November 26 – Daily Feast

November 26 – Daily Feast

The Tsa la gi (Cherokee) sense change. He doesn’t take it from the world not does he hear it from a voice comes from a man. But when he stands by the flowing stream with arms outstretched, the voices speak. The wind has lifted high above, barely touching the limbs of autumn trees, but it has in it a voice that calls us to be ready for change. It is not an imagined thing, not a lower-spirit voice, but a true message from the Great Spirit to stop looking at hardship and fear, to prepare. A spirit of firmness comes in this call, but it is sweetness as well – a sweetness that heals all the wounds of centuries. It asks all the people to stand together in the true sense, and then they will never fail.

The Ordains – Concerning relationships within the Craft

The Ordains

Concerning relationships within the Craft
Witchy Comments & Graphics

1. Witches do not point out the identity of other Witches to the general public or give addresses, or anything that can betray any of us.

2. Do nothing that will endanger anyone in the Craft, or which will bring them into conflict with the law of the land or any of your persecutors.

3. Do not gossip or speak evil of other Witches.

4. Never lie to any of the Wicca.

5. Never use your magickal skills for show, pride or vain glory.

6. Keep within your Book of Shadows a record of your own rites and learnings.

7. Do not lend your Book of Shadows to anyone. You may allow someone to copy it.

8. Property owned by Crafters should be guarded both mundanely and spiritually by the Witch.

9. Never use your personal power for evil purposes or attacks. If someone attacks you, you can defend yourself by asking the Goddess for justice.

10. Magickal bindings can cost you dearly. Learn to banish negativity instead.

11. Know that thoughts are things; and what you create in thought may manifest in reality.

12. A Witch’s power grows in direct relation with his or her level of wisdom.

13. As long as you are acting in accordance with a positive belief system, don’t worry what others think of you and say about it.

14. Injuries, accidents, sickness, and poverty are often manifestations of low self-esteem or negative programming, not hexes.

15. Magick use should be viewed as sacred.

16. Witches may teach others about the Craft if the place is safe, the teacher is knowledgeable, the student is willing, and the information is available publicly or is not secret to the organisation to which he or she belongs.

17. Never do anything to disgrace the God, Goddess or the Craft.

A Prayer To A Gentle Lady

Goddess Comments & Graphics

PRAYER TO A GENTLE LADY

The bright blue of the sky

is Her eyes in the morning.

The sunshine, Her love glowing

in the morning’s birth.

The soft calling of birds

is Her singing to Her people.

The breeze, Her arms embracing the world.

Gentle Lady,

Watch over me as I find my path in life.

Guide my steps. Bring me to the end of

the day fulfilled.

Keep those I love safe. Goddess,

be at the side of those who need you.

And may they always be worthy of your devotion.

So Mote It Be

To Stop Unwelcome Guests

To Stop Unwelcome Guests

When someone drops in on you at an inconvenient time, you can make him want to leave your house with this spell. Take your trusty broom, put it, with the handle facing the visitor, behind the door of an adjoining room. Soon the person will feel very uncomfortable and leave.
(This is a one-day spell only; the next day the person regains his usual desire to visit you.)

To cut out someone’s visits entirely, cast this spell. At midnight, put your broom across the threshold of the door the visitor uses and say:

“Guard well this threshold.
Guard well this door.
Make sure that (the visitor)
Will cross it no more.”

Black Art Spell

BLACK ART SPELL

To stop an enemy from bringing harm, here is what you must do,
procure a special oil, of Dragon’s blood and Rue.
Add to it a pinch of poppy, nightshade and some thyme,
add to that three tiny drops, of some bitter wine.
Anoint a black candle with your victim’s name and seal it with an “X”, then chant these words most carefully, to send forth this darksome hex:
Darksome powers of the night,
gather round my candle’s flame,
send my enemy in shaded flight,
send my enemy away in shame.
Say this chant 13 times, on the darkest moon,
The Old Ones then will hear your plight and will grant your boon.

Poppet Healing Spell

“Lavender, marigold and rosemary,
The body, soul and mind are free.
Stone of Quartz, take this pain away,
Whole and healed and free today
With harm to none
My will is done.
So Mote It Be.”

Bury the doll in the ground before the sunset the same day.

Your Ancient Symbol Card for November 24th is Love

Your Deck of Ancient Symbols Card for Today

Love

Love indicates that love is either present in our life or a distinct possibility. Be open to all possibilities, remembering that true love is given freely, without condition, and does not have to be earned. This is the kind of love we want to welcome into our life and to give to others. Be open to new ideas, and beware of judging against someone in an unloving manner. When Love appears, return to the place where you can love yourself and then seek out the same love from others.

As a daily card, Love suggests that for those who are currently in a relationship the opportunity to deepen the bond is present. For those who are single, Love implies that the prospect for them to begin a romantic relationship is very strong at this time.

Add the power that’s required
To make my magic hit its mark,
By light of day, or night so dark.”

A Little Humor – How To Recognize Humour (A Funny)

How to Recognize Humour

A Guide for the Genetically Disadvantaged

By Everfool

Dedicated to Loki

From Chamber’s English Dictionary (1989 edition):

Humour (Us: Humor) ‘a mental quality which appreciates and delights in the ludicrous or mirthful: that which causes mirth and amusement: playful fancy’

Humourless ‘petulant’

Irony ‘the Socratic method of discussion by professing ignorance: conveyance of meaning (generally satirical) by words whose literal meaning is the opposite.’

Sarcasm ‘a bitter sneer: a satirical remark in scorn or contempt, often but not necessarily ironical’

Brain ‘in vertebrates, that part of the central nervous system that is contained within the skull…intelligence, common sense’

It has recently become apparent that some viewers of the fine website that is The Cauldron have missed out on one of the exciting developments in the evolution of bipedal mammals: the ability to notice when someone is not being entirely serious.  Because most of the people behind the website are kind, generous people, who would not say a bad word about anyone, the writing of this article has rather naturally fallen to me.

With the intent of making many lives more wholesome and enjoyable, it is my hope to help you to separate ironic humour articles from hideously idiotic editorials.  This is a basic course, however, so don’t get cocky and start reading the transcripts of political speeches.

Useful Clues

1) The presence of the word ‘humour.’  One would think that this is an obvious sign, and certainly I think so, but apparently I’m out of step with the world.  I blame the stuff they put in the water supply.*

Read the article.  Look all over the page.  Examine the web address even.  If anywhere appears the word ‘humour’ in a label format, you should probably move onto deciding whether the article is funny or not.  If you can’t decide on that, please order my new book Is It Funny?retailing at £30.95.

* Shopping trolleys mainly.

2) ‘Tone’ When you read the article, is your first instinct to laugh at how bizarre it is?  Congratulations, it’s probably a humour piece!  While some people are unintentionally funny, most people have to work hard at it.  Come to that, some people have to work hard at basic cognitive functions, but I’m digressing.

3) Content of the rest of the site: Possibly your most useful guide.  The most basic point links back to number one: is this article stored within a section labelled as ‘humour’?  If you can’t handle the ramifications of this one, please see your doctor immediately and tell him you’re not allowed to reproduce. More time consuming is the examination of the rest of the site.  Do all of the pages seem in keeping with the item that originally inflamed your anger?  If you think the article encourages an absurdly ‘fluff bunny’ attitude, the intelligent article on controversies within the Pagan community may change your mind.  May.

4) Ask the people who run the website whether they’re being serious.  This may save you the effort of remembering all those interesting words your dad/uncle/priest used to use when they smelled of domestic bleach, and will save you embarrassment if you ever planned on holding a conversation with representatives of the site.

This concludes the basic guide to spotting humour.

Remember to look out for:

  • Convenient label systems.
  • Tone.
  • Context/accompanying content.
  • Hints from the owner of the site that it’s frigging humour.

And if this doesn’t help, frankly we’re going to send the flying monkeys after you.

November 20 – Daily Feast

November 20 – Daily Feast

Always take into account what your mind has in it. What of the world have you taken in and stored in all the little crevices and avenues of your mind and thinking? Guard your mind, for out of it comes what you think is possible for you. If you have stored defeat and rejection, those are the only things you have to draw on. Our voices record everything we say within our minds and hearts. Blessing or swear words, sarcasm or snappy cynicism, all are there, and all have a part in ruling life. This is the hardest part to sweep out and control, but it can be done – and it is better than storing trash.

Fairy Tale for Assertive Women

 Fairy Tale for Assertive Women

Once upon a time, in a land far away, a beautiful, independent, self-assured princess happened upon a frog as she sat contemplating ecological issues on the shores of an unpolluted pond in a verdant meadow near her castle.

The frog hopped into the Princess’ lap and said: “Elegant Lady, I was once a handsome Prince, until an evil Witch cast a spell upon me. One kiss from you, however, and I will turn back into the dapper, young Prince that I am and then, my sweet, we can marry and setup housekeeping in yon castle with my Mother, where you can prepare my meals, clean my clothes, bear my children, and forever feel grateful and happy doing so.”

That night, on a repast of lightly sauted frogs legs seasoned in a white wine and onion cream sauce, she chuckled to herself and thought: “I don’t think so.”

As Witches….

Witchy Cat Graphics & Comments

We accept responsibility for our actions and deeds as clearly a result of the choices we make. We do not blame an exterior entity or being for our shortcoming, weaknesses or mistakes. If we mess up or do something that brings harm to another, we have no one but ourselves to blame and must face the consequences resulting from those actions.

It’s Monday Again! Make It A Good One, Dear Friends!

To My Kindred Spirit

by Todd-Michael St. Pierre

We share secrets, we laugh and even cry,

We have so much in common,

Concerns, likes and dislikes.

Ours is a relationship joined by

Tender velvet chains that link our

similar dreams of life and love.

A gentle intuition guides us in our

individual struggles to succeed

at the things we pursue, to stand

out from the crowd.

In you I have found so much of myself,

Including many of the same

Insecurities and philosophies.

Complete inner-peace and happiness,

These are the things I wish for you,

in the present and in the future

because you are my kindred spirit.

Never be so bent to certain beliefs that it is impossible to see the little things that make life so much sweeter. Sure, you’re going to have to deal with things – that’s life. But if you don’t get down in it and lose your overall perspective, you’ll make short order of the work. When you love other people you listen to their problems and offer them help, but you don’t take their responsibility. You just help. Mothers and grandmothers have always had the tendency to take the whole burden, but you shouldn’t. Children have to learn there is help – but some of it comes from them.

The Witches Magick for November 18th – Poppet Magick Healing Spell

Fantasy Comments & Graphics
POPPET MAGICK HEALING SPELL

There are various forms and types of this magic, and listed below is a basic guide and
some tips on how to enhance your poppet spell. Poppet magic is extremely powerful and
should be used with care. Most people associate poppet magic with Voodoo and perceive it as harmful.

In most cases the poppets used in Wicca are used for positive effects such as healings,
love, happiness and they can also be used for bindings (only if necessary).

For an effective spell, you will need a poppet (made of natural material and it can be
colored to enhance the spell), a photo – or if possible, something of the person’s
(i.e.: a lock of hair, fingernail etc) and any herbs, and gemstones needed as well.

Sometimes ribbons are incorporated into the working too.

When you are done casting, the poppet should not be destroyed. Instead give it to the
person you are healing or if it was for yourself, keep it. If a binding was performed, then
bury it off your property.
