Duir/Dair

A representation of the oak tree, Duir corresponds to the letter D and is associated with strength, stability, and growth. The term duir also means door, so the oak groves are believed to be places where the sky world, the earth, and the otherworld meet. It’s believed that the symbol enables one to see the invisible, as well as things hidden from view at present.

To the druids, every part of the oak was sacred and used in ritual and divination. In fact, the term druid, means one with the wisdom of the oak. The oak tree is associated with the ancient tradition of the oak king, the fertility god of the green world and is a symbol of male sovereignty.

Reversed keywords:

When the reversed Five of Swords Witches Tarot appears, you may be tempted to prove to someone that you are right about something. And that could be a serious waste of your time and energy. If you are right, it does not matter if other people believe you or not. Spend your health and energy on more profitable and useful things. Overall, the reversed Five of Swords is a sign that you may be hurting yourself. Know how to choose and consider. Not everything is worth diving into and arguing. Likewise, not everyone is worth fighting for. Consider your priorities and what is most important to you.

Keyphrase: Problems At The Beginning.

Formed By The Trigrams: Water over Thunder.

General: The first step towards true learning is acknowledging your inexperience.

Love: Provided you learn from the problem you have encountered you will get past the current stumbling block.

Business: Assess your business honestly and see how you could do better business.

Personal: If you have hit a setback then make adjustments to your lifestyle and the setback will only be temporary.

Overview: Chun is a reminder that although problems may be encountered they are often only brief – just like a thunderstorm. And like the land that benefits from the extra rain you too can benefit provided you learn from what has happened. Once any obstacle has been surmounted then your project will have the chance to thrive. But you need to be wary of reckless action. Recognize misleading and corrupt influences and forge alliances with those that are trustworthy. You are most at risk if you let your ignorance blind you to how much you have to learn.

Three

THE CREATIVE CHILD

The number 3 is like a gifted teenager who is still under the protection of its parents – a bit spoiled, clearly scattered, and perpetually in need of guidance. However, the 3 excels in the creative field.

Another unique quality of the 3 is the tendency to be “lucky,” or rather, to be in the right place at the right time. This may be connected to their innate sense of rhythm – the 3 seems to be in tune with the cyclical nature of their surroundings.

Their social skills are also excellent.

Charm, wit and a sense of humor help a 3 along their path, and a compelling charisma make them particularly attractive.

Queen of Pentacles – Minor Arcana Court

Image description on Queen of Pentacles Mermaid Tarot

The Lady of the Lake is one of those water gods that you do not want any trouble with. Appearing in one of the deepest myths, she looks to have found a home in the midst of a misty valley at Avalon. Her waters are soothing and transformative. Many people have come to her lake to restore themselves, or in some cases, to be reborn. She is known as a maker of leaders, warriors, and kings. From her very lake, all material things are born. When she places the pentacle on top of her head, she directs the power of water, the power of the air, and the power of the earth to come together and benefit her kingdom. There is nothing in her kingdom that she does not know, does not heal, or does not celebrate.

The Queen of Pentacles Mermaid Tarot is a card belonging to the Pentacles suit, which carries numerous meanings, but predominantly represents women and their positive qualities. However, depending on the context and the combination with other cards, the card also brings forth a diverse range of meanings, which can signify a new phase in one’s life.

This card embodies the sacred aspect of maternal love, nurturing from infancy to maturity, practicality, positive energy, and reliability. Typically, it represents a specific individual, often a woman. Nevertheless, its significance varies depending on the querent. In a Tarot reading, it exudes a considerable amount of positive energy. Upon observing the card, one can discern its radiance and abundance in both material wealth and profound emotions.

The Queen of Pentacles Mermaid Tarot often represents a woman, such as a mother, a friend, or an acquaintance, who possesses power, practicality, and the ability to care for others. She is a compassionate and virtuous woman, always bringing happiness and love to those around her.

This woman is intelligent and forthright, capable of resolving issues rationally and realistically. With her trustworthy nature, she becomes a solid support for everyone in her vicinity. However, she is also introverted and sets her own principles, exhibiting stubbornness and willfulness.

She rarely ventures beyond her comfort zone and finds it challenging to engage with new environments and relationships. While she is refined and sensitive, we should not mistake the card as solely referring to the female gender. The imagery of the Queen in the card serves as an archetype representing the character traits of the person in question, one who knows how to care for and nurture.

Three

Positive Qualities

The main strength of the Three is love of life and invincible optimism. It is almost impossible to make you doubt yourself or the importance of your role. Minor mishaps don’t count. You are sure that in the Fifth Act everything will fall into place, and the Ending will be incredible.

This carefree attitude is due to your expressiveness and artistry. Practical advice and comments like, “You can’t live like this!” cause your sincere puzzlement: “What else is life if not this?”

Negative Qualities

The weakness of the Three’s character is their tendency to become depressed whenever the Feast of Life stops for even a moment. It usually occurs in cases when the lack of attention and interaction take place.

Your selfishness makes you demand recognition and expressions of interest from anyone who contacts you in any way. As soon as the familiar ritual is broken – say, someone forgot to call you, or was reluctant to respond to your request – you immediately come to the conclusion that the world is falling apart, and your life is over.

Four, among the main numbers of the numerological core, is unwavering firmness of

Positive qualities

The positive qualities of the Four could be described as purely men’s virtues if thousands of women didn’t have them. This is high endurance, exceptional working ability, personal organization, commitment to principles and equanimity. You are firm in your beliefs, most important of which is that nothing in this world comes for free, and any reward is to be deserved.

That’s why people of your kind are the foundation of any society. They know what to do and can implement it in practice. There is nothing heroic in your manifestations, but all your life is a feat. As a consequence, only few admire you, but everyone respects you.

Negative qualities

When someone wants to point out the Four’s weakness, they first mention their stubbornness, slowness and tediousness. From a certain point of view, so it is: you always take your time not to make mistakes, and you’ll hold your ground up to the end without losing a chance to rub your opponent’s nose in their errors.

Moreover, you never hide your skeptical attitude towards rattle heads, shallow and irresponsible people. Therefore, you are often accused of being too suspicious, and your zero-tolerance of idleness and unwillingness to waste time on idle pleasures gives others a reason to consider you sullen and hard-grained.

Overview: Lin indicates that you have the opportunity to listen to and to learn from those with greater wisdom or experience than you. This opportunity should be welcomed and seized gratefully. As with anything circumstances will change so it is critical that the favorable circumstances currently presented are taken full advantage of. It is a good time to look at any possible future difficulties and to try to deal with them preemptively. Success at this time should be shared with those around you.

Nine

Nine, as one of the core numerological numbers, implies idealism turned into the main principle of life. Figuratively speaking, you do not pretend to understand the purpose of the Creator, but hope that things are arranged reasonably and end well. Everything else is derived from this. You are kind as you don’t feel entitled to increase the amount of evil in the world. You display exceptional intuition and insight because you are afraid of accidentally causing someone harm or doing someone wrong. You love people because you think this is the only opportunity to make them happy.

Wheel of Fortune – Major Arcana

Wheel of Fortune Upright Meaning Explained

Be ready for positive changes! The presence of the Wheel of Fortune tarot upright signals that you’ve got to get ready for good news. The cards are here to congratulate you for having good karma. The Wheel of Fortune meaning in this position says you should use this lucky time to chase your dreams. If you were waiting for the opportunity to take the next step, you need to act now!

The card upright also reminds us about the inevitability of life changes. It means that if you are feeling great, you need to be grateful for this moment. Live it to the fullest as nothing lasts forever, and that’s one of life’s gifts to you. Cherish the blessings and appreciate the opportunities given.

While the Wheel of Fortune tarot card is also the symbol of karma, expect to receive back certain events according to the ways you treat others. Suppose in the past you invested some good energy into something or somebody, then now you’ll get back what you have put. The card’s advice is to plant seeds of good karma and not mistreat others. The lesson of the Wheel of Fortune is ‘what goes around comes around’.

For love, the Wheel of Fortune tarot meaning upright embodies the need for change in your relationships. By making a bold move towards something new, you can enter a new level of intimacy and trust with your significant other. So if you have something in mind don’t hesitate to choose new opportunities for both of you. In some ways, the card calms down those who are worried about eventual changes in their love life. It’s not the end! The wheel will move and the situation will switch as well.

Wheel of Fortune tarot card meaning for career signifies that you need to adapt to changes and go with the flow.

Wheel of Fortune Reversed Meaning Explained

This too shall pass! Wheel of Fortune tarot meaning upside down can signal about the unforeseen setback of something important. You may experience mishaps and downswings. Sometimes we’re not on top in life, and it is natural. Changes will come unexpectedly, but for now, you need to be patient and accept the situation.

The card may embody one’s fear of change or symbolize an indecisive and passive person who is too lazy to change their status. The current situation may negatively affect an individual, forcing them to panic. The card signifies the maturity test and teaches you a lesson of acceptance.

According to the card in this position, there are zero chances of achieving the goal. It may signify the start of an unfavorable period and warn you not to begin anything new.

For a relationship, the card signifies outer events that may affect your union. You can’t control it, only keep in mind that this too shall pass. The best you can do for now is learn the lesson and let it go. Once you embrace and accept changes, the wheel will turn. If you’re a single person, Wheel of Fortune upside down means you may meet someone.

Wheel of Fortune tarot meaning reversed signifies the period of stagnation in your career. Maybe you need to reconsider your working opportunities or have some rest. Anyway, this is not the time to initiate significant career changes. You had better wait for new opportunities and stay patient.

Healing, cleaning, cleansing, catharsis, paring down

Tree: Broom (Cytisus spp.)

Letter: Ng

Like when a fever breaks, broom signifies the end of a struggle and the subsequent ability to clear out the junk to make way for a newer, more positive approach. Walking a way from a bad habit or situation can be painful, but not necessarily so. It may also be gradual. Overall, Ngetal is the importance of getting rid of old junk and baggage (this could be actual clutter or psychological baggage, which of course are intimately linked) or it could mean the resolution of action against someone who has wronged you, whether it is forgiveness or cutting and clearing them out of your life. If it is forgiveness, Ngetal suggests it is coming from a genuine place of inner peace. Apologizing does not necessarily make you an apologist.

There is a process of analysis and reflection that eventually distances anger and enables you to feel it without being puppeted by it. Letting go of attachments that aren’t healthy, for instance, an obsession with being liked for the way you look, will help you develop in ways that fulfill your purpose in this life. Ngetal could signify you are beginning to release anxieties about what you have no control over, which will go a long way in healing your spirit.

7 of Swords – Minor Arcana

Bad Feelings; snooping

A man is carrying away seven swords from an open chest just behind him. The lock on the chest is broken, so he is stealing what is not his. On a shelf above the chest, two tiny Fire dragons are screaming in anger. The little dragons try to warn him, but he refuses to listen. The thief has forced open the perilous box of universal, magickal knowledge within his subconscious mind and thinks to steal away with the power (swords) he found within. Only an initiate, who has studied and brought balance to all areas of his life, is given the key to open this perilous chest of wisdom and power. The thief has found a shortcut to gain what he wants without the work or dedication. He believes he is above the Law and will not suffer karmic consequences. However, he is wrong, for the Law will always be balanced, regardless of human desires to the contrary.

Divination Meaning: You are creating trouble through the wrong use of personal power. Failure of a plan may come about because of wrong motives. Do not snoop into the affairs of another; you will get burned. You feel cheated or wronged.

Having shame about one’s own past behavior is motivation to avoid shameful behaviors such as cheating and stealing.

Shame is an emotion that demands confrontation. All too often, people run away from what shames them, attempt to excuse themselves from wrongful or immoral behavior because they’re too cowardly to face what they have done or to admit their responsibility in causing their own misfortunes or the misfortune of others. Shooting Star Divination

Tonight, think of a question you have regarding your relationships or your  profession. Now, gaze at the night sky: go outdoors, look out an open door or an open window. Say aloud:

May this star divination be clear and true.

So be it! Blessed stars! Blessed Be!

Continue gazing at the night sky and ask your question aloud, addressing it to the  stars in the sky. If a shooting star streaks across the night sky, or if the star seems to shine brighter in the next thirty minutes, the answer to your  question is “Yes.” If clouds move across your view in the next thirty minutes, then the answer is “No.” If nothing happens, ask again,  until you receive an indication either “Yes” or “No” from the stars. Make a note of your question and the answer you received from the  stars in your journal.

In Honor Of Cybele, Crystal Divination c2014

In Honor Of Cybele, Crystal Divination

As it was the Oracle of Delphi that brought Cybele to Rome, the act of divining the future was associated with her. It seems only fitting to celebrate the power of this Goddess by working with some form of divination on this day. For this magickal activity you will need:

A clear glass bowl filled with Spring water

A quartz crystal

A tapered white candle

Place the crystal in the clear glass bowl and cover it with the spring water. Set the white candle just behind the bowl and light it. With your right index finger, slowly stir the water around the crystal as you chant’

“Blessed spirits of the night,

Bless me now with second sight.”

Focus your attention on the water. It will begin to cloud over with a fine mist. Once the mist begins to flow out of the bowl, stop stirring the water and look directly into the bowl. Center your attention on the crystal and repeat the following:

“Fire and water, crystal clear,

Let the visions now appear.”

Visions of the future will appear. When the visions begin to fade, make a mental note of what you saw. Snuff out the candle and place your crystal under your pillow. The crystal will provide you with more information during your dream time. Later write your visions down in your dream journal of magickal BOS.

2 of Cups – Minor Arcana

Upright: The Two of Cups is one of the very few cards within the tarot that has an overall positive meaning in each position.

In a past position it indicates an old relationship that was loving, accepting, and on the surface perfect.

While it’s now changed, or even ended, it has left you with some valuable life lessons that have ultimately helped you to become better at forming lasting bonds with others.

The Two of Cups in a present position signifies the beginning of a new bond or the repairing of an old one.

If this card should appear in your present position, don’t be surprised if you find an old lover or estranged family member contacting you out of the blue.

This is a good sign that reconciliation is possible and to pursue it to the best of your ability.

A future position occupied by this card is an incredibly positive outcome.

With the Two of Cups in your future, dare to be bold in your relationships and taking action to bring them to the next level.

Reversed: If you’ve been allowing other people to come first before you’re taken care of, it’s no surprise that the Two of Cups would show up in the reverse.

As with most of the Cups suit, a reversal of this card means that you are not in control of yourself emotionally.

However, this being the Two of Cups makes it about another person or people. You’re allowed to make sure your loved ones are taken care of, but you can’t sacrifice yourself in order to do so.

When the Two of Cups shows in your reading in the reverse, it’s telling you to put your needs first once in awhile. It’s okay to be a little selfish for your own peace of mind.

In this position the Two of Cups may also signify a lack of communication in your personal relationships that could have unfortunate results.

This is a strong suggestion that you find a way to open up the lines of communication and learn to be more honest and direct with your thoughts and feelings.

(One Person’s View) Casting The Runes c. 2018

Casting The Runes

Each individual will eventually devise his or her own way of casting the runes. What follows are some
suggestions, all following a similar path, but they are by no means fixed rules.

It is important to remember that your runes are your own, and are special. You have created a link
with them and that is important. Never lend your runes, unless you feel comfortable doing this. I
personally would never lend runes, Tarot cards or crystals to anyone else. If you are unsure, maybe
you should try drawing a rune from your pouch and seeing what you get as an answer. It is suggested
that an upright rune gives a Yes answer, and an inverted one a No answer. However, those runes
which look the same either way may prove a problem!

A traditional way of casting the runes is to mix them in a pouch and cast them on a cloth, usually
velvet. I keep my runes in such a pouch and use them in this way. It usually happens that the runes I
am intended to use find their way into my hand or between my fingers as I mix them in the pouch. I
usually draw nine runes.

Others have suggested drawing three runes at a time, three times, with a break in between each set of
three.

Old Nordic tales suggest that throwing runes at a person was a means of casting a magical spell.
Likewise spells are said to have been cast by writing certain runic inscriptions on a piece of paper and
passing it to the unsuspecting intended victim.

All these things may belong in folklore, and have no bearing on the modern usage for runes; it is up to
the individual to decide. One runemaster I know draws three runes which represent current
circumstances. Having looked at these three runes, he returns them to the pouch and draws three
more. The second set of three represents courses of action or possible outcomes. The second set is
then also returned to the pouch and a final single rune drawn, which indicates influences likely to have
a bearing on the problem as a whole.

Tradition suggests that Odin’s number was 5. For this reason, some runemasters work with only five
runes. Those interested in numerology will note that the runes total 25 if you include the blank rune.
This all adds up to 7, which is a powerful and spiritual number, and for this reason, perhaps, some
runemasters draw seven runes when casting.

Another means of casting the runes is to ‘shuffle them’ and leave them to their own devices for a while
(15 minutes is usually suggested), and then draw 12, laying them on a runic chart especially
prepared for the purpose.

(One Person’s View) Ways Of Casting The Runes c. 2018

Ways Of Casting The Runes

There are probably hundreds of different ways to lay the runes for a casting. What is given here is
only a selection. It is by no means exhaustive.

I would suggest that you try some of these, going for the ones with which you feel comfortable before
trying your own ideas out. The reasons for this are many, not least of which it is important to
familiarise yourself with the runes and how they are read as a group before progressing.

It should also be remembered that you may have some personal thoughts on the meanings of the runes
at the time you are carrying out the casting, which you should not dismiss out of hand. The meanings
given here are basic, and again by no means exhaustive. You may for example wish to use all
the reverse meanings given, even though some runes look the same either way up. Experience is the
best teacher, and you must always do what you feel comfortable doing. Don’t go along with something
just because others do – make up your own mind.

Another means of casting the runes consists of five runes, called Odin’s casting. Again these are laid
down from right to left, with the third rune slightly raised from the remainder. I read these as being
two pages within a book with the third rune being that which is either holding the pages together, or
conversely, stopping them from being turned. I use a similar layout in Tarot readings.

Similar layout could be used with seven runes.

You could also consider using a 12 rune casting, linking each rune either with a month or with a sign
of the zodiac. This is usually laid out in a circle, as in Figure 7.3, although I have seen many
variations of this.

Yet another suggestion would be what is sometimes called the rune-cast method. Basically, you ‘shuffle’ the runes within their pouch, and having formed a circle of string on the floor, empty the pouch into it.

Those runes nearest to you have the greatest meaning. Should any have fallen outside the string circle,
these can be ignored; likewise if they fall on the string or have fallen face downwards.

There are many more ways of casting the runes, and no doubt you will find one suitable for you.
Experiment and practise.

(One Person’s View) The Runes and The Elemental Links

Most people with even a smattering of knowledge of astrology will be aware of the elements of earth,
air, fire and water, and that three zodiac signs fit into each element. It should come as no surprise,
therefore, to learn that a rune also corresponds to each element.

What follows here are the most widely accepted linkages between the elements and four of the runes.
Also given are other runes which are said to link in with the element being discussed.

Earth

The element of earth is concerned with solid foundations, and with keeping in touch with reality. It
may be interesting to learn that Eihwaz, an earth rune, is sometimes called ‘the Rune of Death’ because
of the poisonous qualities of the yew tree with which it is associated.

Also associated with the earth element are Uruz, Wunjo, Berkana, Othila, Isa (which can also link
with the water element, ice being frozen water) and Jera. Isa, Eihwaz and Jera are also said to link
with the New Moon.

Water

Kaunaz is, surprisingly, a water rune. It relates to bonfires, but does not equate to the element of fire.
To the Vikings, bonfires were a physical light in the darkness, as well as symbolising inner knowledge
or enlightenment. It relates to emotions and intuition, and therefore its element is water. Some
runemasters will disagree here, preferring to keep Kaunaz with its symbol of fire.

Also associated with the water element are Perth, Lagu, Ing, Raido and Gebo. Hagalaz has
connections with ice, and so also correctly belongs with this element. Kaunaz, Raido and Gebo are
said to link with the waning of the moon. Gebo and Raido also link with the element of air.

Air

Ansuz, an air rune has a strong connection with Odin, who was considered to have discovered the
runes in the root of the Tree of the World, and as such has a link with the ash tree. He was also
considered to be the source of knowledge and inspiration and it therefore follows that Odin should be
described as the source of language, and the runes as a form of communication.

Ansuz relates to the element of air, to divine breath, to thought and to the power of the intellect.
Also associated with the element of air are Teiwaz, Berkana (which also links to earth having a
duality in element) and Ehwaz, which also link with the waxing of the moon. Algiz is also said to link
with the air element, as do Sowelu and Mannaz.

It should be noted that some runemasters suggest that Ansuz is more correctly linked with fire and
water rather than air.

Fire

Dagaz is a fire rune, and represents day, breakthrough. It is associated, too, with the dawn of the
world, since the earth was born in flames. Dagaz is considered to be the illuminator, the light, and as
such cannot be destroyed. It is the guardian by the doorway, a protective force against anything
harmful. Dagaz is another case of elemental duality, associated both with fire and air.

Also associated with the element of fire are Othila and Fehu, which also link with the full moon, and
with the element of earth – again, being dual in elemental nature. Thurisaz, Nauthiz and Eihwaz are
also said to link with fire, but it is worth noting that many runemasters consider Eihwaz as belonging

Daisy flower meaning and symbolism includes new beginnings, hope, innocence, fun, affection, and other sweet attributes. Daisies are part of the Asteraceae family of flowers, which includes over 32,000 species. Because of their popularity and the fact that daisies can be found on every continent except Antarctica, they are subjects in the mythology and folklore of many cultures around the world. This post will include some of those stories, as well as daisy color and spiritual meanings.

(As a side note, sunflowers are also part of the aster family of flowers, but because they are so distinct and have slightly different meanings, I wrote a separate post on sunflower meanings that you can read here.

“I keep stars in my pockets and wear daisies in my hair but I tuck you tenderly in the folds of my heart and take you everywhere.”

What does a daisy symbolize?

Here’s a quick list of what daisies symbolize. We’ll go into more detail on these throughout this post:

New Beginnings

Hope

Innocence

Fertility

Motherhood

Fun

Affection

Fidelity

Stardust

Daisy Symbolism: New Beginnings

Around the world daisy flowers are symbols of new beginnings. Blooming in spring, these charming flowers remind us of fresh starts, sunshine, and renewal. Because of this, they are often given as gifts or planted to welcome new babies into the world.

The name “daisy” actually comes from an Old English term that translates to “day’s eye.” The reason is that, like lotus flowers, daisies open up in the morning to take in the day’s sunshine and then close up again in the evening. So, the daisy reminds us that with each day, there is an opportunity to begin again.

Hope

Because they symbolize new beginnings, daisy flowers are also symbols of hope. They remind us that hope is one of the most powerful tools we have for manifesting better outcomes and a better world. Even disappointments can bring new opportunities. As the saying goes, “When one door closes and another one opens.”

Daisy Meaning: Innocence

As they are symbols of new beginnings and hope, daisy and aster flower meaning is also associated with innocence. As a result, these special flowers are representative of babies and children.

It’s important to keep in mind that innocence can apply to adults too. In this way, daisy meaning is akin to what the Buddhists describe as “having a beginner’s mind.” It means to embody a way of being and an approach to life and situations with the curiosity and enthusiasm of a child. This way, you benefit from having a fresh perspective.

Fertility and Motherhood

Just as they are associated with springtime, newborns and babies, daisies also symbolize fertility and motherhood. In fact, as you’ll read about later in this post, daisy flowers were associated with the Norse goddess Freya, who was a fertility goddess.

Daisy Symbolism: Fun

There is an easy-breezy aspect to daisy flowers. They bloom in spring, when nature is waking up, and they grow easily in a variety of conditions. Not to mention, these flowers are easy to draw. In fact, they were probably the first flowers that many of us drew as kids.

As daisies are associated with children, they are also associated with fun and lightheartedness. After all, children naturally love to laugh and have a good time.

Affection

How many of us have plucked the petals of a daisy as we played the game “He loves me, he loves me not” or “She loves me, she loves me not”? Because daisies grow easily in many locations, they are often the wildflowers picked spontaneously for a bouquet to give to someone you have a crush on. Thus, daisy flower meaning also includes affection and love.

In fact, in Victorian England, where flower symbolism was a popular pastime, giving daisies to someone meant that you returned their affection.

Daisy Meaning: Fidelity

Many of us have made daisy chains by connecting the stems of daisies together. This pastime goes back hundreds of years, to a time when daisy chains were worn as head wreaths or belts. However, the daisy chain is more than a pretty garland, as they symbolize fidelity and eternal love.

Stars

The Latin name for the Asteraceae family of flowers comes from the Latin word for “star,” which is “aster.” These flowers not only resemble bright stars, they’re also named for the Greek goddess Astraea who turned into a star. (You can read more about Astraea in the section on Greek mythology below.)

As symbols for stars, daisies remind us of something fundamental, which is that we all originated from the same source. As Joni Mitchell sang in her song “Woodstock”:

“We are stardust
Billion year old carbon…”

Daisy Color Meanings

Daisies come in a variety of bright colors, and each has special meanings. Here are some of those qualities:

White Daisy

With their white petals and yellow centers, white daisies symbolize innocence and the other classic daisy traits, such as babies, motherhood, hope, and new beginnings. White daisies make lovely gifts for new parents and newborns.

Yellow Daisy

Like sunflower symbolism, yellow daisies symbolize joy, childish fun, hope, and good luck. They make lovely gifts for friends or anyone whose spirits you want to lift.

Orange Daisy

Orange aster flowers symbolize health, healing, and optimism. They also symbolize zany, off-beat fun.

Pink Daisies

Pink daisies symbolize affection and love, including both platonic and romantic love. They are ideal gifts and lovely to plant in gardens for new babies, new moms, or friends and family.

Red Daisy

Red daisy flowers are positive symbols for wealth and prosperity. In addition, like other red flowers, they symbolize romantic love. Because the nature of these flowers is lighthearted and fun, red daisies make lovely gifts for new crushes.

In addition, as symbols of eternity and fidelity, they make wonderful gifts for long-term partners, especially when you want to rekindle the flames in your romance or reconfirm your commitment to each other.

Purple Daisy

Many daisies come in purple hues. So, like orange daisies, purple aster flowers symbolize zany fun and spontaneity. In addition, as purple is the color of peace and understanding, like other purple flowers, a purple daisy represents the kind of hope and optimism that brings people together and heals misunderstandings. Thus, it is a flower that represents unity.

Blue Daisy

As with other blue flower meanings, blue daisies symbolize long-term loyalty and trust. They’re also helpful symbols for visualization. Like wishing on a star, focusing on a blue daisy in prayer or meditation can help you to calm your mind and envision positive outcomes.

Green Daisy

Green daisies symbolize new beginnings, renewal, and growth. So, they are helpful symbols for new creative, business, or other endeavors.

Daisy Spiritual Meanings

On a spiritual level, daisy flowers represent spiritual faith and the eternal life of the soul. They also represent the possibility that we all have the opportunity to begin again, no matter the mistakes we’ve made in our past. For some, they are also symbols of reincarnation.

Associated Spirit Animals

Because they grow on every continent except Antarctica, the daisy plays an important role in the natural ecosystems where they grow. As a result, they share synergies with the wild animals and insects in their natural habitats.

For example, rabbits and deer love to eat daisy flowers. In addition, insects including ladybugsspiders, damselflies, and dragonflies prey on the insects that eat daisies. Therefore, they help to protect the life force of the flowers.

Furthermore, birds, including finches, sparrows, cardinals, and towhees, are attracted to daisies because they eat their seeds or the insects that live in their ecosystems.

Furthermore, the ancient Greeks would dry and crush the roots of daisy flowers and feed them to bees if they were sickly.1

On a spiritual level, daisies share synergies with the rabbit spirit animal because they are symbols of fertility and new beginnings. In addition, as symbols of fidelity and eternal love, they share symbolic meaning with birds, of which the majority, including eagles and crows, are monogamous.

Daisy Mythology and Folklore

Because they grow on nearly every continent on Earth, daisy and aster flowers have appeared in the myths and folklore of many cultures around the world. Here are some of those stories:

Daisy Meaning in Greek Mythology

For the ancient Greeks, daisy flowers were sacred. The Greeks made them into wreaths, which they placed in their temples. In addition, they burned their leaves to detoxify the air and drive evil spirits away.

The ancient Greeks also associated their goddess Astraea with daisy flowers. According to one Greek legend, during the Iron Age, humans began to make a lot of weapons and warfare increased. Incensed with the violence, Zeus decided to destroy the world of men with a great flood. But before he did, the gods, who had been living on Earth, left. The goddess Astraea was the last to leave. Heartbroken at the loss of life, she asked Zeus to turn her into a star.

Eventually, the flood waters receded. But all that was left of the world was mud and slime. Seeing the destruction, Astraea wept, and her tears fell as stardust. When they hit the land, they turned into daisy flowers.2

Native American Daisy Meanings

For Native Americans, daisies, like sunflowers, are associated with the life-giving attributes of the sun. The Native Americans also eat the daisy seeds and they used to use their stalks as building materials.

Daisy Meaning in the United States

In the U.S., daisies are April birth flowers. They are associated with new beginnings, happiness, and lighthearted fun.

Celtic Daisy Meaning

For the ancient Celts, daisies brought protective powers and good luck to babies and young children.

Norse Daisy Mythology

The Vikings associated daisies with their goddess Freya, who was a fertility goddess and the guardian of new mothers.

Asia

In China and Japan, daisy flowers are associated with fidelity and eternal love.

Daisy Tattoo Meaning

A daisy tattoo is a great design for a tattoo because these flowers are relatively simple in composition, yet they symbolize many positive attributes. A daisy tattoo tells the world that you are lighthearted and look for the fun in life. It can also be an ideal symbol when you are starting something new in your life. While tattoos are highly personal to each individual, hopefully understanding the qualities that daisies represent will bring deeper meaning to your tattoo.

One Way of Reading Druid Ogham

What is Ogham?

Ogham is a divination system like Tarot cards or runes that is also a system of writing used by the ancient Celts known as Druids.  Ogham letters (also called Fews) are made up of simple lines that can be inscribed on any convenient surface.  They are read from the bottom up.

Each Ogham letter stands for a type of tree, and the characteristics of that tree (prickly like holly, flexible like willow) grant the Ogham its insights into human nature. Just as each Tarot card should be studied for its individual meaning and its relationship to other cards, Ogham were meant to be studied one by one. This website is the product of my own discursive meditations with Ogham.

Individual Ogham letters are often engraved on sticks or printed on cards in order to use them for divination. To read Ogham as one would read Tarot cards or runes, any number of spreads can be utilized from asking a simple yes or no question where you pull a single Ogham stick/card to complex interpretations of a dozen Oghams thrown on a table or on the ground reveal the future depending on the angles at which they fall. I personally prefer a simple three Ogham reading. I do it every day sometime in the morning. In my mind or out loud, I ask the Ogham: “What do I need to know in order to make the best out of today?” and then reach my hand into the box where I keep my Ogham tiles. Then I pick three of them and lay them side by side.
