All Signs…

Aries (March 21-April 19)

This is a passionate time for you both romantically and in every other way. This is why interactions with others will be intense. Certainly, romance will be memorable and very affectionate. This is an excellent time to finish writing projects, scripts, novels and school papers because Mercury retrograde will help you. In fact, you’ll wrap up old writing projects so easily, it will amaze you. Meanwhile, Jupiter’s retrograde motion will bring up issues from the past related to your home life. You might revisit your roots, as it were. Childhood memories will surface. You might come across something, perhaps an old photograph, that triggers family memories. (“Why did Dad always do that at parties?”)

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Relations with partners and close friends will be warm and friendly because Venus is opposite your sign. Admittedly, squabbles about shared expenses, shared costs, shared inheritances and shared property might rankle you. (A millionaire here, a million there, pretty soon it all starts adds up.) You might deal with old debts, or someone might make financial demands on you. Meanwhile, with Jupiter being retrograde for the next four months, you will find it more meaningful than usual to get involved in your local community. You’ll want to share your ideas and give your input about something. Talk to neighbours. Volunteer for something. Get involved! (And get more sleep.)

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

You’re getting a lot done because you have energy, focus and perseverance. (And you’ll be admired for your accomplishments.) A work-related romance or flirtation is likely. This is a good time to discuss official agreements. However, you might have difficulty discussing arrangements with close friends, spouses and partners, especially if ex-partners are back on the scene. Jupiter, the planet of wealth, is now going retrograde for the next four months in your Money House, which could make you tighten your belt a bit. However, in another way, it will bring you opportunities to dazzle people with your talents, which might be hiding under a bushel. (Why the bushel?)

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

This is a playful week. Enjoy sports events, vacations, the entertainment world, and fun activities with kids because you want to have fun! Romance is blessed, which adds spice to good times. Nevertheless, you’re working hard. Be patient with coworkers who might resent your industrious pace. Mercury retrograde might create delays, loss, broken equipment and misunderstandings. Meanwhile this week, Jupiter goes retrograde in your sign, which will encourage you to move beyond your comfort zone and explore new boundaries. Discover ways to boost your confidence. Jupiter wants you to create your own good luck. (This influence lasts for the next four months.)

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Home, family and your private life are your focus this week. For example, you’ll love doing something to redecorate where you live. You’ll enjoy entertaining friends and family. Admittedly, tension about old problems with your kids might resurface. Remember that you’re the adult. (Fortunately, you can act.) Meanwhile, this week Jupiter is going retrograde in your 12th House, which will trigger thoughts about faith, religion or your spiritual life. You might think about what it is that you believe (because we all believe in something even if it’s that “we don’t believe”). This is not the time for self-denial. It’s appropriate to be yourself and express to others who and what you are. Relax. Enjoy being you.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

This is a busy week because of short trips, errands, appointments and work. Many of you are also reading, writing and studying more than usual. On top of this, visits with siblings, relatives and neighbours take up your time. But you’re happy to interact with everyone because you want to share your ideas and enjoy a sense of community with interesting people. And you’re still blessed with the ability (and circumstances) to enjoy the beauty of your daily surroundings. Your deepest reward however, is realizing how much love there is in all these interactions. Admittedly, a bit of chaos at home is a challenge. But you feel stoked about making a difference in society, perhaps even demonstrating?

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You’re focused on money, cash flow and earnings; and probably buying beautiful things as well. However, at a deeper level, you’re prompted to think about what really matters in life. How do you define success? Your world is fast-paced right now, and you identify strongly with your ideas and opinions. Avoid arguments that aren’t worth it because why ruin your peace of mind? However, if you have to sell an idea, with fiery Mars in your House of Communications – you’ll do it! This week Jupiter goes retrograde at the top of your chart. It will be retrograde for the next four months and might cause some of you to question your true calling. You might want to change what you do for a living. Heady thoughts.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Fair Venus and the Sun are in your sign, which empowers you to express yourself with forcefulness. (In fact, you might come on too strong for some.) Fortunately, Venus will ameliorate and soften your energy, allowing you to make peace with others and enjoy good times with friends. Debates about old money issues or past purchases might arise. With Mars in your Money House, you might be tempted to make impulsive purchases that you later regret. Don’t do this. However, this is a good time to buy wardrobe goodies – no question. Meanwhile, this week as Jupiter goes retrograde and stays that way for the next four months, remind yourself to stop obsessing about details. Look at the big picture.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You’re happy to be low-profile this week. This doesn’t mean you’re going to sit in the corner getting dusty. Au contraire! You have some profound ideas that you’re considering. Plus, fiery Mars and Mercury in your sign will encourage you to make your ideas known to others. You’ll be more of a fighter for your own rights than usual, as well as the rights of others. Despite your desire for privacy, your physical energy level is high, helping you to enjoy outdoor sports and competitions. Your ruler Jupiter goes retrograde this month to stay that way until early March next year, giving you an opportunity to work on trust issues. You might want to seek counselling. Candid discussions with a love interest are likely.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

This week finds you busy seeing old friends and being involved in groups and organizations. You might be more involved in community events because you’re out there interacting with others. Venus will help you to enjoy socializing with everyone. In particular, these encounters will be more loving and affectionate, which will be meaningful to you. Possibly, you’ll identify with the objectives of a group. This week Jupiter goes retrograde opposite your sign, and will stay that way for the next four months, which makes this window of time excellent for meeting someone who is truly meaningful to you, perhaps even your soulmate. (Clutching pearls.) Ironically, you might initially resist getting to know them.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

With the Sun at high noon in your chart, casting you in a spotlight, you impress everyone (even if you don’t think you’re doing anything special). Ah, the power of great lighting! People want your advice. This might surprise you but why not play along? You will likely tell them exactly what they need to hear. Even bosses and people in authority are favourably inclined to you. Avoid squabbles with friends and groups. However, competitions and outdoor team work will appeal. Meanwhile, this week Jupiter goes retrograde for the next four months bringing you an opportunity to rethink health issues like your diet, your exercise, or your lack of exercise? (Welcome to the club – we number millions.)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Your desire for adventure, travel and a change of scenery is still strong. This is why you want to do anything possible to broaden your horizons and enjoy new and unfamiliar experiences. Travel for pleasure in particular will be a rewarding experience for you now. In fact, many of you will strike up a romance with someone unusual or someone different from past experiences. Avoid arguments with authority figures this week. (It’s not worth it.) Your ambition is aroused; but go gently with others. Because of Jupiter’s retrograde action for the next four months, seek out anything that makes you laugh. Avoid issues that are dreary. Reduce negativity in your life and focus on the positive. Take a news fast.

Magical Workings for The Full Moon c. 2017

Magical Workings for The Full Moon

For many Pagans, the cycles of the moon are important to magical workings. It’s believed in some traditions that the waxing moon, the full moon, the waning moon and the new moon all have their own special magical properties, and so workings should be planned accordingly. If your tradition follows these guidelines — or if you think you’d like to time your magic based upon the phase of the moon — here are some tips on what sort of magic to perform during the various lunar stages.

The Full Moon

The full moon is the point at which we can see an entire side of the moon. For magical purposes, many modern Pagans consider the full moon to include the day before and the day after a full moon, for a total of three days. If your tradition requires you to follow the phases of the moon for your magical workings, this is a good time to do rituals focused on personal growth and spiritual development. Some examples would include:

  • Spells related to increasing your intuitive awareness
  • Healing magic
  • Rituals that connect you closely with deity, such as Drawing Down the Moon
  • Any magic related to developing your magical skills

For many Pagans, this is also a time to celebrate with an Esbat ritual. Dorinda is an eclectic witch who lives in Nevada, and she says, “Once a month, during the full moon, I drive out to the desert about half an hour away. There’s a spot that I go that’s really off the beaten path, and I can stand up on a hillside and watch the moon rise, and it’s just magnificent, because there’s no one out there but me. It’s always a very meditative experience, and I can really feel the connection that my body has to the full moon, as well as connecting on a spiritual level. This is when I call upon the gods of my tradition, ask for intuitive guidance, that sort of thing. I always feel so refreshed and aware afterwards, it’s almost hard for me to get to sleep when I get back home.”

The 4 November birthday astrology analysis shows that you are not overly excited when it comes to going to a gym. But when you do, you have an intense approach towards achieving your desire level of fitness. You have no problems relaxing and enjoying yourself.

Over all, Scorpio, you don’t lose any sleep wondering if you’ve said the wrong thing to the right person but you should show a little more tact when speaking to people. Otherwise, you like it drama free. When you find a partner who perhaps is most like yourself, you will probably hold on to them.

Marriage is more appealing to the 4 November birthday personality than sleeping around. You must have the Midas touch as you seem to make money anywhere you go. Maybe you’re best suited to work for yourself.

Witches Rede of Chivalry c 2016

Witches Rede of Chivalry

Insofar as the Craft of the Wise is the most ancient and most honorable creed of humankind, it behooves all who are Witches to act in ways that give respect to the Old Gods, to their sisters and brothers of the Craft, and to themselves.

Therefore, be it noted that:

  1. Chivalry is a high code of honour which is of most ancient Celtic Pagan origin, and must be lived by all who follow the Old ways.
  2. It must be kenned that thoughts and intent put forth on this Middle-Earth will wax strong in other worlds beyond, and return… bringing into creation, on this world, that which had been sent forth. Thus one should exercise discipline, for “as ye sow, so shall ye reap.”
  3. It is only by preparing our minds to be as Gods that we can ultimately attain godhead.
  4. “This above all…to thine own self be true….”
  5. A Witch’s word must have the validity of a signed and witnessed oath. Thus, give thy word sparingly, but adhere to it like iron.
  6. Refrain from speaking ill of others, for not all truths of the matter may be known.
  7. Pass not unverified words about another, for hearsay is, in large part, a thing of falsehoods.
  8. Be thou honest with others, and have them known that honesty is likewise expected of them.
  9. The fury of the moment plays folly with the truth; to keep one’s head is a virtue.
  10. Contemplate always the consequences of thine acts upon others. Strive not to harm another.
  11. Though there may be differences between those of the Old Ways, diverse covens and circles may well have diverse views. These views, even if they are different than yours, should always be given respect. When a coven, circle, clan, or grove is visited or joined, one should discern quietly their practices, and abide thereby.
  12. Dignity, a gracious manner, and a good humour are much to be admired.
  13. As a Witch, thou hast power, and thy powers wax strongly as wisdom increases. Therefore exercise discretion in the use thereof.
  14. Courage and honour endure forever. Their echoes remain when the mountains have crumbled to dust.
  15. Pledge friendship and fealty to those who so warrant. Strengthen others of the Brethren and they shall strengthen thee.
  16. Thou shalt not reveal the secrets of another Witch or another Coven. Others have laboured long and hard for them, and cherish them as treasures.
  17. Those who follow the mysteries should be above reproach in the eyes of the world, and should always seek to make this so.
  18. The laws of the land should be obeyed whenever possible and within reason, for in the main they have been chosen with wisdom for the well-being of all.
  19. Have pride in thyself, and seek perfection in body and in mind. For the Lady hath said, “How canst thou honour another unless thou give honour to thyself firstly?”
  20. Those who seek the Mysteries should consider themselves as select of the Gods, for it is they who lead the race of humankind to the highest of thrones and beyond to the very stars.

Witch 101: “Witches’ Rede of Chivalry” c 2016

Witch 101: “Witches’ Rede of Chivalry”

The Witches’ Rede of Chivalry can be found in Ed Fitch’s book Magical Rites from the Crystal Well, containing work published in a popular Pagan magazine in the 19602 and ’70s. The Crystal Well featured writing based primarily on Central and Eastern European magickal traditions.

The Witches’ Rede of Chivalry may be written in somewhat archaic language, but it covers a number of important points, and I think it is worth taking a peek at. Here’s an example to show you what I mean: “A Witch’s word must have the validity of a signed and witnessed oath. Thus, give thy word sparingly, but adhere to it like iron.” Can’t argue with that, can you?

All Signs…

Aries (March 21-April 19)

This week you have an above average interest in financial matters. These might relate to inheritances, shared property and anything that is jointly held with others along with inheritances, wills, taxes and debt. The whole enchilada! As this week begins, you’ll have a strong urge to feel charitable to others, especially people in other countries or from afar. You might make donations to large organizations like Save the Children (https://www.savethechildren.ca/. Or helping animals: https://www.worldanimalprotection.ca/. Even a small donation helps. And you’ll feel better knowing you’ve done something to make the world a better place. Note: This is also a sexy, romantic week!

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Get more sleep and more rest this week because you need it. Take cat naps. Snooze when you can. Partnerships and close friendships are your main focus now. However, at the beginning of the week when strong feelings of compassion and concern for others arise, most of you won’t hesitate to make a donation to a meaningful charity. See Aries (above) for two examples. This is because Mars will be trine Neptune, and Neptune will be sitting in your Money House, urging you to be generous to those in need. Meanwhile, this week Uranus slips back into your sign until April next year, increasing your drive for freedom along with your desire to break down old patterns. Change is overdue!

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Look for ways to work in partnership with someone for a needy cause. This might be to rescue animals, help children in need or homeless seniors. It could be one of many worthy causes because there is so much suffering in the world. Join forces with someone because Mars is in your House of Partnerships right now dancing with idealistic Neptune. You might even make an appeal to members of the general public? Meanwhile, this is a productive week for you because you’re motivated to work hard and work as efficiently as possible. Fortunately, coworkers will be supportive. In fact, for some of you, a work-related romance might be percolating on the back burner.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Another playful week, where you want the freedom to express yourself, do what you want and set your own priorities. This doesn’t mean you want to boss others around. You just want the freedom to be yourself and do what you want. Naturally, some of your choices will be fun-loving pleasures. Sports events, activities with kids, enjoyment of the theatre or the arts – whatever pleases you. You might get your garden ready for winter. You might do some baking. You will definitely carve out some time for yourself. Meanwhile, if you can do anything to improve the welfare of coworkers, or care workers, or animals – you will find this to be a gratifying experience. (See Aries.)

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Home and family continue to be your main focus. Enjoy entertaining, and doing something to make where you live look more attractive. (After all, your home is your castle.) Meanwhile, at the beginning of the week, all of us will feel stronger feelings of charity, compassion and concern for others – animals, humans and the planet. However, Leos will most likely feel loving concern for children in distress. This is for two reasons: your sign has domain over children – all the time. (Leos are always sympathetic about the care of children.) But this week Neptune is in the part of your chart that “rules” children. You want to help. (See Aries above for Save the Children link.)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You have a busy schedule with short trips, errands, and appointments plus visits with siblings and relatives. You might also be reading, writing and studying more as well. This is why the pace of your days is almost frantic, and of course, you’re making your beloved lists. This week you will be in your element because Virgo is the sign of service. You take pleasure in helping others and being useful and supportive. Look for opportunities to help others, especially at the beginning of the week because it will please you. Most likely, these opportunities will arise at home or within the family. In fact, an old proverb is almost a Virgo theme: “It’s a joy to labour for those you love.”

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You’re sociable and communicative; but you’re private about your money. Right now, you’re thinking about earnings and cash flow and you’re playing your cards close to your heaving bosom. As fast as you pay down your debt, more looms up each week! (Well, you do love beautiful things including clothing.) You might also spend money in a charitable way because you’re a caring person. You love your creature comforts, and you sympathize with those who suffer from depravation. (See Aries for suggestions.) Friends from the past, including siblings and relatives, are back in your world because of Mercury retrograde. Look good – you’ll feel better.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

More than any other sign, you’re capable of seeing beneath the surface of things. You see the subtext. You can penetrate secrets. You also have an uncanny clairvoyance. Your deep understanding of things might prompt you to make donations or do what you can to help those who are less fortunate, especially at the beginning of this week. (See Aries for two possible choices.) You might also give money to loved ones, children, and people around you who are in need. Certainly, you are empowered now with both the Sun and fair Venus in your sign, making you charming and diplomatic with everyone. And once again – a reminder – this is an excellent time to buy wardrobe goodies for yourself.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Grab some quiet time to do some thinking. It’s wise to ponder your new year ahead, which will begin with your birthday, which is looming on the horizon. Now is the perfect time to set goals, which will give you more clarity on future decision-making, and a clearer focus on what’s important. Goals also give you a sense of purpose, plus better control over your future. At the beginning of the week, act on your humanitarian impulses to help others because you will feel personally gratified, which will make your efforts a win/win situation. This might assuage any anxiety you feel about meeting ex-partners or old friends from the past. It’s good to feel good about yourself.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Enjoy increased involvement with friends as well as members of groups because this is an ideal time for you to be involved with organizations. You know that you can be useful, and at the same time, you can enjoy socializing. This week is a good time to share your hopes and dreams for the future with someone to get their feedback, which might be helpful. Meanwhile, at the risk of being a martyr, you’re prepared to make an effort to help someone in need, especially at the beginning of the week. By prepared, I mean you’re willing to make a sacrifice in terms of time, effort or money, which is admirable. (When we die, the only thing we take with us are the things we gave away.)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

The Sun is still at the top of your chart, casting you in a flattering spotlight. This is why others admire you and might ask you to do a special job. Do say yes because whatever you do – even if it’s minor – will please everyone. This is because you are “cloaked” in a way that makes you appear favourable, no matter what you do or don’t do. Look for ways to use this popular energy to network with friends, groups and organizations about any cause that is close to your heart – something that will make the world a better place. This is one of your great strengths. You inspire like minds to jump on board and make a difference for those in need.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

You’re keen to broaden your horizons and expand your world through fascinating new knowledge, learning new skills, travel and talking to people from different backgrounds – whatever presents itself. Grab these opportunities if they come your way. For some, a new romance with someone “different” will be thrilling and exciting. Meanwhile, especially at the beginning of the week, you might make a name for yourself – inadvertently – by showing generosity to someone in need, or being involved in a movement, or some local effort to help animals, children, poor people, abused individuals – those who need food, money, medical help, housing, whatever. Your efforts to help might be a beacon for others to follow your example.
