Today’s I Ching Hexagram for December 25th – 9: Small Influences

9: Small Influences

Tuesday, Dec 25th, 2012

hexagram09

A gentle wind gathers the clouds, but still, no rain. Softer influences predominate as the power of subtle forces grows. This is a time for smooth and friendly persuasion.

In the ebb and flow of events, there are always ‘low tides’ — times when sweeping action is impossible or inappropriate, but when small matters can be attended to profitably, leading to bigger and better things later on. When the tide is rolling in, by all means, ride the wave; but when it is receding like it is now, focus on little things.

When the times are such that you cannot do much to affect large matters, persuasion and subtle influence can prepare the way for strength in the future. Use your intuition to chart your long-term course, but avoid bold actions for the moment, for they are unlikely to work. This is an excellent time to refine existing abilities or develop new talents.

Be wary of others’ intentions if they hold the upper hand in a situation. Examine their sources of power, so as to discover subtle influences you may be able to exert upon them.

Charms Against Rivals

Charms Against Rivals

By Migene Gonzales-Wippler

An Indian incantation used by a woman against a rival.

There are a very large number of these spells. They follow, in general, the established pattern of identifying the invocant with some supernatural power. After reciting the statement that he (or she) is thus super-endowed with magickal force, the spirit is called upon to exercise its good offices in favour of the operator. Some charms involved the digging up of a plant with suitable incantations. This spell is used by a woman against a rival, to ensure that she does not get married.

This woman’s power, her good fortune, her advantages, have all come to me. She no longer has them. She will, like the mountains, sit in her parents’ house (she will not be married).

O Yana, great King, this woman will be there for thee, and for none other. She will have to remain in the household of her mother, her father or her brother!

She will keep the house for none other than thee, King Yana; to thee I have presented her! She will remain with her family until she has no hair left!

O woman, thy fortune is covered, concealed by me, as within a deep box. This is done in the name of Asita and Kasyapa and of Gaya. It shall remain hidden!

Magickal Hours of the Day

Magickal Hours of the Day

As analogy of how the hours of the day influence magick can be drawn to a day in the life of a flower. With the first rays of sunshine, the flower begins to open. The, it fully opens, and stays open until closing again at dusk. The flower quietly sleeps, yet it still continue to grow and develop all through the night, until the dawn comes once again.

Magickal timing by the hour of the day follows the flower pattern. Although some of us are morning people, while others are night owls, you will discover that there are certain times during the day and night that you do your most successful magick. Pay attention to you own natural rhythms, and honor them, choosing the times when you have the most energy for magick making. The following is correspondences for the daily timing of potions and spells.

Dawn

A time of renewal, rebirth, new ideas dawning, new beginnings, and consecration. Over the centuries, people have collected the dew on the grass and plants at dawn to use as a magick love potion.

Morning

This is a good time for setting patterns in play for preparing potions, and casting spells for attaining goals. The day’s light is growing strong and your magick grows accordingly. Mid-morning is a good time to harvest flowers.

Noon

The solar energy is most powerful at high noon, and there is a tremendous amount of energy for magick making. Noon is also a good time to gather flowers for magickal uses.

Afternoon

This is a time of harvesting magickal goals. The heat of the afternoon sun is a good time for harvesting herbs for potions.

Dusk

A powerful junction point between solar and lunar energies, dusk is the time when the portals to all worlds are thrown open and you can freely enter them. This is a very potent time for any magick making because the portals are open and communication with Divine energies is particularly strong.

Dark of Night

The lunar and stellar energies are strongest at night. Throughout history, witches have always cast their spells under the cloak of night. This is also a good time to map out magickal potions and spells.

Midnight

Traditionally called “the witching hour,” midnight is a good time to let go of old habits or negative relationships and banish negativity from your life. This is also the time for updating your life patterns and practicing dream magick.

The Hour Before Dawn

This is the time of the Otherworld of fairies and when many predators hunt. It is a good time to stay indoors.

How Powerful Is Your Mind, Really

Witchy Comments

How Powerful Is Your Mind, Really

Our minds are extremely powerful, we sometimes forget how important that is for our magick to work. Without the proper will of mind, or faith – no matter how many herbs or spells, stones, rituals or prayers you use – your ability to raise magickal energy will be limited. We need good solid faith to manifest healthy balance, gain and success in all things in our lives. Our faith comes from ‘knowing’ as opposed to wishing or hoping. We must know that we are directing energy into the Universe and know that it will create change. Without this, a spell is just words.

The Properties of Brass

Alchemy Comments
The Magickal Properties of Brass

Brass can be used as a substitute for gold for money attracting magick rituals and spells. A simple money attracting talisman that can easily be made is to inscribe a pentagram on a small piece of brass and carry it with you at all times. Brass is used for sun magick and fire magick, rituals and spells. Sun magick spells used to attract wealth and money should be performed at sunrise. Because brass has protective attributes it is used for defensive magick to protect and send back negativity to the sender. Brass jewelry is worn for this purpose during such rituals.

Living The Life of a Witch – Magick Starts With You

Magick Starts With You

Magick is natural. Magick requires effort. You will only receive what you actually place into it. Magick is usually not instantaneous. Spells require time to be effective. Magick is divine act. Magick is knowledge – not only of its ways or laws, but also of its effectiveness. Don’t believe magick works, Know it does. Magick is Love. The moment anger, hate or jealousy enters your magick, you endanger yourself and those around you. Love yourself and others, always considering free will. For to take the free will of another away, is to control – and magick is about love, free will and freedom, not control.  Better yourself, bring good things to you, but consider the consequences before casting. Use the magickal energy that the universe is made up of for good. And be sure that it harms none – not even yourself!

The Witches Magick for November 16th: Become Closer To Your Cat Spell

Witchy Comments
I am doing a little substitution here. Friday is ruled by Venus thus being a day which magick should be casted involving the heart. Love spells, in other words. I am not a huge fan of love spells. Instead of a love spell today, I would like to offer the following substitution.

SPELL TO BECOME CLOSER TO YOUR CAT

Preparation:

Work with brown candles. Take the following herbs and empower each with its meaning and becoming closer to your pet/familiar in mind.

– Catnip – Helps create a bond between you

– Vervain – For Peace and Protection

– Gardenia – For Spirituality

– Saffron – For Strength

– Love Seed – For Friendship

– Passion Flower – For Friendship

Working:

Take 1/2 of the empowered herbs and wrap in a small square of brown cloth and tie it off with a brown cord or string. Take the other half and make a smaller sachet for your pet. Wear yours four days meditating with your pet at least once a day.

You can tie the pets sachet on while meditating. After those four days take all the herbs and burn as an incense while sharing a meal with your pet.

Spells and Spell Casting

Spells and spell casting

When talking about spells and spell casting you can get into some sticky
situations. No other subject can cause so many divisions in the pagan
community.

It seems that there are as many different ways and ethical practices as
there are gods and goddesses in the universe. If you take into
consideration that spells and the way you cast them is what makes them
effective it begins to make perfect sense why.

In effective spell casting there are three very important ingredients that
you must have, resolve, focus, and comfort.

Without resolve there can be no change, it is your commitment to an action
that is the basis of a spell. You have to really want it! Without a genuine
intention to effect a change you are casting magic to the wind, cluttering
up an otherwise flowing universe. Spells without resolve can be detrimental
undirected or worse misdirected energy is free to change unknown
situations.

Make sure you really want the change you are trying to make. When you get
it, it’s yours. This is where a little divination would come in handy to
make sure you will be truly happy with the outcome of your spell.

Focus, direction, or meditation, how good can aim? The focus of your spell
casting is as important as the resolve to make a change. If you can’t see
the broad side of a barn you will not have the ability to effect a change
on it. You have to be able to taste it! If you physically build a dog
house, you have to have some idea what it will look like when you are done.
A spell is like a dog house, if you don’t know what it’s supposed to look
like when your done, you could very well end up with a failed attempt or
worse. You have to belive it’s possible. If you can’t belive that something
is possible it’s not. Anything is possible if you truly belive it can
happen. If you belive you can make a change and you know how the change
will take place and you can picture the end result of your spell, you are
there.

Comfort is easy, if you can’t ethically accept the responsibility for your
spell or there is something that bothers you about what you are trying to
do or how you are going about it, don’t. You are the power in your spell,
you are the creator and the control.

Poor comfort will mess up your focus and your resolve. Without comfort you
will have a very poor spell at best.

Happy & Blessed Monday to you, dear friends & family!

If only I could, go back to bed that is. I have a doctor’s appointment today with a specialist. I will explain all of it later. Right now, I am hoping I can fly like the wind and get some posts on here for a change. Oh, I hope you like the new layout. I got to wondered if the problem could have been in the old template. The Apothecary wasn’t having any problems, so I just put 2 and 2 together and came up with 8, lol!

Well I have got to hush and run. I hope you have a super Monday, dear friends! Just remember only 4 more days till Friday. Do we live for the weekends? Hmm….I am off now.

Luv & Hugs,

Lady A

Daily Feng Shui Tip for Aug. 31 – ‘Love Litigating Lawyers Day’

I never thought I’d ever say this, but since I’ve lately had the need for them, I now love ‘Love Litigating Lawyers Day.’ In fact, I really love one litigating lawyer who has helped me over the past few years, as she is brilliant, savvy and smart. Yes, Lisa B., I mean you! But before Lawyer Lisa I met quite a few attorneys who held their own bottom line above my best interests. After more than a few interviews and those accompanying first meeting fees, I finally decided to activate my ‘Helpful People’ arena with the intention of finding the perfect foil for my foe. I located this space on my main floor and then put a small clear glass bowl there. In red pen I wrote a description of the perfect attorney on a piece of white paper and put that paper in the bowl. I was really ready to receive! Within hours a good friend, familiar with my family drama, emailed me suggesting that I might want to reach out to Lisa B., who shut down opposing counsel and client in record time and renewed my faith in a profession that takes some low blows. I blew into her life, she blew the opposition away and we all lived happily ever after. Well, at least from this side we did!
