Mercury in Libra

Now Until Nov 1, 2015

Mercury, the communication planet, should be feeling comfortable in the sociable air sign of Libra. The air element is very much about the mind and communication, so it fits very nicely with Mercury’s meaning. Libra is about building bridges and overcoming differences. It recognizes that there is more than one side to any question and seeks to harmonize opposing points of view. Diplomacy, then, is likely to be featured at this time, both in the larger public arena and in our personal lives.

Mercury in Libra can soften speech to ensure peaceful relationships. It’s necessary at times to bring down the noise level so that both sides can be heard. This is, therefore, a good time to heal wounds caused by misunderstandings or different views of reality.

The challenge of this period is that the tendency for being nice can sometimes overwhelm the necessity of being truthful. Being kind then becomes a barrier to real communication. Ideally, we can recognize (in Libra’s well-balanced manner) that there are many ways to connect with one another, and that agreement is not the only one. Expressing opposing points of view with respect and openness is a terrific way to strengthen any relationship. It is about being fair enough to yourself and others to both listen and be heard.

Famous folks born with Mercury in Libra include singers Bruce Springsteen, Olivia Newton-John, Cass Elliott, Art Garfunkel and ultra-charming Julio Iglesias. Actors Jeremy Irons, Sigourney Weaver, Christopher Reeves, Richard Harris and Susan Sarandon are part of this group.

Sports stars Doug Flutie, Brett Favre and Scotty Pippen were born with Mercury in Libra, too. Writers Carrie Fisher, Stephen King, Michael Crichton and Ken Kesey have entertained us with their thoughts. David Copperfield has shown sleight of hand, Evel Knievel a crazy kind of courage and Larry Flynt more than we really want to see. Mercury in Libra is also found in the charts of artist Peter Max, comedian-activist Dick Gregory, director Penny Marshall and poet-statesman Vaclav Havel.

Your Love Horoscopes for the Week of March 24th

Sentimental communication couldn’t be sweeter between you and your love this week. On Wednesday Mercury in ethereal Pisces will trine Jupiter, expanding everyone’s emotional IQ. Then on Friday Mercury will be at a friendly angle to Pluto assuring that those words softly spoken have incredible depth and passion. On Saturday love will be a mixed bag. A sexy link between Venus and Mars may offer you an opportunity to hook up with someone special. Hours later, however, your best laid plans might unravel as Venus squares off with Saturn. Talk about frustration! The week ends with a testy New Moon in independent Aries on Sunday. No one will be willing to compromise, which is always a difficult situation for partnership.

Aries Horoscope
Aries Horoscope (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

If you want romance this week, think social. Be sure to plan a fun night out on the town with your sweetie on Saturday. You may also decide to attend a meeting for a group, or a charity event. What you want to avoid at all costs, though, will be pushing any intimacy buttons. If your mate is having more fun with extra company and seems to evade any extra alone time with you, don’t make a big deal out of it. If you can let it go, by Sunday you may have an opportunity to dig into his or her psyche.

Taurus Horoscope
Taurus Horoscope (Apr 20 – May 20)

You might not feel the love this week … at least not in the way you’d expect from your partner. With all of the incredible professional opportunities you’ve had, you would expect a round of applause — or at least a pat on the back — from your mate. Instead, on Saturday you may feel as if he or she is pulling you down as you take your next step up the career ladder of success. Before you feel too crushed, try to figure out his or her motivation. If it’s related to his or her insecurity about reaching goals, you might be able to level the playing field. Remind your partner how awesome he or she is in your eyes.

Gemini Horoscope
Gemini Horoscope (May 21 – Jun 20)

It’s possible that you’ll reconnect with a lover from your past that has a background different than yours. This could be religious or cultural but whatever the case, if you happen to meet up again sparks are likely to fly. In fact, you might seriously wonder why you and this person parted ways in the past. Saturday will be especially glorious for love but on Sunday be careful not to reveal too much to a friend. He or she may not support your decision to reunite

Cancer Horoscope
Cancer Horoscope (June 21 – Jul 22)

Friday will be a magnificent day to have an in-depth conversation with your mate about anything spiritual or mind expanding. You might, for example, discuss profound topics relating to your belief in a higher power or a specific religion. Whatever the details, you’ll feel mentally engaged and in agreement with your mate. If you’re dating someone casually then Saturday might be tense. There might be a problem in the bedroom that neither one of you is willing to discuss. If you don’t, it might unravel the relationship potential.

Leo Horoscope
Leo Horoscope (Jul 23 – Aug 22)

With Venus still moving through your relationship sector, you may be in a phase where you and your mate are able to enjoy each other’s company even more. This Saturday you’ll likely experience a double-edged sword when it comes to partnership. First, communication between you and your love will be extraordinary and you might feel motivated to clear up a previously unresolved issue. The bad news is that there might be a problem at home that is so frustrating, it distracts you from romance.

Virgo Horoscope
Virgo Horoscope (Aug 23 – Sep 22)

Pluto, the planet of depth and transformation, is making its way slowly through your true love sector. This process will continue to unfold for years to come and the end result will be a complete death and rebirth regarding everything you thought you knew about matters of the heart. This week, you might experience a positive breakthrough with your mate as you are both willing to discuss the most intimate matters.

Libra Horoscope
Libra Horoscope (Sep 23 – Oct 22)

You might struggle this week with feeling as if you’re selling yourself short when it comes to love. Perhaps you aren’t feeling as confident as usual and you’re coming to terms with the fact that you’re settling for a romance that doesn’t truly meet your needs. While you may be incredibly attracted to this person on a physical level, it may be an empty attraction if your lover doesn’t respect you for who you are and what you can bring to a partnership.

Scorpio Horoscope
Scorpio Horoscope (Oct 23 – Nov 21)

If your family appears to love your partner more than you do this week, it may be a red flag that something is wrong. In the eyes of your clan, it may seem as if your mate is absolutely gracious, charming and social. Behind closed doors, however, there might be a very different reality. You might feel as if your relationship is becoming too much of a burden, that it’s preventing you from moving forward with personal ambitions. Talk it out.

Sagittarius Horoscope
Sagittarius Horoscope (Nov 22 – Dec 21)

If you’re in a solid relationship, this week the communication between you will be effortless. You’ll make a decision together relating to family and finances that you’re both in unanimous agreement about. If you’re single, a New Moon in your romance sector on Sunday may bring a love interest your way — but it appears that this person will either have a lot of baggage, or even anger issues to work out. You might feel that, in the end, despite your attraction it’s not worth getting involved.

Capricorn Horoscope
Capricorn Horoscope (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

You might be excited to share a potential career “win” with your lover this weekend only to discover that he would rather celebrate your victory privately rather than in the company of friends. In fact, it’s possible that your sweetheart and a mutual friend may be on the outs, which will put you in an uncomfortable position. Resolve not to get caught in the middle of what’s likely a temporary bit of drama. Besides, you have more important things to focus your energy on these days.

Aquarius Horoscope
Aquarius Horoscope (Jan 20 – Feb 18)

You and your lover may decide to plan a vacation together to a location that you’ve both been to before and absolutely adore. This may be your special place … a locale that you each find relaxing and recharging. The only trouble may be that as you attempt to get your plans off the ground, your boss makes a demand on you career-wise that could make it tricky to travel far away from home. Before you resign yourself to disappointment see what happens. You may need to postpone the trip, but not cancel it entirely.

Pisces Horoscope
Pisces Horoscope (Feb 19 – Mar 20)

With communication planet Mercury (the ruler of your partnership sector) in your sign, you may have an almost telepathic ability to understand what your mate is thinking and feeling. This week, you’ll be able to use this sensitive intuition to your benefit. On Wednesday you and your lover will enjoy romantic and even enchanting conversations. Then, on Friday consider planning a social night out to attend a party, event or other group related gathering. You’ll feel mentally connected even when you’re not actually speaking to each other.

Mercury Retrograde on Valentine’s Day

Mercury Retrograde on Valentine’s Day

Love gone wrong…

Jeff Kishner  Jeff Kishner on the topics of valentines day, mercury retrograde, blogs, astrology
Healthy relationships depend on open communication. Unfortunately, on this Valentine’s Day the communication planet is intent on throwing a few screws into your plans. Mercury, from our perspective on Earth, moves backwards in the sky about three times a year, 22 days at a time. When Mercury goes retrograde, signals get crossed, mail gets lost, and delays and mix-ups are the order of the day. This year, Mercury turned its heels on Feb. 6 … and won’t right itself until Feb. 28.

Sure, your computer might malfunction or your bus might be late. But on Valentine’s Day, what counts is how love can go wrong. Here are just some of the things that can happen when Mercury tramples on your relationship:

• Your ex calls, and your current partner answers the phone.

• You send a sexy IM to your boss instead of your date.

• That Valentine’s Day card you sent to your long-distance “friend” comes back with “Returned to Sender” stamped on it.

• You accidentally make public your private online photos of you and your loved one … you know, those pictures.

• You forget to sign out of your email, and your partner reads that flirty email correspondence between you and your co-worker.

Mercury brings back past communications. When it’s retrograde, you’re supposed to wrap up unfinished business. Unfortunately, Valentine’s Day is not the best time for old relationships to pop up out of nowhere.

The solution? If you haven’t been completely honest about your past at this point, the most romantic of days is probably not the best time to come clean. Take some necessary precautions. When you leave the computer, double-check to make sure you signed off. Think twice before you hit “send” on that email. And know that Mercury, the trickster, will surely have something up his sleeve that you haven’t anticipated.

And on that special night, it can’t hurt to talk about all the good things that have built up to this moment. When the bad stuff rears its head, you’ll at least have had a wonderful evening to buffer the blows.

Mercury Retrograde Horoscopes (Feb. 6 – 28)

Mercury Retrograde Horoscopes

Mercury reverses through Pisces and Aquarius February 6-28

Jeff Jawer  Jeff Jawer on the topics of mercury retrograde, horoscopes, astrology

Speedy little Mercury, the messenger planet, slows down and shifts into reverse three times a year. Next up, from February 6-28, 2014, Mercury will turn retrograde in watery Pisces and backtrack into Air sign Aquarius.

Mercury’s retrograde cycle is a three-week period when communications tend to be more complicated. Dealing with details, travel and technology are other potential trouble spots. However, this is also a time to tie up loose ends, complete unfinished business, and reconnect with people from the past.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Mercury’s reversal begins in sensitive Pisces and your obscure 12th House of Subconscious, which can muddle messages and make difficulties with the flow of information even more likely. Yet this part of your chart is rich with imagination and spirituality, perhaps reawakening an old dream, creative project or inspiring the devotional side of your personality. Gentle persuasion and tuning in to others needs will be more successful than pushing hard to get others to go along with your ideas.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Communication in group situations could become a little fuzzy with chatty Mercury turning retrograde in your 11th House of Organizations and Friends. This reversal of the messenger planet might also revive an old idea or dream for making the world a better place. Reconnecting with old pals and colleagues could prove surprisingly satisfying, even if your last contact was not very successful. Being kinder in what you say is a good way to repair relationships.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Mercury is your ruling planet, making its retrograde period more important than it is for most people. This reversal starts in imaginative Pisces and your 10th House of Career where confusion about goals and responsibilities could complicate your job. Don’t assume that people understand you or you them. Double-check to be sure that you’re on the same page when it comes to your job. Reawakening an old career dream, though, is a potential benefit of this pattern.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Travel plans and dealing with people in distant locations could be a bit more difficult during this Mercury Retrograde period. That’s because the planetary master of messages and details turns tail in your 9th House of Faraway Places. Make sure that you communicate carefully and recheck documents to avoid mistakes and misunderstanding. A possible benefit of this cycle, though, is to reignite interest in education since the 9th house is also the House of Higher Learning.

Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22)

Relationships could grow a bit more confusing with communicative Mercury turning backward in your 8th House of Intimacy. Renegotiating the terms of personal and professional agreements will probably be necessary to keep both parties happy. Showing some flexibility, as well as compassion, will strengthen alliances, but playing power games will not. Cooperation isn’t easy during uncertain times, so stay open to making some temporary changes.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22)

Verbal Mercury turning backward in your 7th House of Partners can spring some surprises in relationships. You love clarity but it may be hard to come by now. Don’t worry too much about the details, but work on bringing more imagination and compassion into your alliances. Someone you found less-than-realistic in the past might be worth reconnecting with now, especially if she or he stimulates your creativity and is a source of inspiration.

Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22)

Work issues could be more complicated with this Mercury reversal in your 6th House of Employment. Tasks that you thought were finished may need to be redone, which doesn’t sound like fun. But if you bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, your level of skill is likely to increase. Try to avoid overdoing it mentally and physically since you could run out of energy more quickly than usual now. A bit more self-protection and care are highly recommended.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21)

The communication planet turns retrograde in your 5th House of Self-Expression, Romance and Children. Confusion and misunderstandings are possible when making presentations, looking for love or dealing with your little ones. On the plus side, Mercury’s reversal offers second chances in these areas of your life. Just remember to be tender, since this turnabout starts in compassionate Pisces where showing kindness is more important than mastering every little detail. Old creative interests return when you take time to play.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

Domestic matters could require extra attention with Mercury turning retrograde in your 4th House of Home and Family. Spending time on repairs and maintenance is an excellent way to use this period of time. Old emotional issues within your household and with relatives may come back to the surface. Don’t just set them aside — facing them is not easy but it’s worth the effort. Forgiving yourself and others for mistakes frees you to create a more successful future.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)

Whenever chatty Mercury turns retrograde messages tend to be muddled, but misunderstandings are even more likely now. That’s because this little planet’s reversal takes place in your 3rd House of Communication in the fuzzy sign of Pisces. Double-checking details and travel plans makes sense, but being kinder and gentler in how you express yourself is equally important. Tenderness reduces conflict and, in turn, could even inspire your imagination.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)

This retrograde cycle starts in your 2nd House of Assets where you may have to review and readdress some finance-related matters. Taking a second look at how you handle money should open your eyes to more effective ways to manage your resources. Mercury re-enters Aquarius on February 12 and will stay in your sign until mid-March, triggering insights about your appearance, attitude, and approach that allows you to let go of habits that no longer serve your needs.

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20)

Mercury’s retrograde turn in your sign could put you in a three-week state of deja vu. While this can make it more challenging to stay on top of details and manage new tasks effectively, it’s also an opportunity to restart conversations that didn’t go so well the first time around. Your high levels of compassion and creativity will serve you well in repairing relationships and restoring your reputation, providing second chances to make things right.

Meeting Your Power Animal

Meeting Your Power Animal

Totem animals represents great spirit or that which they need to survive. We all have power animals which can be accessed by meditation. Below are a list of animals and their symbology.

Ant: group mind, patience, action

Antelope: action, agility and sacrifice

Armadillo: safety, boundaries, medicine shield

Bat: rebirth, secrets and initiation

Bear: power, healing

Bears hibernate in the winter, which may explain their association with “dreaming the Great Spirit” or  retrospection. The symbolism of the Bear’s cave reflects returning to the womb of Mother Earth. [A Cave is an archetype for the mind – sleep – returning to higher consciousness.] This also suggests a strong feminine aspect, one of nurturing and protection. Bear cubs, born in the early spring, can spend as many as seven  years with their mother before reaching maturity.  People with Bear Medicine are considered by many as self-sufficient, and would rather stand on their own two  feet than rely on others. They are often considered dreamers. Many have developed the skill of visualizing new things, but as a result can get caught up in the dreaming, making little progress in waking reality.  Bear’s medicine includes introspection, healing, solitude, wisdom, change, communication with Spirit, death and  rebirth, transformation, astral travel, creature of dreams, shamans and mystics.

Bearpaw: power and direction

Beaver: builder, protector

Boar: is one of the most important totem animals of the Gaelic Celts:  the South and the element of Fire: The life giving power of the sun

Buffalo: sacredness, life, abundance

Buffalo is considered by many tribes as a symbol of abundance: its meat fed the people, skins were used for clothing and covering, bones and sinew were crafted as survival tools, hooves were converted into glue. According to Lakota tradition, White Buffalo Calf Woman gave them the Sacred Pipe, promising abundance as long as they prayed to the Great Spirit and honored All Their Relations, that is, all other creations of nature.  Buffalo’s Medicine symbolizes an honor, reverence or special love for all the things that Mother Earth offers her children. It is also knowing that abundance is present when all relations are honored as sacred, and when gratitude is expressed to every living part of Creation.  Buffalo signals a moment to reconnect with the meaning of life and the value of peace, to praise the gifts you already have, and to recognize and honor the sacredness in all paths, though they may be different than yours.

Butterfly: metamorphosis and transformation

Scientific research has shown that the butterfly is the only living being capable of changing entirely its genetic structure during the process of transformation: the caterpillar’s DNA is totally different from the butterfly’s. Thus, it is the symbol of total transformation.  Butterfly represents a need for change and greater freedom, and at the same time it represents courage: one requires courage to carry out the changes necessary in the process of growth. Its Medicine is related to the air and the mental powers. It teaches us to find clarity in the mental processes, to organize projects or to figure out the next step in our internal growth.  If Butterfly is your Power Animal or if you feel in any way attracted to it, this means you are ready to undergo some kind of transformation. Examine which stage calls your attention the most: the egg is the beginning, the birth of some project or idea. The larva is de decision to manifest something in the physical world. The cocoon has to do with “going inside”, either through insight or the development of the project or idea. The breaking of the cocoon deals with sharing the splendor of your creation with the whole world. Once you understand the stage you are on, you can discover which is the next step.

Cat: Independence

In Egypt cats were always given special privileges and were treated like royalty. In Scandinavia the cat stood for fertility, and in India it is a symbol of childbirth. In ancient times it was believed that witches took the form of their cats at night. Cats are fiercely independent. You can never own one: it allows you to take care of it and love it, but only on its terms. They come and go as they please, when they please.  Cat’s medicine is independence, curiosity, many lives, cleverness, unpredictability, healing, the ability to fight when cornered, seeing the unseen, and protection. He also represents love and can assist us in meditation.  If Cat is your Power Animal, then you have magic and mystery in your life. You are independent and a free thinker. You probably feel energized at night. You will stay with a person or situation until it bores you, and then you’re gone. You have a great talent for organizing things.

Coyote: the trickster, devilment

Crane: solitude and independence

Crow: law, shape shifting, change

Deer: gentleness, caring and kindness

Deer blend very well with their environment but are very sensitive to every sound or movement. Often twins, even triplets, are born in the spring. Does and bucks live in separate groups until the mating season. The white-tailed deer are moderately gregarious, and family members forage food together along with other family groups, giving the appearance of a large herd. People with Deer Medicine are often described as being swift and alert. They are intuitive, often appearing to have well developed, even extrasensory perceptions. Sometimes their thoughts seem to race ahead, and they appear not to be listening. Deer’s medicine includes gentleness in word, thought and touch, ability to listen, grace and appreciation for the beauty of balance, understanding of what’s necessary for survival, power of gratitude and giving, ability to sacrifice for the higher good, connection to the woodland spirits, alternative paths to a goal. The gentleness of Deer is the heart-space of the Great Spirit which embodies His love for us all. Deer teaches us to find the gentleness of spirit that heals all wounds, to stop pushing to get others to change and to love and accept them as they are. The only true balance to power is love and compassion.

Dog: noble, loyal, teaching

Dog was the servant/soldier that guarded the tribe’s dwellings and protected them from surprise attacks. Dog helped during the huntingÕs and provided warmth in winter. It is a symbol of loyalty, unconditional love, protection and service. Its Medicine incorporates the loving kindness of the best friend and the protective energy of the guardian.  If your Power Animal is Dog, your devotion towards your family and friends is infinite. You get great satisfaction from rendering service to others, offering your hand to a friend in need. A kind word, a caress, an act of kindness mean much more to you than material things. However, there is a risk of coming too close to the other side: allowing people to take advantage of you because of your gentle nature.  Dog reminds you that your loyalty should always be to yourself, to your own truth. He reminds you that by respecting and valuing yourself you can truly render a service to those who honor what you can give them.

Dolphin: kindness and play energy

The beautiful, graceful, sleek dolphin carries many messages for the two-legged. Even though it is a mammal, its home is the sea and has mastered the art of breath control. Since water is the symbol of all life – of creation, passion and even sexuality – dolphin brings us teachings from the waters of life.  Playful creatures, dolphins have long entertained man with their joyful antics. Studying dolphin communication has proved to be an awesome task for man. As in all animals, dolphins have developed sophisticated auditory signals that warn others of impending danger. Some believe that these animals are now warning man of impending danger as he ignores the balance of the natural world. Swimming with the dolphins has become a powerful experience for many people, and as they interact with these playful creatures, they cannot help but feel their communication.

Dolphin reminds us that time to play is a crucial element to walk in balance. It moves through the water quickly and with great grace. Dolphin tells us to move with the ebb and flow of life, and not to search for brick walls to smash into, for to spend our energy fighting the current gets us nowhere.  Dolphin medicine includes change, wisdom, balance, harmony, communication skills, freedom, trust, understanding the power of rhythm in your life, use of breath to release intense emotions, water power.

Dragon: longevity, infinity, wisdom, movement through space

Dragonfly: Illusion – Transcendence

Eagle: divine Spirit and connection to creator

Eagle feathers are used all over the world as ceremonial instruments and are considered to be the most sacred healing tools. They are a symbol of power, healing and wisdom. Eagle represents a state of grace that is reached through inner work, understanding and passing the initiation tests that result from reclaiming our personal power. Eagle Medicine is the Power of the Great Spirit. It is the spirit of tenacity. It is the gift of clear vision with which one can truly see the things one sees. It is the patience to wait for the appropriate moment. It is to live in balance with heaven and Earth. Eagle reminds you of your connection with the Great Spirit. It tells you that the universe is giving you the opportunity to fly above your life’s worldly levels, or above the shadow of past realities. Eagle teaches you to look above in order to touch Grandfather Sun with your heart, to love the Shadow as much as the Light. Eagle asks you to grant yourself permission to be free in order to reach the joy that your heart desires.

Elk: strength and agility

Fox: cunning, agility, quick-witted

Frog: water energy

Hawk: messenger, intuition, discernment

Horse: stamina, mobility

The horse shows up in almost every mythological writing, folklore, and reality. There is the mighty winged Pegasus, the eight-legged horse of the Norse god Odin, the stallions of the Hindu sun god, the stallions of Apollo, and so on. Many legends speak of the horse as being clairvoyant and able to perceive humans with magical powers. No single animal has given man the physical freedom of movement as the horse. If you are drawn to Horse, you feel a power in your spirit that is sometimes difficult to control. Horse is a symbol of loyalty and devotion, of unquestioning love and faith in his master. He says that you love to travel, and have more than a touch of gypsy in your soul. Horse is also your warrior spirit – the brave fighter who brings you safety in your journeys, both physical and metaphysical. Horse’s medicine includes power, stamina, endurance, faithfulness, freedom to run free, control of the environment, awareness of power achieved with true cooperation, interspecies communication, expanding one’s own potential abilities, friendship and cooperation, travel, astral travel, guardian of travelers, warns of possible danger, guide to overcoming obstacles.

Hummingbird: messenger, timelessness

Hummingbird – the tiniest of all birds – brings special messages for us. It is the only creature that can stop dead while traveling at full speed. It can hover, or can go forward, backward, up or down. It lives on nectar and searches for the sweetness of life. Its long tongue lets it bypass the often tough and bitter outer layer to find the hidden treasures underneath. Hummingbird is loved by the flowers and plants, for as it sucks the nectar from the flower, the plant reproduces and more of its kind are created. In many traditions, Hummingbird feathers have been prized for their almost magical qualities. It is said that Hummingbird brings love as no other medicine can, and its presence brings joy to the observer.

If you have Hummingbird medicine, you adapt easily to whatever situation you may find yourself in, and make the most of your new circumstances. You don’t waste time looking back and wishing for “what was” for you are concerned with making the most of “what is”. Also, you could never become addicted to any artificial stimulants, for you find joy in your own heart. You take great pleasure in spreading joy and love and beauty to all around you, and have the gift of taking that inner joy into new and different surroundings. You have a talent for finding the good in people, and are not put off by a gruff or abrupt exterior, for you know that, if you can only get beyond that tough outside layer, you’ll find goodness and beauty inside. You may have a gift for working with flowers, maybe growing them to share with others, or using flower essences for healing. Aroma therapy may be your calling.  You have high energy and a spirit that must be free. To restrict that wonderful, free, loving energy is to suffer great depressions and feelings of uselessness. Hummingbird must fly free in search of beauty, spreading joy and love to all it touches.

Kokopelli: fertility, music and joy

Lion: Power of feminine energy

The female hunts and kills prey, feeds the group and takes care of the young. She is the nurturing force in all senses. The male roars to frighten prey and force them toward the lioness, who waits patiently for the right moment to attack. Although the male is the group’s protector, he doesn’t look for confrontation nor attacks needlessly. He only acts when challenged and will fight to death in order to protect, but in reality he prefers the easy, peaceful life.  Lion’s Medicine teaches us the magic of group interaction, of group energy. It also teaches us the secrets of silence and patience. Patience is to pay attention to detail. Lion suggests that we examine ourselves closely in order to understand our strengths and weaknesses, and to wait for the proper moment to act and take full advantage of a given situation.  Learn from Lion the proper way to use power and strength. Stay calm and still, sure of your power. But if necessary, don’t hesitate to fight for the things you are interested in.

Lizard: conservation

Lynx: keeper of secrets, guardian and guide

Moose: headstrong, longevity, steadfastness

Mountain lion: courage, leadership and foresight

Mouse: scrutiny, order, organizer

Opossum: diversion, strategist, deceiver

Otter: playful, prognostication, woman medicine

Owl: deception, clairvoyance, insight (the night eagle)

Owls come in all sizes, from a tiny miniature that actually lives inside the cactus in the desert, to the great horned owl, which is the only bird that can out fly the golden eagle. A fully grown great horned is an awe inspiring creature. Its talons are furry, and closely resemble the paws of a baby mountain lion with claws extended. It is a meat eater, which means it can be a fierce warrior if challenged, or if something dear to it is threatened. It is often referred to as Night Eagle.  Owl is at home in the night. It has great awareness of all that is around it at all times. It has predator vision, which means it sees clearly what it looks at. It has great intuition: it is the totem of psychics and clairvoyants. It has the courage to follow its instincts.  Owl’s medicine includes seeing behind masks, silent and swift movement, keen sight, messenger of secrets and omens, shape-shifting, link between the dark, unseen world and the world of light, comfort with shadow self, moon power, freedom.

Porcupine: innocence, companionship, trust

Rabbit: fear, timidity, nervousness, humility

Rabbit’s medicine includes moving through fear, living by one’s own wits, receiving hidden teachings and intuitive messages, quick thinking, strengthening intuition, and paradox. Rabbit also represents humility, because he is quiet and soft and not self-asserting.  Rabbit reminds us not to be afraid. Fearful thoughts reproduce (like rabbits) and bring the very thing we fear. Rabbit people are so afraid of tragedy, illness, and disaster, that they call those very fears to them to teach them lessons.  If you see Rabbit or in any way feel attracted to him, it may be telling you to wait for the forces of the universe to start moving again, to stop worrying and to get rid of your fears. It always indicates a need to re-evaluate the process you are undergoing, to rid yourself of any negative feelings or barriers, and to be more humble.

Raven: introspection, courage, self-knowledge

Seahorse: confidence and grace

Shark: hunter, survival, adaptability

Skunk: reputation, presence, strength

Snake: shrewdness, rebirth

Spider: Creatrix, web spinner

Squirrel: planner, gatherer

Swan: grace, balance and innocence

Turkey: generosity, life-giver, sharer

Turtle: nurturer, protector, mother energy

Many Natives refer to North America as Turtle Island, because their legends say that when the earth was covered with water, Turtle dove to the bottom of the oceans bringing up earth on its back so that the people could have a safe and dry home. Turtle is at home anywhere because it carries its home on its back. It does not become attached to places, for it is free to search for new opportunities wherever they may be found. When they sense danger, or are in uncomfortable and insecure settings, they withdraw into their shell, and are protected.  If you have Turtle medicine, you value both the power of the earth, the waters of the earth, and the magic of the heavens, for Turtle symbolizes both the grounding quality of earth energy, and the magic of the mystical. Using Turtle energy can help you achieve real balance in your life and your spirit so that you don’t get “stuck in the mud”.  Turtle’s medicine includes a connection with the center, navigation skills, patience, self-boundaries, associated with the feminine, power to heal female diseases, respecting the boundaries of others, developing new ideas, psychically protecting oneself, self-reliance, tenacity, non-violent defense.

Whale: wisdom, provider

Weasel: (ferret) strength, energy, ingenuity and stealth

Wolf: loyalty, perseverance, success

Wolves have been long regarded by Native Americans as teachers or pathfinders. Wolves are fiercely loyal to their mates, and have a strong sense of family while maintaining individualism. In the stars, Wolf is represented by the Dog, Sirius, thought by many aboriginal tribes to be the home of the Ancients.  Wolves are probably the most misunderstood of wild animals. Tales of cold-bloodedness abound, in spite of their friendly, social and intelligent traits. They are truly free spirits, even though their packs are highly organized. They seem to go out of their way to avoid a fight. One is rarely necessary when a shift in posture, a growl, or a glance gets the point across quite readily.  Traditionally, someone with Wolf Medicine has a strong sense of self, and communicates well through subtle changes in voice inflection and body movements. They often find new solutions to problems while providing stability and support that one normally associates with a family structure.

Wolf’s medicine includes facing the end of one’s cycle with dignity and courage, death and rebirth, Spirit teaching, guidance in dreams and meditations, instinct linked with intelligence, social and family values, outwitting  enemies, ability to pass unseen, steadfastness, skill in protection of self and family, taking advantage of change.

Mercury in Capricorn

Forge ahead with those New Year’s resolutions!

Tarotcom Staff  Tarotcom Staff on the topics of mercury, capricorn, astrology

Cerebral Mercury’s move into responsible Capricorn on Christmas Eve — December 24, 2013 — kicks off an excellent time for thinking rationally and communicating more clearly.

This will be a great time to get our thoughts back in order and find the motivation needed to keep moving forward on those New Year’s resolutions.

Mercury, the planet of communication and mental activity, keeps us more focused on being practical when it’s in earthy Capricorn. Organization is important here, so that we can put all the pieces together and look at the big picture. Once we do that, we can turn our goals into reality!

Mercury in Capricorn is acutely aware of everyone’s place, which means that conversation may become more about who’s in charge than how to get things done. Sensitivity to communication and control is strong during this period. Casual remarks are not associated with this placement — if you’re going to say something, you better have a good reason.

We all see reality for what it is during this time, but we’re also prone to pessimism. It’s important to keep in mind that not everything is black-and-white, and open yourself to seeing the shades of grey. And remember, a half-empty glass is still half full.

Your Love Horoscopes for the Week of December 9th

When it comes to love, we all want brilliant, enlightening communication and the ability to reach for your most enduring goals together. Ah, the stuff that every dream relationship is made of, right? Fortunately, this week it’s all within your grasp. Tuesday’s lively trine between Mercury and Uranus will promise support and interest as you and your mate share those bright ideas. Then, on Thursday, expansive Jupiter will connect with Saturn, helping you keep steady as you build up each other’s hopes.

Aries Horoscope
Aries Horoscope (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Have you longed to take your relationship to new spiritual heights? This week you just might begin that incredible journey. Don’t be afraid to approach your sweetheart and open up about your spiritual or philosophical views. Even if they’re a little bit “out there,” your lover will find them endearing. In fact, the more unconventional you are in this department, the more attractive you’ll be. Looking to buy a house or condo with your partner? This week that dream might become a reality.

Taurus Horoscope
Taurus Horoscope (Apr 20 – May 20)

Have you had that intimate conversation with your lover yet? You know, the one about your sex life? If not, this is the week to share the thoughts you have about how things have been going between the sheets. Don’t be afraid to tell your sweetheart that you’re up for a tad more experimentation in the bedroom. If you approach this topic near Tuesday, you might be surprised at the response — livening things up will be much easier than you think. So stop avoiding it and start talking about it!

Gemini Horoscope
Gemini Horoscope (May 21 – Jun 20)

You might not feel this week is especially heart stopping when it comes to fairytale romantic prospects, but that’s just fine. Not every moment of our lives is meant to be filled with oozy enchantment. Instead, you’ll derive your greatest satisfaction with your partner when the two of you focus on your social life — especially around Tuesday. Do you share a similar curiosity and attend meetings or belong to an organization related to this interest? On Tuesday, you might feel exceptionally stimulated as you pursue learning more about it. Your partner will agree.

If you’re married with children, it may be the kids that bind you together, reminding you that your bond is something special after all.

Romantic and adventurous thoughts and ideas will take your breath away this week. Don’t put anything past your lover, because he or she is likely to feel as restless and itchy for a new experience as you’ll be. Consider a new hobby that you can enjoy together. It’ll need to offer both physical and intellectual stimulation in order to really feed the craving you each have now. The good news is that you’ll continue to communicate beautifully with your sweetheart this week. Love is grand!

Virgo Horoscope
Virgo Horoscope (Aug 23 – Sep 22)

It’s one thing to have love in your life, but it’s another thing entirely when that love makes you feel completely supported as you pursue your dreams. This week, you’ll have the best of both worlds. If you’re second-guessing yourself when it comes to one of your long held aspirations, it’ll be your partner who helps put things in perspective. He or she will remind you that instead of looking at how much further you need to go, you should give yourself a pat on the back and acknowledge how far you’ve already come.

Libra Horoscope
Libra Horoscope (Sep 23 – Oct 22)

Your relationship dynamic is anything but conventional these days, and at times this can drive you batty. This week, however, you might find that you not only tolerate your partner’s eccentric ways, but you also manage to achieve a great amount of satisfaction from them. You seem more open somehow, and more able to understand that unusual or different doesn’t mean negative. In fact, when it comes to your love life, weird is the new “hot.”

Scorpio Horoscope
Scorpio Horoscope (Oct 23 – Nov 21)

Optimism returns in your world this week, much to your delight. With Saturn touring your sign since October 2012, along with significant eclipses crossing your relationship axis, there’s a certain amount of sobriety attached to your responsibilities in a close partnership. Tests to your personal endeavors are par for the course, as Saturn wants to ensure that you’re spending time on projects — and people — who bring quality to your life. On Thursday, you might feel a positive breakthrough. Renewed faith will allow you to make strides with your mate.

Sagittarius Horoscope
Sagittarius Horoscope (Nov 22 – Dec 21)

An open mind is the key to an open heart, and this week you’ll know this is true. If single, a conversation with someone you find intriguing may quickly lead to a first date. Don’t think you need to go out of your way to find this person. He or she may appear on the train during your commute, or be casually shopping while you make a pit stop at the grocery store. Remain open to any dialogue with someone new you meet — especially around Tuesday. Anything can happen from there.

Capricorn Horoscope
Capricorn Horoscope (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

You and your partner might feel as if a mutual dream is finally coming true. While you’ll both have worked quite diligently to make this happen, it appears that by Thursday you’ll receive a clear indication that your hard work is about to pay off. New growth is possible in your individual lives, as well as in your relationship, and you’ll each feel as if you’re on the edge of something wonderful. It’s something that will certainly add to your joy.

Aquarius Horoscope
Aquarius Horoscope (Jan 20 – Feb 18)

Mercury, the ruler of your romance sector, is now touring your 11th house of friends and groups. On Tuesday, Mercury will connect beautifully to Uranus — your ruling planet. What does this all mean for your love life? Intellectual sparks, of course! A social event you attend early in the week for pleasure or humanitarian purposes might lead to a chance meeting with someone special. If you’re scheduled to give a speech, lecture or presentation, do pay attention to your audience. Someone may be vying for eye contact.

Pisces Horoscope
Pisces Horoscope (Feb 19 – Mar 20)

Matters of the heart will be decidedly spiritual this week, and that’s just how you like it! With Jupiter touring your romance sector, the opportunity to find the love of your life if single is truly spectacular. On Thursday, Jupiter will align with Saturn, the planet of stability and commitment. You could make a love connection during a spiritual retreat, while studying a topic important to you or through a connection with one of your mentors. Soul mate love is possible now, not just in your dreams, but also in your reality.

Your Love Horoscopes for the Week of October 21st

A temporary dark cloud may hover over your love life this week, thanks to Mercury turning retrograde in Scorpio. Now through November 10 there will be an opportunity to revise your thoughts concerning any nagging intimacy issues. Still, you might fumble with your words more than usual as you attempt to have any vulnerable conversations with a lover. By Friday, the Sun and Neptune will be at a magnificent angle, allowing you to feel inspired in every way possible. You’ll see the best in your partner, and in yourself.

Aries Horoscope
Aries Horoscope (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

If anyone needs to reassess their approach to relationship this week, it’s you, Aries. On Monday, Mercury will turn retrograde in the area of your chart that rules shared resources — physical and emotional. You might review how much you’re willing to share with your partner. Are you ready to have joint bank accounts, or is this out of your comfort zone? Have you allowed your mate to see you naked yet? Not physically but emotionally? From now until November 10 you’ll have an opportunity to decide whether you’ve been drawing healthy boundaries or using them as a barrier that prevents real intimacy.

Taurus Horoscope
Taurus Horoscope (Apr 20 – May 20)

This week it’ll become crystal clear that your relationship can use a bit of communication rehab. Mercury turns retrograde in your partnership sector on Monday, which will allow you to obtain closure regarding an unfinished conversation or previously unspoken words.  However, this will only happen once you’re willing to dig deep and talk about a sensitive topic. You might need to reassess a recent decision concerning your relationship. You and your significant other might also opt for third-party help, such as a counselor to open up dialogue you’re too anxious to communicate on your own.

Gemini Horoscope
Gemini Horoscope (May 21 – Jun 20)

When your ruler, Mercury, turns retrograde on Monday, it might be more of a challenge to communicate effectively. Now through November 10, it’ll be a good idea to review what you want to say in your mind before you express it — especially during conversations with a spouse or lover. Once you say something, even if it doesn’t come across as intended, you can’t take it back. While under normal circumstances it’s not difficult to correct a misunderstanding, when Mercury is retrograde this can sometimes turn into a monumental task.

Cancer Horoscope
Cancer Horoscope (June 21 – Jul 22)

Don’t be surprised if an old flame resurfaces this week. What might shock you, however, is that this blast from your past will likely reignite all sorts of feelings you thought you had safely buried and under control. Now, it’s possible that you’ll need to face them head-on in order to either grieve the loss of the relationship and obtain closure, or make a decision to give things another shot. In the end, only you know what’s truly best. Romantic idealism will run especially high on Friday.

Leo Horoscope
Leo Horoscope (Jul 23 – Aug 22)

If you feel as if you’ve lost your edge when it comes to expressing yourself, try not to be so hard on yourself. Mercury will turn retrograde on Monday, and in your case it’ll hit home — literally. If you live with your partner, it might be difficult to communicate effectively about a domestic matter or a decision to move. Hold off until after November 10. In the meantime, this weekend looks spectacular for romance. The Moon will be in your sign. Prepare to be swept off your feet!

Virgo Horoscope
Virgo Horoscope (Aug 23 – Sep 22)

When your ruling planet, Mercury, turns retrograde on Monday, you may feel at a disadvantage when it comes to expressing your ideas to others. You might experience a certain amount of frustration at your partner for what you feel is his or her lack of interest in listening to you. Try not to jump to conclusions and give your mate the benefit of the doubt. Remember, communication is nebulous for everyone now. Still, on Friday you might have a conversation that renews your faith in your relationship. Trust that it’s real and move forward together.

Libra Horoscope
Libra Horoscope (Sep 23 – Oct 22)

A series of missteps this week may lead to frustration in your love life. You may need to contend with your partner’s growing concern that the only thing you’re really married to is your career. Sure, there are fabulous opportunities happening for you these days and it would be foolish to ignore them. At the same time, however, remember there needs to be balance in life. Schedule a weekend of fun, without work-related distractions. The social reprieve will be good for your soul and your relationship.

Scorpio Horoscope
Scorpio Horoscope (Oct 23 – Nov 21)

This week, you’ll become extra mindful of the way you communicate. Mercury will turn retrograde in your sign on Monday, leading to more gaffes in your dialogue with your mate than usual until November 10. This will be the perfect time to carefully revise how you come across to your love. You might realize that you’ve been unwilling to share deeper, private thoughts out of self-protection. Perhaps it’s time to take a leap of faith and trust that it’s OK to share more of your inner self with your lover. On Friday, you just might be inspired to do exactly that.

Sagittarius Horoscope
Sagittarius Horoscope (Nov 22 – Dec 21)

You might appear less talkative to your mate this week. Reassure your sweetheart that it’s nothing he or she has done that has prompted you to become more introverted. The truth is, you may have so much swirling through your mind these days that you’re better off hashing thoughts out in private. Even so, be mindful that you don’t alienate your mate during this process. Thankfully, between Monday and Wednesday you’ll have an ability to emotionally connect to your partner without having to say a word.

Capricorn Horoscope
Capricorn Horoscope (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

If you’ve been second-guessing romantic feelings for a pal, things are likely to get more confusing this week. On Monday, Mercury will turn retrograde in your friendship sector, and it’s possible that you and a friend will finally speak about the elephant in the room — your attraction to one another. These conversations might initially be uncomfortable, but you both know they’re necessary. If attached, on Thursday and Friday you’ll enjoy an extra dose of harmony with your mate. The two of you might cozy up and enjoy the comforts of home together.

Aquarius Horoscope
Aquarius Horoscope (Jan 20 – Feb 18)

If your intimate life is interfering in the pursuit of your professional goals, this week you might need to reassess your priorities. It’s one thing if you’re in love with someone and ready to forge a relationship, but if you’ve been casually dating and flirting — especially with someone connected to your boss — this week you might pay a price for any lack of sound judgment. If attached, this weekend you and your mate might decide to take a weekend getaway. Enjoy the break together!

Pisces Horoscope
Pisces Horoscope (Feb 19 – Mar 20)

A change in the way you look at the world may lead to alterations you’ll feel are necessary in your relationship in order for it to grow. On Monday, Mercury will turn retrograde in the area of your chart that rules the higher mind. Reassessing your spiritual and moral beliefs may lead to the discovery that you and your mate are not on the same page regarding an issue that’s truly important to you. Will this be a deal breaker? Try not to make any snap decisions until after November 10.

8 Ways to Deal With Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio

8 Ways to Deal With Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio

We’ve already covered Mercury Retrograde, and last month we talked about Mercury in Libra, but what happens when that Mercury decides to slow down a little bit, and in Scorpio of all places? It is a cosmic alignment worth a serious discussion, as this is another aspect in our horoscope that has the potential to wreak havoc in our lives, or miracles. Mercury is about communications and words, and the zodiac sign we know and love as Scorpio is about digging to the truth, so you can imagine, when Mercury slows down or goes retrograde in Scorpio, a LOT of stuff is going to come to the surface that is going to be just plain difficult to deal with. Or awesome. The good news? You get to decide. You’re in the captain’s chair. Here’s your handy action plan for navigating this murky aspect step by awkward step.

What does this aspect mean?

Generally speaking, Mercury is the planet that deals with journeys, transportation, technology, contracts, intelligence, and legal matters, coming to an almost stop in the most secretive and intense signs of them all. It’s an aspect that is going to last in our horoscope for two months. Normally Mercury doesn’t last that long in the individual zodiac signs, but when it is retrograde, as we previously discussed, it slows down. So essentially speaking when you have the planet of chit chat retrograde in the under the surface mysterious zodiac sign you are going to have a lot of…awkward conversations. Some of them will be amazing. And some of them will be just that. Awkward. How are you going to deal with it?

Key Themes

The key themes of any astrological aspect are the themes that will manifest in your life almost whether you want them to or not. These are themes that you may not be used to, or they may be themes you are very comfortable with. We address them here because knowing what the themes of Mercury in Scorpio are ahead of time will help. When one of these crops up in your life, you can go “ah hah! Mercury is still retrograde in Scorpio.”

  1. Digging for clues and hidden info. Suddenly you will want to know everything about everyone. You will ask intense questions during conversations with new people, as they will with you.
  2. Being guarded. As much as you will want to know things, you will want to keep things private. This is true Scorpio style. She doesn’t let her secrets go but will stop at nothing to get yours.  You won’t be able to avoid putting up a few walls now. But don’t be afraid to tear them down, secrets you reveal during this period are going to bring you closer to someone.

You’ll notice the two key themes of this aspect are in direct opposition to each other.  That’s the cosmic punch of Mercury retrograde in Scorpio! So how are you going to deal with this slow planet in this intense zodiac sign?

Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio Checklist

  • Mark these dates: From shadow period to shadow period we have this period in effect from October 21 to November 27. These are the dates you can expect the most of this chit chat and guarded activity.
  • Another date to note is the November 3 Eclipse. Meditate, meditate, meditate, for enlightenment on some of those secrets you’ve been trying to uncover!
  • Make note of “re” themes in this retrograde: re-edit, re-write, re-evaluate, re-imagine, re-consider, re-cover, re-vamp. You will be re-peating a lot of words, communication, messages, and even experiences. You will also be “reliving” a lot, and see a lot from your past come up. Get used to it!
  • With Mercury in a Water Sign expect your messages and communications to come in a variety of forms, not all of them conventional. Keep your dream journal handy, and pay attention to every life experience, waking or otherwise.
  • Make a list of the mysteries in your life that need to be solved. Are you looking for a family member? Have health concerns that puzzle you? Wondering about a soul connection? You have the cosmic energy now to solve those mysteries. Make a list and then begin tackling them.
  • Watch for signs and synchronicities. Scorpio is a very intuitive zodiac sign and depends almost exclusively on signs and synchronicities or happy coincidences to rule their lives. These will be abundant during this period, especially if you ask your angels and guides to send them to you. These signs are the key holders to the secrets you are looking to uncover.
  • Don’t be surprised if someone from your past shows up out of the blue. Scorpio is about soul connections, and these could be romantic or otherwise. Always look fabulous before you leave the house if this kind of surprise delights you. If it doesn’t, have a fail-safe statement to provide to anyone that may re-enter your life at any moment in the most unwelcome way. “Great to see you, wish I could chat but I’m on the way to meet my awesomely wealthy and gorgeous fiance have a nice life.”  This is precisely how Scorpio would handle it, and so must you, whether you are doing precisely that, or sitting on the couch and wishing you were.
  • Come from a place of Yes. This is a period where the more positive you are in your communications, vis a vis Mercury, the more miracles you will produce in your emotional life, vis a vis Scorpio. Come from a place of Yes. Or, a place of openness and acceptance. Don’t be so quick to say no if you are usually in the no place. Say yes first, you just never know WHAT is possible. Scorpio says yes until she gets what she wants and doesn’t even hear the word no. Your mission if you choose to accept it is to embrace all of the potential that Scorpio does every day. Aren’t you lucky! Your romantic partners will be too!

Many people fear the Mercury retrograde period showing up in their horoscope, but this month we get a little gift from our Mercury retrograde as it enters Scorpio during its slowest movement. This is exciting for anyone that’s ever wanted to be a Scorpio! During this time you can create some true miracles in your life by harnessing that powerful Scorpio intensity and passion with the gift of communication as only Mercury can do. What secrets are you hoping to uncover during this time?

Living Life As The Witch: Surviving Mercury’s Retrogrades

Surviving Mercury’s Retrogrades

The Roman god Mercury (Hermes to the Greeks) is the messenger of the gods—the link between spirit and matter, between soul and personality. Mercury symbolizes the power of communication, reasoning capacities and the ability to perceive relationships and gather facts. Mercury narrates, talks argues, debates, writes, analyzes, memorizes, studies travels, sells, reflects, and expresses itself through the hands as well as the tongue. Mercury is the magician and the trickster, two sides of the same coin, both inclined to be hard teachers. As a master of the hidden realms, Mercury confounds us with unexpected information and events and challenges our habitual perceptions. He also surprises us with unexpected gifts and new possibilities. If we like the surprises, we call it magick; if we don’t, we call it bad luck. Either way, the result is to jar us from the inertia of our routines and move us out of the mundane. So when the planet is retrograde, we can expect things “ruled” by Mercury to go haywire; it’s just another way Mercury is providing lessons.

Mercury retrograde periods are plagued by indecision, bad timing, delays, communication errors, and mechanical problems. Although many of us particularly notice computer problems during this time frame. Uranus is the planet that rules electronic devices, including computers. But since so much of our communication is conducted via computer, Mercury’s influence has expanded.

For many of us, knowing when Mercury goes retrograde can be a sanity saver. We can mark retrograde periods on our calendars so we won’t throw parties, write letters, buy electronics (or pets), sign contracts or take a new job. If nothing else, it’s a time to take extra care that what you say is understood as you meant it to be. For years, it was a time when I battened down the hatches and rode out the messed up energies.

No longer. Now I use the retrograde energies of Mercury in ways that the work like a kind of cosmic aikido move. Doing so has transformed nine weeks of my year into positive, productive times and my frustration level has decreased dramatically.

The key is to remember that Mercury retrograde is a time for “re” doing things. So it is a wonderful time for anything based on research, planning, examination of resources and completing projects. You don’t want to start anything new during Mercury retrograde, but if there is a project hanging out there that you haven’t gotten around to finishing, this is the perfect time to return to it.

Mercury retrograde is not my favorite time of the year, but I’m a lot less stressed about it now that I’ve learned some strategies for using the backward energy to my advantage.

Stones Associated With The Fifth Chakra

Fifth Chakra (throat area)

This chakra governs communication and mental creativity. When it is balanced we communicate easily and effectively with others in both written and verbal  form. This includes being able to constructively express anger and other emotions. When it is blocked communication is difficult to impossible, and these may  be the people who say, “I’m just not creative.

In my experience there can be more physical blockages associated with the fifth chakra than with any other. These can include excessive eating and  drinking (good ways to keep the throat busy while preventing communication), and a range of respiratory diseases. Teeth and gum disorders fall into this  category, as well.

Stones for the fifth chakra:

Angelite helps us to communicate with angels and other nonphysical beings, as well as aiding in long-distance communication. It also    helps to dissolve anger.
Aqua Aura teaches us self-expression through service to others.
Aquamarine helps us to express ourselves in a tranquil way.
Blue lace agate helps to ground our communications with a sense of what can be accomplished.
Blue Topaz Helps us to communicate fearlessly that which we know to be true, and also stimulates creativity.

Chrysocolla helps one to have self-confidence in personal expression.
Larimar enables us to communicate with others that which we feel deeply in our hearts and souls.
Turquoise helps us to enroll others to help in the manifestation of our desires.

Daily OM for July 24 – Chronic Lateness

Chronic Lateness

Unconscious Communication

by Madisyn Taylor

When people are chronically late, they are in essence saying that their time is more important than yours.

Being late for an appointment or a date can seem like a small thing that really doesn’t matter, but it communicates volumes, whether we mean it to or not. Being kept waiting is an experience that almost no one enjoys, because at best, it wastes their time, and at worst, it indicates a lack of regard. It’s as if we’re saying that our time is more important than their time, so we don’t need to honor them by showing up when we said we would. When we are running late, it means a lot if we call and let the person know, especially if it’s going to be more than ten minutes. However, if we are chronically late, it may take more than a phone call to properly address the issue.

If it’s become a habit of ours not to be on time, we may want to look inside ourselves and see what’s going on. It’s easy enough to make excuses about our behavior, or to project responsibility on the other person, perceiving them to be uptight if they are irritated by our tardiness. What’s more difficult, and more meaningful, is looking at ourselves and asking why it is that we always, or often, show up late. Sometimes this happens out of a lack of self-regard, as if we aren’t really important anyway, so why will anyone care if we’re late, or don’t show up at all. Chronic lateness can also stem from being disorganized, or simply trying to do too much in one day. Another possible reason for being late to a particular appointment, or date, is that we don’t really want to be there. We communicate our disinterest or boredom by not showing up on time.

Whatever our reasons, if we raise them to the conscious level, we have an opportunity to live a more conscious life. As we begin to understand the deeper reasons behind our inability to show up on time, we have the option to communicate clearly and consciously about how we really feel, rather than communicating unconsciously by being late.

Your Daily General Horoscopes for June 2

Aries

Just 6 days before Mercury, planet of communication is due to leave your communication sector he catches up with Venus, planet of love today or more appropriately their paths cross, bringing heart and mind together and giving both a voice. With Mercury moving forward and Venus retrograding back, they’re like ships that pass in the night, providing a fleeting opportunity to connect in a very intimate and authentic way.

Taurus

Today’s alignment between Mercury and Venus, in your income sector is an unusual one, for they are travelling in different directions and this is less an alignment and more a case of crossing each other’s path. While Mercury’s smart head for money and Venus’ income desires temporarily come together, so too does Mercury’s focus on the road ahead and Venus’ on the road behind. All of a sudden you’re able to see where you’ve been and where you’re going.

Gemini

Just 4 days before Venus is due to cross the face of the Sun in a spectacular and potentially game changing Venus eclipse, she has a less spectacular practice run today. For the first time since returning to your sign nearly 2 months ago Venus has a close encounter with another planet, aligning briefly with Mercury. With Mercury moving forward and Venus in retrograde motion as your heart and mind come together, so too does a clear sense of where you’ve been and where you’re going.

Cancer

Having the Moon in your romantic sector, having coming full circle from last month’s super Full Moon, is giving you a chance to tap back into the feelings evoked then and a chance to gain a better understanding of what might not have made sense then. This comes just as Mercury and Venus align in an intuitive part of your chart, not only putting heart and mind on the same page but foresight and hindsight as well.

Leo

There is both a sense of synchronicity in the air today and a mix of foresight and hindsight, as Mercury and Venus align in a social and serendipitous part of your chart. With Mercury in direct motion and Venus in retrograde motion, this is less an alignment and more a case that their paths cross today. With Venus opening the door to second chances and Mercury working to open new communication lines, the scene is set for some serendipitous moments or encounters.

Virgo

As Mercury and Venus align in your career sector today this brings together Mercury’s intellectual savvy and Venus’ professional desires, as well as a clear sense of hindsight and foresight. With Mercury in direct motion and Venus in retrograde motion, this is less an alignment and more a case of their paths crossing and for a brief moment this allows you to put heart and mind, as well as past and future, on the same page.

Libra

Just 10 days before Jupiter is due to leave your financial sector the Moon is managing to fit in one last visit to your income sector, ensuring that you have a nose for money and you’re on your toes. However, an alignment between Mercury and Venus in an adventurous part of your chart is making it hard to focus too much on the money, especially as you begin to wake up to the fact that money is simply a means to an end.

Scorpio

An alignment between Mercury and Venus in your financial sector today brings together more than just Mercury’s smart head for money and Venus’ financial desires, putting them on the same page, it brings together a clear sense of where you’re going and where you’ve been. With Venus in retrograde motion she’s already been where Mercury is only just heading and she’s about to retrace the same steps Mercury has just taken, bringing a mix of hindsight and foresight.

Sagittarius

Today’s alignment between Mercury and Venus, the planets of communication and love in your relationship sector today, is the first real support that Venus has had and a sign that things are coming together. In the nearly 2 months that Venus has been here, this is her first contact with another planet and with heart and mind on the same page and the doors to the past and future both open, this creates a special day for relationship matters.

Capricorn

The Moon, Mercury and Venus are all competing for your attention today and they’re divided into two camps. While this may create some conflicting forces, if you manage your time well you could achieve the right balance. For while Mercury and Venus are aligned in your work sector, putting both heart and mind and also the past and future into context, the Moon is creating some social and serendipitous vibes, that have the power to put you in the right place at the right time.

Aquarius

Conflicting forces today mirror some major conflicts of interest you’re going to face in the second half of the year, giving you a chance to practice gaining the right balance. As the Moon makes his first visit to your career sector since last month’s dramatic Full Moon, evoking your professional instincts and bringing home some important messages, Venus and Mercury align in a romantic and playful part of your chart. Find a way to hold onto your professional edge and a sense of playfulness at the same time.

Pisces

As Mercury and Venus align in your home and family sector this creates a chance to not only put heart and mind on the same page, but to gain a sense of hindsight and foresight. With Venus in retrograde motion the door is open to second chances, while Mercury is moving forward, working to ensure your mind is sharp and the communication lines are open. They are about to retrace each other’s steps, with a lot of things falling into place from today.

Now visualize in your minds eye a stair case with 10 steps. as you begin to descend the steps see each step, feel the step under your feet. Starting at 10, than 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, getting deeper into a relaxed state with each step, 3, 2, 1.

When you reach the bottom you’ll see a door that leads to a special room that only you can enter into. It can be any scene that you want, when your ready open the door and walk in, look around and sense your surroundings. What’s in the room? What does it smell like? or feel like to you?

If you want you can sit down or walk around and change anything you want (remember it’s your room) do what you like.

When you ready you will see a person coming towards you, you are not scared, you feel love and are comfortable,( this is your spirit guide) As he or she walks closer to you they will offer you a gift, take it, open it. What is the gift? what does the gift represent to you? Thank them for the gift.

Now you may ask any questions that you may have for them. eg: name, age, or maybe any special messages they may have for you. Take you time!

When your ready to leave say good bye. You may go back at any time you wish.

Go out the door and begin to start up the stairs.. with each step you will begin to feel more energized, more awake. when you reach the top you will feel better and more energized than before.

Open your eye’s and stretch and drink some water.

If it is for the best they will almost always help.

To talk with a guide, do a visualization in which you call to them.

They will come if they choose.

If they do not, try again later or try to work out the problem on your own.

If your guide is a physical one just talk with it. It will help if it chooses.

Talk with your guide. Ask it to teach you. Get to know your guide as you would get to know any close friend. Spend time with it.

You will learn how to work with it as you get to know each other, as you learn to become a team and understand each others needs.

Your Daily Horoscopes for August 4th

The relationship-oriented Libra Moon encourages us to reevaluate how our individual desires conflict with the needs of the people closest to us. Nevertheless, it will require some extra effort to communicate what we want because Mercury is retrograde, prompting others to misinterpret what we say. Thankfully, we receive support when assertive Mars forms a supportive sextile to Mercury, motivating us to try again if we miss the mark the first time.

Although something might have gone awry in a relationship recently, it simply may be due to a breakdown in communication. Unfortunately, a disagreement could arise if the other person cannot understand your point of view. Fortunately, there’s no need for complete resolution now; bring up your thoughts and then let them go. You can return to the discussion when your partner is ready to engage in the conversation.
