A Little Humor for Your Day (In Honor of My Dad who was an Avid Fisherman)
Jim fished all day long but didn’t catch a thing. He decided to quit fishing and left his equipment on the river bank. A fisherman came by and picked up Jim’s gear. He cast his line and immediately caught a large fish. Jim told him, “I’ve been here all day and didn’t catch anything. You caught a fish in seconds. How did you do it?” The fisherman replied, “You have to keep the worms warm.”
A woman is walking on a beach in Texas carrying two Redfish in a bucket. A game warden stops her and asks, “Do you have a license to catch those fish?” The woman says, “No, sir. These are my pet fish. Every day I take them to the water and let them swim for a while. Then I whistle and they jump back into the bucket and we go home.” The warden says, “That’s a lie. Fish can’t do that.” The woman tosses the fish into the water and says, “Watch this.” After several minutes, the warden says, “Well?” The woman says, “Well, what?” The warden says, “When are you going to whistle?” The woman says, “What whistle?”

Welcome to WOTC! A Thought for Your Day
My dad crossed into the Summerland in 1970 one month before my 12th birthday. I an longer remember his voice. I have a hard time remembering his face without looking at a picture. I often wonder how different my life might have been if he hadn’t crossed when I was so young but as a believer in everything happens for a reason I have slowly come to know his death was for a reason although I will never know the reason. Being a Spirittalker I can at least “talk” with him sometimes. My oldest son is named after him and my dad’s mom refused to hold him as a baby because he looked just like my dad. He still has a close resemblance to him as he approaches his 50th birthday. I empathize with everyone who father has crossed no matter what age you were when they did. For those of you whose dad is still walking this plane I urge you to spend time with him and get a video of him talking about something that is special to just the two of you. When my dad crossed it was a time before we carried a video camera with us wherever we go so I couldn’t get one. Also, remember no one but you knows how you grieve someone and anyone who says just get over it can go to Hades!

For Those of Us That Need Some Self-Care Today
Being strong is not something that was always clear to me, it is something that I learned along the way, in moments where I had no other option.
I remember when everything seemed to fall apart. The expectations I had for life were not met and the people I trusted the most disappointed me. It was there that I understood that I couldn’t depend on others to feel complete or safe. I learned that true strength is born when you face loneliness, and instead of feeling weak, you decide to turn that loneliness into your ally.
Life taught me that pain is not an enemy. He taught me that crying does not make you less strong, on the contrary, it gives you the ability to feel deeply and heal. In every tear lies a lesson, a reminder that, after the storm, calm always comes.
Being strong is not about keeping quiet about what hurts you, it is about speaking firmly about your fears and accepting them. It’s not about pretending that everything is fine, it’s about accepting that there are bad days, but not letting those days define you.
I have learned that it is not about not falling, but about how you get up. And you don’t always do it immediately, sometimes it takes time, but the important thing is not to stay on the ground. I have fallen many times, I have stumbled over my own mistakes and the difficulties that life has put in front of me, but each time I have gotten up more confident in who I am.
Being strong is understanding that self-love is the basis of everything. You can’t expect others to fill the gaps that only you can fill. I learned to be my best friend, to be kind to myself on my worst days, and to celebrate every little achievement, because it’s those moments that remind me how much I’ve grown.
What taught me to be strong was life itself, with all its imperfections and challenges. And although I still have a lot to learn, I know that as long as I maintain that inner strength, I can handle anything that comes.

A Note From Lady Carla Beltane
I woke up this morning crying from dreams filled with happy and not so happy memories. From being about 6 or 7 years old playing hockey and working on cars with my dad, birthday March 25, 1934, who crossed on April 1, 1970 very suddenly to my familiar/emotional support/companion dogs Princess Starbabie, 11 years 11 1/2 months old, dying in my arms February 21, 2024 and Drama Queen Cleopatra JAWS, 15 years 5 weeks, going into eternal sleep April 1, 2024. All these dates within 6 weeks and spanning 54 years caught up with me. I am very sad and in a lot of physical pain between a Fibromyalgia flare, arthritis, and my right knee injury I’m not having a good day so far at as all so this and the Daily and Birthday Horoscopes Traits posts will be the only ones today. If I start feeling better emotionally and mentally later I will do the rest of the regular daily posts. The positive happening is Crystal Moon is trying her hardest to make “mom” feel better. I am grateful to have her in our lives. She is training for emotional and physical balance support. She has become for the day we got her to show she is my familiar and loves being present in any circle I work magick in, sitting very quietly unless I ask her to add her beautiful energy to a spell. I do not look at her as a replacement for Star or Cleo but as a gift from them to help and guide as they had. I see some of each of them in her attitude and mannerisms.

Alder flowers and twigs are known as charms to be used in Faerie magic. Whistles were once made out of Alder shoots to call upon Air spirits, so it’s an ideal wood for making a pipe or flute if you’re musically inclined.

Alder tree in Celtic mythology – balanced between male and female
In Celtic mythology, the alder tree was symbolic of a balance between female and male principles since it possesses both female and male catkins on the same branch.
Fearn, F – The alder represents the third letter of the ogham alphabet ‘Fearn’ and the fourth month in the Celtic tree calendar.
The alder is a member of the birch family generally found near streams, rivers, lakes and wetlands. It is known for creating a fertile, lush environment for surrounding animal and plant life.

The druids also associated the tree with courage and the evolving spirit, and linked it with death and resurrection. This belief was shared in Austria too, where the wood of the alder was thought to make the dead come back to life.
Ogham, the mysterious language of the trees The Origins of the Ogham alphabet are still a mystery for many historians, but it is primarily thought to be an early form of the Irish written Language.
In Irish mythology the first human man was made from the alder tree which is considered a tree of the fairies, protected by the water fairy-folk but also representing fire and earth.
In parts of old Ireland it was considered a crime to cut down an alder tree because the tree spirit would get angry and burn down houses in revenge.
This possibly came about because when felled, the wood of the alder turns from white to an unnerving blood red due to its bright red-orange sap.

The sap, leaves and bark of the alder were all used to make dyes; green from the leaves, red from the sap and brown from the bark. The dyes were often used to tan leather. Wood of the alder is flexible and resistant to the rotting effects of water.

Due to these qualities it was often used to build bridges, pipes, milk pales and pilings for causeways across marshlands. Parts of Venice were built on alder pilings.

According to the Woodland League of Ireland, the value of the alder to the Irish in the past was for making clogs, masts of ships and shields. Alder wood was particularly impressive as a shield.
It is so hard that if an opponent buried his axe in the shield, he would find it almost impossible to withdraw it. This would render him defenceless and an easier target to attack.
The alder supports more than 70 different insects, many of them specific to the alder, meaning they can’t survive on another tree.

All Signs
On Thursday the Sun enters Aries, the first sign of the zodiac. In the Northern Hemisphere, this is Spring (the vernal equinox) when the Sun crosses the equator giving us equal hours for day and night. As such, this is the perfect week to define future ambitions and strategize how to reach your objectives. Get proactive! However, (yeah, there’s always a catch) because both Mercury and Venus are retrograde right now – don’t just concentrate on building your future. It’s equally important to reckon with the past and start to clean up old messes especially with romance or negative thought patterns. A little mantra I like: “If you’re not enjoying yourself this minute, then you’re wasting your time.”
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Well, there’s no time like the pleasant. This week the Sun enters your sign to initiate the Astrological New Year and your birthday! Obviously, birthdays are classic times to set goals. However, it so happens that both Mercury and Venus are retrograde in your sign as well, which means this is also the perfect time to rethink and renegotiate issues with spouses, partners and close friends – as well as ex-spouses and ex-partners. (Oh yeah.) Fortunately, you’re in a positive frame of mind. Meanwhile, you’re letting go of people, places and possessions you don’t need. “Be gone!” Later this year, your family, home and real-estate scene will be blessed!
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Everyone will sense the “newness” of the vernal equinox this week. However, you are the only sign to have this event take place in a hidden part of your chart, which means you might feel less excited about beginning “new things.” In fact, you’ll be more influenced by the fact that Mercury and Venus are retrograde (behind the scenes in your chart), which will encourage you to research, dig for answers, study the past, seek solutions to existing problems and rethink a secret love affair. This week is an exciting turn of events for you because your Astrological New Year begins with lucky Jupiter in your sign, which bodes well for your good fortune. In the next four weeks, you’ll be more popular, especially because old acquaintances, old friends and perhaps old flames are back in your world. Meanwhile, because this “New Year” begins on note of optimism and confidence for you, you will attract good opportunities to you. Oh yes. Others see you as warm, generous and inspiring. Personally, you’ll have a strong urge to learn and explore through travel, education or hearing ideas from others. You’re working hard this week, and you’re spending as well. Money in – money out.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
As this week introduces the “New Astrological Year” (and the vernal equinox), you’ll be noticed by others because this is the only time all year when the Sun is at the top of your chart thrusting you in a flattering spotlight! (Smile but look appropriately modest.) Meanwhile, because others will admire you and see you as super capable (even if you don’t do anything different), you will be asked to accept increased responsibilities or to do a special job. Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
As this Astrological New Year begins, you want a change of scenery. You want to do something interesting and stimulating. If you can’t travel, then explore your own city — do exciting things! Visit galleries, museums, new restaurants and unfamiliar neighbourhoods. Talk to people from fascinating backgrounds. Be a tourist in your own town. This is also a great time to finish writing projects, important papers and manuscripts. (Yes, that screenplay.) Meanwhile. Mars might provoke hidden anger and frustration to surface within you. You might be easily irritated. Or hey, you might make a breakthrough in your personal growth? Don’t beat yourself up with second doubts and self-recriminations. Be kind to yourself. After all, life is short (and fat.)
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
As this vernal equinox heralds the Astrological New Year, your focus will shift to finances, taxes, debt and anything that you hold jointly with someone else. You might also have encounters with others that produce the need for psychological self-inquiry within you. Someone might challenge your value structure? Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
Time to hustle! As this Astrological New Year begins, you’re pumped to work hard and get things done. “I’ve got a plan, Stan.” This is why you will make lists and make an effort to be as efficient as possible. In fact, some of you will extend these high standards into how you can improve your health as well. And why not? Why not have it all? Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
It’s play city for you for the next four weeks. (Mom always liked you best.) Once a year you have opportunities to please yourself and do your own thing. Well, that time has arrived! Accept invitations to socialize and party with others. Enjoy schmoozing. Experience the arts – the entertainment world, sports events and movies. Explore romance and saucy flirtations that will pique your interests and desire. Many of you will enjoy playful activities with kids as well. Obviously, the next four weeks are the perfect time for a vacation or a fun getaway. Meanwhile, Mercury retrograde will attract old flames back into your world. If not in actuality, then in your dreams. Retrograde Venus will heighten this. Romance is in the air!
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
For the next four weeks, your focus will be on home, family and your private life. Some of you might enjoy family reunions. Certainly, relatives you haven’t seen for a while will be popping up out of the woodwork, sleeping on your sofa and eating out of your fridge. Actually, this is a good time to finish old business with relatives. Perhaps do some closure or get agreement? It’s also an excellent time to finish home repairs and redecorating projects.
