A Thought for Today

I know I have been gone for the last few days and I apologize if it has inconvenienced anyone. Life has been in the express lane with trying to help Big Dawg get his job done, which entailed around 1,000 miles from Thursday to Saturday, so we have the money we need to catch up on bills and stay current with them. Yesterday, Sunday, was Big Dawgs birthday and we hosted a birthday luncheon for family and friends. I also have not been feeling well with low energy levels in every aspect of my physical and spiritual life. I finally got a full night of decent sleep last night after a week of yucky, broken sleep every night. But I’m feeling better more grounded and centered so I will do my best each day to being you the regular daily posts. I hope to go back to doing the northern hemisphere’s tomorrows posts too. Thank you for your support and patience during my absence!

May you and yours be blessed with a lot of positive energy dear Sisters, Brothers, and friends.

All Signs

This week the Sun moves into Scorpio to stay (once a year) for four weeks. As the nights lengthen, we enter a more brooding, intense time. (“Winter is coming.”) Loyalty, betrayal and passionate feelings will intermingle with a saucy playfulness as this different energy affects us all. Tuesday might be the best day of the month to be productive and get things done. Yay! By contrast, Wednesday and Thursday are relaxed and dreamy – the lull before the storm. Storm? The Lunar eclipse on the weekend is nasty and can create arguments that erupt out of nowhere. Long suppressed feelings might explode. (We’re talking some serious angst.) Meanwhile, did you know that in one day, your blood travels 12,000 miles – and more, if you eat donuts?

Aries (March 21-April 19)

The next four weeks will be more passionate and intense in practically every aspect of your life. Not just physical intimacy, but also your feelings dealing with partners and friends, especially about financial matters and shared property. You might get your belly in a rash over disputes with insurance companies and banks. Get as much done as possible on Tuesday because this is a productive day. Lie low on the weekend because you are a warrior sign, and when the proverbial caca hits the fan, you’ll be tempted to overreact. Remember that this friction on the weekend is temporary. Let it go.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

For the next four weeks, you will need more sleep because the Sun has moved directly opposite your sign. Since the Sun represents energy, and it is now as far away from your sign as it can get all year (in your chart) – you will be more tired. Meanwhile, this polarized position of the Sun will create a stronger than usual focus on spouses, partners and close friends. The upside is it will give you more objectivity into how you relate to others. You can learn a lot. You can improve your closest relationships. Having said that, by the weekend, you might face some serious opposition from loved ones – spouses, partners and friends. (Is there no justice?)

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

This is a high-energy time for you, which is why you will be productive, especially in the next four weeks, because the Sun, Mercury and fiery Mars are all in your House of Employment. This will make you work hard, even if you’re retired. You will set yourself high standards to accomplish a lot. In particular, you will want to work efficiently and effectively because you want your efforts to count. (No slackers!) This is a lovely week to redecorate at home and entertain. However, postpone ideas to do this on the weekend because the Lunar eclipse will create agitation and tricky times dealing with family and friends.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

On the whole, life will be favourable for you in the next four weeks because the Sun has now moved into your fellow Water sign of Scorpio. This means the energy will be supportive to you. Furthermore, the Sun will be travelling through one of the most fun parts of your chart, which is why you will be more playful, creative, artistic and eager to have good times and fun with others, especially children. (Yay!) This is a lovely window to slip away on a vacation if you can. By all means, enjoy sports events, socializing with others and expressing your creative talents. This weekend, be patient with children. Be patient with romantic partners.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Home, family and your private life will be a strong influence for you in the next four weeks because the Sun will be sitting at the very bottom of your chart. (This is the only time all year this occurs.) Some of you will be more involved than usual with a parent. You will certainly be more hands-on with home repairs as you deal with increased chaos, activity and tension on the home front (especially this weekend). Use your playful theatricality to deal with any insanity that you encounter. Meanwhile, you can attract money to you during this time. You will also enjoy spending money to buy beautiful things for yourself and loved ones. Whatever happens, you continue to look mahvelous to everyone!

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Be careful and pay attention to everything you say and do in the next four weeks because this window of time will be busy and fast-paced! You might be inclined to speak or act without thinking. (Ouch.) Short trips will be the order of the day. Plus, you will see new faces, new places and be full of new ideas! It’s an excellent time to learn and study. Many of you will be more involved with neighbours, siblings and relatives. You will also want to travel, if you get a chance. Do be aware that this weekend will create an accident-prone energy for you, so be cautious. Fortunately, fair Venus in your sign makes you charming and diplomatic. (A lifesaver.)

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

This Scorpio Sun, which enters your chart this week (to stay for four weeks) will heighten your involvement, interest and fascination with money, earnings and cash flow. You will work harder to earn money. You will have moneymaking ideas. You will also spend money, perhaps large! This weekend the Lunar eclipse (Full Moon) will very likely create some kind of financial angst for you. Something might literally come to a head. It could relate to debt, inheritances, wills, estates or the wealth and resources of someone else. Of course, at this time in your life, you’re working hard, which ties in with your focus on money and earnings. (Even if you’re retired.)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Once a year the Sun enters your sign to stay for four weeks and that time has arrived. This means you can use this time to recharge your batteries for the rest of the year! You will feel hyped, pumped and raring to go! You will pursue activities that rejuvenate and replenish you, even if it’s exercise or yoga and meditation – both ends of the spectrum. With fiery Mars in your sign now, you have an increased energy to add to the energy of the Sun. (“Look out world!”) And Mercury in your sign makes you talkative and eager to reach out to others. You will also be busy, active and keen to take short trips. Venus will promote warm interactions with friends and groups. Avoid conflict this weekend. Too draining and pointless.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Because your birthday is looming ahead, the next four weeks are a quieter, preparatory time for you. You will fare better by staying in the background and working alone or behind the scenes. Use this “downtime” to think about what you want for your new year ahead (birthday to birthday). This is the perfect time to identify some goals for the next year. Goals give you a clearer focus on what is important. They give you more clarity in decision-making. They give you better control over your future. And they certainly, give you a sense of purpose. Meanwhile, Venus at the top of your chart sweetens all your relations with authority figures, including parents. (Nice.)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Everyone wants to see your face for the next four weeks, so get ready! Buy something new to wear so you feel confident and pleased with yourself. This is because your interaction with friends as well as groups, clubs and organizations will definitely increase. Quite likely, you will hang out more with younger people. Incidentally, this is an excellent time to set goals for the future. (Read Sagittarius above to see the advantage of making goals.) Travel will also appeal to you, so if you can get outta Dodge – by all means, do so! Meanwhile, be patient with children and friends this weekend. Likewise, be patient with romantic partners.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Once a year, the Sun sits at the top of your chart for four weeks. That time has arrived. Symbolically, this means the Sun is shining down on you, casting you in a flattering spotlight, making you look wonderful to others. Especially bosses and parents (including the police). People are impressed with you even if you don’t do anything special. (Good lighting is everything!) Obviously, while this curious, magical phenomenon is at play, now is the time for you to make your pitch and go after what you want! Financial benefits from others will come your way. (Excellent window of time to seek out a loan or mortgage.) Avoid family arguments this weekend during a wicked Full Moon. Do what you can to keep the peace.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Your ruler is Neptune, and Neptune rules the ocean. As the nights get longer and the weather gets colder – many of you will long to walk barefoot in white sand, sipping a drink with a pink parasol in it, while you gaze at the moon light shimmering on the ocean. The perfect escape! If you can travel in the next four weeks – do so! If not, you can explore avenues in publishing, the media, medicine, the law or higher education. You might take a course or go back to school. Meanwhile, be careful this weekend. Avoid arguments, especially about controversial subjects. Don’t try to win. Do what you can to keep your peace of mind!

Some of the Witchcraft/Magickal Correspondence for Thursday

Thursday is a Jupiter day. Here is the day of the week for prosperity, abundance, and good health. Thursday is “Thor’s day.” This Norse god gave the day his name and many of his attributes, including strength and abundance. Some suggestions for Thursday enchantments would include:

Wearing a regal and royal shade of blue to see how it affects your mood and your magic. Other colors for the day include purple and green.

Carrying a turquoise tumbled stone in your pocket to draw a little protective and healing energy your way

Incorporating honeysuckle blossoms and cinquefoil foliage into prosperity charms

Calling on Thor for abundance, or on the Roman god Jupiter for the ability to peacefully referee a fight

Adding a few oak leaves—which are sacred to these Thursday gods—to your charms to see how much better your spell works out

Casting a charm with wheat stalks for prosperity, and calling on Juno Moneta to bring wealth into your life

Baking up some whole wheat bread and blessing it for abundance. Be sure to thank the gods for your family and your good health.

All Signs

“What’s the latest possible date that I can still make something out of my life?” This is a question we procrastinators have. Relax because it’s not this week, because this week is all about being laid back and lazy. Thursday is nice for studying, planning and schmoozing; then the pace will pick up by Friday. Actually, for the rest of the year, no major planetary changes really occur. A few days ago, Mars moved into Scorpio for six weeks, which makes everyone more intense and bolder. (“V for Vendetta!”) Then, on Nov. 24th, Mars will move into Sagittarius for the rest of the year, which encourages travel plans and outdoor sports. So, relax and enjoy yourself. Let’s all play the game “Bureaucracy!” That’s where everyone stands in a circle and the first person to do anything loses.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

This week you will have intense, meaningful conversations with those who are closest to you. These conversations will be lively because someone has something to say. Perhaps they want to put their cards on the table? (Could be you – could be them.) Because Mercury is lined up with the Sun opposite your sign, someone is going to state their case. Nevertheless, this is also an excellent time to meet with others and make practical plans for the future. Down-to-earth discussions. Meanwhile, your sex drive is strong! Disputes about shared property might occur. Fortunately, relations with coworkers are excellent and mutually supportive. And of course, let us not forget that this is your year to get richer!

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Even though this is a laid-back week, you will actually get things done because you’re motivated with the Sun in your House of Employment. Therefore, you want to do things as efficiently as possible to be productive. Furthermore, you want to work in a very hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves way. Quite likely, someone older or more experienced will have advice for you, or they might directly help you. Nevertheless, let’s face it. You love your creature comforts so you will take time out for some fun, including playful games with children. Creative activities will appeal. Romance is also blessed. There’s no need to pretend to be what you are not.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

This week is play city for you! Grab every opportunity to get out and enjoy yourself. Meet friends for lunch, dinner, coffee or happy hour. Enjoy short trips, movies, plays and the entertainment world. Sports events will delight. Do whatever appeals to you because you’re in the mood to party and socialize! You will also love to express your creative talents if you get a chance. Meanwhile, redecorating projects plus entertaining at home will also appeal. Despite all these frivolous, fun diversions, you will still be productive because Mars will give you a sense of pride and personal satisfaction from your work. Naturally, you want the credit! “Look Ma, no hands!”

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Your focus on home and family continues. Family discussions are taking place and probably home repairs as well. This is just what’s happening. However, Mars is in the most playful part of your chart, urging you to get out and play. It’s time to be yourself and express to others exactly who you are. Mars will also amp your sex drive and your desire to flirt. You’ll also enjoy competitive athletic activities. Meanwhile, Venus is influencing your everyday activities, making you realize how beautiful your daily surroundings actually are. (Something we take for granted.) And likewise, you will realize how well you are liked by others. (How sweet it is.)

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Your fast pace continues with errands, short trips, visits, plus increased shopping as well as writing, reading and studying. (Gasp!) You’re multitasking and getting things done! You’re also able to earn good money now and attract money to you; however, you are tempted to spend it on beautiful things for yourself and loved ones. And why not? Life is short – and fat. Something going on at home might create conflict – certainly increased chaos or busyness or activity for some reason. Deal with this as best you can. As for shopping for pretty things – people admire you now! Look your best because you have an audience. Yeah!

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Your focus on money, earnings and cash flow continues, as you examine your relationship to your assets and belongings. What’s worth keeping? What makes your life easier? What is just too much trouble? You know that you want to establish greater control in your life, especially through your possessions and your assets because ultimately, this will give you more freedom. Meanwhile, this is a marvellous week for you to buy wardrobe items for yourself because you will like what you see in the mirror. It’s a great week to socialize as well. You won’t hesitate to reach out to others. In fact, you will be proactive and bold! (Great for sales and marketing.)

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You’re powerful this week because the Sun is still in your sign along with Mercury, which makes you eager to get out and talk to others. You want to express your ideas, and you’ll put a great deal of yourself into what you have to say. Even though you will enjoy fun-loving, busy diversions; nevertheless, you will still work hard to earn money because you’re spending it! Some might explore a secret flirtation or hidden love affair. (You like to have a little adoration on the side.) Although you will enjoy schmoozing with others, you will work this week because this entire year (and next year) is a special window where you are busting your buns. (Whew!)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You’re pumped with energy because Mars entered your sign a few days ago to stay until late November. When Mars is in your sign (for about six weeks every two years), you have more energy, more motivation and enthusiasm! This is a lovely blessing! It creates more activity in your life. It certainly is your chance to show the world what you can do. You’ll be more of a fighter for your own rights than usual. You will even stick up for others. Meanwhile, fair Venus is in your House of Friendships smoothing all your relations with friends and groups. It’s a great time for a party because you feel loving and affectionate to everyone. Romance will take on a friendly quality as well. Enjoy these good times!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

The Sun and Mercury are in your House of Friendships increasing your involvement with groups. Furthermore, friendships will be more important to you as well. You’ll find it very easy to cooperate with others, which is why it’s a great time for team efforts. Because your idealism is aroused, you might be involved with charitable, nonprofit organizations. Meanwhile, Venus is at the top of your chart making you look attractive to everyone, especially authority figures. In fact, you look so attractive, you might begin a romance with your someone important. (This is certainly the year to improve your job but I doubt a flirtation with your boss is how you will do it.) But, qui sait?

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

This is another powerful week for you with the Sun at high noon in your chart. This makes you look competent and successful to others (even if you aren’t). Nevertheless, don’t pretend to be something that you not because the truth will come out. Relax. Start to make plans about your future. Where do you want to be in five years? This is a good time to talk to bosses. It’s also a good time to influence groups. This might be in a professional sense, or you might coach or be involved in teams or athletic groups. Meanwhile, if you can travel and get a change of scenery – this is definitely the time to do it because you’re eager for adventure and stimulation! Do whatever pleases you this week.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

You have the travel bug, which is why you want to get outta Dodge. Many of you will fly south to get warmer and jump in turquoise waters. (Lucky you.) However, this is also an excellent time to explore opportunities in publishing, the media as well as avenues in medicine or the law. These doors will open for you. It’s a great time to study and write important papers or manuscripts. Fortunately, Mars is still high in your chart arousing your ambition; while fair Venus is in one of your Money Houses attracting wealth to you. (Yes!) Nevertheless, it’s a great week to relax; and it’s also a great week to spark romantic pleasures. Go do that voodoo that you do so well.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

This is a wonderful week to schmooze because fair Venus is opposite your sign, which means all your relations with others are beautifully blessed. In fact, you will enjoy socializing with others so much, you can even mend broken fences with your enemies. Yes, everyone loves you! If you can travel and explore new vistas, this will please you because Mars wants you to explore creative intellectual work, and anything that will expand your mind. Meanwhile, discussions about wills, inheritances, shared property and insurance matters will be sensible and practical. You’ll feel good about these results. Small wonder you feel so optimistic about your future this year.

A Thought for Today

I hope this fines everyone in good health, happy, and relaxed. As for me I am doing ok just been a very long, rough week with being in the car approximately 4 to 5 hours every day for Big Dawg to serve paperwork. Today isn’t much different for being in the car plus my monthly meeting with my apprentices along with our Samhain celebration and a wiccaning for a beautiful baby boy.

Enjoy the day no matter what you will be doing!

Current Moon Phase

You can use this link to go forward or backward in time for Moon phase information. If you are curious, you can even find out what phase the Moon was in when you or anyone else was born.

From MoonGiant.com

The Moon’s current phase for today and tonight is a New Moon phase. During this phase the Moon is too close to the sun in the sky to be visible. The moon rises and sets with the sun and is not present in the night sky. Because of this the night sky is darker and an excellent time to view other celestial objects. Like the Full Moon, a New Moon happens at a very specific time when the sun and moon have the same ecliptic longitude and it can be measured down to the second it occurs.

Visit the October 2023 Moon Phases Calendar to see all the daily moon phase for this month.

Today’s New Moon Phase

The New Moon on October 14 has an illumination of 0%. This is the percentage of the Moon illuminated by the Sun. The illumination is constantly changing and can vary up to 10% a day. On October 14 the Moon is 29.29 days old. This refers to how many days it has been since the last New Moon. It takes 29.53 days for the Moon to orbit the Earth and go through the lunar cycle of all 8 Moon phases.

The Moon’s current phase for today and tonight is a Waning Crescent phase. This phase is best viewed just before the sunrise in the western sky. In this phase the Moon’s illumination is growing smaller each day until the New Moon. During this part of the Moon cycle, the Moon is getting closer to the Sun as viewed from Earth and the night side of the Moon is facing the Earth with only a small edge of the Moon being illuminated. It can also be a great time to see the features of the Moon’s surface. Along the edge where the illuminated portion meets the dark side, the craters and mountains cast long shadows making them easier to observe with a telescope or binoculars.

Friday, October 13, 1307 CE and The Knights Templar

Yes, the Knights Templars were and are a Christian group but the fighting and good deeds they did centuries ago have always held a place in my heart. Basically, they were killed wherever they were in a small or large group or imprisoned on this date in 1307 because the Catholic Pope and King of France owed them to much money, they were consider the first bank with branches across the world at the time. The “bank” held money for those that were traveling through dangerous territory so they did not have to carry large amounts of gold or other monies and with a slip of paper from the location they deposited their gold or monies they could withdraw it or part of it at another Knights Templar’s location.

Today is Friday the 13th. Many people of the superstitious sort consider Friday the 13th to be unlucky. There are people who wear good luck charms all day and some who go so far as to refuse to leave home, lest something unlucky happen to them.

But many don’t know that one legend of the origin of Friday the 13th as unlucky comes from the persecution of the Knights Templar in the 14th Century. On Friday, October 13th, 1307, King Philip IV of France, in league with Pope Clement V ordered all Templars to be rounded up and thrown in prison. The Knights were accused of numerous crimes including heresy and treason. For two hundred years the Knights Templar had been the most dominant force in Christendom, but after their defeat at the Siege of Acre and the loss of the Holy Land, their influence began to wane.

Yet they still held enormous power and great amounts of wealth. Pope Clement sought to merge the Knights Templar with the Knights Hospitaller another powerful order at the time. Neither group found such a merger ideal. And despite the loss of the Holy Land, the Templars were still a part of of everyday life in the Middle Ages. Their houses, churches and …
