Moon Alert

Avoid shopping or making important decisions from 1 PM to 5 PM EDT today (10 AM to 2 PM PDT). After that, the Moon moves from Libra into Scorpio.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Today you’re in a position to take charge and go after what you want. In particular, this will apply to financial situations and any moneymaking ideas that you might have. Don’t be afraid to chase your dreams. Remember, you are the pioneer of the zodiac. You start things.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

You’re very persuasive today in presenting your case to others. Fortunately, Venus in your sign will soften your words. Nevertheless, you have solid, practical, moneymaking ideas; and bosses and people in power will listen to you. (Not too shabby.)

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

This is great day for research of any kind. You will find answers to old problems. Meanwhile, you can explore and discover practical solutions related to sports, children’s activities, plus anything related to the arts and the entertainment world. You’ve got this.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Although you are working low-key and behind the scenes, nevertheless, a discussion with someone younger or person in a group will be powerful. This could promote you into a leadership role because people will listen to you today. Make sure you have something to offer.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Today you are articulate and ready to show the world that you can walk your talk. You have ideas about how to improve things, which you want to share with bosses, supervisors and people who can make things happen. People will support you now.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You make a great impression on others now, which is something you can use to your advantage. In particular, discussions about travel, the law, medicine or anything related to university and college will be productive. People respect you and want to hear what you have to say.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Don’t shy away from taking the helm and making decisions because in fact, you know what you’re talking about today. You will be quick to see the bigger picture. You also see hidden solutions, especially regarding shared property and inheritances.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

A conversation with a partner or close friend will be powerful because you can see what goes on beneath the surface of things. It might be the elephant in the room, or you might simply say what you think out loud so that no one doubts what you’re talking about. (Somebody has to do it.)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

A serious discussion with someone close to you could be revealing today. You might see a way to improve the relationship. Meanwhile, you can get a lot done at work because you’re not afraid to take a stand and do what needs to be done. This could mean getting rid of something (or someone).

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Although you are in the public eye today, this is a productive day for you. People will follow your lead, especially children and younger people. Be confident and say what’s on your mind because you have the opportunity to teach others today either verbally or as a role model.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Home repairs, especially to bathrooms, plumbing areas and anything to do with garbage and recycling can be done today. Get rid of what is no longer needed. Tidy up the place, “and play when the work’s all done.”

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

You’re persuasive today. (Look out world!) Home and family continue to be a primary focus but your ability to convince others to see your point of view will be respected. Obviously, you can use this to your advantage if you are clear about what you want to achieve.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Actress Jeanne Tripplehorn (1963) shares your birthday today. You have a strong, vibrant, emotional personality. People are comfortable with you because you have excellent communication skills. Your loved ones are important to you. This is a year of building and construction for you, both in a literal, physical sense, as well as establishing more structure in your life.

Arp 286: Trio in Virgo

Explanation: This colorful telescopic field of view features a trio of interacting galaxies almost 90 million light-years away, toward the constellation Virgo. On the right two spiky, foreground Milky Way stars echo the extragalactic hues, a reminder that stars in our own galaxy are like those in distant island universes. With sweeping spiral arms and obscuring dust lanes, the dominant member of the trio, NGC 5566, is enormous, about 150,000 light-years across. Just above it lies smaller, bluish NGC 5569. Near center a third galaxy, NGC 5560, is apparently stretched and distorted by its interaction with massive NGC 5566. The trio is also included in Halton Arp’s 1966 Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies as Arp 286. Of course, such cosmic interactions are now appreciated as part of the evolution of galaxies.

Besom

From moonlitpriestess.com

A magickally charged broom generally used to sweep away negative energies. Sometimes used for home protection by placing above a door or window. Also used in fertility rituals for its association as a phallic symbol. In Handfastings, the besom serves as a sort of designator between one phase of life and another; couples will step or leap from their lives as individuals into their new lives as married couples.

From Spells8.com

A broom made of twigs tied around a stick. Used in cleansing rituals and to invite beneficial energies to a space.

Witch hunt

From witchipedia.com

A witch hunt is a scapegoating exercise involving a systematic search for individuals that represent an unpopular, unaccepted or inconvenient social or philosophical position for the purpose of persecuting them. Witch hunts are often carried out by people in power as a means to cement their power by weeding out threats or perceived disloyalty. A defining characteristic of a witch hunt is the use of propaganda to demonize the targeted population. Another is the tendency to declare guilt and rush to judgment with scanty or fabricated evidence, as the punishment takes priority over justice. I.e. Finding someone to punish is more important than finding the guilty party. The crime for which the punishment is deemed necessary may be exaggerated or fabricated and often takes place in secret, thus excusing the lack of evidence. Those lacking power and closer to the targeted population may participate in the witch hunt in the hope of achieving the goodwill of the powerful or simply as a means of self-preservation.

The term witch hunt is now a metaphorical term that derives from the literal witch hunts of the 1400-1700s in Europe and Colonial America; an era known as the burning times among modern Witches. During this period, several incidences occurred involving arrests and executions of sometimes quite large numbers of people for the charge of witchcraft on scant evidence. Most people jailed and executed during this period were certainly not witches and it is difficult to say if any actually were. Court records reveal “spectral” evidence and confessions under torture, leaving most convictions in question. But witches were a popular scapegoat when things went wrong, a belief encouraged by some religious organizations of the time in order to create a perceived enemy of God and the Church to blame “evil” doings on, thus cementing the power of the church and local clergy and anyone who decided to wear the mantle of religion in order to wield power.

Any misfortune could be blamed on a witch and then it was just a matter of deciding who got to be the witch. Some peasants might point out a “witch” in order to turn attention away from their own families in an act of self-preservation, but doing so might also be to their benefit, giving them some power and influence with local magistrates and sometimes even winning them some or all of the “witch’s” property. Thus, anyone who was inconvenient; perhaps not fully self-sufficient, or perhaps someone privy to a dark secret, or perhaps someone who liked to gossip or who was not as friendly or respectful as one would like, or whose dog kept getting into your chickens or who had a nicer bit of land than you presented a convenient target for their neighbors to report to the witch hunter. False accusations were rarely prosecuted.

While literal witch hunts do still take place today, they are generally limited to Africa and the Middle East. This is probably because most people in the West don’t believe in Witchcraft anymore and simply chuckle patronizingly at people who claim to be Witches. Metaphorical witch hunts, however, remain common in the West.

The term witch hunt entered the vernacular in the metaphorical sense in reference to McCarthy’s feverish search for Communist sympathizers and traitors in the US in the 1940s and 50s and Stalin’s feverish search for disloyalty in 1930s and 1940s in Russia.

This spell is very effective for removing envy and jealousy.

This spell is used to protect yourself from those who have nots who would seek to destroy your good fortune by placing the evil eye on you. The spell must be performed on a Thursday night. A Thursday that falls on or shortly after the new moon is best.

Cosmic Clouds in Cygnus

Explanation: These cosmic clouds of gas and dust drift through rich star fields along the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy toward the high flying constellation Cygnus. They’re too faint to be seen with the unaided eye though, even on a clear, dark night. Image data from a camera and telephoto lens using narrowband filters was used to construct this 10 degree wide field of view. The deep mosaic reveals a region that includes star forming dust clouds seen in silhouette against the characteristic glow of atomic hydrogen and oxygen gas. NGC 6888 is the standout emission nebula near the top. Blown by winds from an massive Wolf-Rayet star it’s about 25 light-years across and known as the Crescent Nebula. A faint bluish curl just below center in the frame is also the signature of a Wolf-Rayet star. Burning fuel at a prodigious rate and near the end of their stellar lives, both stars will ultimately go out with a bang in a spectacular supernova explosion. Toward the right, a massive, young O type star powers the glow of Sh2-101, the Tulip Nebula.

Spell for Today – Walk Backwards Return Spell and Concentrate Candle Spell

Wednesday is a good day to focus on getting over any slumps you may have. This day is considered the middle of the work week; and many people find themselves very tired by this point. That is why this day is a great day to do refresh, refrain, return, wake-up, and concentration spells. It is, also, another good day for meditation.

Walk Backwards Return Spell

Things you will need:
1 candle (any color)
1 lighter or match
Your body

Place a candle in front of you on a fire-safe surface. Sit or stand in a comfortable position in front of the candle and close your eyes for about three minutes. During the three minutes, think about what you want returned to you and how that item makes you feel. After the three minutes or so, get up and take twelve steps backwards and say this chant three times:

“Backwards walk.
Missing something yearned.
When I turn around,
It will be returned.”

After doing this, turn around three times, clockwise, and stop. Now, go blow out the candle, and your item should be returned to you soon.

Concentrate Candle Spell

Items needed:
1 small white candle
1 small blue candle
1 orange candle

Take all three candles and place them on a fire-proof surface in front of you. Light both candles. Take three deep breaths. Lightly tap your forehead with one of your fingers for a minute or so. You should feel a slight tingly sensation on your forehead. Now, look at the three candles and say this chant three times:

“I have the time.
I have the wait.
This should help me concentrate.
When it’s white And it’s blue,
It will start my mind a new.”

After you have finished, blow out the candles. From this point on, when you have problems concentrating, think of those white, blue, and orange candles, and the tingle in your forehead; and your mind should be better able to concentrate.
