Beith/Beth
Beith, or Beth, corresponds to the letter B in the alphabet, and is associated with the Birch tree. When this symbol is used, it is representative of new beginnings, change, release, and rebirth. In some traditions, it also has connections with purification.
Birch trees are hardy. They’ll grow just about anywhere, including on bare soil. Because they tend to grow in clusters, what may be just one or two seedlings now can be practically an entire forest in a few decades. In addition to being a sturdy sort of tree, the Birch is useful. In days gone by, it was used for infants’ cradles, and is still harvested today to make cabinets and furniture.
From a magical perspective, there are a number of uses for Birch. The branches are traditionally incorporated into the construction of a besom, and are used for the bristles. Use the white outer bark in ritual in place of paper or parchment–just be sure you only harvest the bark from a fallen Birch tree, not a living one. Ancient herbalists discovered that various parts of this tree can be used for medicinal purposes. Bark was once brewed into a tea to fight fevers, and the leaves were used alternately as a laxative and a diuretic, depending on how they were prepared.

Greek mythology is filled with respected gods and goddesses that continue to inspire. Artemis is known as the goddess of the hunt and is one of the most respected of all the ancient Greek deities. It is thought that her name, and even the goddess herself, may even be pre-Greek. She was the daughter of ZEUS, king of the gods, and the TITANESS LETO and she has a twin brother, the god APOLLO.
Not only was Artemis the goddess of the hunt, she was also known as the goddess of wild animals, wilderness, childbirth and virginity. Also, she was protector of young children and was know to bring and relieve disease in women. In literature and art she was depicted as a huntress carrying a bow and arrow. She was the goddess of many things, but most remember her as the most recognizable of the hunting deities.
Artemis was a virgin and drew the attention and interest of many gods and men. However, it was only her hunting companion, Orion, that won her heart. It is believed that Orion was accidentally killed either by Artemis herself or by GAIA, the primordial goddess of the earth.
In one version of the stories of ADONIS – who was a late addition to Greek mythology during the Hellenistic period – Artemis sent a wild boar to kill Adonis after he continued to boast that he was a far greater hunter than her.
The Origins of Artemis
Artemis’s origin story is a tumultuous one. She is the DAUGHTER OF ZEUS and Leto. Zeus is the well-known King of gods and the leader of MOUNT OLYMPUS. Despite the many stories of his greatness, Zeus’ weakness was infidelity to his wife, Hera.
Zeus impregnated a Titan called Leto. Hera became angry upon learning of Zeus’ unfaithfulness. In retaliation, she forbade Leto from giving birth on land. Eventually, she found solace on the floating island of Delos. There, she gave birth to Artemis and Apollo.
According to the Homeric Hymn to Artemis, the twins were born on Ortygia. Either way, most of the accounts say that Artemis came first. As a result, she was a fierce protector and nurturer of Apollo.
Not much is known about Artemis’ childhood. Some scholars say that she spent her time participating in archery, perhaps leading to her excellence in hunting.
Artemis Depictions
Artemis was the subject of many works of art throughout Ancient Greece and beyond. Usually, she was shown as a young and beautiful woman carrying a bow and arrow. Typically, she wore a knee-length tunic and was accompanied by various animals.
She was shown alongside various other SYMBOLS when talked about as the goddess of the moon or fertility. For example, she often wore a crescent moon crown or stood by women and nymphs.

In Greek mythology, Aristaeus was the god useful arts, such as bee-keeping and cheese-making, olive-growing, herding, and hunting. He was a rustic god, a god of the countryside and pastoral places.
Aristaeus was a minor god in Athens but a prominent god in Boetia, a farming region in central Greece, where he was known as “the pastoral Apollo.” Aristaeus is often pictured on Boetian pottery as a young man with wings.
Aristaeus also appears prominently in the mythology of Macedonia, Arcadia, Sicily, Sardinia, Thessaly, and Ceos. Later, stories about his travel emerged in order to account for his prominence in all these different regions.
Over time, Aristaeus became a popular Greek name, given to many famous public figures in ancient Greek politics and society.
Aristaeus’s Birth and Training
Aristaeus was the son of APOLLO and Cyrene. Apollo seduced Cyrene by promising she would be the founding mother of a great city raised in her name if she would go to Libya with him. After Aristaeus was born, he was taken by HERMES and raised on nectar and ambrosia. The Earth GODDESS GAIA then made him immortal.
Various GODS AND GODDESSES taught Aristaeus the rustic arts. Apollo taught him the art of healing with herbs. The goddess DEMETER taught him how to hunt and how to skin the animals he caught and tan leather. The god DIONYSUS taught him to make beer and wine. The great Earth mother Demeter taught him the arts of herding and agriculture.
From the Myrtle-Nymphs Aristaeous learning to make olive oil, keep bees for honey, and to make butter and cheese.
When Aristaeus became a man he sailed to Boetia and was schooled in deeper mysteries by the Centaur CHIRON. He married Autonoe, a daughter of Cadmus, founder of THEBES. They had a son named Acteon, who was also trained in hunting and other mysteries by the cave-dwelling Chiron.
Aristaeus, Ceos, and the Dog-Star Sirius
According to one myth, the Delphic Oracle advised Aristaeus to visit Ceos, where he would be greatly honored by the local people. When he arrived he found them falling ill due to the early morning rising of Sirius, the Dog-Star. Aristaeus put together a healing ritual that involved a sacrifice to Sirius at its first appearance, thereby cooling the weather and healing the sick populace.
Aristaeus also found that Ceos was overrun by murderers. He found them and had them executed, making Ceos safe once again.

In my house as a child the only time I got to eat a meal while sitting in front of the television was my breakfast on Saturday morning as long as my mom did not consider it messy. So, I think I ate cereal or toast with peanut butter on it every Saturday for most of my young childhood. After my dad crossed in 1970 I did not watch cartoons as much on Saturday mornings because whether he was at home or work, he drove an ambulance for what is now a large company in Illinois, providing he was not out on a call. I remember these times as some of the best in my childhood!

We have this in abundance in our home. I feel very lucky and blessed to have a man that loves me unconditionally and fur kids that do to! I feel the same about all of them.
What is your take on this quote?
This morning I did something hard, I opened the metal box my former familiar’s ashes came in, in 2007 to remove the last of his hair to be put into a clear container. I had just done the same with Dreamer’s hair and nail clippings so I am a little melancholy as I type this. My Boots was gotten as a family dog in August 1992 but it was apparent from the first day I met him he and I had a special bond. He crossed the rainbow bridge in November 2007 after having multiple grand and petti mal seizures over a six hour period. Was the decision super hard to assist him into eternal sleep? Hell, yes it was. At the time I was going to school to earn my veterinary assistant certification and as luck or a deity had decided I had just finished the lessons about seizures, so at least I knew what was happening and could make sure he was safe while in one. They started about 5:00 AM and did not stop until his assisted crossing of the bridge was done.
As the human who is in charge of keeping a furry family member fed, plenty of water, going out for bathroom breaks and exercise or keeping a litter box clean it can be a very hard task when it comes time to decide if our furry family members quality of life has gone down hill enough, not as the furry’s mom or dad but looking at it from a clinical distances (I know easier said than done), to assist them into their eternal sleep or not. I had to stand back and look at things through the eyes and brain of an animal medical person and tuck my breaking heart away for a little while to make a decision that was best for them. Yes, with Boots I could have spent a lot of money with a vet specialist and anti-seizure medications but after the third grand mal seizure, there were I think 6 or 8 total, his hearing had gone and he had trouble trying to get up from the floor onto his favorite blanket. He was whimpering as he had always went outside to relive himself that’s what he wanted. So, I picked him up and carried him outside than to my astonishment he got up walked to his favorite bush in the yard and did his things. Immediately afterwards he collapsed on the ground in another grand mal. Now in between the grand mal seizures he was having petit mal ones too. How many? I have no idea as I lost count after about 20. He was about 14 1/2 years old at the time of his crossing, he had come to live with myself, my mom, and children when he was 5 1/2 weeks old.
Boots was loved, well cared for, and played with all his physical life just as Dreamer was. Now I know they are together playing with Dreamer’s mom Gyspy and Dreamer’s pups that went before her. They both come often to visit. I feel Boots talked Dreamer into visiting us so soon after she crossed knowing how much his visits have helped me over the years since his crossing.
The main reason for this post is while we may not want to give up a furry family member when they are old and in pain or even young but injured badly we have to take what they need to be comfortable and have a good quality of life. If the way they have lived their life has been really compromised we need to do the right thing for them and let them go to cross to the other side of the veil. If you tell them or better yet ask them to come visit you after they have crossed the bridge I know for a fact that 9 out of 10 times they will do just that! Humans who have crossed come it they feel like it, if they don’t try another day. Good Day WOTC Family and Friends What is On Your Mind Today
Today our Dreamer has been gone physically from us for a week. Yes, today is a hard one again. I know with time it does not get easier with time it just gets different. Dreamer paid a visit to Big Dawg last Saturday and has been hanging out mostly with our three other fur kids which I know has made her crossing easier on them. We picked her ashes up this past Monday and kept it in the car with us as we worked that day. I had one very short visit in the car Monday when we stopped at a McDonald’s for burgers and fries while out delivering important paperwork to individuals, Big Dawg has been a process server for over a month now and I help keep him and all the paperwork organized. We only had the front two windows down a tiny bit, I was getting ready to put some fries in my mouth when I felt someone breathe on my neck. It could have been my familiar before Cleo and Star, but Boots never really liked McDonald’s french fries whereas Dreamer loved them. I called her by name, put a fry on my shoulder and felt her sniffing it. While humans or animals do not eat food as the living do, I thoroughly believe they can take in the smell and essence of it. When I set the fry on my shoulder Big Dawg asked me, “What in the hell are you doing?” I hadn’t told him Dreamer was in the car with us yet as I was being selfish as it was my first interaction with her since she crossed. When I told him we both had to try to hold back tears. I would be harder to bear this lose if we didn’t have each other, meaning the humans and fur kids.
This is one of the times in my life that being a strong empath is a curse rather than a blessing. I am able to pick up any kind of mammal’s feelings so with all of us trying to get use to a new normal of three live fur kids and one spirit fur kid it has been rough on me as I was picking up everyone in the house emotions. Tuesday morning, I finally had enough of feeling everyone else’s emotions and strength the wards and shield I keep around myself so I can leave my home. This is part of the reason why I took yesterday completely off. The other part was the horrible air quality where we live today and this past week, while it was definitely better here than many other parts of Illinois and the northeastern USA it was still bad for both of us as we have asthma. At least the sir is starting to clear some here!
