NEW MOON

NEW MOON

The New Moon is as powerful in its own way as the Full Moon. It is a time for taking stock. It is a phase of hibernation, retreat, and contemplation. Avoid crowds and gatherings and seek a little time for yourself. Rest is crucial during the New Moon. Simple foods and quiet times are powerful healers. Many women menstruate with the New Moon. It is natural to want to curl up in bed with a good book and nice cup of chamomile tea. Stronger nervines (relaxing herbs) are skullcap, hops, catnip, oatstraw, and valerian. After the New Moon ends and that first crescent appears, then the healing lunar cycle begins all over again. Most acute diseases do not last a full lunar cycle. The information in this article is only intended to be an educational tool, not a prescription. It is always wise to consult with your health care provider when experiencing any illness or discomfort. Awareness of the rhythms of nature can assist you and your health care provider in determining the best course of treatment at any given time. Naturally, some conditions will require that you apply therapies that don’t necessarily “fit” with the phase of the Moon.

Lunar Phases

LUNAR PHASES

The lunar phase is important in determining the best time for magick. There are basically two lunar phases: waxing moon (ideal time for positive magick) and waning moon (ideal time for banishing/negative magick, study, and meditation). In between you’ll have the dark moon (the time of greatest power for banishing and negative magick) and the full moon (the time of greatest power for positive magick). Most witches and pagans work around these lunar phases. However, others suggest a much more complicated subdivision of the moon phases. New Moon Magic (from the day of the New Moon to 3 1/2 days after) Timing: The magic should be performed between dawn and sunset for the best use of this magic. Conjuring: beauty, health, and self-improvement farms and gardens job hunting love and romance networking Crescent Moon Magic (from 3 1/2 days after the new moon through the 7th. day) Timing: The moon rises at mid-morning and sets after sunset. Conjuring: animals, business, change, emotions, matriarchal strength First Quarter (Waxing Moon) Magick ( from 7 to 10 days after the new moon) Timing: Sunset is the prime time for waxing moon magic. Conjuring: courage, elemental magic, friends, luck, motivation Gibbous Moon Magick (from 10 to 13 days after the new moon) Timing: It’s a wonderful time for working around 10:00 to 11:00 p.m. Conjuring: patience Full Moon Magick (14 days after the new moon) Timing: Midnight is the best hour to work. Conjuring: artistic endeavors beauty, health, and fitness change and decisions children competition dreams families health and healing knowledge legal undertakings love and romance money motivation protection psychism self-improvement Disseminating Moon Magick (3 to 7 days after the full moon) Timing: The time of souls is at 3:00 a.m. Conjuring: addictions, decisions, divorce, emotions, stress, protection Last Quarter (Waning Moon) Magick (7 to 10 days after the full moon) Timing: The moon rises at midnight and sets at noon. Conjuring: addictions. divorce, health and healing (banishing disease), stress, protection Dark Moon Magick (from 11 to 14 days after the full moon) Timing: As odd as this may sound, the strongest pull of the dark moon is around 10:00 a.m. Conjuring: addictions, change, divorce, enemies, justice, obstacles, quarrels, removal, separation, stopping stalkers and theft. Lunar Eclipses Eclipses represent the perfect union of sun and moon. Any type of magick is acceptable. There are 2 types of lunar eclipse: 1.Partial eclipse 2.Penumbral eclipse of the moon Moon Void of Course It’s said that the moon is void of course before it enters a new moon sign (Cancer, Leo, Virgo…). There is a sort of dead space when this is happening. The rule here is to avoid doing any important magick work while the moon is avoid of course. Don’t do any major magick work. Don’t complete any magick work.

HEALING CHARM TO BANISH SICKNESS

HEALING CHARM TO BANISH SICKNESS

Another charm to banish sickness is make by placing a gold coin in a glass of red wine.
Put this beneath the stars and waning moon for three nights, and each night drink one
third of the wine to shrink your sickness until it’s gone. This originated in rural Welsh regions,
with some similar spells appearing in Scotland and England.

THE WHEEL OF THE MONTH

THE WHEEL OF THE MONTH

The moons energies affect us on a more emotional level that is hidden to us
unless we carefully pay attention.

The first sliver of the waxing crescent moon represents the Northeast. She is
the newborn moon and reflects all possibilities. That first sight of the new
moon brings a sense of hope for the future.

As the moon moves toward the waxing first quarter, inspiration of the East comes
easily. This comes more often in the form of intuitions or dreams.

When waxing gibbous moon beings to assert herself in the sky, we are in the
Southeast. We may begin to become more aware of how we are feeling. We must be
careful to avoid confusing our feelings with who we are.

The full moon represents the South in all its power and full emotion. We tend to
feel wakeful and full of energy. We can use this energy to get out and enjoy
friends and activities.

As the moon moves into her waning gibbous phase in the Southwest, we calm a
little from the high energy of the full moon. Our emotions may begin to come to
balance as we see what we can create and accept what cannot be.

The waning last quarter moon of the West can at times be jarring. The moon seems
to be deserting us as she becomes smaller and smaller in the sky. Often emotions
must be released in order to be able to move on.

Gradually the waning crescent of the Northwest becomes smaller and smaller. We
are able to let go a little easier and are in a highly intuitive, receptive
state. Deep understandings may come to us at this time.

At last we cannot see the moon at all. We are in the dark of the moon, the
North. This is a deeply inner time that restores us in readiness for the first
glimmering of the visible new moon as we continue around and around.

Lady A’s Spell of the Day for Aug. 16th: Overcome an Obstacle

Overcome an Obstacle

Is something standing in the way of your financial or career success? Perhaps you’ll have to remove the obstacle before you can make progress. Whether the obstacle is an attitude or something physical, this spell can help you to over overcome it.

Best times to perform this spell:

  • During the waning moon

  • When the sun or moon is in Scorpio

  • On Saturdays

Ingredients or items needed:

  • An athame or kitchen knife

  1. Hold the athame (a ritual dagger) or knife in your right hand.

  2. Close your eyes and imagine you are in a jungle choked with vines and brush.

  3. Hold the dagger out in front of you and make slashing motions as you symbolically cut away the thick growth that’s blocking your path. Chop your way into a small clearing, where you see a suitcase full of money. Pick up the suitcase and take it with you.

Warning: If the obstacle is a person, don’t envision yourself slicing up him or her with your dagger–in your mind’s eye picture vines, which represent the situation rather than the individual.

And  please be extra careful with the dagger!

Before a Performance Spell

Before a Performance Spell

In the tarot, the Moon card represents the powers of the unconscious. Before you go onstage for a public presentation, take a moment. Stand straight, close your eyes, and relax your shoulders. Place your heels close together, but not touching, with your feet at about a right angle. Envision the Full Moon, overhead and slightly in front of you, glowing blue-white and clear. All that you have studied and practiced is within your unconscious. The light of the Moon will free this, and let it flow through your performance. Open your eyes very slowly, and feel this light continuing to flow. Take a slow breath, and let it flow easily out of you as you step on stage.

Make Someone Leave You Alone.

Make Someone Leave You Alone.

This is a variation on a popular spell used to stop someone from harming or bothering you. This must be performed during a waning moon.

On a piece of parchment or recycled paper, write the name that and birthdate of the person you are wishing “away”. Now fill an airtight container (like a baby food jar or tupperware container) with water. Add a pinch of one or more of these magical herbs: ash tree leaves, clover, lovage, lilac, garlic clove. Take the paper with the name on it and fold it three times. Tie a black string or thread around it and drop it in the water. Seal the container up and place it in a safe spot in your freezer. Once the person has left you alone or no longer poses a problem to you, take the container outside and empty it to the earth. Keep the container instead of leaving it to Mother Earth.

TO END UNWANTED ROMANTIC FEELINGS

TO END UNWANTED ROMANTIC FEELINGS

Focus your thoughts on the person you want to no longer have feelings for.
Think of all the reasons of yours & traits of theirs that you can, to back up your decision.
Write this person’s name on a small slip of paper.
Cross out the name with deliberation. Say:

“You no longer hold a special place in my heart.
You are not the right person for me.
I will bury my feelings for you here & make a fresh start.”

Bury this bit of paper & all your feelings about this person outside under a waning moon.

Moon Void Of Course

This term does not mean that the moon is invalid and everyone knows it but you. Void of Course refers to the time the moon spends between astrological signs. The term “void” refers to empty, and “course” refers to the path the moon travels. Technically, when the moon is void of course it means it has left the last aspect of one sign, and has not yet achieved the first aspect of the next sign. When you’re attempting to use lunar energy and the moon is between signs in this way, clearly defined lunar energy isn’t accessible.

Think of it as someone going through a tunnel when you’re trying to talk to them on a cell phone: their signal cuts out and you can’t communicate until they’re back on the open road again. It’s the same with the moon

A void can be anywhere between a few minutes to nearly two-day long.  The best thing to do is check an astrological calendar for lunar positions. A regular wall calendar or agenda usually tells you the moon phase, but nothing more. Pick up a copy of the Farmer’s Almanac and you’ll be able to plot out spells.

Can you perform a spell when the moon is void of course? Of course you can. You’d be better to draw on something other than lunar energy to power it, because otherwise your efforts are likely to fizzle.

Four Quarter

You average wall calendar divides the moon’s cycle into four equal phases called the first quarter, second quarter, third quarter, and fourth quarter. It would be remarkably nifty if these four quarters  matched the waxing full-waning-dark classification that the layperson observes by looking up into the night sky, but it isn’t so. The four quarters are each seven days long and as you probably know by observation, the full moon doesn’t last a week-long, nor does the dark moon.

The first quarter begins with the dark moon. The sun, moon, and the earth are all lined up during the beginning of the lunar cycle. This is a terrific time to launch new projects or undertakings, because the sun’s energy is traveling along the same energy paths as the moon’s energy, giving you a two-for-one zip to your magick. The moon rises in the early morning and sets around sunset, rising and setting a bit later each day. This is why you don’t see the moon for about three days; it’s keeping the same hours and position that the sun is keeping. When  the moon reaches a point where it’s setting slightly  later than the sun, it can be seen as a luminous slim crescent hanging low in the western sky for a few minutes after the sun goes down.  The first quarter is a good time to work on issues involving children, animals, plants and motivation.

The second quarter begins halfway between the dark moon and the full moon. The moon is seen as a half circle, which rise around mid-day and sets around twelve at night. The second quarter is excellent for expansion, patience, peace, family and harmony.

The third quarter begins with the full moon, rising at sunset and setting at dawn,  The full moon is ideal for powering those ventures you started at the dark moon and for almost everything knowledge, love, money, protection, dreams and psychic powers. Two days after a full moon is when the moon appears to begin waning. This begins a time of decrease; where you can prune away old and outgrown thoughts and  habits and discard what is no longer benefiting you. Use this energy for health and healing (as in banishing illness), protection, difficult decision and easing stress.

The fourth quarter begins halfway between the full moon and the dark moon. The moon rises just after midnight and sets around noon. This energy is good for justice, endings, separation, and limiting action or expansion.

These quarters aren’t absolute, of course; the moon moves through them all sequentially, occupying a lightly different position each day.

Thank the Goddess It is Friday!!!

Well it’s another Friday. I hope your is being a very happy and blessed day! I hope you have plans for an exciting weekend. It was beautiful here last night. It was around 70 degrees and the humidity was low. I sit outside last night enjoying the beautiful Full Moon and eating an ice cream cone. It was wonderous! Looking at the moon got me to thinking. I bet every witch in the world can tell what spells is supposed to be done with the Full Moon, Dark Moon, Blue Moon, Waning Moon and Waxing. But do you know you know what kind of spells can be casted during the light of day? I know the new ones just coming to the Craft probably have no idea, some may (don’t get mad at me now, lol!). But it is something we seldom hear about. I know I am trying to run this blog were it will be a teaching aid. I don’t have a thing on here about those correspondences. But I think it is high time I did. So today, I will be posting about different correspondences and their meanings. I hope you enjoy and I must warn you, some of them are long.

Using Quartz to Ease Unhappiness

If you are feeling out of sorts or can’t shake off a sadness, try this simple spell to lift your spirits. During a new moon phase, take a piece of clear quartz and place it on a bed of sea salt, either on a small plate or in a bowl. Light a white candle next to it and say this spell nine times:

Painful feelings leave me,
Bring joy and pleasure swiftly,
Angels heal my suffering,
Light up my heart with speed.

When you have said the spell nine times, close by saying:

So mote it be!

The Four Seasons

The year is divided into four seasons;

The first season is of a frigid complexion, and this is Winter;

The second is of the complexion of Air, and this is Spring;

Then follows the third, which is Summer,

and is of the complexion of Fire;

Lastly, there is the fourth,

wherein fruits are matured, which is Autumn.
