Soul Mates and Past Lives: How To Find Them and What To Expect

Soul Mates and Past Lives: How To Find Them and What To Expect
image
Author: Nita

I married my soul mate twenty-six years ago. Before we met, I thought it would be easy and that we would intuitively understand each other’s wants and needs. It didn’t happen that way and I didn’t know why! I failed to consider many aspects of what it would be like to actually live with my soul mate. He had problems in a completely different way than I did, due to how he had been raised. Our different life experiences caused problems also. I couldn’t help thinking that if this was my soul mate, how could a relationship with a regular guy have more problems than with him?

I looked up what a soul mate was and found some interesting information. A soul mate is a person who fills in all the gaps of your personality. I guess you would say that two soul mates are the yin and yang of a single person. Twin souls duplicate all of the personality traits of each other, including at times having the exact same experiences happen to them during their lifetime. I began to understand more of what I had been noticing about him and how our relationship worked. Twin flames are a variation upon twin souls but only together are the two people completed. Soul Mates can happen to clear up past karma and you can also be out of sync with a soul mate even if they exist in this lifetime.

Living with a soul mate is just as difficult as living with anyone else. Their personality faults and bad habits can drive you crazy. A soul mate is someone that you have bonded with in a past life. The soul connection can help you feel compassion even when they are at their very worst. Soul mates help their partners by expanding their viewpoints. They allow us to open ourselves up and see things in a different way. They feel in the gaps in experience we have by being included in their lives.

I enjoyed traveling and have traveled all over the country but I was never one to go hear bands play or attend musical concerts. My soul mate plays instruments and can really sing. I have heard many great bands and appreciate more types of music than I had ever thought existed. I have had a great deal of fun and found out that I could sing also. I never would have experienced this and many other rewarding things in our relationship if I hadn’t met my soul mate. I have met another soul mate that I am out of sync with in this lifetime. Yet I would be a great deal poorer in love and experience if I had not met these people.

Ask yourself and ponder some serious questions

•What character flaws do I have?
•Am I a difficult person to live with?
•Am I ready to share my life completely with someone?
•Could I like this person and enjoy expanding my life?

It is important to ask if you can like the person. A lot of people now tend to believe that sex and love are the only important questions in a relationship. They then marry someone and it doesn’t work out. The reason is that after the entire glow wears off in a relationship; each person looks at each other differently. I have seen couples stay together not because of sex or how the other person looks. They stay together because they can look at the other person and say “I love them, like them, and want to spend the rest of my life with them.”

You should realize that your soul mate will probably share many of the traits that cause you to be a difficult person. The moment you realize this, you will see that even when you both look at the same problems, your soul mate does things in a totally different or opposite way than you do. The important thing is the result. Different methods don’t matter as long as the end result is what both of you want to have happen. For example, I can be really stubborn at times, so I have little chance of finding a soul mate that is not stubborn in some way. I can depend upon him being stubborn but in a different way than how I am stubborn.

You can have more than one soul mate. This is because you have touched many souls in past lives and have often shared relationships with them. The more lifetimes you have lived, the more chances you will have of finding a compatible soul mate. It makes life really interesting at times. Different soul mates will complement you in different ways, and you learn different things with each soul mate. You may be out of sync with a soul mate which means that you never seem to both be in the position to experience each other. You are always with someone else or in the wrong place at the wrong time. It is still nice to know they are there where you can be friends and know someone else cares for you.

Soul mates appearing in my life have shown me the truth of past lives. A lot of clients of mine that have nightmares and dreams that are problems in their present lives are also dreaming about their soul mates. They have mental trauma occur about their past lives where they were separated or the other person died. It is the reason I stated that some soul mates appear in your life through past karma. It is because one or the other of you left something undone where you actually carried it over to the next lifetime. The two higher selves will join together to resolve the problems whether the soul mates are out of sync or not. It is because resolving the problems is the only way the two souls can experience and move on completely.

You can also have this occur between your soul and people you loved in any lifetime. I have met people that I knew immediately had been my sisters and brothers. Parents and other people I cared for in my life. I have seen this occur with clients who also know that something needs to be done to resolve problems. It is when people have past life issues that affect their lives.

Fear of water, dreams about war, evil people and any of variety of myriad problem dreams and visions can occur. The important thing is to realize you can attract the positive relationships in this life and resolve the undone business that is weighing upon your heart and soul.

The spiritual bonding between soul mates makes it possible for you to attract each other through magical means. This may not happen quickly, but it can be done. The reason that you can draw your soul mate to you is because of the previous bonding. It is like your soul getting a long distance phone call. One soul is saying to the other “I’m here, come get me. I’ve been so lonely without you in my life.” The following spell will help bring your Soul Mate to you.

To draw your soul mate you will need the following items:
•1 pink candle
•1 bottle of good quality myrrh oil
•1 empty picture frame

Instructions
Take the pink candle and anoint it with the myrrh oil. You anoint a candle by putting myrrh oil on a cloth or a finger and rubbing the candle upward. You completely cover the top half of the candle by moving the cloth or finger upward. You then use the myrrh oil to cover the bottom half of the candle by rubbing downward. Put myrrh oil on the tip of your finger. Then put your fingertip on the center of your forehead, and rub the oil into the skin.

Repeat this, and carry out the following ritual, every night for seven days before sleeping at night. You can keep repeating the spell until you find your soul mate. I have seen people draw their soul mate immediately. It took me seven years of doing this spell on and off. I knew he was my soul mate because I saw him in my dreams after I did the spell.

“I ask for you to come to me
I draw you by the bonds of our past lives and love
Show me your image and who you be
Come to me, come to me, come to me”

Now put out the candle and sit in the dark visualizing the image of your loved one appearing in the picture frame. Do not force an image but let the outline of a person be formed and then the features will form for you if you work on it long enough. You will then know the person who is supposed to be with you in your life.

I have known a few people who find that their soul mate is a three-month-old baby or a ninety-year-old person, and they are in their twenties. It doesn’t matter if you can’t find happiness and bond with another soul mate or with a soul that is compatible with you. It just means there’s more work for you to do on yourself before you will find someone. The most constant thing in the universe is Love and it is letting it into your life that is important.

We all learn from the good and bad things that happen to us. Love is something that is beautiful. But living and bonding with someone, especially a soul mate, can be hard work. The way to make things work is to treat the other person in the same way as you would like to be treated yourself, e.g., “To love one another, and to do unto others as you would be done by.”
You will find that a soul mate is the one person that will always be there for you. They are the people, as all the movies show, who will go to any length to aid and find their loved one. The rewards of finding a soul mate are beautiful and will last through many lifetimes.

One person can be at a different spiritual and mental level, but each of them will still learn from each other. Sometimes one soul progresses quicker than the other. If ever a soul mate is abusive then you should realize that you have done as much for them as you are meant to do. People sometimes mistake a person with a karmic tie as a soul mate. Working off the shared karma releases you from bad situations. But such a partner has to agree to grow with you and change. It is for the higher good of each of you to finish things up and move onward. You will then remove acceptance of abuse from your future lifetimes.

The soul mate for you always helps and supports you through the stages of your life. You both grow and are rewarded by the love, caring, and effort put into each other’s life. It doesn’t mean that you won’t have blockages, troubles, and problems to overcome. It does mean that you will always know that there is another soul and person who loves you

Controlling Creativity Spell

Controlling Creativity Spell
Here’s a little spell to help you get control of your creativity. Prepare your sacred space as normal, then light two yellow or red candles and call upon your muses. Mix a half cup of sand with three teaspoons vervain in a small bowl. On the sand, focus your intention of being block-free. Suffuse the sand completely with your will. Hold an obsidian stone, ring, or pendant in your cupped hands, seeing it as an empty object ready to absorb the sand’s energy. Bury the obsidian in the sand for three days. Keep the stone with you when working, taking it in hand when you feel a creative lapse.

9 Natural Lessons For Your New Year

  • Christy Diane Farr

What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

The earth is a most magnificent teacher, not just of how to best interact with her but also of how to make our own lives bloom. In the spirit of the new year, of this magnificent opportunity to cultivate the life you desire, I offer you these 9 Natural Lessons for the New Year.

Lesson 1: YOU are not a weed. (You may just be a wildflower planted in a rose garden.)

Call it whatever you wish but our source makes no accidents. Too many truly extraordinary human beings are walking around on this planet feeling like they don’t fit, like they are broken, or that they don’t belong. I don’t care if it was your parents, teachers, peers, spouse, church, or the images portrayed in the media that led you to believe that you are a weed but it is a lie… and you have to stop believing it.

You are perfectly imperfect, just like the rest of us. You may very well be unlike the others but that doesn’t mean you suck, it means you’re a Wild One. That means you’re one of us… and your life is a gift.

Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life. – Rachel Carson

Lesson 2: You find what you seek. Seek intentionally.

I know it seems simple but seriously, it matters. If you want a beautiful life, look for beautiful things and wallow in them. If you want love, look for opportunities to be loving (in a healthy way). If you want abundance, surround yourself with things (images, quotes, books, people, etc.) that teach and remind you how to feel abundant. If you talk to yourself all day about how there isn’t enough time, energy, money, help, or whatever else you need, then you will absolutely find proof of that everywhere you are. There are too many ways for us to cultivate a different way of showing up in the world for anyone to keep living with the same old crappy life.

Though I do not believe that a plant will spring up where no seed has been, I have great faith in a seed. Convince me that you have a seed there, and I am prepared to expect wonders. – Henry David Thoreau

Lesson 3: Your dreams are your plans. Live them.

We all want our lives to make sense. We want to feel like we’re making a difference. Still, I see people searching and searching for what they are supposed to be doing. What are you good at? Do that. What makes your heart sing? Do that. What was the thing you did that cultivated the most dramatic results for you and the people you were serving? Do that again. The answers are not “out there” somewhere. Your answers are within you. Look within. Ask questions and when your soul whispers… for the love of all things glittery, do what it says!

(And if you don’t know what that means, call me.)

Adopt the pace of nature; her secret is patience. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Lesson 4: This is a lifetime, your lifetime. Calm down and be the real you.

All of these resolutions, goals, dreams, and such are just different words for, “I want to be me.” If you’re trying to lose weight, you’re saying you want to return to your true body size. If you want a new job, you’re saying that you want work that’s true for you. If you want to stop doing something destructive to your body, you’re saying that you want to live in alignment with your integrity, no more coping mechanisms. You’re saying you want to be you, the real you, after a spell of months or years of living like someone else.

This is about returning to your true self. It’s a journey, just like the road you took away from you that got you here. Be patient. Let go of the hysteria. Drop the desperation. Just breathe, decide what needs to be done, and take action–small, consistent, steps back to the truth of who you are–as frequently as you can bear it.

The more steps you take, the faster you’ll get home.

Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished. – Lao Tzuis

Lesson 5: Take only the actions that are true for you.

Saying yes is a sacred act. Your resources–time, energy, money, attention, etc.–are all you have at your disposal. Think about how you’re using them. If there isn’t enough of you to go around, it’s time to reconsider. Think about why you say yes.

I ask not for a larger garden, but for finer seeds. – Russell Herman Conwell

Lesson 6: Live within your means.

You have this much space, this much energy, this much passion, and this much money… Are you wasting your life stretching and searching, when you could be cultivating true joy right here in your real world? We all want to live well, there’s nothing wrong with that. But, so many are missing out on true love at home while they are out trying to conquer the next level at work. So many are sacrificing their health to accomplish tasks that won’t actually bring them a better life. To thrive in the year ahead, consider if the actions you’ve been taking are going to cultivate the results you truly desire

If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly our whole life would change. – Buddha

Lesson 7: When life feels dark, remember the lotus flower.

During a particularly difficult time earlier this year, a friend said to me, “Lotus flower. Google it.” I did and you would be well served to do the same. When life is hard, meditate on this earthy lesson.

Gardening is a matter of your enthusiasm holding up until your back gets used to it. – Author Unknown

Lesson 8: Keep the promises you make to yourself… no matter what.

Once you decide what you want to be different, commit to reasonable daily action that will result in that transformation and then do it. No. Matter. What.

The new year is a tender time. Be still for a moment and enjoy the possibility.

Lesson 9: Make space for YOU in 2012.

If you’re like me, this door between one year and the next is a time full of reflection and anticipation. We make resolutions. We set goals. We dream. We intend to cultivate change in the gardens of our lives.

Then, we propel ourselves into the new year, into our big plans, and it works… at first. Then 12 months flies by (or crawls, depending on the year) and we’re back here again, reflecting on what was lost and gained, what came into our lives and what we released. We can’t help but notice how much changed in the past year, and how much didn’t change.

That’s right … we can’t help but notice what didn’t change–the book we didn’t write, music we didn’t make, weight we didn’t lose, trips we didn’t take, moves we didn’t make, debt we didn’t eliminate, relationships we didn’t nurture, habits we didn’t break (or adopt), leaps we didn’t take, and on and on and on.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

Your home is your garden, and if you want to grow something new in your life, you’ve got to do more than walk around with the seed in your pocket. It’s time to clear space in the garden of your life, to make room for that seed to grow and bloom.

It’s time to make space for your life to bloom.

This year, let’s do it differently. You and me. Let’s create the space necessary for your resolutions or goals or dreams or change to become your reality.

Daily Feng Shui Tip for December 27th

You know what they say — there’s no place like OM for the holidays! Ancient scriptures from Eastern cultures tell us that the ‘OM’ is the mother all languages and that repetition of the word enables us to maintain mental and emotional calmness, overcome all obstacles and facilitate deeper understanding of the circumstances and situations in our lives. OM is the primordial breath. Take a minute to give yourself a break and a boost by using the power of your OM breath. Lie down and keep one hand over your heart and one over your abdomen. The hand that is over the belly should have the thumb over the belly button and the other four fingers below. The fingers of both hands should be spread. Breathing in through the nose, take in a big bit of air and pull it into your belly so it puffs up like a balloon. As you slowly exhale back out through the nose, visualize your breath as a silver ball of light traveling from your belly, down and around and then back up your spine, over your head and out your nose again. Do this three times in succession to successfully oxygenate your blood while massaging and bringing a big boost of energy to all of your organs. Man, OM Man, you’ll feel a lot better after doing this empowering exercise!

Slipping Off the Bed: Get Out of Your Comfort Zone!

Slipping Off the Bed: Get Out of Your Comfort Zone!

Author: Sage Runepaw

I’m looking out my window and there’s no air conditioner in it, having been taken down as of half an hour ago. I admire the amount of light in my room again, and gaze out at the big tall maple across the street, the quiet setting, my butterscotch-gold car sitting next to the walkway and blending in with the golden oak leaves over the carpet of dry olive-green grass that’s sticking its scraggly self out, and enjoying the airy, autumnal energy. I’ve been practicing at attuning to the Four Winds, and I’ve been enjoying the energy that the not-Mabon-anymore, not-yet-Samhain time brings. I always like the “in between” spaces- they fascinate me. Anywho…

My across-the-street neighbor’s son comes out from the driveway and comes with a ball. He kicks the ball. It goes away, rolls up his incline driveway, and rolls back to him. This got me thinking, as I’m watching him pick it up, kick at it, go after it to retrieve it in the ubercute manner tiny toddlers do this in.

We kick things we want to ‘go somewhere’, but they come back, or we retrieve them. Do we ever really let them go? Do we keep them solely because they are “ours”? Do they bring anything back with them that wasn’t originally there… just adding on and ‘snowballing’ back at us? This is much like the way of the universe, isn’t it? – Seeing our intent go “out there”, sending it out, then later on, it comes back to us in the form of karma, be it good, bad, or whatever shade of grey in between. I’m not even going into spellcraft here- I’m sure that if you take a couple minutes to think about it, you’ll find a proverbial or metaphorical ‘ball’ in your life somewhere.

For all intents and purposes, I got up this morning, got breakfast and plopped my butt down back in bed to enjoy it and to journal down some things I’ve been discovering through my 303 studies and recent dreamwork. So I sit there, turn on my beloved new Zune (I’m not one for new technological toys unless my current, older ones which did the job broke- about 5 discmen and 2 boomboxes breaking and I’m ready!) , and start writing.

My vision suddenly becoming lower and lower to the aqua bedsheets should have warned me, but as I’d been snapped out of my own personal world- that of The Word Being Written As I Think It and the Mystery of Ink Capturing It in Time, coupled with the Beauty of Ink Manifesting on Paper- I felt my butt slide, though I wore long jeans and a t-shirt.

Now normally butt-sliding is usually designated for the loose toilet seat in the bathroom that Mom and I have been too lazy to fix (which usually results on saying hello to the cold ceramic floor or the cold porcelain, whichever comes first, and at the risk of giving TMI for the readers of this article) , but this time it was a fabric, soft, warmer butt-slide thing going on. And in the meantime I’m too stunned to react (as well as being a zombie because come on, I got up at 9:00 am on a week-day after a late night of work, and caffeine doesn’t work on me) – and so the next thing I see is me sitting on the floor staring at my heap of Stuff (capitalized due to the nature of the random objects in question never quite leaving the floor, getting relocated every time I clean) next to the bed.

So I’m sitting here a little longer than others might normally do, or the “Durrrrh?” moment, which consisted of many more long moments. And I’m staring, wondering why on earth I’m on the floor. And it occurs to me, again belatedly, that my perspective is not of the journal page I was writing in. My train of thought was entirely derailed (and rightly so) when I fell on my butt.

Then the proverbial lightning bolt struck- and it occurred to me that “This is not the perspective you’re used to”. Of course not, on a mundane level- it’s been years since I fell on my butt on the floor from the bed, even though I sit in the same exact spot on the floor when I’m drawing. On a spiritual level- and a synchronicity in my life, as I’d just been journaling about perspective itself and new realizations in my life- falling on my butt reminded me of three important things.

1) It reinforced that (this is my own personal truth talking) perspective can be everything, and all we have to do is quit the mental yammering inside our heads, or the “us” factor, or stopping our emotions and/or thoughts cold-turkey, open our eyes, and really -see-. Sometimes, detachment is better than letting something ride itself out to the end with a healthy outlet, or refusing point-blank to deal with something (remember that ball? it’ll come back with crap all over it for you to wipe off!) , or worse, twisting it- among many other things people can do.

2) It doesn’t matter if you’ve fallen off your proverbial comfort zone- you can always choose to get right back up. How long it takes you or the manner in which you get back up, however, is up to you. It’s also up to you whether or not you want to go back to the comfortable position you were in before- but whether or not you can actually attain that (and whether or not you’re actually comfortable if you do attain said comfy position) is up to the Gods of Comfortable Positions.

3) No matter how well you think you made that bed, you can and probably will fall out of it from the sheets suddenly gaining a mind of their own and ejecting you forcibly from them.

So what do we -do- with that proverbial ball? No matter which angle we view it from, we’ll still have a ball. It is what it is. Its purpose is open for interpretation, but it’s that interpretation that will affect how we interact with it. And like the sphere that it is, it’ll roll into our lives some way or other.

For me, it rolled into my life by my decision to break with a slow-morning tradition of getting back in bed and parking my butt on the desk chair to look out the window and admire the autumn weather. If I tried to go back to my comfort zone, I’d have missed out.

And no matter how I look at it, something that’s round and rolls in any direction is pretty freaking cool. 🙂

What’s the ball like in your life? How are you interacting with it?

Frosty the Snowman

by Steve Nelson, Jack Rollins

Frosty the Snowman was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of coal

Frosty the Snowman was a fairy tale, they say
He was made of snow, but the children know
How he came to life one day

There must have been some magic
In that old top hat they found
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around!

Frosty the Snowman was alive as he could be
And the children say he could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me

He led them down the streets of town
Right to the traffic cop
And he only paused a moment when
He heard her holler, “Stop!”

Frosty the Snowman had to hurry on his way
But he said goodbye, saying
“Don’t you cry, I’ll be back again some day!”

Winter Solstices Around The World – Amateras

Winter Comments & Graphics
Amateras celebration, Requiem of the Dead (7th century Japan)

In late 7th century Japan, festivities were held to celebrate the reemergence of Amateras, the sun goddess of Japanese mythology, from her seclusion in a cave. The other gods make a loud celebration in order to make Amaterasu come out of her cave. She peeks out, sees her image in a mirror, and the other gods convince her to stay out of the cave; thereby restoring sunlight to the world. Requiems for the dead were held and Manzai and Shishimai were performed throughout the night, awaiting the sunrise. Aspects of this tradition survive on New Years.

Winter

Like anything else, if one is prepared to meet winter rather than cower at the thought, it is an excellent
time to be happy and alive. When we are warm on the inside and we have no excessive fears, we can lean
into the wind and pace ourselves to breathe the cold air and taste the snow without absorbing it. We were
created to take domination over these things and it is time we proved it. But as long as there is one other
person who is not warm, who does not see beauty, we can’t be too comfortable not immune to winter.

How to Make Your Drekkahorn

How to Make Your Drekkahorn

by Gefjon

(This is a condensed version of a paper presented at a workshop at the Ostara gathering he/d just north of San Francisco, California.)

What Kind Of Horn

The use intended for a horn determines the “best” kind of horn. Will it serve 12 people at a Sumbel, or will it just be yours, and small enough to pack easily? Will it be carved or left plain? How much time, energy and money will be expended on the horn? Big horns can be cut down, but the diameter of the open (mouth) end and the horn’s configuration and curve cannot be changed. Odd shapes can bang your nose and precipitous curves often create a tidal wave effect when drinking. The more round the opening, the better. Horns usually come with a ragged mouth which will need to be cut down. When getting a horn, look for punctures, deep crevices and thick splinters – all of which are undesirable and may not be correctable.

Where To Find A Horn

Cattle ranches ~ ask them to keep your name for future reference if they have none at present. Remember, they may sell only the whole skull. Slaughter houses ~ there are often laws about keeping “parts” around, so call them first and ask them exactly when it would be best to come by. Retail skull, hide, and bone merchants ~ good if you can find one. Taxidermists ~ very good, but they are usually rather expensive sources. Tandy and other craft stores ~ okay but their horns are usually very thin. Junk stores. etc. ~ you might get lucky but you can never count on it. Note: mounted bull horns can be dismantled giving two horns.

Cleaning And Preparing

If you get an entire skull which is particularly fresh, bury it for about six weeks (longer in winter). Then, if the horns are still attached to the skull, soak the whole thing for four to six hours in a boiling solution of eight gallons of water and one gallon of bleach. Or submerge it in a vat of 40% hydrogen peroxide and 60% water for an hour or so. When the horns are off, use a bottle brush (or flexible rod with a rag firmly attached) and vigorously clean the inside of the horn with more bleach/water solution.

Soak it again for several hours, scrub it out a second time, and then rinse with a solution of four gallons of cool water and one-half a gallon of vinegar. After rinsing, the horn should smell clean. If not, repeat the boiling soak sequence and then fill the horn with baking soda. Once the horn is clean, but still damp, if it has a lot of scales and/or splinters, now is the time to take a vegetable peeler or a pocket knife and scrape – with the grain of the horn, and away from your body. Afterwards, invert the horn and allow it to air dry for 24 hours.

Curing (see also Sealing below)

If you do not plan to seal the interior mantle, curing the horn is the next step. Remember, the horn is made of keratin which is porous and will retain a degree of porosity forever. This means that there is always the possibility of a chemical or microbe being absorbed into the keratin matrix and perhaps being released later into another drought. possibly affecting taste and your gastrointestinal system. Due to the possibility of contamination or infection, I do not personally advocate the curing of a horn as a final interior finishing. Many people believe sealing it (see below) is safer.

The object of curing is to shrink the keratin matrix as much as possible to decrease its porosity. (1) Fill the horn with a salt water curing solution (three cups of salt per gallon of water) and allow it to stand for 24 hours. (2) Pour out and repeat. (3) The third evening, pour out and rinse well with cold fresh water and then air dry for 24 hours. (4) Then fill the horn with 100 proof vodka and allow it to stand for 24 hours. (5) Pour out and repeat. It will need to be completely re-cured at least twice a year. The only real advantage of curing (instead of sealing) is that you can leave the horn on the dashboard of your car in the summer time when it gets hot.

Sanding

Start with a medium grade of sandpaper (120) against the grain of the horn. Be patient, this takes time. Then sand with the horn grain. Repeat with a finer grade (360) until it is very smooth and free of imperfections. Remember – the more mantle you sand off, the less thickness is left to carve, and the more brittle the horn.

Cutting The Lip

Take a wide rubber band and encircle the horn mouth with it at a level at least one inch below any cracks. Position the rubber band until it represents a straight line. Trace the line with a pencil. Use a hack saw to carefully cut through the line. Then sand the opening to make it smooth.

Decoration

Plan designs for the size of the horn. Draw on paper first and then wrap the paper around the horn. Draw on the horn with a #2 (or softer) pencil. Decorations can be either carved into the outer surface of the horn or stained – or both. Some people carve with a knife. Others use a tool like an electric dremel. Do not use any tool until you are thoroughly familiar with it and can use it safely. Staining can be done with India ink (which comes in several colors) or acrylic paint. Acrylic will dry about 40% darker than its wet hue.

Finishing

After a final fine sanding, the horn can be finished with several coats of clear acrylic spray. Or it can be polished with jeweler’s rouge. Or a coat of beeswax can be applied and rubbed in by hand.

Sealing

Sealing a horn entails coating the interior mantle (the inside of the horn). Beeswax is traditional. and is related to mead. The only problem with it is that it will melt in warm conditions. (Do not put hot coffee in your horn or leave it in direct sunlight.) However, if the beeswax does melt, you can always reapply a new coat of it. Beeswax can be purchased at art supply and craft houses.

For a half liter horn, you will need about a quarter pound of beeswax. Melt the wax in a double boiler, stirring it thoroughly. Pour the wax into the horn and immediately start to rotate the horn so as to coat all of the inside surfaces. Pour excess wax back into the boiler. Wait about five minutes and then repeat. Do this three times, and then allow the horn to cool for one hour.

Metalwork

Silver, or other metal rims can add a rich look to a horn. A matching metal tip can also be added. Any good silversmith can do this for you if you are unable to do it yourself. However, this can be quite expensive. so get a cost estimate first.

Care And Cleaning

The inside of a horn should be thoroughly washed out with clean, cold water containing some liquid dishwashing detergent after every use. Then rinse with cold water to get rid of the soap.

A Charm For Recalling The Faithless

A Charm For Recalling The Faithless

At midnight light a new black candle in a locked chamber. Take the white wing feather of a dove or pigeon and dip it in some pungent scented oil, rue, wintergreen, or the like. Then let its tip burn in the candle flame, and say these words:

THY FLIGHT BE STAYED
THY WING BE BOUND
THIS CLOUD CASTS THEE
TO THE GROUND

Dip the feather again into the oil, then break it into small pieces and fold these up in a bit of silver paper. Bind this charm with black thread, and bury it in the ground near your doorstep. So shall it call the faithless one back, and when returned, drops of the same oil must be touched to the brow and the palms of that person, who then shall not leave again. Yet reveal not the reason for this anointment, lest its power be diminished.

How Could We Not Come Back?

How Could We Not Come Back?

Author: Cavalary

When it comes to answers to that nagging “Why are we here?” question, everyone has one. For some, it may be that we simply are: live this life to the fullest because it’s all you have. Others may think this is the only physical life we have, but that afterwards our souls will spend eternity in either Heaven or Hell. For yet others, we’re just souls having one of our many physical experiences, on a path to something greater. If for some reason it’s not already understood, I belong to the last group.

Since this article is about reincarnation, I will not discuss at length the first two ideas mentioned above. The first denies the existence of the soul, which works for the very scientifically-minded, but is unacceptable for people who have had experiences proving its existence. I’m not talking about something spectacular, but simply experiencing true feelings that won’t go away or intuition. The ideas put forth by the second group may work for them and are certainly a good deterrent for some people who would not hesitate to harm others out of their own free will, but they don’t make sense. Why would a Supreme Being keep creating souls, giving them one shot at physical life, then “filing” them away in one of two places according to some specific criteria (places that will also have to keep expanding to accommodate all these souls), then creating new ones and starting over… and over… and over? Also, harm is subjective. You can’t define what will harm and what won’t in general, yet “sins” seem to be defined like that. I’m not saying it’s impossible; we can’t know what’s there while we’re still here, but that it wouldn’t make sense.

Now back to the topic at hand. Bear with me, as this might be a bit odd. I had my ideas to write about but suddenly an analogy came to mind: souls as atoms in the “body” of The One. I decided to go along with it and I think I’ll even surprise myself a few times by the time I’ve finish writing this. But first, my thoughts on the matter of reincarnation and where does free will come in.

Everything starts somewhere, and souls are no different. Being nothing more than a clump of matter from a higher plane with a will of their own, they have to start their learning process somewhere. As you don’t give a child a shotgun and send him/her out on the street, souls are not allowed immediately to enter life forms that wield the most power in their world. On Earth, those would be humans. Therefore I believe that “new” souls would most likely be found in certain animals that have a degree of awareness, freedom of action and certain learning abilities. That may mean most mammals and maybe some birds, but since it seems natural that a soul may choose a life form that’s less advanced than it’s “allowance”, it doesn’t mean others can’t have souls. It may be that the most enlightened would choose a lifetime stuck in the oddest animal (or plant), just to experience it. This may also explain the children that die shortly after birth. Souls that wanted to experience physical life again, but a suitable body was not yet available, so they were given just a short glimpse of it, kind of in compensation. (I don’t believe a soul enters a body before birth–it would make no sense. At most it could enter it when the brain starts to develop, but certainly not at the moment of conception.)

The apparently popular concept of souls of recently deceased humans being reincarnated in things like cockroaches, as punishment for their past life, makes no sense. What would that soul be able to experience like that? Who would it be able to help? And, more importantly, what would it be able to learn, a cockroach’s brain being what it is? Isn’t the purpose of a soul’s physical experience to learn and help others along their own paths?

I read an idea somewhere, some years ago, that stuck. I modified it in time, as I learned new things, but it may yet be oversimplified, and I’m looking for ways to “fill the gaps” (the idea that struck me when I decided to write this would be one of them). It “feels” right though.

The theory was that there are ten levels a soul can attain and three planes of existence it can inhabit. Of course, the levels give a general idea about the soul’s knowledge and power and might be useful to know for us here, but I doubt they are really separated so clearly on the higher planes. At the first level, for the specific case of Earth, a soul is incarnated in something non-human. Besides not being generally able to wreak as much havoc with a mistake, the less complex brain of the creature they’re incarnated in makes for less interference caused by wrong decisions, actually allowing the body and soul to maintain a stronger bond. After it evolves past that, still on Earth, a soul will take a human body for the next three levels.

There are major differences between a soul that reached the second level of enlightenment and one that reached the fourth, a fact that should be obvious when learning about the people around us. People with second level souls might have a hard time with feelings, reject the notion of spirituality and so on. Third level souls have some knowledge and power to influence the brain, so the “symptoms” might be adhering to some form of organized religion but not putting much effort into finding your true spiritual path, recognizing feelings and intuition and acting upon them when suitable but not giving them the proper importance, etc. At fourth level, the person would come across as enlightened compared to the rest of the human race (either that or a complete lunatic, depending on who’s making the assessment; it is also possible they’ll really become one, if their brain is unable to handle all the “feedback” it’s getting from the higher planes). They know this physical world is not all there is, know everything is connected, give the proper importance to feelings, learn to recognize signs and act accordingly, put effort into finding their spiritual path, might be able to briefly access the higher planes and affect the physical one in ways that might seem strange to many, etc.

It is possible to advance more than one level in a lifetime, when a person finds a means of enlightenment that would have been hard to predict at the time of their birth, but a far more common occurrence would be souls that don’t advance at all, or even forget what they had previously learned. It is also important to realize that each of these types of behavior is the appropriate one for that person’s level and each has a role in this world. Pushing them along the path when they’re not yet ready helps no one. As a final note on this matter, the ones that really stand out, the true masters, are most likely souls that are at least at the fifth level, but chose to come back in order to help the rest of us.

Since, at these levels, a soul can only understand and manipulate the physical plane, it is pretty much powerless between death and reincarnation. Therefore, until the next suitable body becomes available, it will spend a certain amount of time (that need not have anything to do with the time that passes here on Earth, since they’re different planes of existence) practically in limbo. It is possible that during this time it will be shown glimpses of future lessons it should learn or of past ones that it failed to understand. Since it needs a body to do pretty much anything, it may get back to Earth and, at great expense, attempt communication, offer help or simply wreak havoc out of frustration.

A soul reaches the fifth level when it has learned pretty much all it can learn out of physical experiences. At this moment it is no longer required to get back into a physical body in order not to be completely powerless in limbo, but its powers to affect the astral plane are minimal at best. While it’s struggling to learn how that plane “works”, it may choose to come back to the physical one, either as a manifestation of itself or reincarnated, either because it wants to help others, because it wants to experience things again or simply because it wants to feel it can have some effect on its surroundings once more. As it advances further, it reaches what might just be what is referred to as the Summerlands. It gains the ability to bend its surroundings to its will on the astral plane. This ability might be limited at the sixth level, being able to create only small areas, initially little more than dreams that it can lose itself in, then more and more solid. However, a seventh level soul can create whole planets or even solar systems to live in if it wishes. Souls with the same views and desires might find themselves shaping the same world, brought together by their similar thoughts. Living on a world that you create exactly how you like, with only the ones that want the same things, isn’t that a nice image? But I guess it’s the only proper reward after such a long learning process. Just remember to check up on the “younger” ones from time to time after you get there.

If you’re content with that, you can just stay there at the seventh level, enjoy a life of your own choosing and hopefully lend a helping hand to the “younger” ones from time to time. But some souls will realize this is yet another learning experience, not just fun and games. Add that realization, some guidance from the ones that already achieved at least level eight and a lot of time and effort and you’ll end up with a soul that managed not just to gain some more knowledge, but actually change its condition, become something greater than it ever was and enter a higher plane. (Remember that a soul is native to the astral plane, never a physical entity, it simply lacks the knowledge to affect its surroundings there at first. Therefore this is the first major change of the soul’s very being.) This plane is the highest that may be accessed through these means, but it may not be the highest that exists.

A soul reaches level eight when it has completed its transformation. It will find itself in an entirely new world, with great powers to affect both of the lower planes. However, just as it was at level five, its ability to affect its own surroundings is minimal. Can be frustrating to go from so much to so little, can’t it? Maybe, but, by entering this higher plane, a soul will finally be in direct contact with what we call gods. They’re right there, communication is as easy as walking up to one and saying something (not literally, of course, as walking and speaking are activities done on the physical plane). Yes, not all of them might be there–remember what I said about a possible higher plane–but certainly all the ones the soul somehow communicated with so far will be. Such a soul will be cared for in order to feel comfortable, but it will also have jobs to do. It always did, but this is the first time they will be communicated directly and it will be aware of them at all times. These jobs might be to act as guides for seventh (and, rarely, sixth) level souls seeking to attain the same level, provide comfort and encouragement for fifth level souls, possibly create new souls and guide them in their choice of a world to be incarnated in and whatever else needs to be done. These souls will rarely venture all the way back to the physical plane and, considering all their duties and also their need to continue improving their abilities on their current plane, who can blame them?

However, when they do manifest themselves here, the results are awe-inspiring. Level nine souls might be what we call demigods. Their powers to affect the lower planes are great, but their ability to affect their surroundings is still somewhat limited. They provide level eight souls with what they need to stay content and also act as mentors. A tenth level soul can bend all three planes to its will, but knows better. It has the most power and the least duties. It is the most it can be (if a higher plane exists, it can’t reach it), so no more need to work to improve itself either (but it can still learn alternate means of getting to the same level). It watches the “younger” ones, laughs and cries with them, offers a helping hand, a gentle caress or a swift kick in the butt wherever appropriate. Such souls can, and often do, help us, but, for all their power, they’re not omnipresent. We have to call to get their attention, and we have to know how to call for our cries to get that far.

It is important to know that all souls on this third plane of existence can receive energy from the ones on the lower planes who worship them. They need a lot of it to perform their duties and might not be willing to spend any on you unless you send enough to them before asking for their help. We send raw energy, they receive it and use it as needed at the moment. Then, when we ask for their help, they send some of it back in a form that will answer our call. Some might help a few times even if all we do is ask, but even the most benevolent entity will eventually choose to ignore someone who only asks for help, never sending anything back. It seems only fair, doesn’t it?

Still on that topic, if you give an entity a name and worship it, eventually all that energy will accumulate somewhere and will get a will of its own. You probably won’t be able to do this alone in a lifetime, but get enough people and do it for long enough and you might just create even a tenth level soul! That’s a very risky thing to do, as it would have the power but not the required experience to use it properly. No one can predict what it will do…

I got beyond the topic of this article after I mentioned fifth level souls, but it wouldn’t have been nice to leave you hanging there. Now back to the point, “Why do we keep coming back to this insanity called Earth?” Maybe because it’s the only place we know. A new soul is allowed to choose a world for its first incarnation and we chose this one. After the death of our first body, we go back with some new knowledge. All of that knowledge is from this Earth; it would make little sense anywhere else! Choosing, at any point of our development, to live a life on another world would be very confusing. The experience gained here would conflict with the life we’d have there, past memories would make no sense and so on. A soul may reach level eight and not even know for sure there are other worlds, as it would only be surrounded by others from the same background. (Level ten souls might not be able to go further, but they have an infinity of new worlds to experience if they wish.)

Choice is there every step of the way. We choose to come back because we want to learn more, because we want to help others, because we want to experience new things (or old things that we liked), or, if we’re not yet at least fifth level, because we’re tired of being powerless in limbo. However, I don’t think we choose the body in which we are reincarnated; it is assigned to us from what’s available. Keep that in mind when you want to have a baby; see what life you can offer it and what genetic traits you have to pass on. It is a home for a soul that most likely needs it to continue on its path. If you realize the body you can create just won’t be good enough for that purpose, don’t do it! Time should make no difference for souls, they can wait. If they have to notice a certain amount of time to have passed between death and rebirth, they will notice exactly that much, regardless of whether here on Earth that time would be 20 seconds or 2000 years. There don’t have to be more and more bodies, but they have to be, for lack of a better term, of better quality.

Now about that idea that struck me when I decided to write this…

Just like atoms, souls can form or break apart, but destroying one takes an enormous amount of energy. It is, however, possible that “new” souls don’t simply appear, but are actually created by other souls, after they have reached a certain level of enlightenment and can “assemble” one from the “free” matter on their plane of existence. To continue the analogy, thinking that the Supreme Being, by whichever name you want to call it, would put effort into creating souls is like saying that we put together protons, neutrons and electrons to create the atoms that make up our bodies. However, unlike us with our atoms, I believe The One is aware of our existence and development.

Now, think of yourself as a cell, with your soul being an atom of a very special element somewhere inside that cell. Imagine that single atom somehow “powering” the cell, which would die without its energy. Since this element is unlike any of the others around it, chances of bonding are very slim naturally. But what if we think and live our lives in a certain way, in strong connection with our souls? It would be like the cell starts generating certain substances that this atom might bond with, while also functioning in a certain way to facilitate such a bonding. The newly formed molecule would “power” the cell even better and, upon the cell’s death, might just hold together until it enters the next one. There it would continue to improve itself while also helping the cell, then do the same for the next, and the one after that, and so on.

The brain stores information. A soul might remember that it loved, that it feared, that it was violently thrown out of its previous body, but anything more specific will have to be “given” in a way that it can “bond” with that bit of information. This might explain why we don’t remember our past lives: We didn’t know how to memorize them!

As a side note, think of relationships in these terms. Two (or, why not, more) cells bond, exchange information, useful substances and so on. If this bond is strong enough, the energy generated by these atoms (or molecules) will also be exchanged between the cells. If it’s similar, the cells will be able to stay together in harmony; all other incompatibilities can be resolved in time, assuming each cell responds properly to the energy pulses it receives. But if it isn’t, the bond will have to be severed or both cells will eventually be destroyed. Of course, there can’t be that many kinds of energy generated by these atoms, so you don’t have a single soul mate, but you should listen to your soul and it will tell you from the start if a “bond” can be sustained.

Since all our souls are part of the Supreme Being, improving ourselves, turning from single atoms to complex and useful molecules, improves the whole organism. We’re all connected. By making ourselves better we help everyone else. Of course, if we can guide others along their path it’s even better, but remember that they need to advance at their own pace. You can always help when you’re asked, or express your opinion and give advice even when you’re not, but you may (and must) interfere more than that only to prevent harm, to stop the ones that try to hold others back from their path.

If I didn’t express myself clearly enough, I’m sorry. It’s the first time I’m putting most of these ideas “on paper”. As for the soul as an atom theory, as I said, it struck me when I decided to write this article; plenty of work left to make it “fit in” with the rest.
