May 2015 Energy Forecast – Authenticity, Ancestral Clearing and Collective Stress

Hi everybody, and welcome to the Energy Forecast for May 2015.

Time is flying by and so are the energies. In last month’s forecast, I mentioned to you that April would feel wider than March. March was a bit of a crazy, intense month, and while April wasn’t without its intensity, there was certainly more of a feeling of spaciousness. Until that is, this past week or so; the last week of April

Sensitivity issues through May

Many of you will have felt sensitivity issues arising in the last week of April and that is expected to carry through at least the first half of March.

So whether that’s your own inner feelings of hypersensitivity; for example, being even more sensitive to the volume of someone’s voice, or the way someone walks into a room. Or more ‘outer experiences’ that are showing up in the outside world; so perhaps being upset at what someone is doing or saying, or upset at the job that you’re in. Sensitivity is the theme of not only our time, but particularly in this year of 2015, dealing with your sensitivity is the key to getting through planet Earth in this transitionary era.

So, a couple of things to remember when you find yourself in a space of heightened sensitivity.

Space is what’s usually needed, because your nervous system has amplified and so you need to let it calm down before anything. This is because the more you keep running at the same person or the same issue with a heightened nervous system, it’s just going to continue to amplify.

So, do take time alone.

Do ask yourself, have I been working and doing too much?

Do I need to sit still and ‘be’ a little more?

Ask yourself, am I getting support?

Support from yourself, support from others

The support which you can give yourself is nutrition, exercise, good people, your own connection.

Or do you need the support of others at this moment?

To reach out to some people in your life because you’re trying to struggle through it alone?

Not everybody that you reach out to is going to be able to be there for you, but if you’re willing to not take the first ‘no’ as rejection, and keep asking a few other people, you’ll get that support. Support from others is wonderful because our nervous systems do calm down when we live in a more tribal way. Nature is the other great ‘energy reset’ when you are overstimulated.

So, ask yourself;

How much tribe energy have I got in my life right now that’s supporting me and helping me feel good?

How much personal space am I getting?

If you’re in a city and you can’t get to nature, make sure you’re soothing yourself from that stimulation. Cities have very electrical energy fields compared to nature spaces and the countryside. So you really need to monitor the amount that you are letting yourself get ‘amped-up’ by the energy of a city.

I’m just about to move from Boulder, Colorado to San Francisco. For me personally San Francisco is absolutely the right place for me right now. So it’s not necessarily a case that city = bad/countryside = good. It’s just that there are different ways of monitoring your energy, and one of the issues that can happen for people who live in more isolated or countryside spaces is they can go through ‘people-isolation’, and sometimes that’s too much for the nervous system as well.

It’s all about balance, and what you personally need on any given day.

Finding your ‘balance-point’ within the demands of collective energy

So regularly ask yourself;

Where am I on my balance of what I need?

Have I got enough tribe in my life?

Have I got enough space in my life?

Because only we can monitor this and sometimes as a collective, we all get very giddy together. As one big group energy, we collectively get on that hamster wheel and pound it really hard, and the only person who can truly monitor your experience of it, is you.

The reason I say this is that many of you listening to this might be in the role of ‘helper’ to people in your life. You might be most people’s emergency phone call. The problem is that not many people in that group for whom you’re the emergency phone call, will be considering how many emergency phone calls you might have taken that week. Only you can monitor that. So the helpers and the healers among you, you’re probably a little overwhelmed right now with the requirements of people outside you, if you’re not maintaining your own inner needs.

Now, to go to a different place.

Again, what I’ve spoken about a lot in the last year or two is that many of you, even with some of these sensitivity challenges, will be feeling better than ever before in yourself and in your experience of life.

Releasing Ancient Issues

Life is a strange ride and it has as many challenges and downs as it can have ups, but so much of it is to do with our approach to it, and so if any of you are still in the drying throes of being angry about something in your life or feeling like a victim to something in your life, what will be working through you at this time is ancient history.

It will be your own history around that issue so, for example, you hate your job. How many times in your life have you hated your job and what is it about the job that you really hate? Is it really that building that you go to and that employer that you have, or what is it that makes you feel crushed in that job? And if you start to ask yourself those deeper questions, you might have a breakthrough moment where you go, Oh, I hate having to be nice to people all day. So, try not faking being nice all day!

There’s a real societal pressure that we have to be happy or we have to be nice and friendly, and it’s just not true. It’s time for you be who you are, more than ever before, because a lot of you will be running into trouble by trying to be more positive than you feel. Or trying to leave your dark side at home, or whatever difficulty you’re processing at home, because you don’t want to throw it at other people.

Being Authentic/Expressing where you are at

There’s a big difference between throwing it at someone else and being authentic with how you’re feeling.

So, I could walk into my office place and, someone says, ‘Hey Lee, how are you doing?’ to which I respond (acting out depressed and angry emotions) ‘Oh, I’m really miserable, I’m really fed up!’

Y’know, that’s me throwing it at them. The other way is, someone could say, ‘Hey Lee, how are you doing?’, and I could just go, ‘Y’know, it’s a bit weird for me at the moment, I’m going through some stuff, I’ve got this going on with my family…..’

There are two very different ways of using energy in my demonstrations, and being present in energy. But the second one I demonstrated, tells the person that I know where I’m at, and it’s me communicating who I am today in a peaceful way. But a clear way, and that’s very, very important for those of you who are helpers, healers, trying to keep the light and the strength going for others.

These are rocky times in many ways, and for all of us in these rocky times, we have to be authentic about the stuff we’re going through that’s really difficult, as much as the stuff that we’re going through that might be feeling good or liberating to us. So this month, invite yourself to more authentic communication.

People don’t need all the details

As I say that, I feel a whole bunch of you go, I don’t want to share all my personal details with everybody, and the point is you don’t.

There’s a big difference between me saying ‘Y’know, I’ve got some funny things going on in life and I’m struggling’ versus ‘Well, my mum’s got this illness…’ and giving a whole detailed list of things in my life.

You can always just give people a headline as to how you feel if you don’t want to go into the details.

But in giving them that headline, you help the less sensitive around you understand where you’re at a bit more. It doesn’t mean they’ll necessarily wrap you in a blanket and treat you exactly the way you might want them to, but it means you won’t feel so unseen or invisible or unhelped by the people that you perhaps are bringing your helper energy to.

And this will create balance for you in a new way.

So authenticity is a big theme for the sensitive among you at the moment; being authentic with how you feel, being authentic with your communication and inviting that in at a whole new level.

The ‘Opening’ among people

We’re opening more and more as a people. We’re opening our hearts, we’re opening our minds, we’re opening our communication; I wanted to say (communication) devices, which is hilarious ‘cos of course it’s (our voice), not a device. But sometimes communication is a device, in terms of how you navigate the world via the way you communicate with other people.

Now, this opening I speak of, happens in stages. And as much as any of us would love to have a breakthrough because of a book that we’ve read, or a really potent conversation we’ve just had, or a workshop we just went to, and immediately return to our life and apply that whole breakthrough the very next day, it doesn’t work like that.

We do a piece at a time, and with that said, there are several of you who are missing the point around some of the shadows you’ve gone through in the last few months. You feel like, I’m not growing, I’ve felt really crappy or dense so there’s surely something going wrong. No, this is just this time on Earth and it’s speed. It compresses everything and then lets it rise to the surface.

So if what’s compressed in you was ancestral issues around feeling like a victim or feeling angry at the world, angry at the planet, that’s going to get compressed in you and rise up.

So try and get conscious of it rather than just throwing it at all the people at your workplace like I demonstrated earlier, because that just recycles the energy and makes you feel worse.

Try and get in touch with yourself, perhaps, ‘Ah, OK, today I feel angry and that’s OK. I don’t need to add a story to that, I don’t need to judge that, I don’t need to think therefore I’m regressing on my growth path…’

If you’re alive, you’re growing! Even people who seem unconscious to you are growing, because the experiences they need to learn through will keep coming at them in a different way until they become more conscious.

Going against/inviting non-historical patterns

So try and be peaceful with yourself as much as you can. That is not the historical society-inbuilt way of being, granted, but it is the way that will support your opening at this time to the best of your ability.

Because if you keep running out into the madness and trying to keep up with the madness, you’ll not only get exhausted on the hamster wheel, but you’ll catch your foot in one of the grates and go head first into the hamster wheel. So look at how chaotic things feel for you and if they do feel chaotic, keep stepping back and taking breathing space.

Some of you will be in tricky circumstances you can’t step back from – you may have family members who are ill, you may have real financial or work difficulties right now. So then you need to minimise everything else in your life and you recognize, I can only be around supportive people for a while, I just need to take care of me in the middle of taking care of everyone else and minimize all other stresses.

The new energy that exists above the ‘stress-line’The stress point in the collective is rising, so what you have to do is get really good at noticing and managing your own stress levels.

There is so much potential at the moment for ‘New’, and if you can keep managing everything that I have said here, in this video, then you’ll find that opening to the new – new connections, new relationships, new experiences, new moments of just Aaah, I’m alive, look at this amazing planet’ – then you’re going to find it all a lot easier to flow with it rather than bang your head on a wall with the intensity.

So, this is the final video I’ll be recording here in Boulder before I leave for San Francisco next month. It’s been almost three years I’ve lived here and been making videos for you guys out here on the hill.

So I just want to honour this place and thank it for not only being a support to me in my life the last few years, but more importantly, for these videos, we’ve all been here on this energy, on this land, having these messages monthly, so thank you Boulder for everything.

I also want to say thank you to those of you who financially donate for the forecasts – it really helps make everything possible here so thank you. To those of you who don’t donate financially but do send in lovely messages or comments, thank you for those too – they mean the world.

And finally I’m going to be doing a new Energy Mastery Retreat in Norway in August. This will be the final Energy Mastery Retreat in Europe of 2015. We just did the Colorado one and it was a total blast. We’re two-thirds sold out at the moment, but if you’d like to check it out and get more info, you can click for that here.

So, Big Love everyone.

Take care and see you in June.

A Little Humor for Your Day – Irish Joke

Irish Joke

John O’Reilly hoisted his beer and said, “Here’s to spending the rest of me life, between the legs of me wife!” That won him the top prize at the pub for the best toast of the night!

He went home and told his wife, Mary, “I won the prize for the best toast of the night.”

She said, “Aye, did ye now. And what was your toast?”

John said, “Here’s to spending the rest of me life, sitting in church beside me wife.”

“Oh, that is very nice indeed, John!” Mary said.

The next day, Mary ran into one of John’s drinking buddies on the street corner. The man chuckled leeringly and said, “John won the prize the other night at the pub with a toast about you, Mary.”

She said, “Aye, he told me, and I was a bit surprised myself. You know, he’s only been there twice in the last four years. Once he fell asleep, and the other time I had to pull him by the ears to make him come.”

Daily OM for August 30 – The Effect of Not Doing

The Effect of Not Doing

When We Don’t Take Action

by Madisyn Taylor

Our actions shape our lives, but what we don’t take action on can be just as powerful.

Life is sculpted on a moment-to-moment basis. Every one of the thoughts we think, the words we speak, and the actions we take contributes to the complex quality and character of the universe’s unfolding. It simply is not possible to be alive without making an impact on the world that surrounds us. Every action taken affects the whole as greatly as every action not taken. And when it comes to making the world a better place, what we choose not to do can be just as important as what we choose to do.

For example, when we neglect to recycle, speak up, vote, or help somebody in immediate need, we are denying ourselves the opportunity to be an agent for positive change. Instead, we are enabling a particular course to continue unchallenged, picking up speed even as it goes along. By holding the belief that our actions don’t make much of a difference, we may find that we often tend to forego opportunities for involvement. Alternatively, if we see ourselves as important participants in an ever-evolving world, we may feel more inspired to contribute our unique perspective and gifts to a situation.

It is wise to be somewhat selective about how and where we are using our energy in order to keep ourselves from becoming scattered. Not every cause or action is appropriate for every person. When a situation catches our attention, however, and speaks to our heart, it is important that we honor our impulse to help and take the action that feels right for us. It may be offering a kind word to a friend, giving resources to people in need, or just taking responsibility for our own behavior. By doing what we can, when we can, we add positive energy to our world. And sometimes, it may be our one contribution that makes all the difference.

Elemental Banishing

Elemental Banishing

Elemental banishing is a little more complex way to clean an area of the negative influences that reside there. It should only be done within a cast circle. This is an ideal way to prepare a new living space before you move in. It will take away any remnants of the old tenants that were there before you and let you move into a fresh, new space.

Cast a circle as you normally would. Before you call the elements to attend, take your athame to the west side of the circle and face outwards. Draw a banishing pentagram (point downward towards the earth) and then re-center the athame into the middle of it. Push the athame slowly outward while pushing outward with your own energy, ordering, “Go, or be cast into the depths of the flood!”

Move to the south and repeat your actions, saying, “Go, or be cast into the flames!”

Move to the east and pause to gather yourself and close the circle before drawing the final pentagram and saying, “Go, or be rent by the grinding earthquakes!”

Move to the north and repeat your actions, saying, “Go, or be torn apart by the whirlwind!”

Turn back into the center and yell, “I (we) banish you! I banish you! I banish you! BEGONE!” while clapping and clattering and making a great deal of noise.

At this point, you can proceed with the rest of the ritual that has been planned, starting with invoking the elements to bless the circle

It’s A Blessed Monday, My Friends! Welcome & Merry Meet!

Celtic Comments & Graphics

Good Monday morning, dear friends! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. All rested up and ready to get back to the old grindstone, lol! I shouldn’t say that some of us are very fortunate to have the job we love. Which I will admit, they are a lucky Witch, for sure. I had a job working at our family’s business as office manager. It started out perfect. Then it just when to poop! Double poop! Yeah, that bad! It got to the point were I was suppose to work for free. HA! There is only one thing I do for free and I don’t see “The WOTC” stamped on your forehead, lmao! Going to pay everyone else except me because I was family. No way, my time is worth money. So I packed my stuff up and came home. And been here ever since.

Enough about that! I know you were hanging on every word, lmao! But you know to much of a good thing will spoil you! I was thinking over the weekend about all the tragedies in the world these days.  Now would be a good time to leave you with an old Gaelic blessing for awhile. I hope you don’t mind. I love them (of course, I am Irish, lol!). I hope you enjoy them as I do.

Have a super terrific day, my dear, precious friends!

Whenever there is happiness

Hope you’ll be there too,

Wherever there are friendly smiles

Hope they’ll smile on you,

Whenever there is sunshine,

Hope it shine especially

For you to make each day for you

As bright as it can be.

Good Lazy, Hazy Sunday Morning To All My Wonderful Friends!

Days of the Week Comments=

Good Sunday morning all! I must apologize for running late. I have been working on the blog. I am trying to get everything caught up and added the way it is suppose to be. I am going to get some information on the two blank page on the main screen today (one way or the other, lol!). Even if I have to hog tie a little bobcat! Razzy has been up playing like a wild kid. I am hoping I have wore her out and she will sleep for a couple of hours. She tickles me. The first thing she does in the morning is take her big paws and wrap them around my leg. This way she had ahold of me and I am not going anywhere. It is her way of telling me, “time to play, momma!” And she doesn’t play for a few minutes then quit. No, no, she plays for hours. Right now, we are down to about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I am hoping as she gets older, she will want to nap more. I hope!

Well how did you like yesterday’s blessing? Like I said it is one of my favorite ones. It is a little bit dirty but at least you can tell who doesn’t like you, lol! Here is another blessing I would like to leave you with today…..

May you have the hindsight to know where you’ve been,

The foresight to know where you are going,

And the insight to know when you have gone too far”

Have a very blessed and relaxing Sunday, my friends!

Going Solar: Answers to Common Questions

Going Solar: Answers to Common Questions

By Erica Sofrina,  Author of Small  Changes, Dynamic Results! Feng Shui for the Western World

Solar energy has been around for decades, but in the past few years it has  finally started to take off in residential markets. Previously it was considered  too expensive, but times have changed. The rising electricity costs,  improvements in panel technology, mass production of them as well as federal and  local governmental incentives have driven costs down.

Given all these current factors, going solar now is a much more affordable  investment which can lead you to free energy, increased property value & a  chance to do your part in going green.

As a part of my green home series, I interviewed my friend David Javate of SolarUniverse and asked him if he would  demystify solar and answer some common questions and misunderstandings:

Erica: Could you explain in simple terms exactly how solar energy  works?

David: Solar panels consist of “cells” of chemically treated silicon. These  silicon cells, when hit with light, induce a chemical reaction which produces DC  current. An inverter converts DC current into AC current which can then be  used by your household. Any unused electricity gets fed back to the grid, which  in turn spins your energy meter backwards.

E: Is solar reliable?

D: Absolutely. Solar energy has been around for over 50 years, and is a safe  and reliable source of energy. Panels are normally warrantied for a 25 year  lifespan, but usually last longer. There’s a reason that NASA chose solar  panels to power their satellites. You may also notice them on street signs and  some public buildings.

E: What are the environmental benefits of solar energy?

D: Traditionally, electricity is generated through the use of fossil fuels  such as coal and natural gas. Use of these fossil fuels produces carbon  emissions which cause pollution and global warming. The main environmental  benefit of solar energy is that using solar does not produce any carbon  emissions. Throughout the lifespan of a photovoltaic solar system for a 3  bedroom house, one could potentially reduce the carbon emissions equivalent to  140,000 tons of carbon, 227,00 miles not driven, or 2,500 acres of trees  saved.

E: Is solar a good investment for the basic homeowner?

D: It depends on the household and your usage. Physical issues first need to  be considered: Your roof should be south or southwest facing, should have  minimal shading obstructions and should also have enough space to hold the  appropriate number of panels to cover your energy goals.

In California where we are based, we usually recommend it as an energy  solution if your electric bill tends to be over $130/month if you are  considering a leasing option; however, if buying is an option, homeowners with  bills of $50-75/month can reap the benefits.

Currently, there are a number of incentives available, such as a 30 percent  federal tax credit, rebates through your utility company, and local incentives,  such as the GoSolarSF initiative which provides a $2,000 grant towards  installation for homes in San Francisco. If you choose to buy your system,  typical systems can have a payback period of 5-7 years. After you’ve paid it off  you’ll be able to reap the benefits of free & clean energy for the next  20 years!

E: What if someone doesn’t have the money now? Are there financing  alternatives?

D: The most attractive financing alternative is leasing. These come in  different forms, with or without a down payment, with or without a fixed  interest rate, and in a prepaid form, where a bulk amount of the lease  payments are made in advance at a discount. Depending on the lease you secure,  you should be able to take advantage of a substantially lower electric bill, at  a monthly predictable rate, without the upfront cost of buying.

E: If someone is interested in looking into a solar alternative, what  should they do next?

D: Do some research:

  • Look at your electric bill. Has it become a rising and annoying cost for  you? Is it causing you to limit your enjoyment in some activities?
  • Research solar companies in your area. Check them out on review websites  like Yelp & Angie’s list.
  • See what solar incentives are available to you through your utility  company, your city and county.
  • Consider buying versus leasing.  Buying can be a great investment  which pays for itself in a few years. Leasing can reduce your electric bill,  while also giving a predictable fixed rate for energy.

Solar energy can be a great energy solution which can zero out your electric  bill, add value to your property, and help reduce carbon emissions which harm  the environment. Not all homes are ideally suited to take full advantage of  solar, but with the info given in this article you should have a good starting  point to figure out if going solar is a wise choice for you.

Your Daily Chinese Zodiac Horoscopes for May 16th

If you and your significant other have needed to talk, this is the day you can make some major breakthroughs. All of a sudden the clam breaks open and no-one seems able to shut either of you up! Stop long enough to listen to each other, it will count.

Your workplace is about to change due to changing needs in your family or at home. You will have an opportunity to improve your personal and financial security in the long run, though it may mean some risks, short-term changes, or sacrifices right now.

No matter what ails you, a little bit of brisk fresh air and exercise will help clear your head. Avoid high-impact and extreme sports, though. This will be one of those days if you have a parent who is urging you to add a new branch to the family tree.

Trust your intuition. You will have a insight into a relative’s behavior and attitudes, and that will help you connect with them in a more healthy and positive way going forward. Listen carefully, because you will learn something important.

You may have interesting and unusual telephone calls and emails today. Someone could send you a hot invitation to a big party where there could be romantic opportunities, especially if you are single. If you are married, bring your significant other along, they need a break!

Get ready for financial breakthroughs. If you have been looking for work, sharpen your pencil, dust off that resume, put on your best duds and hit the pavement. Today could be your lucky day. If you are employed look for a bonus, promotion or raise in the near future.

Today is all about you, and you will be alternatively patting yourself on the back, then beating yourself up. Both extremes are not good for your self-esteem. Just remember that you are a human being, regardless of whether you are winning or losing the game from one moment to the next.

Your personal growth has reached a flat spot and you feel you need to find a leader or teacher. But are you sure that is really what you need? Maybe what you really need is to accept where you are at, and believe in who you are and what you know.

A friend or companion has decided that your unsolicited advice or feedback has merit after all, and they will be expressing their appreciation together with some sheepish apologies most likely. Do your best to be gracious and understanding, it’s not easy to admit you’re wrong.

Three solid days of positive energy have you full to nearly bursting with good will for your fellow man. You may find yourself invited to a number of social occasions, parties, or gatherings that feature large numbers of people and great opportunity for making new friends.

You may have an unusual opportunity to travel with or study with your significant other. Today is all about shared interests. If you want to stir your partner’s passions, bring home a good book or some tickets to that special seminar they wanted to attend.

You will be thinking about redecorating, or tearing down part of your home to make way for some big changes today. You need to think big, but your loved ones could be threatened by any changes that you make, especially if you don’t include them in the planning stages.

Solitary Witchcraft

Solitary Witchcraft

by Raelayna Alvarez

I became a solitary witch at first because there wasn’t an outspoken pagan community in my area. Although I live in California south of San Francisco, the community that surrounds my home isn’t as open-minded as its northern counterparts. It was hard to find support, let alone a coven. When I began to practice and learn about being a witch, I was alone and hidden. I am no longer hidden, but I have grown accustomed to practicing alone, doing what I feel are the right things to do. I imagine a coven is a wonderful gathering of witches, but for someone who is used to being solitary and not really comfortable with being in a large group, I find my way most beneficial for me.

Being a solitary witch in my opinion is cozy. I feel closer to my Goddess and God because I can say what I sense and not rely on my group to agree or disagree. What I do comes from my heart and my traditions; it isn’t always a set thing. I don’t have to worry about telling anyone in advance that I changed the words or actions a bit; I just do it. Another reason I feel more at home with solitary witchcraft is the fact that I know when I am ready, when my mind is set to do magick and when I am comfortable to do it. I can take my time and release energy when I feel it is necessary. I do not have to work within the perimeters of another person, or a whole group.

Although I enjoy being a solitary witch, I tend to lack in certain areas that a coven might excel in, such as gathering energy. Sometimes I find it hard to muster up the right kind of energy for my task, or for casting a circle. Certain types of magick, too, tend to be more productive with more then one person (for example, sex magick). I can say that magick can be seen on a different level when others are involved. A spirit person might communicate better with someone of the opposite sex, or an additional person might bring a different interpretation that may change the way you do things. Others may be more open to the effects of energies and can bring insight that wasn’t possible with just you alone.

In my practices as a solitary witch, I come to my Goddess and God with humility, yet with love and familiarity, much like that of a close friend or relative. I recognize every day that my Goddess and God have given me things that no one else, no matter how important, could give me. I look into my heart and mind for the knowledge they bless me with that I might otherwise not see. I can work skyclad or with clothes. I can make my work as long or as short as needed. I can choose the time and place, then change it depending on how things work out.

Many people say that one cannot be a proper witch without being initiated into or being part of a coven. In my case, that simply is not true. I love the way things have worked out for me, and I question whether it would be this good had I joined a coven. I find happiness in the fact that I worship my Goddess and God every day. The way I choose is the best way for me and who I am. A coven might well make me feel uneasy and out of touch. I’m afraid I would feel left out. Solitary witchcraft may not be the best for everyone, but I find it perfect for me.

March 10 – Daily Feast

March 10 – Daily Feast

The more stress we have the less we like other people – and ourselves. A little pressure is sufficient. Stress can be productive if it is something we like doing. But when we can no longer ka no gi a, enjoy and sing about life, we need to reevaluate the direction we are going. It is impossible to withdraw from every problem, but neither can we go on without some relief. Being responsible is a natural part of life – very necessary to living well and being contented. To find a happy medium is to center ourselves where peace and answers can be found. It does not come from the noise and complaints of the world – but from that secret place of harmony and strength within the heart. It is a place that must be added to and kept harmonious, for it gives us poise and renewal when we need it.

I wanted to leave you with something to think about

Good Afternoon Pictures, Images, Comments, Graphics

Before I run off into the unknown Abyss, I wanted to leave you with something to think about. I received a phone call this after from a legitimate company wanting to do a commercial on The WOTC. The reason I know they are legitimate, they called the house yesterday. I didn’t have time to get to the phone, so I looked them up on the net to see who they where. Anyway right now, I am blown away to say the least!

The lady that called gave me a few details, just a few because Kiki won’t quit barking. She is supposed to call back tomorrow and show me what this company has to offer. She did say the video commercial would be played on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. That is what they mostly do is commercial for YouTube. I told her that the WOTC wasn’t a business. She in turn said she believed there was a market out there for what we have to offer. She also gave me a price for the video, which right now doesn’t sound that bad, $99.00. I will have to wait to see what we get for our money.

Anyway, to me this is fantastic. We start our Ribbon Campaign to get our message out and this happens. You know this seems like one of those blessings in disguise. I know it is my mission to see that the truth about Witchcraft and the Goddess is finally revealed. I don’t know if there are any that share this same committment or not. But I certainly hope so. To pull this off and get more circulation and our word out there, this is the way to go. It would absolutely be fantastic. I still can’t believe it someone wants to make a commercial about the WOTC <grinning from ear to ear>. But to make this happen, we would need some donations. You have no idea how bad I hate to ask you for a donation. But to fulfill the dreams we have for the upcoming year, I have too.

Right now, nothing is set in stone. I just want you to think about this. And if at all possible and I think this would be in our best interest, possibly make a donation. I know people think of huge amounts when it comes to donations. But that is not true, every penny counts. So I might be pulling out my couch’s cushions, lol! But please, seriously think about this.

I will keep you up-dated on what is going on.

Till then….

Luv & Hugs,

Lady A

How to Make Your Drekkahorn

How to Make Your Drekkahorn

(This is a condensed version of a paper presented at a workshop at the Ostara gathering he/d just north of San Francisco, California.)

What Kind Of Horn

The use intended for a horn determines the “best” kind of horn. Will it serve 12 people at a Sumbel, or will it just be yours, and small enough to pack easily? Will it be carved or left plain? How much time, energy and money will be expended on the horn? Big horns can be cut down, but the diameter of the open (mouth) end and the horn’s configuration and curve cannot be changed. Odd shapes can bang your nose and precipitous curves often create a tidal wave effect when drinking. The more round the opening, the better. Horns usually come with a ragged mouth which will need to be cut down. When getting a horn, look for punctures, deep crevices and thick splinters – all of which are undesirable and may not be correctable.

Where To Find A Horn

Cattle ranches ~ ask them to keep your name for future reference if they have none at present. Remember, they may sell only the whole skull. Slaughter houses ~ there are often laws about keeping “parts” around, so call them first and ask them exactly when it would be best to come by. Retail skull, hide, and bone merchants ~ good if you can find one. Taxidermists ~ very good, but they are usually rather expensive sources. Tandy and other craft stores ~ okay but their horns are usually very thin. Junk stores. etc. ~ you might get lucky but you can never count on it. Note: mounted bull horns can be dismantled giving two horns.

Cleaning And Preparing

If you get an entire skull which is particularly fresh, bury it for about six weeks (longer in winter). Then, if the horns are still attached to the skull, soak the whole thing for four to six hours in a boiling solution of eight gallons of water and one gallon of bleach. Or submerge it in a vat of 40% hydrogen peroxide and 60% water for an hour or so. When the horns are off, use a bottle brush (or flexible rod with a rag firmly attached) and vigorously clean the inside of the horn with more bleach/water solution.

Soak it again for several hours, scrub it out a second time, and then rinse with a solution of four gallons of cool water and one-half a gallon of vinegar. After rinsing, the horn should smell clean. If not, repeat the boiling soak sequence and then fill the horn with baking soda. Once the horn is clean, but still damp, if it has a lot of scales and/or splinters, now is the time to take a vegetable peeler or a pocket knife and scrape – with the grain of the horn, and away from your body. Afterwards, invert the horn and allow it to air dry for 24 hours.

Curing (see also Sealing below)

If you do not plan to seal the interior mantle, curing the horn is the next step. Remember, the horn is made of keratin which is porous and will retain a degree of porosity forever. This means that there is always the possibility of a chemical or microbe being absorbed into the keratin matrix and perhaps being released later into another drought. possibly affecting taste and your gastrointestinal system. Due to the possibility of contamination or infection, I do not personally advocate the curing of a horn as a final interior finishing. Many people believe sealing it (see below) is safer.

The object of curing is to shrink the keratin matrix as much as possible to decrease its porosity. (1) Fill the horn with a salt water curing solution (three cups of salt per gallon of water) and allow it to stand for 24 hours. (2) Pour out and repeat. (3) The third evening, pour out and rinse well with cold fresh water and then air dry for 24 hours. (4) Then fill the horn with 100 proof vodka and allow it to stand for 24 hours. (5) Pour out and repeat. It will need to be completely re-cured at least twice a year. The only real advantage of curing (instead of sealing) is that you can leave the horn on the dashboard of your car in the summer time when it gets hot.

Start with a medium grade of sandpaper (120) against the grain of the horn. Be patient, this takes time. Then sand with the horn grain. Repeat with a finer grade (360) until it is very smooth and free of imperfections. Remember – the more mantle you sand off, the less thickness is left to carve, and the more brittle the horn.

Cutting The Lip

Take a wide rubber band and encircle the horn mouth with it at a level at least one inch below any cracks. Position the rubber band until it represents a straight line. Trace the line with a pencil. Use a hack saw to carefully cut through the line. Then sand the opening to make it smooth.

Plan designs for the size of the horn. Draw on paper first and then wrap the paper around the horn. Draw on the horn with a #2 (or softer) pencil. Decorations can be either carved into the outer surface of the horn or stained – or both. Some people carve with a knife. Others use a tool like an electric dremel. Do not use any tool until you are thoroughly familiar with it and can use it safely. Staining can be done with India ink (which comes in several colors) or acrylic paint. Acrylic will dry about 40% darker than its wet hue.

After a final fine sanding, the horn can be finished with several coats of clear acrylic spray. Or it can be polished with jeweler’s rouge. Or a coat of beeswax can be applied and rubbed in by hand.

Sealing a horn entails coating the interior mantle (the inside of the horn). Beeswax is traditional. and is related to mead. The only problem with it is that it will melt in warm conditions. (Do not put hot coffee in your horn or leave it in direct sunlight.) However, if the beeswax does melt, you can always reapply a new coat of it. Beeswax can be purchased at art supply and craft houses.

For a half liter horn, you will need about a quarter pound of beeswax. Melt the wax in a double boiler, stirring it thoroughly. Pour the wax into the horn and immediately start to rotate the horn so as to coat all of the inside surfaces. Pour excess wax back into the boiler. Wait about five minutes and then repeat. Do this three times, and then allow the horn to cool for one hour.

Silver, or other metal rims can add a rich look to a horn. A matching metal tip can also be added. Any good silversmith can do this for you if you are unable to do it yourself. However, this can be quite expensive. so get a cost estimate first.

Care And Cleaning

The inside of a horn should be thoroughly washed out with clean, cold water containing some liquid dishwashing detergent after every use. Then rinse with cold water to get rid of the soap.
