Moon Phase

The current moon phase for July 9th, 2024 is the Waxing Crescent phase.

On this day, the moon is 3.52 days old and 11.92% illuminated with a tilt of 149.654°. The approximate distance from Earth to the moon is 399,755.30 km and the moon sign is Leo.

The Moon phase for July 9th, 2024 is a Waxing Crescent phase. This is the phase where the moon started to become visible again after the New Moon.

In this part of the moon cycle, the Moon is moving away from the Sun and is becoming more and more illuminated by sunlight. In this phase, the moon will go from 0.1% to 49.9% illuminated before reaching the First Quarter phase.

In the Waxing Crescent phase the moon rises before noon in the east, transits the meridian before sunset, before setting in the west before midnight.

The Waxing Crescent phase, like all moon phases, will last for just over 7 days. The actual length will vary because of the elliptical shaped orbit of the moon. The moon is close to the Sun in the sky and the right edge will become brighter as it approaches 50% illumination and the First Quarter phase

Fun fact: although only a small part of the Moon is illuminated in the Waxing Crescent phase, you can still sometimes see the rest of moon as faintly visible. This is known as “earthshine” or Da Vinci glow and is a result of sunlight being reflected off the Earth and back to the Moon.

Cave Finds Reveal Ritual Practiced for Record-Breaking 500 Generations – Newsweek

Archaeologists have uncovered evidence of an Indigenous ritual in Australia that appears to have been practiced continuously for 500 generations—from as far back as 12,000 years ago to the 19th century—a study has revealed.

Remarkable findings from a cave located in the southeast of the country represent what is likely the “oldest archaeological evidence” for a ritual that has also been documented by modern ethnographers, study author Bruno David of Monash University in Australia, told Newsweek. (Ethnography—a branch of anthropology that involves the study of cultures—did not truly emerge as a scientific discipline until the 18th-19th centuries.)

“Nowhere else on Earth has archaeological evidence of a very specific cultural practice previously been tracked so far back in time,” David said in a press release.

The latest discoveries, documented in a study published in the journal Nature Human Behaviour, shed light on the rich cultural heritage of the GunaiKurnai—an Aboriginal Australian nation that is one of the world’s oldest living cultures.

At the invitation of GunaiKurnai Aboriginal Elders, David and colleagues undertook archaeological excavations at Cloggs Cave, located in Click here to read the rest of this article

Northern Hemisphere

June 20, 2024

The current moon phase for today is the Waxing Gibbous phase.

On this day, the moon is 13.33 days old and 94.35% illuminated with a tilt of 130.633°. The approximate distance from Earth to the moon is 389,913.44 km and the moon sign is Sagittarius.

The Moon phase for today is a Waxing Gibbous phase. This is the phase where the moon is more than 50% illuminated but has not yet reached 100% illumination (which would be a Full Moon).

The Waxing Gibbous phase, like all moon phases, will last for just over 7 days. The actual length will vary because of the elliptical shaped orbit of the moon. During this Waxing Gibbous phase the moon will rise in the east in the mid- to late-afternoon and will be high in the eastern sky at sunset.

Assuming it’s a clear night, the Waxing Gibbous moon will then be visible through most of the night before setting just before sunrise.

Fun fact: the word Gibbous was first used in the 14th century and comes from the latin word gibbosus which means humpbacked.

Merry meet dear Sisters, Brothers, and Honored Guests, Welcome to WOTC! A Thought for Today

“Good morning Tuesday! My promise to myself today is to not stress out about the little things.” – Elise Bouchard

I apologize for being absent for a few days I have not been doing well physically or emotionally. I am starting to come out of the depression I fell into because of two major falls in a week and could barely get around the house. Anyway, I am healing, and I thank all of you who even unknowingly helped me to get back to work on a limited basis today. Please bear with me if I cannot do all the regular daily posts until next week. I will be catching up the birthday horoscopes today. I will also post somethings for the northern hemisphere Litha/Summer Solstice and for the southern hemisphere Yule/Winter Solstice.

If you want to see some information on any tradition of witchcraft, please put it in the comment section. I will try to find some information to post about it.

May your and your family’s lives be filled with all things positive!

Blessed be.

A Laugh for Today

For anyone who might not know who this pink animal is. He’s known as the Pink Panther and was very popular in the 1970’s and 80’s.

I hope the rest of your day and evening is relaxing, filled with fun and love.

Merry part until we merry meet again!

Merry meet dear Sisters, Brothers, and Honored Guests, Welcome to WOTC! A Thought for Today

I am healing slowly but at least I can use the fingers on my left hand to type a little bit now. I am not ready to do tomorrow posts yet. I will return to doing the tomorrow posts as soon as I feel comfortable doing so. Found out after going to Urgent Care that I managed to hurt my next fairly bad also. Which explains why I cannot sit at my computer or anywhere else for that matter without quite a bit of pain and a pounding headache. As my dearest friend, Lady Rhiannon, keeps telling me for over 20 years I have to slow down and be more aware of what is a round me before I start walking.

If you want to see some information on any tradition of witchcraft, please put it in the comment section. I will try to find some information to post about it.

Merry part until we merry meet again!

Merry meet dear Sisters, Brothers, and Honored Guests, Welcome to WOTC!

I am typing one handed for the next few days because I tripped over our 100-pound male, Merlin, yesterday and flew through the air a little which was fun, but the landing wasn’t. I landed face down, did not hit my head thanks to my angels and other protection but did sprain both wrists, hit my both knees and my back isn’t talking to me. My left wrist is immobilized in a hard wrist splint thingy but still hurts if I try to use it very much. So, once again I win “not looking where I’m going and wind-up hurt award.” 😂 I will post what I can daily until my right wrist says stop. No tomorrow posts for now.

If you want to see some information on any tradition of witchcraft, please put it in the comment section. I will try to find some information to post about it.

May your and your family’s lives be filled with all things positive!
