Baubo Invocation

Hail Baubo, Mother of Laughter,
Great open door upon your belly,
You who open all things,
The woman’s womb, the hard-bound heart,
The eyes shut tight in fear,
The belly full of mirth repressed,
All these you tear open like a child
Reveals their holiday gifts with glee.
We are your packages, your presents,
To undo as you will!
Today no weeping will sound through our halls,
And only mirth shall walk our paths,
O Baubo upon the bridge!
You watch those who walk down to the dark places,
You see those who weep their sorrow
Like Mother Demeter trailing in the dust,
And your great heart of understanding
Knows that no word of sense will ever help
When the shadows are darkest.
Only absurdity, only paradox
The extravagant, the foolish, the incredible,
The outlandish and preposterous,
Only these can make their way
Under the tight doors of desolation,
Through the cracks of misery.
A small thing, laughter, yet without it
We drown in the rivers of our own self-importance.
Hail Baubo, Mother of Mirth!

(One or more who have been chosen to do the work of the ritual come forth to do Baubo’s job. They must shed their clothing, and naked wear faces painted on their bellies, and tell jokes until laughter is rampant. Finish with the chant listed on Ilithyia’s Day.)

At this point, what are your dreams and aspirations? What larger goals can you aspire to that will bring vitality and excitement into your life? This is a time for resting and gaining inner strength to prepare for a new cycle.

Spell To Ward Off Evil

To ward off evil spirits or energy:

In a small jar, place sage, sandalwood, galangal and brimstone herbs. Mix well and sprinkle sea salt on top. Cut a three inch piece of red string, and tie one knot into it, and place it in the jar. Next, place three pins or nails in the jar and close it shut. Light a black candle and say:

“Pins that prick, herbs and string, to protect me now, my guardians do soar!”

Hid the jar in a dark place to ward off any evil.

Magickal Tidbits for Those Magickal Meals

Magickal Tidbits

The following comprises a few ideas  as to what foods and seasonings may be incorporated into meals to accomplish your goals. As you expand upon this list—and you will–just one note of caution: Some herbs are poisonous! With that in mind, please check a reliable herbal before incorporating any substance with which you’re unfamiliar.

Basil:  Season foods with this herb to loosen a partner’s hold on the money and force him or her to spend some on you.

Bread braid:  As it’s pulled apart and consumed, bread baked in this form can be used to separate lovers and break up relationships.

Cayenne pepper: Commonly known as the “hot food powder of the culinary world,” this little gem works wonders when it comes to getting your way. Be sure to apply it liberally.

Cinnamon:  Fold and mix this into recipes to induce and secure love. (Pies, rolls, cakes, cookies, and wine are good options.) Sprinkle it on top of beverages to obtain money.

Clove:  Long known for its powers of seduction, add ground or powdered clove to hot beverages and desserts to induce lust. (Once you’ve got the target in the position desired, add it to massage oil to really liven things up!)

Ginger: Add this to foods to increase sexual endurance and stamina.

Kava-Kava root:  This peppery-tasting substance induces a natural state of euphoria and relaxes the judgment centers, making them open to suggestion. The key, though, is that it must be fresh or freshly dried. And since it’s most effective when added to a butter or milk base, it’s the perfect addition to egg nog, cream sauces, or gravies.

Mint:  Incorporate to cool anger and force your target to chill out—even if you’re the one at fault.

Nuts:  Want to plant the seeds of your desires in the target’s head and make them think it was their idea? Just add any type of nut to the food you’re serving. Nuts may also be used to plant seeds of doubt.

Potato:  It a target is standing in the way of what you want, carve his or her initials in a potato, then cut it into small pieces before cooking and serving. (It’s also useful to add a dollar sign to the carving if your target is being stingy with money.)

Saltpeter:  A pinch of this added to any food will definitely keep any lover from straying. It’s important to note, however, that while your lover won’t stray, he or she won’t be able to perform with you either.

Sesame seeds;  Because these are sacred to both Ganesha and Hecate, they are excellent additions when used to remove obstacles and get what you want.

The magick that’s within this dish

Is meant for (name of target), as is my wish.

On others who may hear its call

It shall not have any effect at all.

Pure delight is all they’ll feel

As they fill their plates and eat this meal.

But (name of target), it will hit magickally

As I will, So Mote It Be.

Living Life As The Witch – Stirring The Pot

Witchy Cat Graphics & Comments

Stirring The Pot

It never fails to amaze me just how many cooking related things we do in the kitchen that we simply take for granted. We don’t know where they came from or why we do them. There’s certainly no thought at all to their magickal significance. And yet, we know that most every action has at least one.

Take adding grains of rice to our salt shakers, for example. While the rice does, indeed, absorb moisture and keep the salt from crystallizing, there’s more to it than that. For one thing, it’s said that dry salt bring good fortune—since it wards off evil, that makes perfect sense—but that damp salt is an omen of death in the family. Add that to the fact that the magickal properties of rice vibrate to abundant blessings, and you have a veritable good luck spell on your hands.

There’s also the fact that we add salt to water we plan to boil. Although most of us think it’s a simple matter of bringing water to a boil more quickly, there’s more to it than that. In ancient times, it was added as an offering to the Gods, so They’d bless the contents of the pot and prevent good fortune from escaping with the steam.

That brings us to stirring the pot. And whether right-handed or left-handed, whether working in a circular motion or a figure eight, it’s something that everyone involuntarily handles in the same fashion: We all stir clockwise. How does this happen? Well, it’s just one of those interesting human phenomena—a phenomenon with a basis in magick. When we stir clockwise, we emulate the movement of the Sun. And in doing so, we reap His blessings—general gain and success, health, wealth, good luck, etc.—-not only upon the food we’re preparing but upon all those who partake of it.

However, if we choose to stir the pot in a counter-clockwise motion—and this will take some doing as stirring in the other direction is completely automatic—it drastically changes the energies contained within the food. Need proof? When a pot is about to boil over, just point at it, move your finger clockwise around the outside perimeter, and see what happens. The level of the contents lowers in the pot and there’s no need to turn down the heat. That’s because you’ve changed the vibrational energy of the substance. And it’s precisely this type of energy that you’ll want to accumulate when working extremely manipulative magick and build upon while visualizing your intent.

One more thing: If you’re going to use food to accomplish your magickal goals, be absolutely certain that you name your target during preparation. Why? Because you’ll want to prevent the magick within the food from affecting you or someone else. In fact, it’s a good idea to take things a step further and charge any prepared food with a food incantation.  This is one case where it truly is better to be safe than sorry!

Wednesday, The Day Of Wisdom and The Day of Mercury

The Day of Wisdom,
 The Day of Mercury

wodensdaeg (Anglo-Saxon)
mittwoch (Germanic)
dies mercurii (Latin)
budh-var (Hindu)
boodh (Islamic)
mercredi (French)
sui youbi (Japanese

Traditionally known as the fourth day of the week. This day was associated with Odin the God of War, Wisdom, Agriculture and Poetry. He was also regarded as the God of the Dead. The Anglo-Saxons changed the name from ‘Odin’s Day’ to ‘Woden’s Day’, whilst the French referred to the day as ‘Mercredi’ or ‘Mercury’s Day’, Mercury being the God of Science, Commerce, Travellers, Rogues, and Thieves. In most of Europe Wednesday was thought to be a very unlucky day whilst in the USA quite the opposite was believed as the following New England rhyme shows: ‘Monday for health,
Tuesday for wealth,
Wednesday the best of all.
Thursday for losses,
Friday for crosses,
And Saturday no luck at all!’ The above rhyme has according to research also been associated with selecting days to get married. The Persians associated Wednesday with the name ‘Red Letter Day’. It is believed that this was because they believed that the moon was created on this day. According to the English historian Richard Grafton certain dates of the month were unlucky as published in the ‘Manual’ in 1565. Days throughout the year were identified and of course could have related to any day of the week. The date was the most important point to consider. The work was reputed to have some credence with support given by astronomers of the day.

Blessed Wednesday Morning, my dear family & friends! What’s UP?

Good Wednesday Morning, dear family & friends! How is everyone doing today? I hope absolutely fabulous! Me, well let’s see, I guess I owe you an explanation for us not being on the net yesterday. And oh boy, it is a good one too! I actually beat everyone to work yesterday morning. I came in and turned the heat on in the office part. Then I went to check on the critters outside.  Well I walked down the path a little bit and something told me to turn around. I did and there was smoke rolling out of the roof. My first thought, “oh shit!” I went flying back up the hill and into the back door. The damn furnace we have been having problems with was on fire. The first thing I did was throw the breaker. The next thing was to grab and blanket and call 911 at the same time. I was beating the fire with the blanket and screaming at the phone operator. I am surprised the Fire Department even found me (probably wouldn’t have, but they had been out here before!).  In the meantime, one of the guys came in and he saw what was going on. He went up to the main office and got the fire extinguisher. But he didn’t use the fire extinguisher on the heater he used it on me. Part of my pants were on fire and I didn’t even notice it. Between him putting me out and then me putting the heater out, the fire was out by the time the fire department got here. Doesn’t it figure? Anyway they checked out everything to make sure there wasn’t any hidden fire lurking about. They gave the all clear signal and we went back in. Thank goodness, we didn’t have any babies in the back. We opened all the windows and doors and let the smoke get out of the place.  The guy that helped put my pants out called my husband and he came down. I didn’t know he had called him. But he had his reasons for doing so. I have second degree burns on my arm and part of my leg.  So they threw a fit for me to go to the hospital. I said “bullsh*t!” Well I ended up going anyway. They didn’t do anything except tell me to keep the burns nice and clean and be careful not rupture the boils. Like I didn’t know that already, lol!

Before I left with my husband, I told all the girls to take the day off. And the main man that is over the animal refuge told me to take the day off. He would take care of the office building and the animals. The office still stinks today. But the Fire department did tell me, they have something they can spray throughout a building and it gets rid of the smoke smell. I got a super odor eater incense recipe around here somewhere. I will have to track that down today. But that is why we weren’t on the net yesterday. We were just having balls of fun around here as usual. But I guess that is what you get when you buy an old building. We are in the process of fixing it up but I think now it is going to burn down before we get it fixed up. If it ain’t one thing, it is another. I swear!

Have a super Wednesday, my sweeties!

Luv & Hugs,

The Old Firebug Herself, Lady A
