What being a Pagan Witch means to Me?

When I began practicing witchcraft is was just to do spells to try and change things in my life it wasn’t a spiritual walk. As time went on and I studied with first a coven and then as a solitary my views changed. I saw it as a way to help others not just myself. Slowly over the years I came more and more to the spiritual aspect of it until the spiritual overtook the magickal part. The spiritual part started awakening abilities that I was born with.

I have been a spirit talker since about the age of three years old and guide by my mom who also was born with this ability. It was very scary this first time I saw and talked with the spirit of my paternal grandfather who had crossed many, many years before I was even thought of. My mom came in and told my grandpa he should have come to her again first and she would have introduced us before he came directly to me.

Spell For Sunday – Summon and be in Touch with your Spirit Animal

Summon and be in Touch with your Spirit Animal

Your spirit animal is you in spirit form. It represents your personality and personality traits. A spirit animal can be shared by lots of people. This will demonstrate how you can come in contact with it, and be spiritually clean and active.

You will need the following items for this spell:

1 Glass plate or bowl

Some salt (depending on how big bowl/plate is.It should cover the bottom with a thin coating)

REAL small silver charm/jewelry

2 candles

2 small mirrors

1 cup of water

Casting Directions for ‘Summon and be in Touch with your Spirit Animal’

Step 1: Know your spirit animal. You can take a quiz or look it up, but usually what you feel in your gut is the most accurate. If you do n’t know, here is a fantastic quiz.

Step 2: Know about it. Research the animal for a little bit, maybe 5 minutes.

Step 3: Light the two candles.

Step 4: Take the bowl or plate and fill it with a thin layer of salt. Put the two candles on either side of the bowl or plate, on it’s left and right.

Step 5: Make a hole in the middle of the salt about 3 cm. wide and tall. Make 7 even beams in the salt coming out from the circle.

Step 6: Pour the water from the circle, and then watch it flow into the rays. Pour until they are full, but do not overflow.

Step 7: Take the charm or jewelry and put it in the center of the ring, which should be filled with water.

Step 8: Place the mirrors next to the candles, so they are closer to the bowl/plate compared to candles. They ought to reflect the image of the jewelry or charm.

Step 9: Say:

Myself is yet failing me
Make it not so, ________ (say your spirit animal)
Show me the right path
Light the way to a better self

Step 10: After saying that, blow out the candles one by one from right to left. The mirror on the right is yourself, and the one on the left is the animal.

Step 11: Ask the question or simply talk in the mirror on the left to communicate with the creature. If it responds, it is going to show you from the ideal mirror. Do not be pushy. Or else.

  The Spell:

If your stone is physically dirty, clean it following the appropriate instructions found on Cleanse and Clean Crystals & Stones.

Use equal amounts of whole cloves and Witch’s Black Salt and mix them together in a small bowl.

Place the jasper in the bowl and cover it with the cloves and Witch’s Black Salt mixture.

Leave the stone in the bowl for 24 hours if the moon is full. Otherwise, it will need three days to charge fully.

Keep the amulet with you at all times since it can’t protect you if it isn’t with you. In the case of home protecting, place the amulet close to the main entrance door.

The term folk magic encompasses a wide variety of diverse magical practices united only by the fact that they are the magical practices of the common folk, rather than the ceremonial magic that was worked by the learned elite.

Folk magic is generally of a practical nature, meant to address the common ills of the community: healing the sick, bringing love or luck, driving away evil forces, finding lost items, bringing good harvests, granting fertility, reading omens and so on. Rituals are generally relatively simple and often change over time as the workers are generally illiterate. Materials used are commonly available: plants, coins, nails, wood, eggshells, twine, stones, animals, feathers, etc.

Folk Magic in Europe

It’s becoming increasingly common to see claims about European Christians persecuting all forms of magic, and that folk magicians were practicing witchcraft. This is untrue. Witchcraft was a specific type of magic, one that was harmful. Folk magicians did not call themselves witches, and they were valued members of the community.

Moreover, until the last few hundred years, Europeans frequently did not distinguish between magic, herbalism, and medicine. If you were ill, you might be given some herbs. You might be instructed to consume them, or you might be told to hang them over your door. These two directions would not be seen as different nature, even though today we would say one was medicinal and the other was magic.

Hoodoo and Rootwork

Hoodoo is a 19th-century magical practice found primarily among African-American populations. It is a mixture of African, Native American, and European folk magic practices. It is generally strongly steeped in Christian imagery. Invisibility Glamor

This glamor spell doesn’t make you literally invisible, instead, it makes you much harder to notice. Please keep in mind that glamor can only do so much, if you’re making a ton of noise or if someone is specifically looking for you, it will be less effective. This glamor does not create “rob a bank without being seen” levels of invisibility. Instead, you will skate under the radar of most people’s notice. When I use it, often people are distracted at opportune moments, absorbed in their own affairs, and otherwise unlikely to take any notice of me.

The one downside of this spell is that it takes a bit of practice and you need to be feeding the spell the entire time you want to be invisible. I would suggest that before you use it, you dress to blend in. Don’t wear a suit to a college campus. Don’t wear pajama pants in an office building. You want to make it easy for people to overlook you. Blend in with what people are expecting to see and they can ignore you.

Practice this at home and around housemates first before trying it out in public. Start somewhere secluded where you can focus. You will tap into a feeling signature or energy and then maintain that as long as you can.

Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Notice the surface of your body, where your skin meets your clothes or the air around your body. Feel into this very tangible part of yourself. When you’re ready, imagine this barrier between yourself and the outside world dissolving, leaving your outline hazy and indistinct. Imagine that your body becomes as insubstantial as mist, like someone could look right through you if they tried. Work to strengthen this feeling signature and cement it in your mind. When you’re ready, try opening your eyes and then getting up and walking around. Avoid catching sight of your reflection as that can jar you out of the right headspace. Can you maintain this sense of an insubstantial body while you are moving? When you can keep the insubstantial, mist-like feeling while moving, it’s time to try it with another person around. Again, remember that if you make noise or speak to anyone, they will probably still see you. If you struggle to maintain the insubstantial body around other people, or if it’s not effective, don’t worry. This takes practice! You might try adjusting the visualization or sensation that you’re focusing on. What would invisibility feel like to you?

Try this around different people and in different situations as you become more comfortable with the technique. You may find that some people are more susceptible to it than others, or that it’s easier for you to maintain in some situations more than others.

TYPE OF SPELL OR FORMULA: This should state very clearly what the type of spell is e.g. blessing, binding etc. When developing formulas for lotions and potions, for instance, you need to be clear as to the exact purpose.

 

DATE AND TIME MADE: This gives a cross-reference should you wish to use the correct planetary hours or magical days.

 

REFERENCE: you should develop your own system of reference; this might be, for instance, according to the time of year or alphabetically. Do also remember to keep safely somewhere a record of how you have developed your reference system so that others may benefit from your experience.

 

ASTROLOGICAL PHASE: if you have an interest in astrology you will probably want to record where the planets are when you prepare the spell or formula. A decent ephemeris (list of planetary positions) can be of great help here though there are also many sources of information on the internet.

 

SPECIFIC PURPOSE: you should always state the specific purpose of the spell or formula very clearly. This is partly because it helps to focus your own mind, but also because it leaves no one in any doubt as to your intentions. Should you have more than one main purpose, you should also record these.

 

LIST OF INGREDIENTS AND/OR SUPPLIES NEEDED: Having all your ingredients to hand ensures that you are working with maximum efficiency and not misusing or needing to adjust the energy by leaving the sacred space. Also, when you repeat a working you will need to replicate what you did the first time; even one small change in ingredients can make a tremendous difference to the outcome.

 

SPECIFIC LOCATION REQUIRED: You may well need to perform some spells within a certain area or setting. Also you may discover that your own energy responds to some locations better than others.

 

DATE, TIME AND ASTROLOGICAL PHASE WHEN USED: In all probability you will not want all your spells to take effect at the time you cast them. suppose you have applied for a job and wish your spell to work at the time of interview. You would need to carefully calculate the date, time and astrological phase of the interview as well as the time you are actually casting your spell and incorporate both sets of information into your working.

 

RESULTS: Record carefully all aspects of results you feel are associated with your working. This record should include how successful you consider the spell to be and how it might be improved. There will be some unexpected results, some which appear not to give a tangible result and others which come into play some time after they were expected.

 

DEITIES INVOKED DURING PREPARATION AND/OR USE: Often a particular god can be helpful in bringing about a needed result for a spell. You will chose the most appropriate for your purpose and can always petition a different one at another time.

 

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARATIONS AND/OR USE: Often when spell-working, movements and words are intuitive and instinctive; the more you are able to remember what you did the more likely you are to achieve similar results. Also, should you require them for someone to work on your behalf or to undertake someone else’s magical training, you will have an exact record.

 

ADDITIONAL NOTES: Here you should record for each occasion anything that seems strange, bizarre or noteworthy so that you know what to expect next time.

 

In each of the spells we give a list of ingredients and special articles which may be required to achieve a result for that particular spell. Because each individual brings their own energy into the process, you may find that you intuitively want to change something, whether that is an ingredient, a container or the words used.
