The Full Hunter’s Moon experiences a partial lunar eclipse on Oct. 28. Here’s what to expect
Two weeks after casting its shadow across the Americas during an annular solar eclipse, the moon will swing around to skim through the northern edge of the Earth’s own shadow on Saturday, Oct. 28.
Eclipses of the sun and moon usually come in pairs. A solar eclipse is almost always accompanied by a lunar eclipse two weeks before or after it, since in two weeks the moon travels halfway around its orbit and is likely to form another almost-straight line with Earth and the sun.
This month will be no exception. Two weeks after casting its shadow across the Americas on Oct. 14 during an annular solar eclipse, the moon will swing around to barely skim through the northern edge of the Earth’s own shadow on Saturday, Oct. 28.
This will be almost like the lunar eclipse in May, though the moon passes not quite so wide of the center of the Earth’s shadow and manages to give the Earth’s dark umbra a glancing blow; an underwhelming postscript to the annular eclipse of the sun that was staged for North Americans exactly two weeks earlier.

Harvest time has deep significance and meaning for those willing to pay attention. It is both a time of celebration and fortifying oneself for the long journey ahead. Harvest in the old days was a genuinely special time, because unlike nowadays, winter forced most humans into a period of rest. With the advent of the cheap petroleum age, wintertime has become a time of bustling activity as many of us drive and shop in a frenzy to prepare for holidays, but if you think back to times when there were no lights outside of lanterns and candles when the sun set at 4pm, you can rightfully imagine it wasn’t the busiest time of year! Harvests celebrate the bounty of the summer but also the coming death of a year, which is but a larger celebration of the death of a season, which is a larger celebration of the death of the week (the weekend), which is a larger celebration of the death of a day by having a meal and then going to bed. Death is called The Reaper — when we look at this meaningfully, The Reaper is not such a bad guy. He’s taking care of business for us so we can rest and wake up ready and refreshed for the next life. Of course drawing this Ogham does not mean you or someone else is going to die. Instead, look for the culmination of a phase, project, or a way of being. You have reason to recognize and celebrate a job well done, a graduation, an obstacle overcome, or a subtle shift. The end of a cycle, even if it wasn’t the best one, is worthy of recognition and celebration before we rest and prepare for the next cycle. Decadence is not to be feared — a little decadence after hard work is natural and should be enjoyed.

“What’s the latest possible date that I can still make something out of my life?” This is a question we procrastinators have. Relax because it’s not this week, because this week is all about being laid back and lazy. Thursday is nice for studying, planning and schmoozing; then the pace will pick up by Friday. Actually, for the rest of the year, no major planetary changes really occur. A few days ago, Mars moved into Scorpio for six weeks, which makes everyone more intense and bolder. (“V for Vendetta!”) Then, on Nov. 24th, Mars will move into Sagittarius for the rest of the year, which encourages travel plans and outdoor sports. So, relax and enjoy yourself. Let’s all play the game “Bureaucracy!” That’s where everyone stands in a circle and the first person to do anything loses.
Aries (March 21-April 19)
This week you will have intense, meaningful conversations with those who are closest to you. These conversations will be lively because someone has something to say. Perhaps they want to put their cards on the table? (Could be you – could be them.) Because Mercury is lined up with the Sun opposite your sign, someone is going to state their case. Nevertheless, this is also an excellent time to meet with others and make practical plans for the future. Down-to-earth discussions. Meanwhile, your sex drive is strong! Disputes about shared property might occur. Fortunately, relations with coworkers are excellent and mutually supportive. And of course, let us not forget that this is your year to get richer!
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Even though this is a laid-back week, you will actually get things done because you’re motivated with the Sun in your House of Employment. Therefore, you want to do things as efficiently as possible to be productive. Furthermore, you want to work in a very hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves way. Quite likely, someone older or more experienced will have advice for you, or they might directly help you. Nevertheless, let’s face it. You love your creature comforts so you will take time out for some fun, including playful games with children. Creative activities will appeal. Romance is also blessed. There’s no need to pretend to be what you are not.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
This week is play city for you! Grab every opportunity to get out and enjoy yourself. Meet friends for lunch, dinner, coffee or happy hour. Enjoy short trips, movies, plays and the entertainment world. Sports events will delight. Do whatever appeals to you because you’re in the mood to party and socialize! You will also love to express your creative talents if you get a chance. Meanwhile, redecorating projects plus entertaining at home will also appeal. Despite all these frivolous, fun diversions, you will still be productive because Mars will give you a sense of pride and personal satisfaction from your work. Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Your focus on home and family continues. Family discussions are taking place and probably home repairs as well. This is just what’s happening. However, Mars is in the most playful part of your chart, urging you to get out and play. It’s time to be yourself and express to others exactly who you are. Mars will also amp your sex drive and your desire to flirt. You’ll also enjoy competitive athletic activities. Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
