WOTC Extra(b) – Your Time of Personal Power

goth witch

Your Time of Personal Power

By keeping records of your spellwork, you should be able to figure out which days of the week or time of day your spells tend to work. Perhaps there’s a particular time of day or time during the moon cycle when you feel as if you could do anything, when raising energy is easy, when you can focus easily and tune out distractions with no problem. This, then, would be a power time for you.
Your power time is an alternate timing bonus for you. It’s like a secret weapon: you can default to casting a spell during your power time and know that it will have just as much impact as scheduling the spell for 7: 38 on a Thursday evening during the waning moon might have.
To pinpoint your power time, look through your spell journal. Your notes concerning the immediate results will be important: how did you feel during the actual casting of the spell itself? Conscientious maintenance of short-term and long-term results will be important as well. Look at the time, moon phase, or moon sign of the successful spells. Is there a pattern? Are you particularly on the ball when the moon is in Pisces, or in Virgo? Perhaps casting during the hour of Mars is the key to your success. Take a look at the weather as well. It may be that clear sunny days or cool evenings are your power times.
Everyone’s power time is different. You also might have more than one power time, which might make it difficult to narrow down. Don’t worry; the more often you cast spells, the clearer it will become.

Let’s Talk Witch – Timing of Manifestation

goth witchTIMING OF MANIFESTATION

A common question associated with timing concerns how long you’ll have to wait until you see the results of your efforts. There is no hard and fast rule about when success will manifest, and this is due to a number of variables such as the degree of concentration and focus, the amount of energy that went into the spell, the kinds of obstacles and challenges you are working against, and what your goal is.

As a general rule, however, your evaluation ought to be connected to the method of timing you employed in your spell. As I mentioned above, if you choose to cast a spell timed to a season, look for the manifestation of results to be reflected in that temporal process. One of the reasons why spellcrafters tend to use moon cycles more frequently than solar cycles is because the moon goes through a full cycle in approximately twenty-eight days, as opposed to the sun’s 365-day cycle. A standard practice is to wait one full lunar cycle before you evaluate the spell’s progress; that means if you haven’t seen any movement whatsoever concerning your problem within about twenty-eight days, note it down in your records and think about what to do next. Do you want to do a small spell to raise energy to support the original spell?

By the second lunar cycle after your spell (that’s just under two months), if you still haven’t seen any movement concerning your situation, it’s time to evaluate again. Do you want to recast the spell? Do you want to do another spell to remove obstacles?

In your first and second monthly evaluations, you’ll have to make a personal choice between leaving the original spell to do the work you sent it out to do, undisturbed; supporting the original spell by raising and sending it more energy; or redoing the spell completely. Have patience, and have faith.

Even though you may not see significant changes, the energy of a spell has a lot of little things to shift and nudge in order to rebalance a situation. It can take a while for any kind of result to become obvious.

If, by the time the moon has cycled three times after your original spell (that’s just under three months), you still haven’t felt or seen any change, then abandon the spell and approach the situation differently, perhaps with a different spell, a rephrased need, or a simplified goal.

A common error on the part of spellcasters is to assume that their spell isn’t working and to cast it again soon after the original spell. Ours is a society which functions on instant gratification, and patience is not one of our strong points; we forget that life moves in cycles, and that nature is not about to jump the tracks just to hand us our hearts’ desires. Scrapping your spell simply because it hasn’t demonstrated dramatic change is like throwing the proverbial baby out with the bath water. There’s a bunch of your energy out there, patiently toiling away to slowly reform reality in accordance to your will. If you recast the spell, or create a new spell to do the same thing, you’re not only telling your subconscious that you don’t trust it, you’re ordering the energy out there to stop in its tracks.

Remember, more often is not necessarily better. If you keep stirring those energies, you can stir them right off course.

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace

Amazing grace, how sweet the Earth
that bore a witch like me!
I once was burned, now I survive,
was hung and now I sing.

T’was grace that drew down the moon
and grace that raised the seas.
The magic in the people’s will
will set our Mother free.

We face the East and breathe the winds
that move across this earth.
From gentle breeze to hurricane
our breath will bring forth the change.

Turn towards the South and feel the fire
that burns in you and me.
The spirit’s flame will rise again
and burn eternally.

We greet the West, our souls awash
in tides of primal birth.
Our tears and blood, our pain and love
will cleanse and heal the earth.

Reach into the North and know your roots
down deep ancestral caves.
We find the wisdom of the Crone,
Of circles we are made.

Amazing earth, enduring life,
from death into rebirth.
T’is earth I am and earth I love
and earth I’ll always be.

Amazing grace, how sweet the Earth
that bore witches like we.
We once were burned, now we survive,
were hung and now we sing.

Goddess bless, so mote it be,
Our magic spirals on.
Merry meet and merry part
and merry meet again.

The Witches Magick for the 21st Day of the Hare Moon – Blue Candle Healing Magic

Blue Candle Healing Magic

This spell can be used to enhance recovery from an illness.

You will need a ballpoint pen, a blue candle, rosemary-scented oil, and a picture of the person needing healing.

At 12:34 a.m., inscribe the name of the person needing the healing on the candle body three times.

Each time you inscribe the name, repeat:

May the healing energy of the Goddess and God be with you.

Dress the candle with a thin film of rosemary oil. Also, put a drop of oil on each of the four edge corners of the photograph. Wipe any remaining oil from your hands, put the photograph on your altar, and set the candle on top of the photograph in such a way so you can still see the person’s face. Light the candle. Say:

As this candle burns, [Say the person’s name] good health returns.
Center your mind and focus on sending healing energy to the person, and say:

May the divine healing spirit restore
[say person’s name] health and
vitality. May [say person’s name]
body be healed, strong, peaceful, and
filled with the powerful presence of
the Goddess and God. May [say person’s name]
be blessed with deep healing within and without.
May [say person’s name] be whole, vital and strong.

Concentrate on the face in the photograph as the candle burns. With all of your awareness, with your mind, heart, and spirit, will the person to be completely well again. Keep doing this for at least fifteen minutes. When you are finished, allow the candle to safely burn down. Put the photograph in a safe place.

Poppet Binding Spell

Poppet Binding Spell

The purpose of this spell is to rid yourself of the negative energies of someone who is mentally or emotionally abusing you. If done properly, it will not harm the object of the spell nor will it affect his or her daily life in any way. It will simply make the person powerless to mentally or emotionally harm you.

Preform when Moon is dark

Materials:

Small cloth doll,(poppet) leave the head unstitched until you are ready to begin the ritual Needle and thread

Some personal item from the person you want to bind (fingernail clippings, hair, handwriting sample)

Black ribbon

Black candle

Cauldron or other fireproof container

Sterilized needle

Piece of parchment paper and pen or quill

One candle at each quarter (optional)

Ritual:

Call the quarters – I like to use candles at each quarter to form a circle of fire for extra protection. Light the black candle Concentrating deeply on the person you are binding, place the personal object inside the head of the doll and sew it shut.Tie the black ribbon around the poppet’s head, signifying the binding of that person.

‘With harm to none, my will be done

I hereby bind you (name of person)

Your words cannot harm me

Your thoughts cannot harm me

You cannot harm me’

Continue chanting this or something like it until you feel power surging through you. Visualize the person helpless to slander or verbally and mentally abuse you while you are chanting.

~ Now, to bind the spell ~

If you have a sigil or a craft name, sign it on the small piece of paper. If not, sign your own full name. If others are working the ritual with you, they too should sign the paper. With the sterilized needle, prick one of your fingers and put a small drop of blood over your signature. Again, if others are working with you, they should place a drop of blood over their signatures. (using a different needle, of course) Fold the paper, light it on fire and drop it into the cauldron (which should be on a heat-proof surface!). Meditate on the flames until the paper completely burns away. If you are working with a group, join hands at this point and feel the power surging around the circle as the spell is bound. Ground and center Release the circle. Thank the Goddess and God for their protection and power Bury the doll as far away from you as possible within the next few days.

Ice Binding 2

Ice Binding 2

Another way of ridding yourself of an unwanted negative influence is to write the name of the person or event at cause on a piec of paper. Concentrate on putting the negative energy into the paper. Place the piece of paper into a jar of water and put it into the freezer. Allow the paper to remain frozen in the water until all of the negative energy flow has completely stopped, then you can remove it, thaw it, and bury it in the ground.

Ice Binding 1

Ice Binding 1

Light a white candle and your favorite incense. Meditate a short while
on the problem. Invoke the Spirits of Protection for you and yours. Then
take a piece of brown paper, like from a grocery bag, on it use a lead
pencil to print and write the name of the offending person or people. If
unknown people are involved, also print and write, “and all persons unknown
that are causing harm to me!”

Cross off each line forcefully and say, forcefully,

” I freeze name(s) to be bound by this spell, unable to cause any more
harm to (name(s)! As I will, so mote it be! “

Then put a spoonful of used coffee grounds on the brown paper, fold it
small, and place it in the freezer. Leave it until the problem is
completely resolved. You may wish to  wrap a rubber band, string, twist tie, etc. to keep the coffee grounds from falling out of the paper. You can also use a ziploc bag. Be sure and burn the candle completely up. Don’t  use that candle for a different purpose.

CANDLE BINDING

CANDLE BINDING

Get a large white candle, the kind that drips wax, and set it up on a tray. Affix it to a photograph or other image of the person you wish to bind. Make a ring of sea salt around it. Make a second ring with protective herbs. Fill the rest of the tray with images that represent what you are binding the person from: pictures of your family, keys to your house, legal documents, whatever. If the problem is too complex for images, write what the person is bound from on slips of paper and place them around the candle. Papyrus, or paper made from cotton or linen work best for this. Use red ink if you are angry, purple ink if you are sad.

Wrap the candle and the image with black thread. Invoke Isis and Linda, the Binder with Linen Thread. Say out loud what you are binding the person from. Light the candle and leave it to burn until the wax begins to drip over the thread and image. Burn it every day for a week, until the image is thick with wax. Use this as a meditation device to direct your will to binding the person.

Cover the item with sea salt.

August Birthstone – Peridot

Peridot, a symbol of vitality and is the gemstone for people born in August. The official name for peridot is olivine, and can be found in a wide spectrum of green from light-yellow to dark olive. The Egyptians were known to mine for the peridot on Saint John’s Island around 1500 BC. It was used to ward off night terrors and more specifically, when set in gold, would ward off evil. It has also been ground into a fine powder to treat asthma sufferers and used as a cure for thirst most experience during a fever. It has been said that its owner, when worn would have the power of invisibility, and that if a thief about to be hanged or beheaded might escape if one was held in their mouth. It can bring peace, protection and sleep. It has also been worn to calm anger by soothing ones nerves, expelling negative energy. They also can attract love.

The peridot has many symbolic purposes, one that it promises growth for the future and gives strength to individuals and those in relationships. Peridot is a brilliant young green and were first discovered in the black sands of Hawaii. Hawaiian legend states they were tears shed by the volcanic goddess, Pele. It is a connection to nature and Early Egyptians drank from cups made of peridot, believing they would be drawn closer to the goddess of nature, Isis.

The Egyptians also called it the “gem of the sun”, due to its brilliance that it would showcase in the desert sun. By miners, it is said that even in darkness, the peridot could be seen, and they would mark the location. They would then return in the daytime to retrieve them. Perhaps this is why the peridot is at times referred to as the “evening emerald”. Today, it is mined in Hawaii, the Congo, Arizona, Burma, Norway, Australia and Brazil.

August is a month in which for many is viewed as the end of the summer cycle. A time when some need to make plans and begin preparing for the cooler months of fall. It is a time of harvest and hard work. Our bodies are challenged with physical work and long hours. This is a time when one might need to search for strength from an outside source or symbol. During this month we are once again in touch with the earth and the significant seasonal shifts. The birthstones representing each month are meant to empower their owners with gifts specifically needed for each of these seasonal shifts. When the human condition falls short of spiritual or mental needs, these precious stones have been believed to gift their owners strength and endurance in many forms.

Other interesting facts about the August Birthstone of Peridot:

-They were discovered first in Egypt on a tiny island named Zabargard over four-thousand years ago

-In earlier times, Catholic Bishops would wear a peridot ring as a symbol of their purity

-In Medieval times, churches were obsessively adorned by them

-Considered a gift from Mother Nature

-They are created from the conditions of extreme heat from volcanoes

-The most abundant deposits are found in Burma.

-They have been recommended for gall bladder and liver illness

Other Symbols of August:

August Birth Flower:

The Poppy, more specifically the poppy native to the Mediterranean regions. These yield a source of opium, that in the ancient world would bring on sleep and ease pain when taken in smaller amounts. Poppies were associated with the god of sleep, Hypnos and Morpheus, the god of dreams by the Greeks.

August Birth Tree:

The Pine tree. It represents, immortality and longevity.

Sweet Dreams Spell

To help you sleep peacefully and have pleasant dreams, create a tranquil and calming environment for your bedroom. The windows should have either curtains or walls that are light coloured or pastel tones and make sure the bed head is well away from the door.  Cleanse the atmosphere of your room by holding a sprig of lavender and walking through the room with a peaceful mind and heart.  At bedtime turn off everything in the room that could be distracting or disturbing, like television and loud music or radios.  Put a lavender sachet under your pillow and before go to sleep say to yourself,

“Feather light on starry night, cosy warm and tired, pleasant dreams and sweetest thoughts as little angels smile.”

Create Your Own Moon Spells

Create Your Own Moon Spells

Because of the very nature of Magic, each working should be highly individualized and personal. Even if following a traditional spell, it should be tailored to your specific needs to be most effective for you.
Understanding the basics of Spell Construction will enable you to formulate your own specific, effective spells for any purpose you desire. Preliminary planning is necessary.
The very first step is to decide precisely what your desired end result is to be.
Before you can start, you must decide where you are going. You must be very explicit. It is important, also, that you choose your time carefully. You should take into consideration all Astrological implications, energy currents and Moon phases.

The Moon is the astronomical body closest to us and, therefore, has a profound influence upon us, it is very important to choose a time when the Moon is in an astrological sign which is appropriate for your working.
For example: Aries/Action – Enthusiasm,

Taurus/ Renewal – Sensuality,

Gemini/Communication – Curiosity,

Cancer/ Emotion – Nurturing,

Leo/Vitality – Determined,

Virgo/Organizing – Studious,

Libra/Balance -Cooperation,

Scorpio/Sexual – Philosophical,

Capricorn/Authority – Ambitious,

Aquarius/Innovation – Social,

Pisces/Sensitivity – Idealistic.
Bear in mind that magickal workings for gain, increase or bringing things to you,
should be initiated when the Moon is Waxing (from Dark to Full); when the Moon is Waning (from Full to Dark), it is time for magical workings of decrease or sending away.
The highest energy occurs at the Full Moon and, therefore, this is the most powerful time for magical workings. The New Moon is the next most powerful time for Magic.

The Witches Magick for the 18th Day of the Hare Moon – Sound Sleep Candle Magick

Egyptian Comments & GraphicsSound Sleep Candle Magick

You will need a lavender-scented pillar candle, one-half cup of lavender flowers and a cloth pouch.

Place the candle next to your bedside. Just before you go to sleep, light the candle, dedicating it to your favorite goddess or god. Now, walk slowly around your bedroom counterclockwise three times. As you do, chant slowly and quietly:

I remove all negative energy from this place.

Imagine all the negative, unwanted energy flowing out of the area. Now, put the lavender flowers in the pouch. Crush them softly as you walk clockwise three times around your bedroom, all the while imagining weaving a protective space around you and your sleeping space. As you do, chant:

Sound sleep, pleasant dreams, blessed be.

Gaze at the candle for a few minutes and think about sleeping soundly and having pleasant dreams. Next, snuff out the candle and repeat three times:

I sleep soundly.

Put the cloth pouch inside your pillowcase for three weeks to encourage sound sleep. Each night, relight the candle and let it burn for a few minutes. Gaze at it again for a few minutes, then snuff it out and repeat three times:

I sleep soundly.

An Old-Fashioned Garlic Protection Spell

Egyptian Comments & Graphics

An Old-Fashioned Garlic Protection Spell

Once you’ve got all of the above things working on your behalf, if you still feel that you could use an extra dose of protection, I have personally always found that nothing protects as reliably or completely as good old-fashioned garlic.

For example, once you empower the garlic (whether it’s a clove, a head, a wreath or other arrangement, powder, or a supplement) in bright sunlight for at least five minutes (or by candlelight or fire if it’s nighttime or it’s cloudy out and you’re in a pinch), and infuse the garlic with your clear intention to protect you from all negativity and ill will, perform any of the following garlic protection practices according to your situation and desire.

Carry a clove of garlic as a protection amulet (I like to wrap one in cloth and safety-pin it under the front of my bra).

Hang a garlic wreath or arrangement on your front door or in a central location in your home.

Sprinkle garlic powder across your threshold or around the perimeter of your lot.

Take garlic supplements or cut a clove of garlic into small pieces and swallow them one at a time like pills to strengthen your personal energy field and keep negativity at bay.

Add fresh garlic or garlic powder to food. For extra-strength home protection, for each door to the outside, pierce a clove of garlic with two pins so that they are crossing each other, tie in a red cotton pouch with hemp twine, and hang on the outside of each door.

Blowing in the Wind Spell [Element of Air]

Lovely breezes and windy days can be used to connect with the magical element of Air and this magick charm is one that anyone can easily do for themselves and their friends. On a breezy day, find a piece of blue material or ribbon and tie one end to a fence, a tree branch or a clothesline.  Then, as you watch the ribbon fly and wave in the wind, repeat these words out loud,

“Blow laughing winds from North and South, from fairy lands and East to West, I’ll be happy as I say send me magic every day,”

You can leave the ribbon there for as long as you like and add any others to it for a magickal message to family and friends.

The Witches Magick for the 17th Day of the Hare Moon – Virgo Constellation Spell

Fanasy , magic witches . DidI5dd Virgo Constellation Spell

Virgo, the Virgin, is a zodiacal constellation as well as the second largest constellation. It rests highest in the night sky in the northern hemisphere during late spring and early summer. The virgin is also known as Astraea, who was a daimone clothed in air who lived on the earth during the Golden Age of Humankind. As a benevolent daimone, she guards, protects, and watches over mortals. Her province is justice, which is why Libra (the scales) rest next to Virgo in the night sky. Cast this spell to have one specific thing in your life work out justly.

For this spell you will need your favorite incense, your journal and pen, and your bathroom scale.

At 8: 00 p.m., draw a magic circle and call in the elements. Light the incense, dedicating it to Virgo, the Virgin. Write one thing that you would like to see work out justly and fairly. Keep it simple. Fold the paper four times. Now, step on your bathroom scale and step off, then do it again. Each time you step on the scale, say exactly what you want to work out justly and fairly. Be specific. Repeat stepping on and off the scale a total of eight times. Each time you do, repeat what you want. When you are done, thank the Virgin, bid farewell to the elements, and pull up the circle. Put the folded paper on your altar until you attain the results you desire.
