WOTC Extra(a) – Your Self-Image As A Witch

Your Self-Image As A Witch

Ironically, your self-image probably isn’t something you created yourself. It’s a patchwork affair made up of bits and pieces you’ve collected from lots of other people: family members, teachers, religious leaders, friends, your culture, and the media. Like donning clothing that’s in style, rather than in your style, the self-image you wear might be uncomfortable or inappropriate. Maybe you even fashioned your self-image without questioning whether or not the “garment” was right for you.

Tailoring your self-image according to someone else’s ideas usually results in unhappiness or frustration. If you see yourself in this picture, perhaps it’s time to take a closer look at the person you think you are, the person you’d like to be, and where the ideas you hold about yourself originated.

From what you know about magick, your thoughts about yourself and what you deserve will produce conditions that fit with your ideas. Your life is your mirror. What you see is a reflection of what you believe about yourself. If you aren’t happy with your situation, you can change it by changing your perceptions of yourself.

Remember, nobody else gets to decide whether you’re worthy. Only you do. Nor can anyone else limit your personal power without your consent — and that’s pretty sweet.

Let’s Talk Witch – Personal Power

DRAGONS BOOK OF DREAMS

Personal Power

Personal power has a lot to do with having “presence.” We all know people who just seem to shine, and everyone looks at them when they enter a room. Movie stars, powerful politicians, and celebrities have it. However, you don’t need to be someone in the public eye to possess presence. In fact, your job or social position rarely has anything to do with it. Presence comes from within — from being present in the moment and in harmony with yourself. Some little kids have it. Some elderly people have it. You’ll meet people from all walks of life who don’t even realize they have it. In some instances, a person may be born with presence, but usually it’s something you cultivate and nurture over time, with the development of self-knowledge.

Remember the old adage, know thyself? To know yourself and to use what you learn requires an act of will. As you know already, your will is the crux of every visualization, manifestation, and spell you cast. You don’t simply say the words or use the right herbs. You don’t just go through the motions. You plunge into yourself, you delve deep to discover your true motives, needs, and desires. You bring that self-knowledge into your daily awareness. Then you commit to your path and trust the process.

34: Great Vigor

hexagram09

Congratulations! There is strength and vigor in this situation — like a ram who has knocked down a fence to free himself from captivity. This points to a time when a powerful force comes into its own and achieves influence.

When a leader finally comes into power, his or her personal strength usually has peaked. Great strength is required in climbing to the mountaintop, but once at the summit, the support of others is needed to maintain that lofty position. A shift in attitude becomes necessary. Raw strength must be tempered by wisdom; to maintain power, a strong leader must learn to give it away, to share it with others. Only then will his or her position be secure, for she will not only be the possessor of power, but the source of it as well.

If you find yourself in a high or strong position, it is especially important to act responsibly and react with care. Your personal power must not be allowed to degenerate into raw force that rides roughshod over everything in its path. A strong sense of responsibility to the collective good of all is the key to the successful exercise of strength. By following what we intuitively know to be for the greater good, we avoid reckless abuses of power that in the end undermine the source of our strength. Arrogance always contains the seeds of its own undoing.

WOTC Extra(b) – Your Time of Personal Power

Your Time of Personal Power

By keeping records of your spellwork, you should be able to figure out which days of the week or time of day your spells tend to work. Perhaps there’s a particular time of day or time during the moon cycle when you feel as if you could do anything, when raising energy is easy, when you can focus easily and tune out distractions with no problem. This, then, would be a power time for you.
Your power time is an alternate timing bonus for you. It’s like a secret weapon: you can default to casting a spell during your power time and know that it will have just as much impact as scheduling the spell for 7: 38 on a Thursday evening during the waning moon might have.
To pinpoint your power time, look through your spell journal. Your notes concerning the immediate results will be important: how did you feel during the actual casting of the spell itself? Conscientious maintenance of short-term and long-term results will be important as well. Look at the time, moon phase, or moon sign of the successful spells. Is there a pattern? Are you particularly on the ball when the moon is in Pisces, or in Virgo? Perhaps casting during the hour of Mars is the key to your success. Take a look at the weather as well. It may be that clear sunny days or cool evenings are your power times.
Everyone’s power time is different. You also might have more than one power time, which might make it difficult to narrow down. Don’t worry; the more often you cast spells, the clearer it will become.
