Quintessential Quotes: “Reincarnation”

Quintessential Quotes: “Reincarnation”

However, each life is just that – new. There should be no dwelling on past lives, however fascinating it might seem to regress and discover the previous relationship. Get on with the present life and the present relationship. There are plenty of new lessons to be learned and new experiences to be had.

Let’s Talk Witch – REINCARNATION

Most Witches don’t believe in heaven or hell (except here on earth, as in a really good piece of chocolate or a really bad date). Those are primarily Christian concepts.

What we do believe in is the ongoing cycle of birth, living, death, and rebirth. Like the cycle of the seasons that we call the Wheel of the Year, most of us view this cycle of life as a natural extension of our other spiritual beliefs.

Since as Witches we believe in taking responsibility for our own actions, we also believe that we reap what we sow-that what you do in this life will determine what you end up dealing with in the next one.

Most Witches also believe that one of our major goals as human beings is to better ourselves (sometimes referred to as the Great Work, to acknowledge that for many of us this is a pretty big job … ).

Reincarnation means that, thankfully, we have more than one lifetime in which we can learn all that we need to know. (Personally, I’m sure that I will hit perfection any time now … the next lifetime, or maybe the one after that. Or the one after the one after that… oh, never mind.) The point is, we take what we are given in this particular incarnation and do the best we can with it.

Some Witches also believe in a place called the Summerlands, where we go to rest up in between lives and where we may meet up with our loved ones once again.

The main thing is, we don’t view death as an end but merely as another transition, a natural step in an ongoing dance. While we mourn for those we will no longer have with us in this life, we also know that nothing in the universe is ever truly lost to us. We will see all those we have loved again sometime, either in the Summerlands or in another life.

Some Witches actively try to find out information about their past lives by using a variety of approaches, including psychics, trance work (also known as “journeying”), and past-life regression. sion. And while many of the folks who offer such things are out-and-out frauds, there are some people out there who are the genuine article.

Just use some common sense if you are going to use outside help on your search. If someone tells you that you were Cleopatra or King James the something-or-other in another life, then asks you for lots of money, chances are good that the person in question is full of it.

Learning about a past life may help you to uncover the reasons for issues that you are dealing with in this one-especially if you seem to be stuck making the same mistakes over and over. Hopefully, finding out more about who you were in a past life will help you work to improve the one you are living now.

Whether you seek to learn about your past lives or choose to focus exclusively on the here and now, the knowledge that what you do matters – not just today and tomorrow, but in many tomorrows to come – should inspire you to make the most out of the lessons that life, and the gods, offer you.

Magickal Activity for January 27th, The Day of Ishtar – Creation Spell

"unicorns on valentines day"
Creation Spell

Items needed: One 8-pointed star print on green card stock; one green candle inscribed with the symbol of Venus; a vial of rose oil.

Begin by anointing the candle with the rose oil as you chant:

“Goddess of creation, Star of love,
Descend to me from far above.
Grant me wisdom, bring me power,
As I invoke your name this hour.”

Next, write out your desire on the back of the eight-pointed star. Light the candle, place it on top of the star, visualize your desire, and invoke Ishtar.

Lady of the Morning Star,
Queen of the heavenly sea.
Power of the mighty wind,
And keeper of the mystery.
Lady who guides the mighty Angels,
Mother of selfless devotion.
Enchantress of the mysteries,
Guardian of time and motion.
Lady I now invite thee here,
As the Virgin of pure love.
The one who moves the soul man,
With her splendor from above.
Lady I now invite thee here,
As the Mother of sacred Earth.
Whose power is beyond compare,
So to my dreams give birth.

Allow the candle to burn for four hours, and then extinguish. Carry the star with you or place it in your desk at work. Repeat this spell once a year to ensure creativity.

Day of Ishtar

In ancient Babylon, Ishtar was acknowledged as the “Light of the World” and the Goddess of the morning and evening. Her symbols were an eight-pointed star and crescent moon. She was divine personification of the planet Venus and the dispenser of the Never-Failing Waters of Life. Fertility and all aspects of creation were her epiphany.

Odin, Ruler of the Norse Gods, Wednesday’s Name Sake

Odin, Ruler of the Norse Gods, Wednesday’s Name Sake

In the Norse pantheon, Asgard was the home of the gods, and it was the place where one could find Odin, the supreme deity of them all. Connected to his Germanic ancestor Woden or Wodan, Odin was the god of kings and the mentor of young heroes, to whom he often gave magical gifts.

In addition to being a king himself, Odin was a shapeshifter, and frequently roamed the world in disguise. One of his favorite manifestations was that of a one-eyed old man; in the Norse Eddas, the one-eyed man appears regularly as a bringer of wisdom and knowledge to heroes.

He pops up in everything from the saga of the Volsungs to Neil Gaiman’s American Gods. He was typically accompanied by a pack of wolves and ravens, and rode on a magic horse named Sleipnir. Odin is associated with the concept of the wild hunt, and leads a noisy hoarde of fallen warriors across the sky.

Odin was said to summon dead heroes and kings to Valhalla, which they entered accompanied by the host of Valkyries. Once in Valhalla, the fallen engaged in feasting and combat, always ready to defend Asgard from its enemies. Odin’s warrior followers, the Berserkers, wore the pelts of a wolf or bear in battle, and worked themselves up into an ecstatic frenzy that made them oblivious to the pain of their wounds.

As a young man Odin hung on the world tree, Yggdrasil, for nine days while pierced by his own javelin, in order to obtain the wisdom of the nine worlds. This enabled him to learn the magic of the runes. Nine is a significant number in the Norse sagas, and appears frequently.

Odin continues to maintain a strong following, particularly amongst members of the Asatru community.

The More You Know – Wednesday

The More You Know – Wednesday

Wednesday is ruled by the planet Mercury and named for the Norse god Woden, or Odin. Odin is the father of the gods and represents ultimate wisdom. In Roman mythology, Mercury is the messenger of the gods and is often viewed as an aspect of Odin; both deities are characterized as wanderers with sharp wits.

Rites and spells for Wednesday involve communication and the sending and receiving of messages. Developing your attunement to goddesses and gods to receive an oracular communication would be a desirable effort for a Wednesday divination. Work involving communication with spirits, with a pendulum, runes, or some other tool with which you have some expertise would be suitable as well. Writers, poets, and scholars will also benefit from the influences of this day.

Unicorns in Paradise...

Be bold and daring today! Expand your knowledge of the Craft by working with the planetary energies of Mercury on this multifaceted day of the week. Consider the Greco-Roman gods Mercury and Hermes and all of the many lessons they have for you. Embrace change and movement, and work on your communication techniques. Conjure up a little good luck for yourself with that Mercury dime spell. Call on Athena to inspire you to try magickal arts and crafts and to be more creative in your own spellwork and witchery.

Meditate on Odin and see what you can discover about him. I wonder what sort of fabulous and fascinating magickal wisdom you will uncover? Odin is a shaman, after all; he may appear in many guises and faces. I guarantee that he will make you laugh at yourself before he is through with you, but you will learn. It’s up to you what you do with that knowledge. Will you let it shapeshift into wisdom?

Wednesday is the wild and wily day of the week, so try to go with the flow; don’t fight the quirky energies of the day. Most importantly, follow your heart, and always keep a good sense of humor, because of Wednesdays you will really need it.

Wednesday

Ruler: Wodin, Mercury

Colors: Orange, light blue, and gray

Power Hours: Sunrise and the 8th, 16th, and 24th hours following

Keywords: Success, creativity, communication

The word Wednesday is reminiscent of the Norse wind god Wodin, which is referenced in the popular rhyme verse “Wednesday’s child is full of woe.” This does not mean that those born on this day are full of sorrow or trouble. To be full of Woden (Wodin) means to be full of wind, to be spirited. Woden was such a powerful pagan god that the German church fathers changed the name of his day to Mittwoch, meaning midweek, in an attempt to exorcise his influence.

In the Spanish word for Wednesday, miercoles, we clearly see its connection to Mercury. Under the guidance of Mercury; Wednesday is a day of swift activity, communication, correspondence, and phone calls. This is a good day for journalists, writers, poets, bargaining, hiring employees, and visiting friends.

On Wednesdays, the hour of sunrise and every eight hours after that are also ruled by Mercury, making these times of the day doubly blessed. These are the strongest four hours for ritual work. Check your local newspaper, astrological calendar, or almanac to determine when sunrise occurs.

A Very Good Wednesday Morning To All Our Dear Family & Friends! Have A Very Blessed Day!!

In The Light

A Pagan Awakening

A new life is there,
You hear Her now,
She was always there,
and You’re forever changed.
So listen to Diana, and accept Her love.
Hoard not Her gifts : feeling, renewal, music.
A new life is there,
You see Him now,
He was always there,
and you’re forever changed.
So look to Apollo, and receive His light.
Hoard not His gifts : healing, growth, joy.
A new life is there,
Your hands reach it now,
It was always there,
and You’re forever changed.
So touch the earth, and partake of it’s sustenance.
Hoard not it’s gifts : body, green, silence.
A new life is there,
You soar with it now,
It was always there,
and You’re forever changed.
So breathe in the air and gather the wind.
Hoard not it’s gifts : mind, dreams, empathy.
A new life is there,
You’re warmed by it now,
It was always there,
and You’re forever changed.
So build the flame and brave it’s heat.
Hoard not it’s gifts : spirit, will, energy.
A new life is there,
You flow with it now,
It was always there,
and You’re forever changed.
So study the ocean and follow it’s tides.
Hoard not it’s gifts : self, courage, sorrow.
A new life is there,
You’re one with them now,
They were always there,
and You’re forever changed.
So take Their gifts and return them threefold.
Share this magic : friendship, love, trust.
