Today’s Tarot Card for December 4th is The Moon

The Moon

Wednesday, Dec 4th, 2013

What has traditionally been known as the Moon card refers to a deep state of sensitivity and imaginative impressionability, developed within a womb of deep relaxation. Here we dream and go into trance, have visions and receive insights, wash in and out with the psychic tides, and experience deep mystical and/or terrifying realities beyond our ordinary senses. The full moon and/or eclipse cycle charted by the Magi (as in some of the earliest Moon card images) exemplify this as a mechanism that Nature uses to expand consciousness.

The variants of the courtly lovers (representing skillful use of the sex force) or the man sleeping it off under the tree (use of drugs to alter consciousness) are also traditional avenues for tapping this primal force. Human interest in higher states propels us to the frontiers of consciousness, where we cannot always control what happens. The Moon card represents the ultimate test of a soul’s integrity, where the membrane between self and the Unknown is removed, and the drop of individuality reenters the Ocean of Being. What transpires next is between a soul and its Maker.

Daily Horoscopes for Wednesday, December 4th

We feel the need to get serious today as the Moon enters ambitious Capricorn at 1:49 am EST. Responsibility weighs heavy upon our shoulders and we have no choice but to do what’s required at this time. Although pleasure takes a back seat until we’ve taken care of current obligations, we can learn some profound lessons if we’re willing to dive deep. However, trickster Mercury flies into extroverted Sagittarius later tonight to relieve the stress.

Aries Horoscope

(Mar 21 – Apr 19)

You’re willing to work harder now because you think that your current ambitions have a better chance of being realized. But it’s not just because you are eager to put in the extra effort to accomplish more. It’s as if you’re tapping into something mysterious that adds power to everything you do. Keep in mind that fulfillment of your dreams may take longer than you wish, but believing in yourself today is certainly the first step to success.

Taurus Horoscope

(Apr 20 – May 20)

You have an extra amount of patience that you can call on today, but it’s not because you are so saintly. Actually, you know what you want now and are ready to do whatever is necessary to reach your goals. If it is advantageous for you to push extra hard, you will. But if playing the waiting game is what’s required to bring satisfaction in the long run, then that’s exactly what you’ll do. Just be sure that your dreams are worth your time and effort.

Gemini Horoscope

(May 21 – Jun 20)

You take your own plans very seriously today and you expect everyone else to do the same. However, you may not be so quick with your snappy comebacks now because you realize that you have a chance to experience something you might normally miss. Instead of relying on your clever repartee, sink into a meaningful emotional dialogue as you would a luxurious fantasy. But remember to play for keeps because this opportunity for connection is real.

Cancer Horoscope

(Jun 21 – Jul 22)

Although you might think about ways to minimize your heavy workload today, someone else may successfully convince you to reconsider your plans. Taking time to reevaluate your current motives is a good idea, but don’t get duped into doubting your ability to make the right decision. Remember, people are counting on you. Nevertheless, listening to your instincts now is smarter than solely relying on others for guidance.

Leo Horoscope

(Jul 23 – Aug 22)

You may feel a little awkward as your lighthearted spirit and playful attitude begin to fade. You aren’t necessarily looking for additional responsibilities today, yet others might be putting too many expectations on you, anyhow. However, there’s no need to waste energy worrying now since you still have some very pleasant times ahead, even if you have to tackle some less enjoyable tasks first. Take your mind off your current situation by concentrating on the rewards that are just around the next corner.

Virgo Horoscope

(Aug 23 – Sep 22)

If you are overly anxious because something seems out of whack, rest assured that a shift toward stability is now in the works. But don’t expect all your problems to just disappear since your newly discovered center of gravity brings its own intensity. Nevertheless, you should be able to enjoy yourself today, no matter what stressful situations you might face. Instead of seeking your answers in the outer world, find a peaceful place within where you can reconnect with your higher self.

Libra Horoscope

(Sep 23 – Oct 22)

You might try a stoic approach to a complex situation that involves a family member or very close friend. Even if you believe that the most intelligent strategy is to keep your emotions in check now, it may prove impossible to prevent them from showing. Ironically, it could be that expressing your feelings without editing them is exactly the catalyst that’s needed to resolve the current emotional drama. Don’t hold back; respond directly from your heart.

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

You are in a better position now with respect to harvesting the fruits of your labors. But your current success isn’t only about your career; it has just as much to do with the overall satisfaction you feel about your personal life, even if it is still far from your vision of perfection. Instead of wasting energy focusing on what is lacking, express your gratitude for every single thing that brings you happiness in the present moment.

Sagittarius Horoscope

(Nov 22 – Dec 21)

Obviously you want the good times to roll on forever, but, of course, they cannot. Thankfully, this doesn’t mean that you’re headed for troubled waters; it’s just that your over-exuberant energy needs to mellow out for a while. When you consider your recent experiences, you can’t help but realize how many wonderful blessings are present in your life, even if there are no fireworks currently lighting up the sky. Fortunately, you don’t have to wait for something major to happen; share your love with those in your life who deserve it right now.

Capricorn Horoscope

(Dec 22 – Jan 19)

An emotional interaction can wake you up today and remind you of something that you have been trying to avoid. Luckily, you don’t have to fix everything that needs changing all at once. It’s better to be a silent observer now than to push your agenda forward in a way that might not bring you any closer to happiness, anyway. Simply being more aware is sufficient to start. Letting your feelings play through as naturally as possible allows the transformation to happen on its own.

Aquarius Horoscope

(Jan 20 – Feb 18)

You might decide to go into hiding now as the reflective Moon visits your reclusive 12th House, although your need for seclusion won’t likely last long. Nevertheless, treat this urge for solitude with respect, especially if you have been a social butterfly recently. But don’t confuse your current desire for privacy with moodiness. Although creating healthy boundaries is a great way to replenish your spirit, there’s no reason to feel alone in the universe.

Pisces Horoscope

(Feb 19 – Mar 20)

You aren’t overly concerned with what you’re supposed to do in the real world today because your dreams have grown too special to set aside. It’s crucial to understand that your happiness is not dependent on acquiring more material wealth. Instead of focusing on your professional ambitions now, surround yourself with friends who encourage your spiritual growth and are willing to stand by you no matter what. Spread your wings and fly.

Mercury in Sagittarius – Expand your mind with mental Mercury in sunny Sagittarius

Mercury in Sagittarius

Expand your mind with mental Mercury in sunny Sagittarius

Tarotcom Staff     Tarotcom Staff on the topics of sagittarius, mercury, astrology

Open your mind, but hold your tongue — that’s the best advice we have when communication planet Mercury moves back into bold and sometimes reckless Sagittarius on December 4, 2013.

Mercury is a bit of wild-card in Sagittarius. That’s because Mercury is all about thoughts and words, and Sagittarius is all about action. This translates into a time when we may find ourselves speaking too soon, accidentally saying rude things, or spouting off things that aren’t true.

If you’re prone to telling tall tales or getting your facts wrong, or if you know anyone like that, it’s going to be exacerbated now. We’re all advised to try harder to think before we speak and to consider others’ feelings more. But there’s an upside to Mercury in Sagittarius, too.

Because Sagittarius is so open-minded and adventurous, our thoughts will become more expansive, too. We might start thinking about travel or going back to school or starting a new job. Sagittarius is a visionary, so our minds will wander far and wide during this time.

Make big plans for December! With Mercury in Sagittarius until December 24, it’s a great month for feeling confident, thinking positive and doing something exciting.

Daily Cosmic Calendar for December 4th

As the day begins, anxiety and stress seem to have the upper hand due to an off-kilter, 150-degree alignment taking place between Pallas in Virgo and Uranus in Aries (12:49AM). Avoid mental fatigue and exhaustion around the time of this celestial contact. Better vibrations intrude into your life thereafter — thanks to the Moon in Capricorn forming a supportive, 60-degree liaison with Neptune in Pisces (3:09AM) while the Moon parallels Mercury (3:44AM) and the Sun makes a 60-degree constructive aspect with Ceres (4:16AM). The Moon-Neptune connection stimulates your psychic sensitivity and creative imagination while the other two aspects can give your correspondence a noticeable lift and enhance your productivity across the board.  Think of bold ways to promote your worldly stature as the Moon makes it monthly conjunction with distant Pluto (3:20PM). Tuning into your spiritual willpower and mental concentration — with an absence of egocentric, know-it-all pride — is one good way of working positively with energy coming from the key planet that rules the unconscious realms of humanity’s intelligence.  The enthusiastic vibes of Sagittarius gain a new cheerleader as Mercury enters this sign (6:43PM) until December 24. Maintain your thinking, attitudes and five senses operating on the highest levels of fortitude and ingenuity. [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Standard Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]

With his silver brushes, the giver of Death
In the most beautiful and painless way.
Hail to you who are found in many places,
Many stories, many tales, many rites
Around the world, and whose gifts pile up
Around the great Tree where you ride.
Gift-giver, you found the maiden in the snow
And near froze her with your testing,
Yet when she awoke there was fire, and riches
All around her. You smote the ungenerous
And the greedy, for in your world
No one refuses to share. That is the First Law
O f Survival. Share what you have,
Be it fire, food, drink, comradeship,
A warm cloak against the winds,
A warm body against the cold.
Let each day be a gift-giving, you say,
For if all gifts wait until the longest night
We will all be cold indeed.
Hail to you, Father of Winter,
And may you teach us generosity with your knowing smile.

(All bring gifts from the altar and give them to each other, saying why the gift was given, and blessing each person present.)

Crescent Moon

(waxing/4% of Full)

The issue of values enters into the equation and an urge to tie together the data available so that you can utilize current opportunities. There is still plenty of forward motion, and this is a great time to continue initiating and progressing forward. This Moon phase favors gaining more information and the input of others to further your plans.

Today’s Goddess for December 4th – Kali, The Black One

Goddess Comments & Graphics
Kali, The Black One

“O Dark Primordial Mother!
Thou gives birth to and protects the universes
and at the time of dissolution
does withdraw to Thyself
this world and all beings.” (Karpuradi Stotra)

Kali (“the black one”) is the Hindu mother goddess, symbol of dissolution and destruction. She destroys ignorance, maintains the world order, and blesses and frees those who strive for the knowledge of God. In the Vedas, the name is associated with Agni, the god of fire, who had seven flickering tongues of flame, of which Kali is seen as the black, horrible tongue. This meaning of the word has meanwhile been replaced by the goddess Kali, the grim consort of Shiva. Her appearance is fearsome: baleful eyes, a protruding tongue, and four arms. In Her upper left hand She wields a bloody sword and in Her lower left hand She holds the severed head of a demon. With Her upper right hand She makes the gesture of fearlessness, while the lower right hand confers benefits. Draped around Her is a chain of severed human heads and She wears a belt made of dismembered arms. As the Divine Mother, She is often represented dancing or in sexual union with Shiva. As Bhavatarini, the redeemer of the universe, She stands upon the supine form of Her spouse.

She is also known as Kalikamata (“black earth-mother”) and Kalaratri (“black night”). Among the Tamils She is known as Kottavei. Kali is worshipped particularly in Bengal. Her best known temples are in Kalighat and Dakshineshvara.

Variations on the name Kali for female divinity can be found in many ancient cultures outside India, which suggests that in the distant past a common or related matriarchal religion pervaded much of the world. For example, in pre-historic Ireland people worshipped a powerful goddess known as Kele (Her priestesses were known as Kelles), in ancient Finland there was the all-powerful Goddess Kal-ma, in the Sinai region of the Middle East there was the Goddess Kalu, and in ancient Greece an aspect of the Goddess was known as Kalli. It is likely that these very similar names for the Great Goddess in different cultures was the result of the export of spiritual ideas and practices “out of India” by early invasions.

Today is Wednesday, Woden’s Day

Today is Woden’s Day

“Wodanesdag” (Germanic)
“Wodensdag” (Old English)
“Othinnsdagr” ( Old Norse)
“Onsdag” (Danish)
“Wednesday” (English)

Odin/Woden is the Norse God of magic, battle fury, protection, inspiration, shaman ecstasy, consciousness and communication.

If men can accept their female side as Odin/Woden did, women can surely accept their male side. This day is the “hump day” or “half past the week day.” It is a day of balancing physically, mentally and spiritually.

You can accept Odin/Woden as the All-father and the Omnipotent God when you realize that he became more balanced by accepting the intuitiveness, emotions, sensitivity and the wisdom of women. He also considered Frija/Frigg as his equal and consulted her on all important matters. Her advise always weighed heavily in his decisions. Women in Norse mythology, although not as much is written about them as men, were considered equal with men in property, warring, and decisions. Romanization (getting conquered by the Romans) changed the status of women later on. We are still healing from the effects of the Romanization!

The Rune of choice for this day is Ethel (OE), Othala (G), or Othal (ON). This Rune represents the hearth, the home, justice and honoring our ancestors.

Wednesday’s vibration adds power to rituals involving inspiration, communications, writers, poets, the written and spoken word, and all matters of study, learning, and teaching. This day also provides a good time to begin efforts involving self-improvement or understanding.

Winter Comments & Graphics
“The Mother’s Prayer”

“Our Mother, whose body is the Earth,
Sacred is thy being.
Thy garden grow.
Thy will be done in our cities, as it is in nature.
Thanks be this day for food, and air, and water.
Forgive us our sins against Earth, as we are learning to forgive one
another.
And surrender us not unto extinction, but deliver us from our folly.
For thine is the beauty, and the power, and all life, from birth to
death, from beginning to end, forever.
Amen.
So be it,
Blessed be.”

A Blessed Wednesday Morning, My Dear Family! Brrr, It’s Going To Get Cold!

Winter Comments & Graphics
If you are not already in the grips of the wonder of Winter, I am sure you will soon be. I was watching this morning’s weather and it looks like we are going to be an icy mess. The last icy mess we were forecasted, our power was out for 11 long days and nights. The army came through providing “Ready To Eat” meals for everyone. We had ice everywhere. You could listen in the silence of winter and hear trees and their limbs fall. It would sound like shotguns going off. Due to this wonderful memories and a little voice eating at me ( I don’t ignore this little voice), we are going to cut today’s publication short. We have LP tanks to fill and kerosene together. The LP tanks provide us with heat and a way to cook. The kerosene provides us with light during the darkness. Since it is so warm today, (70 degrees) now is the perfect time to prepare.

Also in case the unthinkable happens and you don’t hear from us for several days, don’t worry we have just became Winter Witches. In other words, the power lines have snapped and we will be back as soon as they restore our lines. Keep us in your prayers that we don’t have to relive our past.

I hope you have a wonderful day. If you are in Winter’s fury, stay inside, stay warm and stay safe. If not, count your blessings!

Love & Hugs,

Lady A

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’ for December 3rd

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’
By Joyce Sequichie Hifler

Before we can share with others, we must have something to share. And all of us do have something to give. Not material things, but we can share our peace and our love and our loyalty.

Before we can share with others, there must be others with whom to share. For if we are selfish and self-centered enough, we will never have to worry about sharing anything. We will be alone.

Before we can expect others to share with us, we must be capable of accepting. We must be worthy of others who desire to share with us; we must deserve their love.

Before the two of us can ever find anything in this world of mutual interest, we must have enough concern and enough love to feel a need within to produce something good enough to offer; not only to others, but to ourselves. If we have abused our own nature with thoughts of bitterness, harboring painful experiences, self-condemnation for little progress regardless of circumstances, then we have nothing to offer.

The French philosopher Achilles Poincelot once said, “Some people think that all the world should share their misfortunes, though they do not share in the sufferings of anyone else.”

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – December 3

“Listen to the howl of our spiritual brother, the wolf, for how it goes with him, so it goes for the natural world.”

–Oren R. Lyons, Spokesman, Traditional Circle of Elders

If we watch nature, we can tell a lot about what is going on in the world. The animals and the plants are great teachers. Some time ago, crops were sprayed with a poison to kill the insects. Other animals ate the insects. The small animals were eaten by the Eagles and the Wolves. We live in an interconnected system. What we do to one, we do to all. If our spiritual brothers are living in balance, chances are we humans are also living in balance.

Great Spirit, let me listen to my Earth teachers, the plants and the animals.

December 3 – Daily Feast

December 3 – Daily Feast

Much has grieved us, we cannot deny it. Strong as we are, believing as we do, we are still grieved, and we must overcome it. To stop grieving does not mean we no longer care, but that we cannot let this emotion consume us when we need a steady hand and a firm step. It will creep back in unlikely moments to make us cry but time will replace the pain with happy memories. Once we have a flicker of light we can know that grieving is at an end. It can no longer take our whole thought because we have things to do, places to go, and a life to live. This is the time.

~ He orders all things, and He has given us a fine day. ~

Daily Motivator for December 3rd – Choose a positive response

Choose a positive response

No matter what happens, you can respond in whatever way you choose. So make  your response the most positive one for every person it affects.

There’s nothing to be gained by adding more negativity on top of negativity.  You have the opportunity to break the pattern.

Instead of responding to anger with more anger, challenge yourself to respond  with understanding and compassion. When you’re tempted to respond with  frustration, make the more positive choice to respond with patience.

For your world to be a more positive place, you must take responsibility for  putting more positive energy into it. Though a positive response may be the more  difficult one, it is also the more valuable choice in the long run.

Rather than choosing a response based on what has happened, choose your  response based on the direction you wish to go. Even when life has let you down,  your best choice is a positive response that creates a more positive future.

Each response to life is an opportunity to make progress. Choose a positive  response, again and again, and create a much more positive world.

Daily OM for December 3rd – Keeping Our Minds Supple

Keeping Our Minds Supple
Questioning Everything

by Madisyn Taylor

Being open-minded means that we are willing to question everything, including those things we take for granted.

A lot of people feel threatened if they feel they are being asked to question their cherished beliefs or their perception of reality. Yet questioning is what keeps our minds supple and strong. Simply settling on one way of seeing things and refusing to be open to other possibilities makes the mind rigid and generally creates a restrictive and uncomfortable atmosphere. We all know someone who refuses to budge on one or more issues, and we may have our own sacred cows that could use a little prodding. Being open-minded means that we are willing to question everything, including those things we take for granted.

A willingness to question everything, even things we are sure we are right about, can shake us out of complacency and reinvigorate our minds, opening us up to understanding people and perspectives that were alien to us before. This alone is good reason to remain inquisitive, no matter how much experience we have or how old we get. In the Zen tradition, this willingness to question is known as beginner’s mind, and it has a way of generating possibilities we couldn’t have seen from the point of view of knowing something with certainty. The willingness to question everything doesn’t necessarily mean we don’t believe in anything at all, and it doesn’t mean we have to question every single thing in the world every minute of the day. It just means that we are humble enough to acknowledge how little we actually know about the mysterious universe we call home.

Nearly every revolutionary change in the history of human progress came about because someone questioned some time-honored belief or tradition and in doing so revealed a new truth, a new way of doing things, or a new standard for ethical and moral behavior. Just so, a commitment to staying open and inquisitive in our own individual lives can lead us to new personal revolutions and truths, truths that we will hopefully, for the sake of our growth, remain open to questioning.
