Gardening Moon Calendar – October 2024

October 2024 – Gardening by the Moon, Biodynamic Planting Guide

Please read this first:

1) Moon Phase x Moon Zodiac Sign:

Please keep in mind, that Gardening by Moon Phase and Gardening by Moon Zodiac Sign are two different/independent biodynamic systems and they might give you different or contradictiory gardening recommendations.

  • a) Each Moon Phase (except Full Moon and New Moon) lasts about 1 week
  • b) Each Moon Zodiac Sign lasts about 2.5 days

Try to experiment with these two systems to find which recommendations suits you the most.

2) Tropical (Astrological) x Sidereal (Astronomical) Zodiac:
(1-2 days difference in Leaf, Fruit, Root and Flower days)

There are two different zodiacs for determining the Moon Sign:

  • a) Tropical zodiac (Astrological) is based on the seasons – Vernal Equinox is fixed as 0° Aries (The 1st Fruit day)
  • b) Sidereal zodiac (Astronomical) takes into account Precession of Equinoxes and shifts 0° Aries back by cca 1-2 days. Maria Thun who was an authority on biodynamics was using this Sidereal zodiac

Try to experiment also with these two zodiac systems to find which system suits you better.

October 2024 Moon Details

The Full Moon for this month will occur on Thursday, October 17th. The New Moon is earlier in the month on Wednesday, October 2nd.

The October Hunter’s Moon

October’s full moon is commonly called the Hunter’s Moon, harkening back to European and Native American traditions where hunters would use the light of the full moon to track down their prey and stock up for the coming winter. Contrary to popular belief, the Hunter’s Moon isn’t actually bigger or brighter than usual. It simply rises earlier, soon after sunset, which would give hunters plenty of bright moonlight to hunt by during the early evenings. To Neo Pagans, however, the Hunter’s Moon is known by a far more morbid name – the Blood Moon.

Humans through the ages have always found autumn’s full moons to be creepy, and not without good reason. There’s a reason why English folks in the Middle Ages called October’s full moon the Blood Moon, and it’s the exact same reason why even Halloween imagery today often features a large, low-hanging moon with an eerie reddish glow. The Hunter’s Moon rises early in the evening, which means that you are more likely to see it near the horizon. When you observe the moon while it’s near the horizon, it gives off the illusion of being bigger while it’s in fact the same size. In addition, observing the moon at the horizon makes it look redder. This is because you’re seeing it through a thicker atmosphere, which scatters more blue light and lets more red light pass through to reach your eyes.

Scientific explanations aside, the Hunter’s Moon or Blood Moon still holds an undeniable aura of mystique and power. As October’s full moon occurs right before Samhain, the Gaelic mid-autumn festival that has evolved into Halloween today, Neo Pagans consider the month of the Blood Moon to be a special time denoting the change of seasons and a prime opportunity to contact dead loved ones, given the thinning of the veil between the physical world and the spiritual world. Precious stones such as amethyst are used to ward off evil, and sacred flowers like chrysanthemum are used when working with spirits, such as in rituals to commune with long-dead ancestors.

Despite the Blood Moon’s spooky associations, it rarely actually happens on Samhain or Halloween night itself. The next time you’ll get to see the full moon on Halloween is 2020, and if you miss that, you’ll have to wait 15 years to see it in 2035. Sometimes, October’s full moon even happens early enough in the month that it becomes the Harvest Moon, which is defined as the full moon that’s closest to the fall equinox. In Chinese culture, the Harvest Moon is celebrated during the Mid-Autumn Festival, where people gather to celebrate by eating mooncakes. There is also a harvest festival in India that celebrates October’s full moon, called Sharad Purnima. Devotees fast all day before offering delicacies to the Moon God under the moonlight.

In contrast to the day-long fast of India’s moonlight festival, the Hunter’s Moon was a very important feast day in Europe as well as for many Native American tribes. Appropriately, the Ponca tribe’s name for the Hunter’s Moon is “the moon when they store food in caches”. Taking advantage of the fact that the fields have been reaped, hunters would capture foxes and other small animals who come out to graze on the fallen grains, as well as hunt down deer in the moonlight. They would butcher their prey and preserve their meat. Blood Moon is an excellent name for this month’s full moon, given that it was a final, bloody harvesting of meat before the winter months.

Sadly, the tradition of feasting during the Hunter’s Moon was lost around the year 1700, but its spirit still lives on in historical reenactments like the Feast of the Hunter’s Moon, or even the feast of candy enjoyed by trick-or-treaters everywhere on Halloween.

Water Witches c. 2018

Water Witches

Most people are familiar with sea witches and sea witchcraft. It seems as if, like the village witch, the sea witch has been recognized as a solitary powerful path by the general community. Of course sea witchcraft is not limited to solitary practitioners, as I know of a few sea witch covens around the globe, but often times sea witches are inclined to carve their own path, similar to the way a river might carve it’s own path through stones. Water witches, like the Sea Witch, are drawn to the water. Water witches are drawn not only to the ocean, but they feel and must answer the call of river water, lake water, canals and even the rain. Like the sea, these bodies of water are seductresses. They pull at our heart strings and torture our spirit; pining and raging like an ocean in a storm. I have heard whispers of those that say they have Mermaid or Selkie blood and also of those that have had past lives as such creatures; perhaps they are true and perhaps it is just the seduction of the mysterious waters. What is known, is that the water calls to us, it pulls us in and we feel empty and lost with out it.

A water witch is simply one that works witchcraft with water. Over the years I have found some that are skeptical, and others that deeply understand my words. It is very interesting that Sea Witches seem to be accepted by the pagan world, but Water Witches are not. However, with the recent publishing of Whist Waters by Gemma Gary, it seems as if the Witchcraft community is finally interested in accepting Water Witchcraft as well. It makes sense; water is everywhere. It is not just the ocean or large lakes, it is the rain, the swamps, large rivers and seasonal streams etc. Water is essential to our life; we cannot go without water for longer than a few days without death. Our bodies are made up of a considerable portion of water. We know from Dr Masaru Emoto’s work with water (which I will discuss below) that even the slightest word can create a change in water, and how that word is spoken influences the outcome of that change. When we put these thoughts about water and change together with the definition of magic…

Magic is…

“the science and art of causing Change to occur in conformity with will”
~Aleister Crowley~

“the art of changing consciousness in accordance with will”
~Doreen Valiente~

We end up with a very clear picture of how powerful water magic can be. In short, since we know that words and intent influence the structure of a water molecule and that magic is change according to will and will and intent are almost synonymous then we have a basic formula for Water magic. Intent + water = a visual change. In a way, we can even see the magic take place!

When we look at Water Magic as a practice, utilizing it in either small (rain, wells, etc) or large quantities (lakes, ocean etc), it is very clear that chanting, spells, incantations, sigils, and many more magical practices can be incorporated and the result is incredibly powerful. For hundreds of years Holy Wells have been revered for their powers of both cursing and healing. Such bodies of water include the famous hot springs at Bath. The hot baths, shrines and a temple dedicated to Sulis, the Goddess that presides over the hot springs, are known to heal, but are also known for its curse tablets, where over 300 were found. Many bodies of water like the Glastonbury red and white wells contain their own properties which are enhanced by the calcium and iron deposits. For hundreds of years Clootie have been hung over sacred wells in the UK. This was practiced widely from Wales to Scottland and still is today. The famous Mother Shipton, witch and oracle, lived by a sacred spring and can still be visited today. Not suprisingly her name is Ursula Southeil (interesting connection to Disney’s little mermaid!) As you can see both Folklore and Science support the idea of water magic.

Water Witchcraft, as I stated before, is very similar to Sea Magic and Sea Witchcraft. Sea Witches usually stick to the sea shore, however water witches will be found just about everywhere. Near lakes, rivers, holy wells etc. Tools are usually gathered from the shoreline and oftentimes shells, driftwood, and plants are their tools of choice. Water Witches will most often blend Sea magic with their craft. Focusing on tides, moon cycles, and so much more. Since there is no specific Water Tradition (with one exception) you will find that most sea/water witches practice very differently. Some incorporate water and sea spirits, fae or deity into their practice, while others believe that there is no religion associated with their practice at all. These topics are very popular in the pagan community and chat boards, and though they do influence water/sea magic, they are not a topic I am going to discuss here and for one very simple reason; No one will ever agree! Water witches will also find that they differ in their beliefs, the one thing that binds us together is Water in her many forms. For me, a Water witch’s practice can be defined by Magic that is focused around water, water creatures living and dead, spirits that are associated with water, and if one wishes Goddess and Gods associated with Water.

** The one exception in tradition I mention above is The Water Witches in the UK. There is very limited information on them however. They are part of a group of people that were very much like gypsies, but their homes were floating barges. There is no particular tradition and with limited information it is hard to say how they practiced. However what we do know is they were wandering people of the industrial revolution that lived on the water canals in the UK. Many people still live this way today, but I am not sure if they exist in the same manner. I call this a tradition because it was a group of people that practiced for years in a similar way, and many were family. You can read about my own adventures on these mysterious canals here.

There are many different types of water; fresh water lakes and the ocean are not the only types and many hold as much power and mystery such as the muddy waters of the Uk Canals, sacred wells, and swamps. Many sea witches work with brackish water and so do water witches. There is so much magic in the brackish waters of the Calvert cliffs. Large Megolodon teeth can be found on the shores, and stingrays swim circles in the early morning on the calm glassy surface of the pale blue and gold water with the sun rising in the east. The shores are full of healing and death, with yarrow growing among the poison hemlock on the banks of the shore speaking of balance and bane. Large predators once roamed the waters and the stings of the jellyfish are fierce. Oh how glorious to watch the storm come across the waters…

Swamp water is also full of mystery and poison. Toads, snakes and spiders lurk with in the grooves of a hollowed cypress tree, tall nubs of the cypress trees roots peek above the surface of the waters. Swamp waters can be found all over the world. Most commonly known would be the Florida Everglades and the Bayou of Louisiana. Any type of magic you can imagine can be practiced in this type of water, from natural magic to voodoo. However I will say, I do not think that ceremonial magic would be suited for this type of environment

Lakes and Fountains hold so much mystery and mythology. The Lady of the lake has to be the most famous account of water magic taking place in a lake. There are several tales of Ladies of the Fountain and Lake Ladies and their magical gardens, healing powers, and bargains.

Rain, Snow, Hail and storm energy in general is very interesting to work with as well. I personally collect water everywhere I go. Often times I label and date it with what type of storm it was. As you can imagine, a summer sun shower would be beautiful warm energy, and hail and a lightning storm pack a VERY powerful punch and can be incorporated into magical workings that need the extra push or used to curse. There is nothing like sitting on the banks of a large body of water, watching a terrible storm roll in. Many water witches enjoy this type of weather, and pull energy from the storm as well as send spells out and let the roaring winds and waters weave the magic.

Types of water you can work with include, sea, brackish, lakes, rivers, distilled, hydrosol, swamps, snow, hail, rain, ponds, canals, seasonal creeks, sacred wells and other bodies of water. Really there is no limit to how you can use water magic! I find that Water Witches are attracted to bottles, bowls, and other vessels. They are often found beach combing or searching the banks of rivers and lakes. Many I have spoken with are drawn to some sort of mythological water spirit or creature such as Mermaids, Selkie, and Lake Ladies. Many love to swim, boat, and are often found in the bath. Interestingly, astrological charts seem to indicate a strong lean towards water, often times having a Water rising sign as well as a Watery moon. However this is not a hard fast rule and it does vary. Often times, Water witches are very good at water scrying, divination with shells or bones found along the shoreline. Almost every Sea/Water witch I have met is a bit of a magpie and will collect shells, wood, glass etc from the water and create shrines or water based altars. Many work with tea, sacred baths, healing waters, holy wells, hydrosols, and water based sprays. I will blog more about how to work with different bodies of water and how to work with them in the future.

Spell For Tuesday – Sun Stone Physical Energy

(YOU CAN COPY AND PASTE ANY SPELLS POSTED TO A DOCUMENT TO PRINT AND/OR SAVE ON YOUR COMPUTER FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY)

Sun Stone Physical Energy

You will need the following items for this spell:

Sun stone

Casting Instructions

Take a piece of sunstone to an eastern windowsill at sunrise

alternatively, place the stone outside in the East where it can absorb

the rays of the morning Sun. Offer the stone to the Sun and chant:

 “Flaming Orb of rising power

Add vital energy hour by hour

To this stone with flecks of gold

Give it Your power, great and bold,

And when the light of day is through

And with your zest this stone is imbued, It shall come back home to me

To impart Your zestful energy.”

Leave the stone absorb the energy of the rising Sun, but don’t retrieve it until sundown this gives the energy time to ‘settle’ in the stone. Carry the sunstone with you.

2 October 2024 Current Moon Phase and Planetary Positions for the Southern Hemisphere

The current moon phase for October 2nd, 2024 is the New Moon phase.

On this day, the moon is -0.69 days old and 0.19% illuminated with a tilt of -22.971°. The approximate distance from Earth to the moon is 406,417.23 km and the moon sign is Libra.

The Moon phase for October 2nd, 2024 is the New Moon phase. In this phase, the moon is positioned between the Sun and Earth and is 0% illuminated (i.e the moon is not visible to us in the sky).

Due to the alignment of the Sun, the Moon and Earth, the side of the moon that faces Earth is left in complete darkness. In technical terms this is referred to as a conjunction or Syzygy.

Also, during the New Moon phase, the moon rises and sets at around the same time as the Sun. This brings to the moon too close to the glare of the Sun for us to see the moon with the naked eye.

Fun fact: The moon can’t emit its own light, it can only reflect the light from the Sun’s rays. Since there is no sunlight during the New Moon phase there is nothing to reflect, so the moon becomes completely dark and unable to be seen in the sky.

October 1, 2024 Current Moon Phase and Planetary Positions for the Northern Hemispheres

Source: nineplanets.org

The current moon phase for October 1st, 2024 is the Waning Crescent phase.

On this day, the moon is 28.03 days old and 1.97% illuminated with a tilt of -20.199°. The approximate distance from Earth to the moon is 405,727.10 km and the moon sign is Virgo.

The Moon phase for October 1st, 2024 is a Waning Crescent phase. This is the phase where the moon is less than 50% illuminated but has not yet reached 0% illumination (which would be a New Moon).

In this part of the moon cycle, it is getting closer and closer to the Sun as viewed from Earth and the night side of the Moon is facing earth with a decreasingly thin crescent being illuminated.

The waning (shrinking) crescement Moon will rise at around midnight, transit the meridian after sunrise, before setting after noon. This phase is best viewed 1-2 hours before sunrise and is a great time to see the features of the Moon’s surface. Along the illuminated crescent you can see the craters and mountains of the moon casting long shadows.

The Waxing Gibbous phase, like all moon phases, will last for just over 7 days. The actual length will vary because of the elliptical shaped orbit of the moon. During this Waxing Gibbous phase the moon will rise in the east in the mid- to late-afternoon and will be high in the eastern sky at sunset.

Assuming it’s a clear night, the Waxing Gibbous moon will then be visible through most of the night before setting just before sunrise.

Fun fact: the illuminated side of a waning crescent moon is always pointed eastwards, towards the sunrise.

Moon Alert

Avoid shopping or important decisions from 5 PM to 6:45 PM EDT today (2 PM to 3:45 PM PDT). After that, the Moon moves from Virgo into Libra.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Be clear with financial matters today at work, or with anything related to your health or a pet. This is because something unexpected might occur, in addition to which, an element of confusion might obscure what is really going on. Stay on top of things. Things are moving fast and no one is 100% sure what’s happening. Factoid.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Romance might disappoint today. It might also surprise you! However, make sure you really understand what’s happening because confusion is likely. Meanwhile parents should be vigilant with their children today, especially regarding poisons and bad food. Keep your eyes open.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

This is a poor day for important family discussions, especially with parents because the wrong assumptions plus confused facts could create problems. Someone might even lie or stretch the truth to avoid embarrassment. Stock the fridge because something unexpected might happen.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Don’t believe everything you hear today because issues are confusing, even deceptive. Meanwhile, pay attention to everything you say and do because this is a mildly accident-prone day for you. However, on the upside, you might have meet someone new or have a clever idea!

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Double check everything related to financial matters, cash, and even your possessions because something confusing is present today. (Someone might also be fast and loose with the truth?) In addition, unexpected events might suddenly occur that impact your assets. (Yikes!)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Today you might be obsessed with something. Your freedom and independence will also matter to you. Basically, you might feel restless. Be careful and pay attention to avoid accidents. Meanwhile, conversations with friends and partners are confusing and possibly, disappointing. Stay chill.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

This is a restless day. You might feel listless, confused or lacking in motivation and direction. (Don’t worry because many people feel this way today.) Pay attention to banking details and anything related to the wealth and resources of someone else because a surprise might catch you off guard.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Don’t jump to conclusions when talking to a friend today (or perhaps a group) because confusion is rampant. Misunderstandings or hasty assumptions might occur. In turn, this could lead to needless disappointments. Possibly, a friend or partner will surprise you? Steady as she goes.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Don’t jump to conclusions when dealing with parents, bosses and authority figures today, including the police. Confusion and misunderstandings are likely, therefore guard against knee-jerk reactions. Furthermore, something out of the blue, related to your health or your job might occur. Tricky!

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Pay attention to everything you say and do today because this is an accident-prone day for you. In addition, conversations with others, plus media information, might be confusing or misleading. Parents should be extra vigilant because this is an accident-prone day for their kids as well.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Keep an eye on your money and your possessions today because something unexpected might impact them. You might find money; you might lose money. Protect what you own against loss, theft or damage. Be leery of financial advice because someone might deceive you either on purpose or accidentally. (Yikes!)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Be tolerant and patient dealing with partners and close friends today because confused communications could lead to disappointment. You might not have all the facts? Or the facts that you have might be wrong? Meanwhile, this is a mildly accident-prone day so pay attention to everything you say and do. Above all, cut others some slack.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Actress Brie Larsen (1989) shares your birthday today. You are flirtatious, passionate and modest. You are also intelligent, capable and dedicated. This year is the beginning of a new nine-year cycle for you. Expect new adventures and major changes in your life. Prepare for a leadership role. Take the initiative and define your goals.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

It seems that there are a lot of things around you, from small details, apparent coincidences that are happening to the way certain people have started behaving around you that point towards you being in need to put some order in some of your life aspects.

Don’t let yourself distracted or be happy with just half of the glass full.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

It seems that the current disposition is prompting you towards new ways to increase your income but you will have to be very careful in return to really seize which is a good opportunity and which not.

Of course some things will be too good to be true while others might seem unfruitful but will in turn hide interesting rewards.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

You need to put your mind in a different light and try something new before you want to be able to express yourself about that something, whether you are an artist or work in a highly scientific domain.

This day requires for you to be practical, to touch things, to feel them with your own hands and think them with your own mind before anything else.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

It seems that the current disposition is trying to remind you what you might have lost in the past in a situation, either triggered by you or by someone close to you.

Whether you are feeling the same way as you did back then or things have changed and you moved past that, it will be interesting to see how you tackle that.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

It seems that this Tuesday is set to teach you a lesson or two about being secretive and about not reacting properly to what is going on around you.

There might be some changes around or just some small transformations that you will have to react to and maybe your first answer will be to hide from them, something not advisable in the current context.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Some financial opportunities ahead for those with a taste for risk but just minor improvements for the ones who like to play it safe.

However, seeing things move finally will probably put things in a different context for everyone and you will feel a lot more motivated to do something. Some do risk being distracted by things around.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

The current disposition seems to grow new feelings around you and to show you all nurturing and caring for a person you might have just met.

This is interesting to follow as looking at it from afar, there are two main outcomes, you either build up something more in this relationship or you get extremely disappointed, something you won’t be able to sweat off easily.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You are trying to stay away from temptation, actively I’d say but it doesn’t really work out that well when there are so many resources lying out there for you.

What would be a good thing to do is count more on your intuition and imagination rather than imposing stuff on yourself. You have means to be efficient and don’t need to force them.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Try to be in contact with yourself this Tuesday because this will probably help clarify a lot of misunderstandings in your life.

Whether you have been looking for answers all wrong or you have been so stuck in the matter that you haven’t even searched for answers yet, you will see that a bit of introspection might show up some ideas.

You can also read this special Sagittarius Daily Horoscope.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You seem to be expecting feedback, whether it is something you are doing consciously or not. You want opinions about what you are doing but maybe you are not yet all that prepared to accept them as they come.

Although you feel at the moment you might find better courage if someone is supporting you, all you need should come from inside.

You can also read this special Capricorn Daily Horoscope.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

You appear to be quite needy this Tuesday and somehow fixated on your plans no matter what is happening around you.

This means that your main tendency will be to ignore the wants of those around you and to be fully demanding of them. You might even be put to make some decisions but you’ll only look at your own side.

You can also read this special Aquarius Daily Horoscope.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

You are not anymore willing to overlook certain aspects in a matter that has been going on for a while now and things are going to become increasingly tense, especially if you don’t let go.

Although you might be right, maybe this is not the time to speak out, maybe you’ve waited too long or maybe you don’t have enough arguments at the moment.

Witchcraft Acts

In England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland there has historically been a succession of Witchcraft Acts governing witchcraft and providing penalties for its practice, or—in later years—rather for pretending to practise it.

Mondays are ruled by the moon and the divine feminine energy that this celestial body is associated with. The cycle of the moon has long been associated with the menstrual cycle. Therefor it is an excellent planet to work with for fertility, transformation, and change.

The moon rules the realm of the subconscious. This is where we access our emotions, our intuition, our psychic gifts. You would do well to perform divination or shadow work on this day.

The Moon’s current phase for today and tonight is a Waning Crescent phase. This phase is best viewed just before the sunrise in the western sky. In this phase the Moon’s illumination is growing smaller each day until the New Moon. During this part of the Moon cycle, the Moon is getting closer to the Sun as viewed from Earth and the night side of the Moon is facing the Earth with only a small edge of the Moon being illuminated. It can also be a great time to see the features of the Moon’s surface. Along the edge where the illuminated portion meets the dark side, the craters and mountains cast long shadows making them easier to observe with a telescope or binoculars.

Visit the September 2024 Moon Phases Calendar to see all the daily moon phase for this month.

Today’s Waning Crescent Phase

The Waning Crescent on September 30 has an illumination of 5%. This is the percentage of the Moon illuminated by the Sun. The illumination is constantly changing and can vary up to 10% a day. On September 30 the Moon is 27.49 days old. This refers to how many days it has been since the last New Moon. It takes 29.53 days for the Moon to orbit the Earth and go through the lunar cycle of all 8 Moon phases.

Moon Alert

There are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions today. The Moon is in Virgo.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

You have strong energy to start your week! In particular, discussions with partners, close friends and members of the general public will be vigourous. This is a great day to reorganize things at home or make home improvements. (Don’t waste this day.)

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

You can make headway in a number of areas today, in part because your communications with others will be vigourous and concise. This is a strong day to deal with children as well as creative projects. At work, you will be clear and to the point! (“Can you hear me now?”)

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Today is a playful day; nevertheless, you’re serious about financial matters and ways to earn money. Discussions with family members (perhaps a female) might concern finances. Don’t be discouraged by someone’s negativity. Meanwhile, accept invitations to socialize! Enjoy sports and fun times with kids.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Today you have the energy to work and go after what you want because the Moon is dancing with fiery Mars in your sign. Family discussions will be energetic, especially with a parent. Steer clear of controversial subjects, at least for today. It’s a work hard/party hard day!

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Today you’re speaking with vigour and making a strong impression on others. You know what you want to get done. and you’re alert and mentally sharp! Trust your moneymaking ideas even though someone older (or a financial expert) might discourage you. Short trips will please.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Today the Moon is in your sign dancing with Mars, which gives you strong emotional and physical health. Keep your eyes open for ways to improve your home or get richer. You will also be powerful in financial discussions, especially because group dynamics will be supportive to you.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Today the Sun is lined up with Mercury in your sign, which makes you an effective communicator. You’ll be keen to talk to many people. You will also be interested in initiating and starting things. This is a strong way to begin your week because you’re motivated to get things done!

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

When dealing with friends, groups and organizations, you might take on a leadership role today or steer things in a new direction. Be patient with kids today. Likewise, be patient with romantic partners. (This is a great day to shop for wardrobe items for yourself.)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Do be aware that some people might know details about your private life today (in case you have to do some damage control). Meanwhile, others might see you as aggressive or bossy. (Really?) Certainly, you’re not afraid to take charge, which is why you’ll be confident and direct talking to groups and friends.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You’re high viz. today! People notice that you’re willing to speak up and state your opinions. You’ll be strong when talking to partners and close friends as well. No surprisingly, you can expect opposition when it comes to controversial subjects. Easy does it.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Disputes about financial matters, shared responsibilities, inheritances and shared property might arise today. If so, you’re in an advantageous position because you are strong, compelling and yet, diplomatic. (You will probably get what you want.) You will also work hard to improve your home and your job.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Be prepared to be conciliatory when dealing with others today, especially because a partner or close friend might be feisty and opinionated! Nevertheless, you have strong opinions as well, especially if you’re discussing shared property or shared responsibilities. Meanwhile, travel for pleasure appeals!

If Your Birthday Is Today

Actress Fran Drescher (1957) shares your birthday today. You are charming, insightful and knowledgeable. You will fight to reveal the truth about injustice. This is a slower paced, laid-back year. Take time to rejuvenate yourself. Focus on your needs and partnerships. Make sure you are with people who have your best interests at heart.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

There are certain tensions around you and although they might not be directed towards you, the likelihood is that you will feel their influence plenty.

You are also going through quite a sensual period so why not mix the two and aim at discovering new territories in your mind and new forces rather than dramatize all.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Your love live is going to be quite challenging this Monday as it seems there are things you want to do but your partner might not be that eager to give you a green light for that.

Whether we are talking about couple ambitions or things that you want to do on your own, make sure you have a real agreement before anything.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

There might be some butterflies in your stomach that might be pushing you towards a certain person but maybe you shouldn’t let them act up entirely because who knows if they are right or wrong.

Maybe you miss enthusiasm and adrenaline but this is no reason to act up. Try especially not to complicate anyone’s lives but yours.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

You might want to position yourself differently this Monday as it seems that although you are feeling free and unrestricted, there might be some boundaries you really don’t want to go past.

No matter how enthusiastic or confident in your goals you will be, there are some things which won’t be tolerated, regardless of how you try to wrap them.

You can also read this special Cancer Daily Horoscope.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

The current disposition seems to put a difficult to manage temptation in your hand and you might be prone to leave some of your responsibilities aside and maybe try and chase some sort of dream.

Whether it is related to personal life, especially love or just something you dream about doing in general, be careful what you give up for it.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You are going to show yourself quite stubborn, I would dare to say revolted this Monday.

But while some natives might have a reason or two to behave like this, there are others who surely don’t try to protect anything or stand by a real goal and they are only acting up to get extra attention. Which group are you in?

You can also read this special Virgo Daily Horoscope.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You seem to have adopted this attitude as if there are things others should do for you and it might do you more harm than good if you continue to behave like this.

You need to be harmonious in your interactions with people and not to let such views revealed. At the same time, the more cheerful you are, the more friends will be around you.

You can also read this special Libra Daily Horoscope.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You are trying to express exactly how unique you think you are but all you do is end up stuck because you don’t really seem to acknowledge what exactly makes those around you tick.

You are being preoccupied of looks instead of what you are doing or saying or maybe the other way around and this shows.

You can also read this special Scorpio Daily Horoscope.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Try not to reveal to others exactly what is going on with you at the moment because you don’t really know how they are going to react and who they are going to speak to about your situation.

This is not a matter of who you trust more but a matter of needing to keep your mouth shut at the moment and of keeping things to yourself.

You can also read this special Sagittarius Daily Horoscope.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Your steps might cross with the steps of someone very special this Monday and who knows where this might take you.

But before making any scenarios be warned that things are going to be completely different from what you expect them to be, socializing with people you either never expected you’ll ever meet or who will propose very challenging opportunities.

You can also read this special Capricorn Daily Horoscope.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Quite a calm beginning of the week so maybe you should take advantage of this peace and quiet for a while and maybe dedicate yourself to some artistic endeavors.

Other than that, don’t really expect your house chores, if any at the moment, to be done by someone else because it is not going to be the case and you still need to be responsible yourself.

You can also read this special Aquarius Daily Horoscope.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

You might want to ponder a bit on the factors that are giving you a hard time and to try and eliminate them, at least from your thoughts.

The less you stress unnecessarily, the easier you will find even tasks that are more difficult in essence. You might also be up to take some initiative but who knows if you will be able to have your voice heard out.

30 September 2024 Current Moon Phase and Planetary Positions for the Southern Hemisphere

Source: nineplanets.org

The current moon phase for September 30th, 2024 is the Waning Crescent phase.

On this day, the moon is 27 days old and 5.56% illuminated with a tilt of -20.787°. The approximate distance from Earth to the moon is 404,313.46 km and the moon sign is Virgo.

The Moon phase for September 30th, 2024 is a Waning Crescent phase.

All Signs

This week begins with a strong, productive day. Many will be ambitious working on projects. Monday the 30th is also ORANGE SHIRT DAY, recognizing the abuse, and over 4,000 deaths that occurred at Canadian Residential schools. (It is formally known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.) A shift of energy will make Tuesday somewhat fuzzy thinking and full of confusion. This in turn, leads into the Solar Eclipse on Wednesday. Every Solar Eclipse is a New Moon; and this particular one will be electrifying and give the answers to many of life’s questions. What are life’s questions? To go or to stay? To accept or reject? How long will I live? And of course, the classic – shaken or stirred?

Aries (March 21-April 19)

On Monday, you can get a lot done at home. (It will be especially fortuitous for those of you who work from home.) Either way, you will roll up your sleeves and get down to it, perhaps even shoving furniture around. On Wednesday, the Solar Eclipse will be directly opposite your sign, which means you will have an opportunity to discover new truths about your closest relationships – partners, close friends and spouses. This is an opportunity not to be ignored! In a relationship that is happy, you will be as good for your partner as he or she is for you. When it comes to dealing with those who are close to you – happy is good.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

On Monday you will be forceful in all your communications with others. This will make you effective if you’re doing public speaking or involved in sales, marketing, teaching, acting or writing. You will say what you mean and mean what you say! You will also be very careful about what you say because you will want to get things right. On Wednesday, the Solar Eclipse might reveal answers related to your job, or your health. It might even reveal answers or better advice related to a pet. Whatever the case, the upshot will be that you will organize your world better.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

On Monday, you’re determined to work hard to earn money. (There’s no moss growing on you.) This is an indication that there’s a lot of cash flow and energy related to your earnings and how you spend money. However, even if you’re spending big, it will be on practical, reliable, long-lasting items because you will be thrifty and careful. (Oh yeah.) The Solar Eclipse this week might reveal some kind of romantic interest for you. You might see that someone really cares for you – or not. Or perhaps you will see that you really care for someone – or not. Other revelations that might occur could relate to your kids, the arts and whether or not you value your creative expression. You might also have a realization of how important it is to take a vacation and socialize in order to balance your work life.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

You will be focused, self-disciplined and proactive at the beginning of the week because Mars will be in your sign dancing with stern Saturn. This means you will put your comforts second to your ambition to get something done. You want results! In fact, whatever you do will impress bosses, parents and VIPs. Midweek, the Solar Eclipse will affect your home and family, which means you might have some revelations about how to make improvements at home. You might also see how to improve your relationship with a family member, especially a parent. If you can see these things, your family relationships will improve. No question.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

On Monday, you’re ready to work hard and give something all you’ve got. In particular, you want to solidify things at home so that they’re running the way you want them to, in terms of being practical as well as pleasing to the eye. (Your home is your castle.) This might include securing things for someone older in the family, perhaps a parent. Pay attention to everything you do this week because the Solar Eclipse in the middle of the week is a slightly accident-prone influence for you. However, certain things about your daily world will be revealed to you in a way that is meaningful. Ben Franklin said, “Time is the stuff life is made of.” This realization will help you make decisions about how you want to live, i.e. how you choose to use your time.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

It’s time to rouse the troops and set them marching! Use your energy to encourage friends and groups to help you achieve your goals and get something done. Someone older might be part of the picture, especially if they have street savvy or experience. The Solar Eclipse this week might reveal new approaches to how you make money or how you use your money and assets. Something favourable might impact your earnings. Whatever happens could help you to make careful, practical, happy plans for the future. With the support of others, it’s all coming together now, which is why you look good!

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You have high hopes for getting something done now — and you will do so because your determination, motivation and drive will make it happen. In fact, this ambitious energy will attract money to you or open doors so that you can increase your income and assets. You might get a raise. Meanwhile, the Solar Eclipse this week is taking place in your sign, which means something will change for you. You might see new possibilities, new avenues, new opportunities or new ways of looking at things – including your image and how you interact with others. You might choose a new game face because you hold all the cards right now.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You find it easy to be charming and diplomatic this week because fair Venus is in your sign. (Incidentally, this is an excellent time to shop for wardrobe goodies because you will like what you see in the mirror.) Meanwhile, this is an excellent time to make travel plans for future vacations as well as plans related to publishing, medicine, the law and higher education. The Solar Eclipse on Wednesday is powerful, and might reveal aspects of yourself that you have been hiding, ignoring or denying. It might also reveal answers you might have about your own spiritual beliefs or your inner world. This could be a time when profound answers are revealed to you.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

The beginning of this week is an excellent time to get your financial ducks in a row. Figure out what you owe and what you own. Make a plan to reduce debt. Check out inheritances, wills, estates, taxes and debt. US Pres. Eisenhower, who was a five-star general said, “In preparing for battle, I’ve always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable.” This is what happens when you take a look at your financial situation. Information is power, especially when it’s about your money and your assets. Meanwhile, midweek, the Solar Eclipse will reveal something about your friends. Your friends are important because they can shape your life. This is because they can affect your decision-making process, which in turn, creates your future.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You have the willingness and patience to do difficult and exacting work on Monday. “Duty calls!” This means you will be able to work at a steady, controlled pace. Whatever you do, you will do carefully. You will want to be useful. However, you might seek to do this in conjunction with a close friend or partner because this way – you will get the most done. Tuesday is a confusing day leading up to the Solar Eclipse on Wednesday, which might reveal to you how you deal with authority figures – parents, bosses, teachers and the police. You might learn something that will help you be more confident and effective in the future.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

You’ll be PowerPoint on steroids on Monday because you’ll be gung-ho to work. Whatever you do – intellectual or physical work that requires attention to detail – will be done with precision and excellence. Make a point of using Monday to your best advantage. Glide through Tuesday and cope as best you can because the Solar Eclipse on Wednesday could reveal important answers to you. These answers might relate to further travel opportunities that will enrich your life or further education that would be good for you to pursue. It might also deal with legal, medical matters or something to do with publishing and the media?

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Those of you in sports, or the performing arts, or in any craft or trade where you need to perfect or hone a technique – do be aware that Monday is the perfect day to practice something and get better and better. That’s because you will have the patience and willingness to persevere and keep plugging along even if you don’t see immediate rewards. You can definitely use this day to improve how you do something. Don’t miss this opportunity. Tuesday is a different matter. Take a break. The Solar Eclipse on Wednesday is an excellent time to take stock of your belongings and especially your debt or anything that you share with someone else. Get the full picture. Decide how to improve it.
