The Moon’s current phase for today and tonight is a Waning Crescent phase. This phase is best viewed just before the sunrise in the western sky. In this phase the Moon’s illumination is growing smaller each day until the New Moon. During this part of the Moon cycle, the Moon is getting closer to the Sun as viewed from Earth and the night side of the Moon is facing the Earth with only a small edge of the Moon being illuminated. It can also be a great time to see the features of the Moon’s surface. Along the edge where the illuminated portion meets the dark side, the craters and mountains cast long shadows making them easier to observe with a telescope or binoculars.

Today’s Waning Crescent Phase

Moon Alert

Avoid shopping or making important decisions from 6 PM to 7 PM EDT today (3 PM to 4 PM PDT). After that, the Moon moves from Cancer into Leo.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Discussions with family members will be warm and supportive today. Someone might want to confide in you. They might want your help in some way. Or possibly, you are the one who wants assistance? Although this conversation might be unexpected, someone will listen.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Because your imagination is heightened today, you can visualize things and dream up all kinds of possibilities. This is an excellent influence for writers, especially fantasy and sci-fi writers. However, today also hold surprises. Pay attention to everything you say and do to avoid an accident.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Be smart and guard your possessions and your money today to avoid loss, theft or damage. Meanwhile, you will be tempted to spend money on luxurious, fanciful items today. You might discover something new that you never saw before – (but you wanted it all your life.)

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

This is a restless day for you because surprising news or unexpected events might catch you off guard. In turn, you might feel impulsive. However, you will also feel tender concern for those who are suffering in another country. The welfare of children matters to you.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Your sensitivity to other people and different situations is finely tuned today. This is why you might be concerned for the welfare of a family member or anyone who is less fortunate. You might speak up on their behalf or try to call the attention of others to their plight.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You feel tenderhearted today, especially towards a friend or a member of a group. If someone needs your help today, you will respond. You might also meet someone who is unusual. Or perhaps someone you know will do something that surprises you? Be open to whatever happens.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

A boss, parent or someone in a position of authority might surprise you today. They might have unexpected news or they might do something you least expect. In turn, you might have sympathy for this person. You will help coworkers today, if you can.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Today your idealism is aroused along with your appreciation of beauty, which means because your senses are so finely tuned, you will enjoy museums, art galleries and seeing the beautiful creations of others. You might also be attracted to a philosophy or a religion.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Check banking details and anything to do with shared property, inheritances, taxes and debt because something unexpected could impact these areas. Meanwhile, you might be generous to someone because you feel sympathetic. Generosity is a good thing, but don’t give away the farm.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

A partner or close friend might surprise you today. Nevertheless, you will have a meeting of the minds because it’s easy to have a mutually sympathetic understanding with someone. You have a sense that this person has your back and you have theirs. That’s reassuring.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Your work routine might be interrupted today. Whatever happens, you will feel sympathetic to a coworker or anyone who needs your help. Possibly, you are the one who needs help from someone else? Either way, people are caring and helpful today, which is gratifying.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Parents should keep your eyes open today because this is an accident-prone day for your kids. You might also encounter a child who needs your help. Meanwhile, this is a great day for artists and creative projects because you are in touch with your imagination today. Trust your dreams.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Hockey players Henrik and Daniel Sedin (1980) shares your birthday today. You are tenacious and disciplined. You demand excellence of yourself. (You hate to make a mistake.) This is a year of learning and teaching. Take time to renew your spiritual or religious beliefs. Explore philosophies that will give you a better idea of who you are.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Maybe you shouldn’t count that much on your intuition today and factor in some logic as well as it seems there might be some things you won’t really want to believe they are true but which actually are and you need to be very careful with them.

The more dreamy you are now, the more you risk loosing track of things eventually.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

This is going to be a great day for meditation and all sorts of endeavors that include a lot of deep thinking and understanding the way you make decisions.

At the same time you will probably be a bit baffled to find out that this doesn’t exclude people in your life and that there is no need for you to isolate yourself to do that.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

You might be going through a busy time but this doesn’t mean you have an excuse not to return calls, to disappear from peoples’ lives or not to respect your promises.

You can’t really display it high for everyone to see how busy you are and not explanation times will be granted so people will start talking if you don’t help out.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

This Thursday really is set to teach you a lesson about discipline and how on certain occasions you kind of need to let your head down and listen to what others have to say and then follow their objectives.

It is not always up to you, whether at home or at work and the earlier you understand this, the easier it is going to be.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

This is going to be a highly materialistic and commercial day for you and either that you go shopping or make plans you are surely only thinking about how to indulge yourself and those dear to you.

Not wise to use the difficult time we are all going through as an excuse to raid your finances for good in order to make yourself feel better.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

This is going to be a very coincidental day and you will probably feel as if you are on the same thought track with a lot of people around you in various situations.

Whether this is magic or not I will let you decided but what I can tell you for sure is that the most part of this is caused by the fact that you are highly empathic today.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

I would tell you to watch your words but it seems that the stars will exert a bigger force than yourself so you will still get going to say whatever you think, no matter how many times you have been warned.

Without words or occasion to say how you feel you are going to be even more conflict so maybe it’s best to get it all out of the system.

You can also read this special Libra Daily Horoscope.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You will have to be very careful to what you are doing because some of your actions, although well thought from your side, might appear contradictory from everyone else’s.

Beware of complications and try to have as many things in writing and well sorted out before any action really starts. This might prove inspirational as well, eventually.

You can also read this special Scorpio Daily Horoscope.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

The current disposition will bring some long wanted level of comfort and stability in your life but it seems you don’t crave that anymore so you won’t greet this with too much enthusiasm.

On the contrary actually, you will probably feel as if things have become too predictable and boring around you and you need some challenge now.

You can also read this special Sagittarius Daily Horoscope.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

No time to rest for you this Thursday and although initially this seemed like a peaceful day set to give you the time to resolve your tasks carefully, it seems you will need not only focus but a lot of patience to get through with it all.

This might also reveal you who is genuinely interested to help you and who runs at the first sign of trouble.

You can also read this special Capricorn Daily Horoscope.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

While I would like to warn you about the consequences of this day, especially emotionally maybe there is best to leave you to your resources to tackle all that.

After all this is all the result of something you previously did, something that wasn’t too nice so be prepared to make amends and to clean up a mess you did.

You can also read this special Aquarius Daily Horoscope.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

You seem to be highly preoccupied this Thursday about what the future has in store for you and this might prevent you from actually living the present.

Don’t be too impatient in regard to some matters because there is no need for them to be revealed earlier on, plus, some others are so connected that you wouldn’t understand them anyway.

Spell For Wednesday – Potato Home Protection Spell

(YOU CAN COPY AND PASTE ANY SPELLS POSTED TO A DOCUMENT TO PRINT AND/OR SAVE ON YOUR COMPUTER FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY)

One of our favorite ways to protect the home with a spell is by reinforcing the foundational four walls of your full property. By placing symbols, totems, crystals, or plants in the four corners, you mark the boundaries of your safe space.

The element of Earth represents the energy of a strong, safe, and grounded foundation. So, in this spell, we’ll be using one of the most well-connected spell ingredients we could find.

The main ingredient of this house protection spell is a potato. Potatoes dig deep into the Earth, creating strong, nourishing roots. The plant, itself, is poisonous; this natural defense mechanism helps deter predators from harming the plant. So, we’ll utilize those two symbolic aspects of the potato to keep your home safe from harm, safe from negative energy, and full of nourishing love.

Potato Home Protection Spell

Spell Timing:

Waning Gibbous

Spell Ingredients:

Spell Directions:

  1. Cleanse: Cleanse your sacred space with a sage bundle or palo santo.
  2. Cast: If your spiritual path calls for it, cast a protective circle around your sacred space.
  3. Prepare:
    1. Using your boline, cut the potato into quarters. Each quarter represents a corner of your home.
    2. On the paper, draw the property outline of your property, making sure to draw it as large as the paper. Draw your home within the boundaries of your property.
    3. Place the candles at the 4 corners of your property line.
  4. Enchant: One by one, hold a quarter of a potato and light one candle. Say:
    1. Beacon of protection shine up to the sky
Protect this beautiful house of mine
I call down protection from all around
To take root and protect us deep in the ground
And as this plant begins to grow
Harmful visitors shall turn and go
Forget the reason you came here
I no longer live in fear.
    2. Repeat this for each potato quarter.
  5. Visualize: Visualize a box of golden, protective light connecting each of the candles. Know and see that your home is safe.
  6. Close the circle: If you cast a circle for step two, take your circle down, now.
  7. Finish the spell: Let the candles burn out on their own. As they burn, bury one potato piece in each quarter of the yard. Visualize a box of golden, protective light connecting each of your property’s corners. Know and see that your home is safe.

26 September 2024 Current Moon Phase for the Southern Hemisphere

Source: nineplanets.org

The current moon phase for September 26th, 2024 is the Waning Crescent phase.

On this day, the moon is 22.88 days old and 35.71% illuminated with a tilt of -36.947°. The approximate distance from Earth to the moon is 390,546.71 km and the moon sign is Cancer.

The Moon phase for September 26th, 2024 is a Waning Crescent phase. This is the phase where the moon is less than 50% illuminated but has not yet reached 0% illumination (which would be a New Moon).

In this part of the moon cycle, it is getting closer and closer to the Sun as viewed from Earth and the night side of the Moon is facing earth with a decreasingly thin crescent being illuminated.

The waning (shrinking) crescement Moon will rise at around midnight, transit the meridian after sunrise, before setting after noon. This phase is best viewed 1-2 hours before sunrise and is a great time to see the features of the Moon’s surface. Along the illuminated crescent you can see the craters and mountains of the moon casting long shadows.

The Waxing Gibbous phase, like all moon phases, will last for just over 7 days. The actual length will vary because of the elliptical shaped orbit of the moon. During this Waxing Gibbous phase the moon will rise in the east in the mid- to late-afternoon and will be high in the eastern sky at sunset.

Assuming it’s a clear night, the Waxing Gibbous moon will then be visible through most of the night before setting just before sunrise.

Fun fact: the illuminated side of a waning crescent moon is always pointed eastwards, towards the sunrise.

The current moon phase for today is the Waning Gibbous phase.

On this day, the moon is 21.86 days old and 46.11% illuminated with a tilt of -41.333°. The approximate distance from Earth to the moon is 385,207.52 km and the moon sign is Cancer.

The Moon phase for today is a Waning Gibbous phase. This is the first phase after the Full Moon where the illumination of the moon decreases each day until it reaches 50% (the Last Quarter phase).

The waning (shrinking) gibbous Moon will rise after sunset in the east, transit the meridian after midnight, before setting after sunrise in the west.

During this phase, the illumination of the moon will go down from 99.% to 50.1%. Technically, the phase starts as soon as the Full Moon has passed, but it can be difficult to calculate and differentiate the first stage of a Waning Gibbous Moon from a Full Moon when 98-99% of the Moon’s surface is illuminated.

Fun fact: the word Gibbous was first used in the 14th century and comes from the latin word gibbosus which means humpbacked.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

You might see new ways to boost your income today. Or perhaps, you will see new uses or applications for something that you already own. (Could that lawnmower be a floor lamp?) Meanwhile, be cautious because somebody out there might not have your best interests at heart.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Today it’s as if you have X-ray vision because you are capable to see the subtext of things and issues happening all around you. You see what motivates others. You see beneath the surface of things. In fact, this is why you will be attracted to mysteries and sharing fun puzzles with someone.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You might meet a teacher today or someone who has a profound effect on your thinking because they might teach you new ways of looking at something. They might discuss politics, religion or social issues. You might want to share this knowledge with a partner or close friend.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Your involvement with a friend or partner will be intense today because whatever discussions take place will be important to you. They might reveal more of you or more of the other person? However, you also feel playful and up for fun and sports!

If Your Birthday Is Today

Actor Michael Douglas (1944) shares your birthday today. You are complex because you can be sympathetic and identify with others; but also, skeptical. You value your independence. This is a year of service, probably service to family. Therefore, take care of yourself so you can be a support. Personalize your home. Is it time for a makeover?

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Love will be a main point of focus today but not necessarily because you want it or crave any emotional connection but more like in order to give you a chance to hide from real important thoughts.

On the other hand, the more elusive and avoidant you are, the less stressed and more approachable you become and this makes you feel good about yourself.

This Wednesday will form a certain belief in your mind about someone in particular, maybe someone you’ve recently met and you didn’t really know where to position them.

All Signs

This week it will be easy to bite off more than you can chew. If you’re ambitious and confident, you could be overwhelmed by an onslaught of work that suddenly presents itself. Fortunately, Wednesday is an excellent day to focus, concentrate and make important decisions. (Incidentally, in the midst of this busy week, Thursday is an inspirational gift! Full of imagination, creative visualization and dream goals! Who knew?) Meanwhile, today the Sun is changing signs, which means we’re leaving something behind and moving to something new. (Generally, when one door closes, and another door opens, you’re probably in prison.)

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Today the Sun moves opposite your sign to stay for the next four weeks. This is the only time all year this happens, and it means that the Sun is now as far away from your sign as it can get all year. (We’re not talking 93 million miles. We’re talking six inches on your astrology chart.) Nevertheless, because the Sun is your source of energy, this means you will be slightly weaker. Your energy will be somewhat flagging. Therefore, it’s important to get more sleep in the next month. Go to bed. Ironically, increased chaos and activity on the home front will make demands on your time. One gift of this position of the Sun is that you will have more objectivity viewing your closest relationships. You will learn a lot.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

As this onslaught of work arrives this week, you will be more prepared for it than other signs. Why? This is because you are suddenly eager to work! You want to get things done. More than that, you want to work smart. You want to get the best results for your efforts, which is why you want to be efficient and effective. Not only will you be hands-on with whatever you do, you will be effective doing mental work as well because you will pay more attention to detail. It’s also a good time to sit down with coworkers to solve problems. Because fiery Mars is in your House of Communications, you will identify with your ideas and be convincing!

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

You might have a few challenges this week because although the work will inevitably arrive, and this will make demands on your time and energy; nevertheless, as the Sun shifts signs today, it moves into the most fun-filled, playful part of your chart! Fortunately, this will give you opportunities to express yourself and have fun for the next four weeks, even if this week is busy. Grab every chance to amuse yourself! Accept invitations to party. Your attitude toward your relationships will be lighter because you feel happier. Ironically, you’re still willing to work hard to boost your earnings, because you’re spending money! Ka-ching!

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

You have a pleasant four weeks ahead because today the Sun moves into the part of your chart that is all about home and family. This suits you perfectly because at heart, you’re a nester. This means that for the next month, you will focus on parents and family members more than usual. Family discussions will be important. Very likely, you will tackle some home repairs. But all is not work – oh no. Creative Venus wants you to play and express your creative talents! Expect love affairs, fun activities with children and exciting, creative diversions. There is no need to pretend to be what you are not. (“Hi, it’s me.”)

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

This is a busy week and the tempo of your days is accelerating! Suddenly, you have things to do, places to go and people to see. Many of you will be reading, writing and studying more than usual. Interactions with siblings, relatives and neighbours might increase. Short trips are likely. Redecorating and tweaking your digs to make them more attractive will appeal; plus, you might squeeze in some time to entertain at home. (This is likely because Jupiter is boosting your popularity this year.) However, do be aware that someone out there might not have your best interests at heart. If you suspect something fishy is going on – it is. Don’t be naive.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You’re prepared to work this week because you’re focused on money and assets more than usual. Take inventory and figure out what you own and what you owe. Furthermore, take inventory of your possessions to see what is worth keeping because it enriches your life, or it helps you in some way versus what you might be keeping because you don’t know what else to do with it. Lighten up if you can. Get rid of what you no longer use, need or like. Give it away, sell it, recycle it or turf it. You’ll make your life easier. Meanwhile, you are charming and friendly right now because Venus is in your House of Communications. Everyone wants to share your company! Kiss, kiss, hug, hug.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Today the Sun moves into your sign to stay for the next four weeks. This happens once a year and when it does, it’s your chance to recharge your batteries for the rest of year. You will make an excellent impression on others because you’ll project yourself with more energy. You will also have a great need to express yourself. Don’t deny this. Find people who want to listen to you, especially because Mercury will also move into your sign, adding to your desire to talk, teach, lecture, market and sell. This is a powerful time because in addition to the Sun being in your sign, fiery Mars is at the top of your chart arousing your ambition. Now is the hour to get things done!

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Today the Sun moves into a hidden part of your chart, which means that similarly, you will choose to “hide” or be low profile for the next four weeks. It’s not that you’re being antisocial. It’s simply what you prefer to do. In fact, with Venus in your sign, you’ll find it easy to be charming with everyone. But you will choose to do things at your own pace. Meanwhile, do note that this is an excellent week to buy wardrobe goodies for yourself. It’s also a great time to travel or do anything that makes you feel that you’re expanding your horizons and learning something new. Get out of town or be a tourist in your own city.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Today the Sun moves into your House of Friendships; and on Thursday, Mercury joins the Sun in this same House. This means that in the next four weeks, you’ll be involved more not only with friends, but with groups, clubs and organizations. These friendships will be important to you. In fact, you will be most effective working with others or in a partnership at this time. (Keep this in mind.) Very likely, you’ll be involved with younger people. However, this is an excellent time to examine the role that certain people play in your life. Remember that your friends can influence your future because they can influence your choices, which in turn, create your future. (Something to think about.)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You have a lovely month ahead! Today the Sun moves to the top of your chart to stay for four weeks. This is something that can happen only once a year, and when it does, it symbolizes that you are being thrust in the spotlight of the Sun and this light is flattering! Say no more. This means that you don’t have to do anything special, but people will admire you and think you’re the cat’s meow. Because this is an advantage for you – use it! Now is the time to go after what you want and advance your agenda. Don’t hesitate to ask bosses, parents and people in power for what you want. Meanwhile, relations with friends and groups will be warm and supportive. In fact, a friend might become a lover.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

For the next four weeks, your desire to get outta Dodge will be strong. You want to travel! You want adventure! You want to see new places, discover new ideas and be inspired by whatever you encounter. You adore meeting new and unusual characters and this is what you can do whether you travel far, or you explore your own neighbourhood. Meanwhile, this is a busy, productive week for most, and you will accomplish a lot because Mars will help you work. Be careful not to be too demanding of coworkers because they might not keep up with your pace. Romance with a boss is possible. Enjoy good times that come your way.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

You want to do your own thing right now. You want to slip away on vacations. You want to travel. You want to have fun! You might be more competitive than usual. In fact, sports will delight. Your romantic passions are ignited because your desire nature is strong. (Woot!) Physical intimacy will be one of the forms of self-expression that you seek. Since you want to indulge your passions, this is also great time to buy new boots or shoes. After all, you will be focused on shared property, taxes and debt a bit more than usual. Plus of course, as you well know – “Winter is coming.”

Ostara’s Meaning, Traditions and A Simple Ostara Ritual

From otherworldlyoracle.com

The Spring Equinox is knocking on our dew-stained windows, beckoning us to remember its beauty and release. Many Wiccans, witches and Pagans celebrate the Spring Equinox, also known as Ostara, which falls around March 21st on the calendar each year. Learn all about Ostara’s meaning, how to celebrate Ostara with old and modern traditions, and adapt our simple Ostara ritual as your own.

Ostara and Easter’s Similar Origins

The word Ostara originates from a Spring Goddess’s name—Eostre. The symbols of Ostara are uncannily similar to the traditions of the Christian holiday Easter. Why is this? To find Jesus’ Resurrection Day on the calendar – look at the first full moon following the Spring Equinox, and Easter will be on the first Sunday following the full moon. If it happens the first full moon of Spring falls on a Sunday, then Easter will be on the following Sunday.

Easter & Fertility

The word Easter looks a lot like the Spring Goddess’s name Eostre, doesn’t it? There’s no coincidence there! Ostara (the Spring Equinox) was celebrated by Germanic people and by the Anglo-Saxons. Fertility and rebirth of the earth were the two main reasons for Ostara festivities. The earth is returning to its abundant greenness and the sun is returning to the high skies. Flowers are budding, lambs are bleating in the fields, and the whole of nature is singing.

Ostara Symbols and Traditions

The Easter Bunny is an image on a pedestal with the likes of Santa Claus and The Tooth Fairy. But where does the Easter Bunny come from? Just like so many other historical Holiday icons and traditions, the Easter Bunny was born from Pagan customs. Bunnies are cute, fluffy, and hippety-hoppety. But they’re also known for mating. LOTS of it. It should come as no surprise the Rabbit is one of Ostara’s original symbols of fertility. In addition, there’s speculation the goddess Eostre once had a consort who was part-rabbit.

Easter Eggs

Easter Eggs are another symbol of fertility and rebirth. Christians claim Easter eggs represent Christ’s Resurrection – an egg inevitably means new life or birth into a new life. The “dying of eggs” tradition may have its roots in the ancient Zoroastrians’ painting egg ritual on the Spring Equinox. Painting eggs is a common activity at various times of the year for many countries, including Ukraine, the U.S., Austria, Germany, Poland, Russia, and Bulgaria.

Flowers

Another image that is widely associated with Ostara and Easter…the flower. The symbol of the flower is new life. Flowers have an uplifting effect on us. Their bright colors prove even though there is a time for death, there will always be a time for rebirth. This Ostara, pick some wildflowers and place them in a vase on your table or altar. Or decorate your table with Spring greenery. It will remind you of the beauty of Spring and of the true meaning of Ostara (and Easter, for that matter) which is new life.

13 SIMPLE Ways to Celebrate Ostara …

A Simple Ostara Ritual

If you’re looking for simple Ostara rituals, here’s one of ours to adapt to fit your needs.

On Ostara, stand outside somewhere private. Breathe in the air and remind yourself why Spring is special and magical. Let old memories of the Springtime and Ostara arise in your mind. Holding the joyful memories of spring in your mind:

Turn and face the direction of the sun. Thank the sun for its grand return to the sky and ask for its blessings upon the land.

Thank Mother Nature for her nourishment and love.

If you have shoes on, remove them and allow the earth’s energy to rise into your feet and gradually up your legs and then through the rest of your body.

Choose the nearest tree and walk over to it, still feeling the earth’s energy undulating in waves throughout your body. Hold your hand out to the tree, fingers up and place your palm against the tree, as if saying hello.

Let the tree’s energy flow into your fingers and palm and then into your arm, slowly meeting and mixing with the energy still rising from your feet. Place your other palm against the tree to greet the tree’s spirit.

Let the tree’s energy fill the top portion of your body, including your mind and heart. At this point, you will feel the earth and tree’s energy meeting and combining. If you cannot feel it physically, feel it with your mind and spirit.

Visualize the energies mixing and filling your body fluidly. This is the spirit of Spring and the soul of nature.

Wrapping Up the Ritual…

To end your Ostara ritual, be sure that both of your feet are flat upon the ground and both palms are flat against the same tree. Imagine some of your energy and spirit flowing out from your heart chakra and into the tree.

Think of your solar plexus as sending waves of your energy down through your legs, through your feet and into the earth. This is to give some of yourself to the earth, as you have taken some of its energy in this rite.

Once more, face the sun (don’t stare directly at it), and thank the sun for its warmth and thank the earth for its upcoming gifts to us this Spring.

After you have performed this simple Ostara ritual, remember the exchange of energies for the rest of the day. Remember why we love Spring and be grateful for all of the fruitfulness of the earth. If we take, we must give something in return.

Moon Alert

There are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions today. The Moon is in Taurus.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Today you might have some excellent moneymaking ideas, perhaps about your personal life or your job. They might even be practical ideas that can benefit your health? Nevertheless, keep an eye on your money, possessions and resources to protect them from something unexpected.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

This is a strong day for you! Advice from a friend, especially someone older or more experienced could be helpful. You might also have creative, fun ideas to share with children, sports events or the arts because you’re full of spontaneous, fun-loving energy today! Share your enthusiasm with someone.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

This is a restless day for you. However, discussions with a parent, boss or someone in authority might benefit you. (Listen for potentially good advice.) You will also enjoy talking to younger family members as well as exploring ways to make home improvements and repairs “Let’s get this done!”

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

This is a good day to make plans for the future, especially related to higher education, travel, and legal or medical matters. Expect discussions with others to be lively and informative! You might meet a real character today. Someone different or unusual. (This is not a boring day.)

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Another day when you are high viz. and people seem to know personal details about your private life. Meanwhile, be aware that bosses, parents and authority figures (including the police) might do something that surprises you. This could be pleasant – or not. Forewarned is forearmed.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Travel plans might suddenly change today. Pay attention to details about publishing matters or anything related to medicine and the law. (Something unexpected might occur.) You are chatty and charismatic today. You might spend money on beautiful things for yourself and loved ones.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Make friends with your bank account because something unexpected could impact your assets or anything to do with shared property or the wealth and resources of a partner. In fact, an unexpected expense might occur. Or perhaps a gift will come your way? (Still a great time to shop for wardrobe items.)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

A friend or partner might surprise you today. They might want a change in the relationship. Perhaps more freedom? Or possibly, you will be introduced to someone who is different or unusual. If so, this person might be powerful enough to make you reconsider your goals.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Something unexpected might impact your job today or even your health. Meanwhile discussions with bosses, parents and authority figures will go well. In fact, something might transpire that increases your wealth or secures or improves your job. Or perhaps, you will see a new way to earn money?

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Parents should be extra vigilant today because this is an accident-prone day for your kids. Meanwhile, unexpected invitations might come your way, giving you a chance to socialize or enjoy sports events or the arts. Act quickly because this window of opportunity will be brief.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Your home routine will be interrupted today. Small appliances might break down or a minor breakage could occur. Someone unexpected could knock on the door. Meanwhile, discussions about financial support for home and family will go well. Travel plans look promising!

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Pay attention to everything you say and do today because this is an accident-prone day for your sign. Nevertheless, you will enjoy new ideas, new places and meeting new faces. Discussions with a partner or a close friend could be profound. In fact, romantic relationships are passionate and affectionate right now.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Author Stephen King (1947) shares your birthday today. Ysou are fascinated by unusual things and intriguing situations – sometimes even a bit dark. You’re hungry to learn and have new experiences. This is a slower paced year. It’s okay to rest. A time to rejuvenate your energy. Focus on close relationships and make sure these people have your back.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

There is some sort of responsibility you either have taken yourself or that someone else has thrown on your shoulder that won’t really let you sleep or do anything fun this weekend.

At the same time, some natives might have to work, something that doesn’t always fall good in their schedules and this will only increase the pressure.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Don’t say you haven’t been warned that this Saturday turning back is the worst idea you can have and that you should leave everything behind in case you forget something and things like that.

It doesn’t have to do with superstition but it does have to do with how hectic you project your life to be and how you need to let go certain things.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Today you might feel as if you are talking to walls and at times they even answer you back, but on a different topic.

It appears thought that you will be given enough strength and patience to get through all the difficult moments but at the same time you won’t be able to help yourself from actually trying to lecture those people which is just energy wasted.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

The current disposition won’t let you enjoy the weekend as you might deserve and I’ve been meaning to tell you that so you can consider yourself warned.

Everything will probably go upside down. So if you want to relax, you’ll probably end up with a lot of chores on your head and at the same time if you do have a plan of tasks, be sure this will be blocked or delayed in some way.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

You don’t seem to find your place anywhere and while for some natives this might be because they are so entrenched into their work routine that they can’t really feel themselves without it, for some others it might all have to do with the relationships in their family.

And maybe also with some discussions that have taken place not long ago.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You seem to be in great shape and find it easier to adapt to whatever is being thrown at you today. At the same time you seem to build up on the good relationship you have with someone in your immediate family and seem to find more place to spend together.

Other than that, might be a good idea to spend some time outdoors.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You don’t need to be afraid to build up around some of your dreams and this Saturday is not even a bad time to do that.

Meanwhile the more you focus your energy in one direction, the easier it is going to be for you to meet with people able to share the same vision with you and who knows, why not support you in the future.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You need to keep things light, especially with your friends because remember no one wants to be around a permanent complainer.

If all your stories include something you are complaining about or being dramatic about, maybe you should refrain from sharing them and let others build upon the entertaining atmosphere.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

It seems that you have created some sort of boundaries between you and some close friends and they might be wondering why this happened.

Therefore, whether you did this on purpose or unconsciously you will still have to give some explanation today and it might not be that easy to deal with everyone at the same time.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

You are trying to build some sort of support network around someone you know and feel that needs this at the moment.

It is either that those you are asking for help are reluctant to join in or that even the person you are trying to help is cautious in accepting the help you are so gracefully trying to crowd source for them.

Moon Alert

Avoid shopping or important decisions from 4 AM to 5:30 AM EDT today (1 AM to 2:30 AM PDT). After that, the Moon moves from Aries into Taurus.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

This is a tricky day. You might feel unsure of your dealings at work. Information might be incorrect. Someone might deceive you. Nevertheless, when it comes to financial matters related to home and family, you are much more confident. It is what it is.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Today the Moon is in your sign dancing nicely with Mercury, which makes you feel emotionally invigorated and mentally alert. Nevertheless, issues related to romance, social outings, dealing with children and anything to do with sports might be confusing even demoralizing. Stay strong. You’re okay.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

There are different influences impacting you today. Privately, you feel strong. In fact, you feel enthusiastic about life. However, relations with parents or authority figures (including the police) could be confusing. Perhaps you’re not sure how to act or react? Don’t let yourself be bullied by anyone.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Although your dealings with friends and members of groups are upbeat and positive today; nevertheless, a communication from someone, or news, or some other input might give you feelings of self-doubt. You might second-guess yourself. Don’t give in to this.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

You make a great impression on others today. People see you as vigourous and intellectually alive! Nevertheless, there’s a strong possibility of confusion (and deceit) with financial matters. Pay attention to invoices and bills. Get your receipts. Protect your assets.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You have a strong desire to explore other realms and do something different today. (At least, you would like to talk to interesting people and learn something new.) Meanwhile, even though the Sun is in your sign today, it is opposed by Neptune, which can make you feel fatigued or uncertain. Tread carefully.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

This is a good time for you to buy wardrobe goodies. It’s also an excellent time to have discussions about shared property, shared assets, taxes, debt and the wealth and resources of your partner or someone else. However, something related to your health or your job might confuse you. This is temporary.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

This is a curious day because even though conversations with partners and close friends will be lively and interactive; nevertheless, conversations with groups, romantic partners or kids might be confusing, even demoralizing. Go figure. Cope as best you can.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Conversations with parents, bosses, authority figures and the police are subject to confusion and possible dishonesty. (If you suspect something fishy is going on, it is!) Agree to nothing important if you feel hesitant. Meanwhile, relations with your kids, romantic partners and spouses are strong.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

This is a great day to socialize with others. Enjoy sports events, fun outings, activities with children and anything to do with the arts. However, a conversation with someone might confuse or even demoralize you. Don’t let this happen. Believe in yourself and your abilities. Don’t fall prey to the negativity of others.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Be careful with financial decisions today. In fact, postpone important financial decisions for a later date. Confusion, misinformation and lies might cost you money today. Perhaps you don’t have the facts? Perhaps your facts are wrong? Instead focus on home improvements and family matters.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Without question, interactions with partners and close friends are confusing today. You might feel disappointed, hurt, demoralized. There could be a misunderstanding. Fortunately, relations with your kids and romantic partners are strong and clear. Don’t let anyone make you a victim today. Stand up for yourself.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Actress Sofia Loren (1934) shares your birthday today. You are passionate and intense; yet, always charming and outgoing. This is the beginning of a new cycle for you – a time of new beginnings, adventures and major changes in your life. Be alert for new opportunities and be ready to act. Prepared to take on a leadership role.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

t seems that you are going to burst open with all the frustrations you have accumulated to far and it will be very little anyone or you can do to prevent this.

The only thing you might be able to temper to an extent would be the intensity of your rage or the subjects you are going to tackle in this dramatic display but it will all depend in the end by the trigger.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

It appears like this Friday is going to be more about fun than work and more about talking to people about anything but work.

Interesting auspices, especially for those natives who have yet to unravel how sociable and charming they actually are, to their work colleagues. Interesting to see the reactions around to this, though.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Don’t you even dare set too many things on your to do list today because the stars are going to consider it a challenge and will do what is best in their powers to prevent you from actually accomplishing those activities.

This is going to be quite a difficult day in terms of work but at the same time it seems your mind will relax a bit as the afternoon sets in.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

This Friday will be all about cooperation and how you perceive working with others. Whether the actual work will lead to the results you are expecting or not, it is something you will discover yourself, but the auspices don’t look bad in this regard either.

What should actually be the highlight of the day is the reflection you should get from all that is happening.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

This is going to be a learning day, whether you are still in school or not. Something or someone will give you a lesson and you will have to patiently listen to it.

It is probably up to you whether you will take something from it or not but the general idea is that you can’t really escape the consequences triggered by what you are doing.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

The more you are trying to capture the attention of your partner this Friday, the harder it will be.

Whether the situation is a bit on rocks due to something that happened in the past or you are just being overly sensitive to a situation that is actually very mundane with your partner just being very busy, the result might be another conflict out of nothing.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You will be somewhat invited to think on the long term this Friday and to take some decisions that will influence you later on.

It is going to be as hard as you can’t really see those changes now and you don’t really know how to imagine them in the future either. It is a highly personal decision though so you will have to take it on your own.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Regardless of what is the purpose of your plans and no matter how altruistic they might be, this is going to be a difficult day and you will struggle to see things to completion.

What can leave you breathe easily is the fact that the roadblocks you’ll meet don’t really have anything to do with you so there is no need to blame yourself.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

It seems like a new situation shows up in your personal life and you are trying your best to come to grips with it.

The more personal you perceive that to be, the longer you will need to accommodate. Other than that, work will keep you busy for the fair share of the day so at least you will have some time to breath with that.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

It appears that this Friday is going to unveil a creative side in you that is usually buried deep, deep underneath many layers of caution and self awareness.

You might even get the chance to leave your thoughts run free and who knows that interesting plans and even actual actions are going to surface out of this.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

You might want to be very careful with your health this Friday because things have been adding up and no matter how much you are trying to cheat yourself with half healthy habits, you either do the whole things or you don’t do it at all.

Avoiding excesses might not work anymore so you kind of have to think of more radical strategies.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

It appears like the stars are counting on you and offer you their helping hand in your endeavors but you need to be very careful because this is surely not granted.

Therefore, at the slightest sign of derailing or of changing your objective, you might risk falling out of their favor and this probably translates into a lot more hard work than now.

Colours.

Red.

Red symbolises the turning leaves and the life force of the harvest. It evokes the passion and energy of the season and reminds us of the vitality in both the Earth and our own lives. This powerful colour is a powerful reminder of the cyclical nature of life, where endings and beginnings coexist. The fiery hues of red can ignite our inner drive and enthusiasm, making it a great choice for rituals that seek to inspire motivation and action.

Incorporating red into your Mabon celebrations can be done in various ways. Add red candles to your Mabon altar to symbolise the warmth and energy of the season, or wear red during your rituals to embody the passion and power of the harvest. You can also use red leaves, flowers, or fruits as decorations, which enhances the visual representation of the equinox. Red is also linked to the root chakra, which is associated with grounding and survival, reinforcing the idea of staying rooted while celebrating the abundance around us.

Orange.

Orange represents the harvest and the warmth of the autumn sun. It’s a colour of abundance and creativity, perfect for rituals and spells focused on gratitude and bringing projects to fruition. The warm, inviting nature of orange encourages us to embrace the fruits of our labour and to be thankful for the prosperity in our lives. This colour is also associated with the sacral chakra, which governs creativity and emotional expression.

Using orange in your Mabon practices can help you tap into the creative energies of the season. Decorate your altar with orange pumpkins, squash, and other harvest fruits, or use orange candles to symbolise the ongoing warmth and light as the days grow shorter. Wearing orange can also enhance your connection to the creative and abundant energies of Mabon. Additionally, orange flowers like marigolds and chrysanthemums can be placed on your altar or around your home to bring in the vibrant energy of the season.

Brown.

Brown is the colour of the Earth and signifies grounding and stability. It’s a reminder of the solid foundation that supports our growth and the stability that comes from being connected to the land. This earthy colour helps us stay grounded and balanced, especially as we prepare for the introspective months ahead. Brown is also associated with the base chakra, which connects us to our physical existence and the material world.

Incorporate brown into your Mabon decorations and rituals to deepen your connection to the Earth. Use brown altar cloths, stones, and other natural elements to create a grounding atmosphere. You can also wear brown clothing during your rituals to symbolise your bond with the land and the cycles of nature. Adding elements like acorns, pinecones, and items made from wood to your altar can further reinforce the grounding energy of brown. This colour encourages us to reflect on our roots and appreciate the stability that comes from being connected to the natural world.

Foods.

Apples.

Apples are a quintessential symbol of Mabon, representing wisdom, harvest, and the turning of the seasons. These fruits have been celebrated in various cultures for their mystical and symbolic properties. In many traditions, apples are associated with knowledge and the divine, often linked to deities and myths involving wisdom and immortality. During Mabon, apples can be used in many different ways in your celebrations and rituals.

In rituals, apples can be used as offerings to deities, particularly those associated with harvest and wisdom, such as Demeter or Mabon ap Modron. You might also use apples in your spellwork for clarity, insight, and health. Carving symbols or intentions into the skin of an apple before consuming it or placing it on your altar can imbue it with magical intent.

For your Mabon feast, you can make all sorts of apple dishes, from apple pies and tarts to spiced apple cider. These treats not only celebrate the harvest but also bring a sense of warmth and comfort as the season shifts. Including apples in your meal is a delicious way to honour the abundance and wisdom of the equinox.

Squash and Pumpkins.

Squash and pumpkins are abundant during this time and symbolise nourishment and the harvest’s bounty. These hardy fruits and vegetables are staples of autumn, representing the culmination of the growing season and the sustenance they provide. The presence of squash and pumpkins in Mabon celebrations highlights themes of abundance, gratitude, and the nourishment that sustains us through the colder months.

Include squash and pumpkins in your meals to fully embrace the spirit of the harvest. They can be used in soups, stews, and roasted dishes, adding rich, earthy flavours to your Mabon feast. These foods are not only nourishing but also embody the essence of the season, making them perfect for celebratory meals.

Beyond food, squash and pumpkins make beautiful and meaningful decorations for your home and altar. Carved pumpkins, filled with candles or inscribed with protective symbols, can serve as both light and spiritual protection. Small gourds and decorative squash can be arranged on your altar to represent the bounty of the harvest and to honour the Earth’s generosity. Offering squash and pumpkins to your deities during your rituals is another way to give thanks for the abundance they have provided.

Nuts.

Nuts, especially hazelnuts and acorns, are symbols of wisdom and potential. These small but mighty foods have long been associated with knowledge, fertility, and the promise of growth. During Mabon, nuts represent the seeds of potential that we harvest and nurture as we prepare for the introspective period of winter.

In rituals, nuts can be used as offerings or tools for divination and spellwork. Hazelnuts, in particular, are linked to wisdom and can be incorporated into rituals seeking insight and clarity. Scatter nuts on your altar or include them in charm bags to harness their potent energy. Acorns, symbolising strength and potential, can be used in protective spells or carried as talismans.

Including nuts in your Mabon feast is a simple and nutritious way to celebrate the harvest. They can be enjoyed as a healthy snack, added to baked goods, or used as a garnish for autumnal dishes. Beyond their nutritional value, nuts remind us of the potential within every seed and the wisdom we gather throughout our lives. Incorporating them into your celebrations helps to ground your intentions and honour the gifts of the Earth.

Herbs.

Sage.

Sage is used for purification and protection, making it ideal for Mabon rituals. Its cleansing properties help to prepare your space for the coming darker months. Traditionally, sage has been used in various cultures for its powerful ability to clear negative energies and create a sacred space. As we move deeper into autumn, using sage can help us release any lingering negativity from the past year, allowing us to enter the new season with a clean slate.

Incorporate sage into your Mabon rituals by using it in ritual baths, and adding dried leaves to the water to purify your body and spirit. Additionally, placing sage leaves on your altar or in charm bags can enhance the protective and purifying energies of your Mabon celebrations.

Sage can also be used in cooking, infusing your meals with its earthy, aromatic flavour. Adding sage to your Mabon meals brings its protective properties into your body, reinforcing the theme of preparation and cleansing for the darker months ahead.

Rosemary.

Rosemary symbolises remembrance. This herb has been used throughout history to honour ancestors and loved ones, making it a perfect addition to your Mabon rituals. As we celebrate the second harvest festival, rosemary helps us to reflect on our connections with the past and the lessons we’ve learnt along the way.

In Mabon rituals, you can use rosemary to create a remembrance altar by placing sprigs of rosemary alongside photos or mementoes of your ancestors and loved ones to honour their memory. You can also incorporate rosemary into wreaths or garlands, symbolising the eternal bond between past and present. Burning rosemary as incense during your rituals can further connect you to the energies of remembrance and reflection.

Rosemary is also a great addition to your Mabon feast. Use it to season roasted vegetables, or breads, infusing your meal with its fragrant and comforting essence. Including rosemary in your cooking helps you to connect with the traditions and wisdom of those who came before you.

Thyme.

Thyme is associated with courage and strength, making it the perfect herb for Mabon celebrations. As we prepare for the winter months, thyme can help bolster our resolve and fortify our spirits. This hardy herb has been revered for its protective and empowering properties, often used in rituals to invoke bravery and perseverance.

Incorporate thyme into your Mabon rituals by using it in spellwork and charm bags. Create a sachet filled with dried thyme and other protective herbs to carry with you or place on your altar, enhancing your courage and strength. You can also use thyme in ritual baths, adding the herb to the water to infuse yourself with its empowering energy.

Thyme is also a versatile herb in the kitchen, adding a robust flavour to a variety of dishes. Use thyme to season soups, stews, and roasted vegetables, bringing its grounding and strengthening properties into your Mabon feast. Including thyme in your meals not only nourishes your body but also reinforces the themes of courage and resilience, helping you to face the coming months with confidence and strength.

Crystals.

Citrine.

Citrine, with its warm yellow hue, is a stone of abundance and personal power. Known as the “Merchant’s Stone,” citrine is revered for its ability to attract wealth, success, and prosperity. This crystal’s vibrant energy is perfect for rituals focusing on gratitude and manifestation, aligning with Mabon’s themes of harvest and abundance.

Incorporate citrine into your Mabon rituals by placing it on your altar to draw in positive energy and enhance your manifestation work. Meditating with citrine can help you focus on your intentions and goals, amplifying your efforts to bring them to fruition. You can also carry a piece of citrine with you to maintain a constant flow of abundance and confidence throughout the day.

Citrine’s energy is also excellent for boosting your personal power and self-esteem. During Mabon, as you reflect on the fruits of your labour, use citrine to reinforce your sense of accomplishment and to set intentions for future success. Its sunny disposition will remind you of the light and warmth that still surrounds you, even as the days grow shorter.

Amethyst.

Amethyst is known for its calming and balancing properties, making it ideal for meditation and reflection during Mabon. This beautiful purple stone has been used for centuries to promote spiritual growth, clarity of mind, and emotional balance. Its soothing energy can help you maintain inner peace and focus as you prepare for the introspective months ahead.

Use amethyst in your Mabon rituals by placing it on your altar to create a gentle and balanced atmosphere. Meditating with amethyst can enhance your spiritual awareness and help you gain insight into your personal journey. Its calming influence makes it an excellent companion for rituals that involve deep reflection and connection with your higher self.

Amethyst can also be used to aid in sleep and dream work. Place a piece of amethyst under your pillow or on your bedside table to promote restful sleep and vivid, insightful dreams. This can be particularly helpful during Mabon, as the equinox encourages us to balance our active lives with moments of rest and reflection.

Smoky Quartz.

Smoky quartz is grounding and protective, making it another great crystal for Mabon. This powerful stone is known for its ability to anchor energy and protect against negativity, which is especially important as we transition into the darker half of the year. Smoky quartz’s deep, earthy tones resonate with the stability and grounding energy of the Earth, reinforcing our connection to the land.

Incorporate smoky quartz into your Mabon rituals by using it to create a protective grid around your home or altar. Meditating with smoky quartz can help you release negative energies and find a sense of calm and stability amidst the seasonal changes. Its grounding properties make it an excellent stone for centering yourself and staying balanced during this time of transition.

Smoky quartz can also be used in protective charm bags or worn as jewellery to shield against negative influences and keep you grounded. By integrating smoky quartz into your Mabon celebrations, you can enhance your resilience and ensure that you remain anchored and protected as you move into the introspective months ahead.

Symbols.

Cornucopia.

The cornucopia, or horn of plenty, is a classic symbol of abundance and nourishment. Traditionally depicted as a horn overflowing with fruits, vegetables, and grains, it represents the bounty of the harvest and the prosperity that comes from the Earth’s generosity. The cornucopia not only represents abundance but is also a reminder to appreciate and give thanks for the plenty in our lives.

Add a cornucopia to your Mabon celebrations by using it as a central decoration on your altar or dining table. Fill it with seasonal produce such as apples, squash, nuts, and berries to honour the harvest and the gifts of the Earth. You can also use the cornucopia in rituals to symbolise your gratitude and to attract continued abundance. As you arrange the contents of your cornucopia, take a moment to reflect on the blessings you’ve received and to set intentions for the prosperity you wish to cultivate in the future.

Creating your own cornucopia can be a fun activity, connecting you more deeply with the spirit of Mabon. Whether you craft one from natural materials or use a pre-made horn, the act of filling it with seasonal offerings can be a powerful ritual of gratitude and celebration.

Scales.

Scales symbolise balance, a key theme of Mabon. The autumn equinox is a time when day and night are equal, highlighting the importance of equilibrium in our lives. Scales remind us of the need to maintain the balance between light and dark, work and rest, giving and receiving. They encourage us to find harmony within ourselves and in our interactions with the world around us.

Incorporate scales into your Mabon rituals to focus on restoring balance in various aspects of your life. Place a set of scales on your altar as a visual representation of equilibrium and use them to meditate on areas where you may need to create more harmony. You can also use the scales in divination practices to gain insight into how you can achieve greater balance.

During Mabon, think about rituals that involve balancing objects on the scales, such as stones or other natural items, to symbolise finding and maintaining balance. Reflect on the areas of your life that feel out of sync and set intentions to bring them into alignment. By focusing on balance during Mabon, you can enter the darker months with a sense of harmony and peace.

Harvest Moon.

The Harvest Moon, which often occurs around Mabon, symbolises the culmination of the harvest. Its bright, full light is a reminder of the abundance and the cycles of nature. The Harvest Moon has historically provided farmers with extra light to gather crops, symbolising a time of hard work and reward. For those celebrating Mabon, the Harvest Moon represents the peak of the harvest season and the fruits of our labour.

Incorporate the energy of the Harvest Moon into your Mabon celebration by holding a moonlit ritual or meditation. The full moon’s light can enhance your connection to the cycles of nature and amplify your intentions for gratitude and abundance. Use this time to reflect on what you have harvested in your life, both physically and spiritually, and to give thanks for these blessings.

You can also use the Harvest Moon as a focal point in your rituals, drawing down its energy to empower your spells and intentions. Create a moon altar with items that symbolise the harvest and abundance, and spend time under the moonlight to absorb its nurturing and illuminating energy. The Harvest Moon serves as a powerful reminder of the cycles of nature and the continuous flow of growth and renewal.

Deities.

Mabon ap Modron.

Mabon ap Modron, the Welsh god of light and son of the Earth Mother goddess Modron, is central to this festival. His story is one of rebirth and renewal, making him a fitting deity to honour during Mabon, a time of balance and harvest. Mabon was said to have been stolen from his mother three days after his birth and later rescued by King Arthur and his knights. This tale of captivity and release symbolises the cyclical nature of the seasons and the balance between light and darkness.

Honouring Mabon ap Modron during Mabon can be done through rituals of gratitude and balance. Create an altar dedicated to him, adorned with symbols of light and harvest such as candles, sunflowers, and harvested grains. Offerings of seasonal fruits, vegetables, and grains can be made to honour his role in the harvest. Meditate on the themes of rebirth and renewal, reflecting on how you can bring balance into your own life.

You can also celebrate Mabon by engaging in activities that symbolise the harvest and the light he represents. Spend time outdoors, gather with loved ones for a harvest feast, and share stories and memories that reflect the themes of the season. By honouring Mabon ap Modron, you connect with the ancient rhythms of the Earth and the cycles of nature.

Persephone.

Persephone, the Greek goddess of the underworld and spring, represents the cyclical nature of life and death. Her myth, where she spends part of the year in the underworld with Hades and the other part on Earth with her mother Demeter, symbolises the balance between light and dark, growth and decay. Persephone’s story is particularly resonant during Mabon, a time when we honour the balance of the equinox and prepare for the darker months ahead.

Honouring Persephone during Mabon involves acknowledging the changing seasons and the balance between light and dark. Create a ritual that includes both light and dark elements, such as lighting candles and placing dark stones or crystals on your altar. Offer pomegranates, a fruit associated with Persephone, as a symbol of her descent into the underworld and her return to the Earth.

Meditate on the themes of transformation and renewal, reflecting on how the cycles of life and death play out in your own life. You can also perform a ritual to honour Persephone by planting seeds or bulbs, symbolising the life that will emerge after the darkness of winter. By connecting with Persephone, you embrace the natural cycles and prepare yourself for the introspective time ahead.

Demeter.

Demeter, the Greek goddess of the harvest, can be honoured for her role in providing the abundance we celebrate during Mabon. As the mother of Persephone, Demeter’s story is deeply intertwined with the changing seasons and the cycles of growth and decay. Her grief during Persephone’s absence causes the barren winter months, while her joy upon her return brings about the fertile spring and summer.

To honour Demeter during Mabon, create an altar with offerings of grains, fruits, and flowers. These offerings symbolise the abundance and fertility she provides. Include symbols of the harvest, such as wheat sheaves and cornucopias, to represent the fruits of her labour. You can also bake bread or prepare a meal using seasonal produce as an offering to Demeter, expressing gratitude for the nourishment she provides.

Rituals to honour Demeter can focus on gratitude and the cycles of nature. Spend time outdoors, acknowledging the changing landscape and the gifts of the harvest. Reflect on the ways in which you have grown and what you have harvested in your own life. By giving thanks to Demeter, you honour the Earth’s bounty and the cycles of growth and renewal that sustain us.

A Look At The Various Path of the Craft – Faery Witchcraft c. 2018

What is a Faery Witch?

Galadriel in Lord of the Rings is a typical Faery Witch. The swan is a common totem for us as well. Here Galadriel is like the Lady of the Lake in the Arthurian Mythos.

Characteristics of the Fledgling Faery Witch

*A Faery witch is one who has a special affinity to the Faeries, especially those who are the spectres of the ancestors and the Old Gods.

*Unlike Witches initiated into Wiccan traditions such as the Gardnerian and Alexandrian paths, the Faery Witch is one whose talent comes from deep communion with nature alone. There is no necessity to connect to a line of initiates to become a channel for power. The connection is through the Fay who work through the land and the imagination.

*I believe the Faery Witch is one who has traveled between the Faery and Mortal realms for many lifetimes. Therefore, she or he has a natural ability to ‘see’ spirits in the wilds, is drawn trees, rocks, hills, the turning of the seasons, the moon, and the waters. One such as this will have an innate desire to return ‘home’ in dreams and waking reveries, and maybe even to try to bridge the worlds so that the Faeries can access the Mortal Plane.

Do you want to train your Second Sight?

*Wiccans use many branches of Magic to forge their consciousness and work their enchantments. They often begin with woodland pantheons and expand into other occult traditions and ceremonial magic . As I am not initiated into the Wiccan traditions, I cannot say more. The Faery Witch more often defaults back into communing with the Fay.

*The Faery Witch may be content to walk across the land with intent and heightened consciousness to feel the workings of magic. The relationship between the Witch and the Fay is the magic.

* Animals trust Faery Witches and will communicate with us telepathically.

*Faery Witches are usually drawn to the Arthurian and Holy Grail Mythos. This is because one of main branches of Faery, the Tuathaa de Danaan are Grail Keepers. Many of the stories and myths that came to comprise Arthurian Romance were drawn from the visions of Faery Seers, or Bardic Poets.

*Faery Witches often have poetic talents. Visionary language comes naturally to them.

* Faery Witches do not like iron! Therefore swords are not part of our Magical Regalia.

* Young Faery Witches love Faeries. They also understand what Faeries are at deeper levels than those who may like Faeries but are not Faery Witches.

*Faery Witches are not afraid of disturbing psychic images and undercurrents. We are drawn to the mystery.

Faery Glamour

I like to think that Faery Witches have a special glamor of beauty and youth, a quality of stillness and mystery.

*This comes from reading Grimm’s Fairy tales about beautiful Enchantresses and Princesses, the ethereal Faery Queens of Arthurian Romance, legends and folk lore. We must never let ourselves go, or the glamor will be lost. Once the glamor is lost, our power can go with it. For what is glamor but the creation and maintenance of our Magical Self?

* Even as she ages, the Faery Witch exudes the quality of beauty, sexuality, and charm.

* Sometimes alliance with the Faery can take over one’s life. This may cause isolation and loneliness as most others are put off for some reason. It is difficult to inhabit many worlds at the same time.

*We must always guard against psychic attack, for we seem fragile even when we are very strong. This quality disrupts the assumptions of those who would overpower us, inciting their drive to engage in battle.

*The ability of the Faery Witch to see  and communicate with the Unseen endows him or her with the ability to heal others. Alliances with the Fay increase the effectiveness of Faery Healing.

Can Faery Witchcraft be Learned?

Joanne Sanow

Can studying Faery Witchcraft cause any harm?

*No. The mind will absorb the lessons in its own measure. Even if one does not develope psychic powers, exposure to the Faery Realm inspires the heart and is a well of creativity that anyone can drawn upon. You can be as you were meant to be and still wear the Glamor of a Faery Witch.

*Psychic Protection is part of the training. Harmless Psychic Self Defense is valuable to everyone.

How old do you have to be to become a Faery Witch?

Old enough to read and carry out exercises. Young people are much closer to Faery than jaded, stressed out adults. Early tuition in Faery Magic can help one cope with life as one ages with a constant sense of curiosity and wonder. There are endless subjects to explore. For this reason, the Faeryland is called the Summer Land, or Land of Eternal Youth.

Faery Wicca

Faery Wicca is also known as Fairy Wicca and it is basically a broad term that consists of all the Wiccan traditions that stresses importance on the Fey (such as sprites, faeries, elves, gnomes, etc), the relation of the Fey with the natural world and also their teachings. Originally written about by the author, Kisma Stepanich. Believers of this tradition are of the opinion that this type of Wicca has originated from the Tuatha De Danaan traditions. </ahref=”view_category.asp?cat=30″>

The Tuatha De Danaan is considered to be the mythological predecessor of the Celts to many although, there are some who are not of the same opinion.

Faery Wicca is a belief that has taken some elements from the Irish mythology, from different non-Celtic sources and also from the interpretation of the history of the Celts by Kisma Stepanich. This belief has also been influenced by the author’s imagination of the Celts as well as the Celtic legend and pseudo history. There are some people who often confuse this with Feri Wicca, a tradition started by Victor Anderson.

Faery Wicca has been inspired by the customs and practices of the modern Celts as well as the ancient Celts. This tradition has more similarities with other modern Wiccan traditions and non-Wiccan traditions. It does not share that many similarities with ‘Fairy Faith’ that it is commonly referred to as in the conventional Gaelic cultures. The followers of the Faery Wicca worship a number of deities and the chief Goddess is none other than the androgynous Star Goddess. The other deities that are worshiped are the various aspects of the primary Goddess and these deities are:

  • The Crone.
  • The Winter King.
  • The Blue God.
  • The Great Mother.
  • The Harvest Lord.
  • The Corn Maiden.

This belief is said to have seven guardians and they are generally called upon at the time of casting the circle. The guardians of the North and West are believed to be female where as the guardians of the South and East are believed to be male. Nobody knows their real names but each of them have a public name which are as follows:

  • Guardian of the Gates.
  • Star Finder.
  • Fire in the Earth.
  • Shining Flame.
  • Heaven Shiner.
  • Black Mother.
  • Water Maker.

There is no doubt that there are few similarities between the Faery Wicca and other Wiccan traditions like appreciation of creativeness, love for beauty and respect for nature. While it maintains some similarities, there a number of customs that differ from the traditional Wiccan Spellcastings.

One of the many differences between this tradition and others is that with Faery Wicca it encourages risking to a greater extent as compared to the other Wiccan customs. It is often said that they follow a different set of rules, then other followers of traditional Wicca. The practitioners of this form of Wicca view themselves as Fey and this means that they are neither black nor white.

You may not know this but possession is practiced in this form of Wicca. The followers believe that Gods are real and the morality system that the Gods have are quite dissimilar from the one that human beings have. Faery tradition can be considered as the mystery tradition that has direct contact with the heavenly and it is also a tradition of ecstasy, power and danger.

Last but not the least, I would like to say that while this tradition is exciting and beautiful, not everyone can be what it takes to be a practitioner of this Wicca and it most certainly is not for the faint-hearted.

Faery Wicca

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Faery Wicca, or Fairy Wicca, is any tradition of modern Wicca that places an emphasis on the Fey (goblins, elves, faeries, sprites, etc.), their lore, and their relation to the natural world.

“Faery Wicca” may also refer to a specific tradition of Wicca, recently founded by author Kisma Stepanich. Adherents of Stepanich’s Faery Wicca claim that it recovers the traditions of the Tuatha De Danaan, the mythological precursors to the Celtic people; however, this is disputed by those familiar with ancient Celtic polytheism and mythology. Stepanich’s Faery Wicca draws liberally on some degree of Irish mythology, from the author’s interpretation of Celtic history, legend, pseudohistory, imagination, and a variety of non-Celtic sources.

Faery Wicca is not related to the late Victor Anderson’s Feri Tradition of witchcraft, which is sometimes also spelled Faery or Fairy, nor is it directly related to the gay men’s group, the Radical Faeries. Though Faery Wicca may draw inspiration from some of the customs practiced among the ancient and modern Celts, it shares more with other modern Wiccan traditions than with the “Fairy Faith” as it is known in traditional Gaelic culture

Bury it deep in an earth-filled pot,
