“Think on These Things”

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’
By Joyce Sequichie Hifler

Before we can share with others, we must have something to share. And all of us do have something to give. Not material things, but we can share our peace and our love and our loyalty.

Before we can share with others, there must be others with whom to share. For if we are selfish and self-centered enough, we will never have to worry about sharing anything. We will be alone.

Before we can expect others to share with us, we must be capable of accepting. We must be worthy of others who desire to share with us; we must deserve their love.

Before the two of us can ever find anything in this world of mutual interest, we must have enough concern and enough love to feel a need within to produce something good enough to offer; not only to others, but to ourselves. If we have abused our own nature with thoughts of bitterness, harboring painful experiences, self-condemnation for little progress regardless of circumstances, then we have nothing to offer.

The French philosopher Achille Poincelot once said, “Some people think that all the world should share their misfortunes, though they do not share in the sufferings of anyone else.”

August 12 – Daily Feast

August 12 – Daily Feast

Time and space mean nothing to friends. They find each other again and again, to share the things that are important – and a great many things that are ordinary, everyday events. Tsu na li I, friends or close ones, forgive us whether we deserve it or not. They know how easy it is to get off center. But they have high hopes for us – maybe even higher than we have for ourselves. We are at our best when someone chooses to be that kind of friend, to make allowances for our lapses of memory – for no other reason than precious, loyal friendship. It is a quiet, peaceful and dear relationship that never grows old and never ends. Being such a friend is a sweet and blessed responsibility.

Dancing with Dragons

Dancing with Dragons

The sun is out. The day is bright.

The dragons dance upon the grass

And trees and flowers brilliant.

On the winds they pass.

In and out among the clouds

They frolic in the light,

Sliding down the sunbeams,

Dragons crystal bright.

When the Sun has passed beyond

Mountains turned purple-blue,

The dragons dance on through the night

On strands of Moon-lit dew.

They dance to strains of music

Unheard by human ears,

As they have danced through eons,

Untouched by human years.

Teach me, lovely dragons,

To dance with joy life’s plan,

To life myself to higher planes

Above the limits of common man.

Brain Power Spell

Brain Power Spell

For this spell you need a yellow candle, some rosemary oil, and a carving instrument. Carve the word “clarity” lengthwise on one side of the candle, and on the other side carve the word “logic.” Repeat with the words “memory” and “concentration.” Anoint the candle with rosemary oil. Hold the candle to your mouth and whisper:

I set your task
To bring forth what I ask:
Improved memory,
And perfect clarity.
I concentrate longer,
My logic is stronger,
With goodwill to all
And harm to none.
As I speak it
So it is done!

Repeat the chant nine times. Allow the candle to burn out. Save some of the hardened wax drippings for use in sachets.

(names of you and your ex -lover) will forever part.
(Say a name of any person you like now (if you like anyone) or name of a
person that he might like…) will forever see
that he/she is the one for me.
Let the spell do it’s work and send a new love interest and let the hurt

Pennyroyal

Folk Names:  European Pennyroyal, Lurk-In-The-Ditch, Mosquito Plant, Organ Broth, Organs, Organ Tea, Piliolerian, Pudding Grass, Run-By-The-Ground, Squaw Mint, Tickweed

Gender: Masculine

Planet: Mars

Element: Fire

Magickal Uses: Pennyroyal placed in the shoe prevents weariness during travel and strengthens the body in general.

Stomach problems can be alleviated by stuffing a green poppet with mint and annointing it with healing oils

When worn it acts against the evil eye and aids in making business deals.

To rid a place of evil, sprinkle salt water with a sprinkler made of fresh sprigs of mint, marjoram, and rosemary.

When given to quarreling couples it will cause them to cease their fighting, and so pennyroyal is a herb of peace. Pennyroyal is kept in the home (away from pets and children) for protection. It is also carried on board ships to prevent seasickness.

Deity of the Day for August 4th is Loki

Loki

God of Hokey Pokey and one of the world’s major Trickster Gods.

In his early days LOKI was a rascal; crafty, sneaky, silly and malicious — a Loki The Lad. The son of two Giants, he was so outrageously mischievous that he even sneaked his way into becoming a God. He was the first Anti-Hero, quick-witting his way out of the tight corners and confrontations caused by his misdeeds. But as time wore on he became increasingly nasty.

His first escapade was a very rampant romp. When the Gods were struggling to build ASGARD, they found they’d run out of funds. Which is not surprising as money and banks hadn’t been invented yet. All the basic construction had been completed but they needed a large protective wall to keep the riff-raff out.

LOKI came up with the plan of contracting a Giant to do the job. As payment, the Giant asked for the Sun and Moon and also the Goddess FREYA if the work was completed to schedule. The Gods were not too sure. “Don’t worry,” advised LOKI. “He’ll never manage it on his own, even if he works night and day — and the deal will be off. We’ll let him keep the wheelbarrow or something.”

Alas, the Giant was not on his own. He had a huge stallion called Svadilfari, which could haul boulders like there was no tomorrow. With three days to go, FREYA was in distress and the Gods aghast.

Now LOKI, like fire and smoke, was a shape-changer from the word go. A talent he’d developed to make him the shiftiest transmogrifier of all time — from flea to fish to fast flying feathers in 0.3 seconds. So he changed himself into a mare and seduced the Giant’s stallion. By whinnying and prancing off into the woods, Svadilfari was led far away from the stone pile.

With his horse missing, the Giant didn’t quite make the schedule. Seething with rage, he tried to take FREYA by force — until THOR cracked his skull with his hammer.

Meanwhile LOKI was having a fine old time frolicking in the fields. In fact he became pregnant, and decided to sample the joys of motherhood. He gave birth to a fine baby boy stallion with eight legs. He gave this as a gift to ODIN and it was called SLEIPNIR.

LOKI was now well in with top God ODIN and his son THOR, with whom he shared numerous adventures. THOR, the perfect fall guy, was persuaded to appear in drag as the prospective bride of a giant and other embarrassments. THOR could always be relied on to supply the muscle when corners became too tight for trickery.

LOKI had many run-ins with the dwarves, which he cheated at any opportunity until they stitched him up. Literally. They stitched his mouth shut, which kept him quiet for quite some time.

LOKI never missed an opportunity to take advantage of any Goddess, despite already having had three wives. The first not many folk know about, and it is only by assiduous research we have discovered GLUT, who bore two daughters EINMYRIA and EISA.

Next was ANGRBODA, a giantess who spawned FENRIR the Giant Wolf, JORMUNGAND the Earth-encircling Serpent, and HEL the Underworld Goddess. Finally there was his wife SIGYN, who produced their ill-fated sons NARVI and VALI(2).

For further LOKI adventures, click your way to ANDVARI, FAFNIR, GEIRROD, THIASSI and BALDUR. And check out our Loki Trickster Wearables! We are still investigating the mysterious theft of FREYA’s precious necklace Brisingamen when a flea was seen to flee the scene. As a well-known God of bed-hopping, fingers of suspicion are already pointing at you-know-who.

As the most scandalous God of all time, LOKI was seldom out of the Nordic News or the Sunday Runes. But his tricks came to an end after causing the death of BALDUR. Now he’s trapped in eternal punishment until RAGNAROK rolls around.

Your Deck of Ancient Symbols Card for Today

Love

Love indicates that love is either present in our life or a distinct possibility. Be open to all possibilities, remembering that true love is given freely, without condition, and does not have to be earned. This is the kind of love we want to welcome into our life and to give to others. Be open to new ideas, and beware of judging against someone in an unloving manner. When Love appears, return to the place where you can love yourself and then seek out the same love from others.

As a daily card, Love suggests that for those who are currently in a relationship the opportunity to deepen the bond is present. For those who are single, Love implies that the prospect for them to begin a romantic relationship is very strong at this time.

Ritual to Journey To the Universal Circle

Adapted from The Cherokee Full Circle, by J.T. Garrett and Michael Tlanusta Garrett (Inner Traditions, 2002).The Universal Circle, a symbol of balance and harmony, is included in every aspect of the Native American way of life. In many Native American traditions, to “offer prayers” means calling out to the four winds for their sacred powers, since the four winds offer lessons from the four directions that make up the Universal Circle.

Each of us experiences this Circle and the four directions as we continue our journey of life. What are the lessons of the four directions? How do we experience this powerful image of wholeness? Find out here:

Circle of Life
The circle of life begins with the fire in the center, the birth, that spirals into the direction of the East for the protection of family while developing.

Then life spirals to the direction of the South to learn how to play, “and to learn of the fairness of games in nature.”

At about the age of seven we start our spiral to the direction of the West, where we learn competition and endurance for work and play through the teen years.

Then we spiral to the direction of the North, where we learn the skills and knowledge of an adult to be a teacher and master of our abilities or trade. We continue to spiral until we reach our elder years as we return to the sacred fire of life, to begin again the spirit world as ancestors.

This is the Universal Circle of life that brings us the understanding of our connections with all things within that circle.

Deity of the Day for July 24 is ARISTAEUS

Today’s featured entity is:

ARISTAEUS

The deity from Greek Mythology

Pastoral God. Particularly keen on Honey and Dairy produce.

The son of CYRENE and APOLLO, he had a good education thanks to being taught by the Centaur CHIRON and a team of NYMPHS. Fond of country pursuits, ARISTAEUS grew olives and went in for bee-keeping in a big way. He also cultivated the art of curdling milk and may have made the first goat’s milk cheese. We go to enormous lengths to cater for all tastes.

ARISTAEUS married a daughter of CADMUS and had a son Acteon, who upset ARTEMIS and was sadly eaten. ARISTAEUS himself was fond of pursuing nymphs and DRYADS — particularly EURYDICE. It was running away from his advances that caused her to tread on a viper with such tragic results.

The DRYADS (her ilk) sought revenge by killing all his bees. He ran to Mother who sent him to PROTEUS, who had to be restrained before he would consent to do anything. Then four bulls and four heifers had to be sacrificed — and then there was a big buzz as swarms of bees emerged from each carcase.

Binding Someone Annoying Spell

While you do this visualize the face of the person on your mind. When you have written the name cross it with an inverted pentacle (5 pointed star within a circle).

This magic charm i will do,
With this words i bind thee,
For you to let me be,
To be protected from your harm,
I now seal this charm”.
Now place the paper on your right shoe and slam your foot on the ground nine times (doesn’t have to be so loud that everyone hears it) As you slam it the ninth time say…
SO MOTE IT BE
