Voodoo/Hoodoo – Making Magickal Oils
As a general rule, you can use the following method for creating magickal anointing oils. In a mortar and pestle, pour two ounces of your base oil (olive, almond, grapeseed, etc.) and then add the herbs and other ingredients. Gently crush the ingredients and transfer the mixture to an airtight container and store in a dark place. After four days, check the oil to see if the fragrance is to the desired strength. If it is, then you can either strain the oil with cheesecloth into your final container, or simply leave everything together. Store in a dark place. If you do not have the right aromatic strength, then strain the oil in cheesecloth back into your mortar, add enough of your base oil to bring it back to 2 ounces, and repeat the process of adding your ingredients, crushing them into the oil, and storing away for three days at a time. Repeat this as many times as necessary to achieve the desired strength.
Some herbs and resins are more readily absorbed than others. If you have an essential oil of an herb used in a recipe, you can add some to the recipe to enhance the aroma, as well. Be sure to add a few drops of tincture of Benzoin to your oils or they will go rancid (unless you are using jojoba oil as a base).
Precautions
Please note that it is always possible to have an allergic reaction to any oil or oil blend. A skin patch test should be conducted prior to using any essential oil that will have contact with the skin. This is to determine if you may be allergic or have a sensitization reaction to the oil.
1)Keep all essential oils out of the reach of children and pets.
2)Pregnant women and persons with health problems must consult doctor.
3)Essential oils should never be used undiluted on the skin.
4)Essential oils should not be taken internally.
5)Products made with natural ingredients may still cause allergic reactions with some individuals. When using oils on skin, be aware of any reactions that seem to be happening, and take first aid measures immediately. Flush the area with a lot of clean water and seek medical attention. Take the same steps (flush with clean water, seek medical help) if you spill undiluted essentials on yourself, or get them in your eyes, nose, mouth or an open wound.
Working with essential oils requires knowing the properties of the oils and being aware of the safety issues about the oils you use. For your convenience, I have compiled a list of essential oils based on information is from Julia Lawless book The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Essential Oils: The Complete Guide to the Use of Oils in Aromatherapy and Herbalism(Illustrated Encyclopedia). Spell for Today – 9-Day Money-Drawing (“Novena”) Spell to Attract Good Fortune
9-Day Money-Drawing (“Novena”) Spell to Attract Good Fortune
This is a money ritual that should be done over the course of nine days, inspired by the traditional Catholic “novenas”, a type of candle ritual practiced around the world – including Africa, Latin America and the Philippines – which is believed to have its origins in an early Greek and Roman tradition.
It can be done at any time of the day, although it should be done with faith and determination every day at the same time for a total of 9 days.
Why this Spell Works
- In this spell, the green candle represents the money and wealth you want to attract to your life, and the white candle represents you. Click here to learn more about Candle Magic.
- This spell also includes a traditional Wiccan chant for money known as “Money come to me”. Consider this ritual an amalgamation of Magical traditions, perfect for Eclectic Wiccans.
Feel free to modify the chant, replace it with a money prayer of your own tradition, or make any changes you want before adding it to your own book of shadows.

Coll
C, sometimes read as K, is Coll, which is the Hazel tree. August is known as the Hazel Moon, because this is when Hazel nuts appear on the trees–the world Coll translates to “the life force inside you”, and what better symbol of life than the nut itself? Hazel is associated with wisdom and creativity and knowledge. Sometimes it is connected in Celtic lore with magical springs, sacred wells, and divination.
Hazel was a handy tree to have around. It was used by many English pilgrims to make staffs for use upon the road–not only was it a sturdy walking stick, it also provided a modicum of self-defense for weary travelers. Certainly, it could have been used as well for ritual. Hazel was used in weaving of baskets by medieval folk, and the leaves were fed to cattle because it was believed this would increase the cow’s supply of milk.
In the Irish myth cycles, there is a tale that nine hazel nuts dropped into a sacred pool. A salmon came along in the pool and gobbled up the nuts, which then imbued him with wisdom. A variation of the story appears in the legend of Finn Mac Cumhail, who ate the salmon and then took on the knowledge and wisdom of the fish. Note that Mac Cumhail is often translated as Mac Coll.

Our guardian angels are quite creative in the way they communicate with people. Never one to converse directly, they usually speak to us in the form of signs, symbols, and numbers.
Now, these numbers called angel numbers carry special meanings that we must decipher into normal language; only then can we receive and interpret our messages from the celestial beings properly.
Angels can find solutions to problems from different perspectives—perspectives that are beyond our imagination.
After all, unlike us, our angels are not limited by time nor space. They can look at a problem from different angles and guide us in the right direction.
So, if you see angel numbers, decipher them and adhere to the suggestions provided. There are many such numbers but today, let’s talk about angel number 14.

GENERAL
Three of Wands – Minor Arcana
This energy must be patient and trusting, because he or she will have to wait some time to find out how the ships have fared. Meanwhile, a lot of resources are tied up until they return with the bounty. Only those truly confident in their ideas and abilities would undertake such a risk. This card represents the energy a person needs to take on great adventures and accomplish noble (and remunerative) deeds.
A detail that sometimes appears in the more esoteric Tarots is a winged wand with two snakes twining around it, called the Caduceus, which is Mercury’s wand. This is an ancient symbol of the healer or shaman, one who can travel between the worlds to rescue souls from death or possession. Perhaps the feeling of empowerment this card represents points to the internal mechanisms of self-healing. Perhaps it refers to the courage it takes to be an entrepreneur or an inventor, which is in itself a magical process — bringing not only opportunity for success, but also an awakening to higher potentials.

The Wheel of Fortune – Major Arcana

Health

King of Wands – Major Arcana
This suit, most often called “Wands” and sometimes called “Rods” or “Staves,” represents initiative, ambition, drive and desire. This is the suit of enterprise and risk-taking.
Traditionally representing the energy of a dynamic King, this card represents the classic conquering hero. He’s a charismatic leader, entrepreneurial and ambitious, always creating new adventures. He does this because he doesn’t like to stay home or to have to “mind the store” — he gets to feeling restless and bored with the predictable. If you need a crusader, or someone to take on a big challenge, he’s your man. He needs a big assignment, and would rather lead than follow.
It could be said that he has a bit of an ego, as evidenced in his enjoyment of flattery and praise. A bit of a performer, he overachieves in situations where it will be noticed, but in private he wants to be served and adored like the head lion of a pride. A benevolent dictator, he makes life wonderful for those he loves and just the opposite for those who displease him.

Finances

Eight of Wands – Minor Arcana
This suit, most often called “Wands” and sometimes called “Rods” or “Staves,” represents initiative, ambition, drive and desire. This is the suit of enterprise and risk-taking.
The Eight of this suit often shows a flight of spears or staffs moving through the air in formation, as if a hidden group of archers had let them fly all at once. This can refer to swiftly unfolding events, whether of unintentional or intentional design. There are also versions that emphasize the agricultural cycle, paralleling the yearly crop cycle with the swift growth of children into adults with children of their own.
In each case, the emphasis is on the necessity of change and the challenge of keeping up with it. With the turning of the seasons, we are constantly being forced to deal with change and there is no remedy but to live with that in mind. So, get busy — there is no time to waste!

Medieval Medicine: The Four Humors
(SIDE NOTE: This was practice by almost every “doctor” but the village Wise Woman or Witch. For Star Trek watchers can you try to imagine how barbaric this type of medical practice was to Dr McCoy?)
It’s indisputable that medicine has come a long way in the last 200 years, but do you know just how many advances have been made? Prior to the 19th century, medical practice was based largely on what ancient Greeks termed “the four humors,” an idea formally introduced by Hippocrates way back in the 4th century BC.
The four humors were thought to be sanguine (blood), choleric (yellow bile), melancholic (black bile), and phlegmatic (phlegm) and their composition within the body was considered to determine a patient’s personality and health concerns. Every human body was thought to contain some measure of each of these humors. Let’s take a closer look!
The Four Humors
Sanguine (Blood)
Sanguine humor was associated with the season spring and the element air.
Character traits related to a sanguine temperament include courage, hope, and playfulness.
An excess of this humor was considered to be present if medical symptoms included fever and/or sweating.
Medical professionals thought that in order to cure this problem they needed to bleed the patient. Doctors often did this using leeches. No thanks!
Choleric (Yellow Bile)
The choleric humor was typically thought to cause restlessness and aggression.
It was associated with the element fire and the summer season. Interestingly, chamomile, which is currently often used in teas meant to calm and relax you, was frequently used to treat what was perceived to be an excess of this humor.
Melancholic (Black Bile)
Autumn is the season that was considered to be closely related to melancholic humor, and it was thought to represent the element earth.
People with a tendency to be introverted, serious, or sad/depressed were thought to have too much black bile.
This was commonly associated with dietary or digestive concerns.
To treat an excess of black bile, doctors might attempt to force patients to purge, or throw up!
Phlegmatic (Phlegm)
The phlegmatic temperament was associated with the winter season and with the element water.
Those who were thought to be predominantly phlegmatic were considered peaceful, calm, and thoughtful.
Too much phlegm may be present if a patient had respiratory, cough and cold, or energy problems.
Treatment for this was not as dramatic as some of the other humors – physicians may have recommended consuming more fluids and reducing stress.
The four humors dominated medical practice for thousands for years – they were thought to determine every person’s health, personality, and behavior. Although this theory is no longer in use, there are things that medical professionals have learned from it, such as the use of herbs to alleviate symptoms of some illnesses. Personally, I’m just glad that no doctors is coming to my house with leeches!

Goddess – Circa (Greek)
Circa (Greek) c. 2011 Lady Abyss
“She-Falcon”. Dark Moon Goddess; Fate-Spinner. As the circle, or cirque, she was the fate-spinner, weaver of destinies. Ancient Greek writers spoke of her as Circe of the Braided Tresses because she could manipulate the forces of creation and destruction by knots and braids in her hair. Goddess of physical love, sorcery, enchantments, precognitive dreams, evil spells, vengeance, dark magic, witchcraft and cauldrons.

Circe
From greekgodsandgoddesses.net
In GREEK MYTHOLOGY, Circe was a goddess of magic, though she was sometimes depicted as a nymph (minor nature god), a witch or an enchantress.
In any case, she was associated with magic. She knew a lot about potions and herbs, and sometimes used this knowledge against her enemies and people who offended her, turning them into wild animals. She also had a wand or staff called the rhabdos which she also used to channel her magic. In fact, this was the earliest mention of a “magical wand or staff” in Western writings; it was referred to in Homer’s epic poem, the Odyssey, when Circe used it to turn Odysseus’s men into beasts.
Circe was the daughter of HELIOS, a TITAN who represented the Sun, and Perse, an ocean nymph. She was one of three thousand of her kind, daughters of TITANS OCEANUS and TETHYS. In another version, Circe was the daughter of HECATE, a goddess of sorcery.
She had two brothers. One was named Aeetes, and he looked after the GOLDEN FLEECE, a fleece that was the property of royalty. It was made from the wool of a golden ram with wings. Her second brother was PERSES.
PASIPHAE was her only sister, and she was the queen of the Greek island, CRETE, and also the wife of King Minos. It was also said that she gave birth to the MINOTAUR, a creature that was half man, half bull, with the head and horns of a cattle and the body of a man.
In some stories, Circe was exiled by her father Helios to live alone on AEAEA, a fictional island, as punishment for killing the prince of COLCHIS, who was her husband at the time.
She later had children with ODYSSEUS, the king of ITHACA from Homer’s writings. Her three sons were Ardeas, Latinus and Telegonus.

Witchcraft Symbols, Terms and Definitions – Healing Symbols
11 Powerful Healing Symbols and Their Meanings (With Images) from symbolsage.com
(I will be posting 1 symbol per day of the 11 )
A healing symbol is a mark, sign, word, or design that represents and reflects the art of healing. Historically, all cultures across the globe have had healing symbols.
They are used in medical rituals by practitioners and healers for strength and protection. Nowadays, people believe that visualizing healing symbols will lead to good thoughts, positive energy, and tranquillity. They can foster a greater harmony between the body, mind, and soul.
With that said, let’s take a look at popular healing symbols and their significance.
The Reiki symbols were founded by Mikao Usui, a Japanese medical practitioner, and healer. They are considered by some as the most sacred and powerful healing symbols in the world.
The Reiki Power symbol – Choku Rei
The Choku Rei is also called the power symbol. It is used to channel and direct energy within the body. The Choku Rei is drawn at the beginning and end of a healing process. It serves as a catalyst for physical healing and purification.
Since the Choku Rei is a power symbol, it can be combined with other symbols to strengthen the healing process. The Choku Rei can be drawn or visualized on a person, place, or thing, to fight off negative energy and protect the recipient.
