A Charm To Drive Away Evil

Take an iron nail, red-rusted by time and rain, and forged by hand in the ancient form (if such can be found); on a dark night, moonless and cloudy, set down this nail upon a smallish flat stone, and with an iron hammer strike it thrice, at each stroke saying this:

Clavus ferreus
Malleus ferreus
Ferrum rufulum
Ferrum nobilis

Score the stone thrice across with the nail’s point, then take the stone away quickly and bury it in the Earth far from your house. The nail should afterwards be carried with you always, as a charm against evil influences and emanations.

A Charm For Recalling The Faithless

A Charm For Recalling The Faithless

At midnight light a new black candle in a locked chamber. Take the white wing feather of a dove or pigeon and dip it in some pungent scented oil, rue, wintergreen, or the like. Then let its tip burn in the candle flame, and say these words:

THY FLIGHT BE STAYED
THY WING BE BOUND
THIS CLOUD CASTS THEE
TO THE GROUND

Dip the feather again into the oil, then break it into small pieces and fold these up in a bit of silver paper. Bind this charm with black thread, and bury it in the ground near your doorstep. So shall it call the faithless one back, and when returned, drops of the same oil must be touched to the brow and the palms of that person, who then shall not leave again. Yet reveal not the reason for this anointment, lest its power be diminished.

A Charm To Work Revenge

A Charm To Work Revenge

Gather from the hawthorn tree, or from some great-thorned rose, three thorns of noble strength. Set them to steep in an oil of civet, and meanwhile take the heart from a fowl which has been readied for the cooking pot, and seethe it in white vinegar over the fire. When the heart is well-boiled, remove it, and put it into the oil with the thorns, to remain there until the last stroke of midnight, at which moment light three black candles, and soon plunge the three thorns into the heart, with each thrust saying one of these:

THIS SHAMES THE DEED
THIS BLAMES THE HAND
THIS BLIGHTS THE HEART

Wrap the pierced heart in a scrap of ragged cloth, and dig it a grave in some waste place where weeds flourish and rubbish lies strewn about. This charm so buried is most deadly, and shall bring ruin to its victim that it should not be undertaken without serious consideration of the consequences. The effect may be lessened, and a weaker form of revenge worked upon its object, if the heart, once pierced, be not interred but rather preserved in a small vial of the oil in which it was steeped. Some single misfortune then, and not such dire devastation, shall befall the one in whose name the charm is kept.

A Tree Blessing Charm for Happy Homes

A Tree Blessing Charm for Happy Homes

This charm will work for any tree that you plant on your property; just adjust the opening line accordingly. The best time to plant a tree is the waning moon phase. Once the tree is planted, enchant the tree for healthy growth and to encourage it to add its magick to your home—and don’t forget to keep it water.

The magnolia brings fortitude and fidelity,
Little tree, send happiness and harmony to me.
Grow strong, straight and true where you now stand,
Your magick spreads out across my land.

Garlic is a great protective herb. Besides its supposed properties of keeping away vampires and the roaming undead, a clove of garlic comes in handy for kitchen magick. For this kitchen charm, use a four-inch squre of black fabric and about six to eight inches of black ribbon. Place the clove of garlic for protection and purification in the center of the fabric. Add a pinch of salt to break up any negativity you feel may be surrounding you or the situation.

Gather up each edge of the square, name them for each of the four Elements. After you gather the corners together, tie the bag closed with the ribbbon. Take a careful look at this kitchen charm, the directions are all laid out for you.

By the powers of earth (pick up one corner)
And air (gather the second quarter)
And fire (pick up the third)
And water (and the last corner)
I create this Witch’s protective charm.
(tie the fabric closed with the ribbon)
Grant me safety and shield me from all harm.

Remember to seal this charm with the closing line.

A House Faery Charm

A House Faery Charm

Go through your usual evening routine. For me that includes one last trip through the living room and kitchen to tidy up and make sure all the doors are locked, all the lights are turned out, and any burning candles have been snuffed. Then, as you are ready to turn in, go to the heart of the home and quietly whisper this charm:

Beloved brownies and faeries of my house,
I whisper my thanks, as quiet as a mouse.
Watch over my family, protect my pets,
Thank you for your help as I go off to rest.
Close the charm by saying:
By the hearth and home this charm is sung.
For the good of all, with harm to none.

Charm for Courage

Charm for Courage

Items needed:
Jewelry item
Musk or cedar oil

Obtain a piece of jewelry. Any sort will do as long as it is something that you like enough to wear frequently. Rub a bit of oil into the piece and chant:

I imbue you with courage, and bravery,
and nerve,
I empower you with self-confidence,
so you may serve
My needs when anxieties attempt to emerge
Eradicate them; let new confidence surge.
Wear the jewelry as needed.
