I will be Back Today

Although some of the regular daily posts might be posted later than usual, I will do my best to get them up at the usual times. Any missing birthday horoscopes and astronomy picture of the day will be done also. After the daily posts are caught up to date and at least part of the N. H. tomorrow ones are done I will start working usual monthly. I may need to wait until tomorrow to finish the monthly posts. Of course getting all posts done today depends on how long I can comfortably sit and type.

Thank you very much for your encouragement, support, healing energy, and caring about me during another very rough patch in my life. If not for all the positive feedback and energy I receive from so many of you I would not carry on with WOTC website and witchcraft school. Again thank you for being with me and WOTC not only through the positive times in my life but especially for being with me through the negative times as well.

My wish for each of you is that you have people in your life that support you through all the different times in your life. Please know I am one of them and that you can email me at ladybeltane@witchesofthecraft.com anytime about anything. All correspondences go no further than my eyes.

A Thought for Today

I do color by number apps on my cellphone and the one has some kind of picture with as saying everyday. Today’s really spoke to my heart because I would not want to live without all the different types of love we cannot express. High on my list is the “love” we share through supporting each other through positive and negative times in our lives. Remember I am as close as an email or comment on a post or however we can communicate to support and try to help you through things just as you are here for me.

December 2 Astronomy Picture of the Day

Discover the cosmos! Each day a different image or photograph of our fascinating universe is featured, along with a brief explanation written by a professional astronomer.

2022 December 2

A merging galaxy pair cavort in this image captured by the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope. This pair of galaxies, known to astronomers as II ZW 96, is roughly 500 million light-years from Earth and lies in the constellation Delphinus, close to the celestial equator. As well as the wild swirl of the merging galaxies, a menagerie of background galaxies are dotted throughout the image. The two galaxies are in the process of merging and as a result have a chaotic, disturbed shape. The bright cores of the two galaxies are connected by bright tendrils of star-forming regions, and the spiral arms of the lower galaxy have been twisted out of shape by the gravitational perturbation of the galaxy merger. It is these star-forming regions that made II ZW 96 such a tempting target for Webb; the galaxy pair is particularly bright at infrared wavelengths thanks to the presence of the star formation. This observation is from a collection of Webb measurements delving into the details of galactic evolution, in particular in nearby Luminous Infrared Galaxies such as II ZW 96. These galaxies, as the name suggests, are particularly bright at infrared wavelengths, with luminosities more than 100 billion times that of the Sun. An international team of astronomers proposed a study of complex galactic ecosystems — including the merging galaxies in II ZW 96 — to put Webb through its paces soon after the telescope was commissioned. Their chosen targets have already been observed with ground-based telescopes and the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, which will provide astronomers with insights into Webb’s ability to unravel the details of complex galactic environments. Webb captured this merging galaxy pair with a pair of its cutting-edge instruments; NIRCam — the Near-InfraRed Camera — and MIRI, the Mid-InfraRed Instrument. If you are interested in exploring the differences between Hubble and Webb’s observations of II ZW 96, you can do so here.MIRI was contributed by ESA an

Explanation: Bright at infrared wavelengths, this merging galaxy pair is some 500 million light-years away toward the constellation Delphinus. The cosmic mashup is seen against a background of even more distant galaxies, and occasional spiky foreground stars. But the galaxy merger itself spans about 100,000 light-years in this deep James Webb Space Telescope image. The image data is from Webb’s Near-InfraRed Camera (NIRCam) and Mid-InfraRed Instrument (MIRI). Their combined, sharp infrared view follows galactic scale restructuring in the dusty merger’s wild jumble of intense star forming regions and distorted spiral arms

December 1, 2022 Moon Goddess Current Phase

You can use this link to go forward or backward in time for Moon phase information. If you are curious, you can even find out what phase the Moon was in when you or anyone else was born.

From MoonGiant.com

The Moon’s current phase for today and tonight is a Waxing Gibbous phase. Visible through most of the night sky setting a few hours before sunrise. This phase is when the moon is more than 50% illuminated but not yet a Full Moon. The phase lasts about 7 days with the moon becoming more illuminated each day until the Full Moon. During a Waxing Gibbous the moon rises in the east in mid-afternoon and is high in the eastern sky at sunset. The word Gibbous first appeared in the 14th century and has its roots in the Latin word “gibbosus” meaning humpbacked.

Visit the December 2022 Moon Phases Calendar to see all the daily moon phase for this month.

Today’s Waxing Gibbous Phase

The Waxing Gibbous on December 1 has an illumination of 60%. This is the percentage of the Moon illuminated by the Sun. The illumination is constantly changing and can vary up to 10% a day. On December 1 the Moon is 8.3 days old. This refers to how many days it has been since the last New Moon. It takes 29.53 days for the Moon to orbit the Earth and go through the lunar cycle of all 8 Moon phases.

Phase Details

Phase: Waxing Gibbous
Illumination: 60%
Moon Age: 8.30 days
Moon Angle: 0.54
Moon Distance: 371,499.85 km
Sun Angle: 0.54
Sun Distance: 147,495,806.03 km

The 8 Lunar Phases

There are 8 lunar phases the Moon goes through in its 29.53 days lunar cycle. The 4 major Moon phases are Full Moon, New Moon, First Quarter and Last Quarter. Between these major phases, there are 4 minor ones: the Waxing Crescent, Waxing Gibbous, Waning Gibbous and Waning Crescent. For more info on the Moon Cycle and on each phase check out Wikipedia Lunar Phase page.

Artemis 1: Flight Day 13

Explanation: On flight day 13 (November 28) of the Artemis 1 mission the Orion spacecraft reached its maximum distance from Earth. In fact, over 430,000 kilometers from Earth its distant retrograde orbit also put Orion nearly 70,000 kilometers from the Moon. In the same field of view in this video frame from flight day 13, planet and large natural satellite even appear about the same apparent size from the uncrewed spacecraft’s perspective. Today (December 1) should see Orion depart its distant retrograde orbit. En route to planet Earth it will head toward a second powered fly by of the Moon. Splashdown on the home world is expected on December 11.

Really Need a Mental Health Day

To make a long story very short. I saw the man who i got married to in 1998 and I am trying to divorce so I can marry Big Dawg showed up in the Zoom courtroom yesterday after having no contact with him for 22 almost 23 years. The 2 years we lived together as husband and wife was 2 years of verbal, emotional, and a few times physical domestic abuse. Seeing him brought back a lot of bad memories which raised my stress level throwing back into another bad fibromyalgia flare and a migraine.

I need to not have any responsibilities today except taking care of myself and getting my emotions back under control as they have been see-sawing since 10:30 AM yesterday.
