On ‘Loosen Up, Lighten Up Day’ I want to share an ancient Russian ritual that will help to lighten up the vibrations of your aura while also allowing you to shake off energetic impurities! First, lie on your back and lift your arms and legs so that they are both at a 45-degree angle to your body. Simultaneously shake all your extremities, almost as if you were trying to shake water from them. Shake like crazy. Continue laying on your back with your arms at your sides and your legs loosely on the ground. Inhale deeply, and as you exhale forcefully clench your fists. In fact, clench so tightly that your hands vibrate from the tension. Hold this until you are done exhaling. Do this nine times in succession and then do the shaking exercise again. The emotional charge will have dissipated, as will any other residual physical tension hiding within your body. The result? Why you’ll loosen and lighten up, of course!

To Cause Insomnia
To cause insomnia, steal a piece of your enemy’s clothing and a few strands of his hair. On a moonless night, sprinkle the clothing with bits of straw; then burn the hair and rub the clothing with the ashes Bury the whole shebang in ground near your enemy’s home. He’ll toss and turn in his bed for weeks afterward.
We are coming off the energies of ‘Saint Martin’s Day,’ a day dedicated to a saint who was known as an unselfish and generous giver of fortune and luck. He’s also been called a magical patron saint of all those who may depend on fortunes and luck coming from the kindness of strangers. One sure way to get the full attention and lucky intercession of this saint is to draw a green horseshoe on a piece of plain cardboard and then decorate it with glitter, feathers, sequins or any other eye catching decorations. Be sure that while you’re making this very effective talisman that you concentrate on increasing your opportunities to embrace Health, Happiness and Prosperity, especially through intervention of particularly Helpful People. Place this lucky little piece in that same space of your main floor and wait for a proverbial streetcar full of your own desires to quickly come true!

We Must Hide No Longer

Welcome to America, the self-proclaimed land of the free and home of the brave. The country where, at least in theory, one can practice any faith one wishes and can fully exercise as the Founding Fathers put it the “freedom of conscience.”
The First Amendment, which starts with “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, ” while plain on its face has had a lot of footnotes attached to it over the years by the Christian supermajority. Freedom of religion as long as your faith is Abrahamic in origin. Freedom from persecution as long as you kneel before the Cross. Freedom to worship openly and unhindered only if your faith is one that was thrust on your ancestors by foreign missionaries who claimed to have their best interests at heart.
As a member of what is America’s Invisible Minority, I am no stranger to what happens to Pagans when one is ‘outed’. While I have not been physically assaulted or fired because of my faith I do know what it is for people to go oddly silent when I offer a blessing. I know what it is to be mocked as “insane” and/or labeled a “devil-worshiper”. And of course, I have heard the ever-popular chastisement of, “You’re going to Hell.” I’m fairly sure that anyone whom is not Christian reading this knows what I’m talking about. I’m also fairly sure most people reading this, if they personally have not been the victims of it, at least know someone who lost their job shortly after being outed for “personality issues” or because “didn’t quite work out” or because “we no longer have need of your services.”
Then we have the worst examples: Brandi Blackbear, who was suspended from school for fifteen days in Oklahoma due to accusations of witchcraft (1) . In 1999 Tempest Smith of Michigan who, after school administrators washed their hands of the ongoing harassment by Christian students at her school, hung herself rather than deal with it any longer in 2001 (2) .
Palmdale, California, the state that is seen by many and prided as the most forward-thinking in the country, in 2002 had a local Christian group invade a Pagan store and harass, browbeat, intimidate, and threaten patrons who were honoring Ostara. The best part was when the Sheriff’s Department refused to investigate because, oh by the way, a volunteer department chaplain was at the attack and helped organize it (3) .
2004 in South Carolina saw local prosecutors state that a man accused of murder did so because he was Wiccan (4) . There is of course the infamous case of the Wiccan Nevada National Guardsman denied a pentacle on his headstone by the US government (5) .
In 2007 an Army Chaplain, in spite of his stellar record as a soldier and Chaplain, was not only denied his request to serve as a Wiccan Chaplain but also removed from the Chaplain’s Corps (6) . I’m sure there are plenty of other incidents like these that are as bad, possibly worse, that have not been mentioned here.
So what, you may be wondering, is the point of all this? The point is simple: we as a diverse group of Earth-based faith traditions are routinely disrespected and disregarded by American society as a whole.
Now I know a lot of Pagans are likely thinking to themselves, “Why should we care what a bunch of superficial ‘sheeple’ think? We’re free spirits who dance to the beat of our own drums and don’t care what other people say about us!” There is a very serious problem with that kind of thinking.
In the United States of America today there are about 300 million people (7) . Of that 300 million it is estimated only 1.3 million are Pagans of some kind or another (8) . As much as our independent spirit and willingness to question convention is probably our greatest strength it cannot be ignored that we are a tiny minority in an overwhelmingly Christian nation.
What would happen if, for example, the good people at Operation Rescue who had regularly targeted Dr. Tiller’s clinic in Kansas for protest (9) were very directly confronted in the national media and asked if their accusations of him being a mass-murderer (10) were responsible in some fashion for his cold-blooded assassination inside his own church? You would have wall-to-wall coverage of pundits, preachers, and politicians tearing their hair out and wailing about “persecution.”
Now what happens if, say, a Druid Grove is accused of human sacrifice? First off you probably wouldn’t see any media attention given to such a story unless someone decides to go and actually do something about “those dangerous cultists.” You would probably also see outrage and condemnation on the web on Pagan blogs. And just like many other instances of persecution after we as a whole vow “Never Again” and some group or foundation takes up the incident as their championed cause, it sinks back into the morass of apathy.
Why does this happen? Are we not devoted enough to our own dignity? The answer is rather more elementary than Pagans being undeserving or incapable of organizing or any of the other excuses bandied about.
With only a small handful of real victories against our persecutors and attackers, any move to do something about it is already seen by many as doomed to fail. Too many Pagans give our independent nature and notorious difficulty in being organized in any meaningful fashion as cop-outs to really having an impact on society and improving our standing in it. It is, sadly, understandable why many would do so.
Who wants to exhaust their time, money, and energy fighting for a cause pre-determined in the minds of their colleagues as lost? Everyone wants to be the hero riding over the hill; no one wants to be the person who makes the glorious last stand for a greater moral victory. Far better, it would be argued, to think small.
Better to gain a seat on an Interfaith Council or use of a Unitarian Church than to run for public office. Better to make small, easy victories than to organize, mobilize, and take the fight to where it matters most: the public square. Better to cede the debate to people who do not understand us and in many cases are actively hostile to us.
To take such an approach is to sacrifice the future of our faith, of our community, and of the next generation of Pagans for the sake of questionable comfort and unsteady safety in the immediate present. As Ben Franklin once said, “He who would give up a little liberty for a little security will gain neither and lose both.”
We cannot continue to “wait and see” or “let our moment come” or “try not to upset people.” We upset a sizable fraction of the population simply by breathing; staying quiet and walking small will not change that. I see no reason why we, a community that wears our free spirits as a badge of honor and believe in the importance of personal responsibility, should be afraid of standing up for what we believe. Every other group striving for rights and dignity in American history has been told the same thing when they began their push.
If all the other groups had listened then we probably would still have slavery in the South, women as property of their husbands, and only those with land of their own having the right to vote. Discretion is said to be the better part of valor, but when discretion is forced by circumstance then it is no longer a guardrail against madness but a straightjacket for the soul.
So long as we allow inaction we will remain the Invisible Minority. So long as we act in reaction to fear Pagans will continue to be harassed, attacked, fired, and forgotten. The promise of the Declaration of Independence of, “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” will remain unfulfilled for all of us. The effort will be long. It will be hard. Only a fool would promise that it would be easy. But America now is no longer the America where the Religious Right stood unchallenged in their agenda by the masses.
The time is now. We stand at a vital crossroads in history. With the power of the social conservatives, at least for now, broken and our numbers on the rise we must seize the moment and begin the long journey to respect and acceptance. In so doing we must remember, for all who join us in the cause, that we do not just do so for ourselves. We fight for each other, our fellow Kin regardless of Tradition.
Most importantly, we are fighting for the future. The future of our Traditions. The future of our community as a whole and the health, vitality, and success of our local communities in particular. Most vitally we are struggling for the next generation. We must take up the cause to demand respect and dignity and work long and hard now so that when the next generation comes of age they will not know the fear, uncertainty, loneliness, and hardship that many of us have been forced to live with.
We begin today so tomorrow we may openly stand on the mountaintops and in the public square with each other, our children, and our fellow Americans and have no fear anywhere in this nation, from Seattle to Atlanta, from San Francisco to San Antonio, from New York to New Orleans there will be no place where we must hide the truth of who we are for the sake of survival or propriety.
We must take up the cause of liberation. We can no longer let fear instilled by our attackers to keep us shoved into the shadows. We must stand up and get involved in our local communities. We need to actively participate in local, state, and federal politics whether or not it is directly Pagan related or not. To give us a voice in public offices, we need to cultivate, assist and support people to run for these offices including those within the existing two major parties.
We must aggressively dispel the lies perpetrated by our foes by coming out to the public where it is safe to do so as a Pagan, as a Druid, as a Witch, as a Heathen so they know we are not some mysterious dark cult but real people they know. We must do this for what are our natural rights as human beings of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness on our terms according to what we believe not what others say we must believe.
We have no time to wait, no time to allow our moment to come. Our time is here.
Every act we take, great or small, alone or in a group, which is one made for the good of our greater community is one worth doing. Every act no matter its impact is one more step on the road to victory.
We cannot wait for heroes to come riding down from on high to our rescue. We must answer the call and rise to the challenge that we all face.

| Name: | Rous |
Age: | Six months old |
| Gender: | Male |
Kind: | Opossum |
| Home: | Eugene, Oregon, USA |
||
|
This Rous, and he is an opossum, which is North America’s only marsupial species. His mother was hit by a car, and he developed neurological issues because of this. He was the only one who survived. Rous cried and cried for his mother for two days straight. After I become his new mom, anytime I left he would cry for me. Cry = high pitched bark. My boyfriend is in love with him. If anything happened to him he would be very upset. Rous is very much a loved member of our family. He is getting neutered next week and I plan on using him for educational purposes.
He was about two months oop (out of pouch) in the baby photos, and here he is now. He’s all grown up. It’s amazing to think he used to be so darned tiny. He adores the kids, anyone really. Especially the cats. His favorite thing to do is climb onto the counter when I’m cleaning cages. He is probably the easiest pet to care for. Also, he will do anything for a grape or marshmallow. He absolutely loves them. Opossums are the most bizarre sleepers! Rous loves to hang onto something even when asleep. When they get tired they will close their eyes and then just fall over sideways and be totally knocked out. It’s the strangest thing. He is a bit spoiled. He is litter trained, non destructive and mild mannered. His vet even pondered the thought of adopting an opossum for a pet. We all love Rous. ![]() |

Today is the eleventh day of the eleventh month during the two thousand and eleventh year. Is there magic and mystery in the air? Feng Shui says that there’s always something extraordinary and exceedingly special about the number one. When that number is doubled, anyone associated with it will attract ‘winner’s luck,’ as these numbers now confer the energies to emerge a winner in any competitive situation. In order to activate these numbers, add or create the presence of 11 in your living space, even by simply scribbling the number 11 on scrap paper throughout the day. Since the number eleven resonates with being a winner, don’t forget to concentrate or meditate upon those same digits in order to give yourself a leg up before being practically guaranteed to get a big hand!

What will you see on 11-11-11? While some people expect a day of luck and good fortune and others fear nothing but trouble, Numerology holds the real answers. Nearly every day of our lives we rush around at Mach speed, focusing all our precious energy on ourselves, our views and our personal problems. We see things as us or them, right or wrong, black or white. But on 11-11-11, we get a very rare opportunity to see the grey areas that lie between. That space that is so vast that it often separates us from others dissipates on this one day, drawing us closer to others and allowing us to connect in ways we normally just can’t.
At some point in your life you’ve probably been shown an inkblot or a cloud and been asked, “what do you see?” Maybe you didn’t even give the question a second thought, or just blurted out the first thing that came to mind. But when we rush through life ignoring these common visions we share with others, we draw further and further away, and our own light dims.
And that’s why 11-11-11 is such a powerful point in our lives. It’s a day that favors matters of the heart over the mind, a day when friendship, romance, caring, and all those other good qualities of life are of utmost importance. The more practical matters — running the country or your business, or even the details in your own household — take a backseat now.
The number 11 is directly associated with the feminine number 2, but while the 11 is therefore feminine, it takes these traits to much greater heights. The symbol “11” itself, even — the numbers 1 and 1, side by side — actually shows us a tunnel or funnel that represents the 11’s most important trait: the power to channel what is not visible or known, and bring it down to our level. It is the link between two worlds — the 11 is the grey area.
The number 11 also has many other positive attributes, such as compassion, tact, sensitivity, intuition, emotional intensity, passion and harmony. It is non-confrontational and likes to mediate and keep the peace. It is not weak by any measure, but will gladly step aside if that helps to avoid discord.
The repetitive presence of the number 11 means that feminine energy rules on 11-11-11. On a global scale and in our personal relationships, we can find common ground now. We’re able to avoid conflict by casting confrontation aside in favor of cooperation and give-and-take. There is more willingness to work together on this day, and a universal increase in compassion and caring.
Yet, there are other numbers at play on 11-11-11 as well. The 8 — the sum of all the digits found in that date — is a very karmic number, and is most strongly felt in the world of business and finance. So we may see some surprises in those areas, like major ups and downs in individual stocks and whole stock markets, or shifts in the Occupy Wall Street movement. We also can’t look past the 2 and the 0 found in the year 2011 — this increases the emotional instability of the 11, making us more inclined to turn molehills into mountains and let our emotions overtake our common sense. Lastly, the number 6 is also hidden in this date, which is another feminine number, bringing famiy affairs to the foreground, testing friendships and loyalty and perhaps calling for a bit of self-sacrifice.
11/11/11 may be one single day, but the effects of this date can be profound and lasting. Tune in. Reason with others. Connect, accept, love and listen, and you’ll find a more calm, complete and connected future.
Remember
by Brittany Vigoreaux
American soldiers sacrifice so much,
All for the freedom of our country.
Leaving their families and heading off to war,
Not knowing what the future holds.
Working day and night
Determined to stay strong.
Watching friends be killed every day
Letters from home inspiring them to keep fighting
So little is given to them
Although there is little to do,
For those who have died in war
We can still remember
Remember all the men who have died.
Remember all the battles fought
Remember all the tears families cried
Remember it was freedom the soldiers brought
To this very day soldiers are under-appreciated
Veterans Day is the day
For the dead, living, and fighting soldiers
To be remembered
I almost didn’t remember that today is ‘Forget Me Not Day.’ If you want to meet someone who will forget you not (especially when it comes time to tie the knot), then you might want to wear a special oil blend that promises that whoever gets a whiff will immediately be smitten by your ‘scentual’ magnetism. Blend two drops each of rose essential oil, jasmine essential oil, bergamot essential oil and damiana essential oil to a base of a quarter cup of almond oil and then wear this mix as a perfume or aftershave. You’re sure to be remembered very fondly, long after the initial introductions have worn off. Believed to be stimulating and highly effective love attractants, these oils, when mixed together with loving intention, have been used as charms to help draw in new partners or even to help to strengthen existing relationships. Applied to the pulse points, or even used in the bath as massage oil, this preparation will give new meaning to the warning ‘slippery when wet.’ Go ahead and forget I ever said that!

I recently released a report called ‘Shape Shifting; Shifting your Thoughts, Changing your Shape.’ I researched this report for well over two years, trying to find both cutting edge medical information as well as ancient medicinal knowledge that will allow people to ‘age backward’ and find a renewed sense of health, happiness and longevity simply by making some lifestyle shifts. One of those involves using different medicinal spices to achieve better health and long life. On ‘Cook Something Bold Day’ I’d like to offer a recipe for ageless living that involves a spice called tumeric. Ayurvedic practitioners have long held that tumeric takes away old age, and if a very little bit is rubbed on the skin, it can take away wrinkles. More philosophical theorists and herbal practitioners once called tumeric ‘the spice of love and luck.’ Hawaiians use tumeric in purification ceremonies, and in India this spice is burned for protection, as it’s believed that demons and other malevolent creatures detest its smell. Today, try to be bold and ageless and cook something tasty by adding no more than an eighth of a teaspoon of tumeric to any traditional savory recipe. Now you won’t be growing old, you’ll be growing bold!

Let’s head to the workplace on ‘Job Action Day.’ First, one or two small bells hung on your office door will encourage great fortunes to enter that same space. Just be sure to hang them on the outside of the doorknob with red ribbon, yarn or thread. Feng Shui says that symbolically the sound of the bell brings prosperity while predicating the prospect that you will hear some good news. Remember to only use small bells, but if your office faces either east or southeast, then you can use wooden or ceramic bells for highest benefit. Simply put, this cure invites good fortune to the workplace. Now, once you’ve put this energetic adjustment into place and get that well deserved promotion or raise, don’t ask for whom the bell tolls. As we know by now, it tolls for thee!

| Name: | Luigi |
Age: | Seven years old |
| Gender: | Male |
Kind: | Tuxedo |
| Home: | Riverton, New Jersey, USA |
||
|
Luigi is a large, handsome and very friendly tuxedo cat. We adopted him five years ago from a cat rescue in a neighboring county. We were just recovering from the loss of our first tuxedo cat, Otis, and we wanted a playmate for our two other cats, Tabitha and Sadie. Luigi had a rough early life. He was adopted and then returned to the cat rescue. Sometime during his youth, he also injured his right rear leg, causing him to limp a bit. The leg does not slow him down, although it is hard for him to jump up on the bed or the window sill. For an eighteen pound cat with a bad leg, Luigi still gets around pretty well, especially when its mealtime or when he is playing with his siblings.
Luigi is very affectionate. When we are in bed or on the couch, Luigi will often curl up next to one of us (usually his Dad) and purr loudly–louder than any cat we have come across. He seems to do this particular when we watch the Phillies games or the news channel. Luigi will also demand that you pet him, usually by putting his paw across your hand. He will continue to demand his pets and scratches until either he gets bored or you get up. We often have to keep Luigi’s nails clipped in order to keep our hands intact. When we have visitors over, especially kids, he lets them pet him with little, if any, complaint. Luigi now has two sisters, Sadie and Balto, and a little tuxedo brother, Dylan. When he and Dylan hang out togther or play with the laser pointer, they look like the feline version of the “Blues Brothers.” His oldest sister, Tabitha, passed away two years ago at seventeen years of age after battling diabetes for years. Other than the occasional spat with Sadie (they both think they should be in charge), the four of them get along pretty well. He has a healthy appetite, and he enjoys catnip. Luigi has been a wonderful addition to our family, and we look forward to him being part of our family for years to come. |

Crystal Bad Habit Breaking Spell
Elder’s Meditation of the Day – November 4
“The honor of the people lies in the moccasin tracks of the woman. Walk the good road…. Be dutiful, respectful, gentle and modest my daughter… Be strong with the warm, strong heart of the earth. No people goes down until their women are weak and dishonored, or dead upon the ground. Be strong and sing the strength of the Great Powers within you, all around you.”
–Village Wise Man, SIOUX
The Elders say the Native American women will lead the healing among the tribes. We need to especially pray for our women, and ask the Creator to bless them and give them strength. Inside them are the powers of love and strength given by the Moon and the Earth. When everyone else gives up, it is the women who sings the songs of strength. She is the backbone of the people. So, to our women we say, sing your songs of strength; pray for your special powers; keep our people strong; be respectful, gentle and modest.
Oh, Great One, bless our women. Make them strong today.

1) No conversation or recruitment is necessary…
Wiccans have no insecure compulsion to convert everyone to their way of thinking. People come to Wicca when and if they are ready/interested. Furthermore, you are not required to accept or do anything that you’re not comfortable with.
2) No artificial code of morality…
Out of all of the creatures of this Earth, only humans are forced to live under unnatural moral codes. Wiccans believe simply: “An It Harm None, Do As Ye Will”.
3) Progressive Reincarnation…
Wiccans believe we are here to learn and to progress, not suffer eternal damnation if we ‘slip-up’ in someone else’s eyes.
4) No Discrimination…
There is no such thing as being the ‘right’ race, color, gender, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin to be Wiccan; ALL are welcome!
5) No middle man (or woman)… Once you know all of the basics, you can be your own ‘minister’ or ‘priest’ you need never bow before (or rely upon) some religious dictator for spiritual guidance, you go straight to the source.
6) Be yourself…
By sharing a common interest with others in Wicca, you do not lose your identity as an individual. You are unique and can and should stay that way without becoming a blob in homogeneous mass.
7) No repression…
Wiccans are not forbidden from reading, learning, eating, drinking, or saying anything. You can actually even disagree with someone without being ‘excommunicated’.
8) Contribution…
NO! Not money, but knowledge. The craft has always , and will always, be an experimental religion. If it works, we use it. Then share it so that all in the Craft many benefit.
9) No rigid Dogma…
Wiccans DO NOT believe that their path is ‘The One and Only Path’. The only ‘True’ path is the one that works best for you. All paths are valid as long as they Harm None.
10) Self-empowerment…
Wicca allows you to truly feel your own power, if you will, and a true sense of self. You are ‘allowed’ to be the best person that you wish to be with all of the love and support that you can possibly hope for. Wicca allows you to take your hopes, dreams, and most heart’s desires and manifest them in this reality. All is possible. All is real.
