Incense and Peppermints Dream Spell (Snow Moon)

Incense and Peppermints Dream Spell

(Snow Moon)

This spell is to stir your passion for life and love.

You will need a cup of vanilla tea, frankincense incense, music conducive to dream magick and a peppermint candy cane.

Begin by brewing the tea and lighting the incense. Put on the music and lick the candy cane three times, savoring its sweet peppermint taste. Take a deep breath and let the aroma of the incense fill your nostrils and say:

Incense and peppermint, awaken the passion in me
So that I might truly come alive, so mote it be!

Stir the tea with the candy cane three times, and say three times:

Awaken my passion, blessed be!

Eat the candy cane and drink the tea, enjoying every last bit of it. Let your senses continue to enjoy the aroma of the incense and sound of the music. As you drift to sleep, imagine your senses aroused and waiting to be fully awakened. Give yourself the suggestion:

Tonight my dreams are sensuous and filled with passion.

Meditation Hall

Clear the land, thatch the rush for roof,
All around cherish the empty, the pure.
Mountain blossoms fall by a secluded door,
Within, one who has forgotten the world’s schemings.
Concern with existence needs no possession,
Comprehending the void does not wait upon reason.
All things are of conditions born,
Profound is the silence in the midst of clamor.
A person’s mind is very much the same;
A bird in flight, leaving no tracks behind.

Lessons in Magickal Herbal Use – Lesson 1

Lessons in Magickal Herbal Use
by Leillan

Lesson One: Storage and Tools

I am starting very basic here. Some may want to breeze through this. But I have been asked to start at the beginning, so here goes. You don’t have to store your herbs in any special way unless you want to. I just use blue canning jars and interesting bottles. I like a tight lid to keep moisture away from the herb, and to keep the herb in the bottle. Nothing is worse that herbs spilling out into the cabinet and all over the floor when the jar is tipped over!

Always label your herbs. Even the most adept herbalist can get confused once in awhile. The labeling method is another matter of choice. As I use my herbs for many purposes, I generally just label by herb name. However, you could also add a few lines stating elemental properties, basic uses, etc. As you learn more you may want to store herbal blends. Label these with the types of herbs used and the purpose it was intended for when you blended it. Maybe you found a certain natural incense you made that you really like. Blend a bunch of it, label it, and jot down the purpose for which you like to use it, e.g., power, relaxation, etc. You’ll find this simple step very useful in the future; don’t always rely on memory.

You more than likely will want a few tools. A mortar and pestle, and a good knife should be among your first tools. I use my athame to cut herbs. You may choose to use the traditional sickle-shaped “Boleen.” If you intend to use your herbs for both magick and cooking/healing, get two mortar and pestles (especially if you choose something porous like wood). This way, a mortar used to crush mistletoe and holly won’t be used for crushing pepper and garlic. Remember, some of the herbs you use for magickal work are toxic if taken internally. With the exception of the knife, I prefer to use wood, stone, or clay for my tools, and tend to stay away from metals. Certain oils and herbs have a reaction with some alloys.

Other tools you may want are pretty basic to the Craft in general, and you may already have most of them. These include a censor and incense, candles of various colors, and a bowl for mixing. You’ll need something to hold water (if needed), like a shell or a bowl, and you may want to collect various sizes of shells or containers for measuring your herbs. You may want a colored cloth for a bag, string,or rubber bands for sachets, and of course you will eventually want to make amulets and such. But these things can be acquired as the need arises.

Other than what I have mentioned above, the purpose will tell what supplies are needed.

POPPET

POPPET

Grave dirt or earth Rosemary Sage Piece of smoky quartz
Piece of amethyst Some item from the person
A poppet can be sewn to represent the malicious person.
Fill it with earth (grave dirt if you can find it), rosemary, sage, a piece of smoky quartz and
a piece of amethyst. Also enclose a piece of the person’s fingernails, a lock of hair, or
another personal item. Handwriting can be enclosed if you have nothing else.
Photos can be used also.

Your Daily Number for November 17th: 6

Family matters take center stage today. It’s possible that you’ll receive some good news from an old friend. Give of yourself today; it’s quite possible that a younger person will seek you out for help or advice.

Power Objects

Power Objects

Do you ever pick up special rocks, feathers, or shells? Do you have a special necklace or ring that you wear just for ritual? Can an array of crystals be found around your home, office or in your pockets? If so, you already have some personal power objects.

Power objects are items that hold strong energy for you. A power object may evoke a connection with spirit allies, bring healing, act as a focal point, or heighten your own magickal abilities. These may be object whose energy is apparent to all that come in contact with them–perhaps soil from Stonehenge or water blessed by the Dalai Lama. On the other hand, they may be items that resonate with you alone. Your grandmother’s wedding ring may hold power for you, or a lock of your child’s hair.

Power objects are often believed to be gifts from the gods or spirit allies. While walking in the woods, you may come across a feather or unusually shaped stone that seems to call to you. Your attention is drawn to it again and again or your might know instantly when you see it that it is there just for you. You may find yourself in a store, just wandering on a lunch hour or shopping for a friend. Before you know it, a crystal speaks to you in some way and you just know that you can’t leave the store without taking it home.

For whatever reason, these objects have a reason for being in your life. The reason is likely to be incredibly personal, something specific to you and you alone. For some people, the meaning is rather general. A bear fetish or turkey feather reminds you of all that these spirit animals have been to you and provides as instant connection to their energy. For others, a power object is very specific. A horse hair represents freedom from an abusive relationship, or a blue topaz holds the ability to voice one’s needs and opinions. Attuning to your power object will not only help you understand the power and meaning it has for you, but will also assist you in accessing that power.

How and Why to Use Positive Affirmations as a Stress Management Tool

Positive Affirmations Can Be Fun!

By Elizabeth Scott, M.S.

Positive affirmations are a great tool to reprogram your unconscious mind from negative thinking to positive. The idea is to take positive statements of what you would like to see manifested, and repeat them enough so that they’re part of your way of thinking and seeing the world; this operates in the same way that negative self-talk does, but in a way that benefits you. To come up with your own positive affirmations, use the following guidelines:

  • Look At Your Intentions:Think about what you are trying to create in your life. This means, look at the end product, and the behaviors, attitudes and traits you would like to see yourself develop in order to get there. Would you like to feel more peace? Would you like to practice more healthy lifestyle habits? Would you like to be a more supportive friend? You might want to write in a journal and brainstorm to figure out what’s important to you and get to the heart of what you want to create in your life. (A good starting point is to imagine your ideal life, pretend a fairy has given you three wishes, or try to visualize what you were put on Earth to be.)
  • Create Statements: Once you get an idea of what you’re aiming for, try to put that idea into a few simple statements that reflect the reality of what you want to create. Phrase the statements as if they are already true, not that you would like them to be true. For example, the affirmation, “I am feeling more peaceful each day,” would be better than, “I want to feel more peaceful.”This is because you are programming your subconscious mind to believe the statements, and that helps manifest them into reality. You’re not trying to wantsomething, you’re trying to make it so.
  • Be Sure They’re Positive: When making positive affirmations, be sure they’re positive! This means saying what you want to see and experience, not what you don’t wantto see and experience. For example, instead of saying, “I don’t want to feel stress,” or even, “I’ve stopped feeling stress,” use, “I’m feeling peace”. Sometimes your mind doesn’t register the negative, and it just hears the concept, “stress”, which is what you’re trying to avoid.
  • Make Them Realistic: Your subconscious mind can benefit from positive affirmations that stretch and expand your perspective, but if you push things too far, your ‘inner judge’ steps in and negates the affirmations. Be sure that you’re making your affirmations realistic, but hopeful as well, and positive affirmations will work foryou. For example, the affirmation of, ‘Every day, in every way, I’m getting better and stronger, etc.’ might feel like too much of a stretch, and your subconscious mind might ‘beg to differ’. However, ‘I am learning from my mistakes,’ or ‘I am grateful for all that I have in my life,’ might feel more ‘real’ to your subconscious mind. Experiment, and see what feels right to you.
  • Use Mine: If you’d like some ideas for affirmations designed to reduce stress in your life by increasing peaceful thoughts, feelings of safety, and fostering a stronger sense of self-efficacy, you can check out my Stress Management Affirmations, or you can discover them the fun way by playing Affirmation Hangman. (If you’re going to play the game, don’t look at the list until afterward, or guessing the affirmations in the game will be too easy!)

Once you’ve found your affirmations, here are some fun ways to introduce positive affirmations into your life:

  • Repetition:Probably the most popular way to harness the power of affirmations is to simply repeat them to yourself on a regular basis. Repeating them mentally several times in the morning or evening can be effective; repeating them aloud is even more effective because you hear them more clearly that way.
  • Do-It-Yourself Recording:You can make a recording of yourself repeating positive affirmations and play it as you drive, get reading in the morning, or do other activities. Talk in a calm voice, maybe play your favorite soothing music in the background, and you have a recording tailor-made especially for your needs!
  • On Post-Its:A fun way to use affirmations is to put them on post-its that you place around your house (on the fridge, on the bathroom mirror, and other places you’ll likely see them) to give yourself positive messages throughout the day. This technique can be effective on its own, or can be used with other affirmation techniques as a reinforcer.
  • Self-Hypnosis: To really increase the effectiveness of affirmations, you can use them with self-hypnosis. This is a way to really cement them into your subconscious thinking much more quickly than repeating them in your normal conscious state. (Here’s more information on the benefits of self-hypnosis and how to use self-hypnosis for stress management.

Cleansing Second Hand Furniture and Jewelry

Cleansing Second Hand Furniture and Jewelry

Author: Nita

People today are buying more used items. Antiques have always been loved by others who have the money to purchase and add them to their home. No one who purchases used clothes, furniture, jewelry and other objects thinks about the energies around the object. Estate sales can cause the ghost to follow a beloved object. Pawn shops and second hand stores have beautiful jewelry but you may pick up the grief associated with having to sell a beloved object.

Jewelry can be a real problem as even gifts can carry negative energies. I always tell everyone that it does not matter if I cleaned the jewelry before I gave it to him or her. They should cleanse every object that is second hand. It is the only way to keep negative energies out of your space.

Jewelry can be cleansed by soaking the jewelry in water and a little bit of salt. The water and salt is prayed over so the divine blesses the jewelry and cleanses it. It should be placed where the sun and the moon can purify the jewelry with their rays of energy.

Jewelry can be buried so the earth absorbs the negativity that is left in the jewelry. I suggest doing it in a pot so the jewelry can be found easily. Prayer again is used to help the blessed energies of the elements to clear the energies. Occasionally there are objects that cannot seem to be cleansed. If you have an object where the energies will not clear up and it is jewelry never wear it.

Antique vases, bowls, and other objects that have negativity can have salt placed in them where it will not harm them. The salt will absorb the negative energies, as it is sacred earth. Furniture is a little more difficult. I suggest a mixture of water and Chinese Floor Wash. There are many voodoo washes for the floor. They all have different purposes but all of them can be used as a cleansing mixture. Herb teas of protective herbs can also be used for cleansing. A weak solution should be used so it does not stain or discolor the furniture or items to be cleansed.

The cleansing should be done with prayers being said no matter what is used. Prayer energizes and removes negative energies. Spray bottles can be used to spray the objects before they are brought into the house. It means that the furniture does not carry the vibrations of its former owners. I have seen people buy a couch in a yard sale. The couple was splitting up due to arguments. The couple who bought the couch had arguments until they cleaned up the energies of the couch.

The same is true for Jewelry or any other object given as a gift. Gifts can sometimes be the same way especially if the person who gives it to another is envious, jealous, or gives it away because of bad memories. Always cleanse gifts even if they are brand new when you have someone give them to you.

I have a friend who accepted a gift from another person. The person was a High Priestess and should have told the beginner to cleanse the object. She did not and the person who received the gift asked me to see why she felt so bad when she wore it. The person had worn the ring when she was under psychic attack. It was in a shop that had been broken up by arguments and jealousy. The ring could not be cleansed.

I also had a friend that bought two beautiful jade vases from Tibet. I saw the vases and the energies were black. I asked her where she bought them and she said in an estate auction. The vases were beautiful but needed to have salt put on the inside. I would be amazed if the person did not buy them after the problems in Tibet and the original owners had died defending their home.

These are just examples but it is still a serious subject. Our homes and places we work all have energies in them. The correct energies can make everything go well so everywhere we exist is a place of happiness and abundance. The wrong energies affect everyone. Every object can absorb energies so cleansing them is a good thing to do to help yourself and the people you are around.

Herbs that are good for cleansing objects are rosemary, marjoram, thyme, dill, basil, and lavender. All of these may be made into a tea. Crystals that clear objects of negative energies are Selenite, Blue Kyanite, Citrine, and Black Tourmaline. All of these crystals absorb energies. Certain Flower essences are good for purifying the energies of objects. The list of things that can be used to cleanse energies can be endless.

All prayers should mention or have the person saying the prayers focused on cleansing and blessing the object and everywhere it is present. Every religion or practice has prayers that will do this. Psalms can be used for Christianity for example. Mantras for Hindu energies and the list can go on. The important thing is to use the prayers you believe in that are attuned to the divine aspect that you worship.

One word of caution never accepts or keep gifts from people who you know want to harm you. I have had a number of cases where the person had to get rid of gifts given her by others who cursed her. Objects can be used as a focal point, which is why ghosts can follow a beloved object, spirits can inhabit objects, and accepting gifts has caused much grief.

If you do not want to be rude cleanse the object and then give it to charity. It is another reason to be sure to cleanse anything you buy. Many people give away gifts that they were given by people they disliked. You can buy an object energized with ill intent and not know what is happening in your home.

All of these problems can be resolved by being careful. Cleanse the object before bringing them into your home. Bless the object to bring peace and happiness into the home or office where it is put so everyone can enjoy it. Relax and enjoy your purchases.

 Success in Finding a Job

When you submit a job application, manuscript for publication, or anything that requires paper there are several things that you can do, using herbs and crystals as well as some techniques based on ancient beliefs. One or all of the parts of the techniques can be used, but first you must make your combined incense and dressing powder base

You Will Need:

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground lemon balm
  • Few drops of bergamot oil
  • Bowl

The Spell:

  • Mix all the ingredients together in the bowl.
  • For a dressing powder add a carrier such as powdered chalk or talcum powder which should be unscented.
  • To use as incense leave it as it is, and burn it on a charcoal disc in a heatproof burner.
  • FOR THE SPELL PROPER- YOU WILL NEED
  • Your papers (application form etc) Any supporting documents (e.g. your CV, covering letter) METHOD
  • Light your incense
  • Before you begin writing or filling in your forms smoke the paper on which you will write. This consists of wafting the required amount of paper or the application form in the incense smoke and asking a blessing for the process you are about to start.
  • You may wish to place a crystal on your desk to help in the writing or you could place it on or near your printer.
  • You might use tigers eye for clearer thinking or tourmaline to attract goodwill. Be guided by your own intuition.
  • Once you have completed the forms or the writing you can dress each page individually.
  • On the back of each page sprinkle the dressing powder
  • Draw your four fingers through the powder in wavy lines from top to bottom so they leave very clear tracks.
  • Leave for a few moments, then shake off the powder, all the while visualizing the success of your project.
  • Finally, you can leave the papers in front of the image of your chosen deity if you have one, or offer them for a blessing overnight When you have done this, you know that you have done as much as you can to ensure success as is humanly possible. It is literally now in the hands of the gods. Obviously, you will already have done or will be doing any necessary research into your project on a physical level.

Meditation 101: An Overview

By Patti Wigington, About.com Guide

What is meditation?:

For folks in the Western hemisphere, meditation is often seen as some sort of “new-age hippie” fad, something that you do right before you eat granola and hug a spotted owl. However, Eastern civilizations have known about the power of meditation and used it to control the mind and expand the consciousness.

Today, Western thinking is finally catching up, and there is an increasing awareness of what meditation is and what it can be used for. The benefits of meditation are mentioned not only by Wiccans and Pagans but by health practitioners and other everyday people.

How does meditation work?:

The mind is made up of many facets, many of which we have not even begun to tap into. The conscious mind consists of all the things you’re aware of on a daily basis: can I pay my bills? Does my lover still love me? Will my parents get sick? Did I forget to clean the cat box? There is also the subconscious mind – all the things you know, but don’t know that you know. This is where things like memory and involuntary body functions come from. Finally, there is the part called the super consciousness, which is the higher self, the center of spiritual growth and well-being.

What happens in a meditation session?:

Meditation allows you to focus on the subconscious and the super conscious minds. During a meditative session, you may find yourself meeting various archetypes, or encountering things that seem symbolic. This is your mind’s way of telling you what’s going on, and all you have to do is figure out how to interpret the message.

Guided meditations:

There are different meditation techniques, one of which is called guided meditation. In this technique, a guide – either in person or via a recording – leads the meditation, telling you where to go and what you see. They may include things such as, “You are walking down a path in the woods,” or “There is a person coming towards you who holds something in her hand.” For beginners, a guided meditation is excellent, because it provides a good idea of what meditation actually is, and allows you to center your focus. You can buy commercially produced guided meditation CDs, or you can create your own with a tape recorder.

Freeform meditation:

Freeform meditation is one where there is no guide, and you simply let your mind wander. To do this, sit comfortably and allow yourself to relax as much as possible. Some people like to lie down when meditating, but others find that they fall asleep when they do so. Choose whichever method is best for you.

Where should I meditate?:

Find a place where you can be relatively undisturbed. Turn off the phone and the television, put the kids to bed, and close the windows if there’s traffic outside. In some traditions, meditation is only performed inside a sacred space, so feel free to cleanse and consecrate the area as you see fit. Remove any possible distractions, and wear clothing that’s comfortable. In fact, you can meditate skyclad (nude) if you choose.

When is a good time to meditate?:

As to when you meditate, the best time is whenever you can get some quiet time. If that’s in the morning before everyone else gets up, great. If it’s at night when your family has gone to bed, that’s fine too. Many people like to meditate at night so they can go outside and meditate under the moon and stars. Whatever time you decide to practice, try to do it at the same time every day. This will allow you for more consistency, and get you into good meditation habits.

Today’s Meditation for October 26th – Autumn candle meditation

New Age Comments & Graphics

Autumn candle meditation

The season I like best is autumn. When the weather is fine, I like to go outside, enjoying the last warm rays of a sun that is quickly loosing its strength, and watching the changing colours and the winds that carry away the leaves from the trees. When the weather is rainy, however, I like to do an autumn candle meditation.
For this meditation, you need: a rainy day, at least half an hour of time when you will not be disturbed and a comfortable chair that faces a window with a good view. I like to do this in the attic where the rain is drumming on the roof light, or in a place where I can look out into the garden. You also need a cup of hot tea, maybe a blanket and of course a candle.

Prepare your tea, and make yourself comfortable, facing the window. Start the meditation by lighting the candle. Be calm and relaxed. If you want to, focus on your breath for a few minutes in order to relax. Then, allow yourself to watch the autumn rain. Enjoy the warmth of your tea. Let everything else go. No hurry, no planning, no reflection – just let everything else go. Whenever your mind wanders back to something that happened yesterday, just bring it back to the moment. Whenever you start thinking about something you will have to do tomorrow, just come back to the present moment. Be present. Whenever you feel anger, fear, stress, let it go and come back to the present moment. Just be.
End the meditation by blowing out the candle
