Moon Alert

Avoid shopping or big decisions after 5:30 PM EDT today (2:30 PM PDT). The Moon is in Sagittarius.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Avoid being righteous today, which is a temptation. When it comes to politics, religion or your personal beliefs, you might want to challenge others, especially because you have the support of someone older or more experienced. But what is the point? A pyrrhic victory? Remember: There are none so deaf as those who are wearing headphones.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Disputes about some kind of financial arrangement, shared property, taxes, insurance matters or an inheritance might arise today. Perhaps, you will appeal to the authority of someone older or in power. More likely, you will gain ground by joining the efforts of coworkers.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

You might feel annoyed with a close friend or partner today, especially about traditional beliefs or politics. Instead, focus on fun-loving, entertaining diversions. Why not? Accept invitations to party and socialize. Enjoy sports events and fun activities with kids. Have fun!

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

This is a lovely day to entertain at home or to invite people to congregate where you live. You might show off new ways you have improved your home. Admittedly, disputes concerning pets, your health, or your job might sidetrack you. Don’t waste your energy. Go with what works.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Parents might find relations with their kids to be challenging today. It happens. It certainly goes with the territory. Assistance from someone older might help. Meanwhile, interactions with siblings, relatives and neighbours will be upbeat. Enjoy a short trip.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

This is a good day for financial matters plus business and commerce. In fact, you might resurrect old ideas or finish a project, which ultimately leads to increased earnings or a financial boon for you. Don’t waste time on domestic squabbles, especially with female relatives. You don’t need this.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You like harmony around you. (This is why you are a people pleaser.) Avoid arguments with daily contacts today, which might easily arise. Instead, focus on relations with partners and close friends, which will be warm and supportive. Avoid disagreeable people because life is short (and fat.)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Steer clear of financial disputes, because they might ruin your day instead. Instead, enjoy quiet times with yourself and a few others in a private way. Good news about your health, as well as fun times with pets, will be a source of pleasure. Be happy!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

This is the classic day for an irritable exchange with a friend or partner because you’re both annoyed or you disagree with each other. Try to set that aside so that you can focus on interactions with clubs or groups, or a friend who is creative and artistic. This will save your day.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

It might be tough dealing with someone today, especially because you feel you can’t speak up. (You’re doing a slow boil behind the scenes, which is frustrating.) Fortunately, relations with parents, bosses and family members are positive. Go with what works.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Difficulties with kids, social situations or sports events might arise today. Your best option is to sidestep these difficult situations, which will only lead to some grief. Instead, talk to relatives, daily contacts and siblings because these interactions will be upbeat and pleasant.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Family squabbles and domestic challenges might take place today. Avoid these if you can. Ironically, this is an excellent day for business and commerce plus financial negotiations. If you play your cards right, money, gifts and goodies will come to you. Go where your bread is buttered! (This is a no-brainer.)

If Your Birthday Is Today

The 38th US President Jimmy Carter (1924) shares your birthday today. You are dignified. Even though are charming and likable, you like to be in control. You are confident and proud of your efforts to work hard. This year you reap the benefits of all your hard work because others notice your talents. You might be in the spotlight!

Scientists Studying Earth’s Trees Issue a Stark Warning to Humanity

From soaring coastal redwoods to dinosaur-era Wollemi pines and firs that make the perfect Christmas trees, even our most revered woody plants are in an awful lot of trouble.

But it turns out that losing some species won’t just endanger local forests; it will threaten entire ecosystems, says a new study.

Last year, a global assessment titled State of the World’s Trees found a shocking one-third of all tree species are currently teetering on the edge of existence.

This amounts to about 17,500 unique tree species that are endangered.

That’s more than double the number of all threatened tetrapods (mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles).

Some trees are so rare that only a single known individual remains, like the lonesome palm in Mauritius, Hyophorbe amaricaulis.

In a new paper, the same team of researchers behind the State of the World’s Trees reports issues a “warning to humanity” about the consequences of these losses, backed by 45 other scientists from 20 different countries.

Conservation biologist Malin Rivers from Botanic Gardens Conservation International and colleagues outline the many impacts these losses will have on our economies, livelihoods, and food.

Most of our fruit comes from trees, as do many nuts and medicines, with non-timber products amounting to about US$88 billion worth of trade.

In the developing world, 880 million people rely on firewood for fuel, and 1.6 billion people live within 5 kilometers (3 miles) of a forest, relying on them for food and income.

All up, trees contribute about US$1.3 trillion annually to the global economy, yet…

Equinox Sunrise Around the World

Collage Image Copyright: Luca Vanzella

Explanation: A planet-wide collaboration resulted in this remarkable array of sunrise photographs taken around the September 2022 equinox. The images were contributed by 24 photographers, one in each of 24 nautical time zones around the world. Unlike more complicated civil time zone boundaries, the 24 nautical time zones are simply 15 degree longitude bands corresponding to 1 hour steps that span the globe. Start at the upper right for the first to experience a sunrise in the nautical time zone corresponding to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) + 12 hours. In that time zone, the photographer was located in Christchurch, New Zealand. Travel to the west by looking down the column and then moving to the column toward the left for later sunrises as the time zone offset in hours from UTC decreases. Or, you can watch a video of September 2022 equinox sunrises around planet Earth.

You are high viz. today, which is why people notice you. In fact, some are discussing personal details about your private life. (Like, what’s with that?) Your interactions with someone might boost your earnings or help you to buy something you really like. Schmooze and keep your ears open.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Fashion Designer Virgil Abloh (1980) shares your birthday today. You are sensuous and romantic. You love the good life and appreciate beautiful things. You are tough and courageous and will champion the cause of justice and fair play. This year is the final year of a nine-year cycle, which means let go of what is no longer necessary. Commune with nature.

Celtic Tree Ivy Month: September 30 – October 27

From LearnReligions.com

As the year comes to a close and Samhain approaches, the Ivy moon rolls in at the end of the harvest season. Ivy often lives on after its host plant has died — a reminder to us that life goes on, in the endless cycle of life, death and rebirth. The Celts called this month Gort, pronounced go-ert. This is a time to banish the negative from your life. Do workings related to improving yourself, and placing a barricade between you and the things that are toxic to you. Ivy can be used in magic performed for healing, protection, cooperation, and to bind lovers together.

From Ireland-Calling.com

Ivy has many superstitions and beliefs attached to it.

Because it had the ability to form dense thickets in woodland, grow where other plants could not and block out the light from even the mighty oak, ivy was believed to be very powerful by the Druids, more powerful than its enemy, the vine and quite sinister.

The ivy and the vine have been seen as enemies since ancient times. This seems odd since the same Greek and Roman gods are associated with each.

Bacchus, god of wine

In Greek mythology ivy was sacred to Osiris and also associated with Dionysus. In Roman mythology Ivy was connected to Bacchus, the god of wine as it grew over his home land.

Bacchus is often portrayed wearing an ivy crown, perhaps because this was once thought to prevent intoxication. The poisonous berries of the ivy, when ground into a powder were also once believed to be a hangover cure.

The link between Bacchus and ivy was taken over to England where old English Taverns would display ivy above their doors indicating the high quality of their drinks.

The proverb ‘Good wine needs no bush’, meaning good wine speaks for itself, comes from this practice.

Gort, G –

Ivy, a symbol of strength and determination to the Druids, is the twelfth letter of the ogham alphabet, gort, and the eleventh month in the Celtic tree calendar, representing September 30th to October 27th.

Protection from evil

In old Ireland ivy was thought to provide protection from evil when growing on or near to a dwelling.

However, if it should die or fall down then misfortune would fall upon those therein.

Ivy was often carried by young women for good luck and fertility. Used at weddings intertwined with holly, the ivy would symbolise fidelity and at Yule-tide, would bring peace to the household.

Ivy was also linked to inspiration and worn by poets in the form of a crown.

I Am Doing Better

Yeah, my professional covid test came back negative. Boo-hiss, so I just have a lousy cold on top of bad allergies. I thank you all for your support, patience, and understanding while I have been depressed because of Sonny’s crossing the veil. I thank you also for you still following WOTC’s website even though I have not posted anything for a short while.

I am planning on catching up all the missed birthday posts on Thursday. Than on Friday do a full daily posting for all the regular posts for both hemispheres. Saturday I plan on getting back to do tomorrow posts for both hemispheres.

May you life be blessed with only positive things.

I Need to Start Making Lemonade

You know the old saying when life gives you lemons make lemon ade? Well I definitely have enough lemons right now to make big vats of it.

Someone came to Sonny’s wake with active covid. I, one of his stepdaughter, one of his daughters and her children plus an Aunt who’s in her 70s or 80s have all tested positive. Who knows how many more people will.

I’m hoping the person who brought it is only a carrier with no symptoms. If it was someone who knew they were positive and came anyway…no words to describe how I’m feeling about that person right now.

I Want to Hide From the World

Besides the fibromyalgia and arthritis I deal with clinical depression, anexity/panic disorder and PTSD from my dad’s death. I know some of you reading deal with the same or similar mental/emotional disorders so I decided to let you know and for me to know we do not have to go through problems physical, mental, and emotional alone.

There are times I need someone to talk to that is not blood family or my psychologist. As I think some of you may feel the same way. I want you to know I am here to listen either through an email, sent to ladybeltane@aol.com Subect – please listen, or through a call via Skype (it can be just a voice call or if you prefer a video call). As an ordained minister I am bond by ethics and my own morality to keep everything between just the person I’m talking to and myself.

Today my anexity is really bad not only because of Sonny’s crossing but also my dad’s in 1970 and my mom’s in 2015. I have endless loops going through my mind of how my dad and died plus their and Sonny’s funerals. I am going to be drinking a lot of valerian/ peppermint tea today to help me get out of my funk.

Why am I posting about mental and emotional health today? Why am I disclosing my disorders? I hope by doing so that I reach at least one person to know they are not alone with their disorders. I feel by my sharing what I am going through daily when I just cannot bring myself to get going to get on the computer and work because I just do not have the energy it takes to do them. I am going to take off from doing regular posts to do some very much needed self-care and mental flossing. I will let you all know how I am feeling each day. When I am ready to do posts knowing they do not have my negative energy in them I will be back.

Thank you for your understanding and support while I am going through this difficult time in my life.

Until we meet again my allergies positive things come into your life..
