For Your Listening Pleasure and a Request for the WOTC and CL Community

YouTube.com has surprisingly some very good pagan songs and other videos. This is one channel I have brought you song from in the past and wanted to share the entire channel with you in the hopes you will find a favorite and email me the name and link for it along with whatever name you want to use for me to give credit to you for finding it. Also a short or long story of why the song called to you. Even if it is a song I have previously posted it does not matter because the reason it calls to me will be different then why it calls to you.

If you have written a poem or pagan song and would like to share it with us I will make sure to put your copyright date up with the name it is copyrighted under.

So recap: Link and Title of the Song

A short or long story of why the Song touched or called to you. Your story can be one line up to however long you want to make it.

Name for me to give credit to for sharing the Song with our community.

I want to start including posts from our brothers and sisters who usually just read whatever we put up. We are a community that showed love, compassion, and togetherness when we saved this website and domain name. Now let us be more than me and the council of elders posting and all of you just reading.

Let’s show Lady Abyss how she was loved and honored for making this website possible in the first place in the 1990’s when to be a witch or pagan we had to keep it to ourselves or within our family and/or coven. Witches of The Craft with Lady Abyss at the helm was one of the few pioneers on the world wide web that was brave enough to speak up and out about real witchcraft not the type you see in movies or on TV or read fictional stories about. She got death threats weekly in the beginning which did taper off as other metaphysical and witchcraft websites started showing up on the world wide web but even a week before she crossed to the Summerlands she called to warn me that she had gotten an email threatening everyone who was part of WOTC. A couple of years ago ISIS, the radical group not the Goddess, threaten to cut off her head and display it for all the world to see what would happen to infidels. Did she run and hide NO instead she kept right on bring us new and interesting information from many different traditions of witchcraft. Then she found out that in the spring or summer of 2018 that members of ISIS were literally in the next county over from her. Did she run and hide then? NO she kept on keeping on with her website that she had put so many years and tears into. I will let you in on a secret that since she is not hear to tell me off for saying this, the real reason Lady Abyss sold WOTC was because every day after she was back in her cabin after it had been burnt to the ground by an arsonist all she felt was negativity come from the readers of WOTC and she felt most of you wanted her gone from here. I took WOTC over because I was grateful usually that Lady Abyss talked me into starting my own website COven Life it took her a while and a joke between us was that she twisted so hard it almost broke. I didn’t want to come out of my Solitary practice to take up the mantel of High Priestess to a coven and a mentor to new witches by opening a witchcraft school even though they were both online. I was perfectly happy posting on WOTC and I remember fighting tooth and nail until I just  gave up and gave in to Lady A’s vision for me. NOw I’m the owner of 2 websites, a witchcraft school, online coven, and love it. SO yes, A you were right to push me years ago. So again I ask you to please email me any type of contribution you want to make as part of the WOTC and CL community, not with money but with words, songs, a joke, whatever you feel like submitting as long as it is not erotica which could get this site thrown off of WordPress and believe me that’s the last thing I want to see happen after we all worked so hard to save this legacy of a wonderful, kind, beautiful, and giving woman. Take a minute to think where you might be on your own path if not for these websites and Lady Abyss than raise your cup or glass high and thank her. Blessed be my sisters and brothers of the WOTC and CL community.

Email whatever to me at WitchesCovenHearts@yahoo.com Please put For Posting in the email Subject Line. Thank you

My first Spell and Ritual

I am moving along with my Novice lessons and I wrote my first spell and Ritual and I must say I have never been so excited.

I am a published author and when I sat down to write my spell and ritual I thought “Oh gosh this will probably be hard.” But I sat down with confidence and wrote them both within an hour. It was amazing.

I want to say that I love this coven and everybody in it. Lady B is amazing and always there for me and Priestess Hypatia is also amazing. I just want thank the Coven for being there for me.

This is my path. I feel so connected now and its bring the best out of me. So thank you Coven Life and Witches of the Craft for allowing me to be me.

Blessed be,

Melinda

Mantras for the New Year

Happy New Year’s. I thought one of the best things for the new year is mantras. So, what are mantras? Mantras are repeating of words or sounds that is used to penetrate our unconscious mind. Usually they are chanting loudly but you can also say them silently or even listen to them.

So mantra for 2020 that I picked to post today is: “Believe in yourself, have faith, and remember you are important.”

Hope you practice this mantra to help you realize that you are one with the Universe and the 2020 is the year for change and you are the change.

Many Blessings,

Blessed be,

Melinda

What type of Witch are you?

Post published.View PostAdd titlePermalink:https://covenlife.co/2019/12/28/what-type-of-witch-are-you-2/‎(opens in a new tab)Edit

There are different types of witches so do you know which one you are? I feel its important to define what a “witch” is. To me, its somebody that practices witchcraft. With that being said, I don’t feel that you have to follow any certain religion to be a witch or practice witchcraft.

I will not go over all witch types here but the ones I feel is mostly used.

  1. Solitary Witch is someone who is not in a coven and practices rituals and spells alone. They either prefer not to join a coven or maybe its because they do not have one that resonates with them. They can use different paths and may or may not use witchcraft as part of their spiritual path.
  2. Traditional Witch is a someone who takes the historical route. They look at various ways such as witch trials, grimoires, historical accounts, and witch lore. This is how they lay their foundation for doing their spell work or rituals.
  3. Hereditary Witch is someone that is born into a family that practices witchcraft. Knowledge is passed down through generations and each one may practice in their own way.
  4. Eclectic Witch is someone who takes different ways from different witchcraft traditions, rituals, etc.
  5. Hedge Witch is someone that works with subtle spaces and the spirit world. A Hedge witch works with the liminal spaces and the spirit realm.
  6. Kitchen Witch is someone uses their home and surroundings as their sacred space. They focus on their food and cooking by putting energy into each meal. They may have their own herb garden.
  7. Green Witch is someone that are nature based. They are usually in-tune with each season and use natural material to create their own tools. They usually perform spell work or rituals outside.
  8. Cosmic Witch is someone that uses astrology in their witchcraft. They follow the alignment of the planets and usually they perform their spells and rituals  based on the position of the planets and moon.

Now, I will share what I do. I am Hereditary Witch, but I am also an Eclectic Witch and a Hedge Witch. I incorporate many different things, especially Native American.

I hope you enjoyed the post today…

Blessed be,

Melinda

The Witches Must Dos for Fridays

I'll Put A Spell On You!!The Witches Must Dos for Fridays

Fridays are days of loving enchantments and passionate emotions.

See how many ways you could add a little loving enchantment into your life and the lives of your loved ones. If you wish to explore the topic of love and romance witchery even further, then check out my book How to Enchant a Man: Spells to Bewitch, Bedazzle &Beguile. If cat magick has tickled your fancy, then for further study read my book The Enchanted Cat: Feline Fascinations, Spells &Magick.

In the meantime, try sharing red berries with your partner some enchanted evening. Work that meditation, and see what other mysteries Freya has to teach you. Wear a Venus planetary color and call on the Goddess for a little inner sparkle. Burn some floral incense, light up some rosy candles, and set a romantic mood. Try wearing a little copper jewelry, and see how it affects you and your Friday magick. Get those potpourri and philter recipes going, and see what you can conjure up.

Advancing your magickal skills takes drive, ambition, and passion. Work with Eros to discover just how much enthusiasm, inspiration, and drive he can bring into your days, for the imagination is a place where dreams flourish and ideas come to fruition.

Call on these fertile and romantic powers, and create your own unique spells and charms. Just think of all the magickal information that you can now add to your repertoire of witchery. Lastly, remember this: when you combine imagination and a loving heart with magick, you’ll succeed every time.

Full Moon Magick

Full Moon Magick

Definition:

The full moon is the point at which we can see an entire side of the moon. For magical purposes, most Wiccans and Pagans consider the full moon to include the day before and the day after a full moon, for a total of three days. If your tradition requires you to follow the phases of the moon for your magical workings, this is a good time to do rituals focused on personal growth and spiritual development.

Some examples would include:
Spells related to increasing your intuitive awareness
Healing magic
Rituals that connect you closely with deity, such as Drawing Down the Moon
Any magic related to developing your magical skills

For many Wiccans and Pagans, this is also a time to celebrate with an Esbat ritual.

Examples:

Willow and her coven celebrated the full moon with a ritual to hone their intuitive abilities.

Custom Made Magick for Saturday

Blessed Are The Witches
Custom Made Magick for Saturday

Protection, removing negativity, justice and balance have been the theme today. As we have just seen you can indeed a perform a binding and not cross the ethical line. Bindings are a more ethical route than cursing someone. But are there other options? Why, of course. I know of some Witches who, when they see a criminal’s face on television or read about them in the paper, mentally pain a white X over a criminal’s face while they say the phrase “I neutralize that person” with intention. This neutralizes the power and harm that the stranger causes.

If there is someone that you personally know who is causing you or your family harm, it is possible to use a photograph of the destructive person. Simply wrap white ribbon around their photo to symbolize you binding them up as you say, “I neutralize any physical or emotional harm that you are causing.”

But if you feel magickal bindings are the way to go, then perhaps your best course of action is to remove all emotion from yourself and the spell when you perform the binding. Just as I stated before, justice—like magick—is a neutral force. For lack of a better term, be businesslike. Wild swings of emotion only make for an uncontrollable magickal energy. Therefore, your best bet is to be neutral. If there was ever a time to be calm and in control, this is it. If you are not sure that you can pull off being neutral, then I suggest that you leave magick alone. It is essential to be in control. How much karma drama are you willing to pull into your life?

Monday is named after the moon. The Latin term for Monday is Dies Lunae (“moon’s day”); in the Old English language, this day was Monandaeg; in Greek, it was Hermera Selenes. All of these different names and languages translate to the same thing: the “day of the moon.”

Magickally, Monday encourages the lunar energies of inspiration, illusion, prophetic dreams, emotions, psychic abilities, travel, women’s mysteries, and fertility.

Let’s Talk Witch – Pantheon Pathways

witchcraft

Pantheon Pathways

As Witches, we often draw upon the mythology of many different lands to find the god and goddess figures that we identify with most strongly. And while this can vary greatly from Witch to Witch (like everything else we do-hey, at least we are not a bunch of boring conformists), many of us are drawn to the pantheons (from the Greek “temple of the gods,” meaning the officially recognized gods of a particular people) of the Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and Celtic cultures, with a few Norse and Hindu gods thrown in for good measure.

It is interesting to see how much the gods from one culture resemble the gods in another. It makes sense, I suppose, when you consider that most Pagan peoples had the same interests as we do today: love, protection, prosperity, the moon, growing things, etc.

In addition, it is historically possible in many cases to follow the path that a god took from one culture to another. For instance, many of the Roman gods and goddesses were taken more or less directly from the Greeks who preceded them.

It is fine to focus on one pantheon or culture, but it is also okay to mix and match. The gods that want you will find you, that much is for sure.

Wishing You A Very Prosperous & Blessed New Year! And A Very Magickal & Mystical Samhain This Year!

Samhain Comments & Graphics

THE DRUMS OF SAMHAIN

The drums of Samhain keeping time.

The gates of magic open wide.

A cauldron’s blessings overflow.

The candle flames are dying low.

The witches dance the circle ’round

to chant and bring the power down.

Hecate will hear our call

to turn the summer into fall.

The magic veil is growing thin.

The Netherworld is near our own.

We’ll see the sacred fire fed

while witches commune with the dead.

The winds of Autumn call our names.

The driving rhythm slowly calms.

The glowing embers we will tend

until the drums of Samhain end.

Your Daily Witches Rune for September 21 is The Star

f5680-star

f5680-starToday’s Witches Rune

The Star

Meaning: In many cultures, the Star is a symbol of hope, dreams and destiny, and in the Witches Runes this symbol has a similar connotation. When the Star rune appears, it’s green light for you to go after what you want.

Note that the Star does not say you’ll get everything you want without any work. No. This symbol is a not about easy success, but about having faith in what you are doing – and doing it. In fact, the goals suggested by the Star are usually the highest and most significant ones – the ones that are hardest to get. It does not matter what the dream is, but its significance in your life. This symbol also represents ideals, and they can be both individual and collective ones.

In a more down-to-earth way, the Star is related to revolutions, changes, risks, speculation and all things motivated by faith and ideals. It can represent a sudden spark on inspiration, a windfall, a sudden rise to fame or a promotion. Though the sudden changes brought by the Star are usually positive, they are also fast: you can get back to point zero as quickly as you rose. So don’t be afraid to jump forward when the opportunity arises.

The Star urges you to take the risk, to have hope and to trust. After the staleness of Crossroads, the Universe finally begins to move again. If you believe in Higher Powers, this symbol shows that They are guiding you in this moment. The Star is a very positive rune, but in a more negative context it can represent revolution for revolution’s sake and the constant idealization of people and situations. It can also stand for excessive individualism when going after a dream.

In relationship readings, this rune represents hope and an idealistic kind of love. Usually the people involved in the relationship have high expectations about the other. They easily put their partner on a pedestal, only to feel frustrated when reality strikes. The Star can also represent unrequited love, or the love for someone who is unattainable. On the other hand, this rune tells you to not give up love entirely – keep looking, because someone is coming.

As the sun sets

The moon rises.

We are called.

Gathering deep in the forest

Our capes flap in the wind.

Hoods covering our head

As we form our circle

Hand in hand we take our places.

The elements are called forth:

Wind, rain, earth and fire.

We are filled with their energy.

In a low chant

We call for our Mother.

The Goddess answers our call,

She stands before us,

Center in our circle.

We lower our heads to her grace.

Our circle is filled with her love.

Energy flows from her to us.

Slowly we rise;

Our feet no longer touch the ground.

Wind rips through the trees.

Flames raise high from the fire.

Rain beats on the earth below

Yet, we remain dry.

Power transfers from Sister to Sister.

The Goddess’s influence is felt.

Sounds from the forest fill the air.

All is alive.

Energy fills all there,

We know who we are,

The Witches of the present.

Those long past have joined us.

We know our beginning.

We know our past.

We know our future,

Witches now and forever.

The Witches Credo

d7bd6-0e574554a7696e836c188940043aa1d4

The Witches Credo

Hear now the word of the Witch,
the secrets once hid in the night,
When darkness was for protection,
We now bring forth in the light.
Mysteries of the Water and Fire,
The Earth and the wide-ranging Air,
By hidden Quintessence we know them,
and we bring honor in silence and fair,
The birth and rebirth of all Nature,
the passing of Winter and Spring,
We share with the life Universal,
rejoicing in the never-ending,
Ring Four times in the year we give homage,
come forth the Witches are seen,
At Lammas and Candelas we’re dancing,so too on,
May Eve and old Halloween,
When daytime and nighttime are equal,
when sun is at it’s greatest and least,
The four lesser Sabbats are summoned,
again the Witches gather in feast,
Thirteen silver moons in a year,
thirteen to be the magikal array,
Thirteen times at Esbat we make merry,
for the work of the night and the day.
The knowledge has passed down the ages,
each time between woman and man
Each century unto the other,
old times since the ages began.
When drawn in the Magikal circle,
by sword or athame of light,
It’s compass between two worlds opens,
in honor and love for this night.
Our world has no right to know it,
and the world beyond will tell naught,
The oldest of Gods are invoked there,
the great work of light’s
Magik is wrought.
For two are the mystical pillars,
that stand at the gate of the shrine,
And two are the powers of Nature,
the forms and the forces divine.
Do what thou wilt be the challenge,
so be it in love that harms none,
For this is the only commandment,
By wisdom of faith so let it be done.
