Tau Herculids from Space

Image Credit & CopyrightZhuoxiao Wang, Yangwang-1 Space Telescope, Origin.Space

Explanation: On May 31 tens of parallel meteor streaks were recorded in this 8 degree wide field of view of planet Earth’s limb from space. The image is one of a series of 5 minute long observations by the orbiting Yangwang-1 space telescope. It was captured at 03:43 UT, near the peak of the Tau Herculid meteor shower. As predicted, the meteor shower was an active one this year, caused as Earth swept through a relatively dense stream of debris from disintegrating Comet 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 3, but was lacking bright meteors. Nearly all of the Tau Herculid meteors in the Yangwang-1 image are too faint to be detected by groundbased instruments. But on that date patient earthbound skywatchers under clear skies still enjoyed a memorable showing of the Tau Herculids.

7500 years old ancient goddess relic discovered in Israel

Cover picture for the article

During an excavation in Eilat, Israel, archaeologists found an extremely ancient idol. It is believed to represent an important Semitic goddess.

In Eilat, situated in the south of Israel, archaeologists have discovered an idol dating back several thousand years. Carved from a tree trunk, this artefact is believed to be an object designed in honour of Asherah, the goddess who was the wife of the creator god Yahweh, as reported by Arkeonews.

Asherah, a symbol of fertility

According to Geo, before turning to monotheism, the Hebrew people were polytheistic, meaning that they worshipped a multitude of gods. In ancient times, they idolised Asherah, a goddess who is said to have been the mother of 70 other divine entities. She was given various names and functions. Asherah is also known as Ashratum or Baalat and is sometimes associated with the supreme god El or Baal. Her name is also mentioned in the Bible. A symbol of fertility, it is represented as a female figure, a tree or a pole. In Eilat, archaeologists have (re)discovered a 30 cm relic carved from a trunk.

An ancient archaeological site

The Red Sea is definitely rich in artefacts. Just after the Blemmyes Tomb found in Egypt, this relic is another great archaeological find. The site where the relic was found has been excavated by scientists since 1978. According to Arkeonewsit contained 11 simple tombs and 20 burial mounds. The site adds that:

The presence of the juniper trunk clearly shows that the site was reserved for the worship of goddesses, and it is probably the oldest Asherah idol found in the region (it has been carbon-dated to 4540 BC).

Why Is Self-Reflection So Essential Now?

Why Is Self-Reflection One of the Most Important Things You Can Do Now?

Collectively and individually, we’re living through a MAJOR transformation.

Perhaps you’ve noticed?

We are living in the transition between ages, and waves and waves of light and cosmic energy are flooding onto the planet right now.

This time has long been foretold in a variety of spiritual lineages, teachings, and cultures.

We are transitioning out of the Kali Yuga (Age of Darkness) into the Satya Yuga (Age of Truth).

These are Sanskrit words… But know that this time has not only been prophesied about by the Vedics, but also the Toltecs, Mayans, Essenes, and so many more wise lineages and traditions.

We’re in transition and preparation times, for a HUGE Shift.. The awakening of Gaia Mother Earth (and humanity) to a whole new level.

For Millions of years, Gaia’s consciousness has been in a sort of slumber, a sleep state.

This gave humanity the opportunity to play out distorted “games” of separation, war, destruction, suffering and lack – all consciously and unconsciously chosen through free will.

But this is now beginning to shift. Gaia is waking up, and …

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Today you’re on a mission, which is why conversations with others are important. Errands, tasks and appointments will keep you busy. (Check Moon Alert above.) However, later in the day, you’re ready to socialize at home. Invite the gang over for good food and drink!

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Money and financial concerns might predominate your day. If shopping, be aware of the Moon Alert. Later in the day, you will be eager to talk to others. You might want to travel, learn new things and be involved with groups.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

For most of this day, the Moon is in your sign. Initially, conversations with younger people will be stimulating, especially with people you haven’t seen for a while. Mid-day there could be hiccups with power struggles. Later, your finances look good! Shopping will appeal.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Initially, you want to be low key today and work alone or behind the scenes. Note: Efforts to make improvements or introduce reforms might meet with opposition. No worries. Later in the day, the Moon is in your sign, which means you hold all the cards.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Busy discussions with partners and close friends might take place today, especially about publishing, the media or possible travel plans. Some of you will be concerned about medical or legal matters. Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Don’t worry about power struggles. As the day wears on, think about vacations and future travel plans that promise fun times ahead!

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Vacations, social plans, sports events and kids might be the subject of discussion today. This is a good time to make social plans, even though you might encounter some speed bumps dealing with someone. Later, a gift or a favour from someone will please your family or home scene.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Discussions with younger family members will be productive today. People are eager to get things done. Possibly, they will address health issues as well. (Expect some resistance.) Later in the day, good times with partners and friends will be a blessing!

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

This is a playful fun-loving day; nevertheless, issues with kids about trips, travel, learning, errands and appointments will keep you busy. You might encounter power struggles. Later in the day, money related to your job or your work looks promising! Ka-ching!

A 10,000 Kilometer Galactic Bridge

Image Credit & CopyrightMaxime OudouxJean-Francois GELY

Explanation: With this creative astro-collaboration you can follow the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy as it bridges northern and southern hemisphere skies. To construct the expansive composite nightscape, skies over Observatorio El Sauce in Chile (top) were imaged on the same date but 6 hours later than the skies over the Saint-Veran observatory in the French Alps. The 6 hour time-lag allowed Earth’s rotation to align the Milky Way above domes at the two sites. All exposures were made with similar cameras and lenses mounted on simple tripods. A faint greenish airglow is visible in the dark Chilean sky that also features the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds near the observatory dome. In the French Alps light pollution is apparent, but the distant Andromeda Galaxy can still be spotted near the horizon in the northern night. On planet Earth the two observatories are separated by about 10,000 kilometers.

Summerland

From moonlitpriestess.com

Term originating from the Theosophical Society; the place where the soul goes between incarnations; believed by some to refer to Sumeria where many beliefs and traditions may have originated. Some descriptions are similar to Christian beliefs of Heaven, where we meet with our loved ones who died before us, only the Summerland is more of a stop along the way in a much longer journey rather than a permanent place.

Moon Alert

There are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions today. The Moon is in Cancer.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Family conversations along with your routine at home will be a bit unpredictable today. Someone might do or say something you least expect. Something unusual might occur. This could be enlivening for you or irritating. Remember: Patience is a virtue.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

New ideas, new places, new people and new situations will make today a fascinating day for you. Do stay on your toes so you can keep up with what’s happening. Write down your clever ideas for future reference. Pay attention to everything you say and do to avoid accidents.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Keep an eye on your money and your belongings today because something untoward or unexpected could impact them. For example, you might find money or you might lose money. Be smart and protect your belongings against loss, theft or damage. Ka-ching!

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Today you feel impulsive and perhaps a bit reckless because the Moon is in your sign dancing with wild, wacky Uranus. (Zing!) This can introduce an electric energy around you. It will give you a pleasant feeling of restlessness and a desire for excitement. “Wazzup?”

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Today you feel vaguely restless. You might attract someone to you who shakes things up a little because you want some kind of change to take place today, at one level or another. You’ve decided that either you’re going to bring this change about, or you’re going to watch it from the sidelines.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

A friend or a member of a group might surprise you today. Perhaps they will suggest something you didn’t expect to hear? Or you might be surprised that the group itself is embracing a different direction? You might meet a real character today.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Someone in a position of authority might surprise you today. This could be anyone from your parent to a boss to a VIP. (Yes, it could also be the police. Be aware of the fact that this is possible in case you have to do some damage control.) Be smart and use any connections you have to your advantage.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Today, you’re ready for action. You want some adventure! Actually, you might encounter surprises due to the fact that travel plans are cancelled or delayed. University and college schedules are also dicey and unpredictable. Stay tuned to know what’s happening.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Double check details related to banking, taxes, debt and shared property because something unexpected could impact these areas. If so, you don’t want to be caught off guard. Stay on top of your scene to prevent slipups that might cost money.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You might meet someone new and exciting today. Or possibly, a friend or a partner will throw you a curveball. (Get ready.) Of course, you might do something to provoke an argument or stir the pot because you want to shake things up a little. (Naughty you.)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Because your work routine or something to do with your job might be interrupted today, give yourself extra time to deal with the unexpected. Staff shortages, delayed deliveries, broken equipment and power outages are some possibilities. Stay cool and be prepared.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Parents should be extra vigilant today because this is an accident-prone day for their kids. Meanwhile, social plans might suddenly change. Events could be cancelled, including sports. (Guard against sports accidents.) Or possibly, you will be surprised by a fun invitation to go somewhere? If so, act quickly because this window of opportunity will be brief.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Actor Dennis Haysbert (1954) shares your birthday today. You are sensitive, creative and ambitious. You care about what other people think about you. You are caring and kind; but you like to be in control. This year holds exciting changes for you and a chance to achieve more personal freedom. Trust your intuition and be open to new friends that come into your world.

Lunar Occultation of Venus

Explanation: On May 27 Venus rose as the morning star, near the waning crescent Moon in a predawn sky already full of planets. It was close on the sky to the Moon’s crescent and a conjunction of the second an third brightest celestial beacons were enjoyed by skygazers around the world. But seen from locations along a track through southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean the Moon actually passed in front of Venus in a lunar occultation. In this animated gif the 75 percent illuminated disk of Venus approaches and just begins to disappear behind the sunlit southwestern lunar limb. The telescopic frames used to construct it were captured from Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean around 4:50am local time, with the Moon and Venus very close to the eastern horizon. At the time Venus was over 180 million kilometers from Reunion Island, compared to a lunar distance of a mere 400 thousand kilometers or so. About 50 minutes later Venus emerged from behind the Moon.
