Incense Burners Used In Dragon Magick

Incense Burners Used In Dragon Magick

As incense burner is also very helpful for dragon magic, just as in all magical rituals. A burner with chains is best because the magician can move it about without getting burned. One can use the little self-lighting charcoal tables especially made for incense to burn the appropriate herbs and gums. In a pinch, the magician can use incense sticks or cones, choosing the scents to match the ritual.

CRYSTAL GAZING – PART ONE

CRYSTAL GAZING – PART ONE

Karen Charboneau-Harrison

Crystal Gazing is a type of SCRYING (meaning to descry, to observe, to see). Scrying is an old English term for divining by gazing at an object, whether it be a pool of water, a mirror, a shining orb or a crystal ball to foretell past, present or future events. The object upon which one gazes is called, in general terms, a speculum.

Scrying is an ancient divinatory practice common to all cultures. In Egypt, a few drops of ink were placed in water in the palm of the hand and a small child was employed to gaze upon it; the Maories of New Zealand used blood in the same way. At the Temple of Demeter on the coast of Achaia a mirror was lowered by a cord to the temple fountain until the edge of the mirror just touched the water. Then a priestess of Demeter would divine the health of the querent by images found on the mirror’s surface. In America, people of the Pawnee nation would pour the blood of a badger into a ceremonial bowl and the children of the tribe would gaze at the surface to see their future as part of an initiatory rite.

Scrying is a very subjective divinatory art and, as such, serves to develop the intuitive and receptive psychic talents to a high degree. The different specula employed such as crystal balls (crystallomancy), pools of water (hydromancy), and magick mirrors (catoptromancy) all can be used equally well to see past, present and future.

Naturally enough, crystallomancy is practiced with a crystal ball and tradition dictates the use of a ball shaped from rock crystal, which is a clear and colorless quartz. Rock crystal has an inner geometric trigonal formation which is considered part of the hexagonal pattern, the difference between the two being that although they both form hexagrams, hexagonal formations come to a point at both ends and trigonal forms a cylinder. Being trigonal, rock crystal gives off energy and will not absorb it. It will amplify and interact with the energies of the individual using it, making it a useful healing stone as well as scrying tool. Since rock crystal will not absorb energy, the initial purification, consecration and charging of the stone is enough for the duration of its use. Rock crystal has the ability to define and clarify which accounts for its popularity in divination. The purchase of a rock quartz crystal ball, however, can run from, at the least, $150.00 and can move into the tens of thousands of dollars for a gazing ball. Also available for scrying are leaded glass balls and reconstituted rock crystal balls, both of which are more affordable. Leaded glass balls and reconstituted rock crystal balls (these are made by grinding up rock crystal into powder and then reshaping the material into a ball of whatever diameter desired) are perfectly clear while untreated rock crystal balls have naturally occurring striations, refractions and other optical inclusions which I have found to be very helpful to focus on while scrying.

Hydromancy, (gazing into a pool of still water), is closely related to crystal gazing. All that needs to be procured is a cup or goblet to gaze into – the methods of scrying are the same. As with any tool used magickally, this cup or goblet will be used only for gazing and will be put away from curious eyes and hands when not in use. You may wish to paint the inside of the goblet black or leave it as is. If you wish to paint it, refer to the directions for painting the magick mirror which you’ll find below.

Dr. John Dee, the famous magician during Queen Elizabeth the First’s reign, used both a crystal ball and a magick mirror made of jet. Ceremonial magicians use a magick mirror composed of a seven metal alloy. However, you don’t have to be a stone mason or metal smith to have a magick mirror. The simplest magick mirror is one constructed from a round, concave piece of glass from an old clock face, old picture frame or purchased at a glass shop. You should construct your mirror when the moon is full in Cancer, Pisces or Scorpio. Purify in your usual way and then paint the convex side (the side that bows out) with black enamel paint into which you have mixed a little powdered cinnamon, gum mastic and ground wormwood. You must paint the surface three times, allowing the paint to dry thoroughly between each coat. Now you’ll make a stand for your mirror from a piece of square wood that is an inch or two wider than the mirror glass. This can be painted black like your mirror or just left natural. Make a round hollow in the center of the wood to set the curve of your mirror. You can also use a book stand to allow your mirror to set up for ease in gazing.

CONSECRATION AND CHARGING OF THE SPECULUM

Before consecrating and charging any tool, you will always purify it to remove any extraneous energies that it might have absorbed before your use. Take a cup of distilled or spring water and sprinkle approximately ½ teaspoon of sea or rock salt into it. Wash the tool, in this case your speculum, with the salt water, visualizing the salt water (representing the elements earth and water) cleansing the object of any negative vibrations that may have accrued to it before your use. Next, light an incense charcoal and place some frankincense resin or Purification incense on it in an incense burner. Pass the speculum through the resulting incense smoke and again visualize the object being cleansed and purified by the elements fire and air.

On a night when the Full Moon is in Pisces, Cancer or Scorpio (consult your favorite almanac for this information) gather together your speculum, spring water, salt, gum mastic, wormwood, wisteria oil, a dark silk cloth, a cup containing distilled or spring water, an incense burner, Scrying incense and incense charcoal and a lavender candle.

Outside in a secluded place, bathed in the light of the full moon, place your speculum and other equipment down on a flat surface. Light your candle and incense. Consecrate your water by placing the salt in it and purify your speculum and silk cloth with this water. Place the cloth on the ground with the speculum on top of it and ring your speculum with salt on the cloth. Now drop a little gum mastic into the spring water in your cup, keeping in mind the gum mastic’s divination aiding properties. Next drop in a little wormwood, keeping in mind it’s qualities of grounding and balancing. Now drop 7 drops of the wisteria oil into the water. With each drop of your wisteria, say your personal charging mantra. Gaze into the infusion you have made in the cup and release into it your psychic energy, thereby charging and magnetizing the water.

Hold your speculum up to the Moon and dedicate it to clear perception and compassionate understanding. Begin bathing your speculum with the infusion. Now set it back onto the dark cloth and inside the ring of salt. Allow the speculum to dry while you meditate on it.

Let it sit out in the light of the full moon until the moon sets. The speculum is now ready for use – no further charging is necessary for future gazing. Keep your speculum out of the sun light and in a safe quiet place when it is not in use.

Circle Casting #2

Circle Casting #2

Clean the space physically with your broom or even a vacuum. Purify by burning incense. As you purify, visualize all the negative and disturbing energies leaving your sacred space.

The altar should face the North (the direction of Earth, representing the Goddess) or East (the direction of the rising sun and represents the God). At each of the four Watchtowers, place some sort of mark or object. North is Earth (bowl of salt, a crystal, or bowl of soil). East is Air (incense, flowers or a feather). South is Fire (red or orange candle, obsidian stone). West is water (a bowl of water or shell).

Take your athame or wand to the North. Trace the outline of the circle. Visualize energy extending out to the circle boundary. Do this 3 times. Say as you trace:

“I cast this circle to protect me from outside influences. I charge this circle to draw in only loving and helping vibrations. I create sacred space.”

When you return to the North, face toward your circle’s barrier. Raise your athame or wand. Say:

“God, Goddess and Guardians of the North. Powers of the Earth. I call you to attend my circle.”

Move to the East. Raise your wand or athame. Say:

“God, Goddess, and Guardians of the East, I call you to attend my circle.”

Move to the South. Raise your wand or athame. Say:

“God, Goddess, and Guardians of the South. Power of fire, I call you to attend my circle.”

Move to the West. Raise your wand or athame and say:

“God, Goddess, and Guardians of the West. Powers of water, I call you to attend my circle.”

Return to the altar and proceed with ritual work.

CANDLE SPELL FOR JUSTICE OR HELP IN LEGAL MATTERS

CANDLE SPELL FOR JUSTICE OR HELP IN LEGAL MATTERS

It does not require a sword only Tarot and candles.
You might want to burn some herbs or incense associated with justice while doing this spell.
Also a simple yet incredibly powerful protection spell is done with a small or medium sized
mirror you can hold in your hands.
While holding the mirror facing outwards in other words not showing your reflection but
turned to reflect out, turn in a counter clockwise circle to banish while saying:
Circle of reflection, Circle of protection,
May the sender of all harm, Feel the power of this charm.
This does not send any negative energy at the sender hence eliminating the cause
and effect portion of negativity adding to negativity but it reflects back anything being
directed at you. So it bounces off you instead of affecting you.
Circle three times full round chanting this or until you feel it is complete, then make
a closing statement such as: So Be It

Calendar of the Sun for Tuesday, February 21

Calendar of the Sun

Feralia: Day of Purification

Color: White
Element: Air
Altar: On a white cloth put a lit candle, incense, a cup of water, and a bowl of salt.
Offering: Although this day is not a day of total silence, it is a solemn day and talking should be done only when necessary and in quiet tones. Bodies should be thoroughly cleaned during the bathing hour, and then the altar area should be cleaned and purified with all four elements. Each person, upon entering the altar space at the beginning of Sponde should remove their clothing and be naked, and each body should be purified with the four elements and marked with water and salt, at which point they may enrobe again. Chores of the day should concentrate on cleaning and repair.
Daily Meal: Vegan and extremely simple and plain.

Feralia Invocation

Breathe the air into your body
And breathe out again,
And as you breathe out,
Let all grime and corruption
Depart on that breath
(All breathe together for twelve breaths.)
Feel the blood coursing through your body
And imagine it clean
Of anything but what should be there.
Feel the energy coursing through your body
And wash it clean
Of anything that does not belong.
Feel the Earth beneath you,
Remember that She can absorb all
Remember that all rot is her provenance
Draw her energy up into you
And give it back again.

(After this grounding, all breathe together again in a yogic breathing pattern for the next half an hour, after which all will go with water and salt and incense and fire to all rooms in the house and cleanse them. Great care should be taken for the rest of the day not to disturb the energy of the freshly cleaned house.)

WOTC’s Spell of the Day for Feb. 17th – Cat Dreams

Cat Dreams

This spell teaches you how to energetically shape shift into a cat in your dreams. Shape shifting allows you merge with a particular animal spirit and to bring the power and wisdom of this spirit into your own being. It means you can be as sleek, sure-footed, and cunning as a cat when you need to be. These can be very good traits which is why cats are so adaptive and prone to survival. Their ancestors have been around for thousands and thousands of years.

You will need pictures of cats and sandalwood incense. Cats come in many different colors, sizes and personality types. Become familiar with these many faces of cats, and in particular, what face most closely resembles who you are as a person. Take time to observe as many cats as you can. Watch how they interact with other cats and how they interact with humans. Merge with the cat spirit and become one with the cat Goddess, Bast.

Tonight before you go to sleep, put the pictures of cats on your altar and light the sandalwood incense. Call out to the cat Goddess Bast:

Dear Bast, Goddess of the divine feline

Please come to me tonight during dreamtime.

Blessed dreams! Blessed Be!

As you close your eyes to go to sleep, let the images of cats move through your mind’s eye. Merge with the cat spirit, and repeat to yourself as you drift to sleep:

Tonight I dream with the cat spirit. Blessed be, Bast!

Lower to chest level and slowly breathe into the cauldron, silently naming each habit, person or experience you wish removed from your life

When finished, turn the cauldron or goblet upside down on the altar, saying:

“The contents of this vessel I give to thee,

Great Ones. Exchanges these experiences

for better.”

Place an offering of herbs and milk outside. Or at least burn the herbs in your censer. This is best done during the Waning Moon.

BREAKING A BINDING SPELL

BREAKING A BINDING SPELL
Some binding spells can cause physical manifestations.
You feel as if invisible strands of hair or thin strings are wrapped around you.
You can’t see them but you can feel them and nothing you do can make that sensation stop.
Here is a way to dispel a binding.
Cut a bit of your own hair and set it in a small bowl.
Light 3 candles, 1 red, 1 white and 1 green. In a fire safe bowl or incense brazier, light a
piece of charcoal and add some myrrh, patchouli and sandalwood incense (powdered kind
not cone or stick). Take a sterile needle or pin and prick your right index finger.
Squeeze three drops of blood into the smoldering incense.
As you drop the hair onto the lit incense repeat these words:
With blood, candle and scent times three
No longer shall this binding be
Free to live and free to soar
Let me leave the house once more.
As I burn this hair, a part of me
Let my heart and soul be free!
And for those who doth cast despair
Binding me with sightless hair
I send to them this well-earned curse
Let their evil spell reverse!
Teach them mercy and love’s sweet gift
Once learned, this simple spell shall lift.
As is my will, so mote it be!
Let the incense burn out and scatter the ashes outside.
Lifting the binding spell should take care of the problem. Keep an eye on those around you.
Someone who wished you ill will start to experience the torment they put you through.
Once they understand that what they did was wrong, then the sensation will fade
and they will be back to normal.

A Garden Dedication (Earth Magick)

A Garden Dedication

A special god or goddess garden can be wonderful addition to your landscaping with a small amount of planning. As an example, we will look at a garden dedicated to Hecate. Hecate is the ruler of the three-way crossroads, so if it is possible to place her garden close to one, it would be a smart choice. Traditionally, altars dedicated to Hecate were erected at such locations. For plant choices, look up her history and choose plants that have symbolic connection to her, such as the poppy flower, azalea bush, and cypress tree. For decoration, a lantern is a good choice, as Hecate is said to always carry a torch and to be the embodiment of a living flame. A statue is always a wise choice as well.

In your overall landscaping, you can place a small tribute garden to Hecate where the paths meet in a three way-crossroads, if you have no actual roads near your gardens. This is probably the safer choice to avoid toxic fumes from vehicles bothering your delicate plants.

Once the planting is complete, it is time to dedicate the garden. If you included any sort of altar components in your design, simply set it up for use. If you didn’t you can erect a temporary altar from a garden bench or large stone. If you can plan your planting schedule around the moon phases, so much the better. The dedication ritual should ideally be performed under a full moon.

Supplies:

A chalice, filled with a sweet red wine

Several sticks of willow or sandalwood incense

4 clear quartz crystals, programmed with growth and love

Go around the garden and place the incense sticks in the ground. Light them and blow out the flames so that they begin to smoke. Once the aroma begins to drift through the gardens, say something along the lines of, “This smoke consecrates this garden as sacred ground. Only love and light may enter here.”

Next, take the crystals and bury them at the cardinal points while calling upon the universal energies of each direction to aid your garden in its task to thrive. Be specific and ask each direction to bless the garden and leave behind some of its essence. Important note: You are not calling the corners per se, so a dismissal is not mandatory. However, if you feel you should include one, by all means do so.

Now walk the circle with the chalice in hand, and splash the wine about the garden. Say, “I dedicate this land and all it contains to Hecate. Blessed it shall be. May it thrive and hold fast to her honor. As it is sacred ground, no one may pollute it. Hecate, come and dwell in your sanctuary!” Clap your hands three times. The dedication is now complete.

Tend this garden faithfully but allow for nature to run its course. Hecate may have plans to add a plant here and there, and this should be allowed. However, you should remove any weeds (especially those that are not related to Hecate) and, if necessary water the ground. Accept the notion that Hecate will reside with you as long as this area is maintained properly.

You can create a generic goddess garden by following the basic outline of a moon garden. Moon gardens frequently include all the silvery herbs as opposed to the greener varieties. They often feature gazing gloves, wind chimes, white stones for pathways, and white stone benches for relaxing. Moon gardens often delight scents, as most of the flowers are very aromatic.

If you decide to incorporate lighting into a moon-garden design, keep it subtle and stick to pathways only. You want the moonlight to reflect off of the white and silvery plants, creating a glow. Important note: When sitting in a moon garden at night, it is not unusual to be attacked by insects. Prepare yourself beforehand with a solution of mint essential oil diluted in rubbing alcohol.
