Daily Feng Shui News for March 5th – ‘Saint Piran’s Day’

If you are reading this in the British town of Cornwall then you won’t be surprised to hear that today is ‘Saint Piran’s Day,’ a day dedicated to celebrating the life of the patron saint of that British town. St. Piran quickly became a favorite amongst tin miners after he accidentally became the first person in Cornwall to teach tin smelting. Tin, or the metal element on the whole, plays a very important role in the Feng Shui philosophy. Metal is one of the five favored Feng Shui elements and is associated with the center or middle of the right hand side of your living space. The presence of anything metal placed in this ‘Children/Creativity’ area energizes that element and is believed to attract silver and gold. If you want to bring success and wealth as well as child-like wonder and tons of creativity into your life, you are well advised to place something metal in that space.

Feng Shui to Benefit Your Body

Feng Shui to Benefit Your Body

How to apply the principles of Feng Shui to your body

Stephanie Dempsey  Stephanie Dempsey on the topics of health, feng shui

Feng Shui isn’t just good for the home — it’s also good for the body!

Each part of the home or office corresponds to a different part of the body. If you’re suffering from aches or pains, alleviate the trouble by making adjustments to the appropriate “gua” — or section — of your home. This may seem like a fanciful notion, but you could experience immediate relief as a result. There’s a reason Feng Shui has been around for more than three thousand years!

Here are a few Feng Shui tips to benefit your body:

Ears

Health issues related to your ears are linked to the career gua, which is located in the center of the wall containing the main entrance door. Revamp this space if you’ve suffered a hearing loss or have difficulty being heard. If people accuse you of being in denial, you may also want to check this area for any grime, squeaky hinges or stuck doors.

Hands

If you’re experiencing difficulty with your hands or fingers, check the near left corner of your home, which is also known as the wisdom gua. Excessive clutter or faulty electronic equipment could be aggravating problems like arthritis, hyperhidrosis (sweaty palms) and nail fungus. You might also want to check the wisdom gua if you have difficulty handling a relationship or keeping in touch with friends.

Feet

If you develop foot trouble, examine the center portion of the left side of your home. This is the family gua, which is linked to the ability to stand on your own two feet. Dying plants, excessive heat or an overload of electronics can trigger anything from athlete’s foot to plantar warts. Trouble in the family gua can also make it difficult for you to move forward in life.

Skeletal system

Conditions that affect your hips, pelvis or bones are linked to the prosperity gua, which sits in the far left corner of your home. Check this space if you are suffering from hip dysplasia, back pain or osteoporosis. The prosperity gua is also tied to your ability to stand up to bullies. Too much light, heat or electrical equipment can compound all of these health issues.

Eyes

Problems involving the eyes are linked to the fame gua, which sits in the center portion of the far wall of your home. Examine this area if you suffer from poor eyesight, glaucoma or conjunctivitis. Cloudy mirrors, leaky faucets and grime are common manifestations of eye trouble. If you have difficulty being recognized for your contributions, you might also want to examine the family gua for trouble.

Abdominal area

Health issues related to your stomach, intestines and genitals are linked to the relationship gua, which rests in the far right corner of your home. Keep this space free of rickety furniture, faulty electrical equipment and drafts. Such problems could be manifested as ulcers or colitis. You should also attend to the relationship gua if you’re emotionally incapable of experiencing intimacy.

Mouth and respiratory system

If you have canker sores, dental problems or asthma, examine the creativity gua for problems. This gua is located in the center portion of the right side of your home. Excessive heat and light can irritate such health problems — so can leaky ceilings, faucets and toilets. On an emotional level, creative blocks and shyness are tied to this area.

Head

Headaches, brain injuries, mental problems, lice and dandruff are all linked to the helpful people gua, which sits in the near right corner of your home. Check this area for junk, leaks and excessive heat. If you have a drain in this spot, keep it covered when you’re not using it. On an emotional level, problems with authority figures can also be addressed by making adjustments to the helpful people gua.

Overall health

If you’re suffering from a serious health matter that affects every part of your body — like heart disease, cancer, HIV, cystic fibrosis or multiple sclerosis — check the health gua. This space is located at the center of your home. Keep this area open, spacious and airy. Walls, staircases, columns and other obstructions can cause problems here. Paint these obstructions earth tones like honey, chocolate or pumpkin. Cover stairs with a soft carpet, and place a square area rug at the top and bottom of the staircase. Hang a round faceted crystal from a 9-inch red ribbon at the top of the stairs. If you have a column in this space, hang mirrors at eye level on every side of it. This will symbolically cause the pillar to vanish, relieving any obstructions to your health. If it’s a round column, encircle it with a strip of silver paper that sits at eye level. You might also want to check the health gua if your life feels off-balance.

Daily Feng Shui News for March 2 – ‘Fame’

Many of us will be tuned into the 86th Annual Academy Awards tonight, an event that showcases the achievements of the film industry’s best and brightest. If you would like to be thought of as a star within your own industry, then Feng Shui says that you should light up your ‘Fame’ area. This arena is located at the back center or back middle of your living space. One way to fire up the ‘Fame’ energies is to place nine small red candles in that space and light them whenever you want to heat up your recognition factor. When this works for you and you receive an award, the first thing I want to hear you say is, ‘I’d like to thank Ellen –.’

Today’s energies focus on the plight of the polar bear, a species now facing extinction due to climate change. On this day, do something ‘green’ that will contribute to restoring balance to the planet. Recycle something you would normally throw away. Turn off lights and water when not in use. Reuse paper towels and wash windows with newspaper. There are a million small ways to make one gigantic difference. Do something proactive today. Do something polaractive today. You do make a difference. If they could speak, I’m sure the world’s polar bears would thank you.

Feng Shui Tip for February 24th: Magical Taoist Feng Shui

I’d like to close out February, the month of love, by sharing one of my favorite techniques for finding a soul mate. Sorry guys, but this tip only holds true for single ladies. Magical Taoist Feng Shui says that wearing a ring on your right index finger for three months will attract a partner to you. Once you’ve met your mate, switch the ring to the middle finger of your right hand in order to literally engage your perfect partner. If you feel that the romance the ring brought you is worth a lifetime, wear it on your right middle finger for three more months. I know this cure works — I really do!

D21aily Feng Shui News for Feb. 21 – ‘International Mother Language Day’

Today’s ‘International Mother Language Day,’ doesn’t use any one alphabet. In fact, a kiss on a scraped knee or a hug for setting the table can all be considered the language of the mother. But what if a serious rift develops between mother and child and a cosmic healing is required to open the door to dialogue? Feng Shui says that when there are issues between a mother and child, the mom should find a photo of the two of them in happier days. That picture then gets put into a wooden frame and positioned in the ‘Romance and Relationship’ area along with two pink candles. Every day for nine consecutive days, the mother should light the candles for a few minutes and during that time visualize only harmony and happiness between mother and child. Placing this framed image in the same ‘Relationship’ area of the child’s room will also help. After the nine days, mom can keep the photo in place but enacting the visual is no longer necessary. Soon enough, the Universe will step in to mediate and mother and child will again have the chance to play, laugh and grow together!

Daily Feng Shui News for Feb. 19th – “Amethyst”

February’s birthstone is the amethyst, an amulet that is closely associated with sobriety, courage and prudence. This gemstone purportedly protects from drunkenness and can even help someone recovering from a bad breakup to stop obsessing over their ex. This stone is also recommended for stress removal and is believed to help treat mild mental conditions. Hold this stone in your receptive hand (the hand opposite that you write with) and its peaceful vibrations will soon soothe and calm. It’s a true gem of a stone.

Daily Feng Shui News for Feb. 18th – ‘Pluto Day’

It was on this date in 1930 that ex-planet Pluto was discovered. On this ‘Pluto Day,’ download an image of Pluto’s glyph and reproduce it in cornmeal on the threshold of your entryway door. It is said that doing so will attract the formidable attributes that Pluto is famous for. Considering that Pluto wields considerable power, you can expect to feel pretty potent after enacting this exercise. Let the cornmeal blow away or sweep it away after leaving it in place for twenty-four hours.

Daily Feng Shui News for Feb. 17th – ‘Random Acts of Kindness Day’

On this ‘Random Acts of Kindness Day’ I suggest you do something nice for someone else with no expectation of reward. Roll the neighbor’s garbage pail off the street and into their yard. Or simply smile at a stranger. It’s not all about paying the toll for the car in back of you, although that’s as good an idea as any. You can make the biggest difference on this planet by simply doing the smallest act of kindness. If even a handful of us offer one random act today, we can create a wave of kindness that will wash over the whole planet.

Daily Feng Shui News for Feb. 14th – ‘Valentine’s Day’

On Valentine’s Day you can give yourself roses in order to attract a true and lasting love. Take two pink, long-stemmed roses and remove the thorns. Place them in a white vase and position this on your bedside table. After three days, replace the roses with two new pink roses. After another three days, replace the roses again for a total of six roses in nine days. Feng Shui says that this powerful cure will attract the perfect partner into your life. If you already have one of those, then putting two pink roses in a vase in your ‘Romance/Relationship’ (far back right-hand corner) will enhance your existing relationship. Happy Valentine’s Day.

Daily Feng Shui News for Feb. 13 – ‘Madly In Love With Me Day’

A long time ago I learned an ancient self-love technique from a Balinese shaman that greatly helps to increase a sense of self-worth and esteem. This is an especially applicable tip to share on today’s ‘Madly In Love With Me Day.’ Every morning when you awake, look into your eyes in the mirror and mean it when you say to yourself, ‘I love you.’ Do this every morning for 40 straight days and you won’t believe how great you feel about yourself at the end of this entire exercise.

Mercury in Aquarius (February 12th)

Mercury in Aquarius

Think big while mental Mercury is in brainy Aquarius!

Tarotcom StaffTarotcom Staff on the topics of mercury, astrology, aquarius
It’s time to put on your thinking cap! Mercury, the planet of ideas and communication, is retrograding back into Aquarius on February 12, 2014. Emotions will take a back seat to intellect during this time, and mental pursuits will become more appealing than spiritual ones.

Aquarius is a relatively cool and detached Air sign that puts feelings aside to focus on more cerebral matters — brilliant ideas, inventions, quirky schemes and the like. Don’t be surprised if it feels like you can’t turn off your brain now!

In addition to being an intellectual transit, Mercury in Aquarius is also a bit offbeat. Your thoughts will certainly be brilliant, but they may also be eccentric or downright weird. But don’t forget, there’s a fine line between “weird” and genius, right?!

Think of this as a good thing. This is a great time to look at your life from a different angle and gain new perspective. Also, Aquarius is very future-minded, so you can use this time to think about how to make your future bright.

The one thing to watch out for during Mercury’s transit through this not-so-sensitive sign is hurting or neglecting other people’s feelings. We may all lose touch with our sensitive sides while we’re busy juggling so many brilliant ideas, so do your best to pause and give someone you love an extra hug between all those stimulating conversations.

Mercury will move on into more compassionate Pisces on January 31, before turning retrograde on February 6. On February 12, Mercury spins back into Aquarius until it turns direct on February 28. Finally, Mercury will move forward again into Pisces on March 17.

Enjoy the many “ah-ha” moments you’re sure to have courtesy of Mercury in Aquarius!

Daily Feng Shui News for Feb. 10 – ‘Ellen Whitehurst’s Birthday!’

It’s my birthday and I’m going to celebrate by using this Feng Shui birthday cure. I will get a red helium-filled balloon and with a new black marker bought especially for this occasion, I will write one really treasured wish on the outside of the balloon. Then I will tie it with nine inches of red ribbon and let it loose in my backyard. I will watch the balloon as it heads to the horizon, and just before it disappears I will visualize it turning into a golden orb that will now ‘feed’ the celestial dragon in the sky. That same dragon will fulfill my wish sometime before this same day next year. Happy birthday to me!

Daily Feng Shui News for Feb. 9th – ‘World Marriage Day’

If you’re a single woman and not celebrating today’s ‘World Marriage Day’ energies, then you might want to put an image, painting or a picture of a pair of pink peonies in the ‘Romance/Relationship’ area of your bedroom. This is found at the far back right-hand corner of the room. According to Feng Shui, pink peonies attract perfect partners for single, marriage-aged women. Married women beware, because this philosophy also says that this image could also give a husband a roving eye. Marriage-minded single ladies only, please.

Daily Feng Shui News for Feb. 5 – ‘National Weatherperson’s Day’

Every year right before spring begins, I’m frequently asked how we can stay protected from storms. Since it’s ‘National Weatherperson’s Day’ I’d like to offer a prayer to invoke that same weather-related protection. According to legend, Saint Barbara is the patron saint of artillery and is called upon when stormy weather threatens to cause destruction or ravage the land. Her prayer is this: ‘Blessed Saint Barbara, your name is written in Heaven with paper and holy water, and on the cross of our death. Send away the storm and bring peace to our household.’ Can I get an Amen?

Daily Feng Shui News for Feb. 4th – ‘World Cancer Day’

It is my humble honor on ‘World Cancer Day’ to share Feng Shui Grandmaster Lin Yun’s teachings on how to augment and reinforce all appropriate medical treatment from the perspective of this tradition. If you or someone you know is fighting this insidious disease, it may behoove you to investigate this adjustment. Professor Lin Yun recommended that the patient meditate daily on the Feng Shui ‘Six True Colors,’ transmitting their auspicious color sequence to the cells afflicted by cancer. The exact sequence of the ‘Six True Colors’ is white, red, yellow, green, blue, and black. This is considered to conjure increased spiritual and healing powers.

Daily Feng Shui News for Feb. 3 – ‘The Day the Music Died Day’

‘The Day the Music Died Day’ commemorates the unfortunate and untimely deaths of singers Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and J.P. ‘The Big Bopper’ Richardson, who perished in a plane crash on this date in 1959. These names represent some of the top musicians of the fifties generation. Feng Shui suggests that wearing or carrying a piece of jade while traveling will keep you protected. The color green is of the wood element and purports to keep you safe and secure when used with that same intention. Don’t leave home without it.

Daily Feng Shui News for Jan. 31 – ‘Inspire Your Heart With Art Day’

Today’s ‘Inspire Your Heart With Art Day’ offers the perfect excuse to share information about Feng Shui and art. This modality says that having abstract art in your immediate environment can be distracting at best and depressing at worst. Rather, this tradition says to hang art that symbolizes unlimited possibilities, like fields of flowers, horizons, sunsets, things soaring in the air (birds, balloons, rocket ships), or whatever else that makes you feel like anything is possible.
