Three things of note this week: on Tuesday, we have a powerful Full Moon (which will be liberating for some). On Thursday, Mercury retrograde will be over, which will reduce errors, goof ups, delays and transportation problems. (Glory hallelujah!) The third thing is that the Sun has entered Taurus, which brings us a shift of focus. This is because throughout the year, the Sun moves through all 12 signs, staying in each sign for four weeks, creating “the flavour of the month” for the world. This Taurus Sun will increase everyone’s focus on finances with talk about money and cashflow because more than any other sign, Taurus is about banking and accrued wealth. Quite likely, discussions about the price of food will prevail. (These are strange times when you can’t earn enough bread to buy a loaf.)

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Good news! This week Mercury stops being retrograde in your sign! (This has created goof ups, missed appointments, delayed deliveries, mixed-up communications and transportation problems.) Some of this might culminate with Tuesday’s Full Moon, which will affect your possessions and finances. You might have a dispute with someone about shared property, inheritances, taxes or debt. Something will come to a head at the beginning of this week. Fortunately, things will likely be settled in your favour because lucky Jupiter is in your sign for one more month, and this is a blessing. Keep your eyes open, especially for someone who might not have your best interests at heart.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

The Sun is in your sign for the next four weeks, which is your turn to recharge your batteries! You’ll feel physically energized and have increased confidence and enthusiasm about life. However, on Tuesday this week, the Full Moon will be opposite your sign, which could create difficulties for you at the beginning of the week dealing with spouses, partners and close friends. Don’t make a big deal out of things. Be laissez-faire. Whatever troubles you will diminish by the end of the week, so don’t get your belly in a rash. Gemini (May 21-June 20)

In the last several weeks, you’ve heard from old friends because of Mercury retrograde. You might have also been involved with people from organizations and clubs from your past, which gave you a chance to catch up on old history. At the beginning of the week, the Full Moon energy could create problems with coworkers. The secret is to avoid making a big deal about things because whatever arises is short lived. However, this will give you more opportunities to have time to think about what you want for your new year ahead (birthday to birthday). Ideas?

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

You’re heading into a popular four-week window because the Sun is in your House of Friendships, which will make your interactions with others more important. In fact, you might give more thought and examine the role that your friends play in your life. For example, what kind of friends do you have? Our friends are often a reflection of ourselves. (This can be sobering even scary.) Use this window of time to establish who you are with others. However, at the beginning of the week, you might be at odds with a friend or a member of a group because of the Full Moon. This can also create tension in romance and dealing with your kids. Fortunately, these problems are short lived. Relax.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

The next four weeks will be an exciting window for you because the Sun is at the top of your chart, which happens only once a year. Symbolically, this means you’re in the spotlight of the Sun — and this light is flattering! As a result, people see you in favourable terms. They admire you! (Even if you don’t do anything different.) This is why you might be approached to take on increased responsibilities. Meanwhile, your adoring public will fawn over you. (Leos love to be adored.) However, at the beginning of the week, the Full Moon could put you at odds with authority figures. It might also make it tough to choose between the demands of your career versus the demands of family. (You’re always loyal to loved ones.)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Pay attention to everything you say and do at the beginning of the week because the Full Moon will create an accident-prone influence for you. (This includes verbal gaffes as well as physical mishaps.) You might be embroiled in arguments about religion, philosophy or racial issues. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Expect tension at the beginning of the week dealing with close friends and partners because the Full Moon on Tuesday is taking place in your sign. The thing to know is that as the Full Moon approaches, your problems seem to intensify. Then after the Full Moon peaks, these same problems will diminish or even disappear. Go figure. Therefore, don’t take things too seriously at the beginning of the week. Arguments and difficulties with close friends and partners are temporary and will be resolved by the end of the week. The good news is that Mercury will no longer be retrograde creating so many goof ups in your world. Life will run more smoothly. Thank heavens!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

In the next four weeks, you’ll be gung-ho to be productive in an efficient, effective way. You will want to make all your actions count. (Get the most bang for your buck!) In fact, while your expectations are so high, you will apply these same standards to your health. You want to buff that bod for the summer! This is certainly well-timed so make the best use of your strong motivation right now to improve every aspect of your life. This will also help you deal with some of the confusion or increased activity at home, while Venus will continue to boost romance and bring fun opportunities to socialize. Yay!

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Lucky you! For the next four weeks, you’ll have increased opportunities to enjoy fun outings, vacations, social diversions, plus the arts and the entertainment world. You’ll also have more focus on sports and playful activities with children. This is an excellent time to get away for a tiny vacation or a major escape. At the beginning of the week, the Full Moon could create tension with romantic partners as well as dealing with your kids. It’s important to know that this tension is temporary and will disappear by the end of the week. Enjoy redecorating and fixing up your digs because this will please you. Make time for fun! Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Difficulties with family members might be a problem at the beginning of the week due to the Full Moon on Tuesday. You might feel caught between the demands of home and family versus the demands of your career or your work or your involvement in your community. In fact, you will enjoy hunkering down at home in the next several weeks. You might also be involved with a parent more than usual. Continue to look for ways to improve your own home or find a better home because they exist. Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Pay attention to everything you say and do because the beginning of this week is an accident-prone time for you. No question. This same energy can provoke arguments with daily contacts, siblings and neighbours. Fortunately, the threat of these disturbances subsides by the end of the week. Meanwhile, you will notice the pace of your days will accelerate because the next four weeks will be busy with appointments, schedules and short trips plus increased time with siblings as well as more reading, writing and studying. Merry meet dear Sisters, Brothers, and Honored Guests, welcome to WOTC! A Thought for Today

Once I got this through my head once again I realized losing 12 years worth of bookmarks was a good thing, sort of. This way I have to search the internet for all the different topics I try to post daily and that some of the links I had saved were probably no good anymore anyway. I did spend yesterday in a state of depression and a thoroughly negative mood thinking over and over again how setting up Big Dawgs new laptop had caused me so much extra work for WOTC. I had to consciously keep reminding myself that everything happens for a reason. We may never know the reason why things happens but to me it is some how either connected to a karmic debt I owe or it is just time to get out of a rut and change things up. S0, I was up about 4:30 AM and decided to treat posts as if it was my first day ever posting on my own website first it was on Coven Life and than through the generosity of Lady Abyss here on WOTC. I fooled around for a while playing games on my phone, took the fur babies out, had something to eat, straightened up my very messy desk and office area, finally sitting down to start looking for new websites to post from because I cannot think enough many days thanks to fibromyalgia flares to post all my own content. I will get a many of the tomorrow posts done as I have time to do before leaving to spend time with my two youngest grandsons and pick up some of their mom’s fantastic sour dough bread.

Thank you for putting up with my angry meltdown yesterday! Today’s posts might be a little late even with being up so early as we start a new adventure with new information about all different traditions in Paganism and Witchcraft.

Elemental Magic Spells

From Free Witchcraft Spells

 

Many people who practice witchcraft like to use elemental magic spells, as it is a very natural form of magic. It’s also much easier to learn (and remember) the basic qualities and attributes of 4 elements rather than learn hundreds of other correspondences for herbs, stones or oils. Though it may be simpler than some other spells, elemental magic spells can still be powerful.

Air

First off, we have the element of air. The qualities that air represents include: ideas, inspiration, creativity, intelligence, travel, freedom, new beginnings and mental clarity. If you want a spell for any of these ideas, you should incorporate air into your magick. Items like feathers, bells, incense and quartz all have air attributes. Keep reading for more air spells

Earth

Next is earth. This is an element that stands for grounding, all forms of nature, money and prosperity, growth, rules and responsibility. If you want to represent earth on your altar, you can use a pentacle, stones, or a bowl of earth or rock salt. For earth spells, crystals and herbs are often used since they are natural items directly from the earth.

Fire

Next up for elemental magic spells is fire. Candle spells are the most popular kind of witchcraft spell, and are a good example of using fire. Fire should be used for spells involving passion, energy, strength, creativity and anger. Items for fire include candles (obviously) as well as volcanic glass, and the athame (though some traditions have the athame associated with air). Fire spells usually involve candles, but not always.

Water

And lastly we come to water. Water energies are often used in spells for love, fertility, friendship, healing and sleep. But spells don’t often call for actual water. Crystals like aquamarine and moonstone make great “water” additions, as do herbs like lilac. A chalice is the usual altar tool to represent the element of water. If you do use water in your water spells, try to use naturally collected rainwater.

Beith/Beth

Beith, or Beth, corresponds to the letter B in the alphabet, and is associated with the Birch tree. When this symbol is used, it is representative of new beginnings, change, release, and rebirth. In some traditions, it also has connections with purification.

Birch trees are hardy. They’ll grow just about anywhere, including on bare soil. Because they tend to grow in clusters, what may be just one or two seedlings now can be practically an entire forest in a few decades. In addition to being a sturdy sort of tree, the Birch is useful. I TOTALLY Dislike Computers

I had to reset up Big Dawgs new laptop yesterday and because Microsoft didn’t recognize the gmail account I set up for him I had to use my own account. This caused all my bookmarks; we’re talking years of them to go poof all gone. My browsing history went poof too. So instead of doing tomorrow posts this morning I have to go into posts and bring back some of the websites to bookmark them again especially the daily and birthday along with Moon phases. If I can get through doing this without wanting to throw a computer out the window, I will consider myself calm enough to do some of the tomorrow posts if I have any time left before we go out to serve paperwork. So please bear with me during my minor meltdown from whatever karma the universe is telling me I need to balance. Thank you for your patience!

What Are Glamour Spells?

In magic, a glamour is a veil that hides what’s underneath. A glamour spell brings out one’s natural beauty while hiding those less-than-desirable aspects.

When you’re casting a glamour spell, you can either personally choose the aspects that you want to enhance or you can simply visualize beauty and let the spell choose.

A glamour spell typically doesn’t last that long. I find that most glamour spells I cast will last for a full day or so. I tend to cast glamour spells when I really need them which is mainly for special events.

I personally use glamour spells to appear more like who I truly feel I am inside. I don’t use them to run from myself, but I do have specific aspects of myself that I like more than others, and enhancing those aspects gives me confidence.

Here are 3 very simple glamour spells that are effective for both beginner and advanced students of witchcraft. If you choose to cast a circle during your practice, make sure to go ahead and do that before beginning these spells.

A Glamour Spell For Physical Beauty

For this spell, you will need:

A mirror

A bowl of rose water (made with essence of rose oil or with rose petals)

First, you will need to leave the bowl with rose water under the moon overnight. Try to plan with the moon phase or sign, depending on the outcome you want. For example, the Libra moon would provide very refined beauty, while the Aries moon would enhance bold beauty.

The next day, sit in front of the mirror with your rose water. Place your hands over the rose water with your palms facing the bowl.

Close your eyes and visualize the highest version of yourself. I recommend picturing yourself as you actually appear, then making small adjustments. This spell shouldn’t be too drastic. Start small so that you can actually see the effects.

Once the picture is cemented, describe your ideal image to your bowl of water. Send energy out using your hands. Describe yourself three times in the same way.

Spend as much time as you need sending your energy into the water. When you’re ready, wash your face and hands with the rose water.

For best results, repeat this spell daily until you see strong effects.

A Glamour Spell To Enchant Your Beauty Products

It’s easy to enchant any beauty product that you wish. If you want to hide your dark circles, then enchant your concealer. For larger eyes, enchant your eyeshadow, mascara, or eyeliner.

To enchant a beauty product, simply gather your energy, hold the product in your hands, and take a few minutes to send your intentions into the product.

The more energy you can raise the better, and the more specific your visualization is when you send your energy into the product, the more powerful the spell will be.

I like to enchant my cream, foundation, or shampoo, because they tend to be used most often.

An enchantment will only last for so long (mine usually work for 2-3 weeks), so you’ll need to repeat this spell as necessary.

A Ritual Bath Glamour Spell For Aphrodite

If you work with deities, or even if you’re interested in working with Aphrodite for the purpose of this glamour spell, then this beauty ritual bath is wonderful for enhanced beauty.

Before the bath, set out an offering for Aphrodite. This offering can be dried roses, petals, wine, or anything else that you feel represents the goddess of love.

Set up your bathroom in a way that feels pleasant and romantic to you. I like to use pink or red candles, rose petals, rose oil essence, bath salts, mirrors, makeup, and anything else that represents beauty.

Think of the bath as your giant cauldron and add ingredients to it one by one as it fills.

Once the bath is ready, hop in and focus on your intention. Spend 20 minutes or so picturing exactly how you want to appear to others and how this will make you feel. Send your gathered energy into the bath, then picture the water infusing your skin.

If it feels right to you, chant the words:

Beauty within, beauty without,

I am fabulous, without a doubt.

Once you feel that the energy has been absorbed by your skin, the spell is finished.

While nowadays you might have some chicken soup to fight a cold, a new project unearthing manuscripts up to 1,000 years old reveals the bizarre medical remedies recommended by those in the medieval era.

The violence of medieval society is detailed in the recipes, from gruesome animal-derived treatments to advice on how to set broken bones or determine whether a skull has been fractured.

The UK’s Cambridge University Library has launched the two-year project to digitize, catalog and conserve the more than 180 medieval manuscripts containing approximately 8,000 unedited, handwritten medical recipes.

Most of the manuscripts date to the 14th or 15th centuries, with the oldest being 1,000 years old. Some are simple pocketbooks designed to be carried around and could have been made by medical practitioners themselves, according to a news release from the University of Cambridge Wednesday.

The recipes typically comprise of a short series of simple instructions, similar to a modern-day prescription or cookery book.

In the texts, there are common ingredients that we are familiar with today, including herbs like sage, rosemary, thyme and mint, as well as spices such as cumin, pepper and ginger.
