A Laugh for Today – Contains a Swear Word

I am sorry I have run out of time today to finish the last 2 or 3 monthly posts. The September birthstone, flower, etc. and all the holidays will go up tomorrow when I finish Thursday’s and the tomorrow posts for Friday. I apologize for any inconvenience my not getting the Celtic Tree Month and September Monthly posts on time may have caused anyone. I thank you for your understanding and patience and support while I was recovering from COVID over the last couple of weeks!

Gardening Moon Calendar – September 2023

Please read this first:

1) Moon Phase x Moon Zodiac Sign:

Please keep in mind, that Gardening by Moon Phase and Gardening by Moon Zodiac Sign are two different/independent biodynamic systems and they might give you different or contradictiory gardening recommendations.

  • a) Each Moon Phase (except Full Moon and New Moon) lasts about 1 week
  • b) Each Moon Zodiac Sign lasts about 2.5 days

Try to experiment with these two systems to find which recommendations suits you the most.

2) Tropical (Astrological) x Sidereal (Astronomical) Zodiac:
(1-2 days difference in Leaf, Fruit, Root and Flower days)

There are two different zodiacs for determining the Moon Sign:

  • a) Tropical zodiac (Astrological) is based on the seasons – Vernal Equinox is fixed as 0° Aries (The 1st Fruit day)
  • b) Sidereal zodiac (Astronomical) takes into account Precession of Equinoxes and shifts 0° Aries back by cca 1-2 days. Maria Thun who was an authority on biodynamics was using this Sidereal zodiac

Try to experiment also with these two zodiac systems to find which system suits you better.

Prepare for a Celestial Rollercoaster: 7 Planets in Retrograde this September

Prepare yourselves, for the cosmic chaos is upon us once again. Brace for impact as we delve into a period where seven powerful planets embark on their retrograde journey simultaneously.

Yes, you heard it right – Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto will all take a step back through the celestial sphere, sending ripples of disruption throughout their respective astrological realms.

But what exactly does it mean when a planet goes retrograde? Although the term may sound ominous, it’s important to note that this backward motion is merely an optical illusion.

Nevertheless, ancient astrologers associated the appearance of a reversing planet with significant earthly events, which has been upheld in modern astrology.

Retrogrades often bring forth challenges that compel us to reevaluate our beliefs, habits, and circumstances, even if we may not feel entirely prepared.

It’s important to remember, however, that not all retrogrades are harbingers of doom. Embedded within their cosmic dance lies an opportunity for reflection, reassessment, and reimagination – the ‘re’ in retrograde.

Now is the time to confront any lingering unresolved issues in our lives. Whether it be our physical well-being, communication skills, relationships, career paths, responsibilities, or personal empowerment – the retrograde energy offers a fertile ground for growth and transformation.

Embrace this period as a chance for self-mastery, where you can reclaim your power and steer your life towards a brighter future. Mark September 4th, 2023, in bold on your calendars, dear friends.

During this sprint through the retrograde maze, Mercury, the planet of communication, will form an aspect with Jupiter, the planet of expansion.

It is highly recommended to set aside some moments for introspection, journaling, or meditation. You may be astounded by the profound insights and celestial wisdom that grace your mind during this time.

So, let it be known, that a cataclysmic astrological event awaits us. As the majority of our solar system’s planets retrace their steps, expect the unexpected.

This cosmic symphony of retrograde motion promises to shake the foundations of our lives, urging us to embrace the challenges and seize the opportunities that lie within.

Hold on tight, stargazers, for this celestial spectacle is sure to leave its mark.

Let’s go planet by planet, in the order their respective retrogrades will end…

Venus Retrograde 2023: July 23 to September 4

Mercury Retrograde 2023: August 24 to September 16

Pluto Retrograde 2023: May 11 to October 22

The Full Moon for this month will occur later in the month on Friday, September 29th. The New Moon is earlier in the month on Friday, September 15th.

September’s full moon is known as the Full Harvest Moon, as it is the full moon that is closest to the fall equinox. In the northern hemisphere, the Full Harvest Moon rises very soon after sunset, providing plenty of bright light for farmers harvesting their summer crops. September’s full moon is so well-known for its luminosity and brilliance that certain Native American tribes even named it the Big Moon. The Full Harvest Moon holds major cultural significance in many different communities, who spend this full moon not just celebrating the fall harvest, but also the moon itself.

The most widely known tradition associated with the Full Harvest Moon is the Mid-Autumn Festival, celebrated by Chinese communities all around the world. It is also known as the Mooncake Festival. On the full moon night of the eighth lunar month, people gather with friends and family to admire the brilliant full moon while eating mooncakes and drinking tea. Mooncakes are a rich pastry traditionally filled with sweet bean paste or lotus seed paste, and sometimes even include salted egg yolks. The sweet osmanthus flower also blooms during this time, and is often used in teas and the reunion wine drunk when visiting with family. It is a common tradition to celebrate by carrying brightly colored lanterns, so you can often enjoy the beautiful sight of lanterns hanging in front of buildings or in parks, or sky lanterns floating towards the full moon.

There are many other variations on the Mid-Autumn Festival throughout Asia, including Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries. The Japanese celebrate this full moon with the Tsukimi tradition (which literally means moon-viewing in Japanese), where people prepare offerings to the moon and eat round tsukimi dango, or rice dumplings. In Korea, this full moon is celebrated as Chuseok, which is one of Korea’s most major holidays, similar to Thanksgiving. People travel back to their hometowns for reunions with their family and tend to their ancestors’ graves. Traditional activities include exchanging gifts, playing folk games, drinking rice wine, and eating songpyeon, which is a rice cake shaped like a half-moon.

For most of the cultures that celebrate variants of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the desserts eaten during this festival are made using fruits, nuts, and grains harvested during this season. Similarly, the Full Harvest Moon is called the Nut Moon by the Cherokee tribes, who gather all sorts of nuts to make nut bread, which is eaten during harvest festivals such as the Ripe Corn Festival. During this moon, Native American tribes pay respects to Mother Earth for her generosity in providing food for her children, including corn and other staple foods.

Chinese communities, on the other hand, spend the Mid-Autumn Festival worshipping the Moon Goddess, Chang’e. According to legends about Chang’e, there used to be ten suns in the sky, which caused drought and suffering throughout the land. Houyi, a talented archer, shot down nine of the suns to save the world, and was rewarded with the position of emperor. Unfortuantely, he later became a malevolent tyrant, obsessed with the search for an immortality pill. In order to protect the common folk from being ruled over forever by a cruel emperor, his wife Chang’e stole the elixir of immortality from him during the full moon of the eighth lunar month. Enraged, Houyi chased after Chang’e, who swallowed the elixir to prevent Houyi from taking it. As a result, Chang’e became a deity herself and flew away to the moon, where she lives in a Moon Palace with her companion the Jade Rabbit, who pounds herbs in a pestle to help her create the elixir of immortality. Appropriately, the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program is named after Chang’e.

10th Celtic Tree Month – Vine September 2 – September 29

Source: learnreligions.com

The Vine month is a time of great harvest — from the grapes of the Mediterranean to the fruits of the northern regions, the Vine produces fruits we can use to make that most wondrous concoction called wine. The Celts called this month Muin. The Vine is a symbol of both happiness and wrath — passionate emotions, both of them. Do magical workings this month connected to the Autumn Equinox, or Mabon, and celebrate garden magic, joy and exhilaration, wrath and rage, and the darker aspect of the mother goddess. Use the leaves of the Vines to enhance your own ambition and goals. during this month. The month of Vine is also a good time to get balanced, as there are equal hours of darkness and light.

September, called Muin by the Celts, is the time of the vine. The vine itself is like a green fuse, rising up from the Mother with intensity. Fast growing, prolific, intimately connected to whatever it touches; each type of vine has a certain energetic perspective. Poison ivy, for example, is not the same as a grape vine. Yet they both have in common a certain virility and fertility.

The vine was extremely important in ancient lore because of the grape. Wine has been made for thousands of years and it was considered a highly sacred substance to be used in a ritual context, as it still is today, in the Catholic mass. In ancient times, wine was tied to theater, a transformational rite ruled by the god, Dionysus, who, like Christ, was twice born. Dionysus represents deep, chthonic (subterranean) transformation.

The Maenads, the women who worshipped him, would tear people apart. This dismembering represents spirit coming into the density of matter, the shedding of old patterns that reside in our bones, cells and mind that hold us back from being who are in our divine beauty and power.

September is the time of the autumn equinox, when light and darkness are in perfect balance. The vine represents the bounty of the harvest, which is also moving toward the completion of a yearly cycle. What we harvest was started in the dreamtime, the dark days of winter when the roots were easing through the cold dense earth. We experience first the green shoots of spring efforts, and then the explosive growth of summer.

The contemplation then becomes, what has been the fruit of your life over the past year? What have all your efforts yielded for you to taste and digest? It is a good time to find balance, just as the light is balancing on the equinox. The fruit from the vine may be bitter or sweet, or both. Do you have the courage to consider all of it, all as blessings? As the days grow shorter, we hope you can celebrate what you have gleaned over the past year. Savor the harvest of your life with gratitude and wonder at the mystery and miracle of the very breath that flows through you now.

( SIDE NOTE from Lady Carla Beltane) I was lucky to find I have grape vines growing in my backyard. I had trimmed them way back the last 2 summers but this year when I got to that point of clearing up the flower and herb beds, I saw teeny, tiny grapes on the vines with leaves that I cut off. I was very careful to try not to cut off anymore vines with grapes growing on them. The problem is because of the drought and the smoke haze from Canada I didn’t harvest any this year. I will however be tending them better next year and hopefully have some delicious grapes to eat and can use the vines minus leaves to make a few Dreamcatchers in the winter of 2024.)

Spell For Binding Spell For a Toxic Or Harmful Person

Source: modwitchofthewest.wordpress.com

The Last-Quarter Moon is when the Moon is three-quarters through its orbit around Earth. This is when the Moon is Waning (going from Full back to the New Moon).

Just as the moon is “shedding” its illumination, this is a time think about what you need to shed from yourself. What do you need to release? What is no longer serving you? Is it a negative thought pattern? A relationship? A feeling? This is the perfect time to banish, cast away, bind, scream, and yell in hopes to lighten our load as we approach the New Moon and Her fresh energies.

There may be some months where you have nothing you think you need to get rid of or release from your life…and this is okay! It isn’t completely necessary to remove something during this time. It’s not a requirement that you do. But it is one of the best times to do this if you do have something needing of release. Maybe you’re still working on releasing yourself of something from the month before, this is okay, too! Keep working on that thing, you don’t want to overload yourself with things needing to be banished. Don’t overwhelm yourself. This is a time to release things to better yourself, and taking on more than you can handle will, more than likely, bring you down rather than lift you up.

A Binding Spell for a Toxic Or Harmful Person

-This is a spell that can be used for when someone isn’t respecting boundaries or not listening to you when you feel they are abusing your energy or help. THIS DOES NOT CURSE OR HEX THEM; rather it works on a subtle level to bind their negative energy up so they can’t influence you or be a burden on you.

What you’ll need:

A picture of the person or one of their belongings (lock of hair, sample of handwriting, piece of clothing, etc.);

A black candle

A lighter or matches

Red thread

A pen and paper

Water

Sage

Onyx or Tourmaline.

Ritual

  1. Ground yourself & Cast a Circle – breath deeply into the base of your spine as you connect to the Earth. Imagine energy rising up your spine into your heart. Imagine the Universe beaming a light into the crown of your head, moving through your heart, and mingling with your personal energy. Keep breathing deeply and acknowledge this power. Use a wand, athame, or your finger and walk clockwise as you cast your circle.
  2. Call in the Elements – Do this however you normally do it, walking clockwise from North around to West.
  3. Focus on Your Intention and Bind That Shit Up – Keep breathing. Find your connection to the Earth. Have a clear intention about who or what you are trying to bind. Take the photo and write: “I bind [their name]” and then what it is you are binding them from. If you are using their belongings, write this on a piece of paper. Then, read that petition out loud. It can be something like this, or unique to yourself: “I [your own name] bind [their name]. I bind [their name] in the name of the Universe. I bind [their name] from harming me in the name of the Elements. I bind [their name] by my name. So it is (Or any other closing you normally do).” Once you are finished with the petition, fold up the piece of paper while imaging the person being caught in the folds like a golden lasso; strong enough that they can never escape (unless you choose to reverse this). Keep focusing as you wrap up the piece of paper with the red string. Repeat the petition: “I bind [their name]” thirteen times while wrapping the string.
  4. Light the Candle – Place the Onyx or Tourmaline around the black candle. Now place the petition in front of this, making sure any items belonging to the person are next to it. Light the candle and repeat what you said before, about binding them by your name and the name of the Universe and Elements. Once this is said, take a few breaths to connect with your intention. Let the candle burn all the way down, placing it into a sink or fire-safe bowl if you have to (birthday candles are a great way to do spells that require candles to burn down, as it takes minutes as opposed to hours for a larger candle).
  5. Dismiss the Elements – However you choose to do it, but walking counterclockwise now, from West to North.
  6. Close the Circle & Ground Yourself – Close the circle with whichever tool you used to cast it. Walk in a counterclockwise direction, feeling the energy moving back into your hand, up your arm, through your body, and back into the Earth. Once you get back to the front of the circle, press you forehead into the ground and imagine any excess energy returning to the Earth.
  7. Disposal – One the New Moon, bury the wax and the petition at a crossroads, or burn it and flush it down the toilet (if you do this, make sure the materials are not harmful to the environment), or dispose of it at an intersection.

*This spell was taken from Inner Witch by Gabriela Herstik (told y’all, it’s my favorite book). And, again, I am under the assumption that, if you are doing spells, you already have a way of calling on the Elements, dismissing them, and casting/closing a circle.

I hope this helps Witches and non-Witches to think about ways to get rid of things or people that are toxic in their lives. This is, obviously, a practice that is not specific to Witchcraft, as all people need to rid their lives of toxicity. Maybe you don’t use spells to do it, but it is important to do it regardless. This is the perfect time to do it!

Moon Alert

There are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions today. The Moon is in Gemini.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Communications with others will blow hot and cold today. When talking to your kids, or a romantic partner, or enjoying a fun social situation — your words will be like gold! However, work-related discussions might be a tad sticky. Patience.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

This is a lovely day for family conversations, especially about plans to entertain or redecorating ideas. Likewise, real-estate discussions will go well. Ironically, you might find yourself at odds with your kids or a romantic partner, so choose your words carefully.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Today the Moon is in your sign dancing beautifully with Venus; however, it is at odds with your ruler Mercury. (Whaaat? ) This is why family discussions might be challenged. And yet, your ability to schmooze with everyday contacts is superb. Go figure. It is what it is.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

You’re eager to communicate to others today, especially people from your past or contacts who have suddenly reappeared once again in your life. In fact, you will be very clear about what you want to say, and you will say it. This is a good day to resolve past issues.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Relations with friends and members of groups are very warm and friendly today. You won’t hesitate to speak up about financial matters, especially from the past. You want these matters clarified and clearly understood. You’ll be bold if you have to be.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Today the Sun is in your sign lined up with your ruler Mercury, which will create more conversations with others. You’re eager to get your POV across to someone and will likely be more of a talker than a listener. Discussions about business, commerce and the exchange of ideas will appeal.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

This is a fantastic day to do research because you’re happy to work behind the scenes; plus, you’re particularly interested in digging into the past whether it’s history or looking for answers to old problems or solutions to difficulties. You might explore travel plans.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Discussions with friends and members of groups will be lively today! This could be because you’re in touch with an old friend or someone you knew before in a group or an organization. Meanwhile, you look very good to authority figures today. (In fact, a flirtation might begin.)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

This is a good day to rehash old ideas with bosses, parents or people in authority. You might even resurrect something that didn’t fly before? Meanwhile, discussions with a partner or close friend about travel for pleasure will appeal. You’re going places!

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You will make great strides if you’re studying something, especially history or researching the past, because you have a strong focus today. You might also be keen to discuss your findings with someone. Travel plans will interest you as well. Meanwhile, romantic affection will flourish!

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

You couldn’t pick a better day to dig into old matters affecting inheritances, taxes, debt and shared property. You’ll be like a dog with a bone because you intend to find what you’re looking for. Discussions with partners and close friends will be warm and friendly today. Possibly, a new romance will begin?

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

You might attract someone to you today who is a real talker – they’ve got something to say. If so, be generous and listen to them because obviously they want to get something off your chest; or perhaps, they’re simply excited about a particular topic? Meanwhile, this is a pleasant day to hide at home, if you can swing this.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Actor Idris Elba (1972) shares your birthday today. You are hard-working and very creative. You often encounter unexpected events. This year simplicity is the key to your life. It’s time to create solid foundations. Take charge of your health. Physical exercise is important. Stay grounded and levelheaded. Hard work is required to maintain your lifestyle.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

It seems like the love front is not going to be the most positive aspect of your day and this might not have anything to do with your actions.

So don’t try to model your behavior in the direction you feel those around you would want it to be. You could however pay more attention to the problems of those around if you want to feel involved.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

It seems that just at the middle of the week you can breathe easy because there are little things that can touch you in the current disposition.

You should however take care of your stress levels and to the way you feel that what is happening around you can impact you. You might find it hard to relax but this is just because of your cautiousness.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

You might find it hard to make yourself understood by those around you today and it won’t have anything to do with the way you express your ideas.

Maybe you are a bit off track with some of your plans and those close to you don’t know how to tell you that. Make sure you are aware of all the prompts coming from people you trust.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Today you are going to throw all your focus on your family and you are probably going to do whatever it takes to have them close.

Some natives might have to do a bit of travel to come in contact with their families while other natives will have to make some changes at the office to clear off their afternoon. In any case, your endeavors in this direction will most likely be successful.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

You are going to be quite studious this day as all research and educational endeavors are being favored for you.

Make sure you deal with any component in your life that has to do with this part and keep your mind occupied at the highest level. You might be a bit prone to day dreaming so do avoid falling in this direction if you have a lot of work to do.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Today you will be somewhat forced to learn that you should be content with what you are having and to not try in any exaggerated way to gain more than this.

If you don’t listen to such advice you might affect your love life because of your efforts to increase your revenue. Your partner might not be really happy with you putting all your ambition in this direction.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

It seems that today you are going to have to continue something you’ve started in the past, whether you are right in the middle of it or you’ve abandoned it for some time already.

You are going to be somewhat forced to work with another person, although you don’t really fancy him or her. You need to learn to trust people.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You are quite careless and disorganized and this will be noticed quite easily by most people with whom you are going to interact today.

You don’t really want such things to happen, especially if you’ve worked towards creating yourself a positive image at work so be careful not to ruin anything. If you have other things troubling you, keep them to yourself.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

It seems that this is going to be quite an auspicious day for you as you are going to benefit from the help of those around you, especially in the area of your studies.

So those whom are taking some classes or need support with a project are going to be most favored. You can also launch yourself in some creative projects as well.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

It seems that the current environment asks for some sort of change in order for your focus to increase.

Be it that you give up a bad habit and start doing something positive instead or that you change something in your work routine, be sure that the effects are going to be noticed. You can also involve your friends in finding creative ideas.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

This is going to be an auspicious day for you in terms of money so don’t avoid any movements in this area.

It is a good moment for all kinds of initiatives but avoid investing in any project that you don’t know much about, whoever might be leading it. On this note, you are also strongly advised to avoid collaborating with your closest friends at the moment.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Today you might be somewhat forced to give up your usual schedule in order to help someone. This might mean you changing priorities at work or even abandoning a project in order to offer your support to someone else.

There is also a great need for you to keep your temper and to seek for the most objective solutions to the presented aspects.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY from WOTC!!

May the next year of your life bring you more love, laughter, joy, happiness, enough income to cover what you have to along with a little left for fun than the past year! Plus a lot of positive energy in everything you do!

Being a Virgo born on September 6th, you are analytical and sociable. You live through all your senses and make use of every interaction you have.

You also enjoy spending time with new people and are not afraid to make new acquaintances. In terms of health, you will come to a time when you will be very concerned about it. Prepare to read an outstanding horoscope profile below.

The zodiac sign for September 6 is Virgo.

Astrological symbol: Maiden. The sign of the Maiden influences people born between August 23 and September 22, when in tropical astrology the Sun is considered to be in Virgo. It represents the virgin lady who is fertile and wise.

The Virgo Constellation is one of the twelve constellations of the zodiac and lies between Leo to the West and Libra to the East. The brightest star is called Spica. This constellation is the second largest, spread on an area of only 1294 square degrees and covering visible latitudes between +80° and -80°.

In Italy it is named Vergine while the French call it Vierge. However, the Latin origin of the Virgin, the September 6 zodiac sign is Virgo.

Opposite sign: Pisces. This is the sign directly across the zodiac circle from the Virgo zodiac sign. It suggests sincerity and idealism and these two are considered to make great partnerships.

Modality: Mobile. This suggests courtesy and a chatty figure and also how humorous natives born on September 6 are in reality.

Ruling house: The sixth house. This house represents the space of service and health. It relates to efficiency, perseverance and care for the physical body. This explains the analytical and hard working Virgo who is sometimes prone to hypochondriac episodes.

Gort

Pronunciation – Gort

Tree Association – Ivy

Meaning – Spirals, tenacious, wildness, development, abundance, gratitude, rest, and reawakening. The beautiful spiraling of ivy is symbolic of our soul’s search for meaning, our DNA, and the galaxies in the universe above. The Celts viewed spirals as representative of life and spirit, showing how we can also grow and expand. Ivy also represents a form of tenacity and an ability to flourish in conditions where many plants cannot. Use your unique skills to overcome seemingly impossible obstacles as you pursue goals and dreams. Even if growth or progress seems slow, remain persistent. However, remember how important it is to rest, so you have the spunky energy to stay relentless.

If reversed – Arduous, imposing, aggressive, and challenging. Forces outside of you have been infiltrating and inhibiting your growth. Do not linger, or it may consume you. Sever your connections and focus your time and energy where it may be more productive.

Inscription and Magical Uses – Helpful to use when needing strength, encouraging support, or eliminating toxic individuals from your life. Place in your home for harmony and creativity or in your sacred space for abundance.

Folklore – When growing on or near a home, Ivy is believed to protect loved ones inside. Ivy is no longer used in modern-day medicine but was previously believed to cure whooping cough, ulcers, and eliminate hangovers. Often represented with Dionysus and considered sacred to Osiris.

Nine woods in the Cauldron Go – Celtic Traditions

These trees were and are considered sacred by the Druids and those following a Celtic tradition. Used in the bonfires for Bealtaine and Samhain. Unfortunately where I live in the USA I have not been able to collect wood from all these scared trees as of yet, I am always on the look out for them.

Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow.

Birch in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows.

Oak in the forest towers with might, in the fire it brings the God’s insight.

Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower.

Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland.

Hawthorn is burned to purify and to draw faerie to your eye.

Hazel the tree of wisdom and learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning.

White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility.

Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine.

Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen.
