The Karmic Tools Weekly Forecast covers the current planetary transits which affect people in different ways and to various degrees of intensity. Take notice when it is a Personal planet (Sun / Moon / Mercury / Venus / Mars) interacting with a Social (Jupiter/Saturn) or Collective planet (Uranus / Neptune/Pluto). And pay extremely close attention when it is a Social planet interacting with a Collective planet because that means something *big* is brewing that will move large groups of people along their evolutionary paths. Tuning in to the energy and rhythm of the planets can serve as a useful *guide* as you move along your Individual Path. It also helps to understand your place within the context of the larger Social & Collective Story. Below, you will find out how these energies tend to manifest, as well as guidance and direction.

*NOTE*  There are some days when there are NO CONTACTS (besides the Moon), please note that there are no missing entries, we just list the actual Activations of each week + the day they happen.

Weekly Forecast:  October 28 – November 3, 2018

10/29 ~ Mercury (ideas, thoughts & concepts) ~conjunct~ Jupiter (expansion & learning):

It is time to expand your thinking & develop more conscious awareness! This is a powerful energy assisting you on many levels. You will make connections easily & quickly that help you integrate newly acquired information or knowledge, making you appear psychic (or at least lucky) to others. At this time, you can connect with your Highest ideal and most broad outlook for your life, and you may feel that you are finally ready to live your Truth. You are so connected to your own ideal that you naturally give others permission to live their Truth as well, creating an atmosphere of tolerance that feeds all involved. The challenge with this energy is going too ‘broad’ and missing details that are vital to your success. You will also miss out on crucial information if you are too overconfident and/or self-righteous in any way. Remain humble, knowing that your way works for you, but it may not work for others (and vice versa). And it is ALL okay! If you remain centered in the Light and your own Heart, this energy gives you a little boost to whatever you are creating at this time.

10/31 ~ Venus (values) ~oppose~ Uranus (freedom):

Any time Uranus is involved, it becomes the “wild card” and hard to predict how things will unfold, but right now there is a push-pull between your apparent values and your unique individual self. Venus also represents relationships, so you may begin an unusual relationship or you may have something unusual happen in an established relationship.  It is not necessarily a “good/bad” thing, as much as an unpredictable shift or sudden awareness, which requires some compromise & integration. This energy works beautifully if your personal Truth and values are in alignment. It will be very disruptive if they are not. Be open and flexible, while looking for the win/win situation for all involved.

Spirit Message of the Day – Seek And Act With A Higher Nature

DIVINATION MEANING

“When this card appears, it is a sign to be open and to ‘rise above’ and seek a higher nature. Doing so may require becoming a vessel to draw and contain what is needed to accomplish what you seek. It can also indicate the awakening or strengthening of oracle or psychic abilities. It is time for a higher vision with an expanded perspective.”

TEACHING
“In modern times, drawing down the moon refers to invoking the Goddess within the mind and body of the High Priestess. this is performed in a ritual circle on the night of the full moon. The High Priestess then serves as the vessel for the Goddess through which she may speak and interact with her followers. In the earliest mentions of the drawing the moon down from the sky we find the concept of using the moon’s light. Dew was collected from moss or lichen at dawn  on the morning following the night of the full moon. Ancient Roman writers such as Lucan refer to this magical substance as the foam of the moon.”

“The card depicts a High Priest kneeling in front of a High Priestess. He invokes the Moon Goddess into her body. In the background the Goddess is seen manifesting during the invocation. The High Priest wears a crown with antler tips, which denote his connection with the woodland God of the forest. The High Priestess wears a circlet bearing the symbols of the full moon, waxing moon, and waning moon. The circlet is a sign of her rapport and connection to the feminine divine.”

“The triangle figure of the priest’s hands represents the Triangle of Manifestation, which marks time, space, and energy. These are the three requirements for manifestation to take place. Traditionally, to assist the High Priestess with invoking the Goddess, the High Priest uses the ritual want to trace a triangle on her body” starting from the chest downwards. “This creates an inverted triangle into which the Goddess pours like water into a cup, taking on the shape of the container.”

THE SHADOW’S EDGE
“The Drawing Down the Moon card deals with the concept of the receptive vessel and the vehicle for channeling. This concept relates to the necessity of a material form through which a spirit being can operate within the material dimension. This is similar to possession, with the exception that possession can be involuntary or undesired, whereas the act of drawing down the moon is a willful and purposeful act of opening up to receive the emanation of divine consciousness.”

Inspiration for the Week – Remembering Who You Truly Are

Shanta Gabriel
a message from Archangel Gabriel channeled by Shanta Gabriel
Sunday, 28 October, 2018  (posted 29 October, 2018)

This powerful insight from Archangel Gabriel reminds us to honor our true self in everyday circumstances. As we do this, we not only shine our Light to the world, we raise our frequencies so we can thrive in our lives.

The Gabriel Message Card for this Week

Accept that you are a Radiant Spirit of Light who is growing stronger every day in patterns of wholeness and truth.

It seems to me that most of us are very critical of ourselves. Have you noticed this? Honestly, if riding myself unmercifully could have brought me into a perfected state, I would have been there long ago.

There are some real difficulties with this type of behavior, some more obvious than others. The most important aspect for me is that it lowers my vibrational frequency to think in negative ways. My intention at this time is to create as high a frequency as possible, because it is from this level that opportunities become obvious and miracles occur. We just cannot afford to allow ourselves to sink into the old forms of stinkin’ thinkin.‘ We don’t have time for that. Especially when we are in this powerful new life, where unlimited possibility exists in the quantum fields around us. It is our thoughts and the feelings they create that attract all the Beauty and Well-being that we need to be happy.

We also don’t deserve to be treated with less than love and compassion. We need to go out of our way to see our inherent value and recognize the many gifts we have that make our contribution important to the world. No one has the specific talents and gifts that we have been given, and this makes us especially unique and valuable. I spent most of my life trying to be a chameleon who fit into whatever color someone else wanted me to be. Have you tried that? It does not work. Did you hear about the chameleon who continuously changed colors to be what others wanted him to be? He thought it was working until the day he crawled onto plaid. The moral of the story is, trying to please everyone can make you feel crazy!

Each of us has the radiant spark of God’s Light within us and is following the soul’s impulse to grow and become our most True, Divine and Authentic self. This is who we came on Earth to be, and this is who we truly are. We are here to blend our human qualities with our most Divine gifts so that we can be a bridge between Heaven and Earth. The whole being that we are becoming has been called Homo Luminus — a human being of Light.

We each have moments when we can see our true essence and sit in the wonder of that. Most of the time we end up caught in our daily life and we let the truth of those moments slip away. This lowers our frequency, and we start to look at ourselves in less than compassionate ways again. We need to acknowledge and honor those moments of true clarity and remember that we are a growing, evolving being of Light coming back to our center of balance. We want to raise our vibrational frequency so we can be more resourceful and happy.

Remember how important it is to love and accept all aspects of yourself so you can feel encouraged to grow and thrive in the fullness of your being. Treat yourself with the compassion you would give to a tiny kitten and know how blessed you are to be on Earth right now. You are unique, you are valuable and you are truly loved.

Divine Presence,

May I truly realize how much I have grown and changed in beautiful heart-centered ways. May I honor the new patterns of Well-being I have established within me so my life can be a reflection of this spiritual quality active in the world.

Help me to open my mind and heart to see the radiant spirit within myself and all beings on the planet. Fill me with the Courage I need to thrive in these shifting dimensional frequencies so I can anchor more Love and Light within me, as well as the world.

Thank you for creating an opening to new levels of Freedom, Empowerment and Joy in my life, as well as in the lives of all of humanity. And so it is.

Shanta Gabriel

The Gabriel Messages Book #37

Accept that you are a Radiant Spirit of Light who is growing stronger every day in patterns of wholeness and truth.

Dear One,

You are radiant spirit. That is your essence, your connection to the God Source. This is the part of you that never dies, and lives in oneness with all that is, was and ever shall be. When you recognize the truth of your pure essence, and remember it, your daily life can take on a lighter quality. You will be able to look at each situation from a more expanded perspective.

Who you are is a wondrous being growing toward wholeness, peace within and joy-filled awareness. Through this growth, you are finding there is an ultimate truth that runs like a strong current throughout your life. This truth leads you homeward to that place within you where God dwells eternally.

As you hold to this radiant truth, old patterns of thought begin to drop away. You respond more honestly to life in the moment, rather than reacting from old patterns of thought that no longer serve you. As fear and self-doubt cease to run your thinking processes, a radiant presence emerges  — your true self, the one who is in harmony with all life.

You are courageously moving toward the light that you know to be ultimate truth. You feel yourself growing stronger in the new patterns of thought you now embrace, thoughts that encourage love and peace within you.

It is a time of profound change on the planet. You are recognizing the need to find the still, peaceful center within you to come back to when the world becomes tumultuous. Every day you receive glimpses of this place, so it becomes easier to access. You know that with practice and a clear intention to find peace within, this will occur.

Courageously you look beyond surface appearances of craziness in your world, and ask for the peace of God to be your only reality. As you do this, a new world opens  — a world where miracles become normal and the wings of Angels are ever present to enfold you in Divine Love.
Hold to this place of peace within you. Allow yourself to receive guidance and wisdom from the powerful light-filled Presence that is God working in your life, and know the truth of your message from Archangel Gabriel today:

Accept that you are a Radiant Spirit of Light who is growing stronger every day in patterns of wholeness and truth.

Calendar of the Moon

Dark Moon Night

Color: Black
Element: Air

Offerings: Bones. Stones. Menstrual blood. Give something up.
Daily Meal: Soup of some sort, cooked in a cauldron, eaten in silence.

Dark Moon Invocation

At this time, in the dark of the moon,
When the Silver Lady ages
To an old woman in the dark,
Haunting crossroads, working magic,
Stirring her cauldron
Of poison that heals,
Grandmother Moon of sorcery
And wisdom, who sees all
And reveals little to our searching eyes.
Moon of Death, Moon of mystery,
Moon of silence who hides her face,
Let us learn silence from your averted gaze
Let us learn patience from your aging face
Let us feel for the dark places within us
And find our way down your path in the darkness
Which is utter and complete
But not impenetrable.
As darkness wraps us,
So silence heals us.
As darkness finds us,
So silence guides us.
As darkness speaks,
So silence falls.

(The candle is blown out, and all leave in silence. From the beginning of this rite at Hesperis until the dawn, silence will rule in the house. Talking must be done only in whispers, and between no more than two people, and only for that which is necessary. Long meditation is encouraged, and all work must be done quietly if possible. The evening meal should be eaten by candlelight, and only candles may light the house, except for the sake of certain important work.)

Isis Invocation

Mistress of the Gods
Thou bearer of wings
Thou lady of the red apparel
Queen of the crowns of the South and North,
Thou mighty one of enchantments,
Mistress and lady of the tomb,
Mother in the horizon of heaven.
For when Isis the Queen found that her husband
Had fallen from grace through foul play,
She searched high and low in every country,
Until she came to a palace in a far place
Where a great sweet-scented pillar
Had been cut from a tamarisk tree
The like of which had never been seen before.
The mighty Isis clad herself in the robes
Of a common woman,
And presented herself to the Queen
To be her babe’s nurse. And so it was,
Yet the Queen one day found this nurse
Setting her child in the fire,
So as to make him immortal.
And Isis revealed herself,
And the pillar was cut down and opened,
And she did restore Osiris her husband
With many wonderful magics,
And so she triumphed over their enemies
And brought her beloved home.
Cry joyfully for them, Rulers of the Gods of Egypt!

(All cheer, and grain is thrown into the air in celebration.)

About the Waning Gibbous Moon

By Deborah Byrd

A waxing gibbous moon appears more than half lighted, but less than full. It rises before sundown and sets somewhere between midnight and dawn. The coming full moon – Hunter’s Moon for the Northern Hemisphere – is October 24.

You’ll see a waxing gibbous moon between a first quarter moon and full moon. The word gibbous comes from a root word that means hump-backed.

People often see a waxing gibbous moon in the afternoon, shortly after moonrise, while it’s ascending in the east as the sun is descending in the west. It’s easy to see a waxing gibbous moon in the daytime because, at this phase of the moon, a respectably large fraction of the moon’s dayside faces our way.

As the moon orbits Earth, it changes phase in an orderly way. Follow these links to understand the various phases of the moon.

Bottom line: A waxing gibbous moon comes between first quarter moon and full moon. It appears more than half illuminated, but less than full. The next full moon – Hunter’s Moon for the northern hemisphere – will be October 24, 2018.

Daily Overview of Your Stars and Planets for Monday, October 29

This morning, Mars forms a semi-square with Saturn, and the Moon in Cancer plays into this energy as it challenges both bodies. We may want to resolve a frustrating problem now but could be too impatient to make satisfying progress. We should watch for applying overly rigid standards now. We can feel thwarted, blocked, or slowed down, and enthusiasm is likely to wane as a result. Delays are possible but might lead to necessary edits and adjustments.

However, a Mercury-Jupiter conjunction inspires optimism. Mercury and Jupiter reach their final alignment in Scorpio, and we’re gaining insight into a problem, talking through issues, and seeing solutions or finding reasons to feel hopeful. Our opinions are strong.

Mercury moves into a trine to Chiron tonight (Jupiter and Chiron will form their trine on November 1st), indicating good energy for discussing, or giving further thought to, sensitive topics. We can effectively use words to heal and comfort, and we approach problems holistically. This aspect strengthens our communication skills, not so much on a technical level but more in terms of using both our heads and our hearts to understand one another. The Moon spends the day in protective Cancer.

The Sun is in Scorpio; Mercury is in Scorpio until the 31st, when it enters Sagittarius; Venus is in Scorpio until the 31st, when it returns to Libra; Mars is in Aquarius.

This Week in Astrology

The Sun is in Scorpio from October 23-November 22. The guiding principle of Scorpio is “I desire.” Scorpio is the sign of depth, intimacy, and extremes of feeling. Superficiality simply will not do with the Sun in Scorpio. We have the desire to get to the bottom of matters. Mediocrity does not satisfy either. All that is hidden, taboo, secret, or suppressed interests us. In Libra, we strive towards equality and fairness. Scorpio, however, instinctively believes that life simply isn’t fair. Scorpio’s energy is provocative, usually in a quiet way, as well as passionate, strong-willed, and intense. It can be an immensely healing and transformative energy. Jealousy, vindictiveness, beating a dead horse, and manipulative are some of the more negative expressions of Scorpio.

Mercury is in Scorpio from October 9-31. When Mercury is in Scorpio, our thoughts and communications are more probing and intense. While Mercury in Libra urged us to find balance and to arrive at fair solutions, Mercury in Scorpio instinctively knows that life simply isn’t fair. Mercury in Scorpio seeks truths in all that is hidden and undercover. We tend to probe, observe, and focus our thoughts under this influence. Looking for motivations–the more deeply buried the better–satisfies an intellectual need now. Our thoughts are profound. We throw away superficial manners of communicating in favor of deep conversations. Scorpio is extremely sharp, profound, and analytical. Thinking is inclined to be one-track minded, focused, and even obsessive.

Mercury is in Sagittarius from October 31-December 1, and then December 12, 2018-January 4, 2019. When Mercury is in Sagittarius, our thinking shifts from a need to plumb the depths of any given situation to the desire to learn about a wide range of topics. Ideals are sought, our thinking is more optimistic, and our faith increases. We are more equipped to believe and to persuade. What is fair and unfair concerns us most now. However, we are not always very precise under this influence.

Venus is in Scorpio from September 9-October 31. Deeply passionate relations are the focus with Venus in Scorpio. Superficial flirtations and contacts do not satisfy now, as we yearn for “body and soul” contact with someone special–contact that breaks the taboos, that is extreme and intense, and that is unforgettable. This is a highly emotional position for Venus. It is a passionate, sensual, and intense energy. Our relationships are immensely important to us, and we may even feel that they consume us. In fact, we tend to want to be consumed by them! Our drive is toward intense closeness, but blind faith in our partners is extremely hard for us now. Fears of being too vulnerable or of giving up our own power to others are strong. Scorpio is an “all or nothing” energy, and relationships tend to be somewhat of a rollercoaster ride as a result. Disdain for mediocrity and superficiality can compel us to create crises in order to feel alive and vital.

Venus is in Libra from October 31-December 2. We are more inclined to employ charm rather than aggressive behavior in order to get what we want during this cycle. Although Venus in Libra virtually lives for relationships, there is an air of cool detachment to this energy. We are very obliging with others–quite willing to negotiate and compromise. We can be especially idealistic about love. We prefer that things be done the “right” way, and are turned off by aggressive or uncouth behavior. The shadow side of this position is dependence, inconsistency, and superficiality. In an attempt to avoid unpleasant situations, we could easily gloss over deeper issues at play in our relationships. It’s probably best to avoid the trap of acquiescing to our partners but privately resenting the fact or thinking ourselves martyrs for doing so! This is also a time when we are more artistically inclined. We tend to seek balance in our personal environment.

Mars is in Aquarius from May 16-August 12 and September 10-November 15. Dynamic yet erratic energy levels, achieving our goals through hit or miss tactics, and impersonal expression of anger are characteristics of Mars in Aquarius. We are team players–cooperative and less concerned about personal power. We are attracted to unconventional methods and tend to approach problems from an intellectual, detached perspective.

Saturn transits Capricorn from December 19/20, 2017, to March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here.

Jupiter entered Scorpio on October 10th, 2017, and will remain in the sign until November 8th, 2018. Read about Jupiter in Scorpio transit here.

Uranus entered Taurus on May 15, 2018, and will transit Taurus until November 6, 2018, and then from March 6, 2019, to 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.

Uranus entered Aries on March 11th, 2011, and will transit Aries until May 15, 2018, and then from November 6, 2018, to March 6, 2019. The urge to start fresh, to break free from restrictive attitudes or circumstances, to totally redesign an area of our lives (or even our personalities), and to gain freedom through independence is strong with Uranus in Aries.

The sky this week for October 29 to November 4

Planets, planets everywhere!
By Richard Talcott

Monday, October 29

Mars continues to put on a great show these October evenings. The Red Planet appears more than 30° above the southern horizon once darkness falls. The world shines at magnitude –0.7, significantly brighter than any star visible on October evenings, against the faint backdrop of Capricornus. A telescope reveals a disk that spans 12″ and shows several subtle surface features.

Tuesday, October 30

Uranus reached opposition and peak visibility one week ago, and it remains a tempting target all this week. The outer planet appears in the eastern sky after darkness falls and climbs highest in the south around midnight local daylight time. The magnitude 5.7 world lies in the southwestern corner of Aries, just over the border from Pisces, some 2.5° northeast of 4th-magnitude Omicron () Piscium. Although Uranus shines brightly enough to glimpse with the naked eye under a dark sky, use binoculars to locate it initially. A telescope reveals the planet’s blue-green disk, which spans 3.7″.

Wednesday, October 31

Last Quarter Moon occurs at 12:40 p.m. EDT. By the time it rises in North America shortly after midnight local daylight time, its phase will have waned to approximately 43 percent lit. Earth’s satellite lies near the border between Cancer the Crab and Leo the Lion.

The Moon reaches perigee, the closest point in its orbit around Earth, at 4:23 p.m. EDT. It then lies 230,034 miles (370,204 kilometers) away from us.

Thursday, November 1

The night sky’s most conspicuous harbinger of winter now rises in the east around 11 p.m. local daylight time. The constellation Orion the Hunter appears on its side as it rises, with ruddy Betelgeuse to the left of the three-star belt and blue-white Rigel to the belt’s right. As Orion climbs higher before dawn, the figure rotates so that Betelgeuse lies at the upper left and Rigel at the lower right of the constellation pattern.

Friday, November 2

Saturn remains a tempting target in the early evening sky. The ringed planet stands about 20° above the southwestern horizon an hour after sunset and remains on view until 9 p.m. local daylight time. Shining at magnitude 0.6, it appears more than a full magnitude brighter than any of the background stars in its host constellation, Sagittarius. Of course, the best views of Saturn come through a telescope, which reveals a 16″-diameter globe surrounded by a spectacular ring system that spans 36″ and tilts 26° to our line of sight.

Saturday, November 3

Although the calendar says November, the Summer Triangle of bright stars remains prominent in the early evening. Look overhead after darkness falls and you’ll spot Deneb, a conspicuous point of light despite being the faintest of the three luminaries. Brightest Vega lies west of Deneb and intermediate Altair appears to their south.

Sunday, November 4

Although Venus passed between the Sun and Earth just nine days ago, its rapid orbital motion brings it back into view quickly. This morning, the planet rises an hour before the Sun and climbs 5° high in the east-southeast 30 minutes before sunrise. Shining at magnitude –4.3, the brilliant world appears conspicuous against the twilight glow. When viewed through a telescope, Venus displays a 59″-diameter disk that is just 3 percent illuminated.

For those areas of the United States and Canada that observe daylight saving time, set your clocks back 1 hour this morning. The official switch occurs at 2 a.m. local daylight time, which becomes 1 a.m. local standard time. The switch means sunrise and sunset both arrive an hour earlier today than they did yesterday. So, at least by clock time, the latest sunrise of the year occurred yesterday morning.

In the Sky This Month

A giant mythological soap opera stretches up the eastern half of the sky on October nights, encompassing five major constellations: Cassiopeia, Andromeda, Cepheus, Cetus, and Perseus. In the tale, Cassiopeia, queen of Ethiopia, claimed that she was more beautiful than the sea nymphs. The nymphs complained to the god Poseidon, who sent the sea monster Cetus to ravage the country. To save his people, King Cepheus chained his daughter Andromeda at the seashore as a sacrifice. At the last second, though, she was rescued by Perseus, who flashed the snake-topped head of Medusa at Cetus, turning the monster to stone.
October 29: Dazzling Vega

One of the prime stars of summer continues to dazzle in the autumn sky. Vega is quite high in the west at nightfall. It’s the brightest member of the Summer Triangle.
October 30: Last-Quarter Moon

For the second time this month, the Moon is at last quarter. It is three-fourths of the way through its cycle of phases, headed toward “new” on November 7. There’s no special name for two quarter moons in the same month.
October 31: Halloween

Today is Halloween, an astronomical cross-quarter day. Such dates occur roughly half way between an equinox and a solstice. In many calendars, such a date marked the beginning of a season, not its middle.

Daily Cosmic Calendar for Monday, October 29th

The last three days of October pack a cosmic wallop in more ways than one. Right now three challenging sky cycles — the monthly lunar opposition to Saturn from Cancer to Capricorn (12:33am), Mars making a dicey, 45-degree tie to Saturn (3:48am), and Mercury forming a parallel to sometimes authoritarian Pluto (7:35am) — attempt to rain on a favorable parade of encouraging heavenly alignments. The good news includes flowing trines by the moon with the sun in Scorpio (2:35am) and Neptune in Pisces (4:13pm) — forming an insight-beckoning grand triangle in water signs. Plus, it helps greatly in business-professional matters, the arts and social activities, as well as in many healing modalities that Mercury unites with Jupiter at 28 degrees of Scorpio at 4:06am and trines Chiron in Pisces (6:58pm). Venus tosses in a potentially love-enhancing parallel with Mars (4:42pm) as an extra gift to so many souls looking for encouragement in affairs of the heart.

The Witches Current Moon Phase for Monday, October 29th

Waning Gibbous
Illumination: 74%

Tomorow the Moon will be in a Waning Gibbous Phase. This is the first phase after the Full Moon occurs. Moon in Cancer

The Moon is traveling through Cancer today. Beware of mood swings. Cook some soul food. Cuddle up with someone.

The restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet. Feelings of belonging and safety are what motivate us under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Although insular by nature, our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with what motivates us.

The Moon in Cancer generally favors the following activities: Domestic activities, those that involve awareness of personal needs. Home decor, family get-togethers.

One Day To Beltane (Southern Hemisphere)

One Days Till Beltane

(Southern Hemisphere)

“Fertility rights are ceremonies of a magic-religious nature performed to ensure the perpetuation of mankind and to control the environment. Expressed as invocations, incantations, prayers, hymns, processions, dances, and sacred dramas, these liturgical endeavors were, and still are, believed to be closely connected with the mechanisms of nature. The basis for such rites is usually a belief in sympathetic magic – that is magic worked on one level to have an effect on a different level, and based on the assumption that life and fertility, whether animal or vegetable, are one and indivisible. If such fertility rites could induce fertility in the animal and human worlds, then the vegetable world would also be stimulated to reproduction, resulting in an abundant harvest.”

– Robert Ellison, The Solitary Druid, p. 130

Two Days Till Samhain, The Witches New Year (Northern Hemisphere)

Two Days Till Samhain

(Northern Hemisphere)

“The Lord of Life Greenwood Man will now adopt his position as Lord of the Underworld, the dread Lord of Shadows. All around leaves are changing color and falling from branches , with life itself retracting back into roots and bulbs . Not destroyed , but moved to another plane for the Winter , to rest , to recuperate in order to be re born. This is a time to draw in our energy , and prepare for Winter. The colours are not provided by flowers, and yet the Earth is surrounded in color … the color are of harvest and reflect the colors of the harvest an animals too. As Samhain or Halloween arrives, so does JackFrost, making mysterious veil patterns on our windows, reminding us of his cleverness and intricate work. Caileach, The Crone, the Wise One, The Oldest of the Phases of The Moon, has devoured the God so that she can rebirth him. Her womb is the Underworld. Samhain is a time of transformation and of looking inside ourselves, a time for introspection. It is also a sombre time of remembrance, when we remember and honour those who have died. On this date the difference between the planes is at its lightest and we invite the dead to join us to feast. We can contact those who have died in all years gone by and we call upon ancient men and women to help us at this time.”

May The Goddess Fill Your Life With Love, Light & Blessings This Monday Morn’!

Halloween

“As I went out walking this fall afternoon,
I heard a whisper whispering.
I heard a whisper whispering,
Upon this fine fall day…

As I went out walking this fall afternoon,
I heard a laugh a’ laughing.
I heard a laugh a’ laughing,
Upon this fine fall day…

I heard this whisper and I wondered,
I heard this laugh and then I knew.
The time is getting near my friends,
The time that I hold dear my friends,
The veil is getting thin my friends,
And strange things will pass through.”

Our Hearts & Prayers Go Out To All Effected by The Synagogue Shootings In Pittsburgh

Our hearts and our prayers go out to all the victims of the Synagogue Shootings In Pittsburgh. There comes a time when we must set aside our own personal beliefs and traditions and pray for those who are victims of such senseless violence and killings. Today is that day.

Across our many religious divides let us put that aside and remember one important thing, we are all one race in the Goddess’ eyes. We are all Her children. We are all brothers & sisters on our Great Mother Earth. When such violence that has occurred today happens, it effects us all.

We pray for those who lost their lives today, their families, their friends, their loved ones and most of all the community of Pittsburgh. We ask that those who were injured make a full and speedy recovery. Let the healing process begin, even though it is a long and difficult road at times, let them know they do not walk it alone. We are with them in thought, spirit and prayer. Most of all, you Almighty Mother are with them. Let them feel Your comfort, Your love and Your strength during the days ahead.

Almighty Mother, most of all, we pray that we never have to turn on a TV or pick up a newspaper and hear of such violence ever again. With all our hearts we pray that the senseless violence and killings in our country cease. Let us remember what it was like to live in peace and strive for that existence once more. Let our fellow man learn to respect life and hold it sacred. Life is the most precious gift you have given us, let all mankind learn to treasure it once again.

Almighty Mother, we pray these things today and every day because through you all things are possible, if we only ask.

We have a large number of brothers & sisters in the Pittsburgh area, please light a candle and say a prayer for them and their safety.

Your Banishing Flame (Samhain)

Your Banishing Flame

As we say goodbye to the Celtic year, this is a good time to release things that have been holding you back. This is a fire festival and the strength and renewal ability of fire can be used to release the old habits and move forward into the new. Take time beforehand to consider what is holding you back and needs to be changed. Take a square piece of paper, and in black ink, write down exactly what needs to be changed/let go of i.e. I need to stop smoking. Turn over the paper and on the other side in green pen, the changes you need to grow, as if they have already happened i.e. my debts have been reduced/ paid due to stopping smoking etc. When your list of changes is done, place a bay leaf (kitchen) or a fallen oak leaf in the centre of the paper, then make 2 equal folds enclosing the black writing and leaf inside, then fold again twice more the other way to result in a small package. Place in a blank envelope and seal. Whether using a bonfire, the shop fire or the flame of your Samhain candle, you must burn this letter safely to seal the deal on the night of Samhain. As the paper begins to burn, watch it and say…

Negative patterns be gone I say, and now you burn, let them stay away

Open the door to changes great, transform my life as is my fate,

Expand my horizons, my life, my soul, as positive changes are now my goal.

Repeat till it burns out completely and finish with “So mote it be”

Now you can go into the Celtic new year knowing changes are on the way. It is done

Spell for Samhain to Ward of Bad Luck

Spell for Samhain to Ward of Bad Luck

There are a lot of people out there who believe they are having “a run of bad luck” and they say things run in 3’s. So here is what we are going to do. Because this is the start of the next wheel, forwarned is forarmed.

Take 3 shiny pennies, 3 pieces of cloth in a favourite colour and 3 bits of string/ribbon. Sit in front of your Samhain fire with protection incense burning and wrap each penny in a piece of cloth and tie with string saying:

“In luck I trust, in luck I believe, with this cloth, good luck I weave”.

Hold each pouch in the incense smoke and then place 2 safely on your altar/sacred space/magick box and hang the other over your front door.

Any time you feel there is a run of “bad luck”, you take this pouch out into a field/countryside/beach and bury it, saying

“Bad luck has come but not to stay, I bury it now to turn it away”.

Return home and hang a new one in its place. It is turned and we are done.

Remembering Those Who Have Gone (Samhain)

Remembering Those Who Have Gone

Items needed:

1 natural candle and 1 blue candle

1 stone/pebble amethyst or quartz for every person you would like to remember on this night

1 goblet red wine (or more if you have a lot of people to remember!!)

Cast your circle or sacred space, ensuring you have a comfortable area to sit within your circle as you could be there some time. Light the two candles in the west of your circle forming a doorway by which spirit can enter should they choose to do so. Now, take one crystal in your hand, close your eyes and remember the good things about that person – those things that made you smile, laugh or cry. Then, when you have remembered the things you wanted to, simply state something like “If you are able, please come and sit with me…name….” then lay down the stone with the candles. Lift your glass and toast them and take a drink. Continue until all the people you wanted to think about had been remembered.

You may get the feeling that one is present, a few or all if you are lucky, in which case it will be a crowded circle. However, it is lovely to sit and remember and let them come should they want to. This is what Samhain is for and why the children dress as ghosts and ghouls. When you have sat for enough time and all is done (you can also do your divination within the circle as it would definitely be a powerful reading), then simply pick up each crystal individually, stating something like “…name…, thank you for your time, and I bid you hale and farewell.” and when all have been thanked, then close down your circle and keep those special crystals on your altar.

Samhain Ritual: 31 October

Samhain Ritual: 31 October

Materials: one cauldron, filled with water

CRONE This should be an older female.

OLD KING This should be a person chosen by lottery, or by whoever is acting as Crone. It can be enacted by the HP if needed.

BARD/GREEN MAN If the coven has no Bard available, then a Green Man should be chosen by lottery, or by whoever is acting as Maiden. It can be enacted by the HP, if needed.

The place of ritual should be set up, away from the gathered participants. This is not something that people should miss, so make sure that potty break is taken care of before the circle is cast.

HPS

Go we now to the sacred place
And stand within the sacred space
Turn your minds to sacred things
And dance with me unto the ring!

HP and HPS lead the coven to the place of ritual by a spiral dance, ending in a circle around the altar. The cauldron should be at the south. The Old King dances at the end of the line.

HPS

Come we forth, with the Spiral Dance
Within the Lady’s radiance
To mark the turning of the year
The door to Winter now is here.

Earth and Water, Fire and Air
I invoke the Goddess there!
This night we are Between the Worlds
To celebrate the year unfurled!

HP

Earth and Water, Fire and Sky
I invoke the God on high
This night we are Between the Worlds
To celebrate the year unfurled!

The corners shall be called thusly, that all may hear, but shall not be called until the HPS reaches that corner on her circumnabulation.

EAST

O Guardians of the Eastern Tower,
Airy ones of healing power
I do summon, stir and call you
See these rites and guard this circle!

Come to us and heed our call!
By the Power that made us all;
By the Power that blesses Thee
Come to us; and Blessed Be!

SOUTH

Oh fiery ones of Southern Power
Thus I invite you to this tower
I do summon, stir and call you
See these rites and guard this circle!

Come to us and heed our call!
By the Power that made us all;
By the Power that blesses Thee:
Come to us; and Blessed Be!

WEST

Western ones of water’s flow
Help to guard us here below
I do summon, stir and call you
See these rites and guard this circle!

Come to us and heed our call!
By the Power that made us all;
By the Power that blesses Thee:
Come to us; and Blessed Be!

NORTH

Earthen ones of Northern fame
Bless and guard our Power’s fane
I do summon, stir and call you

See these rites and guard this circle!
Come to us and heed our call!
By the Power that made us all;
By the Power that blesses Thee:
Come to us; and Blessed Be!

The HPS shall move to each corner, and say, following each corner’s crying as she moves to the next:

HPS

So I cast and consecrate
This Circle of the small and great:
By Fin and Feather, Leaf and Tree,
By Rock and Earth, by Land and Sea,
By Fire and Water, Earth and Air,
By the Lord, and Lady Fair!
By Love and Joy and Work and Play,
All things harmful cast away!
By lightning’s flash, and rain’s soft fall,
By the Power that made us all;
By the Power that blesses Thee:
(Cast the Circle: Blessed be!)

On her return to the first corner she shall change the last line above, and say:

The Circle’s cast; and Blessed Be!

The callers of the corners shall return their tools to the altar, and then shall join the circle at their corners.

Here begins the Samhain Mystery:

OLD KING

Thus I invoke the Lady White
To come to us this sacred night.
By Fin and Feather, Leaf and Tree,
I shall show you a Mystery!

Bard/Green Man and Maiden join hands, facing each other. The Maiden speaks to the Bard/Green Man:

MAIDEN

Lord of Life, hail Land-Master!
God of grain that grows and dies
Rising reborn, full of richness;
Fallow fields shall yet be fertile –
Spring sap runs as stirs your manhood
Bless barren earth, bear fruit again!

The Bard/Green Man speaks to Maiden:

BARD/GREEN MAN

Snow-shoes striding, hail swift Huntress!
Wild one, free and willful Goddess
Bow and blade you bear beside you,
Finding food to fend off hunger –
Winter will not leave us wanting;
Give good hunting, grant us skill.

The Old King moves to the West. The Crone moves to the North.

HP

Cunning and art he did not lack
But aye her whistle would fetch him back!

OLD KING

Yet I shall go into a trout.
With sorrow and sighing and mickle doubt
And show thee many a merry game
Ere that I be fetch-ed hame!

CRONE

Trout, take heed of an otter lank
Will harry thee close from bank to bank
For here come I in the Lady’s Name
All but for to fetch thee hame!

The Old King moves to the South. The Crone moves to the West.

HP

Cunning and art he did not lack
But aye her whistle would fetch him back!

OLD KING

Yet I shall go into a bee
With mickle fear and dread of thee
And flit to hive in the Lady’s Name
Ere that I be fetch-ed hame!

CRONE

Bee, take heed of a red, red cock
Will harry thee close through door and lock
For here come I in the Lady’s Name
All but for to fetch thee hame!

The Old King moves to the East. The Crone moves to the South.

HP

Cunning and art he did not lack
But aye her whistle would fetch him back!

OLD KING

Oh, I shall go into a hare
with sorrow, sighing and mickle care
And I shall go in the Lady’s Name
Aye, until I be fetch-ed hame!

CRONE

Hare, take heed of a swift greyhound
Will harry thee all these fields around
For here come I in the Lady’s Name
All but for to fetch thee hame!

The Old King moves to the North. The Crone moves to the East.

HP

Cunning and art he did not lack
But aye her whistle would fetch him back!

OLD KING

Yet I shall go into a mouse
And haste me unto the Miller’s House
There in his corn to have good game
Ere that I be fetch-ed hame!

CRONE

Mouse, take heed of a white she-cat
That never was balked of mouse nor rat
For here come I in the Lady’s Name
And -thus- it is I fetch thee hame!

Crone walks to Old King and takes his hand. He falls as if dead.

HPS

Cunning and art he did not lack
But aye Her Song has fetched Him back!

Summer’s gone, the Lady reigns
And Winter has returned again!

Maiden wets her hands with water from the Cauldron, and sprinkles it on the Old King, who comes to life again.

OLD KING

Cunning and art I do not lack
But aye Her Cauldron will bring me back!

The Crone and Old King shall join hands, facing each other, and say:

Note: These Norse style verses were taken from a file I got (I think) from Paul Seymour. Don’t know who author is.

CRONE

One-eye, Wanderer, God of wisdom,
Hunt-lord, hail, who leads the hosting!
Nine nights hanging, knowledge gaining,
Cloaked at crossroads, council hidden.
Now the night, your time, is near us –
Right roads send us on, Rune-winner.

OLD KING

Every age your eyes have witnessed;
Cauldron-Keeper, hail wise Crone!
Rede in riddles is your ration –
Wyrd-weaver at the World-tree’s root.
Eldest ancient, all-knowing one,
Speak unto us, send us vision!

Here the HPS should say:

HPS

We remember our dead; our loved ones gone to the Summerland before us. Give them peace and joy.

ALL

Blessed be!

READER

Never again the Burning Times! Let us remember our dead, good and bad, innocent and guilty:

HPS

Let them have peace.

ALL

Blessed be!

Here ends the Samhain Mystery.

A normal cone-of-power may be raised, for growth and healing:

HPS

In a ring we all shall stand
Pass the Power, hand to hand.

HP

As the season turns again
Power flows from friend to friend

HPS

Pass the Power, hand to hand
Bless the Lady, bless the Land

HP

Bless the Lord, and bless the Skies
Bless the Power that never dies!

The above four verses should be repeated three times, or as many times as needed, and the HPS shall then say:

HPS

By Fin and Feather, Leaf and Tree:
Let the Power flow out and free!

All should release, at this point.

Any needed coven business may be transacted here.

The Circle is opened:

HPS

Thus I release the East and West
Thanks to them from Host to Guest
Thus I release the South and North
With “Blessed Be’ I send them forth!
The Circle’s open, dance we so
Out and homeward we shall go.
Earth and Water, Air and Fire
Celebrated our desire.
We think of those in Summerland
Who dance together, hand in hand.
By Fin and Feather, Leaf and Tree,
Our circle’s done; and Blessed Be!

COVEN

Blessed Be!

All spiral dance out from the Circle, led by HP and HPS.

Samhain Ritual

Samhain Ritual

This ritual was written at a time when I did not have a qualified Priest in my group. However, it may easily be adapted for those groups in which the Priestess and Priest work together. It may be just as easily adapted to solitary work.

Place an apple and pomegranate upon the altar. There should also be a “planted” pot of earth for each participant – these may be arranged on the altar as well, if there is ample space. Instruments of divination may be placed within the Circle perimeter for use during the ritual if you wish. Arrange the altar as usual and decorate with Autumn leaves, pumpkins, etc.

The Circle is cast and purified the Circle in the usual manner. Dancing around the Circle in a shuffle step (deosil), all chant three times:

The Moon is bright, the Crone is old
The body lifeless – the bones so cold
We all live and pay our dues
To die in ones and threes and twos.

Death, dance and play the harp
Piercing silence in the dark
The Woman’s old with withered limbs
Death beckons Her to dance with Him

As She accepts the Dance of Death
The Earth is cooled by ghostly breath
To lie in dormancy once more
To have Her strength and life restored

Go to the Western Quarter and draw an invoking pentagram with the athame to open the gate. Then evoke the dead by saying:

All ye spirits who walk this night –
Hearken! Hearken to my call!
I bid you in our Circle join!
Enter! Enter – one and all!

Come ye, spirits of the dead:
Be ye spirit of plant or pet
Or human being who still roams!
Into this Circle you are let!

Speak to us of things unknown!
Lend your energies to this rite!
To speed your journey, we have joined
On this sacred Samhain night!

All ye spirits who walk this night –
Hearken! Hearken to my call!
I bid you in our Circle join!
Enter! Enter – one and all!

Bestow blessings upon the dead, saying:

Oh Mighty Pan of the Summerlands:
Guardian of the beloved dead
We pour forth love on those you keep
Safely, in your peaceful stead
We bless those who have walked the path
That someday, we as well, shall rove
We offer peace unto their souls
While resting in your arms, below

Now is the time for divination (Ouija Board, pendulum, cards, etc.) and communication with those who have gone on before us. Allow plenty of time for this. [Note: I have found that it is helpful to have a tape recorder handy within the Circle for recording any communications that may be “channeled” during this time. Some people disagree with this suggestion, saying that the metal of this electronic device causes scattered energies in the Circle; however, if the recorder has been cleansed and purified as the rest of the ritual tools, the problem seems to be resolved.]

When the divinatory processes are completed, the Priestess goes to the Western Quarter and draw the banishing pentagram, saying:

Blessings be upon thee, oh wondrous Spirits of the
Summerlands. We humbly thank thee for your presence in our
Circle and honor you in celebration this sacred night. We
beseech thee, oh Pan, keeper of the sacred dead, embrace
once again those souls within your keep and hold tightly
to your breast those which have been lost and wandering.
Grant them safe passage to the Summerland, where they may
rest peacefully in your strength until they are refreshed
and reborn again in perfect love. We bid thee all a fond
farewell. So mote it be!

The gate is now closed.

The Priestess goes to the altar and hold up the pomegranate, saying:

Behold the pomegranate, fruit of Life…

The athame is plunged into the pomegranate, splitting it open to display the seeds. She says:

Whose seeds lie in the dormancy of Death!

The Priestess eats one of the seeds, saying:

I Taste the seeds of Death.

The pomegranate is then passed hand to hand through the participants of the ritual, each eating a seed and saying to the next person:

“Taste the seeds of Death.”

The Priestess then holds up the apple, saying:

Behold the apple: fruit of wisdom, fruit of Death…

She then cuts the apple crosswise, saying:

Whose symbolism rewards us with life eternal!

She holds up the apple, displaying the inner pentagram, and says:

Behold the five-fold star – the promise of rebirth!

Consecrate the fruit and wine. Each person then tastes of the apple and sips the wine, saying to the next person:

Taste the fruit of rebirth and sip from the cup of wine of Life.

After libation, the Priestess presents each member of the group with a small pot of earth, planted with three seeds [preferably rue or lavender]. She briefly explains to the group that this is the season of the seed – it is a time of dormancy, but also a time of re-generation for growth. Further, as the seed rests in the earth, they should also take time to rest and re-evaluate their lives, metaphorically planting only those values which will enrich and enhance the growth within the Divine Self. She then instructs them to name the seeds within their pots with three values they wish to incorporate into their lives, knowing that as the seeds sprout with new life, their lives will be new, as well.

After the presentation, all join hands and hold them skyward.

PRIESTESS:

Thus is the Circle of Rebirth.
All pass from this life through the great god, Pan
But through My love you are all reborn
In the cycles of nature – through the Cosmic Plan.

In living we die – in dying we live
The fruit is first seed, yet seed comes from the fruit
In the mystery of life and death and rebirth
The Circle turns ever, and I am its root.

ALL RESPOND:

The Sun conceived in Darkness, cold
In the Shadow of Death, a Life unfolds
A shred of Light begins to burn
From Death comes Life – the Circle turns.

Dismiss Quarters and Dissolve Circle.

PRIESTESS:

The rite is ended.

ALL:

Merry meet and merry part and merry meet again!

Outdoor libation to the Lord and Lady, and the spirits of the dead.

Jack-O-Lantern Warding Spell (Samhain)

Jack-O-Lantern Warding Spell

If you feel you are being plagued by some malevolent spirit or energy, try this during the Samhain season to protect your home and send it away.

You Will Need:

  • Pumpkin
  • Pumpkin carving tools
  • Black votive candles
  • Clove oil
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic cloves
  1. Hollow and carve your pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern the normal way. This is no time for cutesy pictures or artsy expressions. Just carve your basic scary face into it.
  2. In meditation, talk to your jack-o-lantern. Give him a name. Tell him his purpose—to ward off evil, fend off baneful magic, or banish unwanted spirits.
  3. Anoint your votive candle with clove oil, building energy as you rub it in. Empower it with your desire by simply visualizing your desire going down your arms, through your hands, into the candle. You might chant as you do this. This is the energy-raising part of the spell, so really focus on your goal and let it build.
  4. Place the candle inside your jack-o-lantern. Drop some garlic cloves and a few pinches of black pepper around it for good measure.
  5. Put your jack-o-lantern outside your door. Light the candle to release the energy. Let it burn out.
  6. For maximum effect, do this three nights in a row (putting in a newly anointed candle each night).

Samhain Spirit-Banishing Incense

Spirit-Banishing Incense

Burn this if you are worried that baneful spirits are bothering you during this season when the veil is thin, or to follow up after burning Spirit Drawing Incense to ensure spirits return from whence they came.

3 parts Frankincense

2 parts sage

1 parts ground angelica root

1 part St. John’s Wort

1 part bay

IF you feel a particularly malevolent spirit is about, you may add one part fumitory, or a pinch of garlic powder (just a pinch—it’s strong!)

If your frankincense is not already thoroughly ground, let it air-dry overnight, then grind it in your mortar and pestle going counter-clockwise while focusing on banishing. After the frankincense is ground, add the other ingredients, one at time, to incorporate and blend them.

Burn to rid the area of unwanted spirits. If burning indoors, open all the windows.
