| Charlie is our little “butterball.” Yes, weighing in at 31 pounds he is a bit large for his breed but there is just more of him to love. My daughter Jenny fell in love with this particular breed by looking at pictures on the Internet. Soon she was begging for this “second” dog to add to our family of pets which already included four cats and a Golden Retriever. After a while I began to adore those cute little faces as well and found myself researching breeders. When we got Charlie he was about the size of a grapefruit and we fell immediately in love with him. He loves to play tug of war and has a bit of a stick fetish. He loves to chase them and then make you chase him to get them back.He also loves the water. We have taken him out on the ocean several times on our fishing boat and he will settle himself in your lap for the ride to Catalina Island. Once there he will chase and be chased by his big sister Sammy, (the golden retriever) in the surf. He has even been cajoled out into the surf swimming with, of course, the toss of a stick.
If you pat your lap he will lumber over and plop himself down for some serious scratching and loving and who can resist that? He always has kisses to give to everyone, especially small children. He still chases a cat or two around the house when he is feeling playful. But mostly his interactions with the cats can be quite endearing. We have managed to snap a few photos of some tender moments snuggling and kissing our friendly felines. And oh, did I mention he snores, quite loudly, but we don’t mind. I have to admit that Charlie gives us many things to snicker about, his size, his snoring, his occasional grumpy growls, and other endearing habits too numerous to mention. But we all admit that life without Charlie is unimaginable. We love our Charlie!!! |

Throughout the day, whenever a disturbance ruffles the surface of your mood, recall the image of the lake; feel the ripples of emotion settle into calm.

Take a High John the Conqueror Root and anoint it with John the Conqueror Oil. On a piece of brown paper, write the name of the person you wish to control/conquer and soak the paper in Controlling Oil. When the paper is dry, wrap it around the High John the Conqueror root and tie with purple thread.

There seems to be two important things to do in times of difficulty. One is to pray and the other to keep our sense of humor. The first is essential to make the basic correction and the other is necessary to balance the human spirit while things work out.
Without a sense of humor, we tend to become too serious about the personal self. It becomes all too important, too self-righteous, and far too self-centered.
At the first sign of trouble, we may want to find someone wiser in whom to confide and ask questions. And their advice may be most helpful, but it is still our own responsibility to get off our backs and do it with dignity and self-respect that will not lower our standards nor cause us embarrassment. And humor can help us do it.
There is humor in every situation if we can detach ourselves from the seriousness of it long enough to look for it. Abraham Lincoln knew the importance of his sense of humor and said, “With the fearful strain that is on me night and day, if I did not laugh I should die.”

Keep moving
When your efforts bring the results you seek and also when they don’t, keep moving. Welcome the achievements with humility, welcome the setbacks with confidence, and keep moving.
Don’t use success as an excuse to rest on your accomplishments. Don’t use failure as an excuse to give up.
Whatever has happened before, your best choice now is to keep moving, keep learning, keep making the effort, and keep improving. Build new value with what does work, and accumulate valuable experience from what doesn’t work.
When you realize you’ve been distracted and wandered off course, don’t let it get you down. Just accept where you are, figure out the best way forward, and quickly get going again.

| Meet Milly, she’s my beautiful blue-eyed apple head Seal Point Siamese Cat. I got her and her daughter Izzy in 2008 after my cat Samantha went to the Rainbow Bridge after twenty wonderful years with me. Milly’s former owners used to breed Siamese cats and they were moving out of state and could only take two cats with them. Milly came with fleas and worms and a big desire to be outside hunting. It took a while but she adjusted to being a happy indoor cat who is leash trained and allowed outside only with supervision. She even got used to sharing her house with two pet mice and a couple of Betta fish (the only casualty was a packet or two of Betta fish food.)Milly is special because she is a typical loud-mouthed Siamese cat. She is a real motormouth and we have lots of long, deep conversations with her. She lets you know what she wants and when she wants it.(usually it is right now!) She is a great lap kitty and has a very loud purr to go with her loud mouth. She can be a quirky cat, she loves being rubbed all over, loves playing with her catnip toys and just loves food of all kinds! Milly is very direct in letting you know just what she wants, she will not be ignored, she will meow, headbutt you, try to trip you and even poke you on the nose with her paw if you don’t give her what she wants. Usually it is food or a supervised trip out in the yard but sometimes she just wants extra love and attention which we are more than happy to give her. | |||

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’

As long as there has been a human race, there has been someone crying out, “No one understands!” Somewhere along the way communications have broken down and the result is misunderstanding.
To be misunderstood is painful. We keep wanting to explain and explain until we get our message across. Sometimes it is the lack of the wise use of words. Then, it may be an unwilling ear. But whatever the race, the politics, sophisticated or home grown, everyone has the desire to be understood. They want every motive, every mood, completely and unquestionably understood.
But to be completely understood can also have its rebound. A goddess can turn into a woman and a hero can slip into a man when only one of their moods is completely understood.
Understanding breeds familiarity. Familiarity may not breed contempt, but it can certainly take the edge off the mystery. And, it is mystery that keeps life interesting.
In all wisdom, we should worry much less about being completely understood, and make a more diligent effort to understand others.
Something dies within us when no one cares. It is a circumstance of our own making when we have failed to give to another the thought and concern that would have helped when it was most needed.
Sorrows can be borne because others care. Greatness can be achieved because someone cared. To care is our purpose.
Who knows but that these small acts of sympathy and understanding may place another life into the one slot on the jigsaw puzzle of life.
If we were all the things we expect of others, the result would be perfection. We would be perfect in forgiveness, faithful in love, and devoted to the welfare of others. Such excellence has never been accomplished, except that we work continually for it. To work for it, we have to care. And for someone to care is the thing that matters.

B‘Jovi’s name came from my love for the band Bon Jovi and I just wanted to give her a name that reflected that. She is very curious, likes to suck on my fingers and loves to sleep in weird poses.
B’Jovi is absolutely crazy, she roams the house hours on end chirping and moaning. She likes to hear us talk and answers back if and when spoken to. She is pushy and an all in your face kind of kitten, if she feels she is not getting enough attention she will climb on you and push her head under your hand until you pet her, and she will also push her snout all over your face until you acknowledge her. She knows when I am getting ready to shower and waits for me at the ledge of the bath and waits for me until I am done. If we are cleaning she follows us around and loves to just be everywhere we are (she is the definition of lap cat). And last but certainly not least what makes me laugh about her the most is the poses she chooses to lay down in, basically making a complete circle of herself. Also I guess I should mention that the reason or origin of her name are two things. I am a huge Bon Jovi fan and originally the intention was to name her Jovi; however, every time I was going to call her I ended up saying B and then Jovi (because I was so used to calling my other cat) Butters … finally I got tired of fighting it and ended up changing her name to B’Jovi.   |

Mars is an energetic Black Lab who loves doing anything outside. He enjoys many trips to dog beach and walks in the surrounding regional parks. We live in San Diego, so the weather is usually good, and there are lots of choices of places to take him! He is constantly the center of attention (both good and bad), and is adored by anyone who meets him.
Although at times his energy is a little overwhelming, a quick toss of the ball outside or a nice walk always calms him down. His favorite trick to do is “high five,” of course a treat is always appreciated when doing this. He loves to get his belly rubbed and does the most adorable head tilt when you are talking to him. It really looks like he understand every word you say! Overall, Mars is the friendliest Lab you will ever meet and always wants to play with new friends. Recently Mars went to a doggie cafe social at the local humane society and won first place in the trick competition they had! He basically outlasted all the other dogs by knowing how to do the most tricks which was super fun and exciting!  See more images of Mars! |

I came to meet Cupid through a good friend of mine. She said her dog was pregnant and thought about me right away. She knew of my love for dogs and thought I would be a great choice for one of her dog’s pups. I couldn’t wait to choose my pup when they were born. My dad said I could have one but it had to be a girl because boys have a tendency to be territorial. I was fine with that because I just really wanted my own dog. The pups would be Chihuahua/Papillon mixes.
The day they were born, I received a picture from my friend with all the pups. I was so excited and couldn’t wait to get the call that I was allowed to go pick one out. When my friend called me, I rushed right over to choose one. I played with each pup, but none really sparked a relationship with me. Then I noticed one of the pups crying and strayed away from the rest. I picked him up, and fell in love with him. I noticed he had a heart spot on his side and instantly gave him the name Cupid. I begged my parents to let me get the male I fell in love with. They ended up giving in with the agreement that I had to pay for his vet bills and to train him. When I knew Cupid was mine, I couldn’t wait til the day he came home. My friend dropped off Cupid to me when he was six weeks old – five days after my boyfriend and I made our relationship official. He was the tiniest, cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Two years later, I couldn’t love him anymore than I already do. He loves to cuddle with me, play with his favorite toy, and tows his blanket everywhere he goes. He’s the sweetest pup who loves to give kisses to anyone he meets. He acts like he’s so tough sometimes, but at the same time is scared of bugs. I don’t know where I would be without this dog now that I’ve known what life is like with him. He’s always there to listen. He knows when I am upset. He knows when I am sick. He will be the best nurse and take care of you if you’re sick-by “take care” I mean, he naps with you and never leaves your side. After getting to know his personality, his name does suit him. He makes everyone he meet fall in love with him. Instead of arrows, though, he has kisses!   |

A graphologist is a handwriting analysis expert who can take apart the loops and dashes of our penmanship and tell us about our nature. We have a natural curiosity about ourselves. We want to know whether our self-image is the true one. We often think we are capable of seeing another’s true nature, but we seem to lack the ability to really know ourselves. In fact, so much about us reveals our disposition and temperament that it can be distressing.
Our handwriting may tell us about our emotional nature, and we may learn that we are introverts by the slant of our letters, but much of our disposition can be self-analyzed by the way other people respond to us.
It doesn’t take a graphologist to tell us that if we are inconsistent in our friendliness, if the tongue alternates acid and honey, if we continually complain, continually gossip, criticize and pout, we are revealing a nature we too often think is hidden.

Hi, I am KC, that stands for kitty cat. I know, it’s not too creative a name, but it is my name and that’s that. Some people think it’s spelled C-a-s-e-y, but nope, it’s just KC. I was adopted in Sebastion Florida from a wonderful lady named Ann. No one knows how old I am, they didn’t tell Ann when she adopted me, I guess. I have lived on both coasts of Florida and was in hospice with Ann when she lost her life to a sudden, but thankfully quick battle with cancer. It was good the hospice let me be with her, as she needed a friend right then.
Well, after Ann died, Ann’s son tried to care for me but then decided to drive me to South Florida to be taken in by his daughter Sarah. I have lived with Sarah since and we are so happy! We now reside in Austin Texas and have a huge yard with a creek for me to play in. I am told I am more dog than cat, II guess most cats do not like water. Being a Maine Coon, all of my hair makes me look tough and I guard the yard – when I am not cuddling with Sarah, of course. Life is good here.  |

Hello! I would like to honor my dog Saito; he is wonderful and handsome.
Hello. My name is Saito, named after ancient Japanese warrior Hajime Saito. I insisted on writing my own Dog of the Day summary, as I consider myself more human than dog: Exhibit A – I prefer people food over “kibble.” My favorite is pita; I don’t like jalapeños. Once when my humans were away, I ate all of the leftover pizza! Minus the jalapeños, which I removed with surgical precision and lined up on the living room rug. Exhibit B – I prefer people furniture. My favorite is the couch when my humans are lounging on the floor. Every night, I slumber on the guest bed with my little sister curled up on the floor in front of me like my dog. Exhibit C – I am proud of my looks. I stand straighter and walk with more swagger when I wear my favorite bandanas. My looks have gotten my humans countless free drinks at Starbucks drive-throughs. Once when we were in Boston, a couple stopped us to offer me one of the hamburgers they just picked up for take-out (which my humans turned it down! I’m still upset about that). Exhibit D – I need my personal space and freedom. Unlike most canines, I am choosy about when I dole out affection…most typically when I want something or think I’ve done something wrong. When my humans call me over, I stop just far enough out of their reach. And finally, I believe a man needs his adventures; if the backyard gate is accidentally left open, I unfailingly run away! My humans sometimes call me “Emo Boy.” It’s true that occasionally I cry for seemingly no reason or stare blankly into space for minutes at a time. The characterization falls a bit flat though, because my favorite toy is a stuffed pink dragon named Marjorine. I have seven Marjorines whom I love equally. My humans constantly shower me with affection, toys, and treats and also tell me how special I am. I know they love me more than anything, which I deserve.   |

Introducing Simone and Solange, Siamese cats … and real Siamese twin sisters! You cannot think of Solange without Simone or the inverse; they are just glued to one another! Those two little sisters are the most loving and precious cats in the world (from an objective point of view!). We first go them for the children but surprisingly, I got very attached to them. Truly, when I wake up with the two of them, sleeping inside my blankets against my stomach, looking at me with the look that says it all (the * I love you so much and I don’t need to speak to tell it to you* look), I feel so much love for those two cats that I could think possible. it is really hard to take a good picture of them as they are camera shy and always close their beautiful blue eyes!
Being an anxious person, it happens that I feel stressed, in my bed at night. Then the cats arrive, they start to purr, they literally cuddle me … and my respiration slows down, my breathing gets better, I start to feel more relaxed … no meditation needed with those two. They have helped me in a way that many people would not understand and for that, they are my cats of the day every day. |

This is Joey, he’s my Yorkshire Terrier, and he just turned eight years old on March 8th! My dog is so sweet and smart. When he wants something, he literally shows you what he wants by taking you to a specific place. (Like if he wants to go out, he leads you to the back door, or if he wants a treat, he points to the treats with his nose.) My dog also loves wearing clothes. When he sees you holding an item of his clothing, he gets so excited and he will sit down and help you dress him by giving you his paws. His toys have names and he knows all of them; if you tell him to get you the ball, he’ll get it. If you tell him to get you his stuffed red dog, Rodrico, he will go and get it. If you are upset, he will sit by you and stay with you; I fell down the stairs the other day and for the rest of the day, every time I went up and down the stairs, he would watch me closely, making sure I didn’t fall again.
Joey has been in my life since I was twelve and I love him so much. He is a part of the family and I talk to him as if he is a human being himself. He is so sweet, smart, gentle, playful … the list goes on!  |
