Gibbous Moon

(waning /76% illumination)

This is a tremendous time of transmutation. All of the prior elements are coming together for a final burst of creative output. You have seen a clear view of your own needs and the posture of significant others. Now the accumulation of that input is leading to a deep, core change within you. In this phase, you will naturally be inclined to seek higher guidance so that you can emerge from this transformation successfully. The Disseminting Moon favors sharing what you have learned (and are learning) with others.

Spell Working

SPELL WORKING

Because of the very nature of magick, each working should be highly individualized and personal.  Even if following a traditional spell, it should be tailored to your specific needs to be most effective for you. Understanding the basics of spell construction will enable you to formulate your own specific, effective spells for any purpose you desire.

Preliminary planning is necessary.  The very first step is to decide precisely what your desired end result is to be.  Before you can start, you must decide where you are going.  You must be very explicit.

It is important, also, that you choose your time carefully.  You should take into consideration all astrological implications, energy currents and moon phases.

The moon is the astronomical body closest to us and, therefore, has a profound influence upon us, it is very important to choose a time when the moon is in an astrological sign which is appropriate for your working.

For example:

Aries/action – enthusiasm

Taurus/renewal – sensuality

Gemini/communication – curiosity

Cancer/emotion – nurturing

Leo/vitality – determined

Virgo/organizing – studious

Libra/balance – cooperation

Scorpio/sexual – philosophical

Sagitarius/strength – humour

Capricorn/authority – ambitious

Aquarius/innovation – social

Pisces/sensitivity – idealistic.

Bear in mind that magickal workings for gain, increase or bringing things to you, should be initiated when the moon is waxing (from dark to full);  when the moon is waning (from full to dark), it is time for magickal workings of decrease or sending away.

The highest energy occurs at the full moon and, therefore, this is the most powerful time for magickal workings.  The new moon is the next most powerful time for magick.

Whenever possible, follow nature’s natural energy currents.  There is a natural time for starting things (a planting time), for maturing things (a growing time), for reaping things ( a harvest time) and, of course, a time for rest and planning.

Flowing with these currents will make your magickal work much easier. remember to plan your project for a time of uninterrupted privacy.  It is important that you have no distractions.  Generally speaking, it is best to work as late at night as possible.  A time when there is less frantic energy is most appropriate.  You might consider midnight or later.

In choosing a place to do your magickal working pay particular attention to your needs, for you must be comfortable.  Your place should be private, quiet and secure.  If at all possible, set aside a special place for this purpose only.  An unused room, a special corner of your bedroom, a quiet, secluded spot in your garden.  A place that is yours.  A place that you can come to whenever need arises and that is as free from intrusion of others as possible.

Prior to the night of your magickal working, gather together the things that you will need.  All of the things used are tools.  They have no inherent magick.  They are to help you create a mood.  If correctly made and used, they will trigger primitive responses from deep within you.  They should be chosen with care.  Consider the purpose of your ritual and choose your tools accordingly.  If your magick is to be sexual, your candles, oils, incenses and so forth, should bring forth a sexual response.  If the desired result of your magick is tranquillity, then the tools should make you feel calm, peaceful and serene.  Any candles you might use should not have commercially added fragrances as these may not be appropriate for your working.

Prior to your ritual, prepare yourself and your equipment by any means necessary to clean and purify.  Historically, people have fasted, followed meticulous and detailed bathing practices, practiced chastity and used many other methods.

Most often a ritual bath is the preferred method.  A bath frequently utilizing candlelight, fragrant herbs, bath salts or sensuous oils. A sumptuous hot bath, special bathing preparations and appropriate lighting, combined, can create the soothing effect which will help in the very important step of relaxing and clearing the mind completely of all mundane thoughts and experiences of the day.  Your ritual bath should, also, begin to set the specific vibrations conducive to your purpose into motion.  You must not only cleanse and purify but must, also, begin to create the type of energy necessary. Once your purification process has been accomplished, you are now ready to begin.  Proceed to the special place you have previously chosen in which to perform your magick.  If at all possible, you should make use of the primitive responses set into motion by a well chosen piece of music.  Your music should start slowly and build to a rousing climax.

Current Moon Phase for October 21st – Full Moon

Full Moon

(waning/82% illumination)

A veil of self-absorption is lifted and suddenly you gain access to an unbiased view of others. This is a rare moment when you can see yourself objectively and become aware of whether or not what you want in your heart is actually beginning to manifest in your life. Traditionally, the Full Moon phase stirs emotion, and this is because when you “see” what is happening, you may become upset if you’re experiencing the “same ole, same ole” — rather than the things you would like. If the Full Moon phase is a disappointment, on the next New Moon it’s time to take creative action in the direction of your dreams.

Your Ancient Symbol Card for October 18th is Mars

Your Ancient Symbol Card for Today

Mars

Mars represents those qualities we commonly associate with the male/yang persona. Mars traits include raw energy, ambition, aggression, confidence, passion, and a sense of adventure. The occurrence of Mars denotes the dominating presence or need of the qualities listed above. Martian influence may have a negative impact unless it is balanced with an influence that can blunt the brashness and impulsiveness of Mars.

As a daily card, Mars suggests you would be well served by allowing your more aggressive side take control for at least for a short while. Now is a time for you to act with confidence and decisiveness. However, keep in mind that the qualities associated with Mars can do more damage than good if allowed to run free for too long.

The Witches Magick for Oct. 17th – Silver Moon Spell

magick21

Silver Moon Spell

This spell is called the Silver Moon Spell. Use it when you want to attract abundance.

You Will Need:

Your magickal broom

Cauldron/metal bowl

Fresh Water

Silver Coin

The spell should be done during the Full Moon.

Choose an outdoor space where you have a clear view of the moon, without any trees or houses blocking it.

Sweep your magickal space with the broom, and create your circle using natural Elements such as stones or twigs.

Fill the cauldron half full with water and position it so that the light of the Full Moon reflects in the water that is in the cauldron.

Drop the silver coin into the cauldron.

Gently sweep your hands just above the surface of the water, you are gathering the silver of the Moon.

As you do this, say the following

“Lovely Lady Of The Moon,
Bring to me your wealth right soon.
“Fill my hands with Your silver and gold,
all you give my hands will hold.”

Concentrate deeply on your needs, and focus on the thought of the endless abundance that exists. Focus on attracting a piece of that abundance to you.

When you have finished your spell, pour out the water onto the ground. Take the silver coin and keep it in your pocket until your fortunes begin to change.

Stretching Ourselves

Stretching Ourselves

With planning, you can turn your dreams into reality…

Jeff Jawer   Jeff Jawer on the topics of venus, neptune, blogs, astrology

We may find ourselves floating above the ground in the latter part of this week thanks to two spacey and expansive planetary patterns on Thursday Oct. 10 and Saturday Oct. 12. Both invite us to look beyond the limits of current reality where we can find inspiration. This pair of transits, though, is also associated with illusions that can lead us down a garden path that ends in a stony field where hope cannot take root. As with every planetary pattern, there are opportunities and risks.

These events are two challenging squares between Venus and Neptune and the Sun and Jupiter. The first is a romantic’s ideal as the planet of love is dissolved in a dreamy bath of imagination. Hearts can melt as social rules fall away in the fog of fantasy. This is an excellent aspect for inspiring lovers, poets and artists of all kinds. Venus’ aesthetic limits drift away on Neptunian clouds that make previously unattractive people seem more desirable. While it warms the heart to have these erotic boundaries erased, Thursday’s hunger for amour can blur judgment in relationships. We tend to see people as we’d like to see them, setting aside objective criteria and critical thinking. Those seeking pleasure at any cost can find it, although the price to be paid can be disillusionment when this transit passes and reality returns.

Keep those purse strings tight

Venus is also related to values, which can lose connection to logic thanks to Neptune’s unearthly influence. Spending money carelessly is a possible risk that should be avoided by delaying significant purchases. The stressful square between these planets is perfect for having otherworldly experiences but is a negative when it comes to practical matters. If you fall in love with an object or activity that will bust your budget, don’t write a check or take out your credit card until reason returns in a few days.

Take a realistic approach

The Sun and Jupiter are the largest bodies in the solar system, so Saturday’s tense aspect between these giants could shake our planet. There isn’t much that we can do to prevent earthquakes yet a little caution will help us to avoid getting lost in inflationary ideas. The willful, self-important Sun square boundless Jupiter can expand egos, raising expectations and making promises that may be hard to keep. This is another pattern that encourages us to leave behind the limits of common sense to pursue ideas and ambitions that may be impossible to reach. Yet stretching ourselves to see potential beyond present circumstances will provide motivation to aim higher. Whether it’s professional or personal ambition, this is a time to expect more from life.

In these complicated and often difficult times standing still is not the best option. Many of us seek shelter in the past, attempting to return to previous states of comfort that are, alas, behind us now. Yet with a dash of romance and inspiration we can see the shape of a better tomorrow that bold ideas and careful planning could turn into reality.
