Daily Cosmic Calendar for August 9th

[All times are calculated for the Pacific Daylight Zone. If you are living in a different time zone, add or subtract the necessary hours so that any timed alignment will be exact where you live.]  During every sequence of approximately 10 to 14 days, usually one 24-hour time-period is offered as nearly a vacation day by the cosmic powers-that-be. Today is one of those days when it is all right to stop worrying about many minor concerns and old problems.  Even though the Moon is in Virgo and there is a natural tendency to worry, Venus is on the rise — forming a parallel to radical-change agent Uranus (10:45AM), an inspirational, 72-degree rapport with benevolent Jupiter (just one minute later at 10:46AM), and its monthly union with the Moon (3:06PM). With Venus so strong, it is wise to realize that social urges, the creative arts and love bonds can be high on the agenda.  There is also a reason to let go of recent tensions as the Moon-Venus conjunction also begins a void-of-course lunar cycle that lasts until 6:09AM tomorrow when the Moon enters affable Libra. During this kind of void lunar cycle — containing the potent but heart-centered essence of Venusian charm and beauty — your ability to magnetically attract what you need for achievements in the fine and graphic arts is greatly enhanced.

Crystals

Crystals

A crystal is a body that is formed by the solidification of a chemical element, a compound, or a mixture of them, and has a regularly repeating internal arrangement of its atoms and often external plane faces. But it’s more than that. A crystal is one of the many bounties of the Earth’s crust. They are a powerful tool and correspond directly to the element of Earth, but also the Air, Fire and Water. Each crystal has it’s own vibration and thus each vibration corresponds to a correspondences such as healing, protection, relaxation etc. Because each crystal does have a vibration, a larger crystal is not any more powerful than a smaller one. A larger one might look better, but not everyone has the means for such a thing.

Several crystals have the same correspondences, but, to chose which one you want you must first have a look at all those crystals without touching them. See which one has an effect on you. Now, when the crystal has been chosen, or when the crystal has chosen you, you must individually have a look at the crystals, Separate the ones which you like from the ones you don’t like just by having a look at them. Then, pick up each crystal in you receptive hand, opposite to the power hand, so if you are right handed it’s your left hand, and close your hand into a gentle fist. Feel the crystals pulse, it should be like a gentle drum rhythm, it could be very fast, or slow. You will feel whether the crystal is right for you, or not. The crystals vibration will complement yours and act like a ‘lock and key’ to your aura in the sense that they will blend. The crystal will let you know if it is not for you.

A newly bought crystal should be cleansed. This could be as long as a whole moon phase, with elemental cleansings, or just a simple mental cleansing. Before buying that particular crystal, it would have been touched my many people, and been next to many people who might have been upset, angry, sad etc. So this may effect you. To cleanse, it could simply be a dip in salty water, being buried over night in the ground, gone through crystal cleansing incense (or frankincense, sandalwood or just about anything for that matter, maybe even a herbal blend for the crystals purpose), being placed on a bed of quartz crystal, being passed through a flame, fairly quickly, being brushed with a feather, being placed overnight in moon light, or sunlight. Be careful because some crystals fade or lose color from being held in the sun, some even disolve in water, or may react with the candle flame, so be careful.

Daily Cosmic Calendar for Monday, Aug. 5th

[All times are calculated for the Pacific Daylight Zone. If you are living in a different time zone, add or subtract the necessary hours so that any timed alignment will be exact where you live.]  If you are looking to test your mettle or go through a trial by fire, the next seven days should suffice.  Today begins somewhat innocently with a void lunar cycle in home-loving and family-oriented Cancer. This lasts until 9:59AM when the Moon enters Leo. Playing games and having child-like fun will keep you entertained. Delving into an art project, visiting a museum or gallery also fills the lunar mood with the Moon in the creative fifth sign of the zodiac. Romance could be beckoning as well as the Moon in Leo energizes the heart and stirs passions.  Meanwhile, ingenious ideas are illuminating the mind like fiery comets streaking through the night sky as Pallas makes a rare conjunction with Jupiter in Cancer (8:50PM). Hone your problem-solving skills and make the most of strategy sessions as this optimistic and mentally-expansive alignment occurs.  Even the next alignment — a potent Sun-Vesta union in Leo (9:20PM) — can prove rewarding as it has the capacity to increase the value of your assets and investments.  However, this entire 24-hour time-period is part of what is called the dark-of-the-moon monthly cycle which occurs right before a New Moon and which suggests the need to complete old projects with self-assurance. Therefore, the necessary traction and oomph to take any great leaps forward will have to wait until the Sun and Moon merge tomorrow and in the few days following.

Current Moon Phase for July 29th – Last Quarter Moon

Last Quarter Moon

(waning/90-45 degrees)

The time of reaping is at hand. There is a feeling of completion infused into the atmosphere during the Last Quarter Moon. The opportunity opens to recognize how far you’ve come in various parts of your life. This is not a good time for new beginnings, but rather a reflective period suited to evaluating how you have been using your time and what has been accomplished. Issues of authority may arise. This Moon phase supports taking responsibility for actively tying up the loose ends of projects that are already underway.

A Spell to Get Rid of Negative Energy or Spirit

A Spell to Get Rid of Negative Energy or Spirit

Items You need:

Sage, the herb (basil can be use as an substitute)

When To Cast:

During the Waning Moon

To cleanse a room, simply pass the smoke of the burning sage over the walls, into the corners, in the closets, and in any nooks and crannies where shadows–and energy–gather. Pass the smoke along the frames of the doors and windows. Let it eddy across the floor. This simple process is vital whenever something tragic, negative or emotionally wrenching has happened. It’s also beneficial if someone in your home is physically ill or feeling out of sorts. You don’t have to say anything or engage in any ritual. Simply hold the intent in your mind that you are cleaning the area of negative energy.

A sage wand is ideal for smudging. It doesn’t have to be relit, it’s easy to carry, and when you’re finished, you simply stub out the burning end so that it can be reused.

Gibbous Moon

(waning /70% illumination)

This is a tremendous time of transmutation. All of the prior elements are coming together for a final burst of creative output. You have seen a clear view of your own needs and the posture of significant others. Now the accumulation of that input is leading to a deep, core change within you. In this phase, you will naturally be inclined to seek higher guidance so that you can emerge from this transformation successfully. The Disseminting Moon favors sharing what you have learned (and are learning) with others.

Working with Lunar Cycles

Working with Lunar Cycles

Learn how the Moon’s phases can help manifest your dreams

Emily Trinkaus  Emily Trinkaus on the topics of moon, astrology

Working with the phases of the Moon is a simple, practical and effective way to apply Astrology in your everyday life. Just as the Moon influences the ocean’s tides, the Moon’s waxing and waning also reflects the rhythm of our own lives.

Paying attention to where the tides are flowing can help you synchronize with cosmic forces, allowing you to “go with the flow” and create successful outcomes with greater ease.

The monthly lunar cycle

The Moon completes one lunation cycle — from New Moon to Full Moon and back again — over the course of about one month (29 1/2 days to be exact). Each lunar cycle entails the birth, culmination and completion of something in our lives. What exactly this something is can be determined by looking at the sign of the New Moon and seeing where it’s happening in your birth chart.

Generally speaking, when the Moon is waxing — or when its light is increasing — you are opening to new possibilities and initiating new projects. This tends to be an action-oriented time of pursuing goals and making things happen. After the Full Moon, while the light is decreasing, it’s time to complete what you started and reflect upon what you’ve created.

The lunar cycle begins with the New Moon or Dark of the Moon, a deeply mystical time of the month when the external world recedes and your energy is drawn inward. Astrologically, the New Moon signifies the conjunction of the Sun and Moon as they occupy the same sign of the zodiac. The Moon appears to be invisible because it is eclipsed by the rays of the Sun. This is an excellent time to retreat and reflect upon what you want to create for the coming month. Meditate, get clear about your intentions, and for added power write a list of what you want to manifest.

How Moon phases affect you

Launch new projects and anything you want to increase in your life in the days following the New Moon (starting right on the New Moon is too early). About a week after the New Moon comes the First Quarter or Waxing Half Moon when, astrologically speaking, the Sun and Moon are forming a 90-degree angle or “square.” At this point you’re likely to encounter obstacles or challenges in moving forward with what you started. This is a time to reevaluate your course of action and determine whether to continue on or alter your path.

In the days approaching the Full Moon, you can feel the energy building and there’s an increase in activity. The Full Moon occurs about one week after the First Quarter Moon, but you can feel its influence for two days before and after the exact phase. The high energy stimulates great productivity and there’s a sense of things coming to culmination or fruition. Of course, as documented by police stations and emergency rooms, emotions are also running high — hence the words “lunatic” and “lunacy.”

With the Moon fully reflecting the Sun’s light, you begin to see the results of what you started at the New Moon. Astrologically, the Sun and Moon are now exactly opposite one another in the zodiac. This opposition can bring about new perspectives, breakthroughs and revelations. If you’re trying to remove something (or someone) from your life — old habits, weight, a relationship — it’s best to begin this process a day or two after the Full Moon.

Completing the lunar cycle

The Last Quarter Moon comes about a week after the Full Moon. Once again, the Sun and Moon are at a 90-degree angle. As the light decreases you feel drawn to focus your energy, concentrating on the task at hand in order to follow through on commitments. At this point you get the fruits of your labor — the end result of what you started about a month ago is now coming to completion.

During the final days of the cycle, as the Moon’s light recedes and loose ends are tied up, it’s time to go inward again and reflect upon your creations. “Being” rather than doing is appropriate during these dark nights, a time to rest and prepare for the next new beginning.

While every lunar cycle is different — depending on the sign of the New and Full Moon and other planetary influences — they all share a common pattern and rhythm. When you pay attention to and cooperate with the Moon’s phases, you’ll notice a big difference in how much more easily you’re able to create what you want. Experiment and discover the results for yourself!

Banishing spell

Banishing spell

To be performed during the waning moon

Tools:
heatproof container or cauldron
black or white candle
basil and garlic (for uncrossing, protection)
paper/black pen

Cast the circle
Invocation of the God and Goddess
Statement of purpose

I am here to banish negative influences from my life.
Right now, (name) is exerting an extremely negative force upon me.
I ask for the God and Goddess to assist me in banishing these forces
and eliminating his/her destructiveness.

Consecrate the cauldron as follows
sprinkle with salt water
recite:

In the name of the Lord and Lady I charge you to serve me within this circle.
I clear you of all former influences and energies that you may be fit
for the workings of Magick herein.

Do the same with the candle

On a piece of paper, write full name of person to be banished.
Roll up and tie with black string. Sprinkle with salt water and recite

Thou creature of paper.
By paper made, by paper changed.
Thou art not paper, but thou art negative influences in
(person to be bound).
So mote it be!

Light the black candle.
Burn the paper in the candle, visualizing all negative power over you
vanishing in the flames and rising out of your world with the smoke
Sprinkle basil and garlic over the flames and recite:

Blazing force of cleansing fire
Help me in this rite.
By air and earth,
water and fire
So be you bound
With this rite,
Your power takes flight
Sky and sea,
Keep harm from me
Cord go round,
Power be bound
Your negativity will no longer come my way.
From henceforth, your power over me is banished.
So Mote it Be!

Let paper burn itself out while visualizing a healthy, positive relationship
with the person

Cakes and Ale
Thanking the God and Goddess
Close the circle, thank the watchtowers for their protection

RITUAL MAGICK

RITUAL MAGICK

Ritual Magick could be said to be the halfway point between Ceremonial and Natural Magickal workings. It uses astrological alignments, colour correspondences, as well as moon phases and elements to achieve desired results. Singing and dancing are often used to help raise the energies, as well as drumming and trance-like states. Visualisation and incantations are used by the practitioner much the same as the Natural Magick practitioner, though elemental and astrological influences are taken into consideration. It may be performed by either individuals, or groups… as it is not as elaborate as Ceremonial Magick, though more complicated than Natural Magick. Because of the lesser complexities, it is not used for enlightment, but may be used to achieve mundane and spiritual results much the same as Nat

ural Magick. This genre of Magick can be classed within the same specifications as Ceremonial Magick- both are considered ‘high’ Magick, it does seem to be a meeting of both Ceremonial and Natural Magick.

NATURAL (OR ‘LOW’) MAGICK

 NATURAL (OR ‘LOW’) MAGICK

Once so called because it was the practise of those who worked and lived in the ‘lowlands’…people such as farmers who worked long hours during the day, and had little time to perform elaborate and complicated rituals and ceremonies. Nowadays, Natural Magick has its roots firmly placed in those days- using natural objects during the workings. This less formal genre of practise takes less time and does not need a magickal space or structure to achieve the desired results. Sometimes referred to as ‘folk’ magick, it seems to have a much more common sense approach to magickal workings. The practitioners of this use feathers, stones, gems, herbs, wood, the seasons of the year and moon phases, coupled with their own forces and energies to create and perform a spell. The desired results of such magickal workings can be mundane and simple as well as more spiritual and mental.

Any parts of animals used for the Magick are not procurred by sacrifice, but are things that can be found- such as feathers or bones that are visible on the surface of the ground. The pratise of Natural Magick perserveres to achieve harmony with nature, rather than connecting to the Divine, and is often called ‘the Magick of the Wiccans and Witches’. Visualisation and chanting (incantations or spells) is used in this form of Magick also.
