Daily Feng Shui News for Oct. 25th – ‘Tourmaline’

The birthstone most associated with October is the tourmaline. An old Egyptian legend tells how this stone, when making the trip from the heart of the earth up to the sun, traveled along a rainbow, collecting all the colors along the way. No matter the color, all tourmaline are said to increase self-confidence while neutralizing negative energies as well. Tourmaline is also believed to dispel fear, relieve grief and aid in concentration and communications. I think that you’ll agree that this surely is one precious gem!

Daily Feng Shui News for Oct. 23 – ‘TV Talk Show Host Day’

Here’s another day close to my own heart and ambitions. It’s ‘TV Talk Show Host Day’ and I’d like to share a Feng Shui cure that I enact whenever I want a host or producer to want to book me on their show. I will take an image of the host and on the back I will write the date that I want to be on their show in red ink. I then position that image in my ‘Fame’ area and every day I spend time visualizing how my guest appearance will go when I am called to be on the show. I even visualize how happy I will be after I hang up the line from the call. This has never failed to manifest some sort of media for me. Even it it’s not the original show I was hoping for, it’s always something better. Let’s call this one big dreams for the small screen.

Daily Feng Shui News for Oct. 21st – ‘Information Overload Day’

Coming right after yesterday’s ‘Information Overload Day’ is another day that suspects that you have your head in the clouds. It’s ‘National Clean Your Virtual Desktop Day’ and I’m sensing a clutter theme — in this case, tech clutter like unreturned emails and voice messages, undeleted texts and old bookmarks. All this clutter can have the same negative effect as physical clutter. Take some time today to clean up your virtual mess and you’ll feel much more confident and clear.

Daily Feng Shui News for Oct. 11 – ‘World Egg Day’

On ‘World Egg Day’ this might be just the information you need to change your luck and your life. Feng Shui says that you can shift a spate of bad luck to good simply by keeping a raw egg on your bed stand for three consecutive nights. After the third night dispose of it anywhere outside of your living space. If the shell of the egg cracks during these three days, dispose of the egg and start over again. The theory here is that the egg is absorbing negativity while cleansing your space. After three days you should be feeling sunny side up!

Daily Feng Shui News for Oct. 10th – ‘World Mental Health Day’

I often refer to using flower essence therapy because of its all-natural ability to purge negative attitudes and behaviors. On ‘World Mental Health Day’ I’d like to recommend using a specific flower essence that has been known to help heal minor depression. Of course and as always, remedies or therapies recommended in these tips should never take the place of proper diagnosis from a qualified physician. But if you suffer from constantly dwelling on your problems as opposed to focusing on the solutions, and have been discouraged by a series of setbacks, then Bach Gentian Flower Essence is for you! Gentian stimulates the adrenal glands while restoring meaning to life. This essence is attributed with also being able to restore faith in your own future. By the way, and just so you know, I have faith in you and your fabulous future.

Daily Feng Shui News for Oct. 7th – ‘Smiling’

Turn that frown upside down today because smiling comes with actually health benefits. Smiling is said to make you more attractive while also affecting an immediate lift to your spirits and mood. Smiling relieves stress while boosting your immune system and releasing natural pain-killers. And a smile is said to make you look younger, as it lifts the muscles in the face. Some studies suggest that smiling people appear more confident and successful while others say that a smile can actually help you to stay positive while relieving depression and stress. Like I said, turn that frown upside down today — you’ll be really happy you did.

Daily Feng Shui News for Oct. 3rd – ‘Virus Appreciation Day’

On ‘Virus Appreciation Day’ I can tell you that I turn to Sambucol whenever a virus is running rampant in our house. This amazing black elderberry extract can actually short-circuit both viral and cold/flu symptoms. Holistic expert and director of Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, Dr. Andrew Weill, says that ‘Sambucol is for treatment, not for prevention.’ But only the extract works to eliminate viruses, colds and flu, so put that bottle of elderberry wine away. But always keep a bottle of Elderberry Sambucol somewhere handy. Forget an apple a day — this will really keep the doctor away.

Daily Feng Shui News for Sept. 30 –

Let’s get dirty! It’s ‘National Mud Pack Day’ and I want to share a ‘secret’ recipe for making a facial mud pack at home. You’ll need three teaspoons of Fuller’s earth, two teaspoons of curd yogurt, a half-teaspoon of almond oil and three drops of rose water. Put the curd in a bowl and gradually stir in the Fuller’s earth. Pour the almond oil and rose water on top and mix all ingredients until they form a paste. Apply this mud mask to your face, wait twenty minutes and rinse it off with cool water. Mud puddles might make you feel like a kid again, but this all-natural facial pack will have you looking like one!

Feng Shui News for August 14th – 'Harvest Moon'

According to the Native American calendar, September is the time of the ‘harvest moon,’ or the period described as the ‘Moon of the Black Cherries. In fact, this month has many floral associations with the blackberry. When taken according to directions, Blackberry Flower Essence is believed to alter patterns or obstacles that are keeping you from achieving your most dearly held dreams. In fact, it is said that imbibing Blackberry Flower Essence can greatly assist you in manifesting whatever you want. The remedy goes on to promise that the person who can’t seem to get out of their own head (or their own way) could benefit from the positive results associated with this blackberry remedy. This is what Native Americans call ‘Moon Magic’ at its best.

Feng Shui News for Sept. 10th – 'Sapphire'

The birthstone of the month of September is the mystical, magical sapphire, long considered a powerful amulet by many different ancient traditions. It’s believed that wearing this gem close to the skin will bless the wearer with protection against the ‘evil eye’ while bringing comfort and courage as well. This stone strengthens memory, arouses inspiration and protects against envy. But my favorite information attached to the sapphire is that even if it gets lost, stolen or sold, it still continues to bring blessings to the original owner. And, true to its name, the stellar sapphire is believed to bring success. So whether your birthday is this month or not, you can still take advantage of the high vibes attached to a super stellar stone.

Feng Shui News for Sept. 8 – 'National Grandparent's Day'

On ‘National Grandparent’s Day’ you can honor them whether they’re still with you or not. Just put a picture of your grandparents in a wooden frame and place it in the Feng Shui ‘Family/Friends/Ancestors’ area (center or middle of the left-hand wall on the living space.) Wood is the element associated with these ancestor energies (think family tree or roots) and green is said to activate excellent energies as well. So light a green candle and say a prayer for your grandparents and remember that they’re most likely saying special prayers for you too!

Feng Shui For Sept. 4 – 'Mallow'

According to Feng Shui the plant most associated with the month of September is the mallow. Its medicinal properties have been extolled since ancient times and are still used today, most especially for relieving the mucous membrane lining the upper respiratory system during a cold. So the next time you feel the sniffles coming on, reach for the mallow and watch that cough and cold simply disappear.

Daily Feng Shui News for Sept. 3rd – 'Skyscraper Day'

‘Skyscraper Day’ brings up a Feng Shui cure for your living space, especially if you’re sandwiched between two taller structures. The smaller space in the center is often seen as a place that isn’t able to attract healthy, happy and prosperous Chi since the taller buildings around it block that high vibe. One way to correct this conundrum is to position a mirror, reflective side up, on the roof of your building. The mirror will symbolically reflect the height of the surrounding structures, bringing your building up with the big boys. Now everyone will get their fair share of the high vibe and be healthy, happy and prosperous too.

Feng Shui Tip for August. 26: 'National Dog Day'

How apropos that ‘National Dog Day’ falls during the traditional dog days of summer. If you suspect that Fido is overheated, don’t immerse him in cold water. The water trapped in the haircoat will warm and act as insulation against the cooling intent, actually working in reverse. Rather, station him in front of a fan and mist him with ice cold water. Do this briefly and then stop all cooling efforts — the process continues even after you stop. I cannot emphasize this enough. A very brief effort is all it takes to get a dog’s temperature down. Obviously, the best way to prevent overheating is to keep Spot in a controlled and cool environment. You’ll be the coolest owner around if you just do that.

Daily Feng Shui for February 20th – ‘Love Your Pet Day!’

This ‘Love Your Pet Day’ is made for man’s best friends, and the best way to do that is to share some Pet Shui! One sure way to make your furry friends happy is to make sure that they’re always clean and smelling good. An easy way to affect that rewarding result is to place their bed (or cage, whatever the case may be) outside where fresh air and sunshine will infuse it with healthy and happy Chi. This will not only lift the spirits of your pet but will raise the entire vibe of the whole house as well!

Feng Shui Tip for Sunday, Feb. 17th – ‘World Human Spirit Day’

It’s seems fitting on ‘World Human Spirit Day’ that I share a powerful way to energize your spirit. Both Feng Shui and vibrational healers agree that the healing color of green can cleanse and rejuvenate your Chi while raising your spirits as well. Close your eyes and imagine your entire body surrounded by a ball of clear green light. As you inhale, breathe in this light and visualize it circulating all throughout your body. When you breathe out, exhale toxins, imbalances and impurities along with anger, rage and fear. Repeat this exercise six times to make your spirit refreshed, revivified and restored. The ripple effect guarantees that you will uplift the entire world.

Daily Feng Shui Tip for Feb. 14th – ‘Happy Valentine’s Day and World Marriage Day!’

Happy Valentine’s Day and World Marriage Day! Whether you’ve recently entered a new relationship, are currently in one or hoping to find the perfect partner, you can change your love life by changing your sheets. Feng Shui considers red to be a powerful and auspicious color that will add sizzle, passion, heat and a new mate (if that’s something you’re hoping for). Just be sure not to use them every day as all that sexual energy will make it hard to get some sleep.

Single on Valentine’s Day? No Worries

Single on Valentine’s Day? No Worries

Celebrate yourself on this day of love

Sally Philips   Sally Philips on the topics of valentines day, love, astrology
Have you been dreading Valentine’s Day? Well, get over it! Cupid wants you to celebrate love in all of its manifestations, not just the romantic variety. As a single person, you have energy for loving friendships (which you might not have time for if you were part of a couple), so you have much to be grateful for.

Here are some tips for how each zodiac sign can use Valentine’s Day to affirm that a partner isn’t necessary when it comes to celebrating love — and a few suggestions for attracting a date as well!

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

If you’re single and loving it, more power to you … but if want to find a partner, try making this holiday your Valentine’s New Year. Write resolutions about new ways you can reach out while having fun in the coming year. Get psyched up and create a positive attitude. The world is your romantic oyster!

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

You could use some pampering on this special day, so take yourself to a spa to enjoy a head-to-toe beauty treatment, massage or soak in a hot tub. Be your own best date by treating yourself to whatever sensual delights tickle your fancy. Invite a close friend along and indulge together.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

If you get the urge to call your friends and whine about your single status, go ahead. Get chatty and vent all you want … but whatever you do, resist the temptation to ring up your ex or that hottie you’ve got your eye on. Wait for another day to make those calls, when your emotions aren’t so volatile.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

You’re one of the world’s biggest romantics, so don’t let being single stop you from celebrating love. Arrange a gift or card exchange in your circle of friends and invite them over for a Valentine’s party. Bake cookies and deck out the house in red hearts and candlelight. Declare a toast to the loving friendships that sustain you.

Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22)

Okay, Leo, you may not have a date this year, but you can still spread some cheer. Offer to babysit your friends’ kids. Parents of young children often have trouble finding time for romance in their busy lives, so help them out. You won’t be alone, and you’ll have fun playing with their kiddos.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22)

This is going to sound crazy, but this might be the perfect day to clean and reorganize your space. De-cluttering improves Feng Shui, which creates chi (vital energy) that can help attract more magic into your life. If you’re looking for a relationship, enhance the southwest sector of your bedroom with gemstones, crystals and candles.

Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22)

Being single isn’t easy for you, Libra. If you’re feeling sorry for yourself, here’s a sure-fire way to cheer up: help someone less fortunate than yourself. Seniors are often lonely, and not just on Valentine’s Day, so see if you can volunteer at a senior center in your neighborhood. Or, look for a church or non-profit group that could use your help.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21)

You love intrigue and the little white lies behind it, so find an online florist and order a bouquet of flowers to be sent to you at your workplace. Or have a local candy store deliver a big box of chocolates. Sign the card “From Your Secret Admirer.” The water cooler gossip will keep you amused all day.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

Recharge your batteries by taking a short trip. It doesn’t have to be elaborate. Just getting on a bus and heading to some new part of town can do the trick. Or, try this with a friend: get in your car, start driving, toss a coin at every corner and turn left (for tails) or right (for heads) accordingly. After a few tosses, have dinner wherever you end up.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)

You’ve already got a handle on creating attractive energy that draws people to you. Your flair for success is irresistible. Now’s a great time to share some of the fruits of that success by treating your friends to a special event. Look for a movie, concert, comedy club or theater production you know they will enjoy.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)

Okay, so you’ve figured out that Valentine’s Day is a plot by flower shops and greeting card companies to bump up their post-Christmas sales. If you’re part of this “bah humbug” group, gather your like-minded friends and have a Valentine’s Scrooge party. Give a prize to the guest who brings the snarkiest card.

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20)

Today is the day to amplify the compassionate traits you are known and loved for. Reach out to a friend or family member who needs an open ear. As you listen, offer your support and help them find their way back to a more cosmic perspective. This comes naturally to you, but it isn’t always so easy for others.

Feng Shui News for Feb. 12 – ‘Extraterrestrial Visitor Day’ and ‘Extraterrestrial Culture Day’

When I saw that today is both ‘Extraterrestrial Visitor Day’ and ‘Extraterrestrial Culture Day’ I immediately thought of one of modern culture’s most famous taglines: ‘E.T. phone home.’ That thought prompts me to share this Feng Shui ‘Phone Cure.’ If you want your telephone to ring with new clients and opportunities, place your phone on a round or octagonal mirror that is sitting on a piece of red cloth the same shape and size as the mirror. Then place symbols of the twelve Chinese zodiac animals in a circular design underneath the phone. Leave the phone sitting on this ‘cure’ for at least three consecutive hours in order to recharge it with good fortune. Don’t ask for whom that bell tolls, it tolls for you!

Feng Shui Tip for February 11th – ‘Clean Out Your Computer Day’

According to Feng Shui, clutter is the enemy, and not just those musty old objects you’ve been collecting for years. Cyber clutter can be just as chaotic and damaging to the flow of good Chi, so on this ‘Clean Out Your Computer Day’ I encourage you to do just that. Clear out or answer old email before deleting or filing them away. Remove old files that are taking up space and literally clean the computer equipment itself. Lastly, position or hang a clear quartz crystal somewhere in the vicinity of the computer and see how quickly clarity and clear-headed thinking come back to rule the day.
