July 2, 2024 Current Moon Phase for the Northern Hemisphere

Source: nineplanets.org

Northern Hemisphere

July 3, 2024

The current moon phase for today is the Waning Crescent phase.

On this day, the moon is 26.82 days old and 8.62% illuminated with a tilt of -49.339°. The approximate distance from Earth to the moon is 377,784.92 km and the moon sign is Gemini.

The Moon phase for today is a Waning Crescent phase. This is the phase where the moon is less than 50% illuminated but has not yet reached 0% illumination (which would be a New Moon).

In this part of the moon cycle, it is getting closer and closer to the Sun as viewed from Earth and the night side of the Moon is facing earth with a decreasingly thin crescent being illuminated.

The waning (shrinking) crescement Moon will rise at around midnight, transit the meridian after sunrise, before setting after noon. This phase is best viewed 1-2 hours before sunrise and is a great time to see the features of the Moon’s surface. Along the illuminated crescent you can see the craters and mountains of the moon casting long shadows.

The Waxing Gibbous phase, like all moon phases, will last for just over 7 days. The actual length will vary because of the elliptical shaped orbit of the moon. During this Waxing Gibbous phase the moon will rise in the east in the mid- to late-afternoon and will be high in the eastern sky at sunset.

Assuming it’s a clear night, the Waxing Gibbous moon will then be visible through most of the night before setting just before sunrise.

Fun fact: the illuminated side of a waning crescent moon is always pointed eastwards, towards the sunrise.

Bad but Goodish Day

I apologize for not getting today’s and monthly posts up today. My plan was finish mowing our approximately ¼ acre of yard but after having 2 bad asthma attacked I had to quit. I have been down the rest of the day because of vertigo and a hard time breathing. I push myself, we’ll push is to strong of a word. Let’s say I talk myself into doing more yard work when grass, trees, mold and other allergens  are higher than is good for me to still toil outside.

Why do I do this?

I get re-engerized quicker when closely interacting with Mother Earth and can feel Ra’s energy filling me up. When filled by this God and Goddess, I will go out at night to ask Luna to impart the wisdom need I need to be a better human, mother, grandmother, wife, friend, and high priestess.

After a day and evening spent with these three deities I work with daily and leaving each an offering with my humble thanks for their help I make sure to have offerings for Kwan Yin and Sirona to thank them for helping me not to hurt as much the next day. I also make and offering to thank Lord Genish for enough income so we can take care of all the things we have to with some leftover for fun.

I was reminded by a very dear friend about 10-12 years ago to say prayer in the morning welcoming the deities I will be working with during that day and to thank them for their help that day. Which I do try to follow daily, but sometimes I am too busy and forget to welcome them the same as forgetting to thank them at night. I need to try setting the same time every morning and evening to ask for help and give them thanks for that help.

The really good part of today is Big Dawg and I finally got our rider mower running. It took us I think 5-7 days 2-5 hours each time to get it running. One more piece to buy, the air filter, hopefully tomorrow and it should be good to go!

I will be back tomorrow to get most of the regular daily posts done and the monthly posts also.

All Signs

This week Canadians will celebrate July 1st and Americans will celebrate July 4th. Fortunately, it’s a great week to socialize and strengthen bonds between friends and family members. (It really is. I’m not saying this to sound patriotic.) Here’s the backdrop for these events: We have the Sun and Venus in warm, sensitive Cancer (who can’t throw anything away). Curious Mercury is in Leo, which will lend high drama to our conversations and daily antics. (“OMG! You had to be there!”) Meanwhile, fiery Mars is in Taurus, promoting eating good food – (too much, actually. Especially, that high-end Praline ice cream.) Of course, Jupiter is in Gemini for the next year and Saturn has one more year left in Pisces. Read on to see what’s in store for you. “Th-th-the, th-th-the, the.. That’s all folks!”

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Home and family are your strong focus this week, especially with a parent. You might redecorate and entertain. Family discussions will be about financial matters, perhaps about real estate or real-estate speculation? In fact, your considerations regarding spending money right now are surprisingly sober and conservative because you want guaranteed results for your efforts. You especially want to protect what you have. This is why before you act, you will be patient enough to do some careful planning. You will pay attention to details and make decisions that allow you to work patiently towards goals that will be fulfilled in the future. Oh yeah, you know what you’re doing.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

This is a busy, social week! Your pace will be fast and filled with short trips, errands, appointments and conversations with neighbours, friends and family members. You’ll be on the go! Fortunately, fiery Mars is in your sign boosting your energy. (This blessing comes along only once every two years for about six weeks so be grateful. In fact, Mars will with you for three more weeks! Vroom, vroom!) One nice thing about this week is life will be agreeable for you. Your dealings with others will be pleasant and light. You might discover there is more love in your world than you had thought. You’ll also enjoy the beauty in your everyday surroundings. Sweet!

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Life is good with lucky Jupiter in your sign for the first time in 12 years. This week the Sun and fair Venus are in your Money House, which turns your mind to cash flow and earnings; money in, money out; and probably, you want to buy something special. (Venus in your Money House will heighten your interest in beautiful clothes, jewelry, art objects plus, entertainment. “More bubby! Let’s live it up!”) Having said that, this same impulse will be tempered by the fact that Venus is lined up with Saturn, so these purchases will be probably be long-lasting and relatively practical. It’s a great week to learn and study something new; plus, you’re keen to talk to everyone. Lookin’ swell!

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

With the Sun in your sign, you’re in the driver’s seat. You’re ready to take charge, which you will do with diplomacy and charm because Venus is also in your sign. Mercury will promote moneymaking ideas and draw attention to what you really value in life – be it material, intellectual or spiritual. Mercury might make you shop more than usual. It will also encourage financial planning, which is not surprising because you are never casual about money. (You’re a saver.) Mars will pump your energy and your ego as you deal with groups this week. Work with others and look for a win/win solution. If conflict arises, use sports and physical activity to blow off pent-up steam.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

This week Mercury is in your sign, making you keen to express your views to the world. Fortunately, people will listen because you will put a great deal of yourself into what you say. Naturally, your mind will be busy jumping from issue to issue very rapidly. Get out and take short trips to shake things up. Your capacity to learn is strong now, so do yourself a favour and sign up for a course or decide to learn something or study a new subject because you’ll enjoy this. Meanwhile, Mars at the top of your chart arouses your ambition, urging you to get things done! That’s nice because the results will please you and make your life easier.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

This is a popular week! Enjoy schmoozing with others, especially creative artists. An older acquaintance might introduce you to someone you find attractive in a romantic way. You might also make travel plans with someone or explore higher education, publishing or something to do with medical or legal matters. Many opportunities are available for you right now because with Jupiter at the top of your chart (for the first time in 12 years), you’re experiencing a time of success! In the next 12 months, you can expect a promotion at work or some kind of public recognition or an award because you’re admired and acknowledged. (About time!)

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

This week you’re thinking about your career, your role in society, and your reputation in your community. You might wonder if you’re going in the direction you want to go? Meanwhile, people notice you now and they admire you. They’re impressed by you, which is why you might be asked to take on increased responsibilities or given power in some way. Don’t worry you can handle this. Meanwhile, romance is favoured, especially with someone older or more established. This is also a good time for practical discussions about how to deal with wills, inheritances and shared property. A younger friend might have interesting input.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Get thee to an airport or jump in the car and start watching those telephone poles going by because you need a change of scenery! If you can’t travel, be a tourist in your own city. The bottom line is that you need to do something different from your normal routine. New mental activity! Stimulation and adventure! It’s a wonderful time to learn something new. However, publishing, writing and any involvement with the law or even medicine might also occur at this time. A new romance with someone who is “different” might also occur. Woot! Discussions with partners and close friends about practical issues, especially related to kids, are likely to happen. Lots to think about.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You can attract money and practical assistance as well as favours from others this week. You might also take a hard look at jointly-held property and anything that you share or own with someone else, including getting a loan. Very likely, assistance will come from an older family member, and in turn, it might benefit your home and family. Certainly, you’re working hard now because you want specific useful results. Despite this practical and financial focus, travel plans definitely appeal! (You know who you are.) Meanwhile, your closest relationships are warm and supportive right now. That’s a blessing.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Many of you are making amazing strides with your health and with your job now. In other words, you’re getting recognition about your work or you’re feeling a greater sense of accomplishment and personal reward connected with your work. If this is not the case, do be aware that you can get a better job this year. Don’t settle for less. This is also an excellent week to practice a skill or hone a technique, perhaps with a musical instrument or in the arts or in sports. This is a strong week for you because serious discussions and focused effort will allow you to accomplish something; and you will like this. Serious discussions about relationships will go well. It’s a solid week.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

This week is about your work or your job; or your health; or a pet. These are what hold your attention. Certainly, if you make an effort right now to tackle that To Do list, you will derive considerable satisfaction from doing things well. (This is good to know.) In fact, a work-related romance might spring up for some of you, perhaps with someone of an age difference. Meanwhile, start to get serious about vacation plans this year (or next), especially if you can include your kids because this is a great year to improve your relationship with your kids. Romance is favoured along with social outings, the arts and sports! (All that fun stuff.) Yay! This is what awaits you – get busy making things happen.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Go after what you want this week. Do things that you find entertaining. Get out and have fun. Be open to flirtations and budding romance. That’s because all these exciting possibilities are waiting for you but you will have to get out of bed. In fact, romance with someone of an age difference is highly likely right now. You might even make the first move? This is because you’re a bit strident in your discussions with others while Mars in your House of Communications. Nevertheless, this is also an excellent time for mental work because you will be more attentive to details and you’ll want everything to be as perfect as possible. You will enjoy planning and having discussions with coworkers. It will please you if your life starts getting more tickety-boo!

The waning (shrinking) gibbous Moon will rise after sunset in the east, transit the meridian after midnight, before setting after sunrise in the west.

During this phase, the illumination of the moon will go down from 99.% to 50.1%. Technically, the phase starts as soon as the Full Moon has passed, but it can be difficult to calculate and differentiate the first stage of a Waning Gibbous Moon from a Full Moon when 98-99% of the Moon’s surface is illuminated.

The Last Quarter phase comes roughly 3 weeks after the New Moon and this is when the moon has completed three quarters of its orbit around the Earth (hence the name, Last Quarter). The moon will rise around midnight on the eastern horizon, transits the meridian at sunrise, before setting at noon in the west.

The Last Quarter of the moon phase cycle happens on one day. It’s followed by the intermediate phase, Waning Crescent, and will become less illuminated every day until it reaches the New Moon phase.

The Moon phase for June 21st, 2024 is a Waxing Gibbous phase. This is the phase where the moon is more than 50% illuminated but has not yet reached 100% illumination (which would be a Full Moon).

In the Northern Hemisphere, the right side will be illuminated, and in the Southern hemisphere it’ll be the left side that is illuminated.

Fun fact: the word Gibbous was first used in the 14th century and comes from the latin word gibbosus which means humpbacked.

Some of the Witchcraft/Magickal Correspondence and More for the Summer Solstice/Litha

Summer Solstice/Litha from thepeculiarbrunette.com

Each season and celebration has its vibe and energy, and Litha and the Summer Solstice are no different! It’s got a punch of power and symbolism, and all we need to do is slow down and observe what Nature is showing us.

Please note that I make every effort to ensure this information is correct and accurate through my own experiences and referencing sources throughout AND at the bottom of this article.

Many Pagans, Witches, and those interested in Nature Spirituality celebrate the seasonal cycles. Sometimes referred to as the Wheel of the Year, and consisting of eight celebrations. Four of these festivals (Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh, and Samhain) are rooted in Celtic history and origins.

The other four (Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Autumn Equinox, and Winter Solstice) represent the sun’s location. I created a complete guide to each season, including history, traditions, symbols, correspondences, ritual ideas, and how you can celebrate.

Associated with the planet Mars

Zodiac sSgns of both Aries and Scorpio, and although Scorpio is a water sign,

Elemental correspondence of Fire.

All of these factors lead to a favorable time for energy work, creativity, justice work, spells for assertion—even to the extent of aggression. This would be a great day for any social justice advocacy spells, or even a baneful working if the need calls for it. Also, summoning courage, strength and passion for yourself or someone else would be favorable on this day.

Color orange for any candle magick.

Gods/Goddesses: Mars, the God of War, gives this day that added confrontational vibe. He is a god who takes no crap from anyone. Channeling him to help you tap into the assertive aspect of yourself will be helpful, especially if you are a person who struggles with implementing boundaries.

Merry meet dear Sisters, Brothers, and Honored Guests, Welcome to WOTC! A Thought for Today

“Good morning Tuesday! My promise to myself today is to not stress out about the little things.” – Elise Bouchard

I apologize for being absent for a few days I have not been doing well physically or emotionally. I am starting to come out of the depression I fell into because of two major falls in a week and could barely get around the house. Anyway, I am healing, and I thank all of you who even unknowingly helped me to get back to work on a limited basis today. Please bear with me if I cannot do all the regular daily posts until next week. I will be catching up the birthday horoscopes today. I will also post somethings for the northern hemisphere Litha/Summer Solstice and for the southern hemisphere Yule/Winter Solstice.

If you want to see some information on any tradition of witchcraft, please put it in the comment section. I will try to find some information to post about it.

May your and your family’s lives be filled with all things positive!

Blessed be.
