Monthly Tarot Card Forecast: July 2015

Find out what this month’s 3-card Tarot reading means for you!

Hi, I’m Brigit Esselmont, professional Tarot reader and teacher, and I’m here to share with you today the Tarot Card Forecast for July 2015. Now as always I’ve drawn three cards for this month ahead, and the first card is around blessings, the second card is around the challenges for the month, and the third card is kind of like a recommendation for what you can do to make this a fabulous, fabulous month. So let’s get into it…

Blessings Card: Three of Wands, Reversed

We start with the Three of Wands Reversed as our Blessing. Now, when we look at this card upright we can see this man and he’s standing on a hill and he’s looking out across the ocean where he’s seeing some ships passing by and there’s another land far, far away. And, to me this is a card about: one, kind of like expanding new horizons, but two, thinking about what comes next. What’s next in your journey? Where will your travels take you next?

And certainly when we look at the Three of Wands but in the reversed position, we know that this card is about looking to expand your horizons, but on a more personal and private level, hence the reversal of this card. So the blessing here in the month of July is that you’ve got the opportunity here to re-evaluate and reassess your own personal goals, and particularly on the level of your spiritual goals or your personal development goals — that’s certainly captured in this being a reversed card, and the Wands. So I really do encourage you this month to really think about:

  • Where is it that I’m heading?
  • Is this right for me?
  • Are my goals truly aligned to what I know of my soul’s purpose?

Now you might get to a point where you go, “Oh my goodness you know what? I was heading on this path, but now I realize that in fact I need to be heading on this path, and maybe I’ve just taken the wrong turn, and the last few months have been a complete waste of time.” I really want you to know this, that it’s not a waste of time. In fact, you are exactly where you need to be. That’s the really important thing to think about here. So even though you might need to take a slight change in direction, it’s all meant to be, that’s just the way it’s meant to be. And so, I really encourage you to feel OK about changing your path and changing your direction with that card. Now let’s have a look at our Challenges for this month…

Challenges Card: Five of Wands

And we’ve got the Five of Wands. Now if you have a look at this card you’ll notice that there are five people clashing and fighting. Now, this is clearly a card of conflict, tension, disagreement, and so on. So, I’m so sorry but I think for the month of July, it’s likely that you’re going to find yourself in a position where you disagree with the opinions of other people, and things can get a little bit heated. So you might find yourself in a couple of arguments, surrounded by conflict, rubbing people the wrong way… Some of this is a bit out of your control; you know sometimes there are folks out there who will just get upset no matter what you say. But if you find that there’s a way for you to find more of a compromise, I suppose, then I really do encourage you to take it.

Because I think tempers can easily get pushed over the edge this month, and people will seem to be getting a little bit protective of their thoughts and opinions, so the more that you can take a more peaceful approach, the better. So just watch out for those potential conflicts and tension, and see how you can make the most of it by bringing about peace and calm. And just remember: diversity in opinion is OK, but it’s about creating a constructive environment for that to happen in. So, make sure you’re the bigger person and you’re creating that very constructive environment.

Recommendation Card: Death

Now our last card is about what we can do this month in order to manifest the goals that we truly desire. And I’ve drawn the Death card. Now, I know there are probably some of you looking at this going, “Oh my goodness, what does that mean? The Death card, that sounds terrible…” Trust me, this card is OK. It doesn’t have to be a scary card. In fact the Death card is all about change and transformation. So as you’re looking to this month ahead, think about:

  • What are some of the layers I can let go of this month?
  • What is no longer serving me?
  • What new things can I allow to come forth?

And I think this is a really lovely card to look at against the Three of Wands Reversed. The reason for this is remember with the Three of Wands Reversed, we may be reassessing our goals, and reassessing our path, and I want you to know that with the Death card, that that’s OK. In fact, that’s actually a really good thing if you’re saying, “I’ve been following this path for a while, but I know that it’s no longer really fitting into where I really want to head in my life, and so I’m going to shed that skin.” And that’s OK. That’s a good thing. That’s what’s going to create an amazing, fabulous month for you — if you can let go of what’s not serving you.

And certainly with the Death card, it’s also a sign that change is coming through whether you like it or not. And we can choose how to respond to change. We can choose to resist it and go, “Oh I don’t know, I like everything that’s set,” or we can say, “Yeah, change is as good as a holiday. I can deal with change.” So I really encourage you to embrace the positive aspects of change this month and look for opportunities to create transformation, particularly as it relates to your goals and your personal spiritual goals this month.

So, with that, I wish you the very best for this month ahead. I hope you have an absolute gorgeous month, and I look forward to connecting with you again very soon.

The WItches Magick for the 3rd Day of the Mead Moon – Over the Moon Spell

Witchy Comments

 Over the Moon Spell

Most everyone is familiar with the nursery rhyme: “Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon; the little dog laughed to see such sport, and the dish ran away with the spoon.” Cast this spell to empower your bond with your pet.

For this spell, you will need your cat or dog, lavender essential oil, and a few drops of lemon juice.

After dark, sit with your pet so you can see the night sky. Say the nursery rhyme to your cat or dog. Sit quietly together for a few minutes. Rub behind his or her ears. Tell your pet how much she or he means to you, how much your pet is appreciated. Say three times:

Blessed be [say your pet’s name]
Thank you for your loving company.

Now, pour a few drops of lavender essential oil and a few drops of lemon juice into your hand, and rub it onto your cat’s or dog’s fur. Don’t get this mixture near your pet’s head, mouth, nose, or eyes. As you rub, say quickly (because your pet will take off like a rocket once she or he gets scent of the lavender oil:

May the God and Goddess protect and bless you always!

WOTC Extra (b) – The Divine Masculine

Witchy CommentsThe Divine Masculine

The feminine is not complete without the masculine; together, these energetic polarities form a whole. Before the re-emergence of Goddess-centered spirituality, only the male divinity’s face was present in most parts of the world. Some Wiccans and Witches concentrate on the Divine Feminine. Others, however, believe that the Divine expresses as both male and female.

Witches often depict the Divine Masculine as having three faces, which represent the stages of a man’s life: youth, maturity, and old age. However, Witches aren’t the only ones who envision a tripart God. Christians honor the male trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In the Hindu religion, Brahma represents the creative principle of God, Vishnu is considered the preserver, and Shiva is the destroyer. Although the cultural aspects of these deities may differ, they still recognize the tripart expression of the masculine force.

WOTC Extra (a) – The Divine Feminine

Witchy Comments The Divine Feminine

Many Wiccans believe that the Divine is both feminine and masculine, so they venerate the Goddess and God. The Goddess is symbolized by Mother Earth. Concern for the environment and “green” practices demonstrate respect for the Goddess, who is manifest in all of nature. It’s no accident that movements honoring the Earth and the Goddess evolved simultaneously. Indeed, many Witches believe that unless Goddess energy reawakens within each of us and in the world as a whole, the planet may be destroyed.

Witches often depict the Goddess in three stages that represent the three phases of a woman’s life: maiden, mother, and crone. Celtic art illustrates this tripart nature as three interlocking pointed loops called vesica piscis, which symbolize the opening to the womb. Others show the feminine trinity as three phases of the moon: waxing, waning, and full.

Let’s Talk Witch – Honoring and Invoking Deities

Witchy CommentsHonoring and Invoking Deities

Many witches believe that divine assistance is always available to you and that Gods and Goddesses gladly offer their guidance, help, and energy to humans to use for positive purposes. Some view divine beings as higher aspects of human consciousness, which can be accessed and activated through magickal means.

Ask First!

If you want to connect with a particular entity, first ask that god or goddess to listen to your request and come to your aid. One theory states that deities will not interfere with your own free will— you must ask them sincerely for help.

If you aren’t used to considering a divine being as a partner in your spiritual and practical pursuits, you may wonder how to go about petitioning your favorite god or goddess for assistance. Here are a few suggestions:

Make an offering of some sort to the deity. Burning incense is a popular offering, although you may wish to choose an offering that more specifically corresponds to the nature of the deity whose help you seek.

Place a figurine of the chosen deity on your altar and focus your attention on it.

Use an oracle, such as tarot cards or runes, to access divine wisdom and open your mind to messages from the deities.

Pray.

Meditate.

Light a candle in honor of the deity you wish to petition.

Design and perform a ritual to the deity.

Write your request on a slip of paper, then burn it.

Choose a crystal or gemstone that relates to the deity. Carry the stone in your pocket and touch it periodically.

Plant herbs or flowers in honor of the god or goddess. Choose plants that correspond to the deity’s nature and your intent, such as roses for love or mint for prosperity.

Friday & The Perfect Corresponding Spell – The Apples/Strawberries and Roses Fertility Spell

Witchy CommentsFriday & The Perfect Corresponding Spell

For many, Friday is the last work day of the week. It’s considered the fifth day of the work week and, also, the “cut loose” day. By Friday night, people are out having a party. That makes Friday the perfect day for lust, banish, fast-grant, and find spells . This day is so powerful (energy wise). That’s why whatever you do on this day will, usually, have a strong effect. If you want things out of your life, the darkness and power, associated with this day, bring the energy you need for that. If you need strong, immediate results, this is your day, as well.

The Apples/Strawberries and Roses Fertility Spell

Thinking about increasing your family or perhaps starting one? Call on the goddesses Aphrodite, Freya, or Frigga for a little assistance. These ladies can help you achieve your goal of a successful pregnancy and a safe delivery.

For this spell, you will need two ripe apples, one for you to snack on and the other for your partner. If you do not care for apples, then try strawberries. Strawberries are sacred to Freya, and let’s face it—ripe, fresh, deeply red strawberries are a sexy food. (If you choose to go with strawberries, then adjust the spell’s opening line accordingly.) You will also need a fresh red rose in a vase to symbolize your love for each other. If you choose, you may add a few rose pink candles to this spell for some atmosphere. How about scattering some fresh rose petals on the sheets? Listen to some music, break out the sexy lingerie, open up a little sparkling apple cider … and have a little fun. You know what sets a romantic mood for the two of you, so follow your instincts. For best results, work this fertility spell on a Friday during a waxing moon. You may say this charm together, silently or aloud:

Symbols of the Goddess, apples/berries and a rose of red
We call for fruitfulness to follow us now to bed
A rose pink candle for love and to increase our fertility
We call on Aphrodite, Freya, and Frigga to hear our plea
Love and pleasure are their rituals, this much is true
Goddesses, bless us with a child, make us parents soon.

Afterwards, allow the candles to go out on their own. Keep the rose in the vase until it starts to fade, then return to faded flower to nature by adding it to a compost pile or the recyclable yard waste. Gather up any rose petals from the sheets and let them dry out, then store them away and save them for other spells. (Goddess knows you have just imbued them with a lot of energy and magick).

Seasons of the Witch – Legends and Lore, Ancient Holidays And Some Not So Ancient!

Witchy CommentsSeasons of the Witch – Legends and Lore, Ancient Holidays And Some Not So Ancient!

Today Is …

Festival of Cerridwen. Invoke Her tonight and ask Her for creative solutions to problems and how to manifest those solutions. The potent nature of her brew has, today, transformed Cerridwen, in some eyes, into a Goddess of fertility, creativity, harvest, inspiration, knowledge and luck. The pink or white sow, a symbol of fertility, good fortune and enrichment, is said to be her matron animal.

The New Year of the Seminole Indian tribe of Florida begins on this date, and is celebrated with an annual Green Corn Dance honoring the new corn crop.

In Italy, this day is sacred to the Witch of Gaeta; in Greece, the Goddess Athena is honor is celebrated on July 3rd,

Cherokee Green Corn Dance. This annual ritual is also performed by other tribes, including the Seminoles. The 4-day festival is a New Year celebration in thanksgiving for the maize harvest, honoring the maize Goddess Selu.

Northern Hemisphere: The Dog Days, ruled by the Dog Star, Sirius, begin today. This is considered the hottest part of the year by people who haven’t been to Texas.

Greek: The third day of each month is sacred to the Goddess Athena.

– Spirits of the Mountains Ceremony, an Apache tradition.

– Sun Dance honoring the Great God Who Lives in Sun’s Fires, a rite of the Ute Tribe of Utah and Colorado.

Greek: The fourth day of every month is sacred to the Goddess Aphrodite and the God Hermes.

U.S. Independence Day. On this day, the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, the official “birth” of the United States is celebrated by Pagans and non-Pagans alike. On this day, many patriotic American Wiccans honor and give thanks to Lady Liberty, and perform magickal spells and rituals for the benefit of the country.

Day of Pax. On this day in ancient times, Pax (a Roman Goddess of Peace and Harmony, identified with the Greek Goddess Concordia) was honored with feasting and revelry.

Also on this day, the spirits of the mountains are honored by the Mescalero Apache Gahan Ceremonial, while the Great God who dwells within the fire of the Sun is paid homage to by the Ute Indian tribe of Utah and Colorado, who perform an annual Sun Dance.

July 4-U.S. Independence Day. Celebrate ways you are independent.

July 5-Sun Dance Festival. Go to the beach and make solar mandalas in the sand, or go to a dance.

July 6-Day of Io, the Cow Goddess. Imagination should be fertile today. Practice an art form.

July 3-August 15. This was recognized by the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Arabians and Polynesians. The Dog Days of Summer takes it’s name from the rising of the Dog Star, Sirius. The ancient words which we translate as “the Dog Star” could also be interpreted as “the little bitch bringing heat.” This is the hottest period in the Northern hemisphere of Earth.

The day of Venus, Friday takes its name from Frigga, the Goddess of Love and Transformation. She rules the spiritual aspects of people as they manifest on the physical. Because of this, Friday is sometimes thought of as unpredictable.

Magical aspects: love, friendship, reconciliation, and beauty.
Friday has often been associated with relaxation as it is at the end of the week, but the good feeling that comes with Friday also has a lot to do with the fact that it is ruled by the planet Venus – The Goddess of Love. Lusterless relationships and disputes may be settled on Fridays with the aid of a spell to Venus and perhaps a small personal sacrifice.

Friday is also associated with Caribbean wealth spells and has been known to improve friendships, Platonic love and increase your desirability. Be careful what you wish for on Friday, Venus’ eyes could be smiling!

This is the proper day of the week to perform spells and rituals involving love, romance, marriage, sexual matters, physical beauty, partnerships, friendships, social activities, strangers, pleasure, music, incense, perfumes, nature, and arts and crafts.

Try wearing a little copper jewelry, and see how it affects you and your Friday magick. Get those potpourri and philter recipes going, and see what you can conjure up.

Advancing your magickal skills takes drive, ambition, and passion. Work with Eros to discover just how much enthusiasm, inspiration, and drive he can bring into your days, for the imagination is a place where dreams flourish and ideas come to fruition.

Friday’s Witchery

Witchy Comments

Friday’s Witchery

Love magick is a perennial popular topic. However, there is more to this topic than meets the eye. There are many enchanting layers here for us to explore on this day of the week. What about creating a loving home, or producing a loving and nurturing family? What about keeping your intimate relationships vital and on track? How about promoting happy, healthy, and enduring friendships? See, there is more to be considered than just the “You shall be mine….” type of fictional love spell.

Don’t forget that many of the deities associated with Fridays are also parents. So, yes, while this is the day to work on romance, sex, and love spells, there is additional magick to be considered here, which makes Fridays a more well-rounded and bigger opportunity for witchery than many folks ever truly realize. The truest, strongest magick always comes from the heart.
