The tortoise represents the dome of the sky, the universe. It tells you to take slow, deliberate steps and you can achieve everything you desire.
In China, Japan, and many other countries in the East, the Tortoise is regarded as a talisman for repelling every description of magic, and the supposed malign influence of the evil eye. This jade charm is also used as a powerful amulet for good fortune, happiness, both of the heart and body, endurance, strength, and longevity. In Eastern Asia the Tortoise is regarded as the symbol of the universe, the dome of the sky being represented by the shell, and the earth by the body of the tortoise.
In Chinese Culture the Dragon is generally considered a sign of great luck and power. However the Red, Green and White Dragons in Mahjong represent three distinct influences that can affect your life. The Dragon Reading creates a relationship between sets of tiles to each Dragon to explore how the Three Dragons will influence you now and in the near future.
The White Dragon is indeed a wily fellow. His domain is the great unknown, and the tile set under him suggests an area or areas that could affect your life in unexpected ways.
The Water tile denotes a need for communication. A trip may be necessary to communicate properly. You may be called upon to present proof of ownership or that an event actually took place.
The South Wind tile is considered to be a very good sign in a reading. It almost ensures a satisfactory end to any problem.
The Toad tile indicates some troubling moments along your life’s path, but these aches will heal. It also suggests your ambition may be greater than your reach.
Symbol: Lotus Flower
The Lotus Flower tile represents birth or rebirth. On a spiritual level it may indicate you are about to reach new heights in your understanding of your place in the cosmos. Physically it may suggest a child is coming, or a new project is about to emerge. The Lotus Flower tile also speaks of regeneration, and may indicate a time of recovery from hardship—a new beginning.
Green Woman has magically floated into your life to remind you of the energy of fertility–fertility for a project, a garden, a love affair or conception. If there is fertile ground, it WILL bear fruit. Green Woman encourages you to practice your own brand of magic, and to appreciate the talents you have that will, in the near future, give birth to a magical creation.
The Magus is the physical embodiment of decisive action based upon knowledge and aimed squarely at specific goals. Thoroughly Yang by nature and firmly set in the material world, he none-the-less has a powerful spiritual connection as well. His knowledge, wisdom and skill are all encompassing. He is complete. His power as a creator is unmatched on our earthly plane. He is self-aware and unafraid to act. His enormous strength gives him the freedom to act as he chooses. However, responsibility comes with that freedom. Because he is not bound to the restraints of others he must choose how to act. The question that always lies before him is should he act morally, or forsake ethics for personal gain.
As a daily card, The Magus suggest you currently possess a tremendous power and freedom to move your life in any direction you choose. In short, you can make things happen. Your true challenge at the moment is to move forward without trampling the dreams of others. Fortunately your moral fiber is strong as well, and will guide you down the right path.
Meaning: The Romance rune is also a symbol of connection, just like the Rings rune. But differently from the latter, the former implies a deeper sort of connection. While in the Rings we have two (or more) people joining to reach a similar goal, here we have two people joining for reasons they can’t quite explain.
Hence this rune is related to love, passion, emotional bonds, sexual chemistry and sudden attraction. Any strong bond can be symbolized by this rune, including the unconditional parental love or a very strong friendship. And it’s not limited to the emotions that sparkle between individuals – the love can be also directed to an object, a subject or even a work.
It’s important to not limit this rune to the emotional field. It can be quite physical, representing sexual relations, arousal and irresistible magnetism. This rune is powerful, and often gives an extra impulse to any rune that is close it. Charismatic and seductive people are represented by the Romance rune as well.
Outside from the field of romance and sex, this rune is concerned with any act of creation. If you have any ongoing projects, you can be sure an extra impulse will come and spur you on. The Romance rune can also represent the reconciliation of opposite forces or tendencies, and the resolution of conflicts. Obsessive thoughts, stubbornness in pursuing a person or a goal and lack of objectivity are the downfalls of this rune.
The Tower is perfect card for the revolutionary or iconoclast or anyone who flourishes in rapidly changing environments. What The Tower brings to the mix is sudden, usually unexpected change. With that change there will be a period of disorder, and there may be loss. However, the loss is probably not yours, since you may well be the agent that created the change to begin with. Many positive things can occur from the change The Tower indicates: Truths will be laid bare, revelations and breakthroughs are not just possible but likely, and nothing spurs creativity like a good dose of chaos and confusion. In the end it is likely that what replaces what was lost in the fall of The Tower will be worth the loss.
The situation calls for confronting a knotty conflict and cutting through it. Somehow, the way to harmony and unity is blocked or frustrated — perhaps by a tangle of misunderstandings or outright deceit. Like Alexander the Great cutting the Gordian knot, assert yourself now and you will meet with good fortune. Don’t be afraid to shake things up a bit. The ability to take corrective measures when they are needed is an essential trait of true leadership.
But those who bring discipline to bear must, above all, be honest — with others, and with themselves. Honesty is the hallmark of the strong and self-confident. The successful person masters the art of honesty much as a swordsman masters fencing. When lies, delusions and game playing are getting in the way of teamwork, a swift sword of honest action, perhaps even correction, must be wielded to protect one’s integrity and values. Decisiveness with integrity brings good fortune.
Though your actions be vigorous, they must not be hasty, severe or arbitrary. Be sure to carefully consider all the circumstances. In the case of a serious disruption of relations, you must forgive, but not forget to give a person a chance to make reparations for his mistakes. If some penalty or punishment is necessary, make certain that it fits the crime. When boundaries have become slack and useless, only through the institution of clear and swift correction can their effectiveness be restored.
In situations where serious issues of justice are at stake, keep careful records and do not hesitate to go public with the truth.
Casting the Stones, Your Past, Present & Future Reading for Today
This is a three Rune cast intended to shed light on what is, what was, and what will be.
The Past Gebo
Gebo represents the coming of gifts and favors. While each are usually positive events, they often carry obligations with them. Gebo often represents strong bonds such as deep friendships and marriage.
The Present Ansuz
Ansuz represents mankind’s spiritual connection to God and the universe. It is often referred to as the “God Rune.” This Rune embodies reason, truth and justice. It denotes the coming of knowledge and true counsel from a higher authority.
The Future Fehu
Fehu is the Rune of prosperity, good luck and unbridled creative energies. Being associated with Frey, this Rune is also a powerful omen of fertility. Fehu is one of the three Mother Stones and should never be taken lightly.
In modern symbology, fire is generally masculine and ice (or earth) is feminine, but it is unknown whether the Norse shared this association. Certainly, ice was a constant factor in their day to day lives. It threatened their crops and their ships almost throughout the year, but it also served as a symbol of creation, from which all life will eventually spring. It says something about the Norse mind that they could recognize the need to have such a seemingly destructive joining of elements in order to create and maintain life. Fire may be warm and pleasant, but it must be balanced by the freezing of winter just as birth must be balanced by death. Even the little death of sleep has been proven to be vital for our mental and physical well-being.
Isa encompasses all of these ideas, but primarily represents a period of rest before activity, and itself forms the material from which life can be created. It is matter, inert by itself, but transformed into the stuff of stars when wedded with energy. It is the immovable form acted upon the irresistible force. In many ways, the Norse predicted Einstein with their version of the creation of the universe, recognizing that everything in their world contained both fire and ice (energy and matter), and that the relationship between the two defined the processes of life itself.
First and foremost Death does not specifically pertain to our physical death. The Death card marks ends and beginnings. Although most illustrations of the Death card tend to be morbid, the forces behind the Death card are actually quite exciting. Yes Death does mark the end of something. But ends are often brought about by completion and not loss. Most endings are actually good, and make room for us to begin new adventures.
When The Tower is among your personal cards, the influence of Death may be increased. Having The Fool or The Empress in your personal cards may diminish the influence of Death.
The Emperor is gifted with the skills to successfully lead others. He can turn chaos into order, provide structure to that which is unbound. He is quick of mind and confident in his power and right to rule, and does so in a just manner. Although stern by nature, he truly is the ultimate father figure. He will provide as needed, teach those with unanswered questions, protect the vulnerable, set and maintain boundaries. His perfect world runs on schedule and is free of any disturbances. What the Emperor must be wary of is setting boundaries and rules where none are needed. If he isn’t he may well become a tyrant.
When The Hierophant or Justice are among your personal cards, the influence of The Emperor may be increased. Having The Empress in your personal cards may diminish the influence of The Emperor.
The completely feminine counterpart to The Magician, the High Priestess is the Gatekeeper of the subconscious, the unknown. She travels in worlds which most of us only glimpse in our dreams. Her realm is that of unseen truths, untapped potentials, and hidden dangers. The Calling of The High Priestess is to go beyond the obvious and visible to tap those powers which are veiled from normal vision. While she is passive by nature, she has the power to uncover unknown potential and is very aware of the infinite potential all humans harbor within them. She is also very patient. She can wait for events to blossom in their own time.
Have you heard the expression, “once in a blue Moon,” and wondered what it means? Does the Moon really turn blue? Does this only happen once every couple of hundred or thousand years? Well, the answer is no and no. But it IS happening in July 2015.
The term “blue Moon,” which people have adopted as a way of describing something rare, is more or less an “extra” Full Moon. Most years have 12 Full Moons, which occur approximately every month. But once every two or three years, there’s an extra Full Moon — and that is what we call a “Blue Moon.”
So why is there an extra Full Moon? It’s simply because the solar calendar has about 11 more days than the lunar calendar, and after a few years all those extra days build up to the point where there’s an extra Full Moon.
And why the color blue, if the Moon doesn’t really turn blue? It’s believed the word comes from an old Middle English word, “belewe” — which actually means “betray.” In other words, they used to call it the Betrayer Moon, because this extra Full Moon didn’t fit into the normal lunar cycle. Over the years the word “belewe” evolved into “blue” — hence, we give you the “blue Moon.”
In July of 2015, the first Full Moon happened in Capricorn on July 1, and the second Full Moon, in Aquarius, the Blue Moon, occurs on July 31. There won’t be another blue Moon like this again until 2018.
Full Moons are emotionally charged, so any time there are two Full Moons in one month it means that month could be an emotional roller coaster for some people. Thank goodness it only happens once in a blue Moon!
Express yourself and allow others to enjoy your talents today, dear Aries. It’s a good day for creating something new, but it’s also strong for productivity and truly enjoying what you’re doing. From afternoon forward, you’re more inclined to concern yourself with performance and production.
You’re taking special interest in the practical side of things, efficiency, and whether things are workable in the long term. You can especially benefit from looking at the past and learning from it, as you’re seeing important patterns. This can be especially so in matters of work and health. The key to getting a lot done these days is finding joy in the process.
The energy of the day is smooth and playful overall, dear Taurus, and for you, particularly from afternoon forward. After a rather introspective few days, allow yourself some time off from too much thinking. The Moon enters a fellow Earth sign (Capricorn) this afternoon, allowing for an overall sense of ease. This is a time for pressure-free activities – those things that break the monotony and routine and that allow you to step outside of yourself and enjoy something new or simply a change of scenery.
The morning tends to be light, dear Gemini, but as the day progresses, you’re more inclined to think and feel deeply about things. You could be thinking intently about your feelings for someone, about a past relationship, or complicated matter. There can be a reassessment going on and some uncertainty. Others might find you a little distant or lost within yourself as a result, but it can be very easy to pull you out. Conversations tonight can be especially invigorating and even motivating. Your advice may be sought now. Part of you is likely craving some form of drama, so a good movie or book is something to consider as well.
This can be a good day for harmonizing with others, dear Cancer, and particularly so with a partner, significant other, or friend. The day can begin with an easy focus on practical matters, work, routines, and getting organized, but later today, you’re more inclined to want to seek out company. Energy levels may not be peaking today, but you might focus on easy interactions and uncomplicated activities. It’s a strong time for observing how others relate to you, and you to them.
There’s a tendency to think intensely about love today, dear Leo, especially past matters or complicated feelings. If you have preparations to take care of, the Moon’s presence in your solar sixth house from the afternoon forward can help, as you’re emotionally geared to get organized and take care of business. This is a strong day for both preparatory and “catch-up” work. Today favors sorting out details rather than forging ahead. Getting a little lost in details is actually appropriate now, but take things step by step for best results. It’s in fact a strong time for creative thinking and putting your ideas into practice. Your advice to others can be especially helpful now.
You can feel especially strong this morning, dear Virgo, particularly if you surround yourself with familiar things and if you engage in comforting routines. Later today, you have a greater need to enjoy yourself, to do something different or creative, and to find yourself some entertainment. It’s important to approach others, projects, and experiences in a relaxed way. Pushing can lead to mistakes. There can be a tendency to think about the past when it comes to relationships. There is very good energy with you for communicating, planning, and discovering important patterns.
You have an emotional need for stimulation today, dear Libra. You may be in the position to support, protect, or defend a friend or associate, or to simply enjoy someone’s company. In fact, there can be strong energy for learning from others and for new ideas with you now. There can be a focus on the past, especially complicated feelings in the afternoon. Take any chance you can to enjoy quiet times, and take extra time for moments alone. With peace, you will find that you can tap into your intuition quite easily, as it is a time when something on the inside is waiting to be tapped!
Financial matters assume more importance in your life again today, dear Scorpio. Try to focus on what you can reuse or recycle as you may very well gain a stronger feeling of abundance as a result. Energies shift this afternoon, and you’re more inclined to reach out to others. There can be interesting news or revelations, and possibly some insight into matters from the past that were left undone or unexplained. Try to focus on easy interactions and uncomplicated activities. It’s a strong time for observing how others relate to you, and you to them, from a different perspective.
You can feel quite motivated and can be productive today, dear Sagittarius, and others tend to support you in your efforts, or allow you enough breathing space to do your thing. Emotions tend to settle this afternoon with the Moon exiting your sign. While the high emotional energy that the Moon in your sign has brought to your life in the past few days has been welcome, now some of the pressure is off to meet emotional needs, and this allows you to better see your next step or what needs to be done. This afternoon is good for some voluntary simplicity, as “more” is not always better. Tonight’s energies are strong for solving a problem, particularly through conversation with a trusted friend or partner.
Your deeper, more intense emotions are aroused today, dear Capricorn, and you tend to be quite hungry for the emotional excitement that comes from a feeling of connectedness with others and with your deeper, more private self. This hunger, if unfulfilled, can lead you to create some kind of emotional drama if you’re not careful, perhaps by imagining slights or remembering previous hurts. The Moon leaves your privacy sector this afternoon and enters your sign. Emotional needs can seem quite urgent with the Moon in your sign. Tonight, there is strong energy for sorting an emotional pattern or problem out.
This morning’s energy is sociable but productive, dear Aquarius, as you can get a lot out of collaboration and reaching out to others. The Moon enters your privacy zone this afternoon, and there is a stronger need to withdraw from overly demanding or competitive situations. If at all possible, clear your schedule and take extra time for yourself, as there is great value today in some rest and reflection. Tune into your intuition. Look within for answers, and avoid competitive or demanding situations so that you can truly unwind. There is no need to push yourself for answers. In fact, letting go can clear your mind and solutions or ideas have “room” to surface.
You may discover today that your thoughts need to change and elevate in order for true progress to be made, dear Pisces, and today’s energies are good for just that – it’s a fine time for putting yourself in a different setting and frame of mind. This can serve to refresh and revitalize you. A casual friendship can be rewarding now, particularly an established one, as there is a tendency to want to connect with your past in meaningful ways. In fact, you may begin to see interesting patterns in your life that help you to better understand yourself and your relationships.
