Ascension As we ascend, we gain consciousness of the more subtle aspects of our being and begin to connect with all that is.
We are one with the cosmos whether we realize it or not. Realizing it, though, quickens our spiritual energy and allows us access to higher realms. In those higher realms lies the awareness that we are more than just finite physical beings living one life in one place at one point in time. Connecting with this awareness is to awaken to the truth and take a step forward, and upward, on our soul’s journey. This upward movement is known as ascension because the more we remember who we are and embody that truth, the higher our energy vibrates; we ascend up the scale from the gross physical plane to the subtle spiritual plane. As we ascend, we gain consciousness of the more subtle aspects of our being, with the ultimate outcome being a complete identification with the light body, an experience of unification with the cosmos. As you look around you, you will see that many people are not even interested in these ideas. Others are open and paying attention. Still others have devoted their lives to deepening their understanding of the truth. All these people are on the path of ascension, but they will ascend at different rates. Each soul chooses its own path. The more devoted a person is to remembering and being guided by spirit, the more quickly the soul will ascend. These people are at the forefront of an important process of raising the energetic vibration of the whole planet. The earth, made of the same energy we are, is undergoing this shift along with us. This evolutionary process, while seemingly chaotic at times, is as natural as the process that unfolds a flower from a seed and we are all part of it. It shouldn’t be forgotten that the earth too is on her own ascension path as she is sentient. The best way to support this process in yourself and in the world is simply to relax and be open to its unfolding. Listen to your inner guidance, and let it guide you to the path that brings your heart the most joy. |

Shamanism and Shape-shifting
Shamanism and Shape-shifting

Shamanism:
Shamanism is a set of tools and techniques used to interact with the spirit world and the world around us. It has no specific pantheon of gods and is attached to no particular culture. It is a way of looking at the world and at yourself. There are no hard-set rules, no hierarchy to try and work through. Shamanism is the oldest known form of spiritual practice. It is a time-tested practice, what works is kept, what doesn’t is left behind. When our ancient ancestors prayed that the spirit of the Deer would come to them allowing them a good hunt, they were using shamanic techniques although I am sure that was not the word they used to describe it.
Shamanism is a personal quest for knowledge and inner power, but it is a quest that has traditionally taken place within the confines of a tribe or family group. The same holds true for those who follow a shamanic path today, but our groups might be different. We could work to guide and aid our family or a group of friends or a pagan circle. These groups are just as valid and appropriate a place for a modern person walking a shamanic path as a tribe was to an ancient one. A shaman’s place is within a community, not apart from it.
Shamans have held an important place in many different cultures throughout the world since our beginnings. They have been mediators, ceremonialists, healers, diviners, many different kinds of artists and much more. They learn and work with power for both themselves and the good of those around them. They understand the connection and need for balance amongst all things, that all aspects of the world that we share with the rest of creation is alive, humans, animals, plants, rocks, and even the wind.
Traditionally people generally came to a shamanic path by being chosen and trained by an experienced shaman, or by inheriting the role from a parent. Often people choose or are led to follow a shamanic path after a near death experience, but that doesn’t mean that you have to go out and try to kill yourself if you want to learn shamanism. In today’s world many people come to the shamanic path because they feel drawn to it or curious about it. Anyone can incorporate shamanic practices into their lives. You only need to believe that you can.
However, interest in shamanism does not make you a Shaman. If you are just starting this path it is much more appropriate to say you are following a shamanic path or a student of shamanism. Shaman is one among many titles that can be used for a person who has followed and studied this path for many years. Another common title is Medicine Woman or Man.
Another common misconception is that shamanism is synonymous with Native American spirituality. Native Americans were one of many groups that used shamanic practices in their spirituality. Many other cultures did and still do, from South America all the way to Siberia in fact. Some of the better known shamanic paths include Native American shamanism, Celtic shamanism, and Siberian shamanism.
Shape-shifting:
Shape-shifting is a type of meditation on the relationship between humankind and nature, in particular animals. Shapeshifting is based on assuming certain characteristics of an animal. Traits and talents are also included in these characteristics. These characteristics, traits, and talents are assumed for a limited time and for a particular purpose. A shape-shifter is able to change shape either at will or under special circumstances.
Shape-shifters are not just human; they are also animals and plants. Shape-shifting ability depends on the level or degree of energy or quality of life the creature possesses. It is more difficult for plants because they are stationary, and least difficult for human beings because they are most able to understand the dynamics involved. Animals, including humans, are mobile, and it follows that animals are adept at moving and directing energy. It is, as humans, our innate nature, and our state of being.
For Chinese Taoists, there are two methods or purposes for shape-shifting. One, to strengthen or improve your vital essence by the study of metaphysics and nature. Two, to share your vital essence with others. This shift can be accomplished through meditation, channeling, dancing, and singing – as well as chanting, ritual, and making love. More or less, any situation where people merge together as One and build energy.
Toltec shamans shape-shift and gather energy by pulling together the power from the universe, for instance, from dead stars. Through a complex set of physical movements, breath and intention, the Toltec shaman gathers and collects energy to be used toward specific purposes.
The Celtic shaman also understands that things never truly die; they merely change form. Thus, the cycle of life becomes more understood. All things continuously change shape. A child grows to adulthood to old age to death and again. Everything is continuously reborn through shape-shifting and the elemental components are constantly recycling.
A glass of water is a good example of these changes. If given a glass of water, you cannot destroy it; it is impossible to destroy the water. If poured our, the water becomes part of whatever you pour it into or onto. If evaporated, it later becomes rain. If drank, it becomes part of the body then waste that is recycled into the Earth. In other words, like all other things, it cannot be destroyed. Nothing can be destroyed. All is ever-beginning, never-ending. All things merely shift shape. This very strongly suggests that shapeshifting is a natural state of existence.
Human reason and logic do not necessarily apply to shapeshifting. To shift into another person, animal, or elemental energy means being privy to the secrets of a state of being where you are able to feel the unexplainable, the mysterious. By setting aside known and accepted natural laws, like inertia, you can merge into the body of any animal, plant, rock, body of water – anything you choose. This merging allows you to experience the world of instinct. This world is frightening to most humans who have separated themselves from nature and from the “natural” state of being.
As you learn more about shifting, and abandon the structures and forces that hold you to the Earth, time and space become very fluid and soft. This creates a gateway to Oneness, a threshold of awareness where your perspective alters and changes permanently. Once you move through that threshold, you are transformed. It becomes a metamorphosis.
The fluidity of reality becomes “normal” and you realize you are not a fixed human being on this planet but a multidimensional being with the potential of experiencing an infinite number of lifetimes, worlds, and shapes. One important thing to remember in practicing shape-shifting is that nothing is what it seems to be, especially time, matter, and space.
On a very basic level, shifting allows for a richer and fuller perspective of life and experience. As a way to gather information and build magickal skill, shape-shifting connects you with your creative ability and your spiritual center, regardless of your religious, philosophical, or cultural preferences.
The key to learning how to shape-shift is merging, sometimes called the “thirteenth factor.” Merging, or the thirteenth factor is the point where there is no division between body, mind and spirit. Everything becomes Oneness, and all knowledge and wisdom are readily accessible in this place of being, depending on your intentions and desire. Merging is the mystic state where you become one with all things. This occurs naturally when you are in a beautiful nature area, and suddenly you feel yourself becoming part of the trees, the waterfall, and the rocks.
It also occurs when you fall in love. You merge and meld with your partner. Another example is the bonding that happens between parent and child, or between twins.
The Two Main Components of the merging process are breath and intention. First, your intention needs to be specific, simple, and directed. Focus on the intention before, during and after merging.
Second, pay close attention to how you are breathing. Relax. Use “in, 2, 3, 4 – out, 2, 3, 4.” Hold your breath briefly in between. Repeat this as many times as needed for you to relax. After practice, you will find that merging becomes automatic.
When you merge into an animal, you enter the energetic being of the animal, stepping into catness or wolfness, and so on. It is as if you enter the domain of essence, becoming the animal, almost like becoming a mirror of the animal. Each animal becomes an aspect of yourself, your eyes, your legs, your heart become one with the eagle, the horse, the lion, etc.
When you incarnate into the physical, you take form and become flesh, embodied and defined. Definition gives temporary form and shape as a human being. Shape-shifting allow you to briefly step out of that form. It also allows you to move out of “ordinary” reality into multidimensional awareness, realizing you can be here and there at the same time.
It is a strange feeling at first, until you accustom yourself to this new perspective. With practice, you can eventually learn to experimentally be in several places (worlds) at once, hence the concept of simultaneous lifetimes.
There are three levels of shape-shifting: mental, physical (usually accompanied by mental) , and astral.

The New Age movement has informed us of a wonderful metaphysical development: the Indigo Child. For anyone who has missed this phenomenon, Indigo Children are reported to be a group of humans incarnating into this world with a greater knowledge of their own inherent spiritual nature and power. They are said to embody a higher consciousness, which is free from the limitations and pettiness of modern society.
This progressive generation, which sources place from anywhere between thirty and eight years of age, are the ones who will bring a cosmic change to the societies of Earth, allowing us to complete our transition into the New Age.
Indigo Children are said to exhibit peculiar traits. They resist conventional modes of behaviors, and are commonly identified through recognition of 10 behavioral indicators:
• They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it)
• They have a feeling of “deserving to be here, ” and are surprised when others don’t share that.
• Self-worth is not a big issue. They often tell the parents “who they are.”
• They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice) .
• They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
• They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and don’t require creative thought.
• They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like “system busters” (nonconforming to any system) .
• They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
• They will not respond to “guilt” discipline (“Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did”) .
• They are not shy in letting you know what they need. [1]
These children are also said to have a greater psychic awareness, clear memories of past lives, and the ability to communicate with spirits and angels. Some sources cite telekinetic abilities and connection to extraterrestrial entities.
Countless books and websites speak of how to deal with Indigo Children. Parents are encouraged to allow their children to define themselves and establish their own boundaries, if they are so inclined. Undue restrictions or disciplinary actions can stifle the development of an Indigo Child and lead to his dysfunction. Particular care is given to differentiating between an Indigo Child and a child with autism or ADHD, for the structure necessary to deal with these behavioral disorders can damage an Indigo.
In a New Age homage to Jean-Jacques Rousseau, parents are to allow their children to develop as naturally as possible, allowing society to impose as little of its limitations and restrictions upon Indigo Children as possible. After all, these children are our future, and are heralding the New Age!
Well, instead generation of enlightened beings at the forefront of spirituality, the Indigo generation has proven to exhibit qualities more akin to narcissism. [2] The Indigo phenomenon has shown itself to be nothing more than a New Age version of the increased permissiveness and lack of responsibility that is fast becoming the hallmark of our culture. Instead of teaching children the importance of discipline and accountability, we have engrained them with self-importance, fearful that any restriction upon them will damage their self-esteem and leave them psychologically crippled.
The Indigo Movement has more problems than that, of course. Any half-aware parent can tell you that the signs of special-ness that Indigo children supposedly display are not that unusual, especially in children denied the benefit of regular discipline. Survivals from the racism of Theosophy have shown up in claims of the Indigos embodying a new “root race.”[3] Many parents identifying their children as Indigos appear to be in denial that their children suffer from autism, ADHD, or other disorders [4] — leaving the question of how self-important they are that they can’t admit there is something wrong with their children. And then there is the question that plagues the rest of the New Age movement: why are we undergoing immediate preparations for the Age of Aquarius when any amateur astrologer with a computer can see that the progressing equinox won’t enter Aquarius for another 300 years?
But I’m digressing a bit. My own self-importance must be getting the best of me.
Phil Hine describes confidence as the skill of being relaxed in the immediate present, and asserts this skill as essential to the practice of magic. [5] Such a skill requires an individual to feel prepared to handle situations that may arise, as well as awareness of the individual’s immediate surroundings and situation. It can be overdone, however, and over-confidence can prove just as detrimental to he magician as a lack of confidence, especially if it goes so far as to develop into full-blown magus-itis. [6]
Self esteem and positive self-image are important, but our contemporary obsession with them has greatly over-exaggerated their importance. Studies have shown that not only does high self-esteem not lead to higher accomplishment and self-actualization, but it can actually inhibit it. [7] Studies have also shown that unearned self-esteem can be a causative factor in bullying and other violent behaviors, as well as inherent feelings of superiority and aggression.[8]
So, a point begins to emerge.
It does a disservice to anyone to constantly reassure him of his greatness and his entitlement to glory, especially in the absence of worthy achievements. Raising an entire generation to expect others to recognize their inherent wonderfulness and ignore their self-absorption does not help society progress to an age of enlightenment – it gives rise to millions of people who are reluctant to work to accomplish anything, who feel entitled to recognition, and who are self-obsessed and shallow. This does little to further society.
It does little to further he metaphysical community, either. The New Age Movement doesn’t need any more self-importance or pretension, and quite honestly neither do the Neopagan or occult communities. Raising a child to believe in his destiny of greatness – whether earned or not – and then putting him in an environment where others are attempting to manipulate reality is asking for trouble. At best he would become an annoyance, attempting to impress or intimidate others with tales of power that have never been demonstrated [9]; at worst he could manage to cultivate his magical power, and could use it to compel and manipulate others into satisfying his need for attention and reverence. Neither situation depicts a person that many magicians actually want to deal with.
So what is the solution?
Chaos Magic has several techniques developed for ego deconstruction that will surely be of use [10], but I’d like to be so bold as to propose a few suggestions. Recognize the importance of discipline, and accountability, especially in magical practice. Anything worth doing is worth doing well, and having the discipline to stick with something will only benefit your competency in whatever it is you are doing.
Develop your confidence, but do so through study and practice. Know your limitations, especially while seeking to expand them. Do not expect or demand praise, even when it is due.
Don’t be afraid to hurt someone’s self-esteem with honest criticism, especially when analyzing yourself. Acknowledge your mistakes when you make them, and learn from them if you can. And try to avoid overstating and exaggerating your achievements … too much.
Remember, you are special. So is everyone else. Performing magic or having psychic ability does not necessarily make you more special than anyone else, and it certainly doesn’t entitle you to be held up above others.
Let your actions speak louder than your words, and don’t demand special recognition for either.

Being Spiritually Centered (And Tips On How To Get There)
Being Spiritually Centered (And Tips On How To Get There)

Author: Blackthorn Furie
Witches are taught that life is an intricate web of interconnected forces; that we are all one and that each piece of the microcosm can influence the whole. We are also taught to think for ourselves (a bit of an oxymoron, I know) and that every living being has its own destiny and right to exist. Furthermore, we are told that everyone should be able to believe whatever they choose and that all beliefs have validity even if only for their respective adherents, since one’s perceptions can influence their reality. This I believe is a true but potentially dangerous teaching if not framed in the proper context.
Most of us are taught how to “ground and center” in the moment as part of proper preparation for ritual or at least as a stress relieving technique however, an increasing number of us haven’t been given instruction in the necessity of, or the way to becoming, spiritually centered beings. I have known several people in my life (some Pagan, some not) that struggle with a feeling of spiritual emptiness and unrelenting frustration. They feel abandoned by the universe and whatever concept of Deity they hold dear. They don’t understand why so much of their life is filled with chaos. They feel continual conflict, both in the outside world and within themselves. I myself have suffered from this ailment and have struggled to find answers as to why. I have come to identify a reason for this chaos and conflict: a lack of being spiritually centered.
Being spiritually centered is a powerful tool that we have to truly embrace who we are as people and how we approach life. If you study spiritual gurus or masters of any faith, one key factor keeps presenting itself; they practice what they preach. In other words, they live their lives according to a set of clearly defined beliefs that they adhere to without exception. They leave no room for inner conflict or hypocrisy.
Psychologists have identified a state known as cognitive dissonance, which is defined by the American Psychological Association as: a state of despair that is induced when a person holds two contradictory beliefs, or when a belief is incongruent with an action that the person had chosen freely to perform. Because this situation produces feelings of discomfort, the individual strives to change one of the beliefs or behaviors in order to avoid being inconsistent. Hypocrisy is a special case of cognitive dissonance, produced when a person freely chooses to promote a behavior that they do not themselves practice.
I believe cognitive dissonance to be one of the greatest social ills faced in human society. When people feel driven to hold a belief because it was instilled in them as a child but they personally feel that the belief is either too restrictive or wholly invalid, a frustration and dissatisfaction with life builds within the mind. We’ve seen the results of unrelenting cognitive dissonance on a societal scale many times in the past.
When a group (let’s say the Puritans, for example) feels compelled to hold personally restrictive beliefs that are too difficult for even themselves to comply with, they then feel a gnawing sense of inadequacy, guilt and despair, now known as cognitive dissonance. This would then result in a large number of spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically unfulfilled people which, (I guess) is fine if that is their free choice.
If however, another group of people is nearby that practice a different set of beliefs (let’s say Native Americans, Pagans, Less restrictive Christians, well anybody really…) and those people appear happier and more fulfilled than the former group, the inner conflict only grows. To ease this conflict they have only three possible courses of action: isolate themselves away from the less restrictive people and continue in their ways, change their own restrictive beliefs and live a more relaxed life, or persecute those that live more freely than they, in order to reinforce their own sense of values and ease some of their secret feelings of inadequacy.
Sadly, this last choice seems to be the one that is most often chosen. Far too many people throughout history (in my opinion) have mistaken the sense of power felt when they convert people to their beliefs for true spirituality and religious fulfillment. Instead of becoming spiritually centered themselves, they choose to force their values on others; attempting to stamp out other belief systems in the hope that this will reinforce and ‘prove’ the supremacy and truth of their own beliefs to themselves.
This is why at the beginning of this article I stated that I believe that the fact that everyone’s beliefs are valid on at least some level because a person’s perceptions can influence reality, can be a dangerous teaching. If a person believes that inner conflict and a feeling of spiritual emptiness are ‘the way it must be’ then, they are living in needless misery and becoming potentially dangerous to those around them that do not share in their narrow outlook.
With all that being said, I shall (finally!) come to the point of this article and discuss becoming spiritually centered. In order to be spiritually centered, you must know who you are. You must have ‘found yourself’ as they say, and you must be comfortable in your own skin. This requires a process of evaluation and conscious acknowledgment of how you think and what you believe. The first step in this process is to ask yourself what you believe. Take a notebook and write down everything that you believe. No, seriously! Make the list as complete as possible; write down your entire Spiritual, cultural, political, and personal beliefs, both positive and negative.
After this list is complete, consider each item and determine whether you hold this belief because you truly believe it or, merely because someone else told you to believe it. Now, consider each item and decide whether or not you want to continue to hold that belief. Those beliefs you no longer desire to keep should be crossed out on your list. It is vital that a truly Spiritual person be free of clouded judgment and the weight of other people’s beliefs.
To hold any belief only because someone else claimed it as fact is a giving up of personal control to that person. A belief should only be held if, upon personal examination and experimentation, you find that it truly speaks to you and enriches your life.
Any shame or fear-based beliefs must be thoroughly examined. Truly determine whether or not any guilt, shame, fear or doubt is based on genuine wrongs that you may have committed or rather, based on unfair labels and projections placed upon you by others. This no doubt, will be an emotional journey but I assure you it is definitely worthwhile. Depending on the nature and severity of any emotional issues, therapy may be required to properly resolve them. In that case, I would highly recommend it but use your best judgment. Just remember that we are all human and prone to mistakes. One of the great challenges in life is to learn from and grow beyond, our mistakes. Let go of shame and fear.
The next step is, create a new revised list (I’m big on lists) of your personal beliefs and scan this list for any conflicting beliefs that you still hold. As I previously mentioned, hypocrisy is just another form of cognitive dissonance and will continue to keep you away from your centered self. Remember, there is a difference in being able to see both points of view in an argument and never being able to give a singular personal opinion on anything because you don’t feel able to take a definitive stance on any issue. The latter results from continuing to hold conflicting beliefs that keep you bound in shame and guilt and blur the lines so that you can’t find personal truth.
When you are centered, you are able to speak your truth with a clear and proud voice because you know deep within your heart that it is your truth and you will be unwilling to abandon it.
Once all your beliefs align, there is only one more step in becoming centered…actually living according to those beliefs. Remember that it is just as important to ‘do’ as it is to understand and feel. There are three aspects to our personalities: thinking, willing, and feeling. We need to utilize all three as equally as possible in order to live fully. Thinking and (hopefully) feeling have been involved in the process so far, but never forget the power of the human will. It is connected to the fire element and is that special spark that is only gained through actual experience; contemplation, evaluation, intellectual understanding and emotional connection are only parts of the process.
To be complete, we too must practice what we preach.
Blessed Be.
THE CREATION STORY
THE CREATION STORY
THE CREATION STORY
Long, long ago, the world slept in the arms of the dark void. From this place of nothingness, Spirit drew together and created Our Lady of Infinite Love.
The Lady danced among the heavens, Her feetbeating out the rythmn of all creation. Sparks of light catapaulted from Her hair, giving birth to the stars and planets. As She twirled, these heavenly bodies began to move with Her in the divine symphony of the universe. When Her dancing quickened She formed the seas and mountains of Earth. She chanted words of love and joy, and as these sounds fell to the Earth, the trees and flowers were born.
From the pure, white light of Her breath came the colors of the universe, turning all things to vibrant beauty. from the bubbling laughter in Her throat sprang the sounds of the pristine running water of the streams, the gentle lapping vibrations of the lake, and the roaring screams of the oceans. Her tears of joy became the rains of our survival.
When Her dancing slowed and She sought a companion to share the wonders of the world, Spirit created The Lord as Her lifemate and companion. Because She so loved the Earth, Spirit made Her companion half spirit, half animal, so that together the Lord and Lady could populate our planet. The Lord’s power moves through her and She showers the Earth and all upon it with Her blessings. Together, the Lord and Lady gave birth to the birds, animals, fishes, and people of our world. To protect and guide the humans, the Lord and Lady created the angels and power spirits. These energies walk with us always, though we may not often see them. Their speech creates a tapestry of positve energy, from which we draw strength.
To each bird the Lady gave a magic song, and to each animal the Lord bestowed the instinct to survive.
The Lord is the master of the animal and plant kingdoms, and therefore wears the antlers of a stag crowning His great head. This aspect of half man, half animal shows His joy in both the human and animal creations of the Spirit.
As the humans began to grow and prosper, the Lord and Lady saw a need for healers among them. And so they drew forth energy from the realm of angels, the realm of the power animals, and the realm of the humans to create the Witches. The Witches brought with them the wisdom of the Lord and Lady, the ability to heal, and the art of magic. The Lady taught the Witches how to cast a magic circle and talk to Spirit, and the Lord taught the Witches how to communicate with the energies of air, fire, earth, and water, and commune with the animal and plant kingdoms.
At first, the humans accepted the Witches and treated them fairly; but because the Witches are different, humans began to fear the Wise Ones of the Lord and Lady, thus the Witches became the Hidden Children, conducting their rites of positive energy in secret lest they risk capture and death at the hands of uneducated humans.
As the world grew darker with ignorance and hate of human creation, The Lady took the body of the Moon to represent the gentle light of her perfect peace, and the Lord took the vibrant rays of the Sun as his symbol of strength in perfect love. And once a month, when the Moon is full, the Witches celebrate and remember the blessings our Mother has bestowed upon us.
We call forth Her energy to help us take care of ourselves, our families, our planet, and our friends. Four times a year the Witches celebrate the festivals of fire and honor the Lord and His love for us – these are called the cross-quarters. At the four quarters of the seasons, the Witches honor the cycle of life and the gifts of the Earth with festivals to both the Lord and Lady – signifying the balance they have brought us – the Equinoxes and the Solstices.
The Lady has many names – Isis, Astarte, Bride, Diana, Aradia, Hecate – and the Lady walks within and beside each woman of every race.
The Lord has many faces, from the strong Cernunnos to the delightful Pan. He guards and guides us and resides in each man of every race.
When thunder roars in the heavens, and lightning cracks from the ground, the Lord and Lady dance the divine myth of creation so that we may remember them and know that we are never alone.
When the Sun rises each morning, we bask in the joy of His love for us, and when the Moon moves through Her phases, we understand the cycle of birth, growth, death, and rebirth.
When it is our time, the Witches enter the Summerland. From the Spirit that moves and flows through the Lord and Lady we continue to learn the mysticism of the Universe so that we may return, life after life, to serve our brothers and sisters.
In each lifetime, Spirit guides us through learning experiences, preparing us along the way for our individual missions. Sometimes we are born among our own kind, and in other instances we must seek out our spiritual family. Many of us do not remeber our chosen path until we reach adulthood, but others know instinctively of their heritage from the time they form their own thoughts.
We are the Witches, the representation of the growth of wisdom on our planet. We are the Hidden Children, back from the dead. We are the people, the power, the change, and we have incarnated in every race and every culture. We are the angels of Earth.

The aquamarine is a semiprecious stone of the beryl variety, making it related to emeralds. Because of its pale blue-green color it has been associated with water since ancient times. Its name is derived from the Latin for “water” and “sea.” Aquamarine beads have been found in ancient Egyptian mummy pits. The Romans were the first to record uses for aquamarine gemstones as a healing agent.
- Because the aquamarine is associated with water, it is believed to have curative powers over those areas of the human body relating to water and cleansing. Thus, the gemstone is used in crystal healing rituals concerning matters of the kidneys and the bladder or dealing with water (or fluid) retention. The crystal is used for its diuretic properties and ability to maintain a proper balance of fluid within the body. As in ancient times, the stone is still considered helpful in dealing with chronic issues, most especially those relating to digestive problems. Drinking water in which an aquamarine has been immersed is believed to help with an acidic stomach. It may also help with ulcers and other inflammation. Modern crystal healers also use aquamarine to deal with glandular disorders and as an aid in maintaining healthy eyes.
- Because aquamarine is associated with the throat chakra, wearing an aquamarine necklace is believed to cure sore throats or even tonsillitis. Aquamarine can also help with toothaches or aches of the jaw in general. Wearing or gazing into the gem is said to produce a soothing effect. Thus, aquamarines ease mental issues as well as physical. Aquamarine is good for mental stress. It eases depression and grief by gently brightening the aura. It can sharpen the memory and improve mental clarity while heightening your awareness on all levels. While calming the mind, it also stimulates creativity. And drinking aquamarine water is thought to reverse the aging process. Aquamarine is also worn to improve blood circulation.
- Aquamarines are said to possess receptive energy and are ruled by the moon. Their element of influence is, naturally, water. They are said to imbue the wearer with psychic powers and feelings of peace and courage. They are also used for purification. A simple tincture can be made by leaving an aquamarine in a glass of water beneath the full moon. It should sit this way for three hours. Then remove the stone and drink the water both for purification benefits and to heighten psychic awareness. As it has been since ancient times, aquamarine is carried as a protective amulet while sailing or flying over water.
