Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Please note: Mercury will be retrograde from June 18 to July 12. However, there are buffer times because Mercury slows down ahead of time; then afterwards, it takes time to catch up to where it was at when it went retrograde. The buffer times are June 4 to July 27. Mercury retrograde is a poor time to initiate new projects. It’s also a poor time to buy cars, trucks, motorcycles and bikes; computers and cell phones. This info will help you to initiate things now or wait. Nevertheless, Mercury retrograde times are excellent to finish old business! (Like frantically squeezing grapes into an empty wine bottle two minutes before the Big Wine Tasting Competition.)

Your focus on home and family continues this week; however, there will be more emphasis on family discussions and making plans. Many of you will tackle home repairs and DIY projects. Goals give you a clearer focus on what’s important. They also give you more clarity in your decision-making. They give you better control over your future and certainly, give you a sense of purpose. Because Mercury is joining the Sun in this hidden part of your chart, you will be happy to go off by yourself and study or do research. You’re not being antisocial – it’s your preference. Where we live has a huge impact on how we turn the Wheel. The landscape, the seasons, and local culture all affect how we experience the world around us. The community in which you live probably all ready has festivals that honor certain changes, such as a harvest festival, an annual block party, a yearly parade to commemorate an event in the town’s history, or a natural phenomenon that happens like clockwork (monsoons, fog season, second summer, etc.) These modern-day observances can have just as much power as the commonly accepted sabbats — and even more personal meaning for you because the event directly reflects the spirit of where you live. Remember everything has an origin!

Above is a wonderful display of ancient Greek ritual objects used by the priests and priestesses of the ancient Hellenic, Minoan and Egyptian world.
Nothing more connects me to my magickal ancestors than when I visit the museums of Europe, this one is in Athens. 2000BC Couldrens, drinking cups, ritual containers no wonder I am drawn to the craft.
Magick was part of their everyday life. Temples were overflowing with devotees and ritual of daily devotion. Magick has become part of my daily life too, the only difference is my temple has become the Great Earth Mother or Gaia as the Ancient Greeks knew Her.

Beltane is know as the fertility Esbate, it is the time for the earth to be transformed from the cold and rain of spring to the bright and sunny time of summer. The god is building his strength as the days grow longer and the crops strengthen to give us life through the winter and early spring. The animals are fertile and some are even up to their second or third litter of the year. I saw a fat robin this morning with a big worm in its beak and I was wondering how many little birds she has and how many times so far this year has she raised a brood. (Life is Good)
I love this time of year as the crops start to come up, we as a household will have a wonderful garden this year thanks to Deacon Charles Mead, the days are lengthening so you can work outside for a longer time as evident of the painting I did yesterday.
One of the positive items of this year with the Corona Virus is I have had time to do many home improvement projects to make the ole homestead look the best it has in years, and these will continue through the summer. Thank goodness for the time and the beautiful weather so i can do this for the people I love
I hope you all take a minute or two in the next couple of days and give thanks to Gaia for all her bounty, take your shoes off and walk through the newly green grass or even spread a blanket and lay down and look at the clouds. This is the time of Earth’s abundance take a minute and appreciate the gift in whatever manner you chose to, just know that report, phone call to the boss, work assignment can wait 10 minutes as you pause to enjoy life.

Detach
In the previous series- ‘There is no Time like the Present- Part 7’, I mentioned the power of ‘Release’, such a liberating word. However it is through ‘Detachment’, or non- attachment as it is used in Buddhism, that allows us true liberation from what Buddhists call Samsara or what is known as Karma.
What a wake up call we are receiving now!
A time to reflect, gain clarity, see fairness and evaluate ones responsibilities for themselves, their family, their community and their environment. It is important to recognize such patterns that are destructive as these are what keep us in Samsara. Its starts in your own head and ripples outward. It spills into the family, the community and into the rest of the world. Yes we are all responsible, we are a collective.
