What Planets Will Be Retrograde May 2023?
In May, there will be two planets retrograding through the cosmos: Mercury and Pluto. The fortunate thing is that Mercury will only be retrograde for half of the month, but Pluto, on the other hand, will be retrograde the entire month of May (and beyond). However, since Pluto is the farthest planet from Earth, its retrogrades don’t tend to have as much of an effect as inner planet retrogrades (like Mercury). That being said, this is Pluto’s first retrograde in the fixed air sign of Aquarius in centuries, so it’s bound to be a bit more noticeable than usual.
What To Expect From May 2023’s Retrograde Planets
Mercury Retrograde (April 21-May 15)
Since Mercury has been retrograding through the fixed earth sign of Taurus, you’ve probably already begun to notice some delays, mishaps, and misunderstandings start to arise — specifically in the Taurus-ruled house of your birth chart. The nature of a retrograde is inherently slow and Taurus is a very patient and deliberate sign, things may almost feel as though they’re at a complete standstill right now. However, this moment of silence is giving you an opportunity to hear your thoughts clearly, particularly regarding the ways you seek to establish security and comfort in your life.
The nature of Taurus is all about ensuring longevity, and now is the time to adjust your strategies on how to get there. Then, by the time Mercury stations direct in this sign on May 15, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how to provide yourself with the contentment you’ve been plotting on. It’s also worth mentioning that even when Mercury stations direct, things may still be moving at a slow pace, but they won’t be accompanied by so many setbacks.
Pluto Retrograde (May 1-Oct. 10)
For the first time in generations, Pluto will be stationing retrograde in Aquarius, eventually making its way back into the steady, conservative sign of Capricorn. As the planet of extreme change and reawakening, Pluto brings monumental shifts to the zodiac sign and house in your birth chart it transits through. However, since Pluto is the slowest moving planet in the sky, its changes can feel gradual and almost entirely unnoticeable, especially as you’re in the midst of them. As Pluto stations retrograde in the trailblazing, experimental sign of Aquarius, it marks a final revisit back to the changes Pluto was occupied with in the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn over the last several years.
Since Pluto will be stationing retrograde at 0 degrees of Aquarius, you’re unlikely to notice any major revelations, since its only been in the sign of the water-bearer since March 23. Instead, you’ll notice Pluto’s brief revisit to the Capricorn-ruled house of your birth chart much more as it shifts back into this sign on June 11. There have been gradual transformations unfolding in the sign of structure, tradition, and outdated systems since 2008. Over the last several years, nations have experienced extreme highs and extreme lows — and Pluto’s brief shift back into this sign sets out to finish what was started. As for your personal birth chart, the metamorphosis that has been in progress in this sign will also begin to wrap up, officially as Pluto leaves Capricorn for good sometime in 2024.

April 2023 – Gardening by the Moon, Biodynamic Planting Guide
1) Moon Phase x Moon Zodiac Sign:
Please keep in mind, that Gardening by Moon Phase and Gardening by Moon Zodiac Sign are two different/independent biodynamic systems and they might give you different or contradictiory gardening recommendations.
- a) Each Moon Phase (except Full Moon and New Moon) lasts about 1 week
- b) Each Moon Zodiac Sign lasts about 2.5 days
Try to experiment with these two systems to find which recommendations suits you the most.
2) Tropical (Astrological) x Sidereal (Astronomical) Zodiac:
(1-2 days difference in Leaf, Fruit, Root and Flower days)
There are two different zodiacs for determining the Moon Sign:
- a) Tropical zodiac (Astrological) is based on the seasons – Vernal Equinox is fixed as 0° Aries (The 1st Fruit day)
- b) Sidereal zodiac (Astronomical) takes into account Precession of Equinoxes and shifts 0° Aries back by cca 1-2 days. Maria Thun who was an authority on biodynamics was using this Sidereal zodiac
Try to experiment also with these two zodiac systems to find which system suits you better. (Side Note one system follows the other)

What Planets Will Be Retrograde April 2023?
This month, Mercury will station retrograde for the second time this year, marking an important period of review, refinement, and renegotiation. Although Mercury retrogrades are incredibly common, they still find a way to be somewhat of a nuisance, particularly when it comes to communicating effectively. Fortunately, unlike January, Mercury will be the sole planet retrograde this month, so there shouldn’t be too much chaos. BUT, this retrograde is right on the heels of the first eclipse of 2023, so April’s energy is bound to feel a bit disorderly.
What To Expect From April 2023’s Retrograde Planets
Mercury Retrograde (April 21-May 15)
On April 21, Mercury will station retrograde in the fixed earth sign of Taurus at 15 degrees, bringing forth a period of revisions, reevaluations, and reflections in everyone’s birth chart. Mercury retrograde is a time to rethink ideas, perspectives, and viewpoints that you’ve been uncertain about, to get a better understanding of how you’d like to move forward. In the security-oriented sign of Taurus, Mercury’s concerned with establishing a strong sense of stability. However, as the planet of communication retrogrades through this sign, it may not feel incredibly easy to do so. While change may not be easy now, it’s important not to become too rigid with what brings you comfort, particularly when it comes to your mindset. Be sure to consider the different ways that you can obtain the ease and comfort you seek, because it may be in a way that you haven’t thought of before.
The Taurus-ruled house in your birth chart is where you can expect the most upheaval, especially since Mercury will be conjunct Uranus, the planet of disruption and sudden change, when it stations. This area of your chart is where you tend to crave the most consistency in your life, so it may not feel super comfy embracing adjustments here — at least until Mercury stations direct on May 15. Try to remain as flexible as you can now, even if you feel like what’s familiar to you is changing. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Pink Moon: Full Moon for April 2023
From the Old Farmer’s Almanac
Prepare for the Full Pink Moon—and the Paschal Full Moon!
April’s full Moon drifts into the sky on the night of Wednesday, April 5, reaching peak illumination at 12:37 A.M. EDT on the 6th! Traditionally called the Pink Moon, this full Moon is also the Paschal full Moon this year. Here’s everything you should know about the Moon this month, including facts, folklore, and Moon phase dates.
When to See the Full Moon in April 2023
Venture outside on the night of Wednesday, April 5, to catch a glimpse of April’s full Pink Moon. This full Moon actually reaches peak illumination at 12:37 A.M. Eastern Time on Thursday, April 6, which means that it will be at its peak on the night of April 5 in more westerly time zones.
For the best view of this lovely spring Moon, find an open area and watch as the Moon rises just above the horizon, at which point it will appear its biggest and take on a golden hue! (Find local Moon rise and set times here.)
Paschal Full Moon: The First Full Moon of Spring
This year, April’s full Moon is the first full Moon of the spring season, which began with the spring equinox on March 20, 2023. This means that April’s full Moon is the Paschal Full Moon—an important Moon to those who celebrate Easter, since Easter’s date depends on the date of the Paschal Full Moon.
Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the Paschal Full Moon (i.e., the first full Moon of spring), which means that it will be celebrated this year on Sunday, April 9 (following the full Moon on April 5-6).
Why Is It Called the Pink Moon?
The full Moon names used by The Old Farmer’s Almanac come from a number of places, including Native American, Colonial American, and European sources. Traditionally, each full Moon name was applied to the entire lunar month in which it occurred, not only to the full Moon.
The Pink Moon
Although we wish this name had to do with the color of the Moon, the reality is not quite as mystical or awe-inspiring. In truth, April’s full Moon often corresponded with the early springtime blooms of a certain wildflower native to eastern North America: Phlox subulata—commonly called creeping phlox or moss phlox—which also went by the name “moss pink.”
Thanks to this seasonal association, this full Moon came to be called the “Pink” Moon!
Alternative April Moon Names
In April Moon names, references to spring abound! Breaking Ice Moon (Algonquin) and Moon When the Streams Are Again Navigable (Dakota) reference the melting ice and increased mobility of the early spring season, while Budding Moon of Plants and Shrubs (Tlingit) and Moon of the Red Grass Appearing (Oglala) speak to the plant growth that will soon kick into high gear.
Other names refer to the reappearance of certain animals, including Moon When the Ducks Come Back (Lakota), Moon When the Geese Lay Eggs (Dakota), and Frog Moon (Cree). Along the same vein, Sucker Moon (Anishinaabe) notes the time to harvest sucker fish, which return to streams or lake shallows to spawn. According to legend, now is the time when this fish comes back from the spirit world to purify bodies of water and the creatures living in them. (This name may also be applied to the February Moon, to honor the sacrifice of the sucker fish in order to feed the Anishinaabe peoples, traditionally helping them to survive the winter.)

April’s Full Pink Moon
April’s full moon is widely known as the Full Pink Moon, even though it doesn’t actually turn pastel pink as the name suggests. The Full Pink Moon’s name comes from the abundance of moss phlox, a common little pink flower that typically begins to spread across the ground in early spring. With that said, this creeping phlox is not the only thing that begins blooming during the Full Pink Moon.
In many Native American tribes, April’s full moon is associated with the bustling life and vibrant growth of spring. In Sioux culture, it’s named after the sprouting of red grass. The Comanche tribe called it the New Spring Moon, and both the Tlingit and Sioux tribes referred to it as the Budding Moon, after the new plants that begin to bud and sprout during spring. The Cherokee tribe even called it the Flower Moon (though that name is also sometimes used to refer to May’s full moon), and celebrated it for the growth of useful medicinal plants and magical herbs.
At the same time, April is a time when rivers and streams begin to fully thaw. Accordingly, the Shoshone tribe named April’s full moon the Full Melting Moon, and the Arapaho tribe called it the Moon Where Ice Breaks in the River. It was also known as the Fish Moon because of the fish that would begin to swim upstream during this time. The Cherokees believed that flowing water was under the control of a spirit called the Long Man, and so would perform rituals to honor him during the Full Pink Moon. An example of a ritual like this was the Knee Deep Dance, based off the movements of the Water Frog. The Assiniboine tribe also called April’s full moon the Frog Moon.
Water is not the only thing that starts to flow during the Full Pink Moon – this is also the time where maple sap begins to flow in earnest, marking the true beginning of the incredibly important sugar-making season. The Abenaki tribes called April’s full moon the Sugar Maker Moon, and the Ojibwe called it the Sugarbush Moon. The Ojibwe tribe would journey north to their spring camps to tap maple syrup and engage in spear fishing. Maple syrup was integral to Ojibwe culture: not only was it a crucial method of seasoning all their foods (they did not have access to salt at that time), but it also symbolized harmony within the community and with the forces of nature around them.
The Full Pink Moon also holds religious significance in other cultures. For example, in Islamic communities around the world, April’s full moon is celebrated as Bara’at Night, also known as the Night of Innocence. Muslims offer up prayers, asking God to absolve dead ancestors of their sins. They also prepare sweet desserts such as halwa or zarda and give it out to children, the needy, and other members of their community. Meanwhile, Christians call it the Paschal Moon, and celebrate the first Sunday after April’s full moon as Easter Sunday. It’s possible that the reason why the Easter Bunny brings eggs is because April’s full moon is also known as the Egg Moon, given that animals such as geese begin mating and laying eggs in spring.

The Full Moon
The Full Moon
This is a good time to try out forms of divinations such as scrying or tarot. Reflect about your goals, feelings and matters that have to do with relationship and family. It is also good for transformations, psychic abilities, strength, love, power and fertility.
The Full Moon is also an excellent time to cleanse, purify and charge your crystals. Lay them out so that the moonlight can hit them; if you can do so safely, leave them outside. If not, find a windowsill that catches the moonlight. Don’t just stop at crystals though, your magical tools will also benefit from soaking up the power of the moonlight.
As the Full Moon just passes, the time arrives to put the finishing touches on what you have been doing and to get ready for the quieter time to come. Enjoy beauty and art, listen to music. If you have argued with someone but do not feel the issues are really vital, make up now.
If you live near the sea the Full Moon is a wonderful time to visit the shoreline and (if safe and legal to do so) build a small fire. Collect small pieces of driftwood to buid your fire and, as you lay each piece onto the fire, add a wish. Once the fire is burning nicely, cast offerings into the flames as gifts to the Moon Goddess, such as herbs, flowers and leaves. Sit and watch as the fire burns. If you don’t live near the sea you could turn this into a visualization for a Full Moon meditation.

March Astrology Events Taking Place in 2023

From msn.com
Ready to stop and smell the roses? March astrology events not only usher in a new season—hello, spring equinox—but a new mindset that’ll help us embrace deep transformations.
There’s a lot to jot down, so we hope you have your 2023 planners handy (which make great astrology gifts, as you likely know).
March astrology events in 2023
This month, we will part ways with Pisces season, enter Aries season and gear up for the “hugely impactful movements” headed our way, according to our March 2023 horoscope. If you’re curious to see what the stars have in store, allow our cosmic experts to give you the scoop on the Universe’s next moves.
(Oh, and better enjoy the calm before the storm—no planets are in retrograde, but that will change come April with none other than Mercury retrograde 2023.)
Pisces Season
- When: February 18 to March 20, 2023
Pisces season 2023 is making room for the newness that’s about to enter your life this spring.
“Clearing out the old is exactly what will make you thrive during and after this season,” Nebula’s astrologer, Patrick Price previously told us. “To do this, you must declutter. And, yes, this means your physical space and things, but also the mental and emotional.”
Jupiter conjuncts Venus
- When: March 1, 2023
When Venus conjuncts Jupiter, things will feel auspicious, particularly for the luckiest star sign in March.
The Full Moon
- When: March 7, 2023
The March full moon 2023 is going to be an exciting lunation for everyone, regardless of what their astrological birth charts say.
“There is a lot of positivity to look forward to around the full moon: increased clarity, bold action-taking, attracting money easily and even connecting meaningfully with loved ones,” Price, previously told us.
The New Moon
- When: March 21, 2023
“The new moon in Aries at the end of March is one of our last chances to set lunar intentions and manifestations before the first eclipse portal begins in April,” says astrologer Liz Simmons. “The new moon is bold, fresh and fiery—a perfect lunation to ring in the astrological new year and spring.”
Spring Equinox
- When: March 21, 2023
It’s like spring cleaning for the stars. The equinox is a motivating and rejuvenating experience.
“It’s a time of renewed energy, motivation and outward focus, so reach out to friends and start putting a fire under your personal goals,” astrologer Nina Kahn previously told us.
Aries season
- When: March 21 to April 20, 2023
It’s OK to be a little selfish during Aries season—it’s actually encouraged.
“It’s a great time to set intentions for you as a person, not including anything else or anyone else in that vision,” Simmons said. “[It’s time to] do things for us: honor ourselves, honor our bodies and do things that work for us.”
Happy March, friends! Enjoy all that the cosmos have to offer.
