Let’s Talk Witch – Energy Play

Egyptian Comments & GraphicsLet’s Talk Witch – Energy Play

The energy and magickal powers at work in Wicca are real. They aren’t of some astral plane. They’re within the Earth and ourselves. They maintain life. We daily deplete our store of energy and replenish it through the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the powers that stream down from the Sun and Moon.

Know that this power is physical. Yes, it’s mysterious, but only because so few investigate it in magical ways. Following are some exercises to help you do just that.

Calm yourself. Breathe deeply. Rub your palms together for twenty seconds. Start slowly and rub faster and faster. Feel your muscles tense. Feel your palms grow warm. Then, suddenly, stop and hold your palms about two inches from each other. Feel them tingling? That’s a manifestation of power. By rubbing your palms together and using the muscles in your arms and shoulders you’re raising energy-magical power. It’s flowing out from your palms as you hold them apart.

If you don’t feel anything, practice this once or twice a day until you have success. Remember, don’t force yourself to feel the power. Trying harder won’t accomplish anything. Relax andallow yourself to feel what’s been there all the time.

After you’ve actually sensed this energy, begin to fashion it into shapes. Use your visualization to do this. Directly after rubbing your hands, while they’re still tingling, visualize jolts of energy-perhaps electric blue or purple-passing from your right (projective) palm to your left (receptive) palm. If you’re left-handed, reverse the directions.

Now envision this energy slowly swirling in a clockwise direction tion between your palms. Form it into a ball of glowing, pulsating magical energy. See its dimensions, its colors. Feel its force and heat in your palms.

This is a bit of energy which you’ve released from your body. There’s nothing supernatural about it. Cup your hands around the ball. Make it grow or decrease in size through your visualization. Finally push it into your stomach and absorb it back into your system. This is not only great fun but is a valuable magical learning experience. When you’ve mastered the art of energy spheres, go onto feel energy fields.

Sit or stand before any plant. Herbs and plants in bloom seem to work best. Ina pinch, cut flowers can be used as well. Breathe deeply for a few moments and clear your thoughts. Hold your receptive (left) palm a few inches above the plant. Pinpoint your consciousness to your palm. Do you feel a dull throbbing, a hum, a wave of heat, or simply a shift in the energies within your palm? Do you feel the inner force of the plant?

If so, good-you’ve felt energy. After you’ve accomplished this, try sensing the energies of stones and crystals. Place a quartz crystal, say, on a table and pass your receptive hand over the crystal. Stretch out with your feelings and become aware of the non-visible but viable energies that pulsate within the crystal.
All natural objects, remember, are manifestations of divine energy. With practice we can feel the power that resides within them.

If you have difficulty feeling these powers, rub your palms lightly together to sensitize them and try again.

This energy is the same power we’re filled with when we’re angry, nervous, terrified, joyous or sexually aroused. It’s the energy used in magic, whether we pull it from ourselves or channel it from the Goddess and God, plants, stones and other objects. It is the stuff of creation which we utilize in magic.

Now that you’ve felt the power, use visualization to move it around. You needn’t rub your palms together to raise energy-you can do this simply by concentrating on doing so. One of the easiest methods is to tighten up the muscles-tense your body. This raises energy, which is why we must relax in meditation. Meditation lowers our energy and allows us to drift from this world.

When you feel yourself bursting with power, hold out your right (projective) hand and direct energy from your body, through your arm and out your fingers. Use your visualization. Really see and feel it streaming out.

For practice, stand in your home. Build the power within you. Direct it into each room, visualizing it sinking into the cracks and walls and around doors and windows. You’re not creating a psychic burglar alarm but a magical protectant, so visualize the energy forming an impenetrable barrier across which no negativity or intruders can cross.

After “sealing” the house, halt the flow of energy. You can do this by visualizing it stopping and by shaking your hand. Sense your protective-powered energy resting within the walls. A secure, safe feeling should flood through you as you stand within your now guarded home.

Yes, you’ve done this with your mind, but also with power. Energy is real, and your ability to manipulate energy determines the effectiveness of your circles and rituals.

Work with feeling and directing the power daily. Make this a sort of magical play until you reach the point where you won’t have to stop and think, “Can I do it? Can I raise the power?”

You’ll know you can.

WOTC Extra (b) – Visible Circles

WitchVisible Circles

Visible circles aren’t necessarily more effective, however, their clear boundaries may provide additional peace for the mind of the person within as well as security. You’re less likely to accidentally venture outside the perimeter if you can see it. It is crucial that the circle be unbroken.

Powerful protective circles may be cast from the following:
Absinthe
Amber chunks or beads
Chalk
Charcoal
Coral
Cornmeal
Fiery wall of protection powder
Flour Henna powder
Jet
Lava
Pemba
Red brick dust or Red Ochre
Rice flour
Rum
Salt
Sand
Tobacco
Turquoise
Vervain
Vermilion
Whiskey

WOTC Extra (a) – Circle Casting

WitchCircle Casting

An incredibly simple yet amazing protection spell is accomplished by casting a circle. Just as children play tag and they have designated zone( s) the other playmates cannot enter, so is like casting a circle. The circle is designated as “safe”. No malevolent spiritual force can touch or harm your while within the circle.

In addition to personal protective magic circles, circles are traditionally cast to contain threshold experiences as well as whatever is perceive as potentially vulnerable

*Circles are drawn around rituals
* Circles are drawn around sickbeds
* Circles are drawn around woman in childbirth
* Circles are drawn around sleeping children and infants.

Your Time of Personal Power

By keeping records of your spellwork, you should be able to figure out which days of the week or time of day your spells tend to work. Perhaps there’s a particular time of day or time during the moon cycle when you feel as if you could do anything, when raising energy is easy, when you can focus easily and tune out distractions with no problem. This, then, would be a power time for you.
Your power time is an alternate timing bonus for you. It’s like a secret weapon: you can default to casting a spell during your power time and know that it will have just as much impact as scheduling the spell for 7: 38 on a Thursday evening during the waning moon might have.
To pinpoint your power time, look through your spell journal. Your notes concerning the immediate results will be important: how did you feel during the actual casting of the spell itself? Conscientious maintenance of short-term and long-term results will be important as well. Look at the time, moon phase, or moon sign of the successful spells. Is there a pattern? Are you particularly on the ball when the moon is in Pisces, or in Virgo? Perhaps casting during the hour of Mars is the key to your success. Take a look at the weather as well. It may be that clear sunny days or cool evenings are your power times.
Everyone’s power time is different. You also might have more than one power time, which might make it difficult to narrow down. Don’t worry; the more often you cast spells, the clearer it will become.

Let’s Talk Witch – Timing of Manifestation

goth witchTIMING OF MANIFESTATION

A common question associated with timing concerns how long you’ll have to wait until you see the results of your efforts. There is no hard and fast rule about when success will manifest, and this is due to a number of variables such as the degree of concentration and focus, the amount of energy that went into the spell, the kinds of obstacles and challenges you are working against, and what your goal is.

As a general rule, however, your evaluation ought to be connected to the method of timing you employed in your spell. As I mentioned above, if you choose to cast a spell timed to a season, look for the manifestation of results to be reflected in that temporal process. One of the reasons why spellcrafters tend to use moon cycles more frequently than solar cycles is because the moon goes through a full cycle in approximately twenty-eight days, as opposed to the sun’s 365-day cycle. A standard practice is to wait one full lunar cycle before you evaluate the spell’s progress; that means if you haven’t seen any movement whatsoever concerning your problem within about twenty-eight days, note it down in your records and think about what to do next. Do you want to do a small spell to raise energy to support the original spell?

By the second lunar cycle after your spell (that’s just under two months), if you still haven’t seen any movement concerning your situation, it’s time to evaluate again. Do you want to recast the spell? Do you want to do another spell to remove obstacles?

In your first and second monthly evaluations, you’ll have to make a personal choice between leaving the original spell to do the work you sent it out to do, undisturbed; supporting the original spell by raising and sending it more energy; or redoing the spell completely. Have patience, and have faith.

Even though you may not see significant changes, the energy of a spell has a lot of little things to shift and nudge in order to rebalance a situation. It can take a while for any kind of result to become obvious.

If, by the time the moon has cycled three times after your original spell (that’s just under three months), you still haven’t felt or seen any change, then abandon the spell and approach the situation differently, perhaps with a different spell, a rephrased need, or a simplified goal.

A common error on the part of spellcasters is to assume that their spell isn’t working and to cast it again soon after the original spell. Ours is a society which functions on instant gratification, and patience is not one of our strong points; we forget that life moves in cycles, and that nature is not about to jump the tracks just to hand us our hearts’ desires. Scrapping your spell simply because it hasn’t demonstrated dramatic change is like throwing the proverbial baby out with the bath water. There’s a bunch of your energy out there, patiently toiling away to slowly reform reality in accordance to your will. If you recast the spell, or create a new spell to do the same thing, you’re not only telling your subconscious that you don’t trust it, you’re ordering the energy out there to stop in its tracks.

Remember, more often is not necessarily better. If you keep stirring those energies, you can stir them right off course.

Create Your Own Moon Spells

Create Your Own Moon Spells

Because of the very nature of Magic, each working should be highly individualized and personal. Even if following a traditional spell, it should be tailored to your specific needs to be most effective for you.
Understanding the basics of Spell Construction will enable you to formulate your own specific, effective spells for any purpose you desire. Preliminary planning is necessary.
The very first step is to decide precisely what your desired end result is to be.
Before you can start, you must decide where you are going. You must be very explicit. It is important, also, that you choose your time carefully. You should take into consideration all Astrological implications, energy currents and Moon phases.

The Moon is the astronomical body closest to us and, therefore, has a profound influence upon us, it is very important to choose a time when the Moon is in an astrological sign which is appropriate for your working.
For example: Aries/Action – Enthusiasm,

Taurus/ Renewal – Sensuality,

Gemini/Communication – Curiosity,

Cancer/ Emotion – Nurturing,

Leo/Vitality – Determined,

Virgo/Organizing – Studious,

Libra/Balance -Cooperation,

Scorpio/Sexual – Philosophical,

Capricorn/Authority – Ambitious,

Aquarius/Innovation – Social,

Pisces/Sensitivity – Idealistic.
Bear in mind that magickal workings for gain, increase or bringing things to you,
should be initiated when the Moon is Waxing (from Dark to Full); when the Moon is Waning (from Full to Dark), it is time for magical workings of decrease or sending away.
The highest energy occurs at the Full Moon and, therefore, this is the most powerful time for magical workings. The New Moon is the next most powerful time for Magic.

WOTC Extra – Fine-Tuning an Unethical Spell

Fine-Tuning an Unethical Spell

As mentioned earlier, there will be times when you choose the “less wrong” action. Reality doesn’t exist in black and white terms. Everything is painted in shades of gray. In addition, the concept of working a spell to change someone else’s situation without their knowledge and consent is perceived as being unethical in itself in the spellcasting community. However, you’ve already established that doing nothing is unethical. Which unethical action do you choose? Remember too that sometimes the correct way to deal with a situation is to do nothing at all, as you may not have all the facts, and your interference may further degenerate the issue. When you cast spells for or upon yourself, this question of ethics rarely comes up.

When you decide to use spellwork to deal with a situation beyond your immediate control, however, the question of ethics immediately arises. In spellcrafting workshops, I often ask students if they would cast a spell to limit someone else’s freedom. They are usually horrified, and protest that they would never do such a thing. Then I suggest a situation such as a serial rapist on the loose in their neighborhood. Would they not do a spell to limit the rapist’s freedom by being caught by the police? Some students say that they would do spells to protect the neighborhood. Wouldn’t it be easier to arrest one individual than attempt to protect thousands? And doesn’t that arrest accomplish the same goal: ensuring the safety of the neighborhood? Sometimes, spellwork for the needs of the many outweighs preserving the needs or rights of the few.

This, however, is a decision only you can make, and only you can draw the line separating ethical from unethical spellcasting. If you decide to act, then commit yourself completely to your decision. Don’t halve your efforts just to cover your bases. If you’re going to do it, do it, and accept the responsibility.

Let’s Talk Witch – Fine-Tuning An Ethical Spell

FINE-TUNING AN ETHICAL SPELL

When you encounter a situation that you wish to improve with a spell, there are a few things to ask yourself first in order to keep your spell ethical.

1. Who is involved in this situation?

2. Who is affected by this situation?

3. How do I wish to change it?

4. What are the potential repercussions?

These questions will probably remind you of the first steps in crafting a spell. These four questions, however, pinpoint the ethical aspects of spellcrafting. Let’s look at them one by one.

Who Is Involved in This Situation?

This question helps you remember that there are real people with their own lives, hopes, fears, and goals involved in the situation. Every situation is a tangle of energy strands connecting people, emotions, places, and objects. For example, if your significant other is being hassled by his or her boss at work, then the people involved are your significant other and the boss. Some judicious questioning or investigation will reveal the presence of others about which you might not know.

Who Is Affected by This Situation?

Each of the people directly involved in the situation are also connected to other people. What affects the people directly involved can also indirectly affect people not involved. Taking the example from the previous paragraph, the boss’s family is also affected by the situation, as well as the other members of the work environment, and yourself.

How Do I Wish to Change It?

There are several different methods with which to address a problem. You could do a spell to have the boss fired; to have the boss transferred and replaced by someone else; to have the boss hassled by his or her own superiors; to have your significant other transferred; to have your significant other offered another, better job at another company; to improve communication between the boss and your significant other; to win the lottery so that your significant other no longer has to work; to charm the boss into adoring your significant other; the list is endless.

What Are the Potential Repercussions?

When you decide upon a goal, think abut what the repercussions will be. What you can do to address a problem is not necessarily what you should do. If you’re being drawn to casting a spell for something less than ethical, such as having the boss fired, then look back to the second question. Who will be affected by that solution? The family of the boss.

Look at it in terms of what it might do for your significant other, as well. If the boss is fired, then someone has to temporarily take up the slack, and that’s likely to be your significant other’s team or department. Stress will mount; people will start to hassle one another; your own relationship with your partner might become strained. The person eventually brought in to replace the boss will need time to learn the dynamics of the department, and until that replacement has become completely comfortable, things will be awkward. Perhaps the replacement will be even worse than the original boss was.

Do your best to develop a solution that is for the best for everyone involved. Remember that energy travels out along those strands of the energy web. You also will be affected by the web’s vibration.

Ritual for Beltane Coven Gathering on 4/30/2015

04-la-wicca

Picture from: http://www.venusvoyance.com/wicca-vieille-religion-devenue-religion-nouvelle/ .If you go to the siteit is all in French.

I thought would share how I will be doing the sacred circle April 30th at 6:15 PM CT in the Chat Room. For more information click on Coven Life banner on right side of this page. This will take you to Coven Life Home page scroll down just a little and you will see the post for this gathering. I will be typing the ritual into the chat room as I do each part, so everyone can follow where we are. I ask that no one else post in the chat room during the ritual please. Thank you. Hope to see you tomorrow.

If you want to empower candles during the ritual as I will be doing, you will need to have a 1 yellow taper candle and 1 green taper candle. Length is your choice depending on how many gardens you will be taking them to, to use the power from. To give power from the candles to your garden:

To give power from the candles to your garden: Light candles hold them sideways so some wax can drip from them onto the ground. You will want to hold the candle over each corner of each garden. As you do light the candle, hold both in your power hand (the hand you write with) if possible, say: Candle burning bright. Release your power with all its might.

BELTANE COVEN GATHERING RITUAL

I am in my backyard for this ritual. I am lucky my neighbors have grown use to me doing them and do not talk to me now when they see my altar set up.

I will be closing the circle around us:

With Sword pointed at the ground: I call upon Fire to guard this circle from all things negative outside of it.

With Sword pointed at shoulder level: I call upon Water to keep this circle safe from all things negative.

With Sword above head: I call upon Air to keep this circle safe from all things negative.

Lay sword on altar.

Facing East: Power of ancient dreams, ancestors of the mighty east

Come forth, O guardians of Air.

Let your wings of intelligence my protection be

Hear this call, let my words draw you near.

Lock the gate that none may pass unless

They come in love and trust. Blessed Be!

Facing South: Power of ancient dreams, ancestors of the mighty south

Come forth, O guardians of Fire.

May your firey breath cleanse my work.

Hear this call, let my words draw you near.

Lock the gate that none may pass unless

They come in love and trust. Blessed Be!

Facing West: Power of ancient dreams, ancestors of the mighty west

Come forth, O guardians of Water.

May your sweeping waters bring protection all around.

Hear this call, let my words draw you near.

Lock the gate that none may pass unless

They come in love and trust. Blessed Be!

Facing North: Power of ancient dreams, ancestors of the mighty north

Come forth, O guardians of Earth.

Let the North Star crown your brow.

Hear this call, let my words draw you near.

Lock the gate that none may pass unless

They come in love and trust. Blessed Be!

This circle is now closed around us and I say: We stand in a place that is not a place, in a time that is outside of time. I welcome you in perfect love and perfect trust. Merry Meet and Merry greet.

I invoke Morrigan to come into our circle. I invoke the Green Man to come into our circle.

Waiting for the power to rise and the deities to enter.

Sitting before me is a green candle on my right and a yellow candle in my right.

With my pointer finger on each candle I say,

“I empower these candles with love and light,

to keep my plants healthy from blight.

They will bless my gardens from sunrise to sunrise,

My harvest from ,my plants will be my prize.

With my finger on the green candle I say, “Morrigan I ask you to infuse this candle with your power and energy to help my plants be bountiful and prosper.”

With my finger on the yellow candle I say, “Green Man I ask you to infuse this candle with your power and energy to help my plants be bountiful and prosper.”

These are my words, This is my will, so mote it be.

I pick up the chalice from the altar which has sparkling grape juice in it: Morrigan and Green Man I offer you libations in thanks for your power and energy to enhance my spell. I thank you Mother Earth, Ra, Rain and wind for helping my gardens to grow and be bountiful. I offer these libation to you. I then pour a bit of juice on to the ground.

I pick up the plate from my altar (which has some crackers on it): Morrigan and Green Man I offer this substance to you in thanks for your power and energy to enhance my spell. I thank you Mother Earth, Ra, rain and wind for helping my gardens to grow and be bountiful. I offer this substance to you. I than crumble a couple on to the ground.

I ring the bell on my altar: I ask the Fea folk to watch over my gardens and to help them grow. In thanks I offer you this ginger, butter and cake.

Before dismissing the Watchtowers and opening the circle I say: May no harm come to those within or without as my spell takes hold

I dismiss the Watchtowers starting in the North and walking counter clockwise/witthershins.

Earth I now send you back for where you came with thanks for your protection and power you have given this circle.

Water I now send you back for where you came with thanks for your protection and power you have given this circle.

Fire I now send you back for where you came with thanks for your protection and power you have given this circle.

Air I now send you back for where you came with thanks for your protection and power you have given this circle.

Walking counter clockwise/witthershins

Holding my sword above my head Air I send you back from where you came with heartfelt thanks for your protection.

Holding my sword at should height Water I send you back from where you came with heartfelt thanks for your protection

Holding my sword towards the ground Fire I send you back from where you came with heartfelt thanks for your protection

The circle is now closed. May you go from it with peace and love. Merry part  until we merry meet again.

WOTC Extra – Top 5 Reasons We Don’t Get What We Want in Life

Nature Comments & Graphics

Top 5 Reasons We Don’t Get What We Want in Life

#5: We Think We Have to “Make it Happen”

Having to “make things happen” is difficult it involves long hours, hard work, and lots of worry. Thinking about making things happen makes most of us tired, so we just stop trying.

As children, we learned early and often that we have to physically create whatever we want, starting with getting good grades in school so we can get into a good college, get a good job, and live happily ever after. Weve got phrases like, Youve got to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and If you want something done right, you’ve got to do it yourself.”

The truth is that we do make some things happen, but most of the time we create with the Universe’s help. It’s like we’re sitting in the Universal restaurant and ordering off a menu: “I’d like the new job for an appetizer, the red car well done as an entrée, and a fabulous soul mate for dessert.” The Universe takes our order and serves it up and the only thing we have to pay at the end of the meal is our appreciation and gratitude. Now thats a cheap date!

Did you know that there is an angel, guide, totem, and helper for just about everything in life? Whether you want a new job, a new mate, or just a shift in your life ( three degrees to the right, please”), there is a Universal being just waiting to help you. All you have to do is ask.

Daily rituals remind us that we’re just doing the asking, and the Universe (and all its helpful beings) is handling the delivery. These rituals remind us to relax and just ask!

#4: We Are Afraid of Failure

Because we are not taught in school how to attract what we want, and because we don’t get a lot of practice, most of us feel that we are failures when it comes to getting what we want. We hate failure, so we give up on our desires and just accept whatever meager servings life puts on our plate.

The truth is that we are all fabulous co-creators in collaboration with the Universe, and we never fail. Sometimes we don’t create what we want, but we’re always creating we cant help it. Humans are born to create, all the time. Whats more, most of the time we do create what we want in life. We just become impatient and move on to our next desires before our first creation has manifested. As a result, we end up settling for less, and never see the results of our original creations!

Rituals of magic and witchcraft bring that creative process up to the conscious level, making us aware of the actual creation sequence. We begin to see the connection between what we ask for and what we get as a result.

Once we are aware of this creation process, we become much more confident creators and we pick up those old dreams and desires we abandoned long ago.

#3: We Are Hypnotized by Daily Life

As a society we have become so hypnotized by the hum of daily life that we forget to create consciously. If you want to see how hypnotic daily life is, check in with your thoughts first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Chances are, your thoughts will be about all the things you have to do during the coming day, or all the things that happened during the past day. Your big desires and dreams probably dont even figure in those thoughts!

Between day planners, smart phones, and tablets, we are sunk up to our eyebrows in the concerns of daily life. We become so engaged in making our daily lives work that we forget everything else. We are transformed from humans to robots.

A magical or witchcraft practice can help us create contact with Spirit, and maintain that contact throughout the day. Our Spirits are the keepers of our dreams, desires, and life lessons. When we are in touch with Spirit, we remember ourselves and why we are in body on this planet. Spirit keeps us in touch with our Spirit path, and helps us walk through our daily lives with purpose and meaning. When we are Spirit-led, we are no longer hypnotized by daily life, but use the tools of daily life to achieve our Spirit dreams.

#2: Negativity is Popular

If you’ve been around the metaphysical community at all, you’ve probably heard about the principle that we attract into our lives what we focus on. In other words, the sum of our thoughts and feelings (both positive and negative) create the events and people in our lives. So if you want to create your desires in life, all you have to do is think positive thoughts and feel positive vibes. Sounds simple, right?

Unfortunately, in our society it’s easier said than done. Negativity is so popular in our society that we’re often branded as “Pollyannas” if we’re too upbeat and popular. Just turn on the TV and watch any news program or sitcom. The news programs report mainly on disasters or gloom and doom predictions, while the sitcoms are all about characters insulting each other with sarcastic remarks.

We’ve become so accustomed to these negative forms of communication that it actually feels odd to think, feel, and act in a positive way. Being positive means we have a hard time fitting into the gossipy conversations that have become the norm in daily life.

The good news is that witchcraft rituals, done regularly, move us out of the negative spheres of influence and attract similarly positive people and events into our lives. These rituals give us the extra courage and confidence to stand in the positive flow of consciousness rather than the negative. Plus, they help us remember our dreams, and to think and feel in alignment with those dreams.

#1: We Don’t Believe We Can Be, Do, and Have Everything We Want

With phrases like, “You can’t have your cake and eat it, too,” who can blame us for giving up on our dreams? We’re taught that whenever we want something, we have to give up something else.

The truth is that this Universe is limitless from the human perspective. We can ask for and create anything and everything we want, and there is still enough left over for everyone else. We live in a continuously expanding Universe, where we are all creating more and more and more. As humans, we can’t ask for enough creation to exceed the Universal limit.

Our job as humans is to create. We are here to experience the process of creation, of being, doing, and having everything we want. Rituals of witchcraft or magic connect us with Universal helpers who can assist us in the process. These rituals also connect us with the understanding that the Universe is limitless, and we can keep asking to our heart’s content!

The WOTC Extra – Template for Spell and Ceremony

This guide can be used to help you create spells for every occasion.

It lists all the materials, tools and stages that may be included in a spell but you will not need to use every item every time – some you will only use for formal rituals.

Preparation

* Choose the subject matter of your spell, bearing in mind the Threefold Law.

* Note down the purpose of the spell and the order in which you intend to work. Decide whether it will be divided into phases, such as invoking the four elements, raising and releasing the power or merge into one.

* Plan what you are going to say and write it down. (You may of course let the words come to you spontaneously.)

* Choose the time for your spell. Check the following influences:

The seasons

The equinoxes

The phase of the Moon

The day of the week

The hour

* Check any time limits (for example, ‘May this spell hold sway until the Moon has ebbed away’) and ensure that you can adhere to them.

* Choose the place for your spell. If you are working out of doors, and it is a spell that will last over several days, bear in mind any possible changes in the weather. Make sure you have enough room for the circle you intend to cast. Set up your altar in advance, if you can.

* Choose candles for the altar, to mark the quadrants of the circle and to represent people. Check they are the right colour. Choose elemental candles.

* Inscribe your candles.

* Anoint your candles.

* Choose your associated symbols that will act as a focus for the spell.

* Choose your elemental tools.

* Choose your herbs. Decide if you are going to empower them before or during the ceremony and write down the words if necessary. Make any sachets or poppets you intend to use.

* Choose your oils.

* Choose your incenses.

* Choose your crystals.

* Choose your ritual substances.

The Ceremony

* Cast your circle.

* Invoke the elements and angels.

* Focus on the symbol of the spell and declare your intentions.

* Endow the symbol with magical energies, chanting if appropriate.

* Consecrate the ritual substances.

* Raise the power to absorb energy from the cosmos, creating a cone of power.

* Release the power, sending it out into the cosmos.

* Close the energies down.

* Uncast the circle.

* Ground the energies.

After The Ceremony

* Dispose of materials – some may need to be left out in the light of the Moon, or buried or thrown to the winds; others may be kept, wrapped in silk, or sent to the person for whom the spell is intended.

* Blow out all the candles, unless they are to be left to burn down. If this is the case, make sure there is no risk of fire.

* Cleanse and recharge your tools

WOTC Extra – Steps and Procedures for Forming Your Own Spells

Following the steps below will help you create spells that are just as effective as those you learn from a book or another practitioner.

1. Boil down the purpose of the spell to a word a short phrase.

2. Find the ingredients suited to your goal.

3. Determine the best possible timing for the spell.

4. Decide if you want to include an affirmation or incantation. If so, write it so that it describes your components and your goals.

5. Cleanse and bless all the item you will be using as part of the spell.

6. Consider any actions that might help support the magick and where best to insert them in the spell-casting process (for example, lighting a candle at the outset to illustrate your intention).

7. Prepare yourself and the space where you’ll cast the spell.

8. Focus your will to raise energy and guide it mentally toward your objective, then release it and trust in the outcome.

9. Keep a journal (or grimoire) of your results for future reference.

It is not necessary to always every step of this process. There will be moments when you can’t conduct a spell at “just the right time” or when you don’t have perfectly suitable components. Some spells don’t require numerous ingredients or actions–a visualization or simple statement of intent maybe all that’s necessary. Your thoughts and your will are the most important components of any spell; the rest are optional.

Let’s Talk Witch: Adapting A Spell for Your Own Needs

Today you will find many books on spellcraft that contain instructions for casting spells. You can also purchase ready-made kits that include all the ingredients necessary for a spell. Nonetheless, if those instructions or ingredients don’t make sense to you or break your personal ethics, the spell will not work.

The best spells are those you create yourself or adapt to suit your own purpose. The process of collecting ingredients, preparing them, and designing the steps of your spell focuses your mind on your intention and adds energy to the spell. Sometimes you must adapt a tried and true spell because you can’t get the designated components. For example, if you lived in New England and used ash leaves or bark in protection spells but then moved to Texas, you would not be able to find such plant life; you could then compensate by substituting another ingredient, such as basil.

With the pervious example in mind, it’s easy to see that there will be many times when a Witch or Wiccan will want to adapt a spell or devise oone of her own. How do you begin the process? Adapting a spell is far easier than creating one, so let’s start there. When a Witch examines a spell, she looks for continuity and comprehensiveness.

Do the spell target your goal through its words, actions and components?

Does it do so on a multisensual level (involving your hearing, sight, touch, taste, and smell)?

Does every part of the spell make sense and excite your higher sentiments?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, try to find a substitute. To illustrate, many old love spells call for blood as components. But modern awareness of disease (or squeamishness) might make blood inappropriate. Instead a witch could use red wine. The red juice from crushed raspberries, strawberries, or passion fruit (fruit associated with love) would also work well. In this manner, she can still follow the basic spell while replying on components that are safe and support her ethics.

Choosing your own ingredients when adapt a spell, rather than following a prescribed formulas allows you to fine-tune a spell to your specific needs. Once you understand the basic natures and symbolism of various components, you can mix and match them to create exactly the right combination of energies.

Lampblack Ink

1. Choose a candle color to coordinate with the purpose of your spell. (Green for money, for instance).

2. Carve and dress as desired, then burn the candle.

3. Hold a spoon over the candle flame until black soot forms. (This take a while, it’s a time-consuming process requiring patience.) This soot is lampblack.

4. When sufficient lampblack has been produced, carefully tap it off the spoon and into a bowl.

Let’s Talk Witch – Magickal Inks

Many spells involve a written component. Once upon a time, magicians chose their ink carefully depending upon the purpose of the spell, in the manner that someone today might choose a candle or condition oil. Some magicians still do. The most popular magickal inks used in Western magick tend to be named after the blood of various creatures. They are marketed commercially and are readily available through occult sources. However, in many cases what is purchased is nothing more than plain ink with a label bearing a catchy title.

A long history exists of using animal names as a code for various plant substances. Among the reasons for this practice was the desire to maintain secret formulas. Unfortunately, when the formulas are obtained without understanding or even knowing of the existence of the code, all sorts of misunderstanding and tragedy follow. While some complain that modern manufactured “blood” inks no longer contain the herbal formulas, others claim that the formulas actually demand blood, the only way to produce “true” dover’s blood ink, for instance, being to slit the throat of a dove. This is untrue. Dove’s blood ink is frequently used to write love spells. Doves are sacred to Aphrodite, Genius of Love. Do you think that, having done very bad things to her bird, she will look kindly on your petition? The only blood typically called for in magick spells maybe your own, and even that requires no more than a few drops from a finger.

Formulas are frequently very similar. The red color typically derives from the resin dragon’s blood, a powerful magickal agent. Even if a formula doesn’t specifically call for it, it is extremely likely that adding gum Arabica or gum tragacanth to the mix will be necessary in order to make the ink thick enough to be functional. Typically one-quarter to one-half teaspoon is needed.

If mixing inks from scratch is forbidding, a simple yet magickally charged method of creating the various “Blood” inks is to add the appropriate essential oils and resins to plain red ink.

The Real Secret of Spell Casting

THE REAL SECRET OF SPELL CASTING

The power that makes a spell work is not to be found in some new recipe book. The real power that makes a spell work dwells within you, and surrounds you. The real secret of successful spellcasting, as with all magic, is your connection to divinity, within and without. Your thoughts, willpower, feelings, and physical exertions are actually all expressions or forms of this divine energy — just as
air, water, fire, and earth are all forms of divine energy. When you understand the true nature of the energy you work with, you can make real magic.

9 Steps to Casting Your Spell

1. cast a circle and connect with the divinity within
2. call upon the divinity from without
3. state the goal of your spell
4. visualize your goal
5. raise energy by chanting, dancing, or drumming
6. direct your energy to the spell’s goal
7. release the energy of your spell, ground any excess energy
8. offer libation and thanks and close your circle
9. act in accord and give back in thanks

Casting a spell? Don’t forget to:
– decide on your goal
– find guidance for your spell from an oracle or divation tool
– prepare your space by cleansing with salt water or herbs such as sage
– read Witchcraft Without Rules

5 Facts for Successful Spellcasting:

Passion fuels a successful spell; doubt can kill it.
Spells can be performed almost anywhere — though I don’t recommend attempting it while in the midst of rush-hour traffic! You do need to work without being disturbed when you cast a spell. So find a quiet and private place, preferably outdoors.
Once you’ve cast a spell, don’t talk about it — or even think about it — for 24 hours!
An old axiom says that spells should rhyme. A rhymed spell has rhythm and joyfulness in it, it’s easy to remember and repeat, and the repetition itself creates an altered, magical consciousness.
A spell is only used to control yourself, never another or Nature and remember, you should not do spellwork on someone else’s behalf without their permission.

Let’s Talk Witch – Pt. 2 Engaging All Five Senses in Spellwork (Smell)

Taste and smell are closely linked, but they do have different aspects. Smell is very portable, something you can wear to continually remind yourself of your spellwork. Spells for courage, confidence, and other emotion-linked outcomes can be kept close, and when something is worn on your skin, it becomes a part of you. A vial of oil used as the focus for a calming spell can be a great way to get through a long flight, and the scents we use in our home can be integrated into protection and cleansing spells for when the place needs a quick touch-up.

However, you can also use scents to evoke memory and, through that memory, the results you wish to attain. Drawing on memories of a loved ones, for example, can strengthen spells for that person, aid in contacting a loved one who has passed on, or help you access emotions tied to those memories. Emotions can be particularly hard to define in spellwork, but the way a result make us feel can be an important aspect of the working. In this way, finding the right scent to produce that emotion can make your goal more solid, bringing it just a little further into reality.

Tomorrow, we examine “Taste” as it is used in spellworking.

The Witches Magick for Feb. 17th – The Memory Rite

Witchy Cat Graphics & Comments

MEMORY RITE

This rite is good for anyone, even those who assume they have had perfect childhoods. You don’t always realize the past is dragging you down until it’s too late and you would be amazed by what you can find out about yourself.

You will need:

Yellow candles

Kamea of sol

A box of any shape or size

A solar incense

And music of a childlike nature to enhance the atmosphere

Preparation:

The box should have a lid. Paint the inside glossy black, or line it with an irregular reflective surface such as aluminum foil. The outside should be decorated with any drawing, pictures or whatever one may want to help evoke a childlike state of mind and help trigger childhood memories.

Start with an opening of any sort you feel comfortable with. Light candles and incense as desired.

State the intent “It is my will to greet my past and accept it for what it is”.

Recite the invocation:

I call the past to meet the present,

That the future may be bright.

I bring myself forth from the dark,

And hold me to the light.

Let not the past control my present,

Let not my future be dark as night.

I meet and greet my with open arms,

And move back into the light.

At this point, one person sits in the center of the group with their box, keeping it closed. She focuses on the box while the rest of the participants circle around, teasing, insulting, degrading her. At this point, the teasing should not be too personal. When she reaches gnosis, she opens the box and gazes inside, seeing whatever she sees. Now the taunting should reach a more personal and vicious attitude. This continues until they close their box again.

The box then is dealt with in whatever manner she sees fit. It can be destroyed, left open in a spot of sunlight, or kept for future uses as it may be a good idea to do this more then once.

When the first person is finished, another takes her place until the entire group has a turn.

Banish with laughter and embraces

WRITING SPELLS

WRITING SPELLS

Below are some steps that will help you get started when writing your own
spells. Please keep in mind that this is not the only way to write your own
spells. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to creating your own
spells. A spell comes from your heart, not some universal law.

Your Spell’s Rough Draft

This is the construction process of a spell.

Define Purpose- Decide what it is you would like to accomplish with this spell.

Locate Correspondences- Look for various herbs, gemstones, colors, etc that
correspond with the spell and look for other supplies you will need as well
(e.g. working tools) .Also decide how you will use the correspondences during
the spell. This could be anything from simply placing them on the alter in a
given position to creating a charm or amulet.

Casting the Circle- Decide what technique you will use to open and close your
circle.

Calling the Quarters / Inviting the God and Goddess- Decide what technique you
will use to call the quarters (the elements) and invite the God and Goddess.
(Note: this step or part of this step does not always have to be included in
your spell)

Meditation- Decide on a meditation technique you would like to use during your
spell.

Your Spell’s Final Draft

This is the sequence in which you may follow when casting a spell.

Set up the Alter
Casting the Circle
Call the Quarters and Inviting the God and Goddess
Correspondences (place correspondences on the alter, light candles, etc.)
Stating the Purpose (this can be done through rhyme, although it doesn’t have
to)
Charging the Charm/Amulet (if you choose to have a charm, this is the time to
charge it)
Meditate
Thank the Quarters and the God and Goddess
Snuff out Candles
Close the Circle
