Beltane Planting Ritual for Solitaries

This ritual is designed for the solitary practitioner, but it can easily be adapted for a small group to perform together. It’s a simple rite that celebrates the fertility of the planting season, and so it’s one that should be performed outside. If you don’t have a yard of your own, you can use pots of soil in place of a garden plot. Don’t worry if the weather is a bit inclement – rain shouldn’t be a deterrent to gardening. Just be sure you’re past the safe planting date for your region.

You’ll need:

  • Packets of seeds, or seedlings if you have them started already
  • Water
  • Pots of dirt, if you don’t have a garden
  • Gardening tools, such as a shovel

There is no need to cast a circle to perform this ritual, although if you prefer to do so, you certainly can. Plan on taking some time with this rite, though, and not rushing through it.

To begin, you’ll prepare the soil for planting. If you’ve already gotten your garden tilled or mulched, great – you’ll have a bit less work. If not, now’s the time to do so. Use your shovel or tiller to loosen the soil as much as possible. As you’re turning the earth over, and mixing it all up, take time to connect with the elements. Feel the earth, soft and moist beneath your feet. Take in the breeze, exhaling and inhaling calmly as you work. Feel the warmth of the sun on your face, and listen to the birds chattering in the trees above you. Connect with nature, and with the planet itself

If your tradition includes a deity of agriculture or land, now is a good time to call upon them. For instance, if your tradition honors Cernunnos*, a fertility god, you might choose to use the following:

Hail, Cernunnos! God of the forest, master of fertility!
Today, we honor you by planting the seeds of life,
Deep within the womb of earth.
Hail, Cernunnos! We ask you to bless this garden,
Watch over it, and grant it abundance,
We ask that these plants grow strong and fertile
Under your watchful eye.
Hail, Cernunnos! God of the greenwood!

When you have finished turning the soil and preparing it, it is time to plant the seeds (or seedlings, if youstarted them earlier in the spring). While you can do this easily with a shovel, sometimes it is better to get down on your hands and knees and really connect with the soil. If you’re not limited by mobility issues, get as close to the ground as you can, and use your hands to part the soil as you put the seeds in place. Yes, you’ll get dirty, but that’s what gardening is about. As you place each seed into the ground, offer a simple blessing, such as:

May the soil be blessed as the womb of the land
Becomes full and fruitful to bring forth the garden anew.
Cernunnos*, bless this seed.

After you’ve gotten the seeds in the ground, cover them all up with the loose dirt. Remember, this could take a while if you’ve got a large garden, so it’s okay if you want to do this ritual over the course of a few days.

As you’re performing all the different actions of gardening – touching the earth, feeling the plants – remember to focus on the energy and power of the elements. Get dirt under your fingernails, squash it between your toes if you don’t mind being barefoot outside. Say hello to that worm you just dug up by accident, and place him back in the ground. Do you compost? If so, be sure to add the compost to your plantings.

Finally, you’ll water your freshly planted seeds. You can either use a garden hose for this, or you can water by hand with a can. If you have a rain barrel, use the water from the barrel to start your garden.

As you’re watering your seeds or seedlings, call upon the deities of your tradition one last time.

Hail, Cernunnos*! God of fertility!
We honor you by planting these seeds.
We ask your blessing upon our fertile soil.
We will tend this garden, and keep it healthy,
Watching over it in your name.
We honor you by planting, and pay you tribute with this garden.
Hail, Cernunnos, master of the land!

You may also wish to include a general Garden Blessing.

Once you have completed watering, take a look through your freshly planted garden one last time. Did you miss any spots? Are there any weeds you forgot to pull? Tidy up any loose ends, and then take a moment to savor the knowledge that you have planted something new and wonderful. Feel the sunlight, the breeze, the soil beneath your feet, and know you have connected once more to the Divine.

*Cernunnos is used as an example in this rite. Use the name of the appropriate deity for your tradition.

Venus in Gemini

Now until May 7, 2015

The beauty of Venus entering Gemini is that the winds of attraction may blow in many directions. New perspectives on love become more possible. This is, ideally, a time to discuss relationships with the clarity and openness for which Gemini is known. This air sign supports the objectivity needed to see complex issues of partnership without emotional distortion.

Venus in Gemini places value on words and communication of all kinds. Attraction to gadgets, books, classes and learning tools may be greater than usual now. Depth is not the strong point here. Both Venus and Gemini can be dilettantes, flitting from one thing to another with barely a moment’s rest. Lovely Venus in this butterfly sign may be a bit flirtatious. Understand that we all need diversions. Enjoy the playfulness possible now, just don’t take it seriously. It’s a time of tasting, rather than testing.

The great gift of this period is a willingness to set aside old rules about what you like and dislike. Life is a great cornucopia of flavors, meant to awaken as much as to comfort. You can use this time to drop some of your social and aesthetic rules. Beauty, pleasure and personal values, you may discover, come in an infinite variety of shapes, colors and sizes.

Unsurprisingly, Venus in Gemini shows up in the birth charts of a wide variety of individuals. There are beauties Naomi Campbell, Uma Thurman, Brooke Shields and Candace Bergen and funny folks Bill Cosby, Joan Rivers, Dudley Moore and Ringo Starr. There are singers ranging from the religious Cat Stevens and Roger McGuinn to socially conscious Bono and style conscious Cher.

Healers Benjamin Spock and Elisabeth Kubler-Ross were born with Venus in Gemini, as was “hurter” Mike Tyson. Artist Frida Kahlo, poet Gary Snyder and designer Georgio Armani add style to this group. Actors Harrison Ford, Al Pacino and Omar Sharif were also born with Venus in Gemini, as were newsman Edward R. Murrow, Virgin tycoon Richard Branson and both Jacqueline and John F. Kennedy.

TAURUS STRONG
Stable and enduring, strong values, unyielding, earthy, acquisitive, strong desires. Can be stuck, stubborn, overly possessive, self-indulgent.
VIRGO STRONG
Meticulous, discriminating, pure, practical, health conscious, hard working. Can be hyper-critical, petty and perfectionistic.

EARTH STRONG
We are especially in touch with the physical world. We consider what we’ve learned and experienced in the past in order to make the most of the present. We can be cautious, practical, and possibly unimaginative. We are deliberate and can pace ourselves well. We need hands-on experience and are not impressed with theory as much as we are with results. Routines are tolerable and comforting.
AIR WEAK
We may have a difficult time being objective or detached. We may not be especially communicative.
WATER WEAK
There may be some insensitivity or lack of empathy now. We may be out of touch with what we’re feeling or with our emotional needs. We may be tougher than usual now, and more inclined to follow mental or practical considerations than we are to listen to our intuition.
CARDINAL WEAK
This is not a time that we tend to naturally initiate actions. We may be stronger at following up than starting anew. Survival mechanisms may be weaker now.

The Witches Magick for the 29th Day of the Seed Moon – Blue Ladies Wildflower Spell

gold fantasy

Blue Ladies Wildflower Spell

The Blue Ladies are water and air faeries who live high in the mountains. They are especially fond of butterflies and flowers. The Blue Ladies appear small or large, and they are more beautiful than any mortal, with skin and hair sparkling with ice and snow. They don robes colored with the gray and blue shadows of the snow and have gold and pink wings. The Blue Ladies plant wild flowers on the hills, help meadow grass grow long and green, save mortals and animals from avalanches and harsh mountain storms, and teach shepherds about love and the properties of medicinal plants. Use this spell to ask the Blue Ladies to grant you a special wish for love.

You will need a blue outfit and a package of wildflowers.

After dark, dress yourself all in blue. Hold the seed package in between your hands, and merge with the powers of the faeries. Imagine the seeds growing into blossoming flowers. Say:

Blue Ladies, beautiful faeries

Please bless these seeds with your

magic powers

May you grant my wish for love [state

your wish].

Thank you blessed Ladies, blessed be!

Plant the wildflowers the next morning. As you do, repeat:

Blue Ladies, beautiful faeries

Please bless these seeds with your

magic powers

May you grant my wish for love [state

your wish].

Thank you, blessed Ladies, blessed be!

Picture from: http://www.venusvoyance.com/wicca-vieille-religion-devenue-religion-nouvelle/ .If you go to the siteit is all in French.

I thought would share how I will be doing the sacred circle April 30th at 6:15 PM CT in the Chat Room. For more information click on Coven Life banner on right side of this page. This will take you to Coven Life Home page scroll down just a little and you will see the post for this gathering. I will be typing the ritual into the chat room as I do each part, so everyone can follow where we are. I ask that no one else post in the chat room during the ritual please. Thank you. Hope to see you tomorrow.

If you want to empower candles during the ritual as I will be doing, you will need to have a 1 yellow taper candle and 1 green taper candle. Length is your choice depending on how many gardens you will be taking them to, to use the power from. To give power from the candles to your garden:

To give power from the candles to your garden: Light candles hold them sideways so some wax can drip from them onto the ground. You will want to hold the candle over each corner of each garden. As you do light the candle, hold both in your power hand (the hand you write with) if possible, say: Candle burning bright. Release your power with all its might.

BELTANE COVEN GATHERING RITUAL

I am in my backyard for this ritual. I am lucky my neighbors have grown use to me doing them and do not talk to me now when they see my altar set up.

I will be closing the circle around us:

With Sword pointed at the ground: I call upon Fire to guard this circle from all things negative outside of it.

With Sword pointed at shoulder level: I call upon Water to keep this circle safe from all things negative.

With Sword above head: I call upon Air to keep this circle safe from all things negative.

Lay sword on altar.

Facing East: Power of ancient dreams, ancestors of the mighty east

Come forth, O guardians of Air.

Let your wings of intelligence my protection be

Hear this call, let my words draw you near.

Lock the gate that none may pass unless

They come in love and trust. Blessed Be!

Facing South: Power of ancient dreams, ancestors of the mighty south

Come forth, O guardians of Fire.

May your firey breath cleanse my work.

Hear this call, let my words draw you near.

Lock the gate that none may pass unless

They come in love and trust. Blessed Be!

Facing West: Power of ancient dreams, ancestors of the mighty west

Come forth, O guardians of Water.

May your sweeping waters bring protection all around.

Hear this call, let my words draw you near.

Lock the gate that none may pass unless

They come in love and trust. Blessed Be!

Facing North: Power of ancient dreams, ancestors of the mighty north

Come forth, O guardians of Earth.

Let the North Star crown your brow.

Hear this call, let my words draw you near.

Lock the gate that none may pass unless

They come in love and trust. Blessed Be!

This circle is now closed around us and I say: We stand in a place that is not a place, in a time that is outside of time. I welcome you in perfect love and perfect trust. Merry Meet and Merry greet.

I invoke Morrigan to come into our circle. I invoke the Green Man to come into our circle.

Waiting for the power to rise and the deities to enter.

Sitting before me is a green candle on my right and a yellow candle in my right.

With my pointer finger on each candle I say,

“I empower these candles with love and light,

to keep my plants healthy from blight.

They will bless my gardens from sunrise to sunrise,

My harvest from ,my plants will be my prize.

With my finger on the green candle I say, “Morrigan I ask you to infuse this candle with your power and energy to help my plants be bountiful and prosper.”

With my finger on the yellow candle I say, “Green Man I ask you to infuse this candle with your power and energy to help my plants be bountiful and prosper.”

These are my words, This is my will, so mote it be.

I pick up the chalice from the altar which has sparkling grape juice in it: Morrigan and Green Man I offer you libations in thanks for your power and energy to enhance my spell. I thank you Mother Earth, Ra, Rain and wind for helping my gardens to grow and be bountiful. I offer these libation to you. I then pour a bit of juice on to the ground.

I pick up the plate from my altar (which has some crackers on it): Morrigan and Green Man I offer this substance to you in thanks for your power and energy to enhance my spell. I thank you Mother Earth, Ra, rain and wind for helping my gardens to grow and be bountiful. I offer this substance to you. I than crumble a couple on to the ground.

I ring the bell on my altar: I ask the Fea folk to watch over my gardens and to help them grow. In thanks I offer you this ginger, butter and cake.

Before dismissing the Watchtowers and opening the circle I say: May no harm come to those within or without as my spell takes hold

I dismiss the Watchtowers starting in the North and walking counter clockwise/witthershins.

Earth I now send you back for where you came with thanks for your protection and power you have given this circle.

Water I now send you back for where you came with thanks for your protection and power you have given this circle.

Fire I now send you back for where you came with thanks for your protection and power you have given this circle.

The Witches Magick for the 28th Day of the Seed Moon – Seed Moon Abundance Spell

Nature Comments & Graphics

SEED MOON ABUNDANCE SPELL

Use this spell to bring abundance into your life.

You will need an apricot, a coin, sage smudge, cinnamon oil, and a gold candle.

After dark, eat the apricot and keep the seed. Smudge the coin with the sage smudge. Rub the coin with cinnamon oil, and also rub cinnamon oil on the apricot seed. Dress the candle with a thin coat of the cinnamon oil. Wipe the remaining oil from your hands. Do this thoroughly as the oil can be painful if rubbed in your eyes, nose, and so forth. Light the candle. Merge with the candlelight and say:

The candle signifies the abundance lighting up my life.

Focus your awareness on the candle. As you do, imagine all the riches and wealth coming your way in the next few days, weeks, and months. Allow only positive, prosperous thoughts to move through your mind. Fill your mind with a golden light. Focus your awareness on the candle, and imagine abundance lighting up your life. Allow the candle to safely burn down. Bury the remains next to your front door. Keep the coin and seed on your altar to draw abundance to you.

WOTC Extra – Top 5 Reasons We Don’t Get What We Want in Life

Nature Comments & Graphics

Top 5 Reasons We Don’t Get What We Want in Life

#5: We Think We Have to “Make it Happen”

Having to “make things happen” is difficult it involves long hours, hard work, and lots of worry. Thinking about making things happen makes most of us tired, so we just stop trying.

As children, we learned early and often that we have to physically create whatever we want, starting with getting good grades in school so we can get into a good college, get a good job, and live happily ever after. Weve got phrases like, Youve got to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and If you want something done right, you’ve got to do it yourself.”

The truth is that we do make some things happen, but most of the time we create with the Universe’s help. It’s like we’re sitting in the Universal restaurant and ordering off a menu: “I’d like the new job for an appetizer, the red car well done as an entrée, and a fabulous soul mate for dessert.” The Universe takes our order and serves it up and the only thing we have to pay at the end of the meal is our appreciation and gratitude. Now thats a cheap date!

Did you know that there is an angel, guide, totem, and helper for just about everything in life? Whether you want a new job, a new mate, or just a shift in your life ( three degrees to the right, please”), there is a Universal being just waiting to help you. All you have to do is ask.

Daily rituals remind us that we’re just doing the asking, and the Universe (and all its helpful beings) is handling the delivery. These rituals remind us to relax and just ask!

#4: We Are Afraid of Failure

Because we are not taught in school how to attract what we want, and because we don’t get a lot of practice, most of us feel that we are failures when it comes to getting what we want. We hate failure, so we give up on our desires and just accept whatever meager servings life puts on our plate.

The truth is that we are all fabulous co-creators in collaboration with the Universe, and we never fail. Sometimes we don’t create what we want, but we’re always creating we cant help it. Humans are born to create, all the time. Whats more, most of the time we do create what we want in life. We just become impatient and move on to our next desires before our first creation has manifested. As a result, we end up settling for less, and never see the results of our original creations!

Rituals of magic and witchcraft bring that creative process up to the conscious level, making us aware of the actual creation sequence. We begin to see the connection between what we ask for and what we get as a result.

Once we are aware of this creation process, we become much more confident creators and we pick up those old dreams and desires we abandoned long ago.

#3: We Are Hypnotized by Daily Life

As a society we have become so hypnotized by the hum of daily life that we forget to create consciously. If you want to see how hypnotic daily life is, check in with your thoughts first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Chances are, your thoughts will be about all the things you have to do during the coming day, or all the things that happened during the past day. Your big desires and dreams probably dont even figure in those thoughts!

Between day planners, smart phones, and tablets, we are sunk up to our eyebrows in the concerns of daily life. We become so engaged in making our daily lives work that we forget everything else. We are transformed from humans to robots.

A magical or witchcraft practice can help us create contact with Spirit, and maintain that contact throughout the day. Our Spirits are the keepers of our dreams, desires, and life lessons. When we are in touch with Spirit, we remember ourselves and why we are in body on this planet. Spirit keeps us in touch with our Spirit path, and helps us walk through our daily lives with purpose and meaning. When we are Spirit-led, we are no longer hypnotized by daily life, but use the tools of daily life to achieve our Spirit dreams.

#2: Negativity is Popular

If you’ve been around the metaphysical community at all, you’ve probably heard about the principle that we attract into our lives what we focus on. In other words, the sum of our thoughts and feelings (both positive and negative) create the events and people in our lives. So if you want to create your desires in life, all you have to do is think positive thoughts and feel positive vibes. Sounds simple, right?

Unfortunately, in our society it’s easier said than done. Negativity is so popular in our society that we’re often branded as “Pollyannas” if we’re too upbeat and popular. Just turn on the TV and watch any news program or sitcom. The news programs report mainly on disasters or gloom and doom predictions, while the sitcoms are all about characters insulting each other with sarcastic remarks.

We’ve become so accustomed to these negative forms of communication that it actually feels odd to think, feel, and act in a positive way. Being positive means we have a hard time fitting into the gossipy conversations that have become the norm in daily life.

The good news is that witchcraft rituals, done regularly, move us out of the negative spheres of influence and attract similarly positive people and events into our lives. These rituals give us the extra courage and confidence to stand in the positive flow of consciousness rather than the negative. Plus, they help us remember our dreams, and to think and feel in alignment with those dreams.

#1: We Don’t Believe We Can Be, Do, and Have Everything We Want

With phrases like, “You can’t have your cake and eat it, too,” who can blame us for giving up on our dreams? We’re taught that whenever we want something, we have to give up something else.

The truth is that this Universe is limitless from the human perspective. We can ask for and create anything and everything we want, and there is still enough left over for everyone else. We live in a continuously expanding Universe, where we are all creating more and more and more. As humans, we can’t ask for enough creation to exceed the Universal limit.

Our job as humans is to create. We are here to experience the process of creation, of being, doing, and having everything we want. Rituals of witchcraft or magic connect us with Universal helpers who can assist us in the process. These rituals also connect us with the understanding that the Universe is limitless, and we can keep asking to our heart’s content!

A Spell to Enhance Creativity (Creativity Spells part 4)

Choose something that represents the area of your life where you would like to enhance or increase your creativity. Any object or symbol will do. Keep it in a place where you’ll see it daily. Every time you see it, think of Star Trek and use Captain Picard’s slogan: “Make it so.”

Feel the words as you think them. Feel your changing beliefs. Then, make a gesture that’s connected to your creativity at least once a day for a month.

Magickal Goody of the Day for April 27th – Image Love Charm

Magickal Goody of the Day

poppet
Image Love Charm

Carve, sew, or otherwise construct an image of yourself as your finest, physically speaking. Pour into it all of your good points, as well as your bad. Embody the image with your spirit, your life force, your total being. When you look at its face, however crude and unfinished it may seem to be, see your own face.

When finished put it in a safe place. Next, of the same material fashion an image of your ideal love. This shouldn’t be a specific person, of course, but a composite of everything you are looking for in a mate. Though you are only fashioning its outline or rough features implant in it physical, spiritual, emotional and other intellectual qualities, habits, and goals in life and any particulars that appeal or are important to you.

When both images are finished, take a pink or red thread or cord and tie them loosely together, place them in a spot where they will not be disturbed for several weeks, but not in a box or other constricting place. Someone will come to you and after that it will be up to the two of you.

Spells of this nature draw many people to you, and one or two of these may become good friends. A more personal relationship might develop out of one of these, which may eventually lead to love. If it does, but the relationship ends, unbind the images, carefully dismantle the one of the perfect love and begin anew.

The same is true if you fine no lover. But wait at least three months. A spell of this type doesn’t force the person to fall in love with you; it simply expands your circle of friends. Any person you meet will be under no magical pressure or force to love you; that you will have to do on your own.

Next, mix the oils together, and paint words of endearment on your lover’s naked skin. Finger-paint one word on your lover’s skin, then ask your lover to paint a word of love on your skin. Spell for Creativity ( part 3) A Spell to Change Outmoded Patterns

Once you’ve identified the patterns you want to change in your life, make one small gesture that expresses your intent. Then, on the first night of the Full Moon, jot down your desire on a sheet of paper, in ink of a color that seems appropriate for what you want. For instance, if your wish is to be more creative with your financial investments, then use green ink. Or, if you want to be more creative in your professional life, use gold ink. Then light two candles of a close or matching color and read your wish out loud three times. Back the words with emotion— say them as if you mean them. Tuck your written desire under a power object and let the candles burn out naturally. On the second night of the Full Moon, light two more candles of the same color. Repeat your wish three times. Then touch the paper to one of the flames and say: As this paper is burning, I release my wish, my need, My deepest yearnings, A new life’s seed. When the second set of candles has burned out on its own, toss it out.

One Definition of a Muse

images

Wiccan Wonderings:

What, exactly, is a creative muse, and how can you get in touch with it?

The creative muse is nearly always spoken of as “she.” But a muse can also be a “he” or have no gender at all. It can simply be energy that you name, as you might a beloved pet. To get in touch with your muse, simply put out the request: Write it in your journal; tell yourself as you’re falling asleep that you’re going to communicate with your muse in a dream; meditate on it; or even write your muse a note.

Breaking Out of Your Rut

Let’s say you’re stuck in a rut at work. You hate your job but at the moment, you don’t have any other prospects on the horizon. Even so, you’re preparing a résumé, putting out feelers, and setting things in motion. In the meantime, you can do some simple magick, and it starts with nothing more than taking a different route to and from work. On the first morning that you take the new route, give yourself some extra time. Leave ten or fifteen minutes earlier than usual. Notice how this route to work differs from the one you ordinarily take. Is it more scenic More hectic Is it longer or shorter Take note of any feelings you have during the drive, any thoughts and insights that surface. Throughout your day at work, notice if you feel differently about your job. Are you more committed to finding something else to do Are your thoughts any clearer Does your boss still rub you the wrong way Even by changing something as minor as this, you’re breaking out of your habitual ways of doing things. Once you change your drive to work, you can start doing other small, routine tasks in your work and home life differently. Changing old patterns and ways of thinking serves as a symbolic gesture to the universe that you’re ready for change. Never underestimate the power of change— with new dreams, you can create a new life.

Solitary Moon Rite

Solitary Moon Rite

This rite may be used for either New or Full Moon. The difference is in your meditation and mental attitude in preparation. Remember that the New Moon is a time of outward work and thought, building to the peak which is the Full Moon. At the Full Moon, you should be preparing to lessen the outward flow of energy, bit by bit, until the period before New Moon, during which you are passive, building a pool of energy within you, in preparation for the New Moon.

The altar should be placed in the center of the ritual area. On it should be placed a rose or stick of incense on the eastern side, a red votive candle to the South; a cup of water on the West, and a bowl of salt or living plant on the North.

Around your ritual area, you should place an unlighted candle at the cardinal point of each direction.

To begin your rite, enter your darkened temple, carrying one burning candle, white or lavender, with you. Place it on the center of your altar, sit, and meditate on the meaning of the rite. When you feel the time is right, stand, and go to the eastern point, carrying with you, the burning taper. Light the votive at the eastern point and go to the southern, picturing, as you do, an arc of pure strong light curving from one candle to the next. Continue to the West, and then to the North, lighting the candles as you go, and then walk to your eastern candle again, having formed a circle of protective light surrounding the area in which you worship.

Return to the center of the circle, replace the candle on the altar, and say:

My Lady of the Moon, who is called Diana, Artemis, Levanah, Isis and by any other names, I come to you to bring you my love and my devotion. May you grant me the joy of your presence.

Mentally divide the room into four quadrants by visualizing a line of silvery moonlight from the southeast to the northwest, and from the northeast to the southwest. Go the East, taking with you the rose or incense. Say:

Sweet Goddess, the gentle breeze is the touch of your loving hand, the wind of storm a reminder of your strength. The sound of the trees in the wind is your voice, and the fragrance of flowers borne on the wind is your gift of beauty.

Place the rose next to the votive candle, then stand there as you picture the quadrant filling with moonlight. See the moonlight streaming quietly and gently into the room, filling the quadrant from center point to the edge of your circle.

When this is complete, take the red candle to the South. Place the gift and see the quadrant fill with moonlight. Say:

Most loved Lady, the light of the candle is a guide along our path leading to you; its warmth the reassurance of your presence and your love. The light of the Sun is the knowledge you impart to us, driving out ignorance and those things which can survive only in darkness.

At the West:

Lovely One, the quiet pool is the serenity of your being. The vast sea where life began on this planet is the vast sea of your being whence all life came; its waves are the ebb and flow of the universe you rule.

At the North:

Goddess of all, the fertility of the earth is a sign of your fertility, whence all life rose. The solidity and permanence are still of it are still less than yours. The Earth’s fertility feeds our bodies, and your fertility feeds our souls.

Go to the center of your temple, which is now filled with moonlight.

Everything in the circle is touched by it, blessed by it, including you. Sit down and feel this moonlight around you. Know that it is the Goddess. Realize that you are in the center of a sphere of light that is half above and half above and half below where you sit. Begin to breathe slowly and evenly, deep breaths that penetrate your whole body. When this rhythmic breathing becomes natural, imagine that the moonlight by which you are surrounded enters you, fills you entirely.

With each exhalation of your breath, some of the essence of yourself leaves your body, and with each inhalation, the light enters you. You are being filled ever so gently with this beautiful light. This light, which is the presence, the being of the Goddess, is within you as well as without. With each breath, you are less yourself and more the Goddess.

When you are filled with light, filled with the Goddess, the shell of your body fades away. You have no body; there is nothing to separate you from the entire being of the Goddess. Nothing exists but the being of which you are apart. You have ceased to be a separate entity. You are nothing and everything. All that was, that is, and all that will be, you are.

Enjoy this feeling as long as you like. When you feel it is time, picture the outer shell of your physical body reforming, becoming solid again. It is being built out of the Universe of which you are a part.

Now, as you continue your slow deep breathing, see the moonlight flowing out of your body, as gently and slowly as it entered. As it flows out, realize there is a difference. Because you have become one with the Goddess, with the Universe, your being has changed. As the moonlight flows out of your body, it takes with it a part of that which was yourself, now part of the Goddess, and leaves behind a part of the Goddess, forever now part of you. You become yourself again, solid as you were, but changed. You are surrounded by the presence of the Goddess, which now contains a part of yourself .

Move again to the East. As you speak, and after, picture the moonlight in that quadrant flowing back to its source, leaving that quadrant as it was.

Do this at each quadrant, until all the moonlight has returned to the Moon.

At the East:

My Lady, guide my thoughts. Let them lead always closer to you.

At the South:

Gracious Goddess, guide my actions. Let them always help and never harm others or myself.

At the West:

Lovely One, guide my emotions: Let them be healing and touched always by you.

At the North:

Sweet Goddess, let my mind always be fertile and strong, that I may grow always toward you.

Return to the East to complete the circle and say:

Queen of Heaven, I thank you for your presence, both now and always. My love and devotion are yours.

Blessed be!

All spirits who have joined me tonight may depart, with my love. Return to your proper places.

Walk again around your circle, but this time counterclockwise, extinguishing the quadrant guards as you go, and at the same time, mentally erasing the white line which surrounded your circle. When the candles are out and the circle gone, rap on your altar and say:

The rite is ended.

Seed blessing

Grow the seed its life within,

Grow with love in the garden I tend,

My witch’s work is never done,

As you sprout in the warmth of the sun,

My love of earth you will see,

Magically strong you will be.
