Milky Way Auroral Flower
Image Credit & Copyright: Göran Strand
Explanation: Could the stem of our Milky Way bloom into an auroral flower? No, not really, even though it may appear that way in today’s featured all-sky image. On the left, the central plane of our home galaxy extends from the horizon past the middle of the sky. On the right, an auroral oval also extends from the sky’s center — but is dominated by bright green-glowing oxygen. The two are not physically connected, because the aurora is relatively nearby, with the higher red parts occurring in Earth’s atmosphere only about 1000 kilometers high. In contrast, an average distance to the stars and nebulas we see in the Milky Way more like 1000 light-years away – 10 trillion times further. The featured image composite was taken in early October across a small lake in Abisko, northern Sweden. As our Sun’s magnetic field evolves into the active part of its 11-year cycle, auroras near both of Earth’s poles are sure to become more frequent.
Hi
I am waiting for my new modem to arrive via FedEx. Than I have to hooked it up. So I will be back with you all tomorrow.
Witches of The Craft domain name comes up for renewal November 18th. So it is that time of year again for the annual WOTC fund rasier. More on this tomorrow.
Not Here Again Today
I am feeling totally drained, have a migraine, and my body feels like it is a blast furnace made of bees. I an canceling today due to feeling horrible.
I Need a Self Care Day
After a very stressful day yesterday that did not end until 2:00 this morning and only getting 4 hours of sleep my whole body hurts and my mind is mush. With a bad fibromyalgia flare and migraine I am in no shape to post today. With some self pampering and rest today I will be back tomorrow.
I wish you all a fantastic Friday. Blessings for health and all positive things to come your way yoday.
Regular Posts Will Return Tomorrow
I have been using a HotsSpot connection through my cellphone this week because my internet was turned off Monday and I will not have internet service again until October 17th. I spent over an hour on the phone with my internet provider to get hooked back up. Which has given me a migraine and anxiety attack and I am out of my medication for both of them. I still have to call the number for low income internet service help and than call my provider back with an account number or something. I am taking the rest of the day off from posting because I am already ready to blow a casket. If you would send me some calming energy I would really appreciate it.

Dust Shells around WR 140 from Webb
Image Credit: NASA, ESA, CSA, JWST, MIRI, ERS Program 1349; Processing: Judy Schmidt
Explanation: What are those strange rings? Rich in dust, the rings are likely 3D shells — but how they were created remains a topic of research. Where they were created is well known: in a binary star system that lies about 6,000 light years away toward the constellation of the Swan (Cygnus) — a system dominated by the Wolf-Rayet star WR 140. Wolf-Rayet stars are massive, bright, and known for their tumultuous winds. They are also known for creating and dispersing heavy elements such as carbon which is a building block of interstellar dust. The other star in the binary is also bright and massive — but not as active. The two great stars joust in an oblong orbit as they approach each other about every eight years. When at closest approach, the X-ray emission from the system increases, as, apparently, does the dust expelled into space — creating another shell. The featured infrared image by the new Webb Space Telescope resolves greater details and more dust shells than ever before.

Ou4: The Giant Squid Nebula
Image Credit & Copyright: Tommy Lease
Explanation: A mysterious squid-like cosmic cloud, this nebula is very faint, but also very large in planet Earth’s sky. In the image, composed with 30 hours of narrowband image data, it spans nearly three full moons toward the royal constellation Cepheus. Discovered in 2011 by French astro-imager Nicolas Outters, the Squid Nebula’s bipolar shape is distinguished here by the telltale blue-green emission from doubly ionized oxygen atoms. Though apparently surrounded by the reddish hydrogen emission region Sh2-129, the true distance and nature of the Squid Nebula have been difficult to determine. Still, a more recent investigation suggests Ou4 really does lie within Sh2-129 some 2,300 light-years away. Consistent with that scenario, the cosmic squid would represent a spectacular outflow of material driven by a triple system of hot, massive stars, cataloged as HR8119, seen near the center of the nebula. If so, this truly giant squid nebula would physically be over 50 light-years across.
Archaeologists Find Underwater Salt Kitchens of the Ancient Maya
Now below sea level, the workplaces and settlements were vital sites of salt production.
Recent excavations of submerged Maya salt kitchens off the coast of Belize indicate that their ancient workers lived on the sites and possibly worked in kin-based teams.
The archaeological site is called Ta’ab Nuk Na, and it was in operation from 600 CE to 800 CE. It’s the largest of 110 submerged Maya sites in Paynes Creek, a nature reserve on Belize’s southern coast. Archaeological analysis of the operations at Ta’ab Nuk Na are published today in the journal Antiquity.
“The discovery of a residence at the site indicates the salt workers were living there instead of commuting daily from somewhere else on the coast or moving to the coast seasonally from inland areas,” said Heather McKillop, an archaeologist at Louisiana State University and the study’s lead author, in an email to Gizmodo.
The Maya mainly produced salt in two ways: evaporating saltwater and boiling brine in briquetage, or coarse ceramic vessels, over fire. The second method was…

Life in The Craft Magazine on Hold
I know many people are waiting for the next issue of Life in The Craft magazine but due to a lot of things I have to take it off my plate for now. As I said in yesterday’s post about the brain fog, I am having for a variety of reason and the fibromyalgia flare I am still in, I am barely able to keep up with posting, emails, things for my students, and coven.
I hope to be able to start publishing it again with Imbolc/Lammas 2023. I am sorry if this upsets anyone, but I have to do what I have to do to keep myself from being overwhelmed and out of a deeper depression. Just thinking about working on one for the upcoming Sabbat put me into an anxiety attack not a good place for me to be. I do enjoy publishing the magazine and will return to it.
I am NOT accepting anymore requests for the free issues as I have reached my target of 100 subscribers. I may open it to new subscribers again in January 2023 I will just have to see where I am mentally, emotionally, and physically at that time. Anyone who is on the email list for it now will stay there. The Imbolc/Lammas and Ostara/Mabon 2023 issues will be free after that there will be a subscription price of $3.00 USD per issue or one $21.00 per year USD. I spend between 25 to 30 hours researching and putting together every issue and feel the content plus my time is worth what I will be charging.

Stars, Dust, Pillars, and Jets in the Pelican Nebula
Image Credit & Copyright: Adriano Almeida
Explanation: What dark structures arise within the Pelican Nebula? On the whole, the nebula appears like a bird (a pelican) and is seen toward the constellation of a different bird: Cygnus, a Swan. But inside, the Pelican Nebula is a place lit up by new stars and befouled by dark dust. Smoke-sized dust grains start as simple carbon compounds formed in the cool atmospheres of young stars but are dispersed by stellar winds and explosions. Two impressive Herbig-Haro jets are seen emitted by the star HH 555 on the right, and these jets are helping to destroy the light year-long dust pillar that contains it. Other pillars and jets are also visible. The featured image was scientifically-colored to emphasize light emitted by small amounts of heavy elements in a nebula made predominantly of the light elements hydrogen and helium. The Pelican Nebula (IC 5067 and IC 5070) is about 2,000 light-years away and can be found with a small telescope to the northeast of the bright star Deneb.

Brain Fog is a Horrible Thing to Deal With

Thanks to fibromyalgia and my emotional state of mind over the past month plus lingering effects from having covid my mind is not working very well today. I opened WordPress to start posting and could not really understand what I had posted or not posted for both hemispheres’ tomorrow so Give me some time to slowly figure out what I have or have not done, and I will get the regular posts up for both tomorrows at some point today. Thank goodness for Grammarly or this post would look like a very young child wrote it instead of me LOL. This is not an easy thing for me to work with and at times trying to figure out what I am doing not just with posts but something as easy as refilling my water glass can trigger anything from a mundane headache to a migraine.
To make things a little easier on myself the following will be happening with all the regular everyday posts:
The birthday horoscope will be posted on the date it falls on.
The southern hemisphere will have postings for its tomorrow.
The northern hemisphere will be todays out from the current date.
Hopefully this along with a check off sheet will allow me to get information to you better daily. Please excuse any mistakes I might make with getting posts on the dates listed above. Thank you for your patience once again.

A Double Lunar Analemma over Turkey
Image Credit & Copyright: Betul Turksoy
Explanation: An analemma is that figure-8 curve you get when you mark the position of the Sun at the same time each day for one year. But the trick to imaging an analemma of the Moon is to wait bit longer. On average the Moon returns to the same position in the sky about 50 minutes and 29 seconds later each day. So photograph the Moon 50 minutes 29 seconds later on successive days. Over one lunation or lunar month it will trace out an analemma-like curve as the Moon’s actual position wanders due to its tilted and elliptical orbit. Since the featured image was taken over two months, it actually shows a double lunar analemma. Crescent lunar phases too thin and faint to capture around the New moon are missing. The two months the persistent astrophotographer chose were during a good stretch of weather during July and August, and the location was Kayseri, Turkey

Auroras over Northern Canada
Image Credit & Copyright: Kwon, O Chul (TWAN)
Explanation: Gusting solar winds and blasts of charged particles from the Sun resulted in several rewarding nights of auroras back in 2014 December, near the peak of the last 11-year solar cycle. The featured image captured dramatic auroras stretching across a sky near the town of Yellowknife in northern Canada. The auroras were so bright that they not only inspired awe, but were easily visible on an image exposure of only 1.3 seconds. A video taken concurrently shows the dancing sky lights evolving in real time as tourists, many there just to see auroras, respond with cheers. The conical dwellings on the image right are tipis, while far in the background, near the image center, is the constellation of Orion. Auroras may increase again over the next few years as our Sun again approaches solar maximum.

Moon Alert
There are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions today. The Moon is in Aries.
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Today the only Full Moon in your sign all year is taking place. Naturally, this will heighten and intensify your feelings, and possibly create stress with partners and close friends. You can counter this by being patient because patience is the antidote to anger.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Mild health issues, as well as feeling vaguely out of sorts, might manifest for you today because of the energy of the Full Moon. Fortunately, this subsides within 48 hours. In fact, some minor problems related to your job might come to a head and be resolved.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Parents must be patient with their kids today; and likewise, romantic partners must be patient with each other because the Full Moon energy can stir things up! Nevertheless, it will not override your desire to socialize and have a fun time. Enjoy yourself.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Today, you might feel pulled between the demands of home and family versus the demands of your career or your public reputation. (This is a classic Full Moon dynamic.) You can’t please everyone. In this particular instance, do not ignore home and family, especially a parent.
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
Pay attention to what you’re doing today, and to what you say to others because the Full Moon is inclined to make you blurt things out that you might later regret. In fact, it can introduce a mildly accident-prone influence for your sign, so be careful. Be alert and mindful.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
Money disputes or disagreements about shared property might arise today because of the Full Moon. However, problems always increase before the Full Moon, and then after it peaks, these same problems diminish or even disappear. This might be the solution you need.
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
Today, the only Full Moon opposite your sign all year is taking place. This will tend to increase tension with those who are closest to you – friends, spouses and partners. Fortunately, you are a diplomat who knows how to steady things. Use your skills, and this tension will quickly pass.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
Difficulties at work, or possibly with your health, might arise today because of the Full Moon energy. It’s good to know that in 48 hours, these difficulties will be resolved or greatly reduced. Fingers crossed. Relax. Similarly, you might have difficulties that relate to a pet. Easy does it.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
Parents need to be patient with kids today. You will also need to be patient with others in social situations, or anything to do with sports and athletics, because today the Full Moon can produce aggression and heightened reactions. Therefore, be forgiving and take everything with a grain of salt.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
Dealing with authority figures, parents and the police might be challenging today because of the Full Moon energy. This is a poor day to be stubborn about anything. Instead, show deference and respect to authority figures while this intense energy exists. (Gone in 48 hours.)
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
Pay attention to what you do because today is a mildly accident-prone day for you. Similarly, you might find yourself in an argument with someone about something trivial. This is because of the heightened Full Moon energy taking place in your chart. Relax. No biggie.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
Money disputes might arise today. Or perhaps a disagreement about a possession, or something you own, or how to use something that someone else owns? This squabble could be due to the heightened Full Moon energy. After the Full Moon peaks, these problems will resolve themselves. Stay calm.
If Your Birthday Is Today
Organizing expert Marie Kondo (1984) shares your birthday today. You are articulate and you love to debate. (Although you want harmonious relationships with others.) Partnerships are important to you. This year is a time of reflection. Look at past experiences to see what not to repeat. New studies and the exploration of new philosophies and life belief systems will appeal.
A Thought for Today

Until tomorrow and all through your lifetime dear sisters, brothers, and honored guests may your life be filled with all things positive!
I have all of the northern hemisphere’s regular daily posts for tomorrow ready to go. I have the same for the southern hemisphere’s tomorrow. YEAH! I am finally more or less ready to get out of the dark playground in my mind and start living for just today again. The old saying, “If you have one foot in yesterday and one foot in tomorrow you will piss all over today.” I have been straddling today for too long and feel that have been unfair to all of you. I am very grateful to everyone for being supportive, understanding and patient with me not posting as I work through things and illnesses. I will not say my clinical depression and anxiety disorder are totally under control again, but I am working on getting them controlled enough that I am not afraid to leave me home. Yes, I have been staying in my home basically 24/7 unless there is something I have to do that I cannot pawn off onto Lord Beltane. But to leave my home and yard I am picturing myself as a tiny mouse in a maze that no other human can see me in otherwise, I would feel like everyone is staring at me and whispering about me. I truly hope that me writing about my depression and anxiety has reached at least one person to realize they are not alone with how they feel and that I validate their feelings.

Posts Will be Caught Up Sometime Today

First any ideas besides tapeing toes together for a broken, next to little toe, toe on my left foot? We have a beautiful deer family that visits us inn our backyard, across the street, and in the empty lot next door. They are amazing to watch especially the fawns we have watch grow from nursing as mom eats to them now eating along side of her. Well, all but Starbabie, my ESA Un- Chihuahua Chihuahua, love to try to give the deer a hard time so we check to see if they are around mostly when our, Min Pin Cleopatra, big male- German Shepherd/Pit mix- Merlin and big female – German Shepherd/Pit/Rottweiler/ Wolf/Chow mix – Dreamer, fur kids are taken out. I did not see them yesterday and took the two of them out. They spotted them and Dreamer, very unusual forcher to do something like this, lunged as I was coming down the last step where the sidewalk has broken off from the rest of the side walk leaving about an inch or so gap. My shoe came off and my foot turned some how breaking my toe and spraining my knee. Today it my foot and toe are a pretty shade of purple and black, need to look at something good to offset the pain lol, and I cannot walk without using my cane because my balance is off. I found this out the hard way when I got up to take our loving fur kids out and fell back on to the bed. It was funny watching Merlin’s reaction as he turned his head from side to side to try to figure out if I was playing some kind of game. I am elevating it above my hip and icing for 20 minutes every other hour. Getting ready to brew a small thermos of White Williow Bark tea for the pain and a cup of Comfery Leaf to help with the bruising (DO NOT DRINK COMFERY LEAF TEA! IT IS FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY) So any other helpful ideas are greatly appreciated
Now, for the important stuff. Today once again I will be catching up birthday horoscopes and doing today’s Moon phase. I know it is already October 6th or 7th depending on which hemisphere you live in but I am going to finish the monthly posts. I figure better late than not do them at all…Right? Since I will be sitting down as much as possible I am hoping to get tomorrow’s regular posts done for both hemispheres too but please do not need upset if these do not happen until tomorrow.
🤞fingers crossed that I do not have to take anymore time off because I am sick 🤞
Thank you so much to my long, medium, and short term folders for sticking with me while I post sporadically since mid-August. A close friend and mentor use the phrase “Dropping a Love Bomb on everyone reading this.” I think it is very appropriate for me to use it here but tweaked to be my own…
From my heart to yours dear Sisters, Brothers, and Honored Guests…Here is a virtual love bomb filled with love, peace, contentment, and a whole bunch of other positive things!

A Tought for Today

These are words I really need to remember especially now. I have been sleeping around 18 to 19 hours in every 24 since last Saturday and still feel exhausted but I know it is my body trying to heal itself so for now I am ok with sleeping that much.
My biggest problem is the increase in nightmares from a bunch of things including but not limited to fatal car accidents, my mom dad and Sonny sitting up in their coffins to tell me just one more thing, along with other things I do not want to bring into the light of day.
My psychologist has me Journaling about the nightmares ans PTSD not fun but it is helping. I just with I could get the above mentioned people into a nice forest or field or anywhere but their coffins. I talked to relatives and close friends beyond the veil anytime they come to me when I am awake. Why these 3 have to interrupt my sleep I probably will never know…lol
Have a terrific Tuesday dear Sisters, Brothers, and Honored Guests. My your journey in this lifetime be full of all positive energy and things.
