Magickal Activity for Thursday, February 11, the Day of the Miracle At Lourdes

Healing Bath

Items needed: One white candle, fresh mint and lavender

Light the candle and place it next to the tub so the water will reflect its light. As you fill the tub with water, add the mint and lavender leaves. Just before you step into the tub, stir the water with your hand as you chant:

Elements and herbs lend your power,
Bring me healing from this hour.

Soak in the tub for 15 minutes. At the end of this time, stand up in the tub and let the water out. As the water drains from the tub, visualize all your ailments (or problems) leaving your body and flowing away with the water.

Celebrating Legends, Folklore & Spirituality 365 Days a Year for Feb. 11th – Miracle At Lourdes (France)

Feb. 11th

Miracle At Lourdes (France)

It was on this day in 1858 that the famous apparition of Our Lady at Lourdes was seen by a poor peasant girl, Bernadatte. This was the last manifestation at the gorto, which had been known for many centuries as the shrine of the Goddess.

Born Marie Bernarde Soubrious, Bernadatte (1844-1879) suffered from asthma, poverty, and a lack of education. At the age of 14, on February 11, Bernadatte experienced a vision of the Virgin Mary while collecting firewood on the bank of the River Gave near Lourdes. During the next six months, she saw a series of 18 visions in which the Lady identified herself as “the Immaculate Conception” and told Bernadatte to drink from a nearby spring. The Lady also instructed Bernadatte to erect a chapel on the site. Since that time, the spring has produced 27,000 gallons of water each week and has been the site of countless miracles of healing.

Aspects of the Moon in Aries

Aspects of the Moon in Aries

Lunar Outbursts
Those with the Moon in Aries have a fiery heart that always knows Spring will come again, no matter how things appear. And while they do feel intensely, this keeps them from lingering too long in an emotional mood. The Aries Moon is tempestuous, courageous and a great lover of personal freedom.

The Aries Moon can sense the truth of a matter right away, and grows restless for others to “get it.” If they seem pent up, it’s only that they’re ready for the next big challenge.

They’ll be most alive if at the edge of trying new things and meeting new people.

They don’t mean to harm when they cauterize emotional wounds with a verbal blowtorch rather than apply a soothing balm. Their words might be brusque, but often their medicine is the blinding truth that otherwise would go unsaid. In relationships of all kinds, count on them to keep it real, fresh and honest.

The Moon in Aries has a lit up quality that can make them sought after social companions. They’ll be able to jump-start those at low ebb with their shiny charisma. But they’ll need stimulation in return, or you’ll soon see them looking for the exit.

The one thing they don’t stand for too long is restrictive or boring situations.

They’ll need a romantic partner that won’t be easily cowed by their bluster. After a cathartic argument, it’ll be time for making up, and then the smoldering passion of the Aries Moon will re-emerge. If you can handle getting singed now and again, it’ll likely be an unforgettable time.

Deities Associated with Thursday – Jupiter, Roman God

Deities Associated with Thursday – Jupiter, Roman God

Jupiter, also known as Jove, is the god of sky and thunder, as well as the king of gods in Ancient Roman Mythology. Jupiter is the top god of the Roman pantheon.Jupiter was considered the chief deity of Roman state religion during the Republican and Imperial eras, until Christianity became the dominant religion.

Zeus is Jupiter’s equivalent in Greek Mythology. The two share the same features and characteristics.

Due to Jupiter’s popularity, the Romans named the largest planet in the solar system after him.

Attributes
Jupiter is depicted with a beard and long hair. His other attributes include scepter, eagle, cornucopia, aegis, ram, and lion.

Jupiter, the Planet
The ancient Babylonians were the first known people to record their sightings of the planet Jupiter. The Babylonians’ recordings date back to the seventh century BC. It was initially named after Jupiter, the king of the Roman gods. To the Greeks, the planet represented Zeus, their god of thunder, while the Mesopotamians saw Jupiter as their god, Marduk.

Zeus
Jupiter and Zeus are equivalents in ancient mythology. The share the same traits and characteristics.
The Greek god Zeus was the top Olympian god in the Greek pantheon. After he took credit for rescuing his brothers and sisters from their father Cronus, Zeus became king of heaven and gave his brothers, Poseidon and Hades, the sea and the underworld, respectively, for their domains.

Zeus was the husband of Hera, but he had many affairs with other goddesses, mortal women, and female animals.
Zeus mated with, among others, Aegina, Alcmena, Calliope, Cassiopea, Demeter, Dione, Europa, Io, Leda, Leto, Mnemosyne, Niobe, and Semele.

He is king on Mount Olympus, the home of the Greek gods. He is also credited as the father of Greek heroes and the ancestor of many other Greeks. Zeus mated with many mortals and goddesses but is married to his sister Hera (Juno).

Zeus is the son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea. He is the brother of his wife Hera, his other sisters Demeter and Hestia, and his brothers Hades, Poseidon.

Etymology of Zeus and Jupiter
The root of both “Zeus” and “Jupiter” is in a proto-Indo-European word for the often personified concepts of “day/light/sky”.

Zeus Abducts Mortals:
There are many myths about Zeus. Some involve demanding acceptable conduct of others, whether human or divine. Zeus was enraged with the behavior of Prometheus. The titan had tricked Zeus into taking the non-meat portion of the original sacrifice, so that mankind could enjoy the food. In response, the king of the gods deprived mankind of the use of fire so they wouldn’t be able to enjoy the boon they’d been granted, but Prometheus found a way around this, and stole some of the gods’ fire by hiding it in a stalk of fennel and then giving it to mankind. Zeus punished Prometheus with having his liver pecked out every day.

But Zeus himself misbehaves — at least according to human standards. It is tempting to say that his primary occupation is that of seducer. In order to seduce, he sometimes changed his shape into that of an animal or bird.

· When he impregnated Leda, he appeared as a swan [see Leda and the Swan].
· When he abducted Ganymede, he appeared as an eagle [see Zeus and Ganymede] in order to take Ganymede to the home of the gods where he would replace Hebe as cupbearer; and
· when Zeus carried off Europa, he appeared as a tempting white bull

— although why the Mediterranean women were so enamored of bulls is beyond the imaginative capacities of this urban-dweller — setting in motion the quest of Cadmus and the settling of Thebes. The hunt for Europa provides one mythological version of the introduction of letters to Greece.

The Olympic Games were initially held to honor Zeus.

Thursday’s Witchery

Thursday’s Witchery

Today is the day for prosperity work of all kinds. It can also be used for healing work, whether that is a physical healing of an illness or an emotional healing. Also remember that you have to follow up your healing work and prosperity magick and physical action.

I can’t tell you the number of times I have met new witches who complain to me that their prosperity spell or “I need a better job” spell did not work as they expected. They’ll ramble on and on about how much time and money they spent working their magick….but, alas, they had no glorious manifestation of wealth or fabulous job that suddenly dropped out of the sky and landed in their laps.

Then, when I gently ask them, “Did you enchant your resume or application when you filled it out? Did you do a little confidence-boosting spellwork when you went to apply for the job or went to the interview?” typically they give me a blank, confused stare.

Nine times out of ten, their response is, “You mean I have to go out and actually look for the job too?” Um, yes, my dear, you certainly do. Magick follows the path of least resistance, which means it’s going to manifest along the simplest, quickest route. Get out there and hit the pavement. See what you can find. Times are tough and competition for good jobs is fierce, so you need whatever edge you can get. For folks like us, we’re going to get the edge by using our magick and our spellcraft.

Thursdays have such a rich source of magick for us to draw upon that, honestly, the sky is the limit. This is the day associated with the gods of the sky and heavens, after all. Get to know these deities and add their wisdom and magick into your days

Thursday – Thor’s day

Thursday – Thor’s day

Thursday is the fourth day of the week between Wednesday and Friday, and is named after Thor, the hammer-wielding Norse god of thunder.

Necklace pendant shaped like Thor’s hammer Mjölnir.

Silver pendant shaped like Thor’s hammer.

Thursday is the fourth day of the week according to the international standard ISO 8601 and between Wednesday and Friday.

Naming Thursday – Thor’s Day
The English word Thursday is named after the Norse god of thunder, Thor. Thursday literally means “Thor’s day” in Old English. Thor is represented riding a chariot drawn by goats and wielding the hammer.
In most languages with Latin origins, the day is named after the god and planet Jupiter. Jupiter is depicted as the chief god of sky and thunder who maintained his power with his thunderbolt.

Middle English – thursday or thuresday
Old Norse– thorsdagr – Thor’s day
Old English– thunresdæg – Thunder’s day
Latin – dies Jovis – “Day of Jupiter”
Ancient Greek – hemera Dios – “day of Zeus”

Position in the Week
Thursday is the fourth day of the week according to the international standard ISO 8601. It is the fifth day of the week in countries that use the Sunday as the first day of the week in their calendar.
In Slavic languages and in Chinese, Thursday is the fourth day, while the Greeks and Portuguese refer to Thursday as the fifth day.

Common Events on Thursday
In the United Kingdom, all general elections have been held on a Thursday since 1935, and this has become a tradition, although not a requirement of the law. The Thursday before Easter is also known as Maundy Thursday or Sheer Thursday in the United Kingdom, which is traditionally a day of cleaning and giving out Maundy money.

In the United States, Thanksgiving Day is an annual festival celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.
In Australia, most movie premieres occur on Thursdays and on Thursday nights. Most Australians are paid either weekly or fortnightly on a Thursday, so most shopping malls are generally open until 9pm, which is later than other weekdays. Shopping malls see this as a good opportunity for business to stay open longer than usual because most pay checks are cleared by Thursday morning.

Your Guide to the Stars for February 11 thru February 17

Your Guide to the Stars for February 11 thru February 17

February 11: Brightest Stars
Look well up in the south around 9 or 10 p.m. for Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky. From latitudes south of about Los Angeles, the second-brightest star, Canopus, twinkles below Sirius, quite low above the southern horizon.

February 12: Rigel
Rigel, the brightest star of Orion, marks the hunter’s foot. It is to the lower right of Orion’s Belt early this evening. Rigel is a supergiant, so it is much bigger and heavier than the Sun. It also is thousands of degrees hotter, so it shines blue-white.

February 13: Horsehead Nebula
The Horsehead Nebula stands close to the star at the left end of Orion’s Belt. The nebula forms the silhouette of a horse’s head against a faintly glowing background — a spray of hydrogen gas energized by radiation from another bright star.

February 14: Moon and Taurus
The constellation Taurus spreads out above and to the left of the Moon this evening. The Moon will pass close to the bull’s brightest star, Aldebaran, tomorrow night.

February 15: Moon and Aldebaran
The Moon glides up on the bright eye of the bull tonight. Aldebaran is close to the left of the Moon as night falls. Later, the gap between them will close as the Moon moves toward the bright star. And as seen from California and Hawaii, the Moon will pass in front of Aldebaran, blocking it from view.

February 16: Leo Rising
Leo, the lion, moves higher into the evening sky in February. Regulus, its brightest star, rises shortly before sunset and remains visible throughout the night. Leo soars high across the sky, standing almost directly overhead around midnight.

February 17: Double Cluster
Just above the W-shaped constellation Cassiopeia, toward neighboring Perseus, look for a faint smudge of light. Binoculars reveal dozens of individual stars packed into two clusters. Together, they are known as the Double Cluster.

A Beautiful Rose for All Our Precious Family & Friends On This Wintry Thursday Morn’!

The Goddess Speaks

These are the words of the Great Mother.
She is the one who is always there for you
She is the one whom we and only we can determine.
She is the calling.
This is her time to shine,
Your time to shine.
I am naught but a mother,
Caring and compassionate,
But in need of my own love, and lustful.
This is my advice to you.
That you shall carry my torch
And you shall follow my light to the end of time.
I am that which none can see.
I am the only tree in the desert.
I love you all
And you shall love me as I love you.
This is the way of the Wise Woman.
This is your way. I share your body as you
Share in my spirit of life.
This is my charge to you.
Be kind to all and love and be free.
There are times when this world is a barren place,
But in the barren, you shall find me.
I will always be here.
And you shall be my light as I am yours.

We hate to run but….they have been forecasting a Winter Storm for us. The only thing it was suppose to hit later on this evening. Guess what? Today’s Crowley Thoth Tarot Card for Today

Fortune

Fortune represents that aspect of life that is directed by forces and events we may not understand or even be aware of. In short, Fortune deals with chance—those occurrences that manage to alter even the most structured of lives, usurp man’s “best laid plans.” While the effects of Fortune are unpredictable, the outcome is always change; sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. Our path through life is never a ride down a perfectly straight highway. Sometimes we may even experience hairpin turns or complete reversals of direction. Fortune is strong reminder that despite our plans, the Universe has its own agenda from which we cannot escape participation.
